I'm going to marvel here probably one last time at the idea that rare is the basketball champion that has every single thing that they did as a choice doubted. From coach to star player to contracts to draft picks. Like every single thing gets doubted and every single thing ends up working. Because no matter what happens with those picks for bridges, the that's a success forevermore. Just because you built the team that brought this feeling one time. But when Chris Broussard said of the Brunson signing, I'm not sure he's a top 10 point guard. I'm not sure he's a top 14 point guard. Who are the names that he's thinking of? It's going to be really hard for me to find. Chris Broussard is cited for a long time as a basketball expert. He says a number of things that are relentlessly silly. Saying that Brunson was not a top 14 point guard puts who ahead of him. Jeremy, who from that time period was available in the league for the Knicks when they chose Brunson.
D
So available is a different question. Right. But the top 14 point guard. So this is going into the 20, 22, 23 season.
C
How are you ranking these?
D
Like, so I'm just, I'm just giving you names here. And I'm looking at what I imagine. Chris Broussard says, that guy's better.
C
Like, we're going to see if we
D
can find four, then borderline. Yes. So I'm sure that he was thinking James Harden, Chris Paul, Luka Doncic, Russell Westbrook, Drew Holiday, Damian Lillard, Jamal Murray, Kyrie Irving, and a young Shea Gildrus Alexander.
C
Okay.
D
Right. That's nine.
B
So Harden and Lillard are point guards. We're stretching what we're doing with point guards.
D
Well, Lillard has always been a point guard for sure. And I think at the time and continuing, I think. So Harden would have been listed as a point guard. Right. He was leading the league in a season in 82. Zero. He's a point guard. All right. Trae Young and Ja Morant are the next two I have on this list as he definitely at that time believed they were better than Jalen Brunson. That gets you to 11. Now we're pushing it. The next two I think he would have had would be Fred Van Fleet and Michael Connelly. Okay, now we're at 13, but to get to 14 better, you would need to include at least one of Darius Garland, Marcus Smart, Killian Hayes, Tre Jones, Martin, Markelle Fultz, or TJ McConnell.
C
Okay, so you're objecting to the top 14 instead of top 13? Is that what you're doing?
D
I'm objecting to all of it. It's a crazy take because it sounds
C
like you're really stuck on who's the 14th guy that he's behind.
D
Yeah, because it might have to be Marcus Smart or Killian Hayes. As, I mean, he was wrong.
C
But it doesn't seem that bad.
D
I'm not playing the game, man.
B
It's pretty bad.
D
Bad now.
B
Oh, yeah, well, yeah, yeah, that's what happens.
D
Yeah, that's what we're doing. Foresight.
C
Okay.
B
I would say that generally speaking, when it comes to analysts, you want them to have some sort of vision as to what's coming next, not just what's in front of you right now. And is Darius Garland better than Jalen Brunson?
C
Like, that's why I think top 13 is the real sticking point.
D
You know, he was saying he was the third best left handed point guard.
B
I don't think of James Harden as a point guard. You guys think of James Harden led
D
the league in assist, but I don't is Luka point guard.
C
I think Jokic led the league in assist this year. You know, point guard.
D
All right, enough of you.
B
Gotcha. I want to get to what it is that happened with Roman Reigns this weekend.
C
They massacred my boy.
B
Hold on though, before we get to the massacre of your boy. It was, it was an unfortunate thing that happened to him. But before we get to that, I just, I want to put the punctuation on, on Wemby season because there's a lot that happened here really fast, including over the last five games. Wemby's gone from this guy's going to be dominating the sport for 10 years to ooh, that's dirty and poisonous and ooh, you kind of shrunk in the fourth quarter and everything fell apart, including your demeanor in post game press conferences. This is how Wemby says goodbye to the media. This is how Wemby says goodbye to his season this is how Wemby says goodbye.
C
See? Never.
D
Classic mic audio there of a mic fumbling. What does that even mean?
C
See, I'll never. It feels a little bit like when LeBron told everybody, you know, after he lost here, I'm rich. No, that's like. Like, yeah, you know, I'm me, and you have to go back to your lives. Feels a little bit like that.
B
Does it? No, I think LeBron's was more egregious on those people who are criticizing me are unhappy people, and I get to go to my mansion. That's not what Wendy's saying here.
C
Never. I think he just said it in fewer words.
D
Is that a mic sound or an alien sound?
C
Yeah, that is true.
B
That's a good point.
C
See, I'll never. Oh, that's a good question.
B
That's a good question from Jeremy there. Is that the gurgling in the throat of an extraterrestrial, or is that a mic being dropped?
C
Co. Never.
D
That's him communicating to his.
C
His land.
B
They're asking questions from up there. Why were you so shitty in the fourth quarter we sent you? You're supposed to be stronger. Those people are human. The next guy, he's small and human.
D
We called 6000 the other guy for you.
B
I thought instead of a mic drop, that was just him dropping the mic. But now that Jeremy says that that is the sound an alien would make if it was peeling off its face.
C
Do you think he's telling his people to invade?
B
Do you think that those people will show up at the end of the fight and actually win it? Or do you think they'll fold and put down their weapons the last two minutes after leading the entirety of the battle?
D
Did you guys notice that after the game that they won, when Wemby was doing the postgame presser, de' Aaron Fox yelled at him, like, we gotta go. It's almost midnight. As if it's like a Cinderella thing where he's gonna turn back into an extraterrestrial. Anybody else notice that his response?
B
All right, let's get back to the camera, people and the director of this UFC Freedom event doing Roman Reigns dirty here. So Roman Reigns is simply preening for the camera with triple H. He's simply doing the pose that you always do if someone's taking your picture. You just put a finger out and you point in the direction or something, because you don't know what to do with your hand. But unfortunately, it was immediately after Michelle Obama was called a man.
D
Cut to Roman Reigns again. The people, the directors and stuff. Don't know what's happening. They're just being like, all right, here's the famous person. We got queued up. Here's Roman Reigns and Triple H. What did Hocut say?
B
Yeah, not great. Play the Wemby sound again. I can't believe how much that sounds like a gurgling alien.
C
Co never.
