Now you may think that this is not that important, but as of yesterday, Cam Ward was favored on most sportsbooks to be the number one overall pick. In fact, the head of college scouting over the Tennessee Titans was A.J. highsmith. So I happen to know there was a lot of positive traction for Cam Ward to go number one overall to the Tennessee Titans. But now they are blowing out their front office with this number one pick. So hold on a second. Huge development.

Hold on a second. I want imaging for that because Mike Ryan has now done that about half a dozen times times. The I happen to know is his Adam Schefter.

The I happen to know is his Schwarzenegger. I'll be back. Whatever your catchphrases are, when he hits you with an I happen to know, it's like, hey, I'm not being silly guy here. I've talked to a person who knows a person. This is valuable information. That's Mike being an information broker.

Yeah, I was, I was pretty certain came Ward was going number one to the Tennessee Titans prior to this move. This move is surprising.

Let me talk about Cam Ward for a second because stugats. I don't know if you saw this over the break. I really did enjoy this and I was also confused by it. Like legitimately confused by it. A lot of people objected to my prisoner of the moment. Take that. Cam Ward just had a season so prolific that I'm willing to say that at any position, any time, that's the best quarterback that's ever played for the University of Miami. And outside of Rick Barry, that's the best season I've seen a person have. People thought that I had no sense of history. But I've seen all the quarterbacks who won Heisman's for the University of Miami. Their statistics are dwarfed by Cam Ward.

You're talking just quarterbacks. You're not talking about the Warren Sapps, the Michael Urban.

He did send out a tweet that alluded to him Possibly being the greatest player in program history. And at that point you have to stand down.

Okay, Rick Barry can argue. I'm talking about. I'm talking about a prolific season. I'm talking about what it is the University of Miami just wasted when what I saw was historic greatness by any measure. And when I put the stats in front of you. Cuz this is the part I was legitimately confused by. I'm like, it's not close. I'm not saying something controversial to say that this is the most prolific season a University of Miami quarterback has ever had. It's empirically so. It's not.

It has all the records.

It's not, it's not an opinion. But the arguments I got on behalf of Toretta and Testaverde, because they had better defenses or better coaches or better.

Skill guys or they won a national championship.

But that's the one that fans can't really wrap their head around. And also, look, the eras are a little bit different, but yeah, this, luckily for this program, they have a prestige about them and to, I guess to ring eternal in the minds of many, you have to win big.

Okay, but guys, winning's not a quarterback stat. Like I get it. I get, I get what we're doing there.

And we're legacy.

We've done it for a long time.

Is Joe Burrow's legacy is not just that he was great, is that he won big.

No, but Mike, like the year Gino won the Heisman trophy, he had 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Like Cam Ward had a better season.

It is not remotely a hot take. What Dan said. Cam Ward is the greatest, most prolific quarterback that ever went through that program. If you look at an individual season, it is really impossible to refute.

I think what people are doing there is they know the Cane's history. They know how many national championships they've. They've won and they just imagine, hey, the quarterback hat, the quarterback play had to be great. They don't realize it was Craig Erickson and Steve Walsh and guys like that.

But wait, all right, just, just. Okay, look, it's the lamest of flexes, but okay, you know Kaine's history. Yes, okay, as do I. And I don't like, I've seen the quarterbacks who have played the position. And it's not just numbers on a page when I tell you that Cam Ward had 1500 more yards than Vinnie Testaverde. That he had 39 touchdowns compared to Testaverde's 26, compared to Toretta's 19. That yes, it's different eras, but he also threw fewer interceptions and his completion percentage was better. Like it's not close statistics, it's this guy. And I will tell you again, I saw these two people playing with nothing but first round picks. Like not all over the field, defense, offense. And the coaches are better than these coaches. Like Kane's history. What are you talking about? This is not close. It's not an argument, it's not a controversial opinion. It is as far as subjective things go in sports, a fact.

But you're going to have fans argue even the merits of Ken Dorsey, who would have an argument for this because of the amount that he won. And then you go back and you watch some of Kendor she's throws and you wonder, wow, I remember that differently.

It's also kind of like who cares, you know, like it led to absolutely nothing and it was a one and done year here at us.

The best Miami Hurricane season in damn near 20 years, but it led to nothing.

And he's not like a legacy hurricane, he's just like a gun for hire. He was a mercenary that came down here to try to get them to the playoffs and it didn't happen.

If I may, led to nothing. That, that really undervalues the program, the program that they're trying to build. It's year three of Mario Cristobal. The book on Mario Crisoball was that he was a quarterback killer prior to this.

And a bad in game coach.

But I actually think he did a lot this year to shake that considering the one score games in which he pushed all the right buttons.

I did and I actually don't think he was wrong there. You're entitled to your opinions when it comes to that, but the math is actually in his favor. He kind of corrected that. But the big narrative around him was that look what he did to Justin Herbert. Like this guy kills quarterbacks and he changed that around. In year three of Mario Cristobal, everybody knew this program's heading in the right direction. Kayeward was a big piece of that. So no, I don't think it was all for naught. It was a year that Miami had that I'd been dying 15 years to watch. That wasn't a fraud the way that 2017 felt.

But he needs to get another one now.

He does. He does. But you can't get another one without getting the first one and doesn't get the first one without Cam Ward.

But Billy's point is a good one. There's a difference in terms of how, um, fans remember these quarterbacks. There's a difference between a Geno, a Steve Walsh and Erickson who waited his turn. Then there is, you know, for a hired gun who came in one season, didn't make the playoffs, like fans want to feel differently about those guys.

That's college now, though. Like that. It's just gonna, it is everywhere.

It's not Heisman Trophy transfers, you know, like all of them.

[Billy Gill]

But, you know, that's. But that's part of why it is that I'm surprised by the reaction. Right. You guys do understand that I'm sitting here saying something that I just believe is matter of fact, like it's, it's nothing.
