I locked it in a time capsule and I opened it this week and it said, don't pick against the Chiefs. There's going to be a million shiny objects out there. They're going to tell you. Oh, man, the Eagles, they got so much talent on this roster. Look what Howie Roseman did this offseason. It's so great. Don't do it.

Right. Don't do it. Yeah. So you know, I have to keep doing it. I do. Eventually I'm going to be right. I mean, yes, they're going to lose. At some point, the coin will land on tails. At some point, maybe. Gojo, I was asking your dad last week because I think Jason Kelsey is in a, is in a weird predicament, right? Oh, yeah. Where he's saying that he's rooting for the Eagles, but I don't think he's really rooting for the Eagles. And you should root for your brother. Right. He's retired. If I'm not playing for Philly anymore, I'm rooting for my brother.

And Mike is right. Why is Jason feel the need to come out and root for the. He doesn't want the Eagles to win. The Eagles winning makes him look bad.

I, I, I, I do think he is like almost a mascot of that city, though. Like he was there for so long and was a part of so much winning for them. That's pretty tough to all of a sudden extract yourself from. I do think deep down where in place. He didn't talk about at parties, though. Yeah, those guys cry so much talking about each other, such a loving relationship.

There's no way. Yeah. Yeah. Mike, are these Super Bowls still tough for you to come to? Like, because you told me one time, like, they're difficult because you never. You wanted to. The first time you wanted to come to a Super bowl was because you were playing.

Right? Right. I think having worked the last couple have kind of taken that off, I was able to be on the sideline and work them. I did enjoy that.

So, yeah, I think I'm. Listen, I've been out of the league since 94. I better be over it. I mean, if I can't get over that.

I like your chances. The Bears next. Stugaccia. I want to tell you a story. I'm serious here. My wife and my two daughters, they begged me to buy a peloton. So I bought a peloton. And then I watched that peloton sit in my office and stare at me. So you know what I did one day I looked at it and so I decided to get off my ass and I jumped on the peloton because no one else was using it and I paid for it. I mean, so why not? Then I realized eventually that they bought it for me. And I gotta tell you, way more challenging than I could have ever imagined. Peloton coaches are walking the walk. I love the coaches. I do the Grateful Dead one. It's fantastic. Fantastic. They have a sub three hour marathon runner, military trained athlete, a former college basketball player, and so many other well rounded coaches on their team. All this experience really shows in their classes, which are never short of challenging, especially for me. So I jumped on it that first time. It was challenging, more challenging than I thought. And then I wanted to beat the bike and so I kept jumping on it and I absolutely love it. I. I mean, I'm the only one who uses it, but again, they got it for me. I mean, I had no idea. That's a little passive aggressive that you think, find your push, find your power. With [e-mail] Mikey, remind me because it is very important to say the thing that everyone's going to say, but say it first. Yeah.

Which is. And this will be the talk at Radio Row, I would say midweek, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, once they hear it from me and it starts spreading around Radio Row. So I want to be a trendsetter. And what I am telling you is what everyone's going to say, and they'll be ripping me off, is this Eagle team is better built to beat this Chiefs team than the last Eagles team was to beat that Chiefs team because of Saquon Barkley, because of their ability to keep Patrick Mahomes off the field. And that will be their strategy. I said it first. They will run the ball. They will run it a lot in an effort, not only because it's a strength of theirs, but. But also to keep Patrick Mahomes off the field. That's it.

And I think what you're going to see over the next week or so is that you're going to see a lot of these prop yardage totals, reception totals, carry all these. The initial public push is always to bet it over. So, like, if you're looking for an under, someone like me is looking for an under. It's better off for me to wait because more often than not, I'm going to get a little bit of a better number than I would if I immediately rush out right away and bet a, bet an opener embedded under and it's, it's bumped up to a couple of yards, so. I know I just said I like playing a bunch of unders but here, here I am with it over and the reason being is I'm not sure Isaiah Pacheco is fully healthy and fully immersed to be able to really contribute run running wise inside we've seen Kareem Kareem Hunt run. They did not really have a great game on the ground against Buffalo last time out. So I, I think you're going to see Andy Reid and and that offense try and get Worthy involved in the running game on some jet sweeps or anything like that. So I, I'd be looking at Xavier Worthy if it's anywhere in the area of like five and a half and potentially going over because he's been used in the running game quite a bit the second half of the year.

Chris Speaking of the running game, the last few Super Bowls I've really cashed in on quarterback rushing overs and right now the one I see is Patrick Mahomes. Yeah, Patrick Mahomes 29 and a half. He had 40 something yards against the Bill. So if we were in a draftkings state and we were doing this, I was wondering what how you would feel about 29 and a half for Patrick Mahomes.

[Dan Le Batard]

That number actually got blasted I think last night. I think it was somewhere around 24 and a half, 25 and a half and it's moved up quite a bit. So at that number I think it's hard because I would lean towards an under the way I would actually look to bet Mahomes is look for if they have like a longest rush single carry prop because odds are he'll have one of those scrambles where he breaks contained and he runs for 12, 13, 14 yards and they move the sticks and probably that'll be good enough to go over that that yard. But Mahomes is one of the was it was a central figure in one of the worst beats ever in a Super bowl prop the super bowl against the 49ers a few years ago in Miami he had those ridiculous kneel downs where it was like I'm going to lose seven yards, I'm going to lose eight yards and he was way over his Russian total for the game and then those rushing yard, the kneel downs lost him. So I like thinking of like the the game theory and how I think the game is going to play out and if it's going to be a close game and you think maybe the Chiefs are going to win, then maybe there is a victory formation and he's losing maybe three kneel downs. Maybe he's losing eight, nine, 10 yards on those three carries and that ultimately could do you in. So I look a longest individual carry for Mahomes, more than I would just going over in the game.

Yeah, yeah, that's what I would. I would, I'd go under 29 and a half if that's what it is now.

I think it's 26 and a half. I think is what the superbook put up there last night. And I know Bill Crackenberger, who's a really sharp pro better. He immediately bet the under and I don't know if I agree with him there. I think that Chiefs rush defense has been a little spotty. I would bet over 26 and a half before I would under but I, I certainly wouldn't argue with anyone if, if, if you did go, if you did go under thinking maybe Kansas City and Spags and that D has things locked up but they haven't been able to put this high enough. Like you said the last couple of weeks. First carry last week, what 65 yards, whatever the hell it was to the house and nothing better than cashing a bet on the first play of the game. Yeah, but yeah, I would lean towards over this because he seems to always break at least one long run. The thing I'm going to be curious about with the Eagles in the running game and all these running props here, I'm curious what they post like Will Shipley's numbers at because we don't know if Gainwell is going to play. Gainwell is someone that Jeff Schwartz and I have loved to play overs. We had his over in the, in the Rams game. We had it. We had his over the round before that as well. And they all hit. Then we had the overs again last time out against Washington and he would have gone under, but he fell a half a yard short and then unfortunately got hurt on that kickoff return. So we'll see if he's going to be able to play, but maybe, maybe the, the Shipley numbers might be a little deflated too. Again, we don't know how much play he's going to get because that was a blowout game. And how much will they bench Saquon to get him a little bit of a rest? So it's going to be curious to see how the Eagles offense might be affected. Saquon get more carries, Shipley get more carries, how they kind of balance that out. If you have a, if you have an idea on that, you might have a little bit of an edge on those numbers.

However, I won't say the top because the airport is a pain in the ass. It's. There's flights in and out of. There are few and far between difficult connections. The weather can kind of be like, you never hit or miss. It could be really rainy, it could be unusually chilly, or it could just be like super swamp humid. So it's like the core of it itself, like the heart of it. Like the really, really important things, the food in the atmosphere. Great. But all the. The ancillary stuff about flights in and out and weather potentially. But I'm looking forward to getting down there.

So more often than not, the super bowl memories that I have are, are, oh, I had a Kyle Juice Chick touchdown last year as well. So that was a, that was a good score as well. But. But most of the super bowl memories are.

And so, so they should win and Barkley should be the mvp. And that's kind of been the prevailing school of thought I've heard out there right now. But, but like I'm, I'm really looking for any reason I can to bet the Chiefs. Because if you bet against the Chiefs and you lose, you're like, what the hell was I doing? Exactly like you, you deserve. You deserve whatever you get.

If you look to fade him and you do. I mean, they've lost what, one real game in the last year that was the game to the Bills and like the, the playoff losses that, that Mahomes has Had have just been like the one super bowl they lost where they were without what, four off starting offensive lineman against Tampa Bay. It's like, it's hard to pull the trigger and bet a bet against them. So I'm. I think when push comes to shove, you see shove. But should push. See what I did there? I'll probably. I'll probably wind up betting bet in Kansas City would probably be the way I think I'm gonna wind up going.

You knew the Patriots were going to be one of the worst teams in the league. And it's like you could have seen a scenario where they were starting like, like 7 and 1 and like making a real run and then just went downhill from there. But yeah, it never, never, never again. As SVP said on his pod a couple of weeks ago about his travel back from the college football championship game. Yeah, never again, never again will I bet on the jets to make or win the super bowl. Because hope is a dangerous thing with that he never, ever, ever, ever. Do you want to give yourself an ounce of hope and optimism with the jets because they'll just absolutely kneecap you.

Well, since you brought them up, would you make of their coaching hire? I liked it same.

[Dan Le Batard]

I mean, I heard it was either going to be him or Joe Brady were the two front runners.

[Stugotz]

Right.

I think it's good to have someone maybe, maybe who, who is there and is familiar with the organization and was there the, the last time they had an ounce of positive coaching and a positive front office and positive results are coming close to the Super Bowl. We will see. Obviously, the staff is going to be important. What they do at quarterback is going to be important. They'll have the benefits of a. A lesser schedule this year which, which will be good. But. Yeah, what do you do with quarterback? I mean, is Aaron going to come back for another year? Are they going to go Tyrod Taylor for a year? They're going to find another bridge quarterback for the year. You're probably not going to be drafting a quarterback where they are 10 because they have so many different holes that they need to fill. But look, obviously the NFL is a league where you can turn things around pretty quickly. But, but, but I think someone there who kind of understands what jets fans have gone through for the last however many years. I think that's a. Yes, that's a good thing. Especially he was, he lived it in Detroit as well. He was part of a massive turnaround and Beacon that city believe. So maybe he can do. Do the same with the Jets. I just hope I don't have the number of times we're going to see Mark Ingram catching the fake spike against there in front of Aaron Glenn to the next start of the regular season. How many times? We see that a lot.

But Bear, you know what he wants to be there. And you're right. He knows the, he knows the pain of the Jet fans. He knows what we want. He knows how bad it's been for how long and for how long. But most importantly, he hopes that this is his last job in the NFL. And that's very important. We don't normally get a coach who. This is the final destination for. Aaron Glenn wants this to be his final destination. So I like that.

He's, he's, he's going to wind up moving into the first round. So that's, but you draft someone that, that maybe, maybe has a chance. I don't know who that is right now. And then next year obviously Garrett Nuss Meyer is going to be a, a guy who would probably be QB1 if he was coming out this year. So there, there might be some options next year as well. But I think for like if you're looking for one year, I think you'd probably be better off seeing if Aaron wants to come back for one more year.

I it makes all the sense in the world and I'm glad they, I mean they needed to do something because you were not going to be able to go into that next season with Emory Williams as your starting quarterback. But the, the issue now is you need to find people around him. You need some of those recruits to step up at wide receiver in tight end and be players that they, they thought they could be. Maybe you can find someone in the the second portal go round who the hell knows. He changes defensive coordinator. Seems like it's probably a, a good thing. But yeah, you'll need your secondary to to be better and they've made steps to address that. I think you're probably looking at it again. Another schedule is a little bit more difficult this year. They open with Notre Dame down there at Joe Robbie. I'll never call it anything else.

Because you can't take the guy's name off of a stadium.

But I think if you're looking at the fact that you've got Notre Dame, you have Florida non conference like you should be in the ACC championship game next year and again they should have been in the SEC championship game this year with the best quarterback they've had in school history. But their defense was a sip and they couldn't. But are they. I hate they'll never be back to what of course I know them as and what all of our my generation of Miami alums and friends and fans and know of know of them as being back but any to to not expect them to compete to make the College Football Playoff next year. They'll absolutely compete to do that.

Demario Davis with us here at super bowl week. It's Radio Row. We will get to what he's doing on behalf of Ashley here in just a second. But I was watching a game and Tom Brady. I do a thing called Weekend Observations where I just write down a bunch of sports observations in my Notes. We try to make it funny and entertaining. And here's what I wrote down. This was Tom Brady, okay? No one wraps up a ball carrier like demario Davis.

It's my job, man. I gotta get him down, dog. I gotta get him down.

But do you agree there is no one that wraps up a ball carrier like demario.

First of all, you gotta put an epic pause on that. Yes, I think, man, I do take a lot of pride in tackling.

And.

And what a lot of people don't know is I didn't play defense, really, until my senior year in high school.

[Stugotz]

Really?

[Demario Davis]

Yeah. I was. I thought I was gonna be a receiver. I knew I was going to make it to the pros. That was my goal, Right. I'm gonna make it the pros, but I thought I was.

[Stugotz]

When did you know you were going to make it to the pros?

[Demario Davis]

I would. I really knew when I got to college, but.

[Stugotz]

Okay.

[Demario Davis]

When I said it in fourth grade, the first time I said it, wow. I was like, I'm going to NFL. I meant it.

[Stugotz]

You spoke it into.

[Demario Davis]

It was never like, you know, I hear teachers talking. You got. You can't just have a plan A. You need to have a plan B.

[Stugotz]

Right?

[Demario Davis]

I'm like, man, I'm gonna have a plan for my plan A.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Demario Davis]

You know, and that's my mindset. But so I played receiver, and I had a coach, he brought me over the defense, and he showed me how to tackle. Coach McCann. Shout out to Coach McCann. He taught me how to tackle, and it was a shoulder tackle. And I still use the form that he showed me to this day. You got people who tackle with their face, got spear. You got guys who do, like, a little sling tackle. You got people who cut tackle. But I use a shoulder tackle, and this has been effective.

[Stugotz]

Wow. I cannot believe you said I'm. You set out. So you said at an early age, I'm going to be an NFL football player. And then you would not stop until you achieve that goal. That's incredible.

[Demario Davis]

I mean, at that age, you don't know what you're really declaring.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Demario Davis]

All I know is I'm a dogmatic person. My kids are like this. I got six kids. My son and one of my daughters are like this. Like, when their mind is set on something, even as their mom and dad, we can't sway them.

[Stugotz]

Wow.

[Demario Davis]

We got to figure out a way to. To. To redirect them.

[Stugotz]

Right?

[Demario Davis]

It's like. And I'm like that. So when I said, you know, my uncle asked Me? What do you want to be? I'm like, I want to go to the NFL. We had just watched a playoff football game on tv. The whole family was watching.

[Stugotz]

Sure.

[Demario Davis]

I'm like, I want to be my whole family sitting around TV watching me.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Demario Davis]

And I was like, I'm going to the NFL.

[Stugotz]

Yeah.

[Demario Davis]

I meant it. And everything was. I mean, I started practicing doing my autograph when I was, like, in the sixth grade.

[Stugotz]

Really? No.

[Demario Davis]

And it's like, I use the autograph that I. I practice like, a thousand different ones, and I was like, oh, that's the one I'm gonna use.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Demario Davis]

That's the same one I do to this day.

[Stugotz]

That's pretty incredible. Are you having fun here in New Orleans?

[Demario Davis]

Oh, man. Listen, where else would you rather be? It's a great city, and it's an amazing city. It's one of the most unique cities right. In the country. Yeah, it's. It's great for, like, weeks.

And yeah, you're right. I think this is going to be an epic game. You got two phenomenal quarterbacks. I mean, I'm looking at those guys when they came in open tonight and they on the stage together, they doing the high fives and. And doing all that, but you looked in the eyes, man. You saw two killers.

And this. This game is about to be good, man.

Well, it was great the last time they played, right? Oh, yeah.

It was a phenomenal game.

Went down to the end. You know, Mahomes proved his greatness once again.

But I think that sat in the back of Jalen hurts mind and you know, A.J. brown, them guys, they haven't forgot.

And now they got Saquon. They coming to town, so.

Well, they have the thing that can keep. That can keep Patrick Mahomes off the field and that take one in a running game, right? Yeah, yeah. Right.

I mean, you know, when you're playing the Chiefs, it's really one thing. Keep. Keep Mahomes and Andy Reid off the field at the end of the game, right?

Yes.

I think. I think last year, the super bowl, we knew what was gonna happen. Even though they were backed up against the wall. I mean, I almost had the ball at the end.

And it was like, yeah, you go ahead and cancel Christmas. And the way he went down the field was so epic.

It was like watching poetry in motion.

Because you knew he was gonna do it. It's just a matter of watching it, watching it play out. Right.

Listen. Now, what I will tell you is.

Having a great offensive mind at the end of the game.

You know, you got to have a general that's on the field doing it, but you got to have a great play caller and they got to be in sync. But I tell you what, the Eagles have, that can pose a threat.

That I think that the. The 49ers might have not had at that moment. You need somebody that can make that game changing sack.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Demario Davis]

You remember when Aaron Donald was in the super bowl, he got that big sack at the end of game. What? The only thing that can stop a quarterback like Mahomes, that's. That's on that Tom Brady level. If he. If he hasn't quite got to it, he's right there knocking at the door.

Right.

[Demario Davis]

They're going down the field. They already know where they're going with the ball. When they get to the line of scrimmage.

[Stugotz]

Sure.

And everybody knows it's really just like, don't drop the pass.

He's going to get the ball to the right guy, gonna make the right decision all the way down the field. The only person that can be affected. This is why the most important defensive position is a pass rusher. Somebody got to be able to get to him inside of three seconds.

And I think like the guy who's made so many of these type of epic sacks is Brandon Graham.

[Stugotz]

Yeah. That's what he does. Right.

[Demario Davis]

He's always making that phenomenal sack. So if. If we get to the last drive of the game and Mahomes is driving down and Brandon Graham gets a sack Porsche, I'm gonna be like, demario Davis called this.

[Stugotz]

I'm gonna say that. And. And I like that because you're saying for the first time, Mahomes won't get it done. You're saying. You're saying.

[Demario Davis]

I'm not saying that. I am not saying that. You are not going to protect me with that. I just said don't be shocked if that happens.

Do you want me to ask you again? At the end, you say Mahomes is going to get it done, and then. But that way you have all sides covered. You know what I'm saying? You can't be wrong.

I just said I wouldn't be surprised that happened.

Okay. Which defense do you trust the most, though? Because defensive lineman after quarterback, the D lineman, are the best players on the field in the Super Bowl.

Yes. The defense I trust the most. Oh, man.

They're both really good. Number one pass defense. That's tough.

With some defensive lineman that can get it done.

We have no idea what we're watching. So can you explain why that was so like. Even to someone like. Like you who's played the game your entire life.

Yes.

Why was that so surprising?

[Demario Davis]

Yes. Because when the offensive line kind of comes out and they're looking. They pretty much have numbered where the blitz can come from.

[Stugotz]

Okay.

[Demario Davis]

And there's so many guys. And so it can be, you know, kind of your four defensive linemen or your three linebackers or the two linebackers in a nickel. And that's most time who you're watching. If it's the safety start moving, which is the guys who are on the back. If they start rotating, it's one of them blitzing.

[Stugotz]

Okay.

[Demario Davis]

Very rarely do you think that the corner is coming.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Demario Davis]

And so if you've shown that team's kind of aware of it, but it's just hard to pick up and it has to be called at the right time. That's what they did. It was like. Because it's so risky, if you blitz the corner.

[Stugotz]

Yes.

[Demario Davis]

You're almost giving up a first down because it's easy. It's hard to hide that the corner is blissing without rotating the safety over there.

[Stugotz]

Sure.

[Demario Davis]

So it's like 10 yards of grass that he can just throw right to and get the first down.

[Stugotz]

So they saved it for that time.

[Demario Davis]

They saved it for the right time. Quarterback missed it and he almost scrambled. Scrambled right into the blitz.

[Stugotz]

I know. So you're telling me Josh Allen had no idea that was coming?

[Demario Davis]

He, he. No, he didn't know it was.

[Stugotz]

That's amazing.

[Demario Davis]

He would have got to a different play.

[Stugotz]

Wow.

Got to a different place. He missed it.

Tell us what. That's incredible. Thank you for breaking that down. Because, you know, as fans, we watch football, Right. We're just watching the quarterbacks. We don't know what's going on inside the trenches.

You know, I mean that's what, that's what a quarterback has to be able to diagnose.

Like when you talk about the hardest position to play.

Yeah.

I don't want to just say Josh Allen missed it. It looks like he missed it. But they have to diagnose all that.

To know exactly where they're going to go with the ball. Get the team to the perfect play call. That's what, when you talk about like the go to doing, that's what Tom Brady would do. He would be able to look at the defense and know exactly what they were in and get the team to the. The play that was going to give them the. The optimal chance of success.

Yeah.

Just imagine, you know, a young person having their own place, you know, and it feeling safe and building and being a nice new bed.

So that was great.

We remodeled a house. This amazing lady, she has a son that's autistic. And, man, she does so much. You know, life has a lot of adversity, but she's just taking it and blessing people. She's an amazing singer. Amazing. Does. Does hair in the city. Just helps so many different people. So we got a chance to remodel her whole house with Ashley Furniture. They have been great, man, and it's, it's, it's. It's great to see them connected to the community and doing work with for people and changing their lives. And so it's been great. They've been a phenomenal partner.

It's great to see the pride you have when you're, when you're telling those stories.

Yeah. I mean, it's real work. And we live in a world that's moving so fast, and a lot of things are happening.

Every time I'm here, I'm like, oh, yeah, City rocks right here are really nice and cool and fun. So. Yeah, loving it so far.

It's like, not even just drinking wise. It's just like, people just finally are stepping out and actually can like hang out and stuff. So it's kind of a surreal thing where it's like, all right, 11 o'clock. Guess I'll start out. You know, I feel like I'm in New York or Miami, actually.

Yeah, yeah, right. That's past your curfew, though.

[Dan Le Batard]

I know.

I hang out longer in Indy than I do in New Orleans.

[Stugotz]

Yeah, that's how you're supposed to do it, right? The places you shouldn't be.

Yeah, I know, I know. And I live in Vegas too, and I'm acting like I'm just like, yeah, don't even, can't even handle this.

So Vegas, for me, that was a nightmare, like in terms of a Super Bowl.

[Chris Felica]

Now I did meet you there and I was surprised. Okay, you did.

[Stugotz]

I was surprised.

No, no, I remembered. Yes, yes. I normally don't, to be honest with you.

[Chris Felica]

No, I. No, that's the thing is I, I saw, I felt bad for people. People there, cuz you could tell everyone's excited. Vegas, okay.

Yes.

And then after like day four and you guys had some crazy weather too, live shows and stuff, it was freezing.

[Stugotz]

It was freezing.

[Chris Felica]

Yeah. And like day four, I got to go home every night. Every day. I just saw everybody wear, worn out. It's just being in those casinos, it's like the little city states and you can't get out.

[Stugotz]

Well, and not only that, it was like to get like once you got to the hotel, once you got to the media center, like to the front doors, you're still outside. You were just starting your trip. It took like 30 minutes from that point just to get into the media.

[Chris Felica]

Everything.

[Stugotz]

It took me two seconds today.

Yeah, I know, that's so great. My hotel's two blocks away.

[Stugotz]

So we got Charles McDonald, who I know has been.

Yeah, friend of the show. So him, him and I and Matt Harmon, who does reception perception. His background's a lot more in fantasy, but really we talk about Texas. No scheme stuff. Really a lot of deep dive stuff. Charles helps me kind of come out my little, my little layer sometimes actually I gotta be a normal person about some of it. But really just like, there's a lot of like what happened when happened. We're really trying to go, why? How? I think a lot of people, like when they can just point out one thing to their buddy at the bar, you go like, hey, hey, this linebacker's pretty Good. Or, hey, they, like, run this coverage or something of that sort.

Right.

[Chris Felica]

My background, I kind of done every. Everything in football. Played, coach, scouted. I was a ball boy. I think with just all that has kind of led me to kind of go like, oh, maybe this. I was around a lot of smarter people through osmosis. I go, maybe look out for this. Maybe look for this guard that's weak against this blitz. And I think that's kind of like a nice angle for us, and it's a lot of fun to kind of dive into.

[Stugotz]

So I think it's interesting because Dan and I say every week. And I just had this experience with Demario Davis, who explained to me why that corner blitz that Spags put on Josh Allen, he, like, actually took me through it as to why it was so special and how we actually set it up, because Dan and I have been talking about this for years. We don't know what we're watching on Sundays a lot. And that's. Right.

[Chris Felica]

And that's what people think. The all 22, you know, the big. You know, the big X's and those stuff. You know that where you can see all the players on there.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Chris Felica]

People think that's like, oh, you guys don't know what you're looking at and stuff. But you have to rewind it a million times because, like, you don't always see what the guard is doing from the sideline angle. You don't see downfield what the safety is doing. And that's what. That play was brilliant. I mean, we had 500 backlash breakdowns on that play and everything. But that's what's really cool, especially with blitz stuff, is that there's layers to it and there's rule breakers. And that's why I love Spagnola. I was a former offensive guy, but watch him. He breaks rules. And that's what. It's a total F me kind of thing.

[Stugotz]

Right?

[Chris Felica]

And he's able to do it. And you saw, like, that perfect fourth downplay was like, yeah, that's what Spags does to you. He does the. He does the 501 thing.

[Stugotz]

Yes.

[Chris Felica]

That you're not. You are prepared for it, but it would be like a leap of faith to get there for an offense. And that's what's really cool when you start dissecting.

[Stugotz]

He is maybe. And I've had this discussion with him. He and I have become friends, but I've told him, like, I know he wants to maybe be a head coach again. Why leave this quarterback? Why leave this Coach, why leave this situation? There's nothing wrong with being the greatest coordinator that's ever lived. That's right.

[Chris Felica]

And his, his reputation in my mind now, this speaking to this is he went from like a quarter head coach retread. Okay, interesting defense coordinator to now I consider him one of the greatest defense coordinators of all time.

[Stugotz]

Yes.

[Chris Felica]

With some. And I, I truly mean this. I think that some of the game plans, just like Belichick should go to Canton because he's one of the best game plan coordinators. Day. Once the playoffs start, it's so week to week.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Chris Felica]

Like as far as like all right, that game plan, throw it out. Because we're starting a whole new one.

[Stugotz]

Different team, different game plan.

[Chris Felica]

And now we got all 18 weeks to like look at the previous film as opposed to maybe four in the middle of the season.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Chris Felica]

Him and Andy Reid on the opposite side are the best. Like they are the. And now they have a bye week. So that's how I look at it too. It's like, all right, you probably paid pretty well too.

[Stugotz]

Yeah.

[Chris Felica]

You know, and everybody now his respect level has gone through the roof.

[Stugotz]

Right. So you're saying Andy and Bill are the coaches who are, who are the best at getting their teams prepared week to week.

[Dan Le Batard]

It's.

[Chris Felica]

It's not just week to week, it's once we hit playoff time.

[Stugotz]

Yes.

[Chris Felica]

Those hyper specific game plans.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Chris Felica]

That's the best way to put it. They're the ones that are able to create these one off game plans. The one off plays. That's like, oh, that was. I even come back to two years ago though when these two teams played in the Super Bowl. Remember the kind of back and forth touchdowns and motions and stuff.

[Stugotz]

Yeah.

[Chris Felica]

Because it wasn't. Andy Reid was able to watch every Eagles game where the coaches were from all the whole regular season. And they took those plays which are popular, but they took it from the Jaguars doing against the Eagles and like, like week four. And that's the difference is they put in the work and go, oh, that's interesting. We're gonna put it in now. That's what the extra by week does. It gives you the time to do it. So interesting. Yeah. That week to week. I keep saying week to week. I should say that specific playoff game plans. They are the best at it.

[Stugotz]

Who's not doing that?

[Chris Felica]

That's a good question.

[Stugotz]

Yeah, I'm trying to even look like is Sirianni. Do I think Sirianni gets a raw deal like he does?

[Chris Felica]

Right. I mean they keep winning and everything.

[Stugotz]

Well, they've been to two Super Bowls, four years, playoffs, four consecutive years.

[Chris Felica]

I thought one thing underrated aspect with Sirianni was the year before they went on the first super bowl run. So that would been 21, right? He benched himself as a play caller. And usually you'd be like, hahaha. But I thought the humility to go, no, Sten, you got the plays. Yes, I'm gonna bench. Because they were struggling the first four or five weeks, I want to say it was. And then they had a buy, right? And they launched from there. And then they got A.J. brown continued the next year. Steichen's now a head coach.

[Stugotz]

That's not an easy thing with the ego involved in this sport. Think about that. He. He stripped himself of play calling, which is you never.

[Chris Felica]

Usually what you see is the opposite.

[Stugotz]

Correct.

[Chris Felica]

Oh, I'm taking it away from him. He's fine. He's the first one in front of me on fire going, yeah, he's the human meat shield, right? And that's what most. And I always, I kind of look back then. I respect him for that because not a lot of head coaches would do that, especially ones that, you know, finally get their first head coaching job. Like, I'm going to be a play caller. Look at me, I'm the next McVeigh Shanahan, right? So that's one thing where I was like, hey, I mean, there is something to that and there's something to being like, like, I hate the term, but the CEO type that kind of gets everyone organized. And if they're, I mean, they keep winning games, man.

[Stugotz]

So I mean, listen, Philly should be embracing him. He is Philly.

[Dan Le Batard]

I mean, that should be the last.

[Chris Felica]

Name using a bunch of vowels in it.

[Stugotz]

Philly should want him to coach that team forever, man.

[Chris Felica]

Just go watch.

[Stugotz]

Listen, I, I said this to Ler. He got mad at me. But I said, if Sirianni wins this super bowl, he is the greatest Eagles coach in Eagles history.

The other one got ran out. Like Doug Andy Reed got ran out.

I know, I know Sirianni can still win something.

[Chris Felica]

Going to two and win a one is a lot better than a lot of other coaches.

Even if you end up as the Larry Coker of NFL coaches, it's not the worst.

It's not the worst thing. Not. Listen, Larry Coker had the greatest start, I think, in college football history.

[Chris Felica]

And that's kind of my, that's how I feel about him a little bit too. It's like, hey, yeah, he's taking over a Ferrari.

[Stugotz]

Right.

But he's keeping it on the road.

[Stugotz]

Yeah.

[Chris Felica]

And I know there's every time they lose it's the funniest little like you know, everybody starts dropping rumors and gossip and everything. But I haven't gotten a lot of that lately because I think things have been pretty good in Philly.

[Stugotz]

How about Fangs in terms of getting his team ready because this is such, it's such a fascinating super bowl where you have Mahomes, you have Jaylen Herz, you have all this offensive talent. Right. But the defenses are strong, the coordinators are great. It could be a low scoring game.

[Chris Felica]

That's what I think it's going to be a lot of long drives too. Like it's, it's both of these defenses are top five and allowing exposure of plays and the fact that they don't allow them, I should say.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Chris Felica]

So. And I think that they're very. You can be methodical against both of them. I, I think the Rams game was interesting against this Eagles defense where they're really doing a lot of at you runs around concept called duo. But what it is is just like vertical just is power basically without anyone pulling. And you can do that you if you're willing to live a 4 or 56 yard gains. Yeah. And the Chiefs are able to do that.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Chris Felica]

That's what they want to do. They don't. They're not very excited, explosive anyways but they're hyper efficient.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Chris Felica]

So I think that's a lot of long drives. I think I the line I've been kind of giving. I think this is gonna be the shortest super bowl like as far.

[Stugotz]

I agree.

[Chris Felica]

Yeah. Even with the halftime show.

[Stugotz]

Well, because now you have. Listen, it was a great game two years ago, but now you have Saquon and to Sirianni's credit and Howie Roseman's credit to be able to get Saquon from the Giants, which is ludicrous and absurd. But you now have the guy. If he doesn't break one for 80 you could have those 11 play 10 minute drives. That the most important thing about them. We've kept Mahomes off the field.

[Chris Felica]

Both teams want to do that, right? The Chiefs want to go. Well, we don't want them hitting big play after big correct on us. So yeah, I, I am really curious. Like my eyes are going to Spags versus Jalen hurts and the Eagles offensive line. It really is because Spags is one of the best. Like he's one of the biggest blitzers, but he runs a lot of zone blitzes, and that's a difference than man coverage blitzes. And Jalen Hurts has been better against the blitz, but if you remember last year in the playoffs, Todd Bowles and the Bucks, they kind of exposed him.

[Stugotz]

A little bit Y.

[Chris Felica]

And he's not good against his own blitzes, though, because it's just a little more confusing, it's a little more exotic. So that's one thing where it's like, all right, if they get an explosive play off of it, that's gonna decide the game. But I think Spag's gonna try and bait him into that. One turnover. That could totally swing the game.

[Stugotz]

Right? X's and O's are important, man. Just so you know. They are like. Like, let me not our car over there. Like, I know. You know, I know you want to try to. To drag out your personality and all that. No, we need X's and O's. Okay? Let me be the jackass. You give us X's and O's.

[Chris Felica]

I know. I'm fine with that. This is my. This is more of my language. So we're good.

[Stugotz]

No, I love the X's and O's, though. I really do. Because, again, we don't know what we're watching.

Yeah. So I'll. I'll tell you one little. Okay. One little inside baseball player.

All right. It's the coverage called palms, and it's a quarters coverage. So too high shell and on it. It's basically a defense trying to run Cover 2 and Cover 4 at the same time.

Right.

[Chris Felica]

And what you're trying to do is bait the quarterback into throwing to the slot, like a quick out route, and thinking that you can just have nice open space over there. John Hurts loves throwing those.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Chris Felica]

The Chiefs are one of the best defenses at running this, so they'll blitz. Quarterback will think he's hot, and there's the corner who looks like he's running with the outside receiver. He'll turn around and be there to pick off or blow up the. Blow up the slot.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Chris Felica]

Or the tight end. That's. I feel like that kind of play is going to be the one that decides the game. It's what the Chief do. It also baits Hertz into throwing what he wants to throw.

[Stugotz]

Right.

[Chris Felica]

But this is where I love this stuff. Is that okay? I know what you know. What? I know what you know.

[Stugotz]

Right? All right.

[Chris Felica]

Does Kellen Moore go, like, all right, now throw the vertical route. Right.

And that's what I. If he does right there. If I see that little hole shot, you know, that little 15 to 20 yarder towards the sideline, I'd be like, oh, the Eagles got some stuff. If I see that pick or that batted a ball or that blow up on a quick out route, that's when I'm like, okay, the Chief's got some stuff.

There's gonna be those little kind of indicators like who's kind of maybe has the mental edge right away.

I love it. It seems, maybe I'm wrong here. It seems like you think the Eagles have a. Have a pretty good shot here. I'm.

And I. And there's nothing where I look at with this Chiefs team where I'm like, oh, that's a glare during week. Like, everything's solid. You know, they just don't create explosives. But the thing is, Mahomes can be methodical and can nickel and dime you, so. And you got Andy Reid on a bye week and you got Steve Spagnol on a pie week. Yeah. It's just. I never go against it, but I do. Eagles can run the ball, stop the run, create explosive play, Stop explosive plays. That's a really good formula too.

And at one time, a ref actually loved that because it was like a no huddle, two minute situation. Like, thanks for getting the ball out there. And I was like, oh, God, that was gonna be fired.
