So if you've listened to the local hour, the Big SUEY and hour one, you have now heard two complete interviews on the Dan LeBatard show with Stu Gotz with the then reality TV show star and real estate mogul Donald Trump. Now we are moving on to an interview from May 27, 2015, which means this was just 20 days before Donald Trump would announce his first run for the presidency of the United States. MSNBC's Pablo Torre was sitting in with Dan and Stugatz that day, which makes this all the funnier as Dan and Stu grill Donald Trump about Deflategate because of his friendship with Tom Brady and terrific person Bob Kraft and Bill Belichick, why Tom Brady should have sued the NFL. He also detailed being billions of dollars in debt, which surely wouldn't be an issue for a guy running for president, right? Who was he in debt to? Surely it couldn't be the folks in Moscow that he was talking about in the local hour, right? That tie doesn't matter. But no joke, we're 20 days from that declaration that he'd run for president and Stugatz asked him if he would. And this is the first time maybe anyone would hear the phrase I will make this country great again. It is so wild to listen to what Trump has to say in this interview about China and more specifically Mexico and America's relationship with Mexico, considering where we are now 10 years later with mass deportation and the jailing of immigrants in a place called Alligator Alcatraz in the middle of the Everglades, where the response is, yeah, you know, if migrants escape and they get eaten by wildlife, isn't that kind of the point? And there's so much in here that will really blow your mind considering where things went. What, What a weird 4th of July this is, huh? Anyway, here's, here's the final interview on the Dan LeBatard show with Stu Gotz with President Donald Trump 20 days before he would announce his first run for the presidency. And Chris Cody, I have to thank you once again for putting me in this position to not only have to listen to all of these interviews and swallow the reality of what they were, but to guide our audience through it. Thank you so much, Chris. This has just been the time of my life. Exactly how I wanted to spend my fourth of July. Alright, folks, here's the final interview and hopefully I'll never have to listen to any of this again. Hey friends, the summer's here. That means more sun, it means more light, it means more time to do all the things that make summer so special all around the country. Tony here and I wanted to talk about something super important and that's how I keep my home protected. Obviously. You guys know I have a little one back at home. My wife is there with her. And I get tremendous peace of mind knowing that, that the moment I leave for work, that my home, my property, my family is protected not just reactively, but proactively by Simplisafe. They are the number one for home security on the planet. On the market, there's nobody better than Simplisafe. I got the cameras going on. I got indoor cameras. I got outdoor cameras. I'm looking all over the place. Most security systems only take action after somebody breaks in, but you and I know that's too late. Late especially when you have a little one at home and when you have your wife at home and the big dog's not there, right? Simplisafe's new active guard outdoor protection helps stop break ins before they happen. AI powered cameras, live monitoring agents detect suspicious activity around the property. If somebody's lurking, agents talk to them in real time, turn on spotlights and can call the police, proactively deterring crime before it starts. Everything's on the app. I want to see the cameras. Boom. I see who's walking their dog a little too close to my yard, maybe leaving some dog residue close to my yard. I can go on the microphone, say, buddy, clean up after your dog. Over 4 million Americans trust Simplisafe. And so do I. Simplisafe is offering Levitro listeners 50% off a new system with professional monitoring. Plus your first month is free. Visit simplisafe.com DLB to claim this offer. That's simplisafe.com DLB there's no safe like SimpliSafe. The Dan LeBatard show at Stugarts is sponsored by Better Help. All right, let's talk for a second. Work stress. Life feels out of control right now. If you want me to be honest, like, 61% of the people worldwide are saying that they're more stressed than normal. That's not just, I had a tough meeting stress. That's my brain is buffering constantly stress. And sure, we all say, I just need a vacation.
Dan LeBatard
Cool.
Stugatz
Sit on a beach, come back, sunburn, sand in your pocket, and the same stress that you left with. It's not the long term option. It's not the long term fix. What has helped me lately is just taking small steps. I get some sun every morning. I do my little incline walks. Yes, I walk on the treadmill at an incline. And I just try and stay ahead of the chaos happening at home. But sometimes that's not enough. And that's where therapy can really help. Not just if you're going through something heavy, but just to help you feel more like you. And BetterHelp makes it so easy. They're the biggest online therapy platform in the world. Over 30, 30,000 therapists, 5 million people helped and 4.9 app store rating from almost 2 million reviews. That's not a fluke. Pablo Torre
All right, Trump, thank you as always for joining us. I want to get to some truths here with you, if I may. Pablo Torrey in with us all. Show today, is it true that Donald Trump has never in his life used an atm?
Dan LeBatard
Well, I haven't used too many of them, but I do love the concept. And, you know, we're going to have to be a little bit careful. A lot of money is being taken out of different forms of computerization. I think someday we're going to have to go back to the old days, you know, the old way. But no, I'm not big on them, but I have used them. Yes.
Pablo Torre
How often does someone try to steal Donald Trump's identity? Must happen all the time, right? You are probably the subject of identity theft all the time.
Dan LeBatard
I'm hearing it. Does we deal with it harshly like you guys would deal with it? We deal with it very, very harshly. But it's happening to me and it happens to many people.
Pablo Torre
How many times a week? No doubt about how many times a week does that happen to Donald Trump?
Dan LeBatard
Well, I'm not sure about a week. But it does happen. There's no question about it.
Pablo Torre
Donald Trump with us here on ESPN Radio, who is your best famous friend, like among your famous friends? I'm giving you opportunity you've waited for all your life here, Trump, to just name drop all of your friends. And so I'm wondering who is your best of your famous friends?
Dan LeBatard
You know what people don't know about me? I have a lot of friends. I have a lot of good friends. And that's not my image. But I actually have people that do like me, which is a little hard to believe. Well, I have a lot of people in the sports world. Bob Kraft is a friend. Coach Belichick is a friend. Tom Brady is a friend. And by the way, Tom Brady is a great guy. And I hope that all works out. And I Hope it works out well and soon. But Tom Brady is a. Well, hold on.
Pablo Torre
So how have you experienced. If these are your best friends, how did you experience the flight gate? Like, if Brady.
Dan LeBatard
I did experience it, and I go along with Tom and, you know, a lot of people are questioning whether or not they were actually measured properly, and there's a lot of different things can go on. But I can only tell you this. Tom Brady is an honorable guy. He's an honest guy, and he's a really good guy. I play golf with Tom Brady, and if he played, because I've won a lot of club championships over the years, I can tell you if he played, he would be a phenomenal. If he played more, he would be. He's got tremendous golf talent. I'm sure you're not surprised to hear that because, you know, he's great athlete.
Pablo Torre
But every time you come on here, you tell us someone's a great golfer. I don't care whether he's a great golfer. I do. I do, Donald.
Tony
I do. Is Goodell a friend?
Dan LeBatard
I know him well. I like him a lot. He's had a rough year. There's no question about it. But I think he's a terrific person. He's a very good man.
Tony
Good golfer.
Dan LeBatard
I don't know him as a golfer.
Pablo Torre
Ah, Donald Trump.
Dan LeBatard
Finally, we've.
Pablo Torre
We've cornered Donald Trump. But I'm just curious, as you've seen deflate gate play out in the press, I'm curious if you're friends with Belichick and Bob Kraft. Like Bob Kraft, that was a hugely humbling thing that he had to experience. Where he goes from. The NFL is going to owe me an apology soon to. Never mind. I'm going to run away with my tails between my legs.
Dan LeBatard
Well, I was surprised that he did it, and personally, I would have never done it in a million years. I would not have done what he did. I was very surprised that he took the punishment without an appeal. I think you're always better off appealing because if you appeal, you're going to get something out of it. Even if it's not much, you're going to get something. So there must have been tremendous pressure. I mean, I know Bob well, and he's a terrific person and he's been a great team owner, if you think about it, with, you know, not too much drama. He's just taken that team and they've done a great job for many years now. It helps when you have Belichick and it helps when you have Brady, but he's been a very good team owner. I was very surprised when he didn't take an appeal, actually.
Pablo Torre
Trump, you mean not much drama outside of the giant cheating scandals?
Dan LeBatard
Well, no, there's a scandal going now, but I'm saying up until this point, certainly there hasn't been. For somebody that's been at the top of the heap for so long, I think there's been very little drama. Now, this is caused a little bit of drama, and they've had a couple of things where there's been some drama. But if you think about it, they've done really well. They had, you know, lots of Super Bowls, lots of everything else. They've been in lots of Super Bowls. They had two Super Bowls. That could have been one, they could have had five. But, you know, I think there's been a lack of drama for somebody that's been in that position, which I give him a lot of credit for. I think Bob Kraft has been a great owner.
Stugatz
Donald, I'm curious, is there an evidence.
Tony
Is there a story of somebody from sports asking you for advice? And do you recall a notable piece of advice you gave to somebody in the world of athletics?
Dan LeBatard
Well, I get it all the time. I mean, you talk about Deflategate, I talk about those folks. And, you know, frankly, I think Tom Brady should sue the NFL for $250 million and settle for nothing and, you know, get out of this thing. But, you know, but I get it all the time. I get a lot of people now. Woody Johnson of the jets is a terrific guy. He's a friend of mine. And, and the Tisch family are friends of mine. I mean, I have a lot of friends in sports. Fred Wilpon and the Steinbrenner Fair. I know them all, and they're all. You have a lot of great people in sports. I just got back from the United States Golf association where Jack Nicklaus, who's a good friend of mine, was being honored. You know, who's better than Jack at the world of golf? And you know that from, from anything. But they just donated or just just opened a wing to Jack Nicklaus, a wing of the museum to Jack Nicklaus. And it really deserves it. So he, you know, I have so many friends in sports. People in sports are amazing people. They're great people.
Pablo Torre
Hold on a second. What did you suggest? You said Tom Brady should sue for $250 million?
Dan LeBatard
No, I'm not saying I suggest. I say I think I would have sued the NFL. I would have gotten myself a really nice lawyer. I would have called Trump and said, give me a good lawyer. And I would have if I were Tom, because, you know, they have a situation. They don't even know whether the Bulls were inflated. Properly not inflated. Nobody knows. I mean, the referees really blew it. You want to know the truth? But I would say that I would sue the NFL for a tremendous amount of money, and probably somewhere down the line, you'll settle. I think Tom is the kind of guy that would like to see it over with. He wants to get back to winning Super Bowls, and he's a fantastic guy, and he's a fantastic quarterback, so I understand that, too. I think I would have taken a different. I would have brought a lawsuit against the NFL for about 250 million.
Pablo Torre
All right. Out of curiosity, give or take a couple of million, Just give or take a couple of minutes. When is the last time Donald Trump found himself in a. In a position where he simply did not have cash to pay for something? Where you were in a place and you forgot your wallet or you just simply didn't. You couldn't pay for something?
Dan LeBatard
Well, I mean, I could tell you years ago, when the market crashed, I was in deep trouble. Friends of mine and enemies of mine also were going bankrupt. I never did. But I owed billions and billions of dollars. And I was in deep trouble. And I fought it out, and now my company is much bigger, much stronger than ever before. But I had, you know, many people in the real estate industry and a lot of other industries are going out of business, and I fought like hell. You learn a lot about yourself in bad times, I will tell you that. You know, you learn if you can take it or not. But it's like sports. I mean, sports is amazing because it's sort of a mini version of life. And you would just watch and you just see that. But I owed billions of dollars.
Pablo Torre
Well, explain to us that. Explain to us going to bed at night knowing, hey, I'm going to wake up in the morning, billions of dollars in the hole. Like, what is that? What does that one feel?
Dan LeBatard
Well, see, I view it differently. The banks have problems. That's what I say to myself, okay? I say, boy, do those banks have problems. Now, somebody else with the wrong attitude would say, maybe they have a problem. But I view it as the people that have the money maybe have a problem. So. And I say that a little bit laughingly and a little sarcastically, but it worked out amazingly well. And, you know, many, many people. You know that. And many, many people went out of business. I mean, there was a terrible recession. Five, seven, Years ago, there was a terrible recession in the early 90s, and the early 90s was brutal. And I came out, you know, very strong. And this last one, it was the opposite. It was. I was so strong going into the. I loved it because I bought a lot of stuff. You know, I just bought the great Turnberry in Scotland, the Turnberry Resort, which is one of the great places. That's where they have the open championship. I bought Doral in Miami, hundreds of acres of land right in the middle of Miami, and bought that about four years ago and redid it. And it's now just about the number one resort in the country. And, you know, it's called Trump National Derail. So we have a lot of fun with this stuff. I'm building a hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue right opposite the White House, the old Post Office Building. Best location in Washington, D.C. and I have a lot of fun. But people do. They call me. They want advice for different things, and I like to give it to them if I like them.
Pablo Torre
Donald, do me a favor. Break news right here on this show on ESPN Radio.
Dan LeBatard
Don't wait till June.
Pablo Torre
Are you running for. Are you running for office?
Tony
Are you running for president?
Dan LeBatard
So I'm looking at it very seriously, fellas. And by the way, you guys have a great show. That's why I'm doing it. But I think you have a great show. I watch it a lot, but I am thinking about it very, very seriously. And the country is in trouble. We're being laughed at by everybody. China is taking our jobs. They're taking our manufacturing. They're loaning us the money. They're taking our money, and then they loan it back to us. We owe China now $1.3 trillion. Can you believe. Trillion. $1.3 trillion. Mexico is not our friend. Mexico is doing a number on us. Not only at the border, but they're doing a number of. Economically, they're taking our jobs like crazy. Ford just announced a $2.5 billion plant in Mexico. I am looking at it very seriously, and I'll be announcing in June. And I think a lot of people are going to be very, very surprised. One thing I will tell you, if I decide to do it, and if I win, I will make this country great again. Because our country is run by people that don't have a clue. And our country really. I mean, it's run by politicians and a politician. And I've said it for a long time, nobody knows him better than me. They're all talk. They're no action. And this country is in trouble. Our country is in trouble.
Pablo Torre
So wait, we're not friends with Mexico. All right, moving on. Here's Lisa Lample.
Dan LeBatard
No, we're not.
Pablo Torre
All right.
Dan LeBatard
And the reason is that people are outsmarting our people. Here's Mexico's fine, but their people are outsmarting our people at every. At every cross.
Pablo Torre
This might damage your presidential campaign. This comment from Lisa Lampanelli.
Tony
Donald, tonight, people will make fun of your looks. You've always gotten beautiful women.
Dan LeBatard
You've ruined more models lives than bulimia.
Pablo Torre
You've disappointed more women than Sex and the City, too. That's from the Comedy Central roast.
Dan LeBatard
Lisa was great. She was on the. As you know, she was on the Apprentice, and she did a great job, and she was terrific.
Pablo Torre
What kind of comment is that? You're not beefing?
Dan LeBatard
What can I say? I mean, she was. And, you know, the show has been such a big success, the Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice. But it's been such a tremendous success. And, you know, who would have thought this was going to happen to me, right? So I have a show, and, you know, there's been 15 copies of the Apprentice. Fifteen. And many of your friends have copied it. People that you know very well in the world of sports, they've copied it. And every one of them have failed and failed badly. And so, you know, I'm just honored by the great success of that show. But now I'm onto something. You know, NBC wants very much to renew it. They've already announced we're renewing it as soon as Donald is ready. But I told him I have something that I'm doing that's very important. Even important. Even important to you guys. All right. Wow.
Pablo Torre
But we've got to go. Unfortunately, we don't have time to hear about that right now.
Dan LeBatard
That's okay.
Pablo Torre
Thank you. Thanks for watching our show, Donald. Thank you, Donald.
Dan LeBatard
Well, thank you. Keep the show going. It's terrific.
Chris Cody
Jeremy, you know something about me, right? You know when I'm grilling outside and it's summertime, you know how I supplement my summertime?
Tony
Of course I do.
Chris Cody
I make it Miller time. Of course. That beautiful white can. Oh. When it's so hot outside, I just. I just put it right to my forehead right there. And I just roll it sometimes right on the forehead, cool my body down, and then I crack it open. Instant relief. And then that first sip, brother does that first sip.
Tony
That is a top five sequence of events that you can possibly go through.
Chris Cody
I'm just serenity now, when I just imagine that first sip of Miller Life.
Tony
Just thinking about it. It's making me happy.
Chris Cody
Dude, the sun is out.
Dan LeBatard
It's nice.
Chris Cody
