Ebro Darden
Things are working okay.
Rosenberg
We back 8, 4, 4 ELR ELR 3. I think we gotta take some phone calls today. Who's hot on these? Intern. We got accused of algo hustling. It was all fraudulent and fake.
Ebro Darden
Oh, yeah. When we came in and planned that. I'm just so glad people know me well enough to know that if I act out of character like that, you know, it's planned and I'm obviously kidding. No, they know me well enough to. I would never get ever.
Rosenberg
It's never happened before.
Ebro Darden
No, not on this show. We don't get out of pocket on this show.
Rosenberg
Well, that was the other one. I was. I was told so many times that, like, I mean, you guys don't get like that.
Ebro Darden
It really speaks to the fact that no one was seeing and hearing our show.
Rosenberg
It really.
Ebro Darden
That's the main lesson I learned because multiple people, mad people hit me being like, yo, are you good? I was like, you know, that wasn't
Rosenberg
that was not even.
Ebro Darden
That was.
Rosenberg
On a really scale. That wasn't even a.
Ebro Darden
It was pretty.
Rosenberg
That was like an ELR3. We've been 10 before.
Ebro Darden
It sounded. I get why it would sound very intense cursing. But if you continued, like, we really
Rosenberg
didn't even curse that much. We bitched and ho.
Ebro Darden
And it was all within, like 45 seconds.
Rosenberg
I didn't even get to a S. My D. No.
Ebro Darden
Which means, you know, nothing even happened.
Rosenberg
If I would have got to a S, my D level, that's a four
Ebro Darden
now, which I've been there. Oh, yeah. It wasn't. So, like. Not to say it wasn't entertaining or it wasn't crazy or any of those things. And I. Not to say I don't have mixed feelings about doing things like that at 46 years old in public. And you forget that people are watching the whole thing.
Ebony McMorris
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
But it really wasn't very irregular for this. This dynamic. This has happened before.
Laura Stylez
I had somebody very close to us call me concerned.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Laura Stylez
And I was like, wait a second. I was like, what do you think? I was like, it's fine. I was like, if you watch the rest of the episode, everybody made up and continued. I was like, we even spoke to some kids from a program afterwards.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. But. But again, we. Now we're doing the thing we can't do.
Laura Stylez
What?
Ebro Darden
No one watches the whole episode.
Laura Stylez
Yeah, yeah.
Rosenberg
They only saw the clip.
Ebro Darden
So the people who were with us at the beginning and they, you know, our people who are watching us live right now, they probably have more of an idea of. It wasn't that deep.
Laura Stylez
Ye.
Ebro Darden
But when you just saw, you know, shout out to our guy Danny from the stop. Got it up and out quick. And if you just saw that clip moving around with whatever the caption was, depending where you saw it, I guess I understand why you would have felt that way. You know, of course it was intense.
Laura Stylez
I mean, it was definitely algo hustling.
Ebro Darden
I saw people trying to get in on the algo hustling. These different investment places were reposting it
Rosenberg
to be like, yo, shout to my man. Ian Dunlap.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, Ian Dunlap jumps master investor.
Rosenberg
He'll be on the show Monday. He wants.
Ebro Darden
Whoa. He wants to jump in right now?
Rosenberg
Well, I asked him. Oh, I asked him to. What do you got over there, Griff Combo. Katie, you would like to mediate a little bit? Look, she's jumping in on. Maybe she does mediation professionally.
Ebro Darden
Katie,
Laura Stylez
Katie.
Rosenberg
Well, Katie, you're not good at mediating. Let's just leave that there no mediation, no level, no nothing. Griff.
Laura Stylez
All right.
Ebro Darden
Really?
Rosenberg
0, 0, 0, 0 Nothing. Okay, but what'd you say?
Ebro Darden
I'll try to get her back.
Rosenberg
Oh, yeah, try to get her back. But. But, yeah, no, I. It was. I still, like, I didn't re. Watch it. I saw people's clips. Let's watch it. Let's watch it quick.
Ebro Darden
You want to relive the moment, but make sure you show us.
Rosenberg
Well, I want to see. But I want to see how. I want to see how we got to him calling me a. And then like, I want to see the lead up to the first.
Laura Stylez
Okay.
Rosenberg
That's why I said you don't have money to invest. No, this ain't it. Actively doing. That's not enough.
Ebro Darden
But that's.
Rosenberg
That's not a slight. You wouldn't be having this convo with me if you had money to invest. You would have been made. No, that's not the lead up.
Ebro Darden
It's still not. I think it's before the first, but it's skipping stuff. Bro, you sound like a dick. Shut the up.
Rosenberg
So you sound like
Ebro Darden
you use.
Rosenberg
No, you sound like an. Because.
Ebro Darden
Shut the up.
Rosenberg
You know?
Ebro Darden
And you're a ho.
Rosenberg
Let me tell you why you're. Let me tell you why you're a ho. Let me tell you why.
Ebro Darden
Ebro doing this.
Rosenberg
You just called me a for no reason.
Ebro Darden
Let me tell you why you're a ho. Is wild. Like that's old man in the bay on the port right there,
Laura Stylez
pointing at each other.
Ebro Darden
What's wrong with you? We keep going.
Rosenberg
You don't.
Ebro Darden
You keep saying the same. You don't.
Laura Stylez
But you don't know that.
Ebro Darden
And I'mma keep calling you a if you keep saying that.
Rosenberg
Listen, man, if you had money to invest. If you had money to invest. If you had money to invest.
Ebro Darden
Stop saying.
Rosenberg
You wouldn't be talking like you're talking right now.
Ebro Darden
No, no, it's because I don't understand the disrespect repeatedly, bro, because. And you're wrong. Sound nuts that I said I don't know people.
Rosenberg
No, you don't know that. I don't know.
Ebro Darden
But that was our little crowd.
Rosenberg
There is no crowd. There's people that have money and you talk to them. That's it.
Laura Stylez
Both of you guys sound like dicks. Just stop.
Ebro Darden
But you just don't understand when you say things that are incredibly slighting. How do you not know that? It's like the Drake thing over and over again. You say shit and you go, why? I Didn't. Bro, I'm not mad at you. You just kept saying, all I said was the Roc Nation thing. I don't understand it. I don't know people like that. And you go, well, it's because you don't have money to invest.
Rosenberg
Well, and now I get also why, seeing it back for the first time, I also get why people think it's related to Roc Nation. Because what you said right there. But I wasn't even talking about rock.
Ebro Darden
It was. But it was Rock Nation before it, Right. And then after it.
Rosenberg
Right. Because Roc Nation isn't a place where you go invest.
Ebro Darden
No, but it was about. The essence of the discussion was. And this is maybe a different conversation. I said, charlemagne, I did learn from that fake interview that Charlamagne is a little compromised potentially when talking about things related to Roc Nation.
Rosenberg
Right. And that's because he is in bed with.
Ebro Darden
And you said, just because you're investing with people doesn't mean that you wouldn't. That you're compromised. And that's where we ended up.
Rosenberg
Right, right, right.
Ebro Darden
And I do want to say, in my defense, I did call him a dick before I went bitch. And dick is between guys a way different level than bitch. I tried dick. And then he said, I see your dick and I raise you asshole. And then I went, well, now there's only one place to go.
Rosenberg
I gotta call you a bitch. Yeah, but. Yeah, but I do think, like, you know, watching the discourse, right. And the amount of people that thought I was trying to son you, which wasn't my intention, is more indicative of how people don't understand the financial world. Right.
Ebro Darden
Well, you. Because you're trying to say that there's language you were using that did not mean what you were.
Rosenberg
There's language that's been used towards myself that I was using that people are like, yo, you're being mean. You're acting like he's broke. Not having money. And we covered this yesterday, not having money to invest doesn't equate broke.
Laura Stylez
No, but I don't think that's it. I don't think it's. What you said is how you said it.
Ebro Darden
Well, I disagree though, Laura. I think it's both. Yes, it is how he said it. Because then after the first time, what? He started being indignant. And.
Rosenberg
Yeah, I was being.
Ebro Darden
Now being that guy.
Laura Stylez
Because I was trying to say you don't have extra money to.
Ebro Darden
But I don't even think you're saying that. I think you're using terminology.
Rosenberg
I think.
Ebro Darden
Are you trying to Say that when you say you don't have money to invest, that means you're not doing, like, I don't know how much money you have, but you clearly don't have money that you want to put out as an investment. Yes, but it's almost terminology that connotes something different. Then if you're not in the investing world, you just hear you don't have money. And you're like, no, no, I have money to invest if I want. And you're like, well, then invest it. I'm like, well, I don't want to. It's like, well, then you don't have money to invest. And I'm like, no, no, but I do have money. And you're saying, no, but you don't have money to invest. But that's a term, right? That would be like me.
Rosenberg
And that's why I say the discourse was around, like, me trying to. And you know, obviously people who don't look for investments and aren't actively looking for investments, and that's not their life, they think people who invest have money. I know people who invest to try to make money, that's their life they don't really have. That's their job.
Ebro Darden
Right. That's how they make money.
Rosenberg
That's how they make money. And they don't really have money to buy a house.
Ebro Darden
No. Because everything's an investment.
Rosenberg
Everything's tied up in something. Right. And that's. They're actively trying to. They. That's what they do. And so I think that there's some understanding, which is why I want to have Ian Dunlap on. Because. And because he posted it, because he text me. Because he understood and was like, yo, I totally agree with you. I get into this all the time with people.
Ebro Darden
But it. Wouldn't it be comparable somewhat to me being like, you know, okay, I'm talking to you about wrestling. And I'm. And I'm telling you that me and Damian Priest are talking about a thing. We want to do a sketch. And I'm saying, I'm like, nah, he wants to work. And I don't want to work. I want it to be legit. I don't want to work. And you would jump in a bike. Well, that's because. Typical. You're lazy. You don't want to work. And I'm like, no, no, no, no, I don't.
Rosenberg
Talking about working, I don't mean the job.
Ebro Darden
I don't want to work. I don't want to work people. And you'd be like, I get over
Rosenberg
on people or do an act or whatever. Right.
Ebro Darden
I think that's kind of what.
Rosenberg
Kind of similar. Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Because you kept saying money to invest, and I'm. Listen, I'm not a big money flexer, as anybody knows. I don't really. As I talked about last week, my love for HOV has nothing to do with his business achievements. I'm not like a business. It's not my thing I'm passionate about. However, I am proud of the little life I've scrapped together over my 20 years hustling in media. So when you just kept saying, you don't have money, I'm like, yo, bro, I don't flex on anyone, but I do.
Laura Stylez
All right.
Ebro Darden
What are you talking about? I got some money to invest if I need to.
Rosenberg
Right. But you're thinking about. You think I'm talking about your bank account.
Ebro Darden
Correct.
Rosenberg
And I'm not. Not at all.
Ebro Darden
It's more. You're talking about a mentality, comfort level.
Rosenberg
Well, like, for instance, after. In the. After that segment, we started talking about Ricardo.
Laura Stylez
Yeah.
Rosenberg
Guess who's got money to invest? Ricardo. All the time.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Rosenberg
And in mad things that I would be like, yo, I don't have money for that.
Ebro Darden
No. In fact, literally, Ricardo gave me an opportunity to invest in something, and I was scared to do it.
Laura Stylez
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And I thought it was a good idea. And I was like, I don't know.
Laura Stylez
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And in retrospect, I'm like, why not? It's not that much money.
Rosenberg
Right.
Ebro Darden
You know what I'm saying? But that's.
Ebony McMorris
I brought that up, and I was
Laura Stylez
like, you know what?
Ebony McMorris
Let me.
Ebro Darden
But no, it's a good point, though, because it does kind of make the point, like, yeah, I have the money, but, yeah, I guess I don't have the money to invest because I'm not trying to do it.
Rosenberg
That's right.
Ebro Darden
You know what I mean?
Rosenberg
Right.
Ebro Darden
For whatever reason, I thought it was a very good idea. I loved everything about it.
Rosenberg
And the nuance in there is cultural or learned or however you want to look at it. Maybe cultural is not the right word. If you were raised to do that sort of thing and, like, take those chances that are calculated and you understand them, and they're like, yeah, I can do this.
Ebro Darden
But it's also part of a hustler's mentality.
Rosenberg
Yeah, but like. But, like. Like, I would. You're in the gambling apps. I'd never.
Ebro Darden
I mean, same. I bet money on the Knicks, five
Rosenberg
dollars, a hundred dollars, 150. You say, hey, me? I say, stop. It.
Ebro Darden
I'm never doing it. Wasted money. I know. By the way, for the most part, that's how I feel too. That money that was in my account, for the record, just to be clear, it was given to me by someone at FanDuel, like, hey, man, we want you to play with the thing started out with their money in it, and I just kept winning with them. I don't.
Rosenberg
But now.
Ebro Darden
But.
Rosenberg
But conversely, I know people who day trade going back to people who I know don't have money to buy a house, but literally will be like, Yo, I made $500 today off $100 day trading penny stocks.
Ebro Darden
And you're like, not for me.
Laura Stylez
No problem.
Rosenberg
I don't have the time to sit in front of a computer and read and follow charts and do all the things that they're doing and some. And. And they'll do that or money to invest. Someone says, I have $100,000 that I'm gonna put into a thing, and I'm not gonna pay attention to that thing for five years. You have money to invest, right? Because you don't need that hundred thousand dollars. You don't. You don't even need to think about it. It's just over there.
Ebro Darden
But no, and I guess this is the crux of what you're saying. That is a mentality, right? I have that, sure. Am I comfortable with it? I'm getting. As I'm getting older, I'm getting a little more comfortable. And we talked about this on a Patreon episode. But like, I come from a family where, like, when I make a decision that I want to buy something that is a good investment or something to do, my parents are like, oh, my God, are you sure? And I wonder. I really do wonder. I mean, like, my dad's dad was a businessman. Owned a. Owned a store. Went completely bankrupt. Like, lost his store multiple times.
Rosenberg
Might be something in there.
Ebro Darden
Ended up. Ended up at the, you know, in his later years, made enough money to be good, but just had his place at the flea market and just sold women's clothes. And that's what he did, you know, and they did good. They had. But listen, my grandmother's mom was. Who owned the house. She was the businesswoman who owned the house that my grandpa and my grandma lived in. And then she died. And it was their house. He had his business, but it wasn't, you know, he. And then you have my mom, whose parents were running through Europe with nothing and then get to upstate New York after the Holocaust, and both worked in a hat Factory. And my mom is like, that's what she was a part of. They go to college, they get little. My mom's a teacher, my dad works for the government. They stacked their money, got a house in a neighborhood in Maryland that of course has done well, but it's Chevy Chase. Maryland is a ball and ass area. We live in the very modest part of a ball and ass area. They got in early. Their house is now fully paid for. They get their retirement every month. Their mentality was never one of, hey, we got a little extra. Now what we should do is blah, blah, blah. So there also may be a sensitivity to me that I got to New York and I would literally meet artists who I was friendly with, who would have wads of money falling out of their pocket and would talk to me like, man, Rosenberg, I know you rich. That was all the time. And at that time, when I came to hot, I probably had five grand to my name at 27 years old, something like that. I don't know. I had no money. It was. I lived with my aunt and uncle. So all of it was a check by check.
Rosenberg
You put it in the bank, you gotta build it.
Ebro Darden
You know what I mean? And right when you. You gave us. Right when you gave us me and Scythe full time, I literally decided that day, I'm like it. I'm leaving my aunt and uncle's house in Baldwin. I'm gonna just get a little apartment in the city that I shared with two other people. And I just gotta be in the city every night. I can't be driving in here an hour to do. I gotta be here. And that day I was outside sobs and you hit me and you're like, yo, we got a little full time situation. 60 grand or something like that. I'm like, oh, boom. I'm in business. So not to give a sob story, but all of it is. It's taken me till later in life. And then of course, I meet Natalie. And Natalie's DNA is Her whole family is Rick's DNA. Yo, you got a thing. Yo, we could do a thing right now. You want to get a place? We go in a place together right now. This is like her mom's like that. It's built into who they are. Hustle and flow.
Laura Stylez
Yeah, it's different.
Ebro Darden
So I'm learning it. But for me, it's a discomfort that I've had to. Which is why Ian will be a good guest to have those conversations.
Rosenberg
Well, and also too, I think it's. I'm. I'll say it again. I said it yesterday. The reason I don't really have financial discussions on any show I've ever been on is because I think it potentially leads people to believe that it's for everyone. It's not. It's really not.
Ebro Darden
And what do you mean when you say that?
Rosenberg
Meaning jumping in on the new hot investment. Jumping in on the, you know, putting money aside on the. On the. On the thing. That might be a thing. May not be a thing, Right. You may not.
Ebro Darden
You have to be comfortable losing some.
Laura Stylez
Here I have a friend who trades, right? And I had like, lunch with her and she was like, yeah, you can't be emotional. She was like, yeah, the other day I lost. I lost 60 grand. I was like, 60 grand. She's like, you got to take the emotion out of it. There's days where I've made a hundred, two hundred. I'm like, whoa. But this is what she does for a living. She's like, you. It's money. You have to take the emotion out of it. I was like, I can't do that.
Ebro Darden
Right. It's hard. Yo, the second.
Rosenberg
And I just want to add on to four people, you know, because financial conversation, financial literacy is. Is all over the gram. And, you know, investment in this and do this and do this and plan this and do these things. There are things that I. That you can do. And I did young, like, and only because I had a friend who was like, yo, you got extra cash, you should do a thing. And I was like, all right, I'll do it. Sounds good. Not because, you know, my mom was in it. My dad definitely wasn't into these things. A retirement plan. Yeah, that is your own. That is also a life insurance plan. And you can put a couple of bucks into it. It's going to make a few. And you can take loans from it, right? So now you got to pay the loan back. And, you know, there's tax implications, etc. Etc. But it is a better option than just putting your money in a savings account because it's life insurance, it's retirement, it's these other things. And all of the places, pick one, name a commercial you saw, you know, Charles Schwab or a Prudential or Edward Jones or whatever. Pick a place. They all have different versions. And oh, by the way, when they say call such and such and such, there are people waiting to answer the phone and answer every single question you have. And, and, and no question is a bad question or stupid question. The other thing is, and we've talked about this many times on the show. And I've been saying this for years. Most people go and put their money into a, you know, checking account. Right. And they walk into a bank every day, and they know no one at the bank.
Laura Stylez
Yeah.
Rosenberg
Like, you don't know the manager. You don't know the people that sit in the little cubicles over there, what their jobs are. Maybe, you know, a teller that, you know, they have your money, they're making money on your money, like, walk in and ask questions. That's their job. Right. And you don't have to just because you're. And a lot of people are intimidated by terms, paperwork, like, we're talking about money, like these numbers. And you're like, hey, yo, you are not committing to anything by asking a question.
Laura Stylez
Listen, most people don't even know what a beneficiary is, bro.
Rosenberg
Yeah, we.
Laura Stylez
I've learned that later on in life, and I wish people would talk about retirement plans early. Like, you got in. Yeah. Because, like, nobody spoke to me about that. That's right. And, like, once you hit a stage where people start passing away in your life and you see how hard it is to get everything in line, having a beneficiary. Yo, my. When Shells passed away, I took my ass to the bank. I'm like, do I have a beneficiary? And she was like, you actually don't. And I was like, oh, my God. And I. And I had to, like, do all the work.
Ebro Darden
And you and Rick aren't married.
Laura Stylez
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
So technically, it doesn't just, like, it's not a given.
Laura Stylez
Yes. And I told him, too. And he was like, let me get it together. Let's get it together.
Rosenberg
Well, a lot of that stuff you can do on that, you can log right in. How you check your account on your app. You can go right into your app and deal with your beneficiary stuff. Right on the app.
Laura Stylez
Yeah.
Rosenberg
But I do think it's. It's a. It's a useful convo. And I. Look, you know. You know, people want the salaciousness of it all because you're talking to. We were talking about a casino in Times Square and Roc Nation and all of that, you know, and you guys are in it. You guys are. Most people are watching and in it for that discussion. You know what I mean? And everybody thinks something nefarious is going on at all times. And I got to tell you, there are people out here doing business together just because they have money to invest, not because they're aligned in any other way, other than they're interested in making money. Right. Like it's not deeper than that. There are people who are invested in nefarious things that I would never invest in like the. The prison industrial complex or you know, companies that make weapons or these things. But you don't have to be in those spaces.
Ebro Darden
You don't need a Lockheed Martin.
Rosenberg
You don't either. You don't have to be in that. Who you got in super chat.
Ebro Darden
What are you saying, Laura?
Laura Stylez
I have a be more like Cass. Five bucks.
Ebony McMorris
Thank you.
Laura Stylez
OG Work rule. Never discuss money, religion or politics. At least you guys are on the same side of politics. Hug it out. Well, are you new to the show?
Ebro Darden
Because we talk about all that stuff.
Laura Stylez
We talk about all this.
Rosenberg
Yeah, he might be new. He may have never.
Laura Stylez
More than a man 9.9. Thank you. Even the Breakfast Club jumped on the fun. Oh, I'm sure they did. Everybody was talking about this.
Rosenberg
We listen. The algo hustle was hustling yesterday. Boy.
Laura Stylez
The beginning of the downfall. Look at the seams falling apart.
Rosenberg
Now listen, if this show falls apart, it won't be because we don't get along. That won't be the thing. It'll be. It'll. It'll be because A one of us can't do it anymore because of some other obligations or.
Ebro Darden
Or B the money doesn't make sense or the money. It's been fun.
Rosenberg
We don't have money doing by the.
Ebro Darden
But I was thinking about that with our money vest. I was just thinking about it though. I was like, you know, listen, in the worst case scenario, if it all really did end up being like, it's not what we want it to be from a financial standpoint, like in a few years we were decide that we could still do a delightful one time a week podcast.
Rosenberg
Oh for sure.
Ebro Darden
I got that. Time to invest easy. That's light work.
Laura Stylez
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Hold on.
Laura Stylez
I do find it funny how like the Internet trolls like are like waiting for us to just fall apart. They couldn't believe that we stayed together and they're like, look, I've been waiting for this moment.
Rosenberg
Now that is. That is a little bit of a delight for me right when. When things happen and you see who was all waiting for you. That's a. That's delightful for me. I enjoy it.
Ebro Darden
Oh yes, there was some. We saw Drake obviously was. He was enjoying it.
Rosenberg
Well, he laughed. It was fun. I mean it was funny.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. I mean with.
Rosenberg
That's not.
Ebro Darden
How funny is this. So in the same post. So a friend Hit me up and was like, yo, keep your receipts in the comment section. You know, I was like, oh, really? Let's see who's there. And in the exact same comment section, I saw the same emoji and felt totally different when I read them. Drake left the laugh emoji.
Laura Stylez
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
And that to me, was loaded. Because there's a lot of other stuff.
Rosenberg
Yo, I didn't receive it at that. Like that at all.
Ebro Darden
You really. Yo, are you.
Rosenberg
I just looked at it.
Ebro Darden
Yo, yo mama, what's wrong with you?
Rosenberg
Well, because. No. Well, because he could have done other things right, but that's perfect.
Ebro Darden
But he's smart enough to know that's the perfect because he already was trying to clown me, saying I was broke when I was living in the other apartment.
Rosenberg
No, no, no. I received that. I received that. But it. But that's what makes it funny.
Ebro Darden
But it is funny.
Rosenberg
It's just funny.
Ebro Darden
So I'm just saying though, for me, I receive that differently as someone who used to be friendly with him and now I see him like, we put
Rosenberg
an axe up when we lost our job. Like, he already did that. But. And that's why.
Ebro Darden
That's why I took it differently, though. That's why.
Rosenberg
But.
Ebro Darden
But that's Conway putting up a laughing emoji. That is him. Like, I know both of y'.
Ebony McMorris
All.
Ebro Darden
This is funny. Fab did the same thing. Fab did the popcorn emoji. I know you guys. What's wrong with you? Again? But with. With the old Drake, I just. I didn't care, but I knew it's him like.
Rosenberg
Well, but I guess too. Even when you going. Hahaha. I seriously. Even with the ax emoji and all that, I just don't think Drake cares that much. Like, I don't think he is really. That. I think it's all a game to him. I think he's. I think there are things he cares about but us, I don't know.
Ebro Darden
Fair. Fair. I don't know if we rise to the level.
Rosenberg
Yes.
Ebro Darden
Now I know that there are other people who move around who, if they want to move with Drake, don't move with other people. My man and I love this guy. Invited him. Invited him my birthday. Love the guy. Mall is giving you every reason in the world why he didn't go to hov. My man, we know you didn't go to HOV because you're riding with OVI every. He does.
Rosenberg
I didn't know he didn't go.
Ebro Darden
He does want people to. He does take the allegiance part? Seriously, I don't think he cares about us that much. I think if we fell off the face of the earth, he'd. He'd go, ah, man, at some point. I like those guys anyway. And move on with his life. Yeah. I don't think.
Rosenberg
Or crack a joke or put up another axe emoji.
Ebro Darden
You think he'd do axe emoji if we were. If we were actually axed to death? Do you think he got for.
Rosenberg
Oh, like, we got killed. Axe.
Ebro Darden
Hatchet guy shows up, gets all of us. Not you, Laura.
Rosenberg
You get. Speaking of you, for some reason, that made me think of Freddy Krueger and Jason. You know those movies? They're rebooting those movies, right?
Laura Stylez
I hate it.
Rosenberg
Oh, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Freddy's back again.
Laura Stylez
Freddy's back.
Ebro Darden
Wait, hold on real quick. They're rebooting.
Rosenberg
Sorry, I threw a subtle tangent. Sorry. The family. Wes Craven's family got the original movie back and is relaunching Nightmare on Elm Street.
Ebro Darden
Okay, not together. You don't mean Freddy versus Jason. You mean just Freddy.
Rosenberg
Freddy. There is also a prequel called, like, Crystal Lake.
Ebro Darden
Ooh, Camp Crystal Lake. Yeah.
Rosenberg
That is. That is, like, either right after Jason dies or before.
Ebro Darden
Right before.
Rosenberg
Before. It's before he dies.
Ebro Darden
It's a TV show on Peacock.
Rosenberg
TV show on Peacock.
Ebro Darden
These TV show ones make me, like. Whether it's for a moment, a mile, or a marathon, Brooks knows that when
Rosenberg
we move together, we become something bigger than ourselves. That's the power of connection. And no matter where you are in the world, running can help you find your people.
Ebro Darden
So let's lace up and start sharing
Rosenberg
more than the road.
Ebro Darden
Let's share our stories, our motivations, and our passions.
Rosenberg
Because connection doesn't just help push us forward. It can help lift us up. Let's run there.
Ebro Darden
Learn more@brooksrunning.com I'm never sure. I mean, you could do it, but I. But nightmare, they're doing movie.
Rosenberg
I don't know. I just heard.
Ebro Darden
Remember, though, they.
Rosenberg
I wasn't that interested, but the ax
Ebro Darden
thing made me think anyways, so I don't know if Drake would leave an actual ax emoji if an ax killer found us. I don't think he cares that much.
Rosenberg
But I just want to say, for the record. For the record, if I got killed by an axe murderer. Yeah, okay. And after, everybody was like, whoever was sad and whoever was happy, you guys got through that. If someone did, I would find it funny. And in. In heaven, if they.
Ebro Darden
If you saw Drake throw up the
Rosenberg
action, I would find it. I just wanted to let y' all know I'm. That I. I would think that was fun.
Ebro Darden
I think he would write something like, oh man, not my man. And then the AX emoji. Like sarcastic.
Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
And also, of course, you know, I saw Pete Rock lurking in the comments. You know, Pete's always around there making no sense, hating on.
Laura Stylez
What did he say?
Ebro Darden
Oh, life after Hot 97. LOL. Something like that.
Rosenberg
Age troll. Yo, let's have Pete on the show. I'm reach out to Pete right now.
Ebro Darden
He's not.
Laura Stylez
I don't think he's trolling.
Rosenberg
No, no.
Ebro Darden
Pete hates you, bro.
Laura Stylez
But what.
Ebro Darden
Why does he hate me, bro?
Rosenberg
I don't know. I'm gonna find out.
Ebro Darden
I've supported everything he, the man has ever done in his life. I still play his records. The other day when I played the Joy by Jay Z, I still spin back. Pete Rock, let the needle drop.
Laura Stylez
He's.
Ebro Darden
I love his music forever. We had him on multiple times for the Common album and he sits there and hates us in comments and blames us for the downfall of hip hop and he's out of his mind.
Laura Stylez
But he was mad cool when we brought him up there. I'm like, every time I see him, he's not like, nice.
Ebro Darden
A lot of people don't think weed ever has an effect on people. Weed has broken Pete Rock. I mean, I'm sorry. His brain is filled with bong resin. The man has lost his.
Rosenberg
Well, you're not helping. Whatever you're saying right now is not helping.
Ebro Darden
Well, I don't want. At this point, I don't want to help, bro, stop.
Rosenberg
Come on, man.
Laura Stylez
Yo, okay, has he ever. Did you ever text him like, bro, we good? Like, did you ever.
Rosenberg
Why do you want to answer me this? Why do you want to go completely bad on because of IG Common?
Ebro Darden
You think saying that weed broke someone is being going completely bad? I don't know. I still love the guy.
Rosenberg
Well, you were about to say a second ago, I don't even care.
Ebro Darden
Sorry, I don't want to do that. I love him. I'll always support his music. The disrespect he's shown us intentionally, not hahaha, he's trolling. His intentional waiting on our downfall is some crazy stuff to do to people who have done nothing but support you. So now is that fair?
Laura Stylez
I agree with you because I was surprised when we left. I was surprised when you showed me the comments. I was like, Pete.
Ebro Darden
I was like, but don't forget When Pete was posting support over Kanye in mid Hitler comments, and I would respond like, yo, what are we doing here? He was coming after me for just not being in favor of Kanye while he was on a pro Hitler campaign. Okay. He was calling me out my name at that moment. And then when I reached out to him, he pretended in the chat where we've already been talking, he cursed me out and said it wasn't Pete Rock. Went off on me. I don't even know who you are. Shut the F up. Blah, blah, blah. In the same chat. We've already been chatting in. And we've chatted again in that chat as me and Pete Rock.
Laura Stylez
Yeah, this is.
Ebro Darden
No, it's. So all I'm saying is if people love people, you should tell people you're being weird. Pete, we've been good to you, bro. I don't. I really don't care about anyone. Anyone else making jokes about us. I really don't care. But for someone who admires so much musically and we've all, like, really poured into, whenever I see that, I'm like, yo, Pete DJ'd my birthday, bro. Like, I've. I saw him at say less 2 years ago with his wife and my wife. Like, what are we doing?
Rosenberg
That's weird. It's weird. No, it's definitely okay.
Ebro Darden
At least give me weird. Thank you.
Rosenberg
I'll give you it.
Ebro Darden
And also.
Rosenberg
And I realized here's the thing that, that, that after yesterday's argument, I have a thing where I've accepted that some people just don't get things. There's certain things. Well, it wasn't even after yesterday.
Ebro Darden
No, it's.
Rosenberg
It's been since, as a program director of a radio station, the amount of people who think, like the radio stations in control of making or breaking hip hop.
Ebro Darden
Which does relate to Pete, though, who blames you essentially, for make. For breaking hip hop.
Rosenberg
Yeah. Or like ruining New York. Right. Or that, that whole narrative. Right. When me and 50 got in that back and forth. And obviously people are going to take 50 side. He's celebrity and they love his music or whatever. Whatever. And they're not going to take the corporate guy side at all.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Rosenberg
That's not going to happen. But they also. It just dawned on me that most people just don't know how things work. Right. And even yesterday when I saw a lot of people disagreeing with me, I took it as, you just don't know how things work. Especially if you think that this was about me and Ro. Me trying to make Rosenberg look broke.
Ebro Darden
But don't you think that you are. Are ducking some responsibility in your communication of that. Yeah, if no one. For yesterday or in general yesterday.
Rosenberg
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Ebro Darden
If no one. I mean, you were doing it intentionally a certain point.
Rosenberg
Well, no, at a certain point, I just started to antagonize and not explain. Right. Because we were just.
Ebro Darden
Because you could have stopped at any point, been like, whoa, bro, that's not
Rosenberg
what I mean exactly. But I was antagonizing you because I saw you upset, and it was fun, but.
Ebro Darden
And then again, that. And that goes back to the ultimate question. No, and that goes back to the ultimate question, which is, yo, my man, what's wrong with you?
Rosenberg
No, that means you see what it did for the program.
Ebro Darden
I'm not the first. Am I the first person who's ever said that to you?
Rosenberg
What?
Ebro Darden
Yo, my man, what's wrong with you? Have you ever.
Rosenberg
No, it happens all the time.
Ebro Darden
You've gotten that before.
Laura Stylez
Okay, yeah, but they love.
Rosenberg
But you. But, you know, I brushed right over that. Like, if you notice in the clip, when you're like, yo, my man, what's wrong? I just kept going.
Ebro Darden
No, you just keep going.
Rosenberg
Because I was. I was already in. I was already in it. So I was like, let's just get active.
Ebro Darden
And for the record, a lot of people coming at me, a lot of comments, a lot of jokes about my voice cracking on the second bitch and things like that. You know, a lot of people commenting, a lot of people saying things. A lot of y' all out there have been mad enough to want to call this man a bitch to his face, and you were too much of a bitch to do it. I'm just saying, a lot of people have been mad at this guy before a lot, but in person, when they see him stand up, they're like, oh, I'm probably gonna keep this to myself. So they're saying a lot. But at least.
Rosenberg
But also, it should be noted that they don't know me like you know me, and I don't respect them like I respect you.
Ebro Darden
Right?
Rosenberg
This would be a big deal from a stranger.
Ebro Darden
You'd be fighting a stranger.
Rosenberg
No, I wouldn't have fought. I would have destroyed you in a. Who. Other way.
Ebro Darden
Wait, you mean with words?
Rosenberg
Words. Personal. It would have got.
Ebro Darden
Oh, not. You don't mean physical destruction.
Rosenberg
No, no, I wouldn't fight over. I'm not a. I don't fight. Like, you could say something to me. I'm not gonna.
Ebro Darden
It's never gonna be that. It's not gonna Be that it would have to be someone does something physically.
Rosenberg
Yeah. You would have to approach me in a way where I felt threatened for me to be physical.
Ebro Darden
Well, listen, don't ruin the fun. Yes, of course. The fact that we're family allows me to call you a. And not be a big deal. But I'm saying, for a lot of people laughing, they. I. I know a lot of them in the industry have had moments where they walked out like, he was a. I'll tell the way he is.
Rosenberg
He's a.
Ebro Darden
Hey, bye, bro.
Rosenberg
We'll catch you next time.
Ebro Darden
My guy. Just saying it's. Ha. It's happened. They didn't say it. They went. You know what they said when they wanted to call Ebro?
Ebony McMorris
A.
Ebro Darden
All right, I'm. I'm gonna go there. What was. What was his final line?
Rosenberg
I'm gonna cry when I get in the car.
Ebro Darden
No, what was Kodak's line on his way out the door? Oh, I'm gonna see when I see.
Ebony McMorris
When I see.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, I see what I see. You have it. Hold on. Show me the clip of when people
Rosenberg
want to call him. Sexual assault here. Serious. And we can't, you know, get in the details, but we hope, you know, to have you back so we can have a deeper conversation about that. Because, you know, this is a serious topic, and we're hearing these stories a lot.
Ebro Darden
You want to say it right there. One thing we were talking about on the show today, that for some reason I just have a hunch that you would care about is the idea that landing on the moon was a conspiracy. Great question, Peter Kodak. Do you believe that our moon landing in 1969 actually took place?
Rosenberg
What the fuck y' all talking about? You seem upset that I brought it up.
Ebro Darden
Not.
Rosenberg
Lord, I feel like sometimes when, like, we going through, like, y' all be entertained by, you know what I'm talking about. So it's like, change the subject. I'm gonna walk out. We'll change which subject? Just whatever.
Ebony McMorris
Like.
Rosenberg
Well, they tried to change the subject. They was talking about the moon landing. That's bullshit, too. So talk about something else.
Ebro Darden
Well, I was saying, I think we
Rosenberg
don't have to talk about nothing else. We could be done right here. All right, I'm going to say this.
Ebro Darden
That's a bummer. Why'd it say video? Rahsaan. Yo, y' all have highlights. Oh, credits on there. Say less. I'm going there.
Rosenberg
And that wasn't even that heated.
Ebro Darden
And then he walked out and he
Rosenberg
was like, that was you. You know, it's crazy. That's the first time I've seen that since probably that time. No, I haven't watched it really. I see the meme. But that's first time I've watched my lead in. Because I've always wondered, like, why do people think I was so mean to Kodak?
Ebro Darden
Because people. Because people don't get it. He Even to show how little he gets it, he goes. Sometimes I think when people like me are going through stuff, y' all just want to entertain shit. Nothing about the conversation that was brought up there was trying to see it as like, loose or entertaining.
Rosenberg
I was trying to give him, like,
Ebro Darden
trying to be serious.
Rosenberg
I was trying to give him space to be like, yo, I'm going through something. And maybe when I'm on the other side, we can correct. Talk about what.
Ebro Darden
I'm also covering our asses. That we're not just sitting here giving a microphone to someone who's accused of a really serious crime against a woman without saying anything.
Rosenberg
That's right.
Ebro Darden
That's all we did. And he made it sound like we were making jokes. Like, no, he didn't get it. But again, he did want to. He called you a bitch once the door closed. I guarantee you.
Laura Stylez
Guarantee you.
Ebro Darden
What else you got?
Laura Stylez
It's not even that bad. I look at it, I'm like, so
Rosenberg
you haven't seen it either?
Laura Stylez
It's been a while. It's been a while.
Ebro Darden
It wasn't that bad for people to
Laura Stylez
bring it up as crazy as they do.
Ebro Darden
I'm like, now you were worse to Uzi.
Laura Stylez
This wasn't. And Uzi was playful. It was stupid playful.
Ebro Darden
Uzi was playful too.
Laura Stylez
I'm trying to think Uzi knew that.
Ebro Darden
Well, I'm trying to think which ones. Which one we've had. That's like actually been bad.
Rosenberg
Have money behind them.
Ebro Darden
You broke. And what's that money for?
Rosenberg
Come on. And so they buy. So you're saying DJs are accepting money for entertainment? That's because that's illegal. That's what you said. But that's what you said. See, that's that.
Ebro Darden
That's that.
Rosenberg
The is people want. The only people who say like that. I'm gonna tell you the only people say like that is people who ain' the box. Ebro. This is what. So you mean to tell me this the. That say like that $50,000. $50,000 gets you up here. It gets you a ad on rap radar. That's the ad. It gets you a post up top article in a magazine. It gets all of that. So don't come up here trying to throw at when y site is the main one taking Joe. That's an ad you take, though, so people could buy commercials here, too. Yo. You mean yo, yo, yo. You mean for that do you're not gonna do an editorial down little.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, we do. And we make it known exact.
Rosenberg
That's not a post.
Ebro Darden
But it's not a post.
Rosenberg
Exactly. So you mean that tweet you sent out wasn't paid for?
Ebro Darden
Huh? You.
Rosenberg
You said.
Ebro Darden
Common thought.
Rosenberg
Yeah, but by people. No, by people who are losers. This is New York. It could probably happen in a small market. You do realize. Let me tell you something. You do realize that Elliot Spitzer ran through this radio station with a fine tooth comb in the whole city for payola. You know, the. Got in trouble. The program director at Power 105. He got fired. They ran through everybody. My background, the program, everybody. And you know what we got zero dollars. I remember that. Zero, zero. So y' all with that. Get your game up and start that. No, no, listen, listen, listen to me. Listen to me, Elliot. Hang on, hang on. Y' all gonna stop that and make good records. Listen, I'm gonna take you somewhere else. My. The only reason you got a voice is because of this nigga's relationship. You ain't did in this game.
Laura Stylez
That was very sp. Spicy.
Rosenberg
That was spicy.
Ebro Darden
No, you. Do you remember how spice that. You remember that one being spicy, though?
Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah, I remember being spicy.
Laura Stylez
I was in the next studio watching through the window, being like, april, yes, you are. You were happy, of course, because people talk bad, and when you finally see them and confront them face to face, things change. I remember that.
Rosenberg
Well, not. You know what, too. I think, you know, it's hard. It's hard. It's hard. It's hard. And it's in this world to do things the right way. And so when you take pride in doing things the right way and you always have, and people make accusations.
Ebro Darden
No, no, it's very personal.
Rosenberg
It's very personal. Especially when you're talking about something that could potentially throw your whole career away. You know what I mean? And people have been.
Ebro Darden
No, that's a serious. It's a serious thing.
Rosenberg
It's loose.
Ebro Darden
I'll never.
Rosenberg
And it's also. Here's the other part. It's also hard when. When, you know, people are taking money, right, and running around with more money than you and money to invest because they're taking money and doing deals and running around in circles and everybody's incestuous exchange of money. And you're not. You don't want to be a part of that. Right. Like, sure, you're opting out of something that you know is corrupt. Right. Like it's taking place right now where we see people grift and do different things and they try to act like, oh, this is. I'm above board. And you're like, no, you're not, bro. Like, you are really taking money to promote the things that you're promoting. And. But you're pointing at other people. Like, it's same. That scenario that I was pointing is still happening today for sure. The whole people who the. You know, the accusation is really a confession.
Ebro Darden
Yes.
Rosenberg
Like, that thing has always been on, like, where people are acting like, oh, we're just getting big interviews. No, you're paying people to come and do an interview.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Rosenberg
Or you're striking other deals and leveraging other things to get an interview. You're forcing people in. Like, that's always been happening. And when you've always tried to do things above board, like, that just reminds me how.
Ebro Darden
But that does circle back to what we talked about yesterday with the Charlemagne thing. Because the bottom line is. And again, I don't think it's that serious. But by not ever declaring. Having a working relationship in multiple ways with a big entity and then also trying to portray yourself to be an, you know, equal play commentator on all things, you can be somewhat compromised. Doesn't mean that you are. But you might be.
Rosenberg
You might be. But the person making the accusation, what the fuck are we. It was academics.
Ebro Darden
Well, that.
Rosenberg
Who's on the payroll of so many different things. Like, what do we even.
Ebro Darden
That's the ultimate. That's the ultimate. Where the accusations of confession.
Rosenberg
He's.
Ebro Darden
We all know that. And he. But he's basically openly saying it, though. His point is like, nah, I'm Team Drake. That's who I am. I'm Team Drake. I'm Team Steak. I'm team Anything. That rhymes.
Rosenberg
Team maga. I'm all of that.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, yeah. Which. Whatever the fucking part. Pardon the F bomb. I just did it. Whatever the other right wing web kick. All those different things.
Rosenberg
So, yeah, I mean, look, I think, I think. I think these discussions are helpful for people who care. I think most people just want to see the mess I think that was. And you look and you guys know I'm down for some bullshit.
Ebro Darden
We saw it yesterday. I'm down because you could have stopped at any point. But I. Hold on, let me explain. You're you're getting sensitive and I'm not talking, I'm not pocket watching you. Let me explain. But you didn't do that. Cause again, there's something wrong with you.
Rosenberg
Well, I think it was because we already went to name calling, but we,
Ebro Darden
Laura and I, Laura tried before I ever said any D or B. Even before D, I was like, yo, can you stop? And she was like, you're calling him a brokie. She said that?
Laura Stylez
And I was like, no, I tried to tell you. And then he did say, stop saying.
Ebro Darden
I said, stop saying that. And that's what leads back to like, what's wrong with you? And I think maybe have you. People, people always view me as like, rosenberg needs to get smacked. That problem is you never got smacked. When I think it's kind of the opposite. Being a small person, I always had to mind how I handle things. Right. And obviously, if I didn't have a personal relationship with you that I have, if you were, if I was a guest on your show, I would not have felt as comfortable saying what I said. But I think it's maybe reverse. You're too used to being the person in the room who probably no one's gonna do ish to.
Rosenberg
No, that's not the case.
Ebony McMorris
My whole.
Ebro Darden
Your older brother what, didn't want to smoke with you?
Rosenberg
No, it wasn't my brother. But you got to realize my cousins, my dad, my neighborhood, like, I was always the, the mixed kid who was getting picked on or like somebody was
Ebro Darden
trying to punk or something about how long it's been. You've been in, you've been in a boss ish position now for a long time, bro. Right?
Rosenberg
Yes.
Ebro Darden
Maybe 20, 20 some years. Like, think about when was the last time a good friend of you just called you a B? Word to your face. I think it's good for the soul every once in a while.
Rosenberg
Because yesterday.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Rosenberg
No, we got into an argument on cycling one day, like a few weeks.
Ebro Darden
Really?
Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
What was, what was the topic? I don't know. Was it self destruction?
Rosenberg
No, the topic wasn't. It was probably like somebody not, not respecting somebody else or like some, some shit like that. I don't remember the premise, but in cycling we always get in a little.
Ebro Darden
Now, I, I, you have to realize, though, also with yesterday again, while, while I'm a sensitive person, I'm not uber sensitive about, you know, financial things, but we're living in a world where this weekend, regular people spent their weekend trying to clown push a T because he took a commercial Flight people are idiots.
Rosenberg
Yeah, but that was the whole. That's the ovo.
Laura Stylez
It's fucking dumb.
Ebro Darden
But those are the same ops that we have. You see what I'm saying? Literally the same ops and people who are waiting to do something to post that are doing the same thing for you.
Rosenberg
Yeah, but it's all the same. Like, it's all nonsense. It's all nonsense. But they also, you know, celebrated, you know, what was it like? Wasn't it, like, academics paying Daphne Joy $4,000 for a date? Like, that's clown baby to me.
Ebro Darden
I didn't even understand what that. What that was about.
Laura Stylez
But it's that whole circle.
Rosenberg
It's just. It's just a whole thing. It's like an Internet.
Laura Stylez
The Drake fans, the Nicki fans, the Magas, they all hate us.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Rosenberg
When we had Hasan Piker up here, I didn't know that the whole stake kick, academics thing had a thing with Hasan Piker. I didn't know that.
Ebro Darden
Me neither.
Rosenberg
And I didn't even know that that was all connected. Once he said that, I was like, oh, oh, oh.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. And the Nikki people are not thrilled with me this week either. We had them waiting, too, from last week when I called her a loser.
Rosenberg
Oh, yeah, you did call her a loser.
Laura Stylez
Yeah.
Rosenberg
You went hard on Nikki, huh?
Ebro Darden
I just, like, I just. I just can't believe it sometimes.
Rosenberg
Well, the Nikki story is so bizarre and sad to me that I can't just call her.
Ebro Darden
Well, no, and you had. You had a different list. I had at one point had a friendly relationship with her. But you really did for a long time.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
So I understand that. But it is so bizarre and crazy. I just can't believe the choice. The choice is such an odd one, I think, too.
Rosenberg
I get sad. I get. I guess. Yeah. I start to feel bad for people when things.
Ebro Darden
Me too.
Rosenberg
And by the way, at that point, I just can't just call you names. I really only call you names. Like if we're in, like, a heated
Ebro Darden
debate or and you get called a bitch, in which case then you call, you go, you double down.
Rosenberg
You.
Ebro Darden
You go.
Rosenberg
Well, I just want to say to the audience, well, I just want. I called you. I eventually called you a P word. Right?
Ebro Darden
You called me an H and a P. Yeah.
Rosenberg
I just wanted to say. I wanted to go straight P, but it wasn't really, like, where I was. Well, no, because it's not what it was about. I was really trying to let you know, like, if you want to invest, you can invest. Like, you Can. And you can call people.
Ebro Darden
You did.
Rosenberg
And you're just being a hoe.
Ebro Darden
I just like, why are you being
Rosenberg
a hoe about it? Right.
Ebro Darden
Right. I just want to say that if that was the message you wanted to
Rosenberg
convey, I didn't want to escalate it beyond. No, no.
Ebro Darden
But if the pet. If the message you were trying to convey was all you. I'm trying to get you to do is say you can invest. I just want to say that as a. As a professional communicator, that was a horrible job.
Rosenberg
You know, at a certain point, I was just trolling you and antagonizing, but you have.
Ebro Darden
But that's in your DNA, too. Once it picks up, you have. You have to keep going.
Rosenberg
I'm gonna go the farthest.
Ebro Darden
You know, you won't stop.
Rosenberg
No, I won't. I will not stop.
Ebro Darden
Like, I can pretty quickly pull myself back. I think I even apologized in the argument, like, hey, I don't want to use words like that. That's not cool. But in the moment, I didn't know how to break through because you just kept repeating the thing that I'm asking you.
Rosenberg
At a certain point, I wasn't trying to have a convo anymore. Now it was just like, I'm just antagonizing.
Ebro Darden
I just want to go back to.
Laura Stylez
You went straight.
Rosenberg
Arthur, they're gonna zoom in on your hands. Somebody got it. Oh, they did this already.
Laura Stylez
Arthur memes like this everywhere song.
Rosenberg
What? What is that? What makes you do that?
Ebro Darden
No, no, it's not a real. That was actually more performative. I was being like. Because you were just being so annoying. Like, you were like. It was almost like, little brother, I'm like, you're being annoying now. Because now we're both telling. The whole room is now looking at you like, yo, my man, why are you doing this?
Laura Stylez
I'm a thumb squeezer. Like, when I get excited, I've seen you thumb squeeze. I'm a thumb squeeze.
Rosenberg
I never noticed that.
Ebro Darden
Laura's a big thumb squeezer.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Are we doing any news today?
Rosenberg
Let's get to the rundown with Laura staff.
Laura Stylez
Let's do it.
Rosenberg
Run down. Turn that up.
Ebro Darden
Screens on glow. When she pulls up.
Rosenberg
Headlines heavy, but we still caught up. Life still flashing.
Ebro Darden
We don't slow up.
Laura Stylez
So Deonna Taylor was trending, man. People were talking ish about her, you know, her performance at Jay Z's Extra innings concert. She made this beautiful post, basically, I guess, you know, just saying, listen, the gratitude was louder than any mic could ever be. And she shared a lengthy, beautiful, grateful post. But, you know, people were coming at her because they're saying she didn't sound great. And she did talk about, like, there was some technical issues and, like, sound issues, but I'm not gonna leave her alone, man. First of all, that is such a. A hard position to be, especially when Beyonce just did it two days ago. But I just feel like, give her some grace. Tina is amazing.
Rosenberg
But I just want to. I just want to say to everybody out there, and I'm glad Teyana Taylor handled it the way she.
Laura Stylez
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Well, I would just like to say that when you're as hot as Teyana Taylor, she didn't even need to come out with a mic. She could have had no mic altogether. Just come out and walked around and went back inside of him. Like, that was pretty good performance.
Rosenberg
When Tiana was out, came out. I didn't a. I didn't expect it. Bia loved it. I was like, yo, this girl, man.
Ebro Darden
That's the year of a lifetime, bro.
Rosenberg
No, it's incredible.
Ebro Darden
The run is. The run is insane. People just. She didn't need to dignify it. I get why she did. I appreciate that she cares that much, bruh. People are just.
Rosenberg
Well, and she probably was gonna put up a gratitude post anyway, right? Like, just to thank Hov.
Ebro Darden
Right, Right, Sure.
Rosenberg
And honestly, adding that line in there, I know it's being framed as Teyana Taylor responds to vocal criticism, but that's not even what that is. That's really her doing a gratitude post, talking about a mic. Yes. Well, she also posted herself rehearsing for it as well.
Ebro Darden
Like videos, I think. At least two videos of her rehearsing the song.
Rosenberg
And what's that mean? You have the video. These days, you've got two choices. Buying a new car or making the
Ebro Darden
one you've got run like new. We know which one we choose.
Rosenberg

Rosenberg
That's literally in the trailer at the
Ebony McMorris
show to
Ebro Darden
who you think you are. Everyone's doing my damn R. That's right.
Ebony McMorris
Yeah. Come on.
Ebro Darden
Oh, I see the problem. The mic's not connected anymore.
Rosenberg
There you have it. So wait, what does that have to do with. What's Lou saying?
Ebro Darden
She just posted it. She posted this just to like show her.
Rosenberg
You're saying it wasn't directly.
Ebro Darden
I mean, it's a direct, like canceling the mic.
Rosenberg
And this was after the fact? This was after she post back yesterday?
Laura Stylez
Yeah. In other news, Kelly Rowland is feeling speculation that she could portray Donna Summer. Saw that in this long awaited biopic. Now she was quoted saying, I would love nothing more than that role. That's all I can say. She told Us Weekly. She was like. That's all I can say for now. Now you know she was teasing fans. Also in Instagram post feed this summer where she, you know, she took a picture resembling Donna Summer. But she's saying, I'm hoping you won't be waiting long. All of us have our fingers crossed. Toes crossed. We're totally crossed out. So they're saying that there's been conversations within the. The family. Donna Summers family. So I. This could possibly happen.
Rosenberg
Well, all I know is I need y' all to hurry up and make it happen so I can stop hearing about it in my house.
Ebro Darden
What do you mean?
Rosenberg
I have Donna Summer fans in my house. And every time Kelly Rowland pops up on an IG post to television something, she looks so much like Donna Summer. She should play Donna Summer. They need to do a Donna Summer movie with Kelly Rowland.
Ebro Darden
That's how jazz sounds.
Rosenberg
I mean, people. There's multiple people in the house.
Ebro Darden
I didn't know people thought about this.
Rosenberg
No, it's a thing.
Laura Stylez
Yeah, it is a thing.
Rosenberg
It's a thing.
Ebro Darden
I don't know enough. I don't know enough about Donna Summer to like fully understand.
Rosenberg
Well, when the biopic comes out, you have a lot to learn.
Ebro Darden
That's right.
Rosenberg
I make Donna Summer great hits, obviously big in the disco space. Space, you know, a black woman in a pop space. Like early on. Like, it was a lot of. There's a lot there with Donna.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, yeah. She is really early black artist, pop. She works hard for the money.
Rosenberg
Talk to him.
Laura Stylez
Travis Scott is being sued in a civil lawsuit by yacht crew members and marina workers over a violent altercation that occurred in Miami. And I remember when this was reported too. So they're basically Claiming that he was very intoxicated. And the conflict began when Travis demanded to take out a jet ski. And the captain was like, no. Because he appeared too intoxicated and that he got super angry. Ordered the captain to head to a nearby marina, where he jumped off. All the guests were stranded on board for, like, half an hour. And then he came back super angry and started attacking him. And then other crew members got involved. They got attacked, too.
Rosenberg
In his video, this.
Laura Stylez
I don't know if there's video of this, but they're definitely suing him for this.
Ebro Darden
You know what? I said something recently that I think I could also apply to Travis Scott. Any idea what it is?
Rosenberg
No.
Ebro Darden
Hey, my man, what's wrong with you? Listen, maybe none of these things are true, but Travis, his wild out button is. Things come up every year or two. There's. There's like. Yeah, I don't know that that's true. And also, he's now incredibly, like, billionaire, ish. Rich. So people are always.
Rosenberg
Any misstep. Any. Anything is going to a lawsuit, people going. I saw it was a term used the other day. Shopping. Was it shopping, lawsuits?
Ebro Darden
What does that mean?
Rosenberg
Oh, man, I might be screwing it up. Where there's. It's just a part of the industry of litigation where people like lawyers. It happens a lot in legislative policy where, like, Republicans will go state to state trying to do different lawsuits to change, like, voting things or change so they can get a precedent set. So then they could take it to the Supreme Court to try to change things in the Supreme Court. So they go around to try to get a legal victory in a thing.
Laura Stylez
Interesting.
Ebro Darden
That's very interesting.
Rosenberg
Interesting.
Ebro Darden
I did not.
Rosenberg
So once they get a legal. A potential legal victory, they can start to escalate the thing. But anyway, that just dawned on me, because when you have money and people want to get your money, they can find somebody. They could shop around.
Ebony McMorris
Well.
Ebro Darden
And once they see in the news that someone has had 20 different things. Did. Did. Did our DJ friend who remained nameless ever get any money from the whole thing in the club in New York when Travis went crazy on the DJ's laptop and.
Rosenberg
I have no idea.
Laura Stylez
I have no idea.
Ebro Darden
I remember that one, too.
Laura Stylez
Yeah. But there's been a lot of incidents of him being, you know, violent. So he will be a target.
Rosenberg
Come on, Trav. Yeah, they gonna target you, my boy. Pull it together.
Laura Stylez
That's the rundown.
Ebro Darden
Hey, we got a bunch more super chats. Akeem Broderick always weighing in. This is true friendship. A Dispute about something. Next day, back to chill and let the haters hate me. Elr.
Rosenberg
That's love, Hakeem Broderick.
Ebro Darden
Eric Motion says, speaking of investments, have you guys looked into this free money the Treasury Department has available for kids that Trump attached his name to? That's been a thing for a while.
Rosenberg
What, like the investment account?
Ebro Darden
Yeah, I was like, thousand dollars for your new baby?
Rosenberg
Yeah, I think so. They started it in New Jersey under Governor Murphy, too. Started in New Jersey under Governor Murphy. I think Mom, Donnie's doing something in New York City where they are making investments. You know, I'm looking into it.
Laura Stylez
So I don't know. Did you say Grim BK Mexico is suing the US Over Mexican immigrants dying in ICE custody? Yeah, I saw that.
Ebro Darden
Wow. Really?
Rosenberg
Yes.
Laura Stylez
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And actually, we're gonna. We have Ebony McMorris today, don't we?
Rosenberg
We do have Ebony McMorris checking in from D.C. today. We're gonna, you know, Trump's supposed to talk this week, so we're gonna catch up with Ebony down there in D.C. we also have Joy Reid on the program this week. Tomorrow. Is that tomorrow? Yeah, tomorrow she'll be on the program, so we'll get into some more politics. I had a good time with the, with the, with the Internet. I would just want to thank the Internet for all the promo between yesterday and today.
Ebro Darden
Well, it's really two days ago because it started with the good Jay Z episode a few days ago.
Rosenberg
Yeah. Solid week.
Ebro Darden
So it ended up.
Rosenberg
Ends up being solid.
Ebro Darden
And, and, and, and I do wish that I will say when people say, like, man, I. I gotta know, was that, Was that a work y' all just playing? I really do. People. I wish I was that calculated. Like, because there are people who fake things.
Rosenberg
Well, no, no, no, no, no. So it could have been de. Escalated earlier. And we'll give. We'll give you guys a little behind the curtain. We've been doing this together so long, and we didn't even show, like, red, Red face. By the way. We've been doing this so long, and for those that have watched the program a long time, Red Face Rosenberg is a thing like, it's like, literally, like.
Ebro Darden
And I don't even think if I'm being. If you're being honest, you go watch
Rosenberg
the video yesterday, wasn't it?
Ebro Darden
I didn't really go there.
Rosenberg
But that's my point. My point is, is we've had so many instances of, like, especially when we worked earlier. Full, full crash out. Full crash out in so many ways. Yesterday. Yesterday. I guess you could call it a work in a way, because it could have been de. Escalated it and I could have.
Ebro Darden
But that's everything you do.
Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah. But that's.
Ebro Darden
You could have de Escalated.
Rosenberg
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Ebro Darden
Right, right.
Laura Stylez
I just think people haven't seen anything heated and dispassionate on this platform. So they're like, there's a lot of new people.
Rosenberg
But I wasn't gonna let. I wasn't gonna let Charlemagne academics one up us, you know what I'm saying? We had to come with some heat the following week.
Ebro Darden
Now we want. We should have not talked for a week and then planned a. A sit down in an all white room.
Rosenberg
No. We could have went at each other on social media for a week. Going to be like, we could have actually. Yo, we.
Ebro Darden
Oh, yeah. Ebro admits his work. EO admits they fake algorithm hustle.
Rosenberg
That's right. We could have. You know what we could have did? We could have let yesterday happen. Not come to work today. Like black screen.
Ebro Darden
See, we're whack, bro.
Rosenberg
That's how you do it, right? Drag this out.
Ebro Darden
Or Laura just comes in and she's like, I'm going to do the best I can. They didn't want to be here today. I hope we'll. Maybe we'll be back tomorrow. That would have been the play.
Rosenberg
And then hit the rundown button. All slow and lonely by herself.
Ebro Darden
And then just read the stories and
Rosenberg
like, okay, it's time for the gurus. And did the whole thing.
Ebro Darden
Had to breathe and everything all by herself.
Rosenberg
Beautiful queen Ebro. Don't ever play yourself. You're not a guru.
Laura Stylez
The original gurus. Gmail.com theoriginalgurus gmail.com Write to us. Where the gurus unite to shine the light.
Ebro Darden
That's right. That's right.
Laura Stylez
You broker in this stage. Hi, Rosenberg. Who's writing to us? Who needs us?
Ebro Darden
The original gurusmail.com the original gurusmail.com, your destination for clarity. Coming to you from sunny east la. Now, I'm no native. I actually moved to Los Angeles six months ago in pursuit of my goals to be in the entertainment industry. While I have many passions, film being one of them, I'm starting my bachelor's program for directing next month. By the way, it seems odd to be a dreamer in this climate. I'm in my early 30s, and I can't help but notice my generational peers seeming to lose their spark, their vigor for achieving their goals. Some started Having families, while others shifted lofty ambitions to more practical things, which I completely understand. However, I can't see myself giving in. I'm a single man, no kids, and I'm holding a delusion that I can achieve my highest dreams. As persons so close to many who have achieved great things and many who have burned out trying. What advice would you give to not only myself, but to anyone within this current state of the world who have bright eyes and want to do great things in this lifetime? I understand the harsh truths of pursuing an entertainment career. Career. But for the ones you've seen, make it happen, including yourselves, what insight could you impart to this late bloomer? Your voices are treasured. Keep rocking. P.S. when I do make it and start promoting my work, I want to come on your show. You guys are very much part of the dream.
Rosenberg
Oh, man, that's dope.
Laura Stylez
That's nice.
Ebro Darden
I didn't. Did he say exactly how old he was?
Rosenberg
No. That's what I was waiting for the whole time.
Ebro Darden
I feel like his friends, he said, are early 30s. He has friends that are getting married and having kids.
Rosenberg
What is he dreaming about? Career.
Ebro Darden
Film.
Rosenberg
Film.
Ebro Darden
Move to LA. I'm in my early 30s.
Laura Stylez
Okay. All right. So young.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, man.
Rosenberg
I think you can go for it, man. You don't have children? Not married?
Ebro Darden
Nope.
Rosenberg
Go for it. Go, go, go, go.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, I don't. I don't even like. It's nice that you want advice from us, but, like, you're obviously already doing the thing. You're not. You're going to for it. Like, be smart. Make sure you're setting up a little nest egg, if you can. Whether you're waiting tables, whatever job you're doing on the side to keep this thing going, you got to put some.
Laura Stylez
I would say that, too. Just make sure you have a little financial stability now, you know, so you don't pour everything into this project and then you're like, I literally have nothing. $0 to my name. I think you can do both.
Rosenberg
Now there is a huge slowdown in Hollywood.
Ebro Darden
Yes. Hollywood's not.
Rosenberg
There has been stories. You want to read on this before you make your move, because maybe LA is not the location, right? Like, they have production companies and movies being made a lot in Toronto, in Vancouver, New Jersey. New Jersey has a bunch of. What are the. I don't know, the Lionsgate and all of these.
Laura Stylez
Netflix.
Rosenberg
Is Netflix in New Jersey now making stuff?
Laura Stylez
Yeah.
Rosenberg
What'd you say, Louis? Okay, Nerc. But I only say that because I don't know if you Want to be, you know, like get a job working for an actual production company so you're closer to how this stuff gets made and financed.
Ebro Darden
But he's in la. I mean, that's still. There's still lots of opportunity.
Rosenberg
There's lots. I just wanted to say maybe. Maybe it's LA is not the only maybe. Have multiple options. Sure, maybe.
Laura Stylez
Yeah. And I will say study the business because it's like there's so many opportunities to get your content out now. You know, there's also smaller companies that will take your like. Like to be. You know what I mean? There's companies that were looking for creatives or.
Rosenberg
What about Zeus?
Laura Stylez
I mean, if you. I don't know if you want to go that way.
Ebro Darden
I hear they're putting on concerts now.
Rosenberg
Well, yeah, they're on Summer J. Oh, yeah.
Ebro Darden
I hadn't heard which one it was.
Rosenberg
Come on, sir.
Ebro Darden
No, but wait, no, wait.
Rosenberg
Don't do that. Yo, True nobody. You said to me. I said Zeus. I don't. And honestly, I don't watch either one, so I don't know the difference.
Ebro Darden
I think. Well, respectfully to Zeus, okay. I. I don't want to speak out of school here. I think to be on a totally different level than Zeus, to be kind of up got.
Laura Stylez
Okay, like two Bs. Does actual like. Like movies.
Ebro Darden
There's fairly big. I mean, listen, I'm not saying Zeus doesn't have anything. Maybe it does. But to be owned by Fox and is. There's a lot of big stuff on tubing.
Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro Darden
But there's also.
Rosenberg
I was really not familiar.
Ebro Darden
Also a lot of crap on tubi. There's a lot of. Lot of stuff on there, period. But just know it's a grind and yeah, you're absolutely not too old to get there. And yo, bro, I'm still pursuing dreams. We're all still pursuing things we want to pursue this.
Rosenberg
You.
Ebro Darden
That is the. Not everyone in your friend group is going to do that, bro. I have friends whose kids are all about to go to college. We're all the same age. I have a daughter who's a year and a half because of the path that I took.
Laura Stylez
Correct.
Ebro Darden
So your path is going to be different. You just got to get comfortable with those things. And from yo guys, I am now a full two years into my TV project and I am still awaiting. Is the next step happening? Yo, it's for. Just be prepared that whatever route it's for ever, bro. And I don't know if it's gonna happen. I feel good But I'm like, how do people like to get started in this thing? Is.
Rosenberg
No, getting started is very. Which is why you need agent. You need all these other people to like, show chop you around and, and, and get you in the rooms. And while you're with most people, if this was the only thing you were doing, was waiting was doing television while you're doing this one, you'd be, oh,
Ebro Darden
yeah, you could be doing a million other things.
Rosenberg
Eight other things, maybe.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, you could come up with other projects, working with people. You could also have a day job, like, right, Go for it, bro. We got.
Rosenberg
You got. Only thing you got. Only thing you have to lose, honestly, in a scenario like this is you know yourself. Because what you don't want to have happen is you regret never shooting the shot. Right. Like, when I moved to New York. I moved to New York when I was 28. Is that right? 28, something like that. No, 27. 28, something like that. And 2003, January 2003, for a job. But I came for a job. But going. I was already successful, you know, and comfortable where I was and making more money. So I took less money to come to New York. And I told myself at the time, now's the time to do it. I didn't have any kids. I wasn't married.
Laura Stylez
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rosenberg
And so if I'm gonna go in this industry, if you go to New York and you're successful, you could probably get a job anyway. And so I took the shot and I'm still here now. I have a family and a whole career, and I'll probably retire here. You know what I mean? So game changer. It's a game changer, but you gotta get in and you gotta get active and you gotta be focused, you know?
Laura Stylez
I mean, good luck, sir. We're rooting for you.
Rosenberg
Before we get up out of here, let's bring in. We had a conversation with Ebony McMorris yesterday, our white House correspondent. So before we wrap the show, let's get to that clip of us Talking to Ebony McMorris, checking in on the show, our White House correspondent. That sounds official. Crazy. You like that? Yeah, I like it. Ebony McMorris. How are you?
Ebony McMorris
I'm doing good on this hop hot day, let me tell you. So the sins of this world are burning us up out here.
Rosenberg
Yo, listen. Yeah, we are in the, in the precipice of a heat wave that started just today. But you out there is getting hot because you got a big Trump speech that you got to cover this Thursday. What do we expect to hear from Trump this Thursday?
Ebony McMorris
You know, he all he posted initially on is that it's going to be a 9 o' clock on Thursday. Now multiple outlets are reporting that he'll claim newly declassified intelligence proves foreign interference in the 2020 election. Everything about this second term has been about delegitimizing the 2020 election. He'll have CIA Director Radcliffe with him, Acting DNI Bill Pulte, the unqualified Acting DNI, FBI Director Cash Patel, the unqualified director and DHS Secretary Mullen unqualified again. Also being reported that he may use his speech to call Georgia Senators John Ossoff and Raphael Raphael Warnock's election illegitimate.
Ebro Darden
And is is the is it seems very obvious here, Ebony, that like this would come right after Lindsey Graham passes. Obviously with the McConnell situation we know is very in question. So a lot of question marks it seems like for the Republicans. Is that timing coincidental, you think, or is that definitely why he's trying to run the skit right now?
Ebony McMorris
So yeah, good question because I don't think it is coincidental. Let's not forget what was on the desk of Lindsey Graham, what has been on the desk of President Trump. And we talked about last week, him holding up, trying to hold up the housing bipartisan bill because of the Save America Act.
Rosenberg
Right. Which is though the Save America act is directly tied to voting in America.
Ebony McMorris
Directly tied to voting. Right. And so now that you have Lindsay Graham that has now gone on to be with somebody, we're gonna say where I'm not talking about where people souls are going. But you also have Mitch McConnell who they have propped up. He's been in the hospital for over a month.
Rosenberg
Yeah. People claim he's braid dead and they're hitting him with the weekend at birth.
Ebony McMorris
Bernie's
Rosenberg
sorry.
Ebony McMorris
So I can't, I don't know.
Rosenberg
No, I don't want you to substantiate that claim. You're our White House correspondent. You're not supposed to laugh either.
Ebro Darden
Ebony, you can't say we can to Bernie's right.
Ebony McMorris
That was a good movie. But we, we, but we see why they have got to keep this camp tight because they haven't been able to pass the Save America Act. They don't have enough votes for it. And so what the president, I think is going to do is try to pull on people to say doing this in honor of Lindsey Graham, look, he's going to try to put out all the stops. But let me just say this. Every speech that we have seen the president have, it always goes left some kind of way. He always rails in on the election. He's probably going to talk about judges that have ruled against him. He's lost several different cases. He's going to talk about Biden. He's going to say we have the greatest economy. He's probably going to talk about how affordability. It's just nonsense. But again, we say this every week. Gas prices are ticking higher. The president says that he's now going to own the Strait of Hormuz.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebony McMorris
We're living in the climate back and forth. That's dizzying.
Rosenberg
Well, and it's also just, Sorry, Laura, to you next. It's also just not true. Right. Like we have to remind ourselves we are living in a time where the words that come out of the president United States mouth just are absolute nonsense. Go ahead, Laura.
Laura Stylez
So I'm ebony.
Ebony McMorris
I'm just curious.
Laura Stylez
In the case of Asa Van Warnock, right. Let's just say he comes out and says like the election was rigged, blah, blah, blah, legally, what can happen it now? Like what's next?
Ebony McMorris
Well, what we've seen what he has been trying to do, meaning even in Georgia going and taking the the ballots. But every time a judge keeps knocking him back. Right. And so we've seen these attempts and it kind of rattles people. But here's what I want people to pay attention. I need people. What you can do personally is make sure you check your vote, make sure you know that you are that your votes haven't been knocked off the voter rolls. But because I want people to remember the millions of people whose names were knocked off voter rolls because either someone challenged their vote or the state went and did that. Don't forget this president has been pushing for states to hand over voter information. And since it is states who are supposed to handle their votes. Right. What he does do is he says, well, I'm going to pull money, right. Federal money from your state that then has a burden on the states and impacts the people. So even if a judge knocks them down, they're there are other things that we have seen this president go around and try to impact a state's ability to be able to provide funding for many of their constituents in the state. So it's like the wild, wild west in these times.
Ebro Darden
But ebony, you could go look back at your past voting record and make sure that your vote wasn't taken off the record. Is that a thing? That's a thing people could do.
Ebony McMorris
No, you can absolutely do that. But I think people need to continue to check and see. Let me tell you, the midterms aren't that far away. It may feel like it, but it's not. November is not for and so it is not far. And there's so much that can happen within that time. And so don't forget what he tried to get the postal service tried to do to not deliver. Unless Pete people unless states handed over their voting information. It's ridiculous.
Rosenberg
Well, and also I think we also have to remind ourselves because we have short term memory that the state of Georgia and Trump, you know, that conversation's been ongoing with him all the way back to 2020, claiming fraud, claiming all of these things. So he's continuing that story.
Ebro Darden
Oh yeah.
Rosenberg
You know what I mean?
Ebony McMorris
Every judge, even judges Trump appointing himself. Okay. Rejected 2020 fraud claims dozens of times. Republican led audits, rejected his own first term FBI director and AG rejected them. This is the same playbook that he's running over, over. So it's important and I like the fact that you connect the dots for your audience because this lands at the same time he's really trying to push this save act. And the same week as Hob Blanche sits for his AG confirmation hearing.
Rosenberg
Right. So it's a different way. The more they can create uncertainty amongst voters, the more it's tough for individuals running for office currently and getting ready to get into midterms to like quell that noise and have people focus on policy.
Ebro Darden
Well and then, and then also like you can't remove the fact that Warnock and osso, I mean particularly ossof seems like potential future of the Democratic Party kind of lever level politicians. So I'm sure that's not coincidental either.
Ebony McMorris
It's not. And so, and look, don't forget how Georgia showed up. Georgia. Georgia is what made him really possible for us to those those two seats really made it possible for us to even have Biden and some of the advances that we've had. So he's had an issue with Georgia. But I want to go back to one quick point that you just said. You bro, because it reminds me, I always repeat a quote that Steve Bannon said in an interview. I believe it was 2019 or could be off in the year. But he said what their intention is to spin the zone.
Rosenberg
Yep.
Ebony McMorris
That means to get you off thinking about everything else, flooding you with so much other stuff that you forget the main thing. That's my interpretation of it.
Rosenberg
No, that's 1000% what it is. Even last week where it was like we were inundated with this fear mongering around Democratic socialists. Right. And because we're accustomed to being afraid of terms that we don't quite understand, you know, but when you look at the pie. But it's like, okay, but what about the policies that they're running? Right. Like exactly what they're saying things that people like. Right. That's why they're winning elections. And so if you can keep that messaging cloudy or tough to cut through with these allegations, that's why he's doing a speech Thursday, just announced it. Whatever. Is because they're trying to control the
Ebro Darden
news cycle and they really have to do it all the way leading up to November.
Rosenberg
That's right.
Ebro Darden
So the next several months of just as much confusion and chaos as humanly possible because they know right now the numbers do not seem to favor.
Rosenberg
That's right.
Ebro Darden
To hold power.
Rosenberg
That's right.
Ebony McMorris
It doesn't these. Let me tell you something. These legislators are getting killed in their own districts. People are coming for them. And don't forget, the president's own polling is in the low 30s. He's got to do something. But let me just say this, networks don't have to carry that speech.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Ebony McMorris
They don't have to feed that machine.
Rosenberg
Yeah, but they're not gonna. They don't have the gall the wherewithal to withstand that.
Ebro Darden
And you know, CBS has run into it.
Rosenberg
Well, yeah, but corporations just with publicly traded companies that have advertisers and exist on advertising dollars cannot withstand the heat of the most powerful pulpit in the land, which is the office of the president. And nobody really wants that smoke.
Ebro Darden
Well, and when it's someone who's willing
Rosenberg
to attack individuals and jobs, he'll go after CEOs, he'll name names, he'll go after wives, he'll do all type of ebony.
Ebro Darden
The most important story facing our country, though, is the fact that I heard you injured your back this week. So let's talk about how washed you are.
Rosenberg
What happened?
Laura Stylez
I'm sorry, Ebony, let me tell you,
Ebony McMorris
I would just say this. I'm not gonna go too deep, but my bad, I have had a little slip disc from being here because I'm normally used to when Biden was in office, he would hold, you know, oval gaggles and things in his office for about 15, 20 minutes. President Trump can go off for an hour. I'm not lying. And for people who don't know, as a radio person, radio pool, I hold a boom mic. It's probably about £3, but when it's
Rosenberg
extended, right, it gets heavier.
Ebony McMorris
My doctor was like, that's about 15 pounds. He said, how long are you holding it? I said, as long as he talks. So I bent over one day, and that joker said, not today. He said, my God, that I'm getting injured.
Ebro Darden
This is very typical.
Ebony McMorris
Don't joke.
Ebro Darden
This is very typical the way this administration treats black women, though. So it's right on point.
Rosenberg
Oh, man. Damn.
Ebony McMorris
But, you know, look, anybody. And I'm people who don't know, I'm short. I'm like five feet. So I'm just like, oh, you got
Rosenberg
to get the mic over. Over his desk to get the audio.
Ebro Darden
That's a lot.
Ebony McMorris
Let me tell you what they. It's in crazy sometimes here, but that's what it is. So that we could represent the voice of the unheard. But I do want to end on this with everything that we said. Remember, power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Rosenberg
Well, Ebony McMorris, our White House correspondent here on ELR, thank you for your time today, and we will connect with you next week to get the update on the going zones.
Ebony McMorris
Absolutely. Love y'. All.
Rosenberg
All right, love you. You call it a podcast.
