Rosie
You can watch. They will have live reacting live. You people been asking for that so this is your chance.
David Drunken
People have been asking for that.
Rosie
Yeah, they have.
David Drunken
I don't believe you.
Ethan
They want to see you angry in real time. I was just trying to sell sell the watch party. Like they will have hockey and alcohol.
Rosie
Like no, they will have Roy Roy reacting life.
Ethan
Well no, I know you're dry so you're going to get salty. Roy. Yeah Stanley Cup Final. Hockey and alcohol and me having an existential crisis. And you also can hang out with Ethan.
David Drunken
Hopefully the, the Deaf Flamingo will serve mocktails for me.
Ethan
Or at least we gotta figure something out.
David Drunken
Not a good situation.
Ethan
They'll have a ginger beer.
David Drunken
Also tonight, this is gonna be before the game. The NHL is bringing back the Stanley Pup. This was a hit last year. It's gonna be on True TV tonight at 5:30 Eastern. If you are in Canada, it's gonna be on Sportsnet at 6pm Eastern. The national nonprofit organization called Petco Love will provide some rescue dogs in a between the pups. And each dog is going to represent each respective 32 teams in the National Hockey League.
Ethan
So it's like the Puppy Bowl.
David Drunken
Yeah, kind of like the Puppy bowl but hockey related.
Ethan
Yeah, it's going to be better then.
David Drunken
So they named the dogs. They named the dogs yet again. And we got some examples here, some really good ones. Yeah. Representing the Stanley cup finalists for the Florida Panthers, we have Matthew Fetch Chuck.
Roy Bellamy
Look at that. Good boy.
Ethan
That's a tough name.
Roy Bellamy
That's a good boy.
Ethan
That's a tough name to try to get out clean.
David Drunken
Yeah. I mean that K is not helping things. Representing the Edmonton Oilers. Leon outside.
Roy Bellamy
That's cheeky. Leon outside. Very cheeky.
David Drunken
Yeah, so that's. Those are some good names. And we have. Each of us has our favorite dog and we're going to get to it here. David, what is your favorite dog name out of the bunch for the Stanley Pup?
Ethan
It was tough. It was tough. I went with Liquor Yellers. I like that. They, they got both the first and the last name of Nikolai Ehlers. But look how cute that little puppy. Look at those ears. But yeah, just a Nicolai Yellers. Yeah, it's so cute. I think there's a. That's a very Winnipeg dog.
David Drunken
Yeah. My favorite dog out of the bunch. Plain and simple. Doggy Hamilton. I mean, look at that guy.
Roy Bellamy
I like how Roy picks the. The most basic one.
Ethan
Yeah.
David Drunken
Chris Cody is in the studio. He's had some. Yes, I'm the same way.
Jeremy
I just don't understand how we're doing a segment with dog names in this series and there's not one just named Barky.
Roy Bellamy
Wasn't he last year?
Ethan
Wasn't last year.
Roy Bellamy
The Panthers was Barkov.
Jeremy
Okay, well, there you go. I came in here to feel better. I needed. It's like the hockey show can make me feel better. I'm a little nervous before this game tonight and you guys are doing dog name. So I'm just going to leave.
Ethan
Dude. Puppies.
Roy Bellamy
Well, that should show you how relaxed we are. That we're.
Ethan
We're.
Roy Bellamy
We're so relaxed. We're so ready for game two.
David Drunken
Yeah.
Roy Bellamy
So chill about the position the Panthers are in that we're going over these dogs.
Jeremy
I mean, I'll be real. I know you guys are all going to do the thing. I'm scared shitless.
David Drunken
How long have you known me, Chris?
Jeremy
I know you won't admit that you're scared, so I'll do it. I'm scared.
Ethan
How are you feeling in the Toronto series?
Jeremy
Much better because they didn't have. There's this guy named Connor McDavid and.
Roy Bellamy
There'S this other guy named Austin Matthews.
Jeremy
There's something like three other guys. That's so. It's funny you bring it up because when we were down 2o to Tampa, I had this odd sense that we were going to still win the series pretty easily.
Ethan
But this one, that's the Toronto stigma working in your favor.
Jeremy
This one, it's just. It just feels like their year dorky.
Roy Bellamy
It feels like I, I said it last week. It feels like the 2014 Spurs.
Ethan
I think you're letting your inner South.
Jeremy
It feels like Crosby. What year did he get his first one?
Ethan
The year after he lost?
Roy Bellamy
Well, this is the weirdest thing.
Jeremy
That's what this feels like. This feels like Crosby that year.
Roy Bellamy
This is the weirdest thing is that Gretzky, his first cup appearance was against the Islanders and he lost to the Islanders. The next year he came back and played the Islanders and beat the Islanders. Crosby's first cup appearance was against the Red. Win.
David Drunken
Yeah.
Roy Bellamy
Came back the next. He lost to the Red Wings.
Rosie
It's all over Instagram.
Roy Bellamy
It's weird that there's a lot of.
Jeremy
Stars along right there. Writing's on the wall, boys and girls.
David Drunken
Fellas, lady, maybe it's a seven game series. It was just game one. Let's calm down. Let's focus on game two.
Roy Bellamy
Let's focus on these puppies. I love you, Chris Cody.
Ethan
Bye, Chris.
Roy Bellamy
Can't wait to see you tonight.
David Drunken
Ethan. Go.
Roy Bellamy
My. My favorite name was Matt's Buparello, but my favorite dog has to be Tyler Bartoozy from the Chicago Blackhawks. And I'm gonna tell you why. He looks like Willow, my favorite puppy besides Percy. I love Willow so much. And he looks like Willow. He's got the ears. He's got the dot on the eye. So cute. So, Tyler Bartoozy, shout out to you. I texted Jess last night. I'm like this dog looks like Willow. It's so cute.
David Drunken
Rosie, what's your favorite dog?
Rosie
My dog is Dylan.
Roy Bellamy
Howay.
Rosie
Oh, Holloway, look at that dog.
Roy Bellamy
It's a cute puppy.
David Drunken
Wait, wait, wait. I'm going to have to. What did you say?
Rosie
I don't know. Dylan.
Ethan
How.
Roy Bellamy
Like howl at the moon.
Rosie
I need the name. Someone put it, please. Oh, Dylan Holaway.
David Drunken
Do you not remember the dog that you picked?
Ethan
That's fine. You just added too many.
David Drunken
Holloway. There was an S somewhere in there.
Rosie
Dylan Holloway. He's a cutie. Look at his eyes. Oh, and those and those ears and everything. He's looking at you like I'm here.
David Drunken
All right. There will be appearances from dog loving celebrities and some NHL players introducing the dogs as they go out to compete for the Stanley Pup in support of adoptions in the local cities. One of those players will be Panthers second line center Sam Bennett. As we've mentioned before on this program, Sam Bennett has a nonprofit called Benny's Buddies and the initiative sponsors pet adoptions through the Humane Society of Broward County. Every goal that Bennett scores equals one adoption sponsorship. So Sam Bennett scored twice in Game 1, so his playoff total goes up to 12. He scored 11 of those goals on the road, by the way.
Ethan
Wow. So we got some New Panthers record.
David Drunken
Also new Panthers record of 12 playoff goals in a single playoff season.
Ethan
Knocking Matthew Barkchucker. I don't even want to.
Roy Bellamy
Rasmus Dalish.
Ethan
Yeah, I've got 12. Oh, Lis.
Roy Bellamy
Jake Ottengar.
Ethan
The Stanley Pup, like going through it last night, I just kept typing ones that I liked and I'm just looking.
Roy Bellamy
They were all good. Can we put that graphic back up there? Because up in the top right corners, Matt's Buperello. That's the best name by far.
David Drunken
Yeah.
Ethan
Poop.
David Drunken
Yeah. Those dogs are still waiting to be rescued that you are seeing on the screen. So let's go over the total so far for Sam Bennett. 25 during a regular season, one during Four nations and 12 in the playo. That's 38 adoption sponsorships. That initiative has really helped him have a career year. And he's gonna get a big fat contract.
Ethan
He is.
David Drunken
So, yeah, hopefully.
Ethan
Hopefully it's a tax free contract.
David Drunken
Yeah, hopefully. And not in like Tennessee or Texas or.
Ethan
No, no, no. He's happy here. He's got the Bennett's bunnies.
David Drunken
Speaking of nonprofit initiatives, please support my best friend Amanda. It was her birthday, by the way. Happy birthday.
Ethan
Happy birthday, Amanda.
David Drunken
Yeah, she has a rescue paws and she wants to pass along that Spaying, spaying and neutering is vital to making sure that the pet population doesn't go out of control. Currently there are a big number of strays out on the streets. About 37,000 strays currently on our streets right now. So you gotta get your pet spayed and neutered. Her efforts are to help smaller rescues save animals, to fund spaying and neutering, neutering and the collection of donations and providing a network of dogs trying to find a forever home. Every dollar counts. Even $5. As little as $5. So help out please by logging on to rescue Paws FL o r g. You'll get more information there. So let's help our for like friends please.
Ethan
Jeremy Speyman was one of the names that made me think of that.
Roy Bellamy
Tyler Taferi. That was a really cute dog.
Ethan
The adorable.
Roy Bellamy
Keep going. Dorky.
David Drunken
Wins and fails.
Ethan
There were some good ones.
David Drunken
Wins and Fails of the Week is presented by Jagermeister. Serve a cold or don't serve it at all. Jagermeister. Damn, that's cold. For more visit jagermeister.com Drink responsibly. David, what is your win of the week?
Ethan
My win of the week? We're going to the ahl the the Charlotte Checkers, the Florida Panthers affiliate. The two teams are simultaneously in their respective final. The Checkers swept the regular season champion Laval Rocket in the Eastern Conference final. They came back in game four. They were down two to nothing. Came back won at three to two. Jesse Puliavi had the winning goal. Yeah, you know they picked him up midway. He's been playing very well for Charlotte. I think he's second in the team in scoring eight straight wins for Charlotte as they march through the the Eastern Conference. So they're either going to play Abbotsford or Texas. Game five of that series is tonight, I believe. The Canucks are up three to one. But just good on Charlotte. Good on the whole Panthers organization.
Rosie
Canucks.
Ethan
A lot of winning Canucks. The Abbotsford Canucks.
Roy Bellamy
Canucks.
David Drunken
Jeez, Rosie, you're never going to get that right. My winner of the week comes from the Canadian Hockey League as they crowned a new Memorial cup champion. For the juniors, the London Knights beat the Medicine Hat Tigers to take the tournament. That is back to back Memorial cup wins for a team out of the Ontario Hockey League. Before that, representatives of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League won four in a row. And before that, before back to the back to back wins for the ohl, there hasn't been a single Western Hockey League team to win the Memorial cup since 2014. Wow, that is a Long realized it.
Ethan
Had been that long.
David Drunken
Yeah. It's the Edmonton Oriole Kings. The last time whl.
Ethan
They score a lot of goals out in the whl.
David Drunken
Yeah, apparently not in. Not in the Memorial cup tournament. Congratulations to the London Knights for the win. Ethan was your win.
Roy Bellamy
My win of the week, boys, is me. What a year it's been for.
David Drunken
Why am I not surprised with some of these.
Roy Bellamy
Some of his teams and another one got a title. On Saturday, Paris Saint Germain, my favorite soccer club in the world, won their first UEFA Champions League five nothing over Inter Milan. The biggest win in Champions League final history. One of the great moments for in my sports life, to be honest with you. This team has been pursuing a Champions League for a long, long time. No team has wanted it more. And they finally got the job done. Desiree Dua, the star of the match, went home, celebrated in Paris. It was unbelievable scenes. Unbelievable, unbelievable. Unbelievable.
Rosie
539 were arrested in the last.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, not great. Not great with celebrations. But in the last year.
Ethan
Vancouver of the Europe.
Roy Bellamy
In the last year, the Panthers have won a title, the Gators have won a title, Tottenham has won a title. And now PSG has won the Champions League. The year of Ethan continues.
David Drunken
I don't know what the are you doing? This is the hockey. It's the Hockey Show.
Roy Bellamy
What the hell?
David Drunken
Why are we talking about.
Roy Bellamy
Rose talks about Caitlin Clark. Rose talks about Ariana Grande. No problem there.
Rosie
That is my character when ECP wants.
Roy Bellamy
To talk about something.
David Drunken
No. Have you listened to a single episode of the Hockey Show?
Roy Bellamy
When she does that every week.
David Drunken
When she does that, I reprimand her as well. So I'm reprimanding you.
Roy Bellamy
That's fine.
David Drunken
This is not hockey. That is soccer. That's the wrong sport.
Roy Bellamy
That's fine. Salute to psg. Salute to Desiree.
Ethan
Do a goals and offside.
Roy Bellamy
It's basically, you know what my dad after the game was like, no, no more soccer.
Rosie
Give me hockey.
David Drunken
Win of the week, Rosie Rose.
Rosie
Okay. My win of the week comes from our one and only Stugarts.
Chris Cody
I've been listening to a lot of content. Top five things you should subscribe to and number one, the Hockey show.
Ethan
Yeah.
Chris Cody
That is a quality show. I'm telling you, Roy Dwarky, it's a good show.
Jeremy
Who else is on that with them?
David Drunken
No idea.
Chris Cody
Oh, and Rosie, of course.
David Drunken
And Ethan and.
Chris Cody
But Ski, I don't think that there's a dwarf. Ski, I don't think.
David Drunken
Dorky.
Jeremy
I think it's dorky.
Chris Cody
I don't think anyone calls Him Dork.
Roy Bellamy
I called all the time.
Chris Cody
All the time on the show.
David Drunken
Yeah.
Chris Cody
Dorky. Here come the Jays.
David Drunken
We sell a shirt that says Dorky on it.
Chris Cody
Do we?
Roy Bellamy
There's a shirt selling contest going on amongst the hockey show right now. I don't have the numbers, but whoever sells the most shirt amongst Rose.
Rosie
Yeah. So if you want to go buy your shirt, go to the link. I don't know where the endorsement by my shirt.
Ethan
Yes, the Stu Dots endorsement. Helping us or heard us.
David Drunken
He wrote a book Fails. David, what's your fail of the week?
Ethan
My fail of the week is smooth criminal. No, it's after Thomas nose. Yeah. Thank you. Put the puck over their last in overtime. Led to the power play that ended the game for Edmonton. Jake Walman, the Oilers defenseman, was having a lot of fun after no puck over their last one. Right up in his face. Let him know about it. That's a big fail for Nosek. I feel for the guy. The team rallied around him. Don't be surprised to see him a little extra motivated in game two tonight. But. Oh, that's gotta. That'd be rough.
David Drunken
You gotta think that the. The second line had to have seen that video and I think they're gonna probably respond.
Ethan
You would think so. And I mean honestly, like the play, like nobody's talking about it, but it looked like Jesse or not Puyarvi Vasily Putt Colson. Like he got a stick right up there with no sick. When he shot it over the glass, it sounded like there was a little bit of maybe extra contact. I don't know. It was a little weird. The penalty was called anyway. But I don't know. Just lay off Thomas. No sick.
David Drunken
You're not going to challenge that in overtime, right?
Ethan
Can you challenge that?
David Drunken
You know, puck over the glass?
Roy Bellamy
No.
Ethan
If it goes off someone's stick.
David Drunken
Yeah, I believe so. Puck over the glass. That's challengable. So I think. I believe they made that rule change earlier before the season. So I believe so. So while you look that up, I will go to my win of the week. The fail of the week. I'm sorry. This fell comes from the city, Toronto. The Canadian National Tower. Much like the Empire State Building in New York City. They light the building or at least the top of the building up in different colors for different occasions. For instance, the Empire State Building probably lit itself in blue and orange when the next gap passed the second round. That's all they got passed, by the way. Well, the. The CN Tower decided prior to game one understanding cup final Light itself up in blue and orange. Kind of like the Knicks in New York. Blue and orange for the Edmonton Oilers. Apparently Toronto's cheering for the Oilers. In fact, I believe that all Canada except for Calgary is cheering for Edmonton. That has some loser behavior out of the city of Toronto, in my opinion.
Ethan
Yeah, I didn't like that.
David Drunken
We got to laugh at Toronto once more for losing to the Panthers and now cheering for the team that the Panthers are facing in the Stanley cup final. That is hilarious to me. Right? That that's just funny. That's loser mentality on Toronto.
Ethan
The only thing that's going to make that even, you know, the icing on the cake would be Mitch Marner taking a lot less money to sign with Florida. Ethan, that's like the big shaft to Toronto. Sorry. Go ahead.
Roy Bellamy
Rose and I have a collective fail of the week.
Rosie
So ladies and gentlemen, the fail of the week is Barky has a girlfriend, is a tennis player. So now my other lover is Lorenzo Musetti because Barki broke my heart. That's our fan of the week.
Ethan
Who does he? Seattle Kraken Lorenzo Massetti.
Roy Bellamy
He's a tennis player. He's in the semifinals right now.
Ethan
So we got soccer, we got tennis on the other side of the glass today.
Rosie
Yeah. Because Barky broke my heart. So.
Ethan
And yes, collective it is reviewable, by the way.
David Drunken
I told you.
Ethan
Yeah.
Rosie
Thank you very much.
David Drunken

Joins us from the fourth period and some major news out of the city of Dallas. The Dallas Stars have fired Peter DeBoer. And I have to say, some major news there as Peter DeBore has not made it out of a conference final in a long, long time.
Ethan
He's made it to the conference finals a lot.
David Drunken
Yeah, just can't get over that hump. David, what are you hearing out of the city of Dallas right now about Peter DeBoer? Do they have anybody in mind as a successor? And also what else is going on around the league as far as coaching carousels are concerned?
Chris Cody
Well, guys, I mean, this kind of caught the team a little bit off guard, at least from the management side of things. They anticipated the board coming back. He's got one more year left on his contract and it wasn't until really the exit meetings that the players had where they realized the change was needed. A lot of the players were upset and disappointed with the way that DeBoer handled himself, how he addressed the team throughout the conference final. This wasn't exclusive to, you know, pulling Jake Ottinger and calling him out after, after game five when they were eliminated. There's, there was more to it certainly than that. And that ultimately led to Jim Nil, their GM and management making the decision to let him go. You know, earlier this week, Pittsburgh and Boston make their coaching additions. Dan Use with Pittsburgh, Marco Sturm with, with, with Boston. I think you're looking at a veteran type of presence coming in to Dallas, somebody to close things out. You know, if this was premeditated, as in, you know, the writing was on the wall kind of thing, they would have had a couple candidates in mind. Again, this kind of caught them off guard. They're going to go through their, their search right now, but I do anticipate somebody coming in that, that is a veteran voice that has won or has that kind of pedigree before to come in to help this team get over that hump.
Ethan
Dave, what do you think this means, if anything, for. For Pizza Bore as a potential, you know, head coach? I would think he's not going to be on the open market very long, but this is going to bring a lot of attention to his coaching record and his inability to get over the hump. As Roy said, personally, you know, if I'm a losing team, I'm happy to hire a guy that's got nothing but playoff success. You know, on the big picture for his career. But do you think this affects him in terms of his higher ability, or is he going to get snatched off the open market as soon as there's a team that, you know, needs a great coach?
Chris Cody
You know, I think this is, you know, there are teams that are considering changes. We're going to go into the season and go, look, if we. If we stumble the first, you know, 10, 12, 15 games of the season and need to make an adjustment, we know we've got a guy who's. Who's been there before that can get us. That can get us there. You know, he's. He's been to, what, five or six or lost. Excuse me, five or six conference finals. He's been to two more, losing in the Stanley cup final, twice. Once with New Jersey, once with Vegas. There's a lot of experience that he brings to the table, and that's what a lot of teams are looking for, especially contending teams. So it wouldn't surprise me if the turnover happens relatively quickly for. For Pete DeBoer. Doesn't sound like there's an opportunity right now because all the teams that made their coaching decisions have, you know, already scooped up their guy. But I think this is more of a scenario, as I, as I kind of suggested earlier, if there's. If there's a team that stumbles out of the gate going into October, November, they've got a pretty good guy that they could turn to if they want to make that type of decision.
Roy Bellamy
You mentioned that the stars were surprised, like, by this move, but what about the rest of the league? Because I feel like everybody kind of watching that game and how it unfolded and his comments after, and his comments at, you know, the exit media day kind of seemed like this was the only result here. So is the rest of the league surprised by this?
Chris Cody
You know, at that point? I don't think. I don't think the league's really surprised. And. And the stars, too. I think, you know, once they had their meetings, I think they knew, we're going to have to do something here. This. This isn't going to fly. And I think after the. The public media exit interviews, that's when everybody was kind of like, okay, they're likely making some type of change here. And I think the rest of the league kind of understood that. I think there was surprise across the board because, look, he was there three seasons. They made it to the conference final three times. That's a big accomplishment. But, you know, when you lose the room, even if you get to that point, it makes things certainly difficult to, to move forward. And again, this goes beyond the Jake Ottinger comments and pulling him and all of that. There's more to it. But, you know, certainly I think, you know, once those exit meetings, or, excuse me, exit interviews took place with the media, I think everybody kind of had a good inkling that they're probably going through some type of change.
David Drunken
Gary Bettman and Bill Daly had their State of the League address be before game one, and I just want to get into the collective bargaining agreement and how negotiations are going. David Sampson came on the Levitas show and gave a dire prediction about Major League Baseball cba. Are we looking at some trouble ahead or are they negotiating in good faith with each other?
Chris Cody
When I first started to dip my toe into hockey Media, it was 2003. At that point, you know, there was a lockout. The season got interrupted in 04.05. From that point to just prior to now, I've never experienced or had comments from both the NHL and the NHLPA side that suggested there was harmony. There's harmony right now and there has been since Marty Walsh kind of took over as executive director of the nhlpa. Every indication that I've been given is that they will come to an extension on a CBA in the not too distant future. You know, we had Gary Bettman on, on with us after his press conference on Sirius XM during the pregame show and he just reiterated, we have a great relationship, a strong working relationship, and they're going to get there. You know, he indicated, excuse me. They thought, you know, they would get the ball rolling in January, February. It took a little bit of extra time because of everything going on. Four nations they had to focus on and so on and so forth. But, you know, once they started to hammer things down in April and go, go from there, they've been checking off boxes like one after another. And I would be very surprised if we don't get announcement by next season. Some people have told me that the goal is to get something done here in the next month, within the next month. So I fully expect the new CBA to be agreed upon between the NHL and NHLPA in the very near future. I think perfect world, they would have liked to have something done now and announce it ahead of the Cup Final. Obviously they didn't simply because there just, there wasn't enough time. Could we see something around the draft later this month or around free agency every. You know, what I've been told is that's, that's a possible timeline as well.
Roy Bellamy
You mentioned free agency. Might as well dive right into it. The big question down here, and I think in a lot of NHL circles, is what's going to happen with Sam Bennett. Some of the steam is starting to pick up that he is leaning towards remaining with the Florida Panthers here. You know, I saw one rumor that said he would only get seven and a half on the open market, which seems insane. And at that point he would almost certainly stay in Florida. Where do you think this stands right now? And where do you think this ends up come July 1st?
Chris Cody
Yeah, I'd be a little bit surprised if he leaves, to be perfectly honest. I think there's a pathway towards a relationship extending here similar to Sam Reinhardt. They, you know, the longer this goes, the more speculation kind of pops up. Right. Just like last summer, maybe Sam won't sign. Maybe he's looking for, you know, X amount of dollars and this and that and the other. He ended up sticking around. I think Sam. Sam Bennett's kind of following a similar pattern here. I'd be a little bit surprised if he does hit July 1st and hit the open market. I think the Panthers and him, I mean, obviously, I think we all know they want to keep that marriage going, the relationship going. We'll see kind of where it ends up. But I can certainly see something in the 8 by 8 vicinity here for Sam sticking around in South Florida.
David Drunken
The Panthers have plenty of deals that they're going to have to make in the off season, two of which, or at least they're going to try, I believe is Aaron Eckblad and Brad Marshan. What do you see going on there with Marshy?
Chris Cody
I think. I think there's an opportunity for him to stay. I know there are a lot of reports now that he might cash in big on the open market. I think it's more than that for him. He had a choice and he made it. He wanted to go to Florida. He wanted to be part of the Panthers. If he was getting moved out of Boston, he didn't have a full no trade or no move, but that was his preference and they did him. Right. We'll see kind of where things go here. But I think if it's leading on one side versus the other, I think it's leaning towards sticking around. Ekblad, different story. You know, younger, been here a while, has an opportunity to cash in on another big contract. I don't know if that big contract is going to happen with the Panthers talking to people. And then this goes back to. This goes back to Last offseason and, and there was a point where, you know, he switched agents, he switched representation. He actually, after he, he made the decision to walk away from his representation over at Wasserman, he actually decided to rep himself before bringing on, you know, Greg Arthur over at Newport Sports. Obviously that didn't go so well and they've, they've, you know, had discussions for over a year over what an extension would look like if he stays with the Panthers. It's less than the 7.5 million he's making this season. How much less is going to dictate whether or not he's going to stay? I've heard the number being six from the Panthers looking in and around that mark. I don't think he stays. This is a shallow free agent pool and there's an opportunity for him to cash in pretty decently on a new deal somewhere else if he does hit the open market. I think of all the primary Panthers free agents, I think the, the greater likelihood of somebody testing free agency, that, that, that revolves around Aaron.
Ethan
Dave getting into the Stanley Cup Final after game one. I think a lot of us were a little surprised with Florida's lack of aggression in the second half of that game. They switched and I know you mentioned this in your post game coverage, they switched to a 113 when almost simultaneous when Edmonton switched to putting McDavid and Draisaitl together, which is another issue. But what do you think Ford is going to do now in Game two? Because clearly that didn't work out too well for them and they're going to want to get back on the right side of things here and not fall into that O2 hole.
Chris Cody
Yeah, I mean, you know, there's obviously a little bit of familiarity with these two teams based on the Stanley Cup Final last year, but I think they were just testing. I think they were just looking to see, all right, they've changed, but to what extent? And you know, Florida's ability to put the pressure on is well documented. We all know what they can do and I think that's going to be the case going into game two later tonight. I think they're going to pedal to the metal this thing right out of the gate, right on puck drop. And you know, Matthew Tkachuk mentioned it yesterday in his, in his messaging with the media. They know they got to be more aggressive on the forecheck and that needs to happen over the course of a full 60, not just the first 45, you know, of the game and switching to a more defensive coverage. They did well, for six minutes of that third period, but there's 14 more minutes to go. I think they hit it a little too early and. And I think they're going to adjust and learn from that. This is, like I said, this is going to be a more aggressive Panthers group, I think that we see coming into, coming into the start of this game. And I think it's going to, you know, follow a full, a full three period, you know, March versus the first couple that they did last game. They understand how to combat them. They just, I think, didn't realize how much pushback the Oilers now have compared to what they faced last season, and they're going to adjust accordingly.
Ethan
And conversely, with that, NABWA choosing to put McDavid and Draisaitl together pretty, pretty early on was a little surprising. McDavid had like over 31 minutes of ice time. Draisaitl had nearly 30. These guys average like 23 per playoff game. But we saw what happened last year when they had absolutely nothing left in the tank at the end of game seven. So you'd have to think that's something that Knobbot's going to keep an eye on. But putting them together early that early at least surprised me. Dave.
Chris Cody
Yeah, yeah, that's their nuclear option, right? Put the big boys together and see what they can do. Not having Zach Hyman there and putting Corey Perry on that side like Bears played over 20, whatever it was, over 20 minutes, I don't know if that's sustainable over potentially seven games. But when, you know the Edmonton Oilers need to go that route, they can. What. What I think benefited them from, from keeping that together throughout the duration of the rest of that game anyway was the fact that Ryan Nugent Hopkins centering Kaspari Kapit and Evander Kane were very, very effective in, in game one. Another scenario that I don't see playing out over a full seven game potential series, but it worked in game one. They talked about it. Knobloch talked about it, excuse me, yesterday and said, look, if we need to go to it, we can, but it's not something we, we want to do every day, every game. And he likes the fact that Draisaitl and McDavid are on separate units. Dry Saddle's an underrated defensive center. They like having that at their disposal. So if they need to go to it, they know they can and they know it'll work. But I don't anticipate them starting, you know, tonight's game like that. If they're down 31 again, they know they can go to that option.
David Drunken
There's a bit of difference between last year's final and this year's final, aside from the Zach Hyman injury, is a healthy Evander Kane and his physicality. Apparently his physicality actually made a significant difference in Game one, and he actually got promoted to the first line for some. In some time in that game. I think that was the most surprising thing out of Game one. What was the most surprising thing to you?
Chris Cody
Yeah, the pushback from. From the oiler side of things. And Evander Kane was part of that. You know, having that physicality there. He was. He was relentless the entire game. I mean, Corey Perry and Evander Kane were pushing around Aaron Eckblad for a good chunk of this game and trying to get under his skin. They felt that was the right approach. And, you know, Evander was. Was relentless when it came to kind of getting in his face. They have the ability to kind of combat. We all know what the Panthers can do, and we know what they can do in the crease and trying to get under Stuart Skinner's skin. The Oilers possess similar pieces that can do that, too, and Evander Kane is a big. A big part of that. And having him healthy, having him well rested, he didn't play the season he was coming back from. From. From injury. You've got a pretty fresh set of legs there and a fresh body, and if they can keep that going, it's certainly going to be an advantage on their side, or at least something that they didn't have, as you mentioned last season, that can be a bit of a thorn, you know, for the Panthers. So we'll see, obviously, how they adjust here. I think that the aggressiveness that they're going to bring offensively will also come in their aggressive physical nature. And I believe that that's going to be a factor in this one. And we'll see, you know, as well, from the depth side of things, their fourth line, Florida's fourth line, didn't play a lot in Game 1. You know, not having A.J. greer is a bit of a factor. He practiced yesterday as we're doing this. I don't know if there's been any.
Roy Bellamy
Mention so far he's been on the ice today. Yeah.
Chris Cody
Yes. Okay. Yeah. So, I mean, like, you know, continuing to be on the ice, continuing to progress. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets back in there in. In tonight's action, and that would, you know, certainly, you know, be. Be advantageous for Florida in terms of how they're going to roll out their, their lines but they know that Evander Kane is going to be pain in the butt and, and that's what he brings to the table and he could back it up offensively. That they have to pay attention to that.
David Drunken
Boots on the ground in Edmonton right now is David Pinotta of the fourth period. David, thank you for joining us.
Chris Cody
Appreciate you guys. Thank you.

All right, it's time to provide our analysis of game one and to provide a preview of game two of the Stanley cup final between the Panthers and the Oilers. And to do that, we are going to turn to Rosie who's going to provide her analysis in Spanish. It is time for Rosa and un monito. And that is not how you.
Roy Bellamy
Close enough, close enough, close enough.
David Drunken
That's not how you say nuto.
Roy Bellamy
Roso timer starts on your first.
Rosie
Panthers. His name? I don't know.
Roy Bellamy
30 seconds.
Rosie
And over time the Connor McDavid, Edmonton Quatro, Florida Tres and Elarco Bobrowski, Skinner.
Roy Bellamy
10 seconds.
Rosie
Flash stats. Edmonton quarantine face off.
David Drunken
All right.
Ethan
I like that. You got the goalie saves in the as the first stat though. That was good. Thorns came out of rose on that one.
David Drunken
Is that it? That's it. Very good. All right. Very good.
Roy Bellamy
Unbelievable.
Ethan
I gotta. I told you I got the dole. I heard Jake Walman's name in there.
Roy Bellamy
I'm scared of whatever. I'm scared of whatever you said to me when you got mad at me for calling time because I know you said really bad.
Rosie
Oh, yeah, you should be afraid of what I said.
Ethan
Oh, my God.
David Drunken
All right, it is time for Rosie to translate all that in English. It is called Rose in a minute. Go ahead.
Rosie
Rosie again.
David Drunken
Yes, in English, please go and play the music.
Rosie
Okay, let's go. What's up, everybody? Welcome to one minute with Hawkey with Rose where I break down everything that happened this week in NHL in English. And faster than a line change. This week the Stanley cup kicked off with Florida Panthers at the Edmonton Oilers. And it was a non stop action from every minute. How it started.
David Drunken
Boom.
Rosie
London Starlie scored Edmonton just in 1:6 into the first period assisted by Kapin and Jack Walman. The Panthers defense didn't even break a sweat yet. Okay, but Florida fireback with two goals from Sam Ben and our power play from Bart Manchand took the lead 3 1. Edmondson said not so fast. They tied it with a goal. Victor Atverstone, Matthias Ekalom. And in overtime, Estralla did it again. Clutch power play to win it. As is said by who else that McDavid. Final score, Edmonton 4, Florida 3. In goal, Bobrovsky 42 saves. Skinner 29. Shots. Quick stats. Shots. Edmonton 46, Florida 32 hits 41 each. Brutal face off. Florida dominated with 56% giveaways. Order 16 Panthers 14, Jags. Game two is tonight. This series is already fired. This was one minute with Rose, your weekly dose of POC passion and the right amount of chaos.
David Drunken
All right, Drockey, you have a rant coming up here. This is drawkey sounds off as we got some. An evolution of Stanley cup logos. All right, this is the patches that they put on the front of each of the finalists jerseys that they use for the Stanley cup final. And you have something to say about this? Dave, take it away.
Ethan
See? No me gusta. Wait, my bad.
David Drunken
Translation.
Ethan
Sorry about that. I got a little wrapped up with Rose. No, I don't like it. Like, if you want to put their graphic back up there, that would be awesome. But like, if you can see on the top left there that you got these beautiful circular logos that the sunburst thing behind it, they looked explosive. They looked dramatic. And as you get towards the bottom in the middle and the down, it's like, what? It's just the cup, it looks like they're created by AI. They're like cartoonish. I feel like it's been a huge downward spiral from these beautiful Stanley cup logos that would be on jersey patches, they'd be on the ice. And now we get this like computerized basura. No me gusta. I don't like it. I don't like it at all. I think the NHL needs. I think the NHL needs to go back in the opposite direction, get back to the historical side. I mean, they've got the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley cup final, for crying out loud. But no, I don't like it at all. And when I got to see them side by side like that, it really kind of got my blood boiling a little bit.
David Drunken
Well, two things about this, it's almost similar to what the National Football League has done to their super bowl and the World Series.
Roy Bellamy
Don't forget the World Series logos.
David Drunken
Yeah, I don't like that. They need to go back to what they did in 1996.
Ethan
It's like a universal. Not liking this.
David Drunken
Well, no, I disagree with one thing. The current patch that they are using is clean. It is. It's really. I agree with these beautiful. The only problem I have with it, however, is they're putting on the same side as the captain designation because they have the sponsorship.
Ethan
So you like this new Stanley cup logos?
David Drunken
I like the. I like the current Stanley cup logo. It doesn't have Stanley cup final on the bottom. It's just a patch.
Ethan
Maybe if I shield. If I didn't have to see it side by side with the other older awesome ones. Like, I guess I kind of get like the ones from, like 2012, 2012, 2014. Those look like a cartoon. I didn't like that at all. Yeah, but. Yeah, I agree with you on the. On the wrong side, but I mean, you know, the. All the dollar, the almighty dollar. Got to get those. Those jersey ads on there.
David Drunken
Yeah, that's. That's really unfortunate. It doesn't look right next to no.
Ethan
A or the C. Push together and crumpled and, you know, like a hoarder issue on the jersey. I just. No, I don't like it.
David Drunken
Yeah. Ethan, you have something on Jim Hiller.
Roy Bellamy
It's his fault, okay, that we're in this situation.
Ethan
Jim Hiller is the coach of the Los Angeles Kings, by the way.
Roy Bellamy
It's his fault.
Ethan
The teams that have been out there.
Roy Bellamy
Game 3, which gave the Oilers life, since then, they're 13 and 2 in the playoffs. How much more relaxed would you guys be if the Panthers didn't have to play the Edmonton Oilers? But now it's the revenge story. It's all the consistencies we were talking about earlier with Crosby and McDonald and Gretzky and McDavid. And it's all these demons, and we're sitting here stressing like crazy because it's the Oilers. Imagine if we just had to play deep.
David Drunken
Pete DeBoer, he's talking for himself and.
Roy Bellamy
The Dallas Stars, or if it was.
Ethan
The Golden Knights, one of the other teams would have. They wouldn't have backed into the final and we'd be like, I'm not saying play.
Roy Bellamy
We would have played the Kings, but we would have played somebody that isn't the Oilers, that hasn't wanted us all year. It would just be so much more relaxed. But now instead, here I am, Panthers are down one nothing. And I'm freaking out because that game, the Panthers had a 31 lead, and it didn't last very long. So it's really hard to say that the Panthers like really blew a 31 lead because the Oilers came right back and made it three two a minute and a half later. But, but okay, Indiana blue or excuse me, OKC blue. Game one. The Panthers didn't necessarily blow game one of the finals.
Ethan
I thought it was more of a bleeding out. I thought that broke cut but it.
Roy Bellamy
You know, they still, the Oilers came back and took that game as well. Like the pan Panthers were doing the, the thing. They were kind of had them in shutdown city early in that third period and then the Oilers just really took. By the way, buy yourself shut down city shirts.
David Drunken
Yeah, you wore that last week by the way. Yeah, it's a beauty.
Roy Bellamy
It's a beautiful shirt Buyer shut down city shirts. Levitard af.com please. Anyway, the point being the Panthers kind of had the Oilers in shut down city and then all of a sudden Ekholm scores. And it just never felt like the Panthers were going to be the next team to score. And after Ekholm scored, it felt like the next team to score was going to win. And it took everything Edmonton had. I mean if you're a Panther fan, I understand it was a crushing loss. But also at the same time you look at it and you're like Edmonton played about a perfect hockey game and the Panthers played a good hockey game, not a great hockey game. And it took them basically double overtime. Right. They scored with what, 45 seconds left in the first overtime. It took them everything just to win a one goal game in overtime. And it was a great play by McDavid and Draisaitl. So I understand it's a pressure situation. You're down one nothing, you've got another game on the road before you come back home. But this is going to be a long series. I think you watch that game and you say that was an incredible hockey game. These there. The margins are so fine. The margin was a no sick penalty. That was very uncharacteristic for the Florida Panthers. I think we're in for a long series. I think we're in for a great series. And if you're a Panthers fan, I don't really think there's a lot of reason to panic.
Rosie
Vamos pumas.
Ethan
Go Panthers.
David Drunken
I believe they call it vamos gatos over there in sunrise.
Rosie
Yeah, but we already talked about this and if you want to ask me why I say pumas, I can give you a whole thing about the Aztecs, but not right now.
Roy Bellamy
Wouldn't it really be the Panthers is. Wouldn't it be vamos pantadas sumas tenderly panthers.
Rosie
Technically. No, I'm not gonna do it. Because I want to hear it.
Roy Bellamy
We're all getting Spanish lessons today, right?
Rosie
Technically, the panthers is just the black panther. Here you say the Florida Panthers, but when you translate and you put in Google Florida panther, of course you're gonna. It's gonna appear a puma. But if you put a puma, it's the same as the Florida panther, because for us in Spanish, Pantera is just a black one.
Ethan
Okay, just for the record. Panther, puma, mountain lion, catamount. They all are cougars. No, they're all cougars. They're all under the cougar umbrella.
Rosie
But I'm gonna put. Actually, I'm gonna find.
Ethan
How do you say cougar in espanol?
Roy Bellamy
But what about tigers and lions? What are.
Chris Cody
What.
Roy Bellamy
What family are lions and tigers under? Cheetahs. Because those are all cats.
David Drunken
Yeah. Panther is a cat. Correct.
Rosie
So we got to. You're good. Next time I do my one minute, it's just gonna be in Spanish, so you better learn Spanish.
David Drunken
No.
Rosie
Yeah, that's.
Roy Bellamy
Yes.
Ethan
I think it should be doing them every week. We're gonna have to learn something. Yeah, maybe just see how much we learn if you keep doing it.
David Drunken
Game two is tonight.
Ethan
Casa Tiki.
David Drunken
You can join us at the Dead Flamingo, formerly known as Casatika Casatiki. And you can watch the game with us there, or you can watch it online with us as we follow along. Game 2. The jokes here for a second and.

Put on my serious voice because. Because I would never, ever joke about a 5G network that has invested billions building 5G towers across the country. Not even once. Not even if Mr. Boost Mobile himself asked me to. There is nothing funny about it. Boost Mobile is now a legit nationwide 5G network and also provides coverage across 99% of America. Seriously?
