Chris Cody
Chris Cody, how'd you feel about your performance there with the great Linda Cone?
Nick Wright
I do believe bounced back from that awkward interaction when I tried to do
Linda Cohn
it the first time.
Chris Cody
Yeah, that was okay. I always like talking to Linda Cohn. She's fantastic. Good for her, huh? 35 years. So I do want to let you guys know that right now, if you want to continue bathing in Celtic tears right now on Netflix, don't want you to go. Right now you're watching slash listening to us and then you'll go over. Bill Simmons is doing his reaction. He's doing his reaction podcast to the Jalen Brown trade and apparently I'm being told that the reason he didn't do it last night was because he got a colonoscopy yesterday. When he got the news he thought he died.
Linda Cohn
Wow. And what was worse for him, having somebody put something up his or this trade? I'm just curious.
Chris Cody
You ever have a colonoscopy?
Linda Cohn
I've had a few.
Chris Cody
A few?
Linda Cohn
Yeah, I've had like three.
Chris Cody
Yeah, I've had a colonoscopy once.
Linda Cohn
Thank God for anesthesia. Yep. Oh my gosh.
Chris Cody
Wet and wild. Not fun. So if I could tell you though, last night was awesome. Between the the US Game and the Jaylen Brown news, last night was real. Last night was one of those sports nights that was it was legitimate fun historically.
Jeremy
And if you sample the Worldwide leader, a lot of media personalities go on vacation around this time of year because it's supposed to be the slow time of sport. Serena Williams attempted to come back at Wimble and it can't crack the news cycle. We haven't even discussed today. England versus Dr. Congo. Dr. Congo. England was such an incredible game and it was the first time. And I mean, this happens occasionally with super bowl matchups where the Super Bowl. I'm just rooting for the matchup that I want to see. But I was rooting against Cinderella. Yeah, I was rooting against Dr. Congo. And that goes against most sports fans.
Chris Cody
You didn't want the doctor to win, huh?
Jeremy
I didn't want the doctor to win because I wanted England to go into Azteca Stadium. I wanted that theater. I wanted that theater in the next round. Far more compelling, granted. What's more compelling than Dr. Congo eliminating England so early on, but that game was incredible. Posse was phenomenal until he wasn't letting in the equalizer. And then Harry Kane, who struggled to create space all game long. He could not find any space forces. The issue makes it for himself. An incredible strike. An all time legend for England. An all time moment. That was phenomenal. And on Sunday, we get England versus Mexico in Azteca. Are you guys familiar with Mexico's all time record in competitive matches in Azteca?
Linda Cohn
I am not. Are you? I bet you are.
Jeremy
I am. I'm going to pull it up right now. They have two losses all time. Here is their record in Azteca. Mexico's competitive record. 70 wins, 17 draws, 2 losses all time in Azteca Stadium. That is what England is going up against.
Chris Cody
Wow. I do want to mention we don't have a live show tomorrow because it is 4th of July holiday for this weekend. So we're going to be back on Monday, which is the sixth, which is the day that everything becomes official in the NBA calendar year. Could we be back here on Monday with some major Miami Heat news?
Nick Wright
We could.
Linda Cohn
I think so.
Jeremy
Could be major. Look, LeBron in all likelihood is selecting his next destination.
Chris Cody
You're telling me he doesn't know right now, this weekend? Come on.
Jeremy
It's gonna happen. Remember that 4th of July that was totally hijacked by Gordon Hayward? Think that.
Nick Wright
Is that the. Is that the Kevin Durant one? Think that same year.
Jeremy
Yeah, think that. But now with LeBron, that's awesome.
Nick Wright
It's 10 years later because that was 2016. Here we are once again on LeBron.
Jeremy
Watch.
Nick Wright
The fact that we're sitting here 16 years later doing the same thing and feel the same way, which is right now the same way. It was like, oh, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, like that can definitely compete for the Eastern Conference and hopefully compete for a championship. But if you get LeBron, you can compete for a championship. It's the same way I feel right now. This Heat team, as presently constructed, with whatever additions they can make in the margins, I'm like, that team can compete for the east, but if you get LeBron, you can compete for a championship. It's been 16 years.
Linda Cohn
It's so incredible. He's 25 when they first signed him in 10, 20, 10, 41 now. I still think of him as a great player. I know he's not as great as he once was. Still a great player.
Nick Wright
He's gonna be a grandfather during the season.
Linda Cohn
Wow.
Nick Wright
He's gonna be a grandfather. Brody's partner is pregnant. He's gonna be a grandfather.
Linda Cohn
Right? Will he play long enough for his grandson to play on the team with him?
Nick Wright
If you ask Nick Wright, yes. You guys mentioned the long holiday weekend. Hey, look at me.
Linda Cohn
Look.
Nick Wright
Weekend. Look at me. Rain, stay away. Let's go away.
Chris Cody
Wouldn't have been raining. Rain, go away.
Nick Wright
Hey, stay away.
Jeremy
I've been so unfortunate with these 4th of July tickets that I purchased to Philadelphia. In Philadelphia, I thought I was buying Germany. France. It's, by the way, France. That's a bummer. All right, so now I'm not gonna capitulate. I'm gonna go. I'm going on that trip with my daughter. Here's the weather forecast. 100 degrees, clear skies up until match time. 90% chance of thunderstorms during the match, and any 4th of July plans that you had in Philadelphia, cancel them to wash out.
Nick Wright
Hey, rain, stay away.
Chris Cody
Jeremy, you got some polls you can update for us today.
Nick Wright
If you're a movie guy, are you obligated to know something about the Bond movies? 82% of the audience says yes.
Chris Cody
I hate it.
Nick Wright
Timothy Dalton, question mark, exclamation point. 47% say yes.
Chris Cody
I hate it. What were the options at 40, yes or no? So isn't it 53%? The other side?
Nick Wright
Did the wizard of Oz have one of the best 10 minute opening scenes ever? 47 of the audience says yes.
Chris Cody
I hate it.
Nick Wright
Yes. Now I'm reading the lower number. And. Oh, there are two more I missed. Juju, is calling someone a ghoul an exceptional insult? I'm going to read this one. 69% of the audience say yes.
Chris Cody
I hate it. You ever seen the movie Ghoulies? When I was a kid, that was always in, like, the video store under Horror. I saw the. The. You know, the picture for the movie Ghoulies, Goonies.
Jeremy
Ghoulies,
Chris Cody
mid-80s Ghoulies with an L. Heard of it. L. Ghoulies
Nick Wright
is a zombie. A ghoul. 66% of the audience says no.
Chris Cody
I hate it.
Nick Wright
And those are your polls?

This episode carries the witty, irreverent banter synonymous with The Dan Le Batard Show. The hosts mix earnest sports enthusiasm with offbeat pop culture and family stories, poking fun at fan obsessions and each other while still digging into the drama—and the comedy—of sports and life.
Despite it being the supposed “slow” sports season, this episode sizzles with real-time feels about NBA plotting, wild soccer finishes, and tongue-in-cheek group dynamics. It’s a festive, freewheeling pre-Fourth hang for fans—and a timely highlight reel of why Le Batard and crew remain Miami’s voice for mixing deep context with laughs and spirited debate.
