I'm your host, Jim Alstott, and I'm so happy you all decided to join us. Have you ever wondered what really happens when we die? How about this? Have you ever heard of someone having the ability to interpret health issues without the use of traditional medical diagnostic methods or equipment? These people are called medical intuitives. And these people may provide insights into underlying health conditions, emotional and spiritual imbalances, or future health risks. Joining us today is Julie Ryan, psychic medium, medical intuitive, serial entrepreneur, and a whole lot more, as we'll discover on today's episode. So welcome to the Drop the Needle Podcast, Julie.
B
Wow. Thanks so much for having me. What a delight to be with you.
A
Well, thanks for joining us. I guess I could have simplified the list of your gifts by just saying buffet of psychicness, couldn't I? I could have just done that.
B
That's right. I tell people I'm a businesswoman and an inventor who learned how to do woo woo, and I'm a buffet of psychicness.
A
That's outstanding. You know what I did forget, though? I forgot author, podcaster, and the list goes on and on.
B
Mom, wife, grandmother, sister, friend.
A
Yeah, excellent, excellent. So could you explain to everyone a little bit about your background? Can you. Can you fill everyone in a little bit?
B
Sure, sure. I. As I mentioned, I'm a serial entrepreneur. I founded nine companies in five industries, and I'm an inventor of surgical devices sold throughout the world and former manufacturer of them. And I say I'm a businesswoman who learned how to do woo woo because I learned how to be a medical intuitive and psychic medium, Jim. And interestingly enough, in the woo woo space, by the way, woo in Taoism means source. I don't know if you knew that.
A
I did not know that. That's awesome.
B
I think woo woo is a fun term, and then I. I've used it for years. Then I have a very dear friend who's a daoist priest. He goes well, you know, whoa means source. And that was the most works for me.
A
Wow.
B
So I didn't have dead people chasing me since childhood, or if I did, I didn't, I didn't know it, let alone what I would have done with that. And I learned how to be a medical, intuitive and psychic medium. We all have the ability. It's just a matter of developing and enhancing it. And that's what I help people do all over the world, is learn how to do my buffet of psychicness, which includes, as you mentioned, we can talk to your dead grandma. We can scan your cat. I can scan you energetically for healing. I'm like a human mri. We can do past lives, we can talk to your angels, your spirit guides, whatever. And what I found is when we connect with spirit, we can do it all. So I'm not so sure why it's so siloed in the woo woo arena. Like, you got the pet psychics and the mediums and the healers and the past life people and the nd ears. It's all the same thing. It's all source, you know, and it's.
A
It's interesting that you say that. And I've found that to be the case as I continue to have spiritual guests on the show, it seems regularly. There is one exception to this, and I call her the spiritual Swiss army knife. She's very much like you. She has several, several gifts in her toolbox. But I have found that for whatever reason, people will put a single label on themselves. And then as you're talking to them, you'll come to find out, oh, well, I'm a Reiki master too. And I've got this, and I do tarot. You know, it's like, oh, okay, well, you should say that. Share them. Share your gifts.
B
Right, right, right. When I first started doing this woo woo stuff for a career, one of my dear friends is a retired entrepreneur professor. She actually started the entrepreneur program at Southern Cal, the University of Southern California. And she said, well, you gotta, you gotta pick a niche and stay in your lane. And I said, why? And she said, because people aren't gonna understand. I go, am I gonna do that? You know, because once you connect with spirit, you can do it all. And, and I think that goes back to. I used to, We, We've laughed. She used to say to me, well, you need to come get your mba. And I'd say, why? I don't want it messing up my brain. She'd say, well, what do you mean messing up your brain? I'd Say, I think outside of the box, as an entrepreneur, I don't want to have a mindset that you got to do it this way, in this manner, with this amount of money and this many employees and all of that. I said I'd rather just have it be open and be like a wildcatter. And so that's what I've done with the, you know, the wildcatter oilmen who just went out and found oil and they didn't have all the geothermal and.
A
Right. Just started digging.
B
They just. They just had a feeling and started digging. So I'm more like those wildcatters.
A
Well, and so that's interesting. I wanted to talk a little bit about your energy healing because I know that you are a Reiki practitioner as well. Correct.
B
Well, 30 years, 35, 40 years ago, I had somebody that initiated me into Reiki. I didn't know anything about it. I didn't know what it was. She like, did this voodoo stuff around me and drew some symbols and all of that. And. And I never, you know, I didn't pay any attention to it. It was like, okay, fine, if you want to do that, that's fine. And then when my son, who's now in his early 30s, when he was a toddler, we were at a friend's house and he fell on the patio and skinned his little knees. So I held him and put my hands over his knees and, you know, then kissed him. Kissed, kissed the boo boos. And he got up and played some more. And then about an hour later, Jim, when I was putting him in the car seat to go home, there was no trace of blood droplets on his knees, no bruising. He never bruised. And I thought, whoa, what is this? And then, really, when I came into all of this, Reiki was a really good place to start.
A
Sure.
B
And then. But then I didn't really ever do anything with it. But then I had about 30 years ago, a girlfriend who gave me a book called Anatomy of the Spirit by Carolyn Mace. And she calls herself a medical intuitive.
A
Yes.
B
And I thought, what the heck is that? I'd never heard that term before. And at that point, I'd been in the hospital supply industry for at least a decade and was at that point inventing and manufacturing surgical devices. So I was helping medical practitioners and doctors and surgeons help people heal through products that I was developing and manufacturing. And so I wanted to know more information. And back then, we didn't have the Internet yet, so I went to a bookstore to see if there was something else about this Topic. And I found a book called Hands of Light by Barbara Brennan, who. The late Barbara Brennan was a NASA physicist who parlayed very complex quantum physics principles into understandable English for the non scientific mind. That would be me.
A
Me too.
B
How to use energy to help facilitate healing. And I wanted to know more. So I called her school, which at the time was on Long island in New York, and I said, do you guys have anybody teaching this stuff in my area? And lo and behold, they did. They had a graduate who had opened a school and I studied with her for six years. And people would say to me, family and friends, why are you doing this? And I'd say, I have no idea. And they'd say, well, what are you going to do with it? I said, again, I have no clue.
A
No idea, right?
B
No idea. It was just fascinating. Fast forward now. I teach people all over the world so far, from 15 countries of all. From all walks of life how to do what I do. But it's consolidated into a weekend. And in the first couple of hours they're doing this whether they have any previously known abilities or not. And then they take this information back into their lives and utilize it. So I use the analogy of people say, well, if it took you six years, were you just a slow learner or what? Or have. But I've been doing it for 30 years now, so I've developed my own techniques and methodologies to. Because Barbara Brennan designed that stuff 50 years ago. And so I say she's kind of like, we used to communicate with carrier pigeons and then we used horseback riders, and then we used the Wells Fargo wagon and then the mail. And now we communicate instantly with our technology. Same com, same situation with this.
A
It's very cool. I love that. And as far as I want to stay in, in this area for, for just another moment or two, as far as those gifts as a medical intuitive, and I had mentioned that it's being able to identify particular areas, let's just say from a physical body and not even get into spiritual or emotional, but from a physical persp. You're able to identify where there are some problem areas or something. Can you walk us through what, what that is? And then what do you do with that?
B
Yes, absolutely. I'm like a human mri. Jim and I raised my vibrational level to the level of spirit because we're all spirits attached to a body having a human experience. And when we are attached to a body, our spirits are attached to a body. We vibrate more slowly simply because the body has mass. Imagine Trying to run an electrical current through a bowl of pudding. It's going to slow it down, right? So I raised my vibrational level. This is what I teach people. It takes a nanosecond. It does not require chanting under crystals in a yerk for an hour, twirling three times, jumping on your left foot and raising your right hand. You can do that if you want, but it's not necessary. So I turn my abilities on and off that will. And then I'll watch a laser beam in my mind's eye come from my body, wherever I am, to you, wherever you are. And then I'll have a hologram of you in my mind's eye. And I'll envision shooting energy from your feet up through the top of your head. And it will be as if I'm looking at an X ray or a CT scan or an mri. And I can see in my mind's eye broken bones, torn ligaments, viral infections, bacterial, infectious cancer, metastasized cancer, whatever. And then immediately, when something's identified, there will be an energetic healing that begins. And that can take the form of something getting added, something getting removed. I watch procedures all the time in my mind's eye, Jim, that emulate what I saw in surgery for all those years. Developing products, testing prototypes with my team and the surgeons and the staff. Sometimes I see healings that utilize methodologies and devices that haven't been invented yet. And it's common to hear me say, oh, cool, I haven't seen this before. And that just is appealing to my inventor brain. Every Thursday night at, at 8 Eastern, I do the Ask Julie Ryan show. And people call in from all over the world. And a lot of what I do on that show, and it's live, it's live streamed on YouTube and then also recorded and released on all the podcast networks. But somebody will call in, they'll say, I have a pain in my left knee. Can you scan it? And I'll say, yeah, where are you? Okay, I'm in Sydney, Australia. Great. Here comes my laser beam from sweet home Alabama. I'll hook into them in Sydney, Australia, and then I'll get an image of their left knee in my mind's eye. And I'll say, you have a torn meniscus. So then I'll describe the healing. Okay, we're going to use stem cell energy. The meniscus looks like a flap of tissue. The stem cell energy is a light amber colored gel with sparkles in it. Because of course you got to have sparkles. It, you know, and it reminds me of dippity Doo hair gel in the 60s and 70s when I was a kid. So I'll watch that get smoothed on. I'll see a vortex spinning above their knee and the energetic healing will happen. So the healings, something will be identified, there'll be a healing. Something will be identified, there'll be a healing. When I have a client for an hour, we'll go through multiple things. I'll say, tell me what all your symptoms are. I always go in blind first because I want to see where the energy is going to go because it's going to go to the most pressing issue first. Now that baby is something that's asymptomatic and we're heading off a problem at the past. It may be the root cause of several other symptoms that maybe their medical providers haven't put two and two together to say, okay, you're living in a moldy environment and that's what's causing all these different symptoms. So. And then the healing will begin. So it's really fun because we get to see amazing things. I describe it to my client or my caller, and on my show, I say to everybody listening, okay, you guys, everybody picture what I'm talking about because this is going to be a group healing. And it doesn't matter whether they're listening live or where they're listening five years from now, because time doesn't exist in the spirit world. Time's a human creation. And so it's really fun when we do that. So the healing happens on the energetic level. Then it's going to integrate into the person's body. That can happen instantly. It can take days, weeks, months. May need complementary care like change in diet, physical therapy, mold remediation.
A
Sure.
B
And so I'll get that information too. I call that divine download. So I'm watching the healing, I'm describing it to my client. I'm getting information from spirit about, yeah, you know, you need to lay off dairy kind of a thing. So I laugh and I say, it's a good thing I'm a girl because I can multitask. It's a female superpower.
A
Oh, yeah. I know that ailment very well. I'm not a good multitasker. One of the things that I was thinking about when you were talking about the identification, let's say that there's something going on in someone's heart. Okay. And you see that and you start the healing. Is it a one session healing or are there multiple sessions involved with that?
B
Great question. It's spirit working through me and with me to help that person heal themselves. Because nobody ever heals anybody else, ever. No doctor, no medical provider, no shaman, no healer like me. If you think about you go to the emergency room with a big cut on your leg, well, the doctor's going to stitch it up. But the doctor doesn't make your skin grow back. You make your own skin grow back. Excuse me. So it's been my experience the healing happens on the inner, on the energetic level. It's part of the healing equation. Perhaps the person needs surgery on the human side, but it's already happened on the energetic side. So the surgery is going to be a breeze. So it's done on the energetic side. And then that person integrates the healing. And that's all predicated on what their spirit wants to explore and experience in this life. So as I mentioned, it can happen instantly. It can take days, weeks, months. May need complementary care. And so it's part of the healing equation. It's a piece of the healing puzzle. You go to the cardiologist, if you got a heart thing going on, you may go to a neurologist, you may go to a chiropractor, you may go to a dietitian, you may go to an energy healer like me. It's all pieces of the puzzle of the person healing themselves.
A
Right.
B
We just help the person heal themselves.
A
I love that, by the way. I absolutely love hearing that and backing it up. The way you described it makes. It makes sense to me. I'll just. I'll just put it that way. Especially when you're talking about, you use the example of the cut. Right. So we are healing ourselves, and sometimes it's just a matter of getting that started, I suppose. Right.
B
You think about back to the cut example. We don't see a cell latch onto another cell to another cell that causes a gap that allows the cells to connect and generate to form new skin. But we know it works because we've experienced it. But we're not watching all those cells come together. And it's the same with this. We don't utilize our regular five senses to see, okay, there's this frequency that's coming from Julie in Alabama and it's coming up to Jim in Chicago. But we know what works. Oftentimes my client and my callers can feel when I'm working on them because they feel hot or warm or tingly or whatever. Furthermore, I think that it's interesting how spirit uses these most of the time hilarious analogies to in they put these Pictures in my head so that I can describe. Okay, Jim, I know your left elbow hurts. Well, it looks like a bowl of whipped cream. You're going, what? But you can picture that. And then I'm describing how the whipped cream starts to. To twirl in a vorte. And then stem cell energy is being used to heal that chipped bone, perhaps, that you have in your elbow from when you fell. And people say, oh, my goodness. You describe body parts better than any doctor I've ever been to. And they're wild analogies at times, incredible. But it gives us a human frame of reference that we can picture. And in doing so, it helps us heal ourselves, because the body's gonna follow what the brain should showing it, even if the brain doesn't believe it to be true. Think of when you watched you're a guy Field of dreams. Right. I don't know a man in my circle who's ever watched Field of Dreams without getting weepy. Yeah, it's very emotional for most men to watch that movie. It's pretend. You know it's pretend.
A
Right.
B
Yet you find yourself getting teary. Well, your body's following what your brain's showing it. It. Same concept.
A
That makes sense. That's a great description. Yeah, that. That really is. So how long does it take you. Let's say that you have someone calling in. How long does it take you to dial into them and then do the diagnosis of them?
B
Nanosecond.
A
Really?
B
Yeah.
A
Wow, that's amazing.
B
Yeah. Yeah. And I watch. I watch a laser beam cross oceans. If it's somebody that's in Australia or New Zealand, I'll watch it go underneath globe. You know, if it's in the Orient, I will watch some. I will watch laser beam go to Singapore or Korea or wherever, because I get to talk to people from all over the world. Russia. I watch it go across. Watch my laser beam go across maps now. That's how I'm picturing it in my mind's eye. That's how spirit's showing me that image. So I know what's going on.
A
Right.
B
And then I'll. It'll. It'll immediately go. I could find you if you were in a galaxy far, far away. It doesn't matter where you are. I could hook into you. If you are flying across the Atlantic Ocean at 40,000ft, it doesn't matter, because I'm traveling in plasma energy. You know, we got electromagnetic energy. Right. That's Edison. That's our electricity coming into our homes. And use. Uses gravity. And then there's plasma energy that Nikola Tesla really discovered. And so spirit operates in plasma energy. And so that's the, that's the force field. Okay, how's that sound? That's being utilized to do this. And, and it's, it's fascinating how we can remote view. That's what I'm doing when I'm looking inside somebody's body. I'm remote viewing where they are. I'm remote viewing what they look like, what their body looks like, what the spirits around them look like if we're talking to a deceased loved one. And so it's really fascinating. I teach remote viewing as well because it's an integral part of the work that we do.
A
Sure. Well, that makes sense. Especially when you're doing distance healings and things like that. I think it would be very important. I'm going to talk about or ask you to discuss it really. What really happens when we die? That's an important piece of your body of work, as I see it, because you have a show, you have a course coming up, is, it's next, next.
B
Month in October, October 24th through the 26th in Atlanta.
A
Right. And that's angelic attendance. And so I want to talk a little bit about what really happens when we die, if you don't mind, because then that's going to kind of transition into your coursework and we can talk about that a little bit. So what, we can let people know what to expect?
B
Yeah, well, I teach the whole buffet of psychicness and you're right, the, you do everything. They learn to communicate with spirit, do the medical, do the pet, do the spirit guides and angels, do the past life stuff, the remote viewing, all of it, it's the whole buffet of psychicness in a weekend.
A
Well, then that's a bargain in my opinion, because it's more than that, typically for individual courses like that. So. That's.
B
Right, Right.
A
Well, I'm sorry, I'm jumping the gun, but I, I, that's really, that's, that is a bargain.
B
But yeah. So what happens when somebody dies? There's lots of information, Jim, out there I have found about the afterlife and about near death experiences and the phases of grief or the stages of grief, but not so much information about what happens when we're dying. And that's what people are really afraid of. You know, are we gonna fly or are we gonna fry when we die? Most of us, you know, that have been raised in the Western Judeo Christian religions and cultures, you know, we're like, oh no, what happens is it like Bruce Willis, you know, in the movie that somebody's gonna come and get us. Or Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.
A
Ghost in ghost.
B
Yeah. You know. Yeah. Everybody goes to heaven. First of all, there was a movie out in the 1980s called All Dogs Go to Heaven. Well, all people go to heaven too. All spirits are pure love. Hell doesn't exist. The whole evil spirit thing is just nonsense. It was. Has been propagated by cultures and religions and civilizations to control the masses over the years. And I've heard this a bazillion times from spirit. All spirits are pure love. So we are attached to a body. Our spirit's the main part of us. We're attached to a body when we're having a human existence. And I went through 12 years of Catholic schools, and I'm. I'm now a cafeteria Catholic. So I take what makes sense to me and I leave. I don't agree with. And so I was taught in Catholic school, Jim, that the spirit or the soul, they mean the same thing. I use spirit because I think soul has a religious connection to it. Perhaps it's just from how I was raised, but in 12 years of Catholic schools, I learned that the spirit or the soul is someplace in the chest area. And that's not what I perceive. What I perceive now is that the spirit's the main part of us and the body is inside the spirit. Now think about. Have you ever seen a depiction of a religious figure, perhaps in a painting.
A
With the halos, and they have a.
B
Halo around their head or halo around their body? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's their spirit, that's their aura, that's their energy field. It's all the same thing. And those painters, those old master masters, paintings, like painters like Leonardo da Vinci and, you know.
A
Sure.
B
All those guys, they could see that I believe, around people. I think everybody's been able to. Amazing since the beginning of time. So when we're dying, the spirit exits through the top of the head, starts to detach from the body, and it hangs on. And it looks like a cartoon speech bubble to me. You know, think of where the cartoon characters thoughts or comments are. Yeah, yeah. And it hangs on to the top of the head. I call that phase one. What I've coined the whole transition process as the 12 phases of transition. And the first time I saw all of this, Jim, was with my own mother when she was dying in 2002. And I'd never been around anybody at the end of their life before, so I'd never seen what it was like to watch somebody die, first of all. And secondly, I'd been studying the woo woo stuff for a while that point, and I. I felt like the lady of justice statue, you know, balancing, like, the scales. On one side, my heart was breaking because my mother was dying very unexpectedly. And on the other side, I was seeing all this glorious stuff from the spirit world night. And it. And it was just remarkable and amazing. And so it really helped balance what was going on. So with my mother, the first spirit to show up and this surprised the daylights on me was my meemaw, my grandmother, who had died six months before my mother was dying. And that really surprised me. I thought, God certainly has, like a death and departure department in heaven. And.
A
Okay, number 1 04, that's right.
B
Mary Jo Ryan's dying in Columbus, Ohio. So we need to dispatch, you know, an angel there to help run the show. That's not what happens. And I've seen those thousands and thousands of times now. So my me boss shows up, and then my mother's father, his spirit shows up. Now, he died in 1938 when my mother was 12. He was a detective in the Columbus, Ohio Police Department who was killed in the line of duty. So I had never met him, but I'd certainly seen pictures of him. So let's say for conversation's sake, let's talk about my mother. She's in a bed. My grandmother and my grandfather are at her feet. They're spirits and they're there. And then my grandmother, my memaway, brought in angels. She was running the show. It's a maternal spirit always that runs the show from the spirit world. And it's the maternal spirit, either the birth mother or the adoptive mother. It's the mother that raises the person who's dying. The birth mother, when in an adoption case, is there, but it's the adopted mother, it's the one that raises the charge. Yeah. To remember a couple of other things as we go through these phases. Number one, I had so many people throughout the years, so many women usually Jim, that say, oh, my mom was just awful. She's like this person I would want bedside at when I'm dying. And I'd say that was her personality. Remember, that was a role she was playing in that lifetime. Personality stays with the body. When somebody dies, all spirits are pure love, which is a different way of thinking about it. That's number one. Number two, everybody goes through the 12 phases of transition, regardless of if they die instantly, like in the case of a homicide or suicide, or if they die over a prolonged period of time. Days, weeks, months, even years. You know, somebody's got, let's say, cancer and they're dying, you know, or Alzheimer's. A lot of times somebody with Alzheimer's, it'll be a long time, you know, as they're transitioning. So they call in the angels. The maternal spirit calls in the angels. And of course, I'm a Catholic girl. Big angels, she swings. White gown, bare feet, rope belt. Is that what they really look like? That's what I was taught they look like. And spirit's always going to show up in a way that's going to make sense to us in our human frame of reference. Somebody growing up in the middle of the jungle in the Amazon, in an indigenous culture, they see angel energy is just a blob of purple haze. So they're always going to show up to us in a way that presents. So the angels show up and they, with the parent spirits, form a circle around the person who's dying. As they get closer to death, that circle opens up into a horseshoe and eventually a straight line cross the foot of the bed. For this exam, many other spirits come in. The maternal spirit brings in other spirits from all of the lifetimes. And the thing that's so fun about that gym is they're in period dress. Wow. I may see cavemen people and renaissance people and 1960s twiggy women, you know, in miniskirts and white. Go, go boots and stuff like that.
A
Like how.
B
So that's wild. I normally can describe different spirits that are there. Pet spirits come in.
A
I was going to ask if your.
B
Pets come in too, pet the person's ever had in their lifetime. And I can always tell if somebody grew up on a farm or perhaps lives on a farm now. And I'll say, did your mom live on a farm or did she grow up on a farm? And they'll say, yeah. And I'll say, okay, well, here's this horse. You know, there's cows, there's chicks, there's ducks.
A
Right, right.
B
You know, they'll say, oh yeah, that's Molly, her cow. Her pet cow.
A
Molly the cow.
B
Yeah, yeah. And, and so as I'm describing this to the family, and sometimes the person who's dying is part of the conversation as well. It brings in so much comfort because there's no way I could know this stuff. And I'm describing these people who they can, they can name. Based on the description. By the way, university based research shows that 90% of people see the spirits of deceased Loved ones and pets at the end of their lives. 90%. So we think Grandma's just hallucinating because of the morphine that hospice has given her. No, she's not. She's actually able to see and communicate with her deceased mother's spirit, perhaps, who died 60 years ago. And every medical provider who's worked with somebody at the end of their lives has had instances where their patient has reached up, like they're greeting somebody or they're hugging somebody, or they're talking to somebody, like in the corner of the room. And. Or. Or the patient will say, who are all these people? What are all these people doing here? And the nurse is looking around going, yeah, it's just you and me, honey. But they know icu, ccu, er, hospice, Hospice. You know, even the funeral directors, they all have many, many stories of.
A
I'm sure they do.
B
Family telling them about their loved ones, seeing others. So more spirits continue to arrive. The angels have. Now, let's say they are open into a straight line across the foot of the bed. And I call that angelic crowd control in the room, Jim. That they look like dots on the horizon. Yeah. Yeah. A couple of interesting nuances that happen around phase. Between phase five and phase six, there are two extra angels that show up, and they position themselves on either side of the spirit bubble that's attached to the top of the person's head. When this happened with my mother, I thought this could be interesting. I'm not sure what their role is going to be, but I know that they're going to be part of helping my mother's spirit separate from her body. Around phase nine, those two angels on either side of the spirit bubble, their wings start to move. And they reminded me, with my mom, Jim, of like a giant owl. If you've ever seen a giant owl in person or on a documentary, perhaps. Their wings are slow and they're silent and they're rhythmic. You can almost feel the drag when you're watching an owl, you know, going after some prey, usually. So I'm watching this with my mom, and what I'm noticing is that there's a vortex forming above her head. And the vortex is being formed by the angels movement of their wings. I thought, all right, now, this vortex, I could see it, I could feel it, I could hear it. And it reminded me of being in a car wash where at the end they turn on the dryer and it's sucking all the water off your car. It had this strong upward suction. And I thought, this is how her Spirit's going to evacuate from her body. And that is in fact, what happened. So when I was writing my book Angelic Attendance, what really happens as we transition from this life to the next? I was led to do some research about. I just put in the search bar wings, vortex, owl. Come to find out, Jim. There's this aeronautical engineering phenomenon called the wingtip vortex.
A
Wow.
B
And if you do an Internet search on wingtip vortex, you will see thousands of articles and illustrations and photographs and information that every pilot knows that anything that flies, whether it be a jet, a plane, a bug, a bird, the way that the air goes over and underneath the wings causes a vortex. That causes lift. That's what makes the plane lift and fly. And I thought, oh, my goodness, this is something that is being created by angels in the spirit world. I can see it, I can hear it, I can feel it. There's an aeronautical engineering explanation for it, and it's what caused the lift to help my mother's spirit evacuate from her body and detect and then those angels carry the spirit to heaven. Another interesting point, if I may real quickly again, at my mother's funeral, I. It was Catholic, and there are a bunch of priests on the altar and there's a prayer set at the end of every Roman Catholic funeral. And it's called In Paradisum, which in Latin, when you translate it into English is Into Paradise. And it talks about how the angels and your loved ones will greet you and lead you into paradise. And I thought, I have heard that prayer a bazillion times at every Catholic funeral I've ever attended. But I really heard it at my mom's funeral because I saw it.
A
You saw it too, right? Reinforces that.
B
Yeah. So when I was writing Angelic Attendance, I thought, I wonder where that prayer originated. And I learned that it began as a 5th century Gregorian chant. And I thought, well, perhaps it took till the 5th century, till somebody was well educated enough that they could read and write. And certainly back then, some of the most learned people were men living in monasteries and synagogues. They were the scribes. And I have to believe based on that, that people have been able to see these phases of transition since the beginning of time. And perhaps as we've become more well educated and more proof based, we've forgotten what people have been able to see all along.
A
Sure. And that makes sense too. That's amazing. And you hit on a couple of points. And when being part of the process or being present when somebody passes, I have fortunately or unfortunately, I have a friend who's a hospice nurse and she thinks it's the greatest gift of all to be by someone's side when they pass. Right, I'll, I'll go with that. And some of the things that you mentioned were spot on. I remember when my father passed, he was having a full on conversation with someone and it was just the two of us in the room and his eyes were closed. Right. So he was, he was nearing the end and I'm convinced he didn't want me there when it was his time to pass because the hospice nurses said, oh, you can go home, don't worry about it, nothing's going to happen. I got home and probably 25, 30 minutes later I got a call thinking that, oh, I need to bring something. And it was someone saying, and I put it on speakerphone with my, at that point, 10 year old, 9 year old son because I was just thinking, oh, they just need slippers or something, you know, And I got the message and then he's immediately is inconsolable and I, it's okay, it's okay. It's trying to calm him down and also listen. So then I had to go. But it was, I was convinced that he didn't want me there because I'd already seen it with a few others and it can be traumatic.
B
You're absolutely right. Every funeral director, every critical care medical provider has many, many stories about the family waited till or the family left and the person passed. The family been there holding vigil for days.
A
Right.
B
They were gone 10 minutes and then the person passed. One of my favorite stories is an ICU nurse and, and her patient flatlined and she went up to him and she said, no, you can't go, you need to come back because your brother's on the way and he's flying in and he'll be here in about 15 minutes. And the, the line went up, the heartbeat came back.
A
Wow.
B
The patients regained, you know, a heartbeat and then the brother arrived and was there and spent maybe 10 minutes with them. And then, and then the person, the patient died after the brother arrived. I love that story. I heard that from a nurse who's a client.
A
That's just amazing. Well, let's, let's talk quickly about your course that's coming up in October in Atlanta so people can have an understanding of what they may expect in attending.
B
Sure. People come in from all over America and abroad. I know we have people coming in from Europe. It's so much fun and it's such an amazing weekend that I have a few Dozen graduate volunteers that come in at their own expense. Jim. Just to be there to help the students. I think that speaks more volumes than anything.
A
Yeah.
B
And so we rent out a hotel. It's adjacent to the Atlanta airport. And we, we learn remote viewing, communication with spirit, pet communication, medical intuition, energy healing, past life stuff. The 12 phases of transition. How to tell when somebody's dying, how to communicate with that person who's dying, how to communicate with the spirits that are in the room. And everybody can do this stuff. We all have the ability, we all come in with the hardware and it's just a matter of developing and enhancing it. If you think about it, most of us have had the experience where we think of somebody and we think, oh gosh, you know, I need to call Stanley. And then Stanley emails you or texts you or calls you, or you run into Stanley and you say, stanley, I've just been thinking about you. Isn't that a coincidence? No, that's your intuitive ability. Likewise those of us with children and grandchildren. When a child bruises their knees or gets a boo boo, what do they do? They come over, we kiss it. You know, we dry their tears, we give them a hug and send them on their way. What are we doing? We're healing them.
A
Right.
B
We're using energy even though we're not aware of it. We're using energy to help heal our loved ones. When we pray, same thing. What are we doing? It's collective energy. So it's just a matter of developing and enhancing it so everybody in the class can learn to do this stuff like I did. And they're all doing it within the first couple of hours, which they just love. And it's so much fun. People say to me, after they teach, they, after. And it's. Hundreds of people have been through the class. I do it online in the spring and I do it in person in the fall. And they say, you always say how much fun it is. And I thought, eh, how much fun is this going to be? And oh my God, you're not kidding. It is so much fun. We just have a blast.
A
That's so awesome. That is fantastic. And we'll. I'll put a reminder out at the end of the show about that again.
B
Yeah.
A
How to get in touch or schedule that. Sign up for it.
B
Right, right. We have a discounted rate on rooms. You know, I mean the meals are wonderful. It's, it's all, it's like, it's like a spa weekend almost. You know, with the, with the, it's like a Southern Garden party.
A
Oh, that's cool. Yeah, I can't wait. Well, okay. It's musical question time.
B
Oh, great.
A
Hooray. Well, this is the part of the show when I get a chance to ask the guests some musical questions. And I really do believe that music is the tie that binds and that each of us has a soundtrack that accompanies their life if they just take a moment to think about it. So we're going to dive right on in.
B
I always have music in my head going in the background. Do you?
A
I have music. Well, aside from the tinnitus. Yeah, I. I do work on that.
B
I can help you fix that.
A
Oh, I would love that. Absolutely. It's been going on far too long. Okay, so what was the first song you fell in love with on the radio or one that you heard and you can remember saying, I can't wait to hear that one again?
B
Well, I remember being a little kid, and I'm one of four, and we were all in the bathtub at the same time, and we would sing at the top of our lungs, Downtown. Downtown. From Petula Clark. Exactly.
A
Yeah.
B
So I thought that's it. That's the first thing that came to my head was being in the bathtub with my siblings and a screaming Downtown.
A
That's excellent. That's a great one.
B
Yeah.
A
Did your family have a song that everyone would belt out on road trips or vacations that you went on?
B
No, but. But there's a song that was sung to me that I sung to my son when he was a baby. And my grandsons. I have five grandsons through marriage.
A
Wow.
B
And it's Baa Baa Black Sheep. Baa Baa Black Sheep. And I remember being a little, teeny, teeny kid and having that sung to me, my. My mother and my grandmother. And so I then carried on the tradition and I rocked my son to sleep every night and sang Baa Baa Black Sheep to him.
A
How cool.
B
And then when my grandsons, who were all grown and, you know, either in college or I have the youngest one's a senior in high school, soon to graduate when they were all babies and they would spend the night at Mimi and Granddad's house, I would rock them to sleep and sing Baa Black Sheep to them.
A
Wow. What a great story. I love that. So I'm going to ask you this one. What was your favorite song that you and your friends would belt out your. Let's say your senior year in high school, in the car, were you just rolling down the windows and screaming away, staying Alive.
B
Staying alive. Gigi's. Yeah.
A
Love that one. Do you happen to have a song that gets the positive juices flowing?
B
I do, actually. I have two. And the first one is Impossible from Cinderella. Rodgers and Hammerstein, the play. It's possible for a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage. It's talking about Woo. Woo.
A
Yeah.
B
It's possible for mice and rats to turn into fitness footman and all of that. And then the other one is Sweet Home Alabama. So those two. And I live in Birmingham and go to the Bama games and they blast that.
A
I'm sure they do.
B
It's kind of a tagline in my show because I always say, sending you lots of love from sweet home Alabama. Here comes my laser beam from sweet home Alabama.
A
That's awesome.
B
Yeah.
A
I'm gonna ask you one more musical question for today.
B
Okay.
A
And this is. Happens to be one of my favorites. Sometimes there are songs that you hear that ring so true that they can stop you in your tracks. And the song's lyrics sound like they were written either specifically for you or by you. What's that song?
B
Open a New Window by Jerry Herman from Mame. Can you tell I love Broadway tunes And a little.
A
A little.
B
And open a new window, open a new door, travel a new highway. That's never been tried before before. And I think it's about, you know, don't be stagnant in your life. Try new things. Because when we're creating something, people always think, okay, I'm going to manifest this. I'm just going to do these affirmations. Well, you got to take action.
A
Sure.
B
And so open a new window is when the other one that comes to mind with that is what a Fool believes by Michael McDonald and Loggins. You know, that. That we believe what we see, and we see what we believe. So if something feels badly, look at it from a different perspective. Because if we're feeling badly about something, we're basing our perspective in fear. And the key is, is it a real fear or is it a fake fear? And 99.9% of the time, it's a fake fear that holds us back. So I love that song, too. What a Fool Believes.
A
That's a good one. You're. I'll. I'll tell you what, you have a few firsts in there for the songs, for sure. Sure.
