Some mysteries begin with a strange noise.

Others begin with a single name.

This week, Campfire Files returns to the rocky coast of Maine as Nina and Paul attempt to convince themselves that the footsteps they heard the night before were nothing more than an old house settling into the cool Atlantic air.

Morning, however, has other plans.

The locked room at the end of the hallway is standing open.

Inside, they discover what appears to be an ordinary family storage room filled with decades of forgotten memories. But hidden among the coats and keepsakes is an old leather suitcase bearing a luggage tag that should not exist.

It has Nina's full legal name.

Her middle name.

Her home address in Phoenix.

And no one should know any of it.

When the owner sends the property's longtime caretaker to Birch House, the mystery only deepens. Walter Pike has spent his entire life watching over the Bennett Place, and he speaks about the house less like a building and more like an elderly relative. Then he shares a story passed down from his father about the last woman who lived there—a widow who kept suitcases packed for people who never came home.

Her explanation has haunted the town ever since.

"Departures are easier when the house knows who's leaving."

As Walter searches the storage room, the suitcase disappears before their eyes, leaving behind a question no one—not even the caretaker—can answer.
