Welcome to the David Pakman Show. My name is Brittany Page and I host the Page Perspective right here on YouTube. I am your guest host for today and I am eager to get into the headlines today because it is just one way that I cope with the daily onslaught of horror yapping. So Donald Trump woke up this morning and decided that his first priority should should be using the office of the presidency and the power of his platform to bully a trans child. Imagine that you wake up and the President of the United States is riling up his unhinged supporters against you as a child, or if you are a parent, against your child. He's also specifically calling out California Governor Gavin Newsom in his post on Truth Social, which, which we will get to in a minute. The context for all of this is, aside from the Republican Party's open, eager and unceasing bigotry, is Donald Trump's executive order banning trans women and girls from participation in women's sports that he signed back in February. I'm sure after calling Will Scharf up to his side to explain it like he does with all of his executive orders. You guys have noticed this, right? He can't explain executive orders he's about to sign. He can't explain executive orders he's already signed. He needs Will to come over and explain very carefully what is going on at all times. Again, paging Jake Tapper. But Trump's executive order cites Title 9, noting that schools receiving federal funds cannot discriminate against women, cannot deny them an equal opportunity to participate in sports. And so his announcement today is a threat to California's federal funding that if the state refuses to comply with his executive order, Trump Trump views his executive orders as essentially royal decrees which should immediately be followed as new laws. As an aside, I think he could use Will's, Will's help here to explain how things work, since that's not how things work and if you step out of line, you get threatened. So let's look at this post and then we'll talk about the additional details on the other side, quote, California, under the leadership of radical left Democrat Gavin News Gum Clever continues to illegally allow men to play in women's sports. This week, a transitioned male athlete at a major event won, quote, unquote, everything, and is now qualified to compete in the, quote, unquote, state finals. Again, why this be in quotes next weekend? As a male, he was a less than average competitor. As a female, this transitioned person is practically unbeatable. This is not fair and totally demeaning to women and Girls, please be hereby advised that large scale federal funding will be held back maybe permanently, if the executive order on this subject matter is, is not adhered to. The governor himself said it was, quote, unquote, unfair. I will speak to him today to find out which way he wants to go. Question mark, question mark, question mark. In the meantime, I am ordering local authorities, if necessary, to not allow the transitioned person to compete in the state finals. This is a totally ridiculous situation. Trump, of course, highlighted Governor Gavin Newsom's sit down with Charlie Kirk where he ceded ground to the right on the issue of trans rights. And listen, this is going to be a dividing line that you see as Democratic candidates line up for their shot at gaining more power as we're facing upcoming elections. We're already seeing this divide happening with people like Gavin Newsom going to the right on these issues, while someone like Tim Walls remains steadfast in their dedication to human rights, unwilling to hedge or seed ground to the right. We have people like Senator Alyssa Slotkin who are trying to make an early name for themselves by proclaiming the problem with the Democratic Party right now is the emphasis on woke. Using woke as a pejorative, using it the way that it has been weaponized by the right, when all the word means is to be aware, conscious of racial injustice, and how could that possibly be a bad thing? And if you ask me, it seems we've tried this method ad nauseam. This going to the right, this trying to prove a dedication to centrist and or right leaning politics in some embarrassing attempt to win over people from the right. But when has it worked? It certainly didn't work for Kamala Harris, but we spend all this time talking about trans participation in sports when, I mean, did you know how many actual individuals we're actually talking about here? Let's look at these numbers. Quote, according to Charlie Baker, the president of the NCAA, there are fewer than 10 transgender athletes he is aware of who currently compete in college sports. And Nationally, just around 1% of adults identify as transgender, according to the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law. This statistically small group of Americans has continued to receive an outsized level of attention from those on the right and Trump's new administration. So we don't need to get into every little argument here. I don't know the details of the case of the child that Trump is bullying here, and I don't think it's relevant to take a moral position against the President of the United States. We can do that without knowing the details he's using the power of his position in office to bully a child. I hope this child is safe. I hope this family is safe and I want to end on this I recently came across this letter to the editor in the Portland Press Herald. It's written by Anneliese Feldman, a freshman at Yarmouth High School. She recently came in second in a race where where a trans girl took first place. She lives in Maine and her story has been weaponized by Republican Representative Laurel Libby. This is Anneliese's message. Quote Rep. Laurel Libby, Republican, Auburn recently used my second place finish in the 1600 meter run and that of my teammate in the 800 meter run to malign Soren Stark Chessa, the trans identified athlete who finished first. One of the reasons I chose to run cross country and track is the community teammates cheering each other on, athletes from different schools coming together and the fact that personal improvement is valued as much as, if not more than the place we finish. Last Friday I ran the fastest 1600 meter race I have ever run in middle school or high school track and earned varsity status by my school's standards. I am extremely proud of the effort I put into the race and the time that I achieved. The fact that someone else finished in front of me didn't diminish the happiness I felt after finishing that race. I don't feel like first place was taken from me. Instead I feel like a happy day was turned ugly by a bully who is using children to make political points. We are all just kids trying to make our way through high school. Participating in sports is the highlight of high school for some kids. No one was harmed by Soren's participation in the girls track meet, but we are all harmed by the hateful rhetoric of bullies like Rep. Libby who want to take sports away from some kids just because of who they are. Analise Feldman we often hear from politicians eager to score political points on this issue, but we don't often hear from the young people who are actually in it and we should. I'm grateful to Annelise for sharing her story, sharing her perspective as a ghoul tries to use her story to bully another kid and I hope that governor Gavin Newsom decides to stand against Donald Trump rather than cede ground to the right. Our new anti vaccine activist, Secretary of Health and Human Services RFK Jr is out with a new announcement that he is changing the COVID 19 vaccination recommendations for pregnant women and healthy children, stating that the COVID vaccine will no longer be recommended by the cdc and I'm going to play his announcement, which he posted to Twitter here in a moment. But first, I want to remind you of what RFK said just six months ago, before he was officially confirmed and trying to convince us all that he wasn't planning on. On ruining our lives.
