Dan Le Batard
Have we established what the hell Tony's talking about when he says where were you games in NBA history? Where were you games in NBA history? Where are the where were you things in American history? Space shuttle exploding, assassination attempts, Washington's funeral.
Greg Cody
First man on the moon.
Dan Le Batard
So you're saying five. You've got five.
Tony
What's some Ola sprinkle?
Chris Cody
Last night was not that.
Jessica
Lexington.
Chris Cody
Can't last night just be. It was really cool. It was you. You believe you Luca, like Luca. That seemed genuine last night, but it's not like a. I'm not gonna remember last night when like, I'm like my grandkids. You'll never. Ah, Luca, he was. He got teary eyed.
Jessica
That's a tell your grandkids moment. That's a completely separate.
Tony
That's another list. Exactly.
Chris Cody
But that's a where were you? No, it's the same list. Grandkids in a where were you? Moment are the exact same thing.
Mike Ryan
Not even the most memorable thing that happened in sports last.
Dan Le Batard
Thank you, Messi.
Mike Ryan
Yeah, yeah. Lionel Messi. Doing great things. Coming back from a crazy aggregate deficit. They lost the first leg at LAFC 1 0. And then in the first 10 minutes of that game last night, they went down 1 0, which not only put them behind on aggregate 2 0, but it gave LAFC something that Inter Miami hadn't had, which was A road goal. So to win that game in advance of the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions cup, they needed to win that game against a good LAFC team, three to one. And I know Messi catches some crap sometimes because his style, he walks around. What's so hard? Not last night. 96 minutes of that dude trying his damnedest all game long. That dude cared last night, and he put that team on his shoulders. It was a wonderful game, honestly. Hand of God, among the most fun soccer games I've experienced.
Dan Le Batard
Where were you? Game.
Mike Ryan
I was on my couch.
Dan Le Batard
There was a. Where were you? Game. There was.
Tony
That's a soccer, though. That's a different list. That's a completely different list.
Mike Ryan
You know, I love soccer. I'm a soccer sicko.
Dan Le Batard
Tell your grandkids. Game.
Mike Ryan
I'm a soccer sicko. There's something about this competition in particular which is really difficult for American teams to win. It's been around since the 1960s. It's really mattered here in the United states for probably 30 years. And famously, Mexican teams always win it. It is really difficult to win this competition because randomly you'll have something that happened a couple of weeks ago, which is Inter, Miami and your whole team. You got to go over to Jamaica and play on a rough pitch and in weird conditions that you're not used to. It really challenges those MLS teams. This one was an MLS team against an MLS team. No doubt a good MLS team against another good MLS team. I don't understand why he cared so much.
Chris Cody
Doesn't that validate the naysayers, that it's so palpable and it's like, oh, that's what that looks like. When it's like, you don't see that all the time.
Mike Ryan
No, I understand. And there was a really funny moment around, like, minute 94 where you're screaming at your TV, what are you guys doing? Just hold the ball. There was like a three man weave of Jordy Alba, Luis Suarez and leo Messi. It's three on one and they are gassed. They got nothing. And in 2015, that would have been a surefire goal. In 2025. It's just hilarious to watch when those guys are on fumes. But the effort was there all night. That is a massive undertaking. Yeah, they get lucky with a handball in the. In the box. That draws a pen. Messi takes a brilliant pen against Hugo Llores.
Dan Le Batard
And that's in the 86th minute though, right?
Mike Ryan
Yeah. No, and keep in mind, like, Messi had contributed. He had scored on a free kick that they called back because he took it too quickly and he had scored, he had assisted on a Luis Suarez header because Suarez was a bit offside. So he, he scored a wonderful goal, a goal that few people on the planet can still do right now with how he dribbled through traffic. This was what you wanted to see when Leo Messi came over to the United States was him put an MLS team just on his back and decide, you know what? I'm that much better than everybody. I'm not gonna let my team lose today.
Dan Le Batard
Can we talk? Can we talk? Greg, as a. I don't know why it is you're leaning back from the microphone. This would seem to be the Greg Cody wheelhouse if he actually cared about the soccer the way that he did. And in the 1800s when he covered the Fort Lauderdale strikers here in town in a stadium near the one where Messi, the greatest in the world, greatest ever plays. Now what Mike is saying, it's not near.
Mike Ryan
It's the exact same spot, same ground.
Dan Le Batard
Very near there it's moved, it's sunk.
Greg Cody
Since that's incredibly near there, right on it.
Mike Ryan
Many are saying it's right on top of that area. But this is a game that prior to yesterday, Greg, you were arguing that this might arguably be the biggest game in Inter Miami's history.
Greg Cody
I was because last year in this same tournament, it's a notable international tournament. I mean it's not the World cup, it's not, it's a regional tournament, but.
Mike Ryan
It'S not one that was just microwave.
Greg Cody
Like the league, like the leagues Cup. It's a big tournament. Last year they lost in this round, now they're in the, in the semifinals and. But I was leaning back, literally agreeing with and sort of nodding my head at what you were saying about Messi. It's almost unfathomable to say because he's arguably the, the, the most famous athlete in the world. I think at this stage in his career he's, he's under regarded. He's taken for granted in a way how American sports fans think of Tom Brady and LeBron James. The examples of the ageless wonder that's Lionel Messi in soccer right now.
Dan Le Batard
Well, can I though as we partake in watching the age of Mastery here, the thing that Mike is talking about, okay, wherever it is that soccer hasn't grabbed hold with America, wherever it is that Messi behind the paywall and Apple isn't showcasing this the greatest genius you've ever seen in this sport for everybody. When Mike talks about the chemistry of two and three gas dudes who have played forever and can manipulate the system because they're so much better than these particular guys that even gas that the three of them have the chemistry to be like you guys who are aficionados. Oh, look at the old guys doing the tricky things at the end here. That actually saved the season. Even though 96 minute is nuts. Messi's gotta be exhausted.
Mike Ryan
Oh, he was, dude. He was rightfully exhausted. They don't have the legs that they used T.O. and MLS will rightfully catch a lot of crap. But it is an athletic league. There are big, strong, fast dudes in this league that are faster than Messi. But I do agree with Greg that Messi is under regarded right now because as you'll see in international competitions, even next year at Dollars of Donuts, he's among.
Dan Le Batard
That's crazy.
Mike Ryan
You can see he's among the top 10, top, top 15 attacking players still on the planet right now. People are right to hold against him that he's doing this presently in mls. That being said, when he goes away on international break and plays for his country, he is still the talisman for that. He is still every bit the Messi that we saw a year and a half ago.
Dan Le Batard
You can't say he's on. You can't say.
Mike Ryan
I haven't really seen guarded. I haven't really seen a drop off in his form. When he's healthy. You could say that, well, he's less available and that isn't an ability. But he was just dynamite last night. And the thing that really jumped off for a player that is often scrutinized about his effort level because of how he approaches the game. I would argue he's always been smart about conserving his energy. That was not the case. It was palpable. The desperation and it's pretty cool because it's not like we're. Yeah, Stugatz will criticize him, saying soccer is dead. And there might be people that only pay attention on the media side to have a go at him for not winning this trophy. But the fact remains he's won two trophies already in his two seasons down here in Miami. Quietly also, and Moss got asked about this. There is ambiguity surrounding whether or not he's going to be back with a team next year. He's Jorge Moss is being asked these questions. His contract allows for that ambiguity. Right now he's won two trophies. There's only two other trophies available to him. He's in the semifinal of one and I guess mls, what will happen is we'll just play whack a mole. And the one trophy that's not left for him to win will be the one that will decide is the most important. But I will say, historically, four great MLS teams, the toughest trophy to win is the competition he was playing in last night. Now he caught. I don't think it's a break because Vancouver's had a really difficult path in this competition. But he doesn't have to play Pumas doesn't have to go to Mexico, but he will have to play a semifinal leg in Vancouver and then fly all the way back to get to the final, which will undoubtedly be against a Mexican team.
Greg Cody
Yeah, when I say he's under regarded, what I mean is even when they signed him two years ago, I think it was reasonable to think, all right, he's coming here as an end of career vacation. You know, he's not the player he once was. We're going to see less Messi than the world has seen.
Chris Cody
Lessi.
Dan Le Batard
Less.
Greg Cody
But, but I don't think as with LeBron right now, as with Tom Brady late in his career, I don't think that the diminishment of his game is all that palpable.
Mike Ryan
No, no it's not. And for, for me, the most encouraging thing about this entire experiment is Busquets was suspended last night. He was living and dying. Suarez cared. Jordi Alba cared. Messi cares. Walking off the pitch, I saw Olivier Giroud for lafc. I'm like, he played. I had no idea. Oftentimes this is a league where people just go to coast and retire. And Messi could have done that after winning the World Cup. It was one thing that people were holding against him and he did it on the grandest stage. He carried his team. He in an all time game. He comes over here, he doesn't have to care that much. He's at the end of his career and he freaking cares. And it was really cool to see.
Greg Cody
Yeah. And he played 90 minutes in the previous game in the MLS match a few days before that, which sort of surprised me. I thought they were going to save him for the CCC match, but. So he wasn't rested. Which is the argument against Messi is that they rest him too much. I think he missed at least a dozen games last season, but, but he, he wasn't arrested Messi, but he was a brilliant Messi and it delivered on.
Mike Ryan
All the crazy CONCACAF Champions cup antics. Fouls that would be red cards anywhere else on the planet. Were, were warnings were yellows. He Absolutely got pulverized. It was assault that happened on that pitch when he had a counterattack that would have been a surefire goal. This dude Marlin just absolutely flattened him and led to a scuffle on the field. It was.
Greg Cody
It.
Mike Ryan
It was really compelling, dramatic stuff that maybe half a percentage of our audience even knew how to find.
Dan Le Batard
Well, I would say beyond that, that the audience has been desperately waiting for Tony's where were you Games. As you guys talked about a game last night that people watching.
Mike Ryan
That's right, it was on today.
Dan Le Batard
That's right, people watching last night. Where do I get this magical game that's behind a paywall? You seeing Mike Ryan and Greg Cody finally get to talk together about a soccer game last night as Tony waited patiently for them to stop droning so that he could talk about the most Latin of sports, basketball.
Tony
Thank you, Dan.
Roy
Finally.
Tony
That's what everybody's watching last night in a where were you? Moment. This is something that's the next generation of the NBA. Luka is on the Mount Rushmore of this next generation. And in 10, 15, 20 years, we're going to look back and be like, damn, I remember when the Mavs traded Luca to the Lakers and then he won four championships. Whatever. Like whatever that history ends up being.
Chris Cody
I'll remember the trade. Not last night.
Tony
No, you're going to remember the night he went back.
Chris Cody
The trade, dude, no, Dallas.
Greg Cody
Dallas remembers that.
Mike Ryan
That is an incredible point, Chris. I will 100% more vividly remember being in my house, getting the Shams bomb on my phone, being like, babe, you got to see this.
Chris Cody
Not to undercut your list, though. Go ahead.
Dan Le Batard
It feels like.
Jessica
Let's narrow the list. Let's say of all of the moments of this NBA season and will include future games that haven't been played yet. Crazy things that could happen in the playoffs. We will remember this game, right, Tony?
Tony
This. No, this year for sure. But in this game, it will live in.
Mike Ryan
What will you remember more, the trade or the game?
Tony
I remember him sitting up at the score or scoreboard, looking up at the tribute video with tears in his eyes.
Mike Ryan
But you'll remember. You'll remember that more vividly than the shocking.
Tony
Yes, because. Because I was asleep during the trade.
Mike Ryan
Do you remember when you woke up?
Tony
Yeah, I do remember. But the game, I. I have more burned in my memory, him crying.
Greg Cody
You were.
Jessica
You were in your bed.
Tony
I was in my bed crying. I mean, not crying. The baby was crying.
Chris Cody
Never has a bit been more undercut than we are doing right now.
Greg Cody
It's okay.
Tony
It's welcome to my life. Hold on.
Dan Le Batard
No, hold on, hold on.
Mike Ryan
I already forgot.
Roy
What?
Tony
Billy's not even here.
Mike Ryan
I don't even know.
Dan Le Batard
Hold on. I, I, I.
Jessica
Shut up, Mike.
Mike Ryan
Inter Miami.
Tony
Well, this guy doesn't watch hoops, so we should just eliminate him.
Mike Ryan
I watch that game.
Tony
You watch it on your third TV in silence.
Mike Ryan
And the third TV is the same size as the second tv.
Jessica
You've told us you're not a fan. It's, it's not for you. This is not for you.
Mike Ryan
Fair enough.
Greg Cody
He's a fan. He's.
Jessica
And Tony, I'm trying to help you because I know you are.
Tony
Thank you.
Jessica
You probably won't. Watchers know 10 years where you were. But of this season, you'll remember it.
Home Depot Announcer
You.
Mike Ryan
Did you know that Doug Chrissy is a coach of the Kings?
Dan Le Batard
You didn't just call Jess a ball watcher.
Tony
Yeah, she watches hoops, dude.
Mike Ryan
She does.
Jessica
I mean I am quite literally a ball watcher.
Mike Ryan
Dan.
Dan Le Batard
Jessica.
Jessica
Guilty.
Dan Le Batard
Jessica was delighted. The sinister glee on her face. To think that you think that last night was one of the top five most historic moments that we will all remember forever. When nobody agrees with you and you're getting ganged up on. And she was, she was just happy to lure you a little further into the pit. Please tell them more about how last night was all time memorable.
Jessica
No, you're wrong. Nothing sinister happening. I'm trying to help Tony out because in a room full of people that admit they do not watch the sport and they are not fans of it, they're trying to undercut something that was a meaningful moment.
Chris Cody
Yeah, but you're basketball.
Dan Le Batard
You're.
Chris Cody
I agree with you. Of this season. It's a top five where were you? Moment. But he's making it an all time NBA.
Mike Ryan
There are several people in this room that can attest. There was one person that called out trapping the ball screen in the national championship game and that was me. All right. None of, none of you other people caught on to that. I did.
Dan Le Batard
Ball watcher, Mike.
Tony

Don LeBatard.
Greg Cody
I want to address Tony and all men who would wear that shirt in public. Stugats don't do it.
Roy
This is the Dan Levatar show with the Stugats.
Tony
All right, Oli Lucas return to Dallas.
Chris Cody
Now, the fact that it's an Oli. I like this.
Tony
Let me do my thing. No, man. Let me do my thing.
Mike Ryan
Did you know about Doug Christie? That's crazy.
Tony
You know, Max Christie not related to Doug Christie. Max Christie having a really good year for Dallas.
Mike Ryan
I don't know who that trade is.
Tony
In the trade.
Mike Ryan
Oh, wait, no. He was a guy with a name.
Jessica
Because you didn't watch.
Tony
Because you don't watch the damn games, Mike.
Dan Le Batard
I have no idea.
Mike Ryan
Max Christie had his nameplate removed while he was giving an interview. Yeah, I don't know that guy.
Tony
Okay, so he was on the Lakers. He got traded as part of the package. Now he's in Dallas. Good young player, by the way.
Mike Ryan
Doug. Chrissy loves sex.
Tony
Oli number whatever. Kobe's 81 point game.
Mike Ryan
That got regulated. ESPN too, because the warriors were going for the win record and ESPN decided.
Tony
Kobe's game, not his 81 point game.
Mike Ryan
No, you're talking about the Toronto one.
Tony
Yeah, I'm talking about the Toronto one from back in the day. Sorry, did not get regulated.
Mike Ryan
How many did he have in his final game?
Tony
81 point game. Oh, no. More on that in a second.
Mike Ryan
Okay.
Greg Cody
Yeah.
Tony
Kobe's final game. 60 points. Final game, 2016. It was a where were you moment. It was the. It was the moment that. All right, Kobe, it's finally done. Come off the achilles tear, score 60. They let him lay out and shoot a million times. He gets there, and then obviously we know what happens as part of his legacy. Very sad. That's a whole another world war. Were you moment. I was in Thailand, by the way, when that happened. When Kobe passed away. That's another list of another time.
Dan Le Batard
Different than what you'll tell your grandkids.
Tony
I'll tell them like I was in Thailand and I woke up to my phone exploding at 4 o'clock in the morning in Thailand and I was like, what happened? What happened? Kobe died.
Chris Cody
Kobe passing away is a I know exactly where I was moment.
Mike Ryan
No doubt.
Chris Cody
Driving back from Orlando, it was pretty.
Mike Ryan
Crazy that ESPN decided the warriors going for the regular season win record. That gets on ESPN 1. Kobe's final game. ESPN 2.
Tony
Oli number whatever. Kobe's Achilles game where he tears the Achilles, goes back to. Goes back to the free throw line. Sinks two free throws.
Dan Le Batard
Dan games two Kobe.
Tony
Oh, yeah. Three Kobe situations.
Chris Cody
Yeah, the Oli.
Dan Le Batard
Well, yeah. Two games.
Tony
Number five.
Mike Ryan
There we go.
Tony
Another Kobe game. But not for this reason. Okay. 2004 Western Conference semis. The Derek Fiser 0.4 lefty shot.
Dan Le Batard
Oh, yeah.
Tony
That was a crazy.
Dan Le Batard
After Duncan had just won the game.
Tony
Exactly.
Mike Ryan
This is going to be a good list if we're including postseason.
Chris Cody
Yeah, but no one knows where they like, I remember that game, but I don't remember where I was.
Mike Ryan
I don't remember where I was.
Tony
Bad for you. I. I remember where I was for all these games. I don't. I don't. I was watching the game at home, but I was in the stands.
Mike Ryan
I was living with my grandparents.
Greg Cody
See?
Mike Ryan
But.
Jessica
But like that doesn't. You might not have a house.
Mike Ryan
Yeah, I don't remember where I was.
Jessica
Do you guys remember where you were when LeBron won in 2016?
Mike Ryan
Yeah.
Chris Cody
Yes.
Jessica
I don't think I do.
Mike Ryan
Yeah. I was at World of Beer and I was so pissy.
Tony
Was that bruise room, the Kendall one?
Mike Ryan
Yeah, that was that. I was so mad. Oh, my God. Draymond, you idiot.
Greg Cody
Oh, no.
Chris Cody
It was bow campers, not bruise room number four.
Tony
Important distinction D. Wade's this is my house game.
Chris Cody
Another one. I remember the game. Don't know where I was.
Greg Cody
Make up where you were.
Chris Cody
I was at home.
Tony
Thank you, Greg.
Greg Cody
There you go. Thank you.
Tony
Thank you, Greg.
Dan Le Batard
Tony, where were you?
Greg Cody
I was at home.
Tony
I was watching the game at home.
Chris Cody
This is annoying.
Dan Le Batard
Look, the investor investigation falls apart when we ask you where you were and you don't actually know because you. Because these aren't remember where you are.
Jessica
Assume you were at home.
Chris Cody
Games.
Tony
I was watching the game. I was watching the game at home. I remember watching the game at Home.
Mike Ryan
Can't believe they left Kevin Love on an island against Steph. And he held his own.
Dan Le Batard
This is just a memorable games list.
Chris Cody
Ridiculous.
Tony
Where were you?
Dan Le Batard
This is asinine.
Tony
Where were you during the D. Wade game?
Dan Le Batard
No.
Tony
Were you there?
Chris Cody
I don't remember.
Dan Le Batard
No. I don't remember where I was at any of these times. They are all memorable games. Games. I was at home.
Tony
Thank you. Okay, now you're playing the game.
Dan Le Batard
But when Kobe died, I think because I don't know what month it was. So I may have this January.
Tony
Okay.
Jessica
So it was the week of super bowl week in Miami. So I. I remember I was on a flight to Miami with Charlotte and we were sitting next to each other and I was like, whoa.
Mike Ryan
I remember everyone was like, I think I'm coming down with something. I was coveted. We all had Covid.
Dan Le Batard
I was at a garbage dump. Yeah. I was throwing away a Christmas tree when I learned that you don't just.
Mike Ryan
Chuck it outside in the front of your house.
Dan Le Batard
No, I was in a place that collects trees. So that you're not just doing that to the.
Greg Cody
Oh, no, but they do that arcane detail.
Chris Cody
Littering.
Dan Le Batard
Well, that's. You remember. What do you mean it's arcane?
Mike Ryan
The county doesn't pick it up. Some. Some hillbilly down in Homestead will see that's believable.
Greg Cody
When you make up something like that, people will believe you because it's so specific.
Dan Le Batard
But I do. But I thought that was the point of what we were doing, not just Tony's home every time.
Tony
I mean, you know, number three, NBA finals game six, the Ray Allen game. I wasn't home there. I was at a Hooters.
Mike Ryan
I was at Keg South.
Greg Cody
Oh, wow.
Tony
Classic spot. I went there for many a dude playoff games. I was in a Hooters in Daytona beach because I was coaching a kids team. And me and all the coaches went out after to catch the game. Found it at Hooters. And then we went to Ale House right after that. Dan. So I wasn't home.
Chris Cody
That was a dark period, that fourth. Like when we fell behind.
Greg Cody
I was scared.
Chris Cody
I was in my bedroom with all the lights off with my sheets so you can only see my face emerging.
Mike Ryan
Where were you?
Tony
Where were.
Chris Cody
The Ray Allen shot? I remember exactly. That's the first one where I'm like that.
Dan Le Batard
I remember exactly those fire ups on her beer flying. I was in the stands tweeting at how bad Miami fans were for moving early.
Chris Cody
See, that's the first. The first one you've said Where? I'm like, okay, that's a. Where were you?
Mike Ryan
I know where Sugots wasn't.
Dan Le Batard
He was outside trying to get back into the arena because he was one of those people who had left early after several seasons of scalping his tickets.
Chris Cody
See, that's the first one Tony actually remembers where he was.
Tony
I was. I know. I know, exactly. The thing is, I was outside of my house.
Dan Le Batard
Chris is on to you. This is a member games list.
Tony
Who doesn't?
Mike Ryan
Alehouse in the Tri county area. They're mostly owned independently, so we don't have to worry about the bankruptcy one. Because I can tell you that Doral one ain't going anywhere.
Tony
Yeah, the Dora one's strong.
Dan Le Batard
I don't even want the last.
Tony
No, no, there's two more. There's two more, Dan, you want these?
Dan Le Batard
I don't.
Tony
This is number two. Number two, the game to save the blueprint 2012 in Boston. Game six. 45 from LeBron with the scowl. Dan, where were you?
Dan Le Batard
I was at Boppy's house, okay?
Mike Ryan
You know where I was? Keg South.
Tony
That's how it became a spot. I was at my buddy Tommy's house, okay? Watching the game at Tommy's house on his couch. We were terrified. Cause the blueprint was over. Dan, I listened to you that day. You said, the blueprint's over if they lose. And I was very worried.
Dan Le Batard
My father did the strangest thing that night I have ever seen him do because I was there and I was sitting on his couch with my girlfriend and my father, who got so nervous that while he was watching during all of that, for reasons I will not be able to explain to this day, in the living room, just dropped his pants and was standing there in his underwear. He just got scared.
Chris Cody
He was all he fans. That was all of us.
Tony
His house.
Dan Le Batard
Just like Wade. But why do I. Why do I remember that? Because my father, for some reason, was in his tighty white. He's just in. In the fourth quarter. Scared.
Mike Ryan
Most scared I've ever been leading up to a game in my entire life. I straight up haven't been able to the same way since.
Greg Cody
Did you ever say, dad, why'd you drop your pants?
Dan Le Batard
We all did. We all did.
Tony
His house, though, Greg.
Chris Cody
Poor girlfriend.
Mike Ryan
Wait, you all dropped your pants?
Dan Le Batard
We all. All of Miami was that scared. I'm afraid I'm gonna shit myself. I'm. I'm. I'm afraid that my insides. There's going to be an evacuation. Let me drop my pants. Perhaps that will solve things.
Tony
Maybe. Maybe and you guys will remember this more than I will. But after game six, where Ray Allen hits that shot going back to number three for a second on the way back from Daytona Beach, I was listening to the show the entire time. And you guys were stoking fear in every Heat fan's heart. And I think Chris Cody went to go pick up Bill Simmons and bring him back because he did an hour that day because he was coming to the game. Game seven.
Chris Cody
I drove my mom's car because my car, I was like, I can't pick up Bill Simmons in my car.
Mike Ryan
Yeah, we all said, you cannot pick up Bill Simmons in your car.
Chris Cody
Mom, I need your car today. Got to pick up Bill Simmons.
Tony
Another where were you? Situation. All right, number one of the where were you? Games. Malice at the Palace.
Mike Ryan
I was home watching.
Jessica
How old were you when that happened?
Tony
That's what, 2003. I was four.
Mike Ryan
Like my brother in law. It was like a district playoff game.
Tony
Wow.
Mike Ryan
Yeah. I wasn't even watching the game. And then I. This is like. I looked it up. My Metro PCs. I'm like, what is. How can I find clips of those?
Chris Cody
This was a top three with filler.
Dan Le Batard
It was fat. And it was just a memorable games list. And were you.
Mike Ryan
That was a wonderful stroll down memory.
Dan Le Batard
It was. I'm not going to love that.
Mike Ryan
All right, Greg, you go.
Tony
Nothing to cough.
Jessica
How did you get Mike's support? I completely lost mine in the span of this list. Tony.
Tony
It's more Heat stuff.
Mike Ryan
I think this guy's being dudes.
Dan Le Batard
Jessica was so happy at the start of this segment, and you took it from her. She was just.
Mike Ryan
I did. You know what? I didn't understand that the list would invoke when basketball was actually.
Greg Cody
I have one.
Tony
I saw the vision.
Mike Ryan
Right? You see the vision now I see it.
Dan Le Batard
The game was the game. Greg Cody has one. I think we should all get out of the way. And.
Chris Cody
Well, he interrupted because I said in his ear, do you have any we could go to? He's like, I have one.
Greg Cody
In his ear.
Chris Cody
I'm like, you have a few we could go to. And then on air. And he interrupted. Mike, he's just like, I have a couple that I could say, no.
Greg Cody
I was thinking of one when Tony was doing it. And I don't blame him for not putting it on the list because I'm the only one in this room who was alive at the time. But a where were you?
Jessica
Moment when Nate Smith invented the rules of basketball.
Greg Cody
No, not, not.
Chris Cody
Not Jackie Robinson.
Greg Cody
Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game. I was seven years old. You don't remember that In Hollywood, Florida, at 14:40, watching on a black and white Sylvania television set.
Dan Le Batard
This is a great. This is a great story here. No, because nobody believes that game happened.
Greg Cody
It's. It's a 100 point game and it did happen.
Chris Cody
Jack.
Greg Cody
Well, you know, I thought it was.
Jessica
Like famously not televised.
Dan Le Batard
I think he's. Jack might be making this whole thing up. No, I don't think. I don't think there's proof of him scoring. Like, I don't think we have seen video proof of him scoring the 100, have we?
Greg Cody
Yeah, it was. It was. He held up a sign after the game.
Mike Ryan
No, but that's not the same.
Dan Le Batard
That's all.
Tony
I think there's a Mandela effect going on. Yeah.
Greg Cody
I think that you think that's a conspiracy theory.
Dan Le Batard
I think it wasn't televised. I don't think there's a lot of video of that game. I think there's just like one grainy.
Greg Cody
Photograph or something telling you I watched it on tv.
Chris Cody
No, I don't trust you couldn't have.
Greg Cody
Watched it on tv.
Jessica
According to the Library of Congress, the amazing performance wasn't televised. And there's no videotape of the game, only a Philadelphia radio station broadcast.
Chris Cody
You're full of it. You're just making that memory.
Greg Cody
Maybe it's a figment of my imagination.
Mike Ryan
And obviously Shazam Movie we're all revealing.
Jessica
We did not listen to Pablo's episode about this.
Mike Ryan
No doubt, no doubt. I guarantee you, you all remember where you were. The first ever XFL game too.
Dan Le Batard
I remember what was on the television. I don't remember where I physically was. Like, I remember he hate me and all that stuff.
Chris Cody
That's that I remember.
Mike Ryan
But I don't know where Ryan Clement.
Dan Le Batard
I cannot. Look, I. Forgive me, because I need to stop everything that we're doing right now. We need to stop everything that we're doing. As badly as I have wanted all show to get to Greg Cody and how much he enjoys cleaning his toilets, which I do want to get to, I don't want to skip past what just happened, which is that Greg Cody just falsified a total memory and was caught live on air remembering a story, I have one that he doesn't have, that it was a fake story that cannot be true, that was immediately refuted. And so he's arguing that he's remembering something that he can't remember.
Greg Cody
Well, it was real in my mind.
Chris Cody
It doesn't mean anything.
Greg Cody
No, it was.
Mike Ryan
I mean, it means a lot these days.
Dan Le Batard
Yeah.
Greg Cody
Thank you.
Mike Ryan
Tigers first Masters win. Tiger's last Masters win. Both of those where were you?
Roy
Moments.
Greg Cody
I remember The Lasters in one year, after Wilt scored 100 points in a game, JFK was assassinated. Another big moment for Dallas.
Chris Cody
Where were you?
Greg Cody
And I was let home from elementary school early.
Dan Le Batard
I don't believe anything you're saying.
Greg Cody
Because of the tragedy.
Dan Le Batard
No, no. The last story was patently false.
Greg Cody
I wouldn't joke about. About an assassin.
Dan Le Batard
You weren't joking about Wilt Chamberlain.
Greg Cody
No, I wasn't. I believe that I saw that game on a Sylvania black and white set.
Mike Ryan
It's a Sylvania detail that.
Greg Cody
It was one of those big console things where the.
Chris Cody
Oh, it wasn't a flat screen.
Greg Cody
No, I know.
Chris Cody
That's why.
Greg Cody
Yeah. And oddly enough, my dad also dropped his pants during that game. But seriously, Wild Bill. No, I remember the JFK assassination game. I also remember the Red Sox game.
Tony
What game?
Greg Cody
I mean, the. It was not a game.
Chris Cody
The first video game.
Greg Cody
I remember the Red Sox Cardinals game in 1967 in the world Series. They also let us watch that game on tv.
Dan Le Batard
Is he on pills?
Chris Cody
Yeah. I don't know what's happening.
Dan Le Batard
He sat in the. I. He sat in the assassination game. He just.
Chris Cody
That was on me.
Dan Le Batard
He just summoned a memory. That is not a memory.
Greg Cody
No, it's a memory, Greg. Might be a false memory, but it's a memory, Greg.
Mike Ryan
That's his, and you can't take it.
Greg Cody
Thank you.
Dan Le Batard
I can take it, and I will take Mark. He's right, Greg.
Greg Cody
Yeah.
Dan Le Batard
You saw a photo of Wilt Chamberlain holding up the sign, a famous photo of him holding up a sign with a piece of paper that said 100 on it. And you've conjured a memory from that that does not exist because you just remember your childhood. Television.
Greg Cody
The Big Dipper. I think that was Will Snicker.
Tony
Yeah, he's right about that. He's a Big Dipper.
Mike Ryan
That's my bad.
Greg Cody
Yeah. And if it wasn't, it should have been. No, I vividly remember. Remember watching that game.
Mike Ryan
What game was on the Sylvania then?
Chris Cody
Vivid. You vividly remember it?
Greg Cody
Yeah, I do.
Mike Ryan
Do you remember where you were when Dale died?
Greg Cody
Who? Oh, Dale Earnhardt. Yeah. I was watching the. The race from home. And I remember the year after that. The Herald actually sent me to Daytona to cover the race because he had died the previous year.
Jessica
Do you remember the John Hinckley shooting Ronald Reagan game?
Greg Cody
I do. I do Not. I remember Chapman, or whatever his name is, killing John Lennon outside.
Jessica
That was a crazy game.
Dan Le Batard
Put it on the Poll Juju at Le Batard show. Do you like cleaning your toilet?
Greg Cody
Oh, God, who doesn't?
Chris Cody
We can't do this without stugats, right? I mean, I guess he decided that.
Tony
He didn't want to play.
Jessica
He drove all the way here.
Dan Le Batard
It's strange.
Greg Cody
Yes. I hope he feels better.
Dan Le Batard
Why do you like cleaning your toilet?
Greg Cody
Because it's the small pleasures in life that satisfy me the most. And cleaning a toilet. This began when my wife was critical of the state of the bowl that I would leave.
Tony
Oh, God.
Greg Cody
And so I bought one.
Jessica
That's a sentence.
Tony
No, but.
Dan Le Batard
No, look, he said he was good around the bathroom. Look, Jessica, we have done.
Greg Cody
It's human. No, I'm a human being of the bull.
Chris Cody
Yes, that is a sentence.
Dan Le Batard
Jessica, I'm with you on this. Keep in mind the Cody's are kind of disgusting. Okay. And we aired and did something that was as bad as anything that we have done on television since being on television, which is without knowing how and why they are so gross. We made the judgment one day of just showing a bowl that Greg had left for his wife that she was complaining about. Those things shouldn't be televised. We should not have televised. Revised it. It was. It was disgusting. But the Cody's are so disgusting that they are not disgusted by this.
Jessica
How have we reached a point, forgot about that media, where like 60 years ago, Wilt Chamberlain has this famous basketball game not on TV, but now in 2025, Greg Cody talking about the state of the toilet bowl is something that's.
Chris Cody
Televised because you have people that clean your house. So you're not cleaning toilets.
Greg Cody
They're there once a week and I.
Dan Le Batard
Bet you they've been stuck with some of these toilets because Greg doesn't mind leaving a toilet.
Greg Cody
Well, that was the old me. Wow. Now that I love cleaning a toilet, I've adopted it almost as a hobby. If we're being real. I bought one of those Libman brand.
Dan Le Batard
Please stop making that gesture.
Tony
What was that?
Mike Ryan
That's what I call them.
Jessica
You're sitting next to him right now.
Tony
The thing with the stiff brush, still the same gesture. Be careful.
Greg Cody
Yeah. I mean, it's just. It's satisfying. It really is. And then that bowl sparkles. And that's something your mother was getting on me about.
Mike Ryan
There's an incredible toilet bowl hack that we can teach you with Fabulouso.
Greg Cody
Really?
Mike Ryan
Yeah. Yeah. You put it in the tank, you cut out A little hole near the.
Tony
Top of the bottle.
Jessica
It's called Eat more Fiber.
Greg Cody
I don't take shortcuts. Okay. I believe in doing the wand myself. Cleaning what I've left sparkles that bowl.
Jessica
It's called try Probiotics.
Greg Cody
Probiotics. Whatever. Amateur bionics.
Jessica
No, I make it nil now.
Greg Cody
I prefer cleaning my own toilet. I really do, and I'm proud of it.
Dan Le Batard
Nil deserved better than that. You were doing that to Cody, right?
Chris Cody
Yes.
Greg Cody
What about?
Jessica
Yeah, my joke was funny.
Chris Cody
Yeah, you're good, Jess.
Greg Cody
Okay.
Dan Le Batard
Greg.
Greg Cody
Yeah?
Dan Le Batard
Does anyone listening to this like to clean a toilet? Like what?
Greg Cody
What he satisfying?
Mike Ryan
Absolutely not.
Greg Cody
I was looking at the painting a room. Okay. People say.
Tony
I hate to pay people to do that.
Greg Cody
No, I'm sorry, but ew.
Jessica
Listen to yourself.
Tony
Look how good my list was now, huh?
Mike Ryan
Your list was great.
Dan Le Batard
Jessica. He does not realize, and neither does his son, that he's disgusting because I clean a toilet.
Greg Cody
What's the say to your bowl?
Dan Le Batard
Always clean.
Greg Cody
Okay?
Mike Ryan
I make sure of it.
Dan Le Batard
You know how you feel.
Greg Cody
What I heard.
Dan Le Batard
Wait a minute. Is it. Did you hear it from the same person you watched the Wilt Chamberlain game with Sylvania?
Greg Cody
I have an inside source, yep.
Dan Le Batard
Really? You and my wife are talking about how I leave the bowl?
Greg Cody
I, I, it's happen. No prying necessary. She's volunteering it and you know it.
Dan Le Batard
How is it possible that Greg Cody is claiming to remember a game that was not televised? Like, I cannot make up how ridiculous that is. And that he's sitting here still believing it, like, yeah, resolute.
Greg Cody
I may be mistaking it for another game, because you obviously are. At that time in my life, I was a big Celtics fan, okay? Bob Cousy, John Havlicek, Bill Russell, bona fides. Those are the days that other than following Carly Ostremsky and the Red Sox and Willie Mays and the Giants, say, hey, kid, those 60s Celtics. Because I was born in Massachusetts, raised me on sports, made me love sports.
Dan Le Batard
Before we get out of here for the day today, something I failed to do in my poor coverage of the national championships in basketball, where I just completely complained about how terrible the game was instead of celebrating, you know, whatever. A championship was decided by an arbitrary measurement in March. The idea that we have not talked about my just rabid, rabid rage and then enjoyment of seeing Jim Nance lose at the end because he's had enough success. I felt bad about that. I didn't like looking inside of myself and being like, Jim Nance's life has been charmed enough. I don't need to have Houston win the championship here. And I'd be okay with even Florida winning it because Jim Nance does not need to win anymore.
Mike Ryan
Well, Jim Nance is winning. This is the farewell for Jim Nance at Augusta. And I don't know how you guys are bracing for when that day comes. 11 years from now.
Jessica
It's going to make me very sad when that day comes. But in the meantime, I noticed earlier today that the chairman of Augusta looks like BJ from Righteous Gemstones in 50 years. And that has made me laugh all day.
Mike Ryan
Have you heard, have you ever heard in your entire life of an 11 year retirement plan?
Jessica
Guys, it's BJ picture him pole dancing. It's hilarious.
Chris Cody
Who's going to replace him, you think?
Mike Ryan
I don't even want to think about it. Yeah, I can't even come to grips with it.
Jessica
Someone's kid.
Mike Ryan
Do you think Vern Lundqvist is just.
Chris Cody
There sitting in a treehouse? Treehouse never leaves.
Mike Ryan
Never leaves. Good to see you guys back again. Who you got calling it this year? I know I'm out, but I'm staying here.
Dan Le Batard
They're just gonna give it to Jim Nance's kid, aren't they?
Chris Cody
He works hard.
Dan Le Batard
Nobody else felt this way watching Jim Nance lose at the end. Oh, he's.
Mike Ryan
Jack.
Roy
