Stu Gotts
Foreign McGill has shown up. Thank you. I don't want to keep him waiting anymore. I think the last couple of weeks he's been rabid with rage, so I'm happy to see him less temperamental right now. What is behind you right now, Ron? What? In the office that you're in, what is the artifact that you. That you're most excited about or that means something to you? Anything?
Ron McGill
Nothing, really. Is it Cobra back there? There's my distinguished alumnus, University of Florida.
Greg Cody
Wow. Congrats.
Ron McGill
Very proud of that.
Stu Gotts
Congrats. Is that better? Where does that rank, the greatest of the honors that you have received in your career as an ambassador? Is it the Hot Dog hall of Famer, or is it a University of Florida thing?
Ron McGill
Very close to each other, but I guess I'm going to have to give UF a little bit of a nudge on that one. That was something that I carried a huge chip on my shoulder because I never graduated from the school. So for them to give me a Distinguished Alumnus Award, which I think they've only given 150 out in the history of the school, that was pretty big for me.
Mike Ryan
How about the Changemaker Award at the Blue Gala just a couple of weeks ago?
Ron McGill
Well, just having Mike Ryan be the emcee for that prestigious event just made that award that much more prestigious for me.
Stu Gotts
Ron, are you a Panthers fan? Because I haven't been able to get my Cuban friends over to this team. Tony. What?
Tony
Dan? I saw the start of the game, and then my kids started crying, and then I didn't watch.
Stu Gotts
I'm not. My Cuban friends, I cannot persuade them to watch this sport.
Ron McGill
Listen, I love the Panthers, but only in person. Watching hockey on television for me is like watching soccer on television just doesn't do anything for me. But when I watch it in person, my gosh, you know, the same thing with nascar. You go to nascar, watching it on television, it's just a bunch of cars going in a circle. You watch it in person. It is just so intense. And that's what hockey is to me. Hockey is. I would say hockey is probably my favorite sport of all to watch in person.
Mike Ryan
I'm going to Talladega this weekend, and I've been told as someone that's been close to the cars in. In Homestead and feeling the power in your chest that there is, it feels like Armageddon is circling by you every lap at Talladega, because it's a super speedway. This is going to be my first super speedway race.
Stu Gotts
What are the details are? It's the camper what, what detail are you content? Opportunity.
Mike Ryan
Yeah.
Dan LeBatard
Yeah.
Mike Ryan
No, DraftKings actually, like, this whole thing came about because DraftKings knew that I wanted to go and they made something happen very late for my friends and I. So I'm going to be out there giving some picks. I'm camping out the entire weekend at Talladega Super Speedway, Going to the Justin Moore concert, going to hang out with the Alabama football team at the Xfinity Series. I'm super excited about this because like I said, it's a super speedway, Talladega, for me. Everyone feels a certain way about the Brickyard and feels a certain way about Daytona. The Talladega race is the most unpredictable race. It's the most dangerous race. You're going to probably have several big ones there. Speedway racing is quite random. It's just pure chaos. But also the big draw for Talladega is it is the biggest party in the circuit. People will show their buttholes if you ask them to.
Stu Gotts
Okay, that's unnecessary.
Mike Ryan
Asking them might be unnecessary because they just.
Stu Gotts
I don't want to talk about. It's an odd ass.
Mike Ryan
It's about the buttholes. I'm telling you, this is a thing unneeded. I've said this on so many corporate zooms, like, what's the deal with the buttholes? And everyone's like, yes, no, it's a thing. That's not an inappropriate question to ask.
Stu Gotts
Okay, thank you. Thank you for nothing.
Greg Cody
Thank you. Roy, you got Greg.
Stu Gotts
Chris, you told me that somebody on the Boost Mobile hotline accused your father of something that I did not hear yesterday. Can you play that for me, please?
Dan LeBatard
Hey, guys. Zach from Coconut Creek.
Mike Ryan
I had jury duty with Greg Cody.
Dan LeBatard
In August last year and I caught him sitting there reading his own book.
Stu Gotts
I'll hang up and listen.
Jessica
Is that true?
Greg Cody
August of last year, jury duty, reading your own book.
Mike Ryan
It's very possible, you know, one way to avoid being caught reading your own book.
Greg Cody
To listen to my own book. Yeah.
Mike Ryan
Now you're saying something in Bill, huh?
Greg Cody
I hear it's a very good book.
Ron McGill
Hey, well, you know, I think that was just a very sly move on Greg's part to promote the book. I mean, people say, hey, that's great, Cody. What's he reading? Hey, I gotta read that. You know, that's just. That's just sly marketing on my part. Congrats, Greg. I think you did a great job.
Greg Cody
Thank you, Ron. And people who don't write for a living probably don't know this, but when I write, when I read a column I've written. Even though I wrote it and know what it says, I don't need to read it when I read that column, I try to read it as a reader is reading it. And I also read it for errors. I read it instructionally for a way I should have turned that phrase that I didn't and will might next time. So there's a value to that. When a book comes out, I read it for many of the same reasons. You know, is there any shame in reading your own book? I don't know. The caller implies.
Stu Gotts
So I would say that there's shame in what Stug did, which is never read or write his own book. I would say that there should be greater shame in that. Let me play a video here for Ron McGill again. Stugatz out with a toothache. We'll miss the draft. Can we get this octopus on the screen so that Ron McGill can tell us what's happening here? Is this an octopus? A jellyfish? What is this thing? This is what this is.
Ron McGill
That's an octopus. Actually, it looks like a type of squid, to be honest with you. That's a squid.
Stu Gotts
What is that? That is a ballet type movement. It's haunting and majestic and wonderful and weird. It's all of those things.
Ron McGill
I don't know the specifics of that, but it certainly looks like a type of squid to me. And all of these types of animal squids, octopus, they are incredible in their ability to camouflage themselves, to reshape themselves, to do things that people think would be impossible, but they make it possible. That's just one of the many wonders of nature, man. That's why I do what I do. You learn something new every day.
Stu Gotts
What. What would you say like that, though, Ron, in terms of just a beautiful video, a majestic dance? Like, if I'm saying to you something that feels spiritual in nature, you would say, what is the thing to the eye that most awes you visually?
Ron McGill
The dance of the mannequin bird. Watch. The dance of the mannequin bird. It is such an incredibly beautiful, intense dance. The way he moves and. And shuffles back and forth on the branch and does this thing with his feathers, man, it's such a piece of work. Such a work of art. It's unbelievable.
Jessica
Ron, we had a debate on the show last week. Would you rather for the rest of time be able to understand every language in existence or to be able to understand what animals are saying? I feel like I know where you'll fall on this, but what would you be able to do with that information of being able to understand animals leading.
Stu Gotts
The witness save the planet by the way.
Ron McGill
Yeah, understanding the language of animals, I think I would learn a lot more than just understanding all the languages of people because I think animals know things, are able to perceive things that we are not. And we would open a whole new channel of communication there that could open a whole new world for us. Chris, that's a no brainer.
Stu Gotts
What kind of question was that?
Tony
I objected, by the way.
Mike Ryan
I objected.
Stu Gotts
You led the way.
Jessica
I knew what I knew the answer so loaded.
Stu Gotts
I. When we were having this discussion last week and Ron's son walked through the room, I asked Sean, his son, hey, if your dad could be given one thing from Earth above all others, wouldn't it be to be able to understand what the animals are saying? He guessed yes. Is there anything that would go higher than that for you, Ron?
Ron McGill
The question would be to understand something.
Stu Gotts
What I want to understand, to be able to be fluent with the animals, to understand their language. There's nothing that you would prize more than to be given that by Earth. You'd be able to save the planet with that, wouldn't you?
Ron McGill
I think I would, yeah. I think I would.
Greg Cody
Wow.
Stu Gotts
What?
Greg Cody
I would rather my dog understand what I'm saying than have him understand what, you know, I mean, jumping Charlie, you know, don't do that, you know, don't pee, you know, pee outside.
Ron McGill
I think, I think he understands that, Greg. He just does it anyway.
Greg Cody
That's true. You're very right.
Chris
I do wish I could tell my dog, like I'll be back in 20 minutes or like I'll be back in a couple hours. Like, don't freak out. This is gonna be a longer trip, this is gonna be a shorter trip. I wish I could explain that part.
Ron McGill
Yes, but you know, you can explain that, Jessica, but the reality is nobody's promised tomorrow and he just worries about you just like somebody else would worry, you know, taking your trip somewhere. God knows what could happen.
Mike Ryan
Did you just call?
Ron McGill
So, I mean, that's just something, you know, animals have very strong bonds, so they know that anything can change at any minute.
Greg Cody
Ron, I want to read you a headline and you tell me how this is possible. Galapagos tortoises at Philadelphia Zoo become first time parents at nearly 100 years of age.
Ron McGill
That's possible because these animals can live. Sometimes there's a belief that they can live in excess of 200 years of age. So, you know, if they didn't have the opportunity to connect earlier, well, you know, better late than never. It doesn't mean that they're infertile. People look at 100 years of age and say, oh my God, a human being wouldn't be able to, you know, have a baby at 100 years of age. Well, a human being doesn't live to be 225 years either. So that's like saying, you know, a human had a baby at 50, which is not impossible. It's not, you know, it's not favored. Favored, but it certainly is not impossible.
Greg Cody
Okay, all right, so tortoises are still randy at that age.
Ron McGill
Oh, tortoises. I've seen tortoises randy, like. Yeah, until they take their last breath. At least the males.
Stu Gotts
You haven't seen it till the last.
Chris
So they're like humans. Okay.
Stu Gotts
You haven't seen till the last breath. You haven't seen a turtle having sex die.
Mike Ryan
Can you imagine?
Ron McGill
Oh, geez, Dan, you want to get into technicalities now? I mean, I've seen, let's say I've seen a turtle having sex and then die the next day at over 100 years old.
Chris
Ron, I read a story about giant squids a while ago. Well, I listened to a story about giant squids from David Grant, and it was about how if you were able to find a live giant squid specimen, it would be one of the greatest scientific discoveries because we've only ever seen dead giant squids in terms of like, things that haven't been discovered yet that we know are out there, like animal species. Is. Is there anything more than the giant squid that would be. That would trump that as a scientific discovery?
Ron McGill
Well, giant squid has been found. If you Google, you'll find video that they have got video of a giant squid in the very deep. It's, it's a fleeting video, but it is a verified, you know, true video of giant squid. So we have been able to see them. We haven't been able to because they occur at such depths that when they finally get to the surface, they, they are not able to survive. They need that pressure, I think, of the ocean at those great depths to survive. So we do see them sometimes when they wash up in the beach dead. But they have been filmed underneath, alive. As far as the missing animal, gosh, I don't know. You know, there's so much talk now about the ivory billed woodpecker, an animal that was deemed extinct many, many years ago, that there have been some sightings in the swamps of Louisiana. And there, I know there's people that are dedicating their lives to trying to find that animal. So, you know, there's also some talk about the Tasmanian wolf, you know, in Australia, New guinea, that they. They've seen that. So I don't. There it is. See, I told you. That's. That's the giant squid. They actually got some video.
Chris
They're like 60ft long, right?
Ron McGill
Yes, they' they're actually one of the favorite foods of the sperm whale, which is, of course, a huge whale, but that whale dives like a mile deep to get it. It's unbelievable.
Stu Gotts
Ron, how smart is that creature? Do we have any idea. Do we have any information on what that creature living knows or can do?
Ron McGill
I don't think so. I don't think so. I think a lot of people speculate that they are very intelligent because they are in. I think it's the cephalopod family, which is the octopus and squids, which tend to be pretty intelligent in their ability to maneuver and adapt to their. The giant squid is, of course, this enormous animal. I mean, like I said, the sperm whale feeds on it. If you look at shots of sperm whales sometimes you'll see these circular scars on their face, which are the suction pucks of the squid trying to save themselves while the sperm whale is trying to eat them. And they leave scars with these huge suction pucks on their face. It's fantastic stuff.
Stu Gotts
That is a great dismount. Good seeing you, Ron. Thank you, sir. Always nice seeing you. A reminder to the audience you are Zoo Miami's greatest donor. His substantive endowment, you are responsible for more in the way of donations than any other group of people. So Ron McGill's endowment is something that gets help straight to the animals. We will talk to you again next week, Ron. And let's do against the spread.
Jessica
That's right. It's time for a gangster spread. And it's brought to you by our friends at DraftKings. DraftKings. The crown is yours. Roy, kick us off.
Dan LeBatard
Game two, Canadiens at Capitals. The Capitals lead in the series. One nothing. The Montreal Canadiens have covered the puck line in the last six games against Eastern Conference opponents after coming off overtime. And they will again. They are one and a half goal underdogs tonight. Go with them against. Against Russia.
Tony
Tony, I like how Roy gives analytical advice. And I give you vibes advice. Right? So, Houston Rockets, Game 2 in Houston. They can't shoot as bad as they did last game.
Stu Gotts
They can't.
Tony
Dan, they can't shoot as bad as they did last game. Okay. Jalen Green's not gonna play that bad. Fred Van Vliet's not gonna play that bad. The Rockets, they're gonna come out with their hair on fire.
Stu Gotts
All right, well, that seems that it'd be hard to play that way.
Tony
It's gonna be hard to play, but they are gonna play that way. Only minus three at home.
Dan LeBatard
Okay.
Tony
Against an older in the tooth, longer in the tooth. Can you say older in the tooth.
Dan LeBatard
Or how does that work?
Jessica
I knew what you meant.
Tony
Long, long in the tooth. They have old teeth, too. But the Golden State warriors, are they gonna be able to compete with the Rockets with the pace that they want to come out with? I don't think so. I'm gonna take Houston -3 against the spread.
Stu Gotts
That old timey music, old in the tooth music. This is just not the way to get tomorrow's demo.
Dan LeBatard
Folks.
Jessica

Don LeBatard.
Greg Cody
This guy comes in as the next Wayne Gretzky. His nicknames include the chosen1 and McJesus. Okay, he's a great player. He scores a lot of goals. He scores a ton of assists. But it hasn't translated to making Edmonton a powerhouse in the league.
Jessica
They're in the final st. What's your nickname for him?
Greg Cody
Look overrated.
Dan LeBatard
This is the Dan Levatar show with the Stugats.
Stu Gotts
I will always introduce this man the same way. You might know him 15 NBA seasons. You might know him three time NBA champion, Spurs, Raptors, Lakers. You may think three pointers.
Dan LeBatard
Nope.
Stu Gotts
Best defender in the open floor of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade that there has ever been. No one has ever been better at stopping The Dwyane Wade. LeBron James two on one fast break than a very confusing Danny Green. He has no accomplishment in his career better than that. Danny, good to see you. He's also the host of Inside the Green Room with Danny Green. But thank you for joining us and forgive me for always doing that to you, but it's.
Dan LeBatard
No, it's the best thing you did.
Stu Gotts
You did nothing better than that. You were less good at three pointers than you were at that.
Dan LeBatard
I 100% agree, man. I appreciate you always having me on the show. So true honor. But yes, that's a hell of an introduction and one the one that I take the most pride in. So I'm glad that I'm known for my defense and specifically that, you know, I was a pretty decent shot blocker, but I was good at guessing and making the guessing. The guessing game. I guess on the two on one and fast break. So thank you for reminding people that.
Stu Gotts
Yes. Were you offended last night watching Lakers and timberwolves and seeing two teams shoot 20% from three?
Dan LeBatard
I was not. I mean, it was an ugly game. I mean, Lakers came out hot and I think it ended up. I think their numbers ended up dropping toward the end of the game. But you know, today's. It's weird, I'd say today's NBA, but this year's playoffs has been kind of ugly with low scoring. Right. Even Golden State Houston series was low scoring. Even the Knicks Detroit series has. Except for the game one. Who else the other day was. Was not high? Clippers, Denver. 105, 102. So we haven't seen an abundance of scoring, but 95, 84, that's pretty ugly for the playoffs. So I mean, I said I don't mind the not shooting great from three, but we still want to see some, you know, some good action, some good basketball, some scoring from the mid range. And we, we've seen that from Kawhi, we see that from, you know, KD and other guys that do mid range. But yes, definitely want to see some more scoring in these games.
Stu Gotts
If you had to bet and be right, Kawhi will be standing at the end of these playoffs healthy.
Dan LeBatard
If I had to bet and be right. Yes, that's. Yes, that. I mean, that's something that I definitely hope for, man. I'm happy for him. Happy to see that he's playing and he's good. It's been a while since we've seen him healthy in the postseason. We're trying to remember the last time that we've seen it. I remember the bubble, and then after that, I'm trying to remember if he got through the postseason healthy. So that was five years ago. You know, if it's your money, it's.
Stu Gotts
It's hard. It's hard to make that a probability. It's hard to bet on that. Is it not? Because I'd like to.
Dan LeBatard
It is, but I'd put my money on it. He looks good right now. You know, in the past, I would be like. Cause, you know, he also took some games off this season. Like, his body, I think has gotten the proper rest where they monitored because the other times that he gets hurt in the postseason, he played the full season or he played a good amount of the season. I think he took right amount of games off this season to be able to be fresh enough for the postseason. So I would put my money on it, Danny.
Stu Gotts
I've been trying to get this take off the ground, and I cannot do it. Nobody will co sign it with me. Nobody will allow it. I want to argue that Jokic is the best offensive player in the history of basketball.
Greg Cody
Ooh.
Dan LeBatard
I could put him in the top. In the top five, maybe.
Greg Cody
No co sign of that. No cosign.
Dan LeBatard
I don't think. I don't think I can co sign fully. I can put him in top five because to me, and maybe I'm biased. I have to guard the big men, right? And I mean, we've seen Russ do triple double thing, but scoring, scoring alone, like in my time, obviously I've seen. I never chance to play Michael Jordan, but he's number one at scoring. And then for me, behind him was. Was Kevin Durant and James Harden just at scoring because those guys could unbelievably score. And he can, too. But he does more than just score.
Stu Gotts
But yes, hence the best offensive player. I'm doing all of it. Efficiencies, all of it. I'm doing all of it. It's not just scorer the best. I mean, Shaquille O'Neal.
Dan LeBatard
I'll put him at the best big.
Stu Gotts
Well, but that's not what I want.
Greg Cody
That's your lane. No traffic in that lane.
Stu Gotts
I don't want him as the best big. And when you're talking about guarding him, you might be able to stop whatever it is Michael Jordan and LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are doing in the open court on A two and three on one. Yokich, you're getting stuck in his belly button.
Dan LeBatard
Yeah, I don't know if I'm stopping Michael Jordan though. That's a, that's, that's a tough one. Even Kevin Durant. But yes, he probably is the top best offensive skilled or scoring or offensive player. Big wise center's position.
Stu Gotts
Too many words. It's too many words. You're not co signing what I'm asking you to co sign. So we'll just go back.
Dan LeBatard
This is too tough. There's too many skilled offensive players that have come through our league. And it said to me to put.
Stu Gotts
Somebody unlike this one. Danny, none like this.
Dan LeBatard
Michael, Jeffrey, Jeff, none like this one.
Stu Gotts
There have none. There have been exactly zero who look like this one. And as an added bonus. Oh yeah, everyone passed on him. He didn't go in the first round.
Dan LeBatard
I would, I would agree and attest to that. That's a good, I mean, but Michael Jordan, man, there's a reason why. And some of these guys, I said he's got one ring. So some of these guys that you're talking about, he's passing up have like five, six rings and they might have had better teams.
Stu Gotts
Just talking about the offensive skills. I'm not talking about the championships.
Greg Cody
Danny's trying to find a polite way to say you're wrong.
Stu Gotts
I know.
Greg Cody
Don't you get that?
Dan LeBatard
Steph Curry is. Steph Curry is very skill set too. Like, like he does a lot of things like those guys. Yeah.
Mike Ryan
Imagine he's like his toes to the.
Dan LeBatard
Top of his head.
Mike Ryan
There is seven feet.
Dan LeBatard
So this year Jokic has sat 40 plus from three. But I don't know if he'll consistently do that, you know, so could Jordan. No, Jordan couldn't. But Steph is in. That said, there's so many talented players that have come through our lane. Seven offensively.
Mike Ryan
Okay.
Dan LeBatard
But yeah, seven footer, you know that that's a, that's not a bad take. It's a strong one. I, I'm more in agreeance than I am disagreeing. But it's hard for me to fully commit to that until I do some more research.
Stu Gotts
He's second in the NBA and it says, danny, I need to change your mind. I need to.
Mike Ryan
Can we change your mind?
Stu Gotts
I need to badger you until you change your mind.
Dan LeBatard
You guys are pushing me. You guys are pushing me there.
Stu Gotts
Yes.
Mike Ryan
Yeah, you are pushing sports debate. People just stick to their take and don't say, you know what, but you've convinced me.
Stu Gotts
I just, I Agree.
Mike Ryan
I. I may venture to say this is that time.
Dan LeBatard
As time goes on, I'm getting more and more convinced because, yeah, we haven't seen anything like it. We haven't seen anything like it.
Chris
Danny, shop for your life. Jokic or Jordan.
Dan LeBatard
I'm going Mike.
Greg Cody
End of.
Dan LeBatard
No disrespect to. Yeah, no disrespect to Yoko. So they're both very good players, but I'm going with Mike. And even Luca is a guy that we might be able to put in that conversation.
Stu Gotts
I want to talk about. I want to talk about Luca. Stan says he's the best offensive player ever. Stan Van Gundy says that Luke is the best offensive player ever. But I want to get your take on Missoula the other day. Tatum's doubtful, and Missoula the other day just said, get up because he was writhing around on the floor, but he's actually doubtful, so he was hurt. How's that one going over with your star player? That Missoula is a little bit of a crazy person.
Dan LeBatard
I mean, it depends on how Jason. I feel like he's a kid that can receive constructive criticism. Well, and was his. His pops or his parents from the old school times. That's just how it was. You know what I'm saying? You break a finger, you got nine others. Get your ass up, get back in the game and play. So, I mean, I loved it. I, I, you know, and to me, I don't. I don't know exactly what he's hurt. It was. It was a wrist, right, or something like that, or.
Stu Gotts
I don't think get up is constructive criticism. Tony's back there. Tony's. Tony played through a. Through a record last night. Got a sprained thumb, and he kept playing through it. Fifteen points in the second half.
Tony
Let me explain it to Danny. So, Danny, I was. I was on the block, and I was waiting for a pick and popped guy, okay? Guy goes to pick.
Stu Gotts
He.
Tony
His. My thumb gets caught in his shirt, yanks it back, right? I had already had 20 at that point.
Dan LeBatard
Had to come. He was hot.
Tony
Come on.
Dan LeBatard
I was hot.
Tony
I had already hit, like, four or five threes. I came out of the game, had to tape myself up real quick. But guess what? Second half started. I came back in, had another five. Get up.
Dan LeBatard
I'm with you on that list.
Mike Ryan
Got that dog inside him.
Dan LeBatard
There's not many injuries that should keep you on the floor for that. Like, unless you tore an ankle, a knee, you know, Said I. I don't know what is in. I don't I didn't see the injury, but I thought it was his wrist. Right, If I'm not mistaken.
Mike Ryan
Yeah.
Dan LeBatard
Yeah. So his legs are like. Your legs are fine. And I'm not saying that. I'm not trying to, like, downplay his injury, but Joe was like, look, man, you're not shot, you're not dead. Get up. You know, we can look at this wrist on the sideline. We can look at it over here. And I think that's just part of him being raised from the old school and trying to let the new generation, new school generation, like, you guys are soft as hell. Get the hell out. Like, you don't need to be laying on the floor that way. And I get some guys like to sell the call. Like to sell this. Make them look at it. Make them see. Because sometimes you won't get them to review a call unless you sell it. But I mean, if. When I'm. If I'm coaching any of my kids, I'm telling them, get the hell up. But, you know, that might not go over well with superstars and NBA.
Stu Gotts
Well, it's not constructive. Get up is not constructive criticism under any.
Dan LeBatard
I won't put it in that. I won't put it in that category. I would say that he's a kid that can take criticism and he can take. I'm not saying this is constructive criticism, but I think he can take that type of tough love and treatment and is okay with it.
Stu Gotts
I want you.
Dan LeBatard
Maybe I'm wrong. I could be wrong.
Stu Gotts
No, I think that you have some expertise here that you can help us understand Kawhi Leonard a little bit better than most, having been a champion with him by the time he gets to you in Toronto after whatever the betrayals were of the spurs medical staff, that Kawhi Leonard, when you talk about playing through injuries, we were marveling at this yesterday. Was incapable of jumping. He won a championship playing only old man game. Could you notice? What story can you tell us from that that would give us the insides of. You have no earthly idea how hard it was for him to win the championship when he couldn't jump in an NBA Finals game.
Dan LeBatard
That. That's interesting. It is tough. I said, I've seen Timmy play on one leg. And to go back to Joe Missoula, Pop has said. Said way worse things to me in the past. Besides, get up is not that bad or that harsh. But Kawhi, to me, I said, he was unbelievable during that run. And I know he was limping. I know he had one leg. But to say he couldn't jump, I think is a stretch because he definitely did dunk the ball. He dunked the shit out of Giannis one time. It was serious, where he was limping, but he still was getting to the rim, still dunked the ball. But yes, I know he was hurt. He was on one leg. And to do that with that type of injury just showed how tough of a kid he is. And, you know, people will give him a lot of slack because of his injuries in the past, and it's a lot of negativity. But he's fought through some injuries in the past and I think it makes him look bad because they don't release the injury or the severity of the injury till after these series are over. Like the past couple of playoffs we've seen, he's like, oh, he's injured, he might come back. And then after the series over, it's like, oh, he tore his acl. So you guys should announce that. Obviously they want the other team to know because they want them to fear them, but you're making the player look bad by not announcing that when it happens. But he's a kid that could fight through, you know, injuries. He can fight through, you know, pain. And he's shown it and proven it before. So I never doubt. I never doubt him.
Stu Gotts
Two part question on Pacers and Bucks. Why do the NBA peers think that Tyrese Halliburton is overrated and is Giannis out of there if Milwaukee loses in the first round?
Dan LeBatard
I don't think he's overrated. I just think that. Well, I guess if you look at the totality of it, they put him in a category because he had an unbelievable stretch last season, the first quarter, first, third of the season, where I wouldn't say his out of body experience or above himself, but he played an unbelievable efficient rate. And he was getting 20 assists game, getting 30 balls, shooting 40 plus from three. And as we've seen, that's not his norm or like, you know, 40 plus from three, like he can score.
Stu Gotts
He became an all star the first half of last season because he was making three pointers from the half court line because he went through an up like he introduced himself to an Olympic.
Dan LeBatard
Team like some people, like he should because you got guys like. And I was doing TV with John Wall the other day and some of these things he's never gotten invited to. And John was an unbelievable point guard and if he matched up with him in his prime, I know it would be a great hell of a matchup. And he'd probably give him some fits. But I think Tyrese is a very good player. I just think the standard that they're holding him to an expectation, what they believe he is is a lot higher than what he's consistently shown and what he really is. So I don't think he's overrated. I think he's very good. But, you know, some other point guard, some other people don't. Don't think he deserved to be Olympic, golden, Olympic team over like Kyrie and certain people. So I get that. But as John is out of there, I think there's some consideration. If they lose in the first round, they're down.02 right now to Indiana, and if they lose, probably 4:1, which looks like it's going to be going in my mind, I think there's going to be, you know, him considering going other places in the organization, having to sit down, talk with him and seeing where his mindset is. But I could see Giannis also being a guy like. Like being loyal and saying, I started my career here. I want to finish here. I got my ring. Maybe. Maybe. So we don't know. We'll see what his brother said. A lot has to do with his brother. What is if they bring his brother back or. But yeah, I think there's going to be some. Some consideration of him and the organization of trading him this off season if they lose 4:1 in the series.
Jessica
This episode is presented by DraftKings. DraftKings. The crown is yours.
Mike Ryan
Danny, I got three questions for you. Rapid. If you listen to an audiobook to completion.
Dan LeBatard
Yes.
Mike Ryan
Can you then claim I read that book?
Dan LeBatard
No. Yeah.
Mike Ryan
Sam Van Gundy disagrees, but we move on.
Greg Cody
Thank you, Danny.
Mike Ryan
Who's more handsome? Andrew Harper.
Dan LeBatard
I think you actually have to read this. You have to read it.
Mike Ryan
Go ahead, read the shit. Okay. Well, I heard this shit, and I got the same amount of information.
Dan LeBatard
Well, I'm not gonna read it. I wouldn't say you didn't read it, but I listened to that book. The correct terms. I listened to that book.
Mike Ryan
This has been a great segment for changing people's minds. Danny G. Who's more handsome, Andrew Hawkins or Method Man? We're taking an internal tally here.
Dan LeBatard
Is Andrew Hawkins the receiver.
Mike Ryan
Yeah.
Stu Gotts
Otherwise known as Walter.
Mike Ryan
Well, see, like, you know Andrew Hawkins and you don't do a show with him. Like Greg Cody. Like Greg Cody is a part of our ensemble cast. Had no idea who Andrew Hawkins.
Greg Cody
Never been to the same studio with him.
Dan LeBatard
I'm going to go with Method man just because I mean, for what I've seen as an older guy, he's kind of taken care of himself, and he's been in a. That is true.
Mike Ryan
100%. And last question. Mark Jackson once famously said, the great ones tell their body not today. Was there ever a time where Danny Green had to tell his body not today. To overcome with a great performance on the court?
Dan LeBatard
No. My younger days, I wasn't that smart. I had to have. And I think most athletes had to have coaches tell you, not today. As you said, I grew up. The different. The coachings, the parenting was very different. I played football, so it was like, if I'm sick, I'm gonna try to go. It doesn't matter if I'm hurt, whatever it is, if it's not stop me from running, I'm gonna try to go.
Stu Gotts
So you are saying not today.
Mike Ryan
So what's the greatest single example of you telling your body not to.
Stu Gotts
Your body's screaming. It's telling you you're not playing.
Dan LeBatard
That's what you're saying.
Stu Gotts
And you're telling your body, not today.
Mike Ryan
Body, because you're one of the great ones.
Dan LeBatard
So then. Yes, that was every day. That was. Yeah, every day.
Mike Ryan
You were telling buddy, not today.
Stu Gotts
Every day.
Dan LeBatard
No, not every day. I'm being. But there was a lot of moments. Yes, there's a lot of moments where it was not today. I was sick, I was hurt, and I don't think it was any in the finals. There was none in the play, like, not many in the playoffs. But there was some times where I was sick, but said the coaching staff would have me sit down or if I was really sick, but I can't remember. There was one in particular moment where I had, like a flu game or anything like that.
Stu Gotts
How about this? Did you ever come out one day and say to yourself this because you were trying to summon the greatest of strengths within you?
Greg Cody
I got a dog in me.
Dan LeBatard
I mean, so there was. There was some moments, whereas I didn't feel. I'm trying to remember if there's any playoff games where I didn't feel great.
Stu Gotts
But it didn't have to be. It felt it actually would be. You felt too great. Right. Like it's not just your body, but you feel.
Mike Ryan
Yeah. I was assuming turned ankle. It seems as though you got a bad immune system.
Dan LeBatard
No, I wasn't always sick. I wasn't always sick. There was definitely times where I had a groin injury or I had a astitis pubis, and I kind of played through it most of that Sounds terrible.
Stu Gotts
What is that? That sounds terrible. What is that? Pubis.
Dan LeBatard
It's like a groin injury. Pubisitis. Pubis. Pubis. I think that's the correct term. It's a groin injury.
Stu Gotts
Sounds. Greg, definitely it sounds painful.
Mike Ryan
In America.
Dan LeBatard
It wasn't. Yeah, it wasn't. It was painful. And I said I didn't know how bad it was till the end of the season, but I had a status pupis most of that toward the end of that year, and I've had to play through that. So that was tough.
Stu Gotts
Danny, you don't believe in the Rockets, right?
Dan LeBatard
I believe they're good, but I had Golden State in seven in the series. I just think Golden State. Just because I have Golden State doesn't mean I don't believe in the Rockets. I just think Golden State.
Stu Gotts
That's exactly what it means. That's exactly.
Dan LeBatard
It means I believe in Golden State. You guys are stirring some stuff up, man.
Stu Gotts
Danny, though, this is the thing, right? You either believe the Rockets are going to get out of the first round or they're not. And I don't believe anybody thinks the Rockets are going to get out of the first round.
Dan LeBatard
I believe they're a good team, and I think if they had a different matchup, I would think they would win the series. But this matchup, I believe in Golden State more because they're just more experienced. To me, that doesn't. That doesn't take away the fact that Houston is a good enough team that I believe is like, could. If the penal matchup could make noise in the playoffs, if they played Lakers, if they played, you know, Memphis. There are other teams matched up that they. I think they could. They could, you know, beat Timberwolves.
Stu Gotts
Lakers, who you got?
Dan LeBatard
I had Lakers in six.
Stu Gotts
So game one didn't shake you?
Dan LeBatard
Nah, I mean, I mean, I usually stick my prediction. I just think Lakers today had a really bad night. Timberwolves had a really great night. They shot. They shot the hell out of the ball. Jaden McDaniels, 25 points on 11 from 13. Like, I don't think that official. Like, he may score 20, but not that efficiently. They. They hit like a franchise record of threes. Like, I don't know if they can. They shoot decent. They shoot decent, but I don't shoot. I don't think they'll do that again. Four, like three or four more times in the playoffs. So I think the Lakers as a safe bet with Luka and Braun.
Greg Cody
Danny, I assume you have Cleveland in four or five games. What on earth can The Heat do to make this a long series?
Stu Gotts
Game one, incidentally. Game one, incidentally. I saw these stats. Cleveland had its best offensive game of the season and Miami had its worst defensive game of the season. That's not great.
Dan LeBatard
It's not. But that you got to give credit to the teams given making it like that way. You know, they had a worse defensive because Cleveland played really good offense. Ty Jerome played well. I think it'll go five, maybe six at most. But what can. Miami stuck around. They look. They looked like they belonged. It wasn't like one of those lopsided OKC Memphis that. That series looks a little more lopsided. But Miami just plays their game. You know, I think they have a chance. They need more Khalil Ware. They need a little more branch production. They need to probably start Davion Mitchell because he played well.
Mike Ryan
I like that guy.
Dan LeBatard
Yeah, I think. I think they found some things just hopefully take away Cleveland's. You know, you gotta take away. You gotta take away Cleveland's bench a little bit and take away three ball from them a little bit, which said they won't shoot it as well.
Stu Gotts
That's hard to do.
Mike Ryan
Danny, do you like movies?
Dan LeBatard
I love movies. Love movies.
Mike Ryan
So we're 30 days away from the final reckoning, and I think Mission Impossible, for my money, is the greatest action film franchise of all time. It just keeps getting better.
Dan LeBatard
Outside of all the Marvel movies, too.
Mike Ryan
Yeah. Oh, the Marvel movies. You can't say that. You can't say that about the Marvel movies, that they keep getting better. You can absolutely say that. At least in terms of like a timeline. Keep in mind, this franchise has been around for like 30 years now.
Dan LeBatard
Yeah, it's like Fast and the Furious at this point.
Mike Ryan
But I mean, only better is better. Fast and Furious doesn't have 30 years and it certainly doesn't have. It doesn't have. They're not. How many times has Tyreese been disavowed by the government? I mean, seriously, come on. I guess you know where I stand. But in your opinion, and please let it not be Fast and Furious, what is the greatest action film franchise of all time?
Dan LeBatard
To me, I would go with the Marvel movie or like the Batman series. Like the Dark Knight. The Batman.
Mike Ryan
The Nolan trilogy.
Dan LeBatard
Yes, Nolan trilogy, Avengers. The Avengers. Unbelievable. Those are like the Batman.
Mike Ryan
Did you like the Batman, the one with Robert Pattinson as Bruce?
Dan LeBatard
It was good. I liked it. I liked it. But it wasn't as good as the Crusade.
Mike Ryan
It's taking too long to get the sequel out there. He's got to be 41 years old.
Dan LeBatard
Yeah. The Christian Bale said we have to wait till they finish, but the Christian Bale one is top tier. I will say this. I'd seen Sinners and I've never haven't felt about a movie like that. Like, where I thought about a movie after, because it was a lot when I first saw the Hype, I'm like, ah, people probably hyping it. And I'm all for, you know, pushing in black, you know, culture and everything like that. It's great. And I was like, I'm going to see the movie. I'm still going to promote it regardless. But it was. It lived up to the hype. And I'm still watching this and finding out new stuff about the movie. Obviously, we're talking about series, but this was an unbelievable movie, Danny. I'm excited to see it again.
Stu Gotts
I've been floored by how I didn't think that things could be made that would just get Universal applause In 2025, where people are talking about something, they're saying how good it is, and then people go see it and they say it's better than that. Like. Like the. The last thing that felt like that to me was like, Hamilton a million years ago. And then people turned on Hamilton too.
Dan LeBatard
Because people usually ruin it. Right? People overhype it. But this. This lived up to the hype, man. Just to. I'm learning still, even after the movie, how much, like, about the cast and crew. Very talented actors. Unbelievable. And people say it's really not a horror. It has some jumpy scenes, but it's. It's like a horror mixed with musical. It's like. And I'm not a fan of musicals at all, but the soundtrack and I think the villains need to get more credit. The villains were unbelievable. I don't see enough of them on Instagram. Obviously, everybody talks about Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld. They're unbelievable, too. But the other actors, the old school actors, it came full circle. It's a movie that I really am interested in seeing again and seeing what I could pick up the second time around, but it was. And to me, it was. Michael B. Jordan is one of his best acting movies I've seen, but it was unreal, man. It had a great feeling, great experience in the theater, and I didn't even see it in imax. I want to see it in IMAX to see how different it'll be.
Stu Gotts
Inside the Green Room with Danny Green. And we have a victory here. On behalf of America you guys all heard it here. Danny Green has conceded that he was wrong. He's had his mind changed. He can be open minded. Jokic is better than.
Dan LeBatard
Yes. I was actually going to come back to that.
Stu Gotts
Yes.
Dan LeBatard
I was going to come back to that. I think you guys convinced me. Jokic is probably the best offensive player in the history of the game.
Stu Gotts
Thank you.
Dan LeBatard
Until Luka surpasses him.
Stu Gotts
That's right.
Dan LeBatard
Luca has to get an mvp.
Stu Gotts
That's right. All of that. Yes.
Dan LeBatard
To get MVP And a chance. Championship. Lucas. MVP and championship. Then we'll. We'll have this discussion again.
Stu Gotts
A victory. Yes, a victory. Thank you, Danny. Good seeing you.
Dan LeBatard
Gotta win. Same. Appreciate you guys. Man, this is always fun. I gotta do it again soon.
Greg Cody
I got a dog in me.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz – Episode Summary
Episode: Hour 2: Shot For Your Life: Jordan or Jokic?
Release Date: April 23, 2025
Hosts: Dan Le Batard, Stu Gotts
Guests: Ron McGill, Greg Cody, Danny Green, and other panelists
The episode kicks off with Stu Gotts welcoming Ron McGill, highlighting Ron’s recent accolades. Ron proudly shares his receipt of a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Florida, expressing gratitude and a touch of humor about not having graduated from the institution.
Ron McGill [03:05]: "That was something that I carried a huge chip on my shoulder because I never graduated from the school. So for them to give me a Distinguished Alumnus Award... that was pretty big for me."
He also mentions receiving the Changemaker Award at the Blue Gala, with Mike Ryan serving as the emcee, adding prestige to the honor.
Stu Gotts inquires about Ron McGill’s fandom, particularly regarding the NHL’s Panthers. Ron emphasizes his preference for experiencing sports live over watching them on television, comparing hockey and NASCAR to immersive, high-energy events.
Ron McGill [03:43]: "Watching hockey on television for me is like watching soccer on television; it just doesn't do anything for me. But when I watch it in person, my gosh, it's just so intense."
Mike Ryan shares his excitement about attending the Talladega Super Speedway race, describing the venue as "pure chaos" and the "most unpredictable race."
Mike Ryan [04:35]: "The Talladega race is the most unpredictable race. It's the most dangerous race. You're going to probably have several big ones there."
He humorously navigates a discussion about the atmosphere at the speedway, touching on inappropriate humor that Stu gently rebukes.
The conversation shifts to the NBA playoffs, focusing on teams like the Montreal Canadiens, Houston Rockets, and Golden State Warriors. Panelists analyze team performances, player injuries, and the strategic implications for upcoming games.
Ron McGill delves into fascinating aspects of animal behavior and biology. He discusses the intelligence of cephalopods like octopuses and giant squids, mentioning their incredible camouflage abilities and complex behaviors.
Ron McGill [08:06]: "These types of animal squids, octopuses, they are incredible in their ability to camouflage themselves, to reshape themselves... That's just one of the many wonders of nature."
He also touches on recent scientific occurrences, such as Galapagos tortoises at advanced ages becoming parents, challenging common perceptions about animal lifespans and reproductive capabilities.
Ron McGill [11:09]: "Galapagos tortoises at Philadelphia Zoo become first-time parents at nearly 100 years of age... People look at 100 years of age and say, 'Oh my God, a human being wouldn't be able to have a baby at 100 years of age.' Well, a human being doesn't live to be 225 years either."
Greg Cody shares a humorous incident where he read his own book while on jury duty, blending self-promotion with comedy. This segment highlights the seamless integration of personal stories into the show’s dynamic.
Greg Cody [06:21]: "It's very possible, you know, one way to avoid being caught reading your own book."
Ron McGill commends Greg’s sly marketing tactic, emphasizing the value of reading one’s own work critically.
The heart of the episode centers around a heated debate on who stands as the best offensive player in basketball history—Michael Jordan or Nikola Jokic.
Stu Gotts passionately argues that Jokic is unparalleled in his offensive prowess, citing his efficiency and versatility.
Stu Gotts [24:08]: "I want to argue that Jokic is the best offensive player in the history of basketball."
Dan Le Batard offers a more measured perspective, placing Jokic within a top-tier category but acknowledging Jordan’s unmatched scoring ability.
Dan Le Batard [24:25]: "I could put him in the top five, maybe... he can score, but he does more than just score."
Throughout the debate, Stu persistently challenges Dan’s stance, pushing for Jokic’s supremacy. Danny Green joins the discussion, adding his insights on player resilience and performance under pressure.
Eventually, Dan concedes, influenced by the compelling arguments presented by Stu and his teammates, recognizing Jokic’s exceptional offensive capabilities.
Dan Le Batard [44:55]: "I think you guys convinced me. Jokic is probably the best offensive player in the history of the game."
Stu celebrates the victory, emphasizing the dynamic and persuasive nature of the debate.
The panel transitions to discussing the greatest action film franchises, weighing options like Mission Impossible, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and the Batman series.
Mike Ryan champions the Mission Impossible franchise for its longevity and consistent improvement.
Mike Ryan [41:52]: "Mission Impossible, for my money, is the greatest action film franchise of all time. It just keeps getting better."
Dan Le Batard counters by highlighting the MCU and Nolan’s Batman trilogy, appreciating their cultural impact and artistic excellence.
Dan LeBatard [42:27]: "To me, I would go with the Marvel movie or like the Batman series. Like the Dark Knight."
The debate underscores the diverse preferences within the panel, reflecting on the evolution and enduring popularity of these franchises.
The episode culminates with an engaging appearance by Danny Green, host of Inside the Green Room with Danny Green. Danny participates in the ongoing debates, offering his perspectives on NBA player performances and injury resilience.
A memorable moment occurs when Danny acknowledges changing his stance on the Jordan vs. Jokic debate, aligning with Stu's earlier assertions.
Dan LeBatard [44:55]: "I think you guys convinced me. Jokic is probably the best offensive player in the history of the game."
The hosts express mutual appreciation for Danny’s openness and contributions, wrapping up the episode on a high note.
Throughout the episode, standard commercial breaks for Peloton, Priceline, DraftKings, Jimmy John’s, Monarch Money, and Miller Lite are aired. These segments were consciously excluded from the summary to maintain focus on the show's core content.
