Silver may still shine bright, but gold is definitely better. This is the Hockey Show. That's David Troika, the Hockey News. We got Rose and Ethan in the shipping container. My name is Roy Bellamy. You can check us out on our YouTube page, the Hockey Show DLS on TikTok. The Hockey Show 7 Instagram threads. Hockey Show DLS. This Sunday, the Hockey show will be doing a live stream of the Olympic men's ice hockey gold medal game. We will start at 8. Around 8. 10 is puck drop. That's going to be eastern time. And you can find us on the Levitard YouTube page at Levitard Show. It will be the four of us. And maybe some surprises that I will have no control over. So check that out. That's on Sunday during the gold medal game. And the last time we did a live stream was at the Dead Flamingo. That was for game two of the Stanley cup final. And that one, Rose almost. Her head almost exploded.
Dave
Yeah, well, I don't think this one's going double over time.
Ethan
I think all of our heads almost exploded during that.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah. That was not. That was not a good feeling last second.
Rosie
This one is going to explode if it's Finland, but just because of Barky. But Barki is not there, so it might not expose that much. But if Finland wins. Wow.
Adnan Burke
Yeah.
Roy Bellamy
You won't have to worry about that.
Dave
Yeah.
Mike Ryan
Yeah.
Ethan
I just remember people in the comments being like, ethan, stop freaking out. And I'm like, you watched a live stream with me watching a Panther game in the Stanley cup final. Well, I don't know what else he expected so if. If the US Is in the final, it might be similar. Probably not the same levels because I don't have quite the same investment as the Florida Panthers. But, man, I'm going to be nervous if the US Is in that final.
Roy Bellamy
For sure. Early in the morning, man. Too early in the morning. I know it's Italy, but it's very
Ethan
early in the morning.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah.
Ethan
8:00 o' clock starts. But if the US is in the final, I'll be having. I'll be having beers at my favorite local watering hole.
Dave
So.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah.
Ethan
Play that again with me.
Roy Bellamy
Play again. No, see, that's going to be me waking up in the morning and like 6:30, 7 o'. Clock.
Dave
You're the first one awake. Always.
Roy Bellamy
I am a thought. I'm a dad. I can't sleep past 8 o' clock now. I got to wake up earlier than that just to do this live stream. I'm going to be very happy doing it because it's a live stream. But still.
Ethan
Did you just say you're a thought?
Roy Bellamy
No, no.
Ethan
T H O T. Father.
Roy Bellamy
I was gonna say father, but I decided to go with dad in that situation. But yes, I'm a dad and this child is waking me up early. So, I mean, you know about that, Dave.
Dave
A little bit.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah.
Dave
So is Claire gonna be watching the game?
Roy Bellamy
No, I. I don't. Well, she might barge in. Actually, think of it.
Dave
That could be a surprise guest.
Roy Bellamy
Okay, I'll.
Dave
I'll torture everybody and just put our kids on there and let them talk to each other for a minute.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah. No. Oh, Jesus. Yeah, that. That'll bring the viewers. Yeah. Talent, Claire. Everybody's a talent.
Adnan Burke
Clear.
Roy Bellamy
The American women defeated the Canadian ladies 21 in overtime yesterday. Christian O' Neill started the scoring for Canada, but in the lateness of regulation. I'm talking about what, two minutes left.
Dave
Goalie on the bench.
Roy Bellamy
Yep. Six women out there. Hillary Knight deflected a. A Layla Edwards shot from the blue line. That tied the game. And so cool. Yeah. And Megan Keller, I mean, that talent, that Taylor Hisy. Thank you.
Dave
Thank you.
Ethan
We cannot let this Taylor Heisey pass get lost in the moment. That pass was incredible.
Roy Bellamy
That doesn't happen, by the way, if it was five on five.
Dave
Nope. Yep.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah. So over time, Megan Keller ended up making a spectacular move. I mean, this is reminiscent of. Of game two of the cup final.
Ethan
Looked exactly like that game.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah. And she scored on her backhand and it was a golden goal. And the United States won the third
Dave
gold, the one that we were there to see. I think in game five is what it reminded me most of. Yeah, when Marchand did that, it was almost like the same dangle through the. He didn't make the same move. He didn't go between the arm. He went the long way. But I mean the biggest games, biggest players show up and score the biggest goals. And Hillary Knight tying the game late. That ridiculous deflection. Oh, that was so exciting.
Ethan
Yes.
Dave
Sorry.
Roy Bellamy
I was going to say I was going to bring up some stats here as far as all time games. It's the eighth ice competition for the women. They started in 1998. The United States won that year. It's Cammy G. It's been only Canada and the United States who have won gold medals. It's five for Canada and three for the United States. Now everybody, you've all saw the game. How was your reactions? I mean I, I know what your reactions were to the goal. Why don't you go over your feelings?
Dave
I was in the newsroom at my day job. I was at channel 10. So I was. Couldn't really like get out and be as like fun and excited as usual. But like the. I did wake up the news for him a little bit.
Ethan
I woke up Percy. Percy and I were watching on the couch and Percy's in here somewhere and, and we were watching on the couch and I jumped up. When Hillary Knight scored and or celebrated woke Percy up. She went right back to her nap. She's been, she had been in the office all day. She's a tired girl, man. She's been in the office all week. She's working hard. She's doing a lot, you know. Newest employee of Metal Arc media. But then, then when the, the Megan Keller goal happened, I stood up as Megan Keller was on a breakaway and I jumped around and started screaming. It was amazing. I mean just. Rose that soundboard. How's he. That guy? It was, it was just amazing, Ryan. This team was. It would have been wrong for them not to win the gold medal. And looking back on it now, they were never not going to win. That team fought, they dug deep, they scored the goal that they needed with two minutes left. And once it got to overtime, Hillary Knight said once they scored the first one, the only thing she was thinking was we're going to win this game. And they knew they were going to win because they knew they were the better team. They've now beaten Canada eight times in a row. They're defending world champions and now the defending Olympic champions as well. They have cemented themselves as the dominant team in international women's hockey. And this gold medal seals that. And for right now, obviously, Canada all time is still the better, you know, the more dominant country. They're five to three in gold medals. But for right now, it's the USA's world and we're all living in it.
Roy Bellamy
I mean, goals allowed. So thank you.
Adnan Burke
And that.
Roy Bellamy
That's the man that you missed the most right there. That's us. And that's Alexander Barkov. Why don't you play that again? Play it again, Rosie. Play it again. Come on. Thank you.
Dave
Thank you, Rosie.
Roy Bellamy
Thank you.
Mike Ryan
Thank you.
Roy Bellamy
Thank you. All right, so as I was saying, how many goals during this tournament did the United States women draw?
Dave
I know the answer.
Roy Bellamy
What's that?
Dave
2.
Roy Bellamy
2 goals.
Dave
2 goals.
Roy Bellamy
2 goals.
Ethan
So 2 goals, 7 goals.
Rosie
What was the question?
Roy Bellamy
The question was how many goals did the United States women give up so far. So far in this tournament? And the answer was two.
Dave
One in the first game, one in the last game. That's it.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah.
Ethan
Five shutouts. And all three goalies contributed to that as well. It wasn't just Aaron Frankel. Aaron Frankel stopped 97 of 99 shots
Dave
that she faced in something about us Jewish goalies, man. I don't know. Something about us.
Roy Bellamy
You guys good?
Ethan
Yeah. Showing out for all of our members of the tribe. That was amazing.
Roy Bellamy
Aaron Frankel, she was incredible.
Dave
Potato pancake before the game does you good, man. I'm telling you. You see they're eating the applesauce already on the bench. You just need a little potato pancake.
Roy Bellamy
Go, go. Sweet squeeze. That's. Yeah, that's.
Dave
My wife got very excited when she saw the girls chugging applesauce on the bench.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, you need that quick energy, man. That quick sugar, that natural sugar, that fructose.
Adnan Burke
Yeah.
Dave
I was like, wait till you see them ripping. Was it packets of mustard and relish on the bench?
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, well, the mustard. Yeah.
Ethan
That's whatever it takes, man.
Roy Bellamy
They did. That was Germany, right? That was dry cider to had that. Yeah, yeah. He's no longer in.
Dave
I just want like a fruit rollup. Oh, like, what would your, like, go to? Bench energy snack be gushers. O you see, I like that. The explosive element.
Ethan
I love gushers.
Dave
What about you, Ethan? What would your. Your snack on the bench be if you needed something to jack up your.
Ethan
I was kind of thinking Gushers as well.
Dave
That's a. Yeah, that's a really good one.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah.
Ethan
Just loves that explode in his.
Dave
What, Random psychotic Mexican candy. Literally Guatemalan candy.
Rosie
Something like spicy or sour.
Dave
Something with what's like a mango. Tastes like fire.
Rosie
Yeah, yeah. Sour or. Or spicy like. Yeah. Mangoes with chili already there.
Dave
Rose would find, like, edible smelling salts, and that would be her thing.
Roy Bellamy
Oh, gosh.
Rosie
I don't know. But delicious. I did. This guy didn't like my candy.
Roy Bellamy
No. He almost choked.
Dave
I wasn't prepared.
Roy Bellamy
You didn't know how to take it.
Dave
I even told you.
Ethan
I forgot about that.
Roy Bellamy
God, I even told you how that.
Adnan Burke
Yes, Yes.
Dave
I mean, are we done?
Roy Bellamy
Yes, we are done. Let's move on to. Let's move on to. On the injury front, as we are speaking right now. There are Olympic games going on right now. It's Canada and Finland. Finland, as we speak, is leading 2 to 1. And obviously that won't be the case once you guys listen and watch this show. In fact, there was. Because Sam Reinhardt's the 13th forward. There was a point where Reinhardt, Sam Bennett and Brant Marshan were on the same line. In fact, it was at that point where Sam Bennett ran UC Sorrels. So that was. That was really funny, actually.
Dave
That's Bennett doing Bennett things, right?
Roy Bellamy
Yeah.
Ethan
By the way, Sam Reinhart, he got elbow. By the way, by two, one Finland.
Roy Bellamy
Yes. Oh, so. So Sam Reinhardt scored the goal to
Ethan
make it to one Finland. Yeah, he deflected the shot from the point from Kale McCarthy for the. For the goal.
Roy Bellamy
I'm going to update my little stat package because that's the only thing we could talk about right now is how the Panthers are doing. But we'll get to that in a second.
Dave
A little bit more that we'll get into, I think. Yeah, a little bit of Panthers hockey. They're going to be back on the ice. We're going to get to that.
Roy Bellamy
Yes, absolutely. The big story, though, was Sidney Crosby because he got hurt. Yes. I'm bringing up Cindy Crosby. Oh, he got hurt because he got hurt. Yeah, he got hurt versus the checks. He got hit three times in one shift, basically. And Racco Guta's old friend put a number on him. I guess he ended up getting sandwiched in one instance, and then that's when he ended up going to the bench and he left that game early.
Dave
You know who to blame for that?
Roy Bellamy
And who's that?
Dave
The. The ice makers in Italy for making such small, compact ice. Everybody's on top of each other. It's a physical game. We're loving it. But poor Sidney Crosby.
Adnan Burke
Thank you.
Dave
He got sandwiched with a Radko Budis in the boards and God, Knows who else? And we know Radko Budis. His beard is made of concrete.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, yeah. Teflon. Not Teflon.
Dave
Like Doomsday from Superman.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, yeah. So Crosby skated this morning. He tried it out in a private session. Did not go well. I mean, it didn't work for them. I'm sure that holding. I mean, it was a risk as a score.
Dave
Right now it's a do or die game. So you think if he was good to go, he'd be good to go?
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, they tried custom. They tried to find custom braces for him, but it didn't work.
Dave
Like, braces for his legs. Like a little forest.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah. Just rolled under his socks. And it was a no go for him, so they ended up scratching him. That report, by the way, was according to Elliot Friedman. Emily Kaplan said it's not the worst case scenario. So that led me to believe that Canada is holding out Sidney Crosby for the whole. For the gold medal game. But again, as we speak, it's 2:1 Finland.
Ethan
And I don't know, I think if Sidney Crosby could play, he would be playing right now. Especially considering John Cooper in the locker room before overtime. His speech was basically, don't let this be Sidney Crosby's last Olympic games, which. Come on, guys. Like, it's enough with the Sidney Crosby thing. Like, do it for yourself. You don't have to do it for Sidney Cross. Like, it doesn't have to be their la. Like, don't.
Dave
That's what you have a problem with
Ethan
John Cooper leaning into that. I have a lot of problems with John Cooper as well. Let's talk about. We can.
Dave
Well, no, but hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. You can get up to John Cooper,
Ethan
but real quick, real quick.
Dave
Wait, wait, wait.
Ethan
About Sidney Crosby. Does everything have to be about Sydney Cross?
Dave
No, it does not sound like specifically.
Ethan
I'm saying you're right.
Dave
John Cooper rallying his team before overtime. That their injured captain does not want to go out a loser. Of all the things to complain about, that one strikes me as a little odd, I guess. The Crosby derangement syndrome. I'm with you on that one.
Roy Bellamy
Oh, no, it's just.
Ethan
It's just like. Like when you see. Yeah. When you put it like, our captain. Don't let this be our captain's last game.
Dave
That's like the one redeemable thing that has happened.
Ethan
Sidney Crosby. It's like, oh, like, we're gonna make this about. We're gonna make this about Sidney Crosby. We make everything about.
Dave
It's the most predictable thing they could have done though.
Ethan
Crosby,
Roy Bellamy
low CDS for you. All right, so for a second here. Sorry, so ridiculous. I take that word away. Take the shut up part away. All right, so beyond, beyond the Olympics. I'm sure the Pittsburgh Penguins are not happy right now because as the standings look the second in the metro.
Rosie
Yeah.
Dave
Yep.
Roy Bellamy
But they'll point up no point ahead of the Islanders. They have the same amount of points as Buffalo in the wild card. They'll point ahead of Boston in the second wild card.
Dave
So not exactly comfortable in that playoff race.
Ethan
No, I forgot the initial existed.
Roy Bellamy
It's been a couple of weeks.
Dave
Bringing it back, reeling it in, boys.
Roy Bellamy
Back next week, everybody. But it's not, I mean, pit the Penguins right now. They are in the middle of a playoff chase and then the captain basically goes down. So again, Emily Kaplan said it's not a worst case scenario for Canada. But what about Pittsburgh?
Dave
If I'm Pittsburgh and I hear it's not worst case scenario, I'm like loving that because that means that tells me hopefully if he's even in consideration to possibly play in any of Canada's remaining games, that would mean that when he gets back for NHL, at least he'll be close. You would think if he can possibly play for Canada, okay, he can probably play maybe a week or whatever it might be. I have no idea. But if it was worst case, like this is a team in Pittsburgh, that was it. They have points in 11 of 12 going into the break or something like that. Like they were hot. So this could be a huge thing for them. If it's anything long term for Crosby
Ethan
to go continue the Crosby derangement syndrome. The jokes that were flying afterwards were, oh, NHL players are never going back to the Olympics now that Sidney Crosby has gotten hurt in the Olympics. But yeah, I mean, this is what happens in a tournament like this. Like Matthew Tkachuk got hurt at the Four nations last year and the Panthers. Luckily he was able to return for the playoffs. However hurt he may have been. He was fantastic in the playoffs. They're tied as their top scorer, helped them win a second straight Stanley Cup. But you know what you're getting into with these games and the players. They asked for this. This is what they wanted. This is their thing in the cba. This better be in there and they're not going to get rid of it anytime soon.
Roy Bellamy
Are you saying that the team should be compensated if they get injured and
Ethan
you know, necessarily saying they should be compensated, but this is the deal, like, they know what they're getting into. And this is why owners didn't want their players going to the Olympics because it might affect their chances coming back from the Olympics. But the players have made their stance on this. Their stance is, we're playing in the Olympics. You're not going to stop us, and this is going to happen. Sometimes it just so happens that it happened to be Sidney Crosby.
Dave
And to your point, nobody batted an eye even after what happened to Matthew Tkachuk, even after, you know, he didn't play for the Panthers till the playoffs. Nobody was bitching about Four nations at all.
Ethan
Well, you should talk to Mike Fuentes because he still is mad at Four Nations.
Dave
Nobody in the hockey, no disrespect to Fuentes, but nobody in the hockey sphere.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, well, I said, I said this going into Four Nations. I said this before, probably a couple of weeks before Four nations, that all these general managers are going to be worried about injuries because they are not going to half ass this. It's an international competition. I said that about also. And now the Olympics is even ratcheted up tenfold.
Ethan
I was going to say, let's be clear, like, as great as Four nations was, it was an awesome tournament. I had a great time. The whole thing was a great spectacle to kind of set up the Olympics shot.
Dave
You didn't say the name.
Ethan
The Olympics are. The Olympics are that much more important and they're so intrabell. The Olympics are that much more important central. And they're not going to ever, like, they're going to all the way out, balls to the wall. And they're not going to be stopped from playing in the Olympics if they have the opportunity.
Dave
I just think it's a funny double standard if that, if it is, in fact how it plays out that, you know, Matthew Tkachuk gets hurt, misses a chunk, a big chunk of the season, whatever. Sidney Crosby gets hurt, maybe misses a game. And it's a much bigger conversation.
Roy Bellamy
Let's go with the hockey stat of the week. Rosie, can you find the actual sound instead of whatever it is that you're doing?
Dave
Oh, there we go.
Adnan Burke
Rosie's on the ball.
Roy Bellamy
I can't believe it.
Dave
I'm enjoying Rose kind of driving these random sounds.
Ethan
Hey, guys.
Dave
Hi.
Ethan
Hi.
Roy Bellamy
I was just talking to you, like a couple seconds ago.
Dave
I kind of hate myself with how much I've embraced this, this greeting element of the week.
Roy Bellamy
I'm not.
Dave
No.
Ethan
Kayla Schiff.
Dave
It's like annoyingly, like, welcoming Mikaela Shifrin.
Ethan
We all know Mikaela Shiffrin, right?
Roy Bellamy
Yeah.
Ethan
All Time. Greatest skier.
Rosie
Tell me who she is.
Ethan
She's the greatest skier of all time, at least on the female side.
Roy Bellamy
What does that have to do with hockey?
Ethan
She had been shut out. She was over her last eight at the Olympic Games. It's just. It's the hockey stat of the week.
Roy Bellamy
Okay. Was it.
Ethan
Michaela Shifford had been shut out for her last eight Olympic races until she won the slalom. Finally, she won gold, cementing herself as the greatest skier of all time. That was a great race.
Roy Bellamy
Is there a transition?
Ethan
No, there's not. The hockey stat of the week is that Chiffrin won the slalom by 1.50 seconds. It was the largest margin of victory in 28 years in a skiing race at the Olympics. If you add up the winning margins of the winners at the 1998-2002-2006-2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 women's slalom, you get 1.51 seconds. So her margin of victory was bigger. Almost as big as the margin of victory combined from every Olympics since Nagano in 98.
Roy Bellamy
Did you not have a stat that was hockey related? You just decided.
Ethan
I don't know what you want me to tell you. Dude, that's the hockey stat of the week. I could have had a hockey. I could have had the hockey stat. My other hockey stat could have been Rose. Hillary Knight became the all time leading scorer for the United States by scoring her 15th goal and her 31st point with that deflected goal.
Roy Bellamy
That guy.
Ethan
But instead, I wanted to celebrate Mikaela Shifrin. So, Michaela Shiffrin, you are the recipient of the hockey stat of the week.
Roy Bellamy
It's not hockey. It's not.
Ethan
It's the hockey stat of the week, Roy. I don't know what you want me to tell you.
Roy Bellamy
Hockey. There is no skate. There's no skates.
Ethan
There's definitely some kind of skating.
Roy Bellamy
I mean sliding. I mean, there is no stick.
Ethan
Skating slide.
Dave
No, they have sticks.
Ethan
Roy, you asked for the hockey stat of the week and you got the hockey stat of the week. You got. You didn't get a hockey stat of the week. You got the hockey stat of the week. You asked for the hockey stat of the week. I gave you to the hockey stat of the week. Michaela Shiffrin, 1.50 seconds.
Dave
I mean, this is his thing. So you know. Yeah, you gave Ethan the stat of the week, so you got to let him stat it up.
Ethan
He got the hockey stat of the week.
Roy Bellamy
All right. That's your thing. Thank you. Thank you. That's the correct sound. Thank you. All right, it's time for wins and fails. Dave, what did you win?
Dave
My God, Rose. Right now. Rose is killing it.
Roy Bellamy
The win this week.
Ethan
She's figuring it out.
Mike Ryan
She's figuring it out.
Ethan
All right.
Dave
ESPN put out a poll last week ranking every single sport that you can play on its degree of difficulty. It ranked 60 different sports coming in last or easiest. Can you guess, Roy?
Roy Bellamy
No, I don't even want to. Go ahead.
Dave
Ethan, what do you think was the easiest sport?
Ethan
Is it in the Olympics, Summer or winter?
Dave
No, I don't think so.
Ethan
Baseball?
Roy Bellamy
No.
Dave
No. You're thinking sitting on your ass and
Ethan
doing very little E. Gaming.
Roy Bellamy
Racing.
Dave
Good. Good guess, but no. Outdoors. Sitting on your ass and doing very little outdoors.
Ethan
Fishing.
Dave
There you go.
Roy Bellamy
Fishing.
Dave
Fishing came in dead last. Followed by billiards, shooting and bowling. And curling. Fifth. Fifth. Easiest.
Ethan
Curling is not easy. Yeah, it's not easy. Curling is extremely difficult.
Dave
I disagree.
Adnan Burke
Show some respect to curling, but.
Dave
All right. So the number one hardest sport was boxing, which I totally can get. Number two. Number two, ice hockey, which is.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, the hockey component, which is something that you failed.
Ethan
You asked for the hockey stat of the week. I gave you the hockey.
Dave
Rounding out the top five, football, basketball, and wrestling. Volleyball looks to be Danny in the back 16th. But, Roy, I think you can attest to somebody who went to school for hockey and learned how to play hockey over the course of a year or so how difficult that game is to play.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, it's very difficult. First of all, you need to learn how to skate. That's the basic element of ice hockey. And then you have to learn how to do things while skating. So that's the other basic element. I'm not even talking about goaltending. And that's a whole different element to the. To that sport. And you absolutely know about that.
Dave
Especially now. Yeah, it's a lot harder now than it used to be.
Roy Bellamy
Especially now. My win goes to Layla Edwards again, and this is the completion of her journey in the Olympics. Disco around. It was Layla Edwards initial shot from the blue line. As I said earlier, that was deflected by Hillary Knight. That tied the game with a little over a minute left in regulation in the gold medal game. She finishes the tournament with two goals and six assists for eight points and becomes the first black American to win gold in ice hockey. So right now she has to worry about the pwhl. That is her next phase as she exits Wisconsin. So good for her. Good for you, Layla. And congratulations on your gold medal, Ethan.
Ethan
Guys, My win of the week. I have loved these Olympic Games as I always love the Olympic Games. I want to celebrate a couple of the stars of the Games. First of all, Michaela Shiffrin, who we just talked about again. She had been over her last eight at the Olympic Games until she won that slalom race. Turned it all around, came back kind of a. A fantastic redemption shifra after a really tough Olympic Games in Beijing. And then the other one I want to celebrate as well. Last night, within an hour of each other, actually, of. Of the women winning gold. Alyssa Liu won gold in figure skating. She became the first American to win
Dave
gold figure skating since 2002. We're. We're in a ring, we're on skates, and we're in a rink.
Ethan
She became the first US Woman to win gold in the Olympics.
Adnan Burke
What a performance.
Ethan
2002.
Dave
Watching that one.
Ethan
To win a medal since Torino in 06. She's fantastic skating to Donna Summer. And she just brings joy back to figure skating in a way that I haven't seen in a long time.
Dave
Her.
Ethan
And it's a Bolivito. And Amber Glenn as well. The three Blade Angels for the Americans
Dave
believe Amber Glenn almost.
Ethan
I know she almost did it. She was fantastic.
Roy Bellamy
But Bladed angels, That's what they call.
Ethan
They call them the Blade Angels. Yep. The three of them. Isabel Levito, Amber Glenn, and Alyssa Lou. So shout out to them. Shout out to all the athletes competing in Milan. The US Is on pace for one of their best finishes at a Winter Olympics ever. And it's been fantastic.
Dave
What's been really cool about Alyssa Liu, real quick, while we're on the subject, I apologize. Roy, sorry to me for watching her story. Ethan, like, amazing. Quitting at 16, retiring at 16.
Ethan
Retired after the Olympics.
Dave
Just saying, you know what? This seems like fun. I want to try it again. And literally zero pressure. She says, I just want to share my art with the world. Like, I was so inspired just listening to her story.
Ethan
She's incredible.
Dave
She's like a hero right now. Somebody that could go into something that crazy. I'm getting there, Rose.
Ethan
And that that hairstyle is going to
Roy Bellamy
go all on super viral.
Ethan
That's going to be the most popular hairstyle around the United.
Dave
I don't like the nose ring on her teeth. Like, I don't know what the hell that is, but it's cool.
Ethan
She is fantastic.
Roy Bellamy
All right, Rosie, take that lollipop out of your mouth and give us your win. That's a good question. That was not a question. That was a command.
Rosie
My Win of the week goes to two Mexicans. There's going to be a new movie called accientes porciente. There's a. There's a photo there.
Mike Ryan
Oh, look.
Roy Bellamy
This is not hockey.
Dave
Socias por accidente.
Roy Bellamy
Accidentally social.
Rosie
No, socia sport Accident.
Roy Bellamy
Translate that.
Rosie
They are partners.
Roy Bellamy
Translate the title.
Rosie
Yeah, that's what I'm trying to do. They are business partners by accident.
Roy Bellamy
Business partners by accident. That's the translation.
Rosie
Yeah, but it's the translation. Translation, translation.
Dave
So it's like trading Spaces. Yeah.
Rosie
I don't know.
Roy Bellamy
How do you say sociable, social society.
Dave
They say trading spaces.
Ethan
You're the only places.
Roy Bellamy
How's it. I don't get this.
Dave
No, we don't get that show because we don't speak the language.
Roy Bellamy
This is the hockey show.
Dave
Yo no compriendo.
Ethan
Rose is so satisfied with herself.
Roy Bellamy
All right, let's go to fails. And that might be my fail, but whatever. Dave, what's your fail?
Dave
My fail. Going north of the border the other day, Mitch Marner scored a huge goal for team Canada in the quarterfinals. The overtime goal against Chechnya. Gorgeous backhand, all that. Canada rejoiced after they were losing. A couple tweets had me laughing. The first one came from Florida Panthers goaltending legend Roberto Luongo, who also did a little gold medal winning with Team Canada. Marner was born to wear that maple leaf on his chest, says Roberto Luando.
Adnan Burke
You know what?
Roy Bellamy
I.
Ethan
He knows exactly what he's doing.
Dave
I feel like he might have worn the maple leaf on his chest once or twice before.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, a red maple leaf. Not. Not.
Dave
So that was trolling job number one. Trolling job number two. Mark Stone, Mitch Marner's teammate for Team Canada. He was being interviewed after the game, and he said, as a teammate, I haven't experienced Mitch Marner not coming up big. Four nations got a huge overtime goal, Made a huge play for the winner. Then tonight, when we need him the most, he makes the play. So I think that's a Toronto thing.
Roy Bellamy
Oh, boy.
Ethan
Brad Marchand would be so proud of these, right?
Unknown Advertiser
Yeah.
Dave
Brad Marchand was standing up to the
Ethan
side of the locker room.
Roy Bellamy
He's saving it for after. After the gold medal game or bronze medal game, depending on what happens today. My fail of the week comes after the United States won gold. As everybody was waiting around mil and about and the United States was celebrating, they played the song Happy by Pharrell. It was over. It was over. The loudspeaker in the arena. So as Happy was playing, the broadcast switched to a shot of the very, very sad Canadian women who were looking downtrodden and disgusted and very depressed. So that is my fail of the week. It was damn funny though, Ethan.
Ethan
I was really close to not having a fail of the week because I only want to celebrate our Olympians this week. But then Team Canada did the work for me and tweeted this image. Silver sign shines just as bright. Guys, I'm pretty sure that is factually incorrect. And of course, everybody knows gold is better than silver. You don't win silver, you lose gold. Canada lost gold today.
Roy Bellamy
Rosie, what's your fail?
Rosie
My fail of the week. I don't have a fail of the week. But you.
Roy Bellamy
Searching for sound.
Dave
Are we done? I think so.
Ethan
Almost.
Roy Bellamy
We are almost done.
Ethan
There's a week.
Rosie
I wish I had a felt a week. But actually, my fellow week.
Mike Ryan
You know what?
Rosie
I'm a little bit tired.
Roy Bellamy
You fellow. The weakest. You're exhausted. Yeah. All right, let me promote. Let me, let me promote our next guest because she's too tired to do anything other than search for sound. That doesn't make any sense during the show. For those of you who are watching on DraftKings Network, please channel as she continues to play sounds because coming up next we have Adnan Burke. You don't get this show from prime Monday night hockey. We're gonna get the Canadian perspective of what's happening in the women. And we are not going to talk about the men because games are currently playing. Stop playing sounds because I'm saying that Adnan Burke is coming up next.
Adnan Burke
We have to rap.
Roy Bellamy
I just did.
Unknown Advertiser
Folks, listen up. You know how some dogs have full government names? That's my dog, Samantha Bennett.
Dave
Two names.

Mike Ryan
hey everybody, it's Mike Ryan. Now, if you've been following the show, you know I've been traveling, been super busy, been supporting my favorite football team with mixed results, right? Not the greatest hang so far in 2026. I try to find every excuse in the book. I had one buddy that was trying to invite me out. I wanted to stay in. He's like, come on, let's watch this NBA game. So I go over to his house, I watch this NBA game, and guess what? Something amazing happened. He pulled out the Miller Lights, and I knew right away I made the right call. Next thing you know, we're toasting, we're celebrating, we're having a great time. We're talking about nostalgia, we're talking about old friends that we had. It is time for our muffin. We check in with Adnan Burke of Prime Monday Night Hockey. And he has not had a single game for the past two weeks because the guys and the women decided to go over to Italy and play hockey there for international fame and gold and silver and that other medal. So, Adnan, you watched yesterday's game with the women. The gold medal between the United States and Canada. Obviously you were not rooting for the same team that we were rooting for because you are Canadian. As we mentioned earlier, it's only been the United States or Canada winning gold medals for the women. It's 1998 was the first Games. It's been eight instances. Canada has won five. The United States had won three. So as a Canadian. Not as a Canadian, as hockey. That's an actual hockey team. As a Canadian. When you saw Megyn Keller score on that Deke, what were your feelings?
Adnan Burke
I was incredibly frustrated and dismayed. And of course, I'm in enemy territory. I was at mlb, NHL Network, and Tony Loftman, one of our great hosts, was wearing his USA jersey. So when Canada was leading 1 nothing after 2 win for much of the game, I said, better take that jersey off. And then once, once Hillary Knight scored, I made sure I was cowering in my office, trying to drown out the noise of the cheers and exaltation. And I didn't have a good feeling about it. I said, this is not going to end the way we want it to, at least for me and my brethren. So, yeah, USA won. And I said, well, this was expected for somebody who has not been paying attention to hockey. Obviously, we're avid fans, but those who have not been paying attention, women's hockey USA has been the better team. They have been for a while. This is now eight straight, clearly candidates to reconfigure what they've been doing. The American women have been the bully and pushed them around in the round robin. It was a definitive win, which is why I was so pleasantly surprised, quite frankly. I knew we were vast underdogs going to the final. I thought maybe it could pull off an upset, maybe. And when it was one nothing, I was clinging to all hope. But America is the better team. They have been for a year plus. And I will say on a greater level, Roy, I do think it's frustrating for the women's game. That there's really only two great countries. Like, I think that at least in the men's, you know, you can see upsets, you can see potential surprises. And with the. What Slovakia has done so far, how great they've been, Finland giving Canada great test in the semi, etc. With the women's, it's either Canada or USA. And I don't think that's great for the women's game. I think it's great if you're an American hockey fan or Canadian hockey fan, but I don't think it's grown to really kind of grow the game because it's really just two teams that are great. Everybody else is okay.
Roy Bellamy
Wow, you actually do sound sad. Jesus. But he's also focused.
Ethan
Roy, let's be very clear. We're all kind of like, I love watching everybody right here. Like, your eyes are on the tv. I imagine Adnan's eyes are over his computer on the tv. My eyes are on the computer. Like, this is getting intense, Adnan. It's 2:1 in the second period, in the third period right now.
Adnan Burke
I mean, stress. Go ahead.
Roy Bellamy
You did mention the women and not seeing enough international. I mean, not seeing enough players internationally. But we do have the pwhl and it seems to be shining more of a light on players from other countries. I think there is a recent push now, now that the league is here now. So do you agree with me that there's now, in recent years, at least the past two years, that there's been more of a push for women's hockey?
Adnan Burke
Yeah, I think definitely the rise, the PWHA that there are, is an actual. I mean, the fact it even exists, Roy, is a good thing, right? To actually have professional women's hockey league is great, and it certainly is an improvement over years past. You know, obviously they've got a long way to go in terms of getting attention and media reach and money and all that kind of thing. But, yeah, I mean, listen, our friend Blake Bolden is a big part of our coverage on Amazon Prime. The fact that they've got a game every week is great news. I think they're looking to expand. They're looking to do more things. You know, we've seen the improvement of wnb. Obviously, they've got their own issues right now with regards to labor. But, yeah, I think it's helping women's hockey that the PWHL exists. I'm just saying, on an international level, there's only two teams that are great, USA and Canada. So it's. It's Kind of a criticism in some ways, the men's tournament, that the. It's like a glorified exhibition tournament, the round robin. And all of a sudden, in single elimination, if anything can happen, you know, one hot goal, Lucas Dostal stands on his head and that team can win. It doesn't mean that Canada or USA aren't great teams, but, like, in one game, that can happen. So kind of feels more like a coin flip. So my point is that in an international tournament on international hockey, in the men's game, you can point to different teams that are really good. In women's hockey, there's only two teams. I don't think that's great for the sport.
Dave
No, I know the. The Swedish women are kind of picking it up of late. And Chechnyans as well. I. I wanted to build on what you're talking about, Adnan. But there's something else I wanted to ask you about before we move on from women's hockey, and it kind of ties into our last conversation. When you were on the show, we were talking about heated rivalry. I don't know if you've heard, but there was a Canadian or not a Canadian, excuse me, a women's hockey power couple. One Canadian woman, one American woman. And that power couple may have called it quits before the gold medal game. Carolyn Harvey of the U.S. daryl Watts of Team Canada.
Roy Bellamy
Wow.
Dave
No longer a couple, apparently. This is all over Twitter. The rumors are all over the Internet. Excuse me. I believe started on Tick Tock made its way down. They're trying to confirm this would be fairly significant. Adnan, do we have a real life heated rivalry situation going on here?
Adnan Burke
It's amazing, David, just how much heated rivalry has taken a life of its own. I subscribe to Variety magazine, which gets me all my Hollywood gossip and stories and film reviews, etc.
Roy Bellamy
Oh, that rag.
Adnan Burke
Yeah, that rag. I gotta read the rags every week, right? I got Variety, I got the Hollywood Reporter, and there was a whole big write up on the heated rivalry and the success of this little plucky Canadian show and how it's been so successful despite the fact nobody thought it would be a success, and how only it could be made in Canada and the budget they had for it. Now people are spawning imitators. Now, what could be the next heat of rivalry? What kind of unparalleled success could it be? And all the changes they wanted to make, they didn't want it to be too graphic and all that kind of stuff. So listen, heated rivalry has taken on a life of its Own. I hope it's not impacting real life couples, but anytime you have a Canadian and American couple, I imagine they get along fairly well. Our countries are fairly similar. Just when it comes to hockey, there can always be a bit of a split, so hopefully cooler heads prevail.
Ethan
Adnan, help us understand just how much of a national crisis would go down if Canada does not win gold. Whether it be they lose, they bow out to finland here with 950 left still down 2:1. Or if they go on, come back, win and then get to the gold medal game and lose. Like, is it still a national crisis even if they get to the gold medal game and lose?
Adnan Burke
No, the bigger the crisis is, the worst the result. So if they lost in the quarters against checking, I'm like, oh my God. Like then I would have been like, thank God I don't live in Canada because for the next four years there would have been a hockey summit. What's wrong with getting a hockey? How can you prove this? And again, like one game, man, anything can happen. Like, could there be second guessing? Of course you could say, well, they should add Matthew Schaefer from the team. They should have Conor Bedard, should add some more offense. You can argue that point right now because it's a struggle to score goals against Finland. Finland should not beat Canada, right? Period. Canada's a better hockey team. The talent they have up and down this roster could have sent two Canadian teams. But it happens. That's why we love hockey, right? Could be a hot goalie, could be a team playing well. It could be a team playing poorly. You want to use the Sidney Crosby excuse.
Ethan
I wouldn't.
Adnan Burke
I mean he's a great player. He's had a good tournament with the all time great players. But he's 38 years of age. He's not Connor McDavid. They've got Nathan McKinnon, they got Macklin style, brain. There's enough horses to carry that. So I'm not going to use a Crosby. Excuse me. So honestly, it would be worse. The different way would be meaning if it's in the quarterfinals, it's like, oh my God, it's all we're going to hear for four years. Finland's pretty bad. If they lose in the semis of Finland, this is going to be, if not quite crisis. It's definitely going to be a cause for concern. And lots of articles written in these guys taking on the chin. If you lose in the gold medal game to America again, it's painful, but everyone knows that USA is a Great team. I mean, if you lose to Slovakia in the gold medal final, again, looking ahead, that would also be painful. So it's. It's varying shades, to be honest with you, but avoiding a quarterfinal loss to check it was at least a sigh of relief.
Roy Bellamy
We'll get to Sidney Crosby in a second because that's going to be a major issue for the Penguins after the Olympics. But how do you feel about the 3 on 3 overtime format? They're going with NHL rules on that situation, but with a full period. I honestly yesterday do not think that that goal happens for the United States if it was 5 on 5. So what say you?
Adnan Burke
I think it's ridiculous. And I mean, it's been very entertaining, I will say. But, Roy, I was shocked, like, when I watched the Kanacheki. Wait, we're doing three on three. Like, I, I was ready for like, settle in. This is going to be a classic, you know, NHL playoff overtimes. This could be triple overtime. Keith Primo, marathon man, Flyers, Penguins. The fact he was 3 3, and I'm like, oh, my God. And right away, you know, Marty Natures is a big opportunity. Bington's able to stop him. Like, man, one shot, one play. This thing could be over. So I think it's laughable, to be quite honest with you, that it could be so quickly done. But the good news is the Overtons have been quick because three on three are going to get a quick result as we see in the regular season. And we definitely saw that yesterday for USA and Canada.
Roy Bellamy
Well, keep in mind, that's not how TJ Oshi won the gold medal. I mean, he didn't win it 5 on 5 continuously won a shootout, but
Ethan
he also didn't win a gold medal.
Roy Bellamy
That was.
Dave
He won a shootout. Okay. He was TJ Sochi. Let's just chill.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah. All right.
Dave
Well, he should have won a gold medal.
Ethan
Okay, agreed. Except that Canada team was like the best team ever.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, yeah. But whatever, man. I don't want to even talk about Canada. Go ahead, Dave.
Dave
All right, Adnan, let's talk about Canada for a second. You mentioned, you mentioned somebody who's just been knocking my socks off this entire tournament, who I'm very excited to watch for the next 20 years. And that's Macklin Celebrini. Oh, no.
Roy Bellamy
Oh, there it is.
Dave
Speak to the. Did he. Who just scored? Canada just scored. That's why everybody's droning. And Adnan just.
Ethan
There it is.
Adnan Burke
Are Badowski and Roy being like, oh, Canada score. Like they're happy for Me. Or they're like, oh, Canada.
Ethan
Two, two. Shea. Theodore.
Adnan Burke
Thank God. Shea Theater coming through.
Dave
All right.
Ethan
With Marcand and Bennett on the ice. Look what happens, John Cooper, when you play the Florida Panthers.
Roy Bellamy
Good things, plus one.
Adnan Burke
There you go. See Ethan swings. A positive sense. By the way, David, before you wait,
Dave
is that going to get looked at? His marsh kind of rolled over his back.
Roy Bellamy
Are they going to review this?
Dave
Well, we're real time reacting to this, folks.
Roy Bellamy
Oh, my goodness.
Dave
And you know, like, they're way more sensitive about goalie interference and CRE stuff.
Roy Bellamy
Oh, no. He got pushed in. You got pushed in.
Dave
That they're going to look at it. Anyway, back on topic as we wait to see what happens here. Adnan, the floor is yours. Josh, about Macklin Celebrini, please.
Adnan Burke
But to say my. I was just about to relax and my heartbeat returned to normal. Now my heart's back in my throat while I have to wait for Badowski Roy to give me a replay update.
Ethan
I think you're good. I think you're good.
Adnan Burke
Thank God I gave a proper answer now.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah.
Adnan Burke
Celebrity has been amazing, David. It makes you laugh. Like, how is this even a conversation? Like, how is there even a chance that this guy wasn't going to be a part of this tournament? Right. He's been so vital to the team. I would argue he's been their second best player after Connor McDavid. Connor McDavid coming in this tournament game, excuse me, 12 points with a couple of goals, but celebrating, has been leading with five goals. And he's been amazing. And Nate Thompson was making the point on our podcast, NHL Unscripted, that, you know, it's kind of like what Ethan was just saying as far as putting Panthers together, you need to have guys who know how to play with each other. And to Celebrini, he's been great. He's willing to acclimate himself. He can go on the wing, he can play different positions, he can take the power play, like whatever he needs. So, like, it's not as easy as you think just to throw a bunch of collection of talent together. It's not only celebrating his skill set, but also his ability to mold that skill set to whoever he's playing with. He's been awesome, a revelation. And as you said, for the next 20 years, we're going to be watching him play for Team Canada.
Dave
What I love about him, Madman, is obviously he's super skilled and we've got plenty of young, super skilled guys in the lead right now. And it's very, very Exciting, you know, with Connor Bedard, his teammate, Will Smith, the guys up in Anaheim. But what I love about Macklin, what we're seeing, like, bits and pieces of throughout the season, it's not just his skill set, it's his hockey iq, it's his maturity. And I think back to that play, like right before the Olympic break where he got clipped, the ref called a high stick penalty, and he's like, no, no, no. It didn't actually hit me. Don't call a penalty. That didn't happen. Which you never, ever see at this level, like, the kind of integrity that that young man is showing, and he still got so much more growing and maturity to do. That gives me hope, not just as a hockey fan, but as a human being that there's still some nice, youthful people in the world. Yeah.
Adnan Burke
And as we said before, David, like, when it comes to the trophy, like, it's interesting conversation because you think, well, it's McDavid, that stretch they went on, he'll be the guy. Or maybe it's McKinnon, because the Avalanche will probably be the number one seed. Maybe it's Kucherov, who's perennially overlooked, but he's always going to be in contention for the Art Ross. But then you look at Celebrity, you go, if the Sharks make the playoffs, you can make a legit vote that Macklin Celebrity should be the hard trophy winner. I mean, in terms of percentage of points that he's been a part of, he's over 50% of his team's points, more than any other player. For McDavid, you can say he's got dry sell. For McKinney, you can say he's got Makar. With regards to celebrating, he is the San Jose Sharks. You look at that team with respect to Will Smith and others, he's been the guy carrying them. So you're right. Not only is he great right now, but he could be a hard trophy winner. It's crazy.
Dave
Well, that's the definition of the heart trophy. It's the most valuable player to his team. So I completely agree with you. When you look at it in the context of that specific term, it's got to be Macklin Celebrini, because if you pluck him off that Shark seam, they are who we thought they were.
Adnan Burke
Yeah.
Roy Bellamy
All right.
Adnan Burke
Good reference. Yeah.
Roy Bellamy
All right. Cindy Crosby. This injury apparently was not worst case scenario for Team Canada, according to Emily Kaplan. And they were trying to find a custom brace for him to skate on, according to Elliot Friedman.
Dave
So skate, Sydney, skate.
Roy Bellamy
So that didn't work for Canada. So they held him out in this game. He's going to play in the gold medal game. If they get past Finland today.
Dave
You heard it here.
Roy Bellamy
They're getting closer, they're getting down. What you.
Rosie
You.
Roy Bellamy
I mean, you don't think he's going to play the gold medal game? I think he's going to play the gold medal game. You heard here first.
Adnan Burke
I think it's a coin flip, Roy. I mean, for them to say, initially, as you said, the MRI was not the worst case scenario, but then to rule him out, but saying, well, he's not necessarily out of the tournament. I don't think that means he's in for the gold medal game. I just means, like, they're keeping the door ajar. You're taking that to be like 90% he's in. I'm like, no, I think it means he's like 20% he's in.
Dave
Paul Maurici in this situation, they had him at 30%. We'll find out tomorrow. Then tomorrow comes around. Always week to week.
Roy Bellamy
And, you know, I mean, there is
Ethan
no week to week at these Olympics. If you're weak to week, it's over.
Adnan Burke
Like the NHL, he'd be out for a week or two. That we definitely know. But the Olympics are trying to say, okay, 10% chance. Willis Reed, can he give us a couple of shifts? Is there any point to this? That's, I think, what they're doing.
Dave
And Matthew Tachuk in the Four nations final, what do you play, like, five minutes?
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, it'll probably be 13 forward, just like Sam Reinhart was today. But that.
Ethan
Don't get me started on that.
Roy Bellamy
All right, so that leads me to as. As we said, week to week, that leads me to the National Hockey League and what Pittsburgh is going to have to do if he is significantly injured. What say you at now? What's going to happen here? Because they're on a playoff chase.
Dave
Yeah.
Adnan Burke
I mean, listen, for Pittsburgh, it would be absolutely brutal, right? Because as you said, no one's expecting this team really to be a playoff team, and they're in that hunt. So if Crosby's out for an extended period of time, and again, if this was the NHL regular season, I think we all know he'd be out for a week or two. A week or two can do my team. Like, it was so incredibly tight for much of this regular season, and then finally we saw some separation a week or two before the Olympic break. But all of a sudden now, if you go like an 031 stretch like Pittsburgh would be in real trouble. And Crosby's been so vital to this team. So this is truly that worst case scenario. You say, okay, it's so much fun. All we get to watch Olympic hockey at a national level, but there's only seven of 32 teams that are really being accounted for. Right. If you look at the number of players playing in the Olympics versus everybody staying at home, 25 of the 32 are just hanging out. Right. Go get some sun. Relax. Do what you got to do. Those players took that risk by going there. And I can imagine for that Penguins fan base, or for Kyle Dubas specifically, he's irate, he's outraged. But this is the risk that you take.
Dave
Fun fact, Roy. Pittsburgh is the worst shootout team in the NHL at 1 and 7.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, he's not exactly open things. I guess he's trying to give you
Dave
something, to give you a little something before you move on. That's all.
Roy Bellamy
Well, I appreciate you. I appreciate doing you doing that set. We had this idea of creating a hockey team and rostering characters from TV shows and movies, and this week's choice was Family Guy. And right now it's gonna be David and Adnan doing the teams because I know I actually don't watch Family Guy
Ethan
and nobody included me on the joke.
Dave
As we get more into this, I think we should. Maybe the communication will be a little bit better. The idea was fun. We talked about doing it with Sopranos characters, so there's something good there. But this week, we. It's just me and Adnan.
Roy Bellamy
All right, so let's start. I mean, we're going to do the starters here, the five position players, and goaltender. Why don't you start there, David?
Dave
What position would you like me to start with?
Roy Bellamy
I mean, you're a goaltender. Might as well go with the guy in the net.
Dave
Lead with net. Fine. I'm putting Peter Griffin in goal. Adnan. As long as he shows up to the game sober, he's actually quite good between the pipes. Granted, much of that space he's taking up with his massive frame. But every so often a Greg Goldberg comes along and defies the laws of gravity by being a chubby goalie with ridiculous reflexes that can stop the puck. That's my Peter Griffin to put the
Ethan
sumo wrestler in goal strategy.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah.
Dave
What was the. Was it the giant Sea lion from that commercial?
Ethan
The walrus?
Roy Bellamy
Yeah.
Adnan Burke
I think it's almost like he's deceptively athletic. Like, at the very least, he's a big guy. Should think he stopped the Fuck. But I'm with you. If you've watched enough Family Guy, he's pretty nimble at times. Peter Griffin can get around a little bit. Kick saving a beauty. I think he can stop the fivefold. And quite honestly, I'm not going to put him anywhere else. Maybe he's a lumbering defenseman, but I think a goalie is the right choice for Peter Griffin.
Dave
Is that also your goalie?
Adnan Burke
He's my goalie as well.
Ethan
I did not have Adnan down as a family guy.
Dave
Oh, come on, Mark.
Roy Bellamy
Stall.
Adnan Burke
I'm not, to be honest with you, but I just throw it out there. When he said to me a show. I'm not a family guy. But I don't actually.
Ethan
That's perfect.
Roy Bellamy
All right, go ahead.
Adnan Burke
The same with the rest of the way. Because really, all I know about the next one is Stewie, because I love Stewie. He's unbelievable anybody who's a homicidal baby. So to me, he's my sentiment. Like, I want him taking. I think he's great in the opposition. I think he's a kamikaze in there. I think he goes in the corners that he fights. I think he's gonna play me 30 minutes tonight. I'll double shift him late. His energy is off the charts by center.
Dave
See, I got Stewie as my coach. Yeah, well, you know, because he's a. He's a. He's a WAR general. He knows how to direct players. He knows how to conquer things. So I had Stewie coaching. But my top line center, it's Glenn Quagmire. Plays like Barkov, looks like Tom Wilson. He's fast. He's got hands like a magician. He can take off a woman's bra in less than a half a second. He's got this sneaky acceleration right there. Defenders never see him coming. Sneaks up behind streaking forwards. Glenn Clydmire is my guy.
Ethan
Charlie McAvoy, with his chin all beat up, kind of looks like Quagmire right now.
Dave
But Tom Wilson has those cheeks. He looks like a chipmunk.
Adnan Burke
That's a tremendous Quagmire reference I want to mention. On defense, I've got Brian. I think. Listen, we all know that a dog is a man's best friend, and in this case, a goalie's best friend. Peter Griffin's best friend is Brian. If you get a dog back there ready to go, there's a dog in the fight. He's the guy. Ethan's holding his hand up.
Ethan
No, I just love it.
Roy Bellamy
I just. Amazing.
Ethan
Analysis. Dog's best dog is man's best friend. He's a goalie's best friend. Just amazing.
Dave
Solid logic.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, but he's not a fighter because Stewie.
Dave
So, yeah, rounding out my forwards, I got on the left side, I got grease stuff. Def guy, easy choice, impossible to cover, slimy on the boards, just real good around the net. On the right side, I wanted a Matthew Tachuk type from my right wing. A sweetheart off the ice, but a nightmare inside the boards. That's Cleveland Brown. There's a reason that he's the low key tough guy in Peter Peter Griffin's friends group, and that's because it's Cleveland.
Adnan Burke
I mean, Cleveland's a great choice. I mean, to me, I want a 4. I want Megan there. I think you're gonna go, like, sweet. Like, you know, on sweet off the ice, tough on the ice. I think I've got Meg as my left winger. I think she's in there. She's willing to get dirty if need be. I think Meg is. Again, women's hockey. I want some representation of my team. So I'm putting Meg as my. One of my forwards.
Dave
I got. Meg is my right D. Basically, Radko Dudas without the beard. On the ice, decent skater, impossible to get around. Heavy shot, surprisingly physical, but that's definitely one of the female representation. And then as my Lefty, I've got Mr. Herbert. Is there anyone better at tracking their prey? Or anyone with a sneakier quickness than that old pervert? Mr. Herbert plays through injuries, and he's like the Terminator when he's got his eyes on you and he's pursuing you.
Adnan Burke
I mean, no one's going to top that. I'll just mention that Lois is Brian's D partner. I'll just leave it at that. I just need to round out my rest of my starting five. I said ultimately, Quagmire was your best choice. I want to make Quagmire now my coach. That's pretty funny.
Ethan
Oh, my God.
Roy Bellamy
So is that your entire roster?
Ethan
That's it.
Dave
That's. That's our Family Guy hockey roster.
Roy Bellamy
Oh, my God. Roster. All right, Rosie.
Dave
Mine might end up in jail.
Roy Bellamy
Rosie, you have a movie question before we get out of here?
Rosie
Before you go, have you watched Wuthering Heights?
Adnan Burke
I haven't. My wife went and saw it with her girlfriends. It was a huge hit at the box office. Rosie. $84 million, which is massive.
Dave
Is that the one with Margot Robbie?
Adnan Burke
Margot Robbie? Jacob Elordi. I love the book, Rosie. I read it. Years ago, when I was in college, we had to read it in American literature. Heathcliff, the tortured hero with bays, headbutting trees and stuff. It's great. I did. I did really enjoy the book, but honestly, I wasn't. I wasn't upset that she went with her girlfriends. I wasn't, like, rushing it to see Wuthering Heights. I'll see it at some point. I'm not crazy about Emerald Fennel. I like the cast. I like both those actors. But I really didn't like Saltburn. I was really opinion.
Rosie
I hated Saltburn.
Dave
Yeah.
Adnan Burke
So it's the same director, right? Emerald Fennel. So I'm not really crazy about her stuff.
Rosie
Yeah. When people were like, hey, I read the book and everything. I read the book. I don't care about the book. I don't care about the story. I just want to go see Jacob. Lordy. And when I saw that it was Jacob out loud.
Ethan
Is having a moment.
Adnan Burke
Royce.
Ethan
What is having a moment? Listen, he did Rivalry. Wuthering Heights.
Adnan Burke
No, it's funny. A friend of mine saw it, Rosie, and I just said, hey, is Margot Robbie? We're getting any of that? And he goes, no. And nor from Jacob Elordi. And I started laughing. I go, I'm glad you pointed. Yes, because neither of them were naked at any point in the movie. He goes, there's quite a bit of filth in there. But neither Elordi or Margot Ross.
Dave
That's an important question. Adnan, I appreciate you asking those.
Rosie
No, but just watching him in the. In his white shirt under the rain, I was like, oh, yeah, I'm in.
Ethan
I mean, can we let Adnan go? There's under four minutes left in a tie game in the semifinals of the Olympics. Like, let's let Adnan go. Go watch the game, Adnan.
Roy Bellamy
We love you. Adnan, before you leave, what's your next assignment in, I guess, what weeks?
Adnan Burke
Yeah, Amazon prime returns March 2. That's right. Flyers and Leafs. I look forward to that game. Although unfortunately, both those teams. Look at the. Probably not going to make the playoffs. We thought it'd be a good game at the start of the season, but it'll be a chance to see, hopefully Travis Sanheim, gold medalist for Team Canada, back playing in Toronto.
Roy Bellamy
We'll see. So there you go. That's Anan's next assignment. He works for Prime Monday Night Hockey. Adnan Burke, thank you for joining us.
Adnan Burke
All right, thank you, guys. Jacob Elordi, by the way, nominated for best supporting actor. So I'm sure that Rosie's Oliver Frankenstein as well. Available on Netflix.
Rosie
Yeah, I haven't watched it. Jacob Authority. Woo.
Dave
Deep breaths, brother.
Roy Bellamy
All right, thanks again for Adam and Evric for joining us. The hockey show has a live stream on Sunday for the gold medal game and right now it's a toss up because we don't know if Canada is going to make it and we don't know if the United States are going to make it. But whoever makes it, we're going to watch them on a live stream on Sunday at 8am Eastern. That's going to be on the Levitage Show YouTube page. So please everybody join us there. All four of us will be there.
Dave
Gotta figure out how I'm gonna get some cafecito at 8:00am in Davey.
Roy Bellamy
Yeah, I'm gonna have to have. Yeah, I'm going to end the show so I don't have to listen to any more sounds.
Ethan
I mean, I want to watch the
Adnan Burke
end of this game.
Roy Bellamy
All right, 308 left. Yeah, I'm not going to end it because you need to watch this game. That's not a priority for me. But anyway, thank you for the guys in the back, Gino and Jason. Thank you.
Dave
Danny's back there too.
Roy Bellamy
Thank you, Rosie.
Ethan
You missed somebody.
Roy Bellamy
Alexander Barkov. Thank you for. Thank you. David Dwarker for Hockey News. My name is and. And the show is. Thank you to Percy next week. Thank you.
Rosie
Thank you, Percy.
Adnan Burke
Thank you.
Rosie
Percy.
Dave
Percy.
Mike Ryan
Hey, everybody, it's Mike Ryan. He pulled out the Miller Lights and I knew right away I made the right call. Next thing you know, we're toasting, we're celebrating, we're having a great time. We're talking about nostalgia, we're talking about old friends that we had. And it was all things to Miller Light that icebreaker. Because when you actually say yes and you actually show up, you want a beer that fits the moment. For me, that's Miller Lite. Legendary moments.
