Ebro Darden
Just don't call it a podcast.
DJ Envy
Hey,
Ebro Darden
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay,
Ebro Darden
Rosenberg, what's the big story in your world? What's like top of top of the top for you?
Peter Rosenberg
Feels like the mom Donnie thing. Feels like the mom Donnie. You know, simultaneously putting his foot down while lifting his foot up.
Ebro Darden
Well, I didn't. So I only saw the headline. I didn't really listen. I sent it over, but I didn't. I didn't. I was getting an injection in my knee and then I went home to. So I had just planned my next knee surgery.
Peter Rosenberg
That's. Well, that's important stuff, too. Yeah, I had just watched it when you sent it.
Ebro Darden
Got it.
Peter Rosenberg
It's worth watching because it sets the table for what's happening or not happening.
Ebro Darden
Well, let's have a look. See?
Peter Rosenberg
This is Mayor Zoran Mamdani of New York.
Guest Speaker
Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal, the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people. He is responsible for the killing of more than 73,000 people. For the maiming of tens of thousands of children as those who survive undergo amputation without anesthesia. For the targeting of neonatal hospitals and maternity care centers, denying newborns even the chance to live. For the countless people he starved as he blocked food and humanitarian aid from reaching them. For the gunning down of hundreds of aid workers and journalists. And just last month, the UN confirmed that Palestinian children continue to be deliberately targeted and killed by Israeli armed forces more than eight months after the so called ceasefire. The list goes on and on. All as we as Americans pay for the bombs that do the killing, there is a reason the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest. As human beings, we have spent generations building a shared understanding that there are crimes so grave, they offend all of humanity. Anyone with their eyes, with their heart, with their conscience should recognize the devastation he has wrought and understand that he belongs before a court of law. As I've said, I agree with the ICC that Benjamin Netanyahu should be arrested and tried for his crimes as I do for anyone else charged by the icc. My administration has reviewed every avenue available under applicable law to determine whether New York City could execute the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant if Benjamin Netanyahu came here. It is clear that we do not have the independent legal authority to. To enforce this warrant. The federal government, however, does. And I call on them to join the ICC and execute this warrant. And I want to be equally clear. Benjamin Netanyahu is not welcome in New York City, nor is any other War criminal at large. While we cannot end the genocide on our own, we can decide whether our silence will become another weapon. And we can examine every tool we have to defend the humanity and dignity of the. Of all people. That is my commitment to you.
Ebro Darden
So more of nothing yet?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, no, it sounds like. It sounds like he's not gonna be able to do anything. They explored it and it's a no. We're not gonna be like, doing. If you're expecting something like arrest to happen. It's not happening.
Ebro Darden
But we're gonna use our voice. I'm gonna use my platform, my pulpit to make sure it's clear where I stand.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Where I stand. I'm not gonna back off of it and have it be a thing that keeps. I keep getting asked about in every single interview.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's just have the conversation right now. I. I want him arrested. I can't do it. Hey, Trump, will y' all do it? No, they won't.
DJ Envy
And.
Peter Rosenberg
But I mean, it is, you know, it's. It's pretty crazy to me that Netanyahu wants this spectacle. That's. That's. It's not crazy. This is what he does. He obviously thinks creating more division and getting the MAGA now pro Israel crazies all riled up will engender more hatred towards mom. Donnie, he. He's clearly doing it with some sort of purpose. Besides the idea, Ebro, that he just really wants to go to the UN where people are gonna walk out on his speech and boo him. Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Cuz that already happened and it's definitely gonna happen again.
Peter Rosenberg
It's not gonna go well.
Ebro Darden
I'm looking for the news story about the judge from the icc. I think I brought this up on the show before. I don't know if I sent it to the group and I definitely know we have never aired it. The judge who and the judges. I think there's seven from the icc, the International Criminal Court, who were sanctioned by the United States of America. One of the guys. I don't know if all of them, but one of the guys can't use his credit cards or his banks.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah, I remember that. We did discuss that. You never shown.
Ebro Darden
I don't know if we ever actually showed the.
Peter Rosenberg
What I'm looking for here is, you know, I saw Laura just jumping in from Hawaii.
Ebro Darden
She's not in Hawaii.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean Japan. Sorry.
Laura LaRosa
Further.
Peter Rosenberg
Sorry. She's further than Hawaii. Yeah. I don't want to shortchange her a couple thousand miles. She's in. What'd you say? She's not in Osaka. She's in Okinawa.
Ebro Darden
Okinawa. Excuse me. I was closer than you.
Peter Rosenberg
You were definitely. Well, yeah, you were.
DJ Envy
So.
Peter Rosenberg
No. But you didn't see her jump in the chat yesterday? No, she jumped in the chat just to tell me. I'm defending you in the comments against so and so.
Ebro Darden
Who.
Peter Rosenberg
Who is who?
Ebro Darden
Who is she defending you again?
Peter Rosenberg
The people in the comments.
Ebro Darden
And who are the people in the comments?
Peter Rosenberg
I don't know. And. But I'm like, why? I didn't even know that this was happening.
Ebro Darden
What needed to be defended. What action did you take?
Peter Rosenberg
I gave clapping emojis to Mamdani's post.
Ebro Darden
And is that bad?
Peter Rosenberg
We doing this?
Ebro Darden
You think?
Peter Rosenberg
No, but. You think people saw my name and clapping emojis on the post of mom Donnie saying he wants to arrest Bibi. They saw my Jew name. And you don't think people out there were in the. You're a sellout mode? Come on.
Ebro Darden
Oh, those people.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, but the point is, I'm just saying Laura's a trouble starter because I didn't need to know.
Ebro Darden
I didn't even think about those people. I only. I thought people saw your name and immediately just ignored that you were clapping and called you a zionazi. Anyway.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, you were on the other side.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, I was over there. I was like, no, I don't.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't think they were there.
Ebro Darden
Got it.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't think they got to it yet, at least. Yeah, but then Laura. I did look, and Laura was in there putting her foot down.
Ebro Darden
What was she saying? Give Laura some shine. She's riding out. Laura, why are you on Instagram over there?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, stop. You're in Okinawa. Just be on the beach, she wrote. So this guy, this guy Herbert Holler, I just wanted to know, is he related to William M. Haller?
Ebro Darden
I thought it was William H. No,
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, hov is William H. Holler? Yeah, I think Clue was William M. Haller.
Ebro Darden
Got it. Okay.
Louie
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
I cackle at random hip hop stuff from that, like, era that I love. Okay. He wrote to me, you betrayed your own people. Okay, I guess Lauren knows William A. Jala and said, how? Please explain. And he said, hey, Laura, been a minute. Hope all is well. Peter knows exactly what I mean. Ask him to tell you when the cameras are off.
DJ Envy
Mmm.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't.
Ebro Darden
I know you don't.
Peter Rosenberg
When the cameras are off. Okay.
Ebro Darden
Why wouldn't you say it? When the cameras are on?
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. I don't know.
Ebro Darden
Are you a different person when the cameras are off? Are you behind the scenes like at meetings.
Peter Rosenberg
Laura said, I'm not done. Or jumped in. She wrote back to him, said, no, I would rather hear it from you here. Since you called him out publicly, please inform us. Yo, Laura had time. She's in Okinawa, she's on vacation, she's at the beach.
Ebro Darden
She wanted some smoke. She missed the smoke.
Peter Rosenberg
And she said, then this guy responds. This forum, this app, it is built on calling things people out, not conversation and in depth analysis. I wouldn't ask Peter to explain fully why he's clapping for someone who's propagating anti Semitic blood libels. One of my favorite terms, I think that was made up around the last couple of years.
Ebro Darden
What Blood library. What does it mean people use? You're liable for blood, like in, like in court, like you're.
Peter Rosenberg
That people have been using it. People have been using it to say that anyone who's anti Israel is blood libel. I don't know, it's just, it's, it's become a catch all. Like this is what you're doing. And contributing to the exponential increase in hate crimes against his own people.
Ebro Darden
I'd say that the crimes that Israel and Netanyahu are committing are contributing more. No, no, me.
Peter Rosenberg
No me, bro, me. I, Peter Rosenberg, Jewish hip hop radio host. Me speaking out some against genocide and what this man has done that is causing the anti Semitism.
Ebro Darden
Oh, well, here you go. Blood libel or ritual murder libel. Also, blood accusation is an anti Semitic trope which falsely accuses Jews of murdering Christians in order to use their blood in a performative in a performance of religious rituals.
Peter Rosenberg
So I don't even understand what that means. I responded to his long rambling and said, if you think supporting BB's murder of children makes you more Jewish than me, you are lost beyond all measure. I know more than you. I was born into this. And you were playing yourself by even commenting, go DJ a bar mitzvah in Roslyn.
Ebro Darden
Roslyn.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't know.
Ebro Darden
Where's Roslyn?
Peter Rosenberg
Long Island. Lovely, lovely part of Long Island.
Ebro Darden
Got it.
DJ Envy
Yeah, sure.
Ebro Darden
And why'd you tell him to go do a bar mitzvah there?
Peter Rosenberg
Because I know he's a DJ and he is obviously very Jewish. So if that's going to be your whole thing is trying to call out other Jews on their, you know.
Ebro Darden
Well, what's Rosalind got to do with it? Is it a Jewish neighborhood? Yeah, it's pretty Jewish. Didn't know that.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, I know.
Ebro Darden
We have it. We all. We learned something today. He hit me. Roslyn Blood libel. I mean, we're learning. First things first.
Peter Rosenberg
Hit me with the classic, too. Hamas uses children as shields and weapons first thing out of the gate. You don't get that first every day. That's as big as blood libel that one gets thrown around.
Ebro Darden
You know, it's been proven false, like completely false, by various investigations that the whole, like, beheading of babies and raping of October 7th was untrue.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, the beheading of babies and stuff.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. Like this whole beheaded. They beheaded babies and raped people and all that people have said for the longest. I've read multiple articles that it was proven not true. Didn't happen.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm not that moved by that, though, because I don't like getting into that part of the back and forth, because what they did was still evil and horrible. So it seems to me like you end up saying it and it sounds like. So look, October 7th wasn't really bad.
Ebro Darden
Oh, I see what you're saying.
Peter Rosenberg
Which. Which I don't think is the argument you're trying to make.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
But I know the argument you're trying to make, which is that Israel has consistently put out false information.
Ebro Darden
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
That even though October 7th was horrible, they said we could add more to this.
Ebro Darden
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
And make it sound more horrible.
Ebro Darden
That's right.
Peter Rosenberg
But, yeah, that's why I just don't end up going down that path. But he. I just want to say one last thing on this because this is interesting. He says they use children as shields. They fight from schools and hospitals. They give children guns. This is their strategy. Do you think that's a lie? I do. Some of it, at least. And I would never say to any fellow Jew, I'm more Jewish than you. I haven't stepped foot in a shul in probably two years. I don't keep shot, miss nor kosher, but I am. My people, you and I are related, whether you understand it or not. We are all. When they come for us, they're coming for all of us. You too. The conditions Mom Donnie sets for acceptable Jewry, abide by them or not. Mezuzah or not, Yarmulke or not. Doesn't matter how many times you say genocide, they're putting you on the train to the people you're talking about have never put us on trains. The people who like the people who put us on trains are the ones claiming they side with Israel. They're the ones with Mein Kampf next to their bed.
Ebro Darden
You're talking about the Christian nationalists and Trump who.
Peter Rosenberg
They make you feel safe People like Zoran Mamdani. Zoran Mamdani Brown progressives in America have never and sorry Will never have the power to put us on trains. That's the thing about this whole making the left scary. I'm not saying there aren't some Jew haters on the left or that at some of those protests there aren't some people that.
Ebro Darden
I'm like, whoa, wait, you're saying there's bigots and racists and, and, and, and people who hate marginalized groups on both sides?
Peter Rosenberg
I'm saying that.
Ebro Darden
Oh, but only Revelation Hot take.
Peter Rosenberg
But this is important because they don't get it because I've seen it. Only one side's bigots and racists have the power to do. Do anything about it.
Ebro Darden
Or in recent history, only one side has actually done something or, or even
Peter Rosenberg
shown they want to do that.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
So why Laura do that? I was minding my own business.
Ebro Darden
I don't know. You got into. You took your glasses off and everything.
Peter Rosenberg
You got focused glasses back on.
Ebro Darden
I'm sure she's back on. Now you chilling. William M. How William H. William M. And William.
Peter Rosenberg
Why they make a name based on William H. Macy? Because you know, it's based on the, it has to be based on the actor William H. Macy.
Ebro Darden
I. I don't know William Amhala.
Peter Rosenberg
I just. We have to find out.
Ebro Darden
I, I was never, I was never big into like the, the co. Opting of like Italian names or these other like names.
Peter Rosenberg
But that's not even that. That's not what this is. It's the most.
Ebro Darden
Well, like Gambino, like, I got it. Like, it was like, oh, we're a mob, we're the mafia, we're this.
Peter Rosenberg
But William H. Macy's just a random actor.
Ebro Darden
Are you sure that's what it is?
Peter Rosenberg
No, but like, he was really popular at the time. And the idea that you would do William initial something you. Because you remember who William H. Macy is, right?
Ebro Darden
I mean, I know the name. I can't put a face to it.
Peter Rosenberg
If you saw him though, you'd be like, oh yeah, he was in a lot of movies.
Ebro Darden
I'm good with. Oh yeah, he was in a lot of movies. I'm great at that. You know, I'm the best. I'm the best. I'm the best with. Somebody's like, hey, you know this actor? I'm like, I can't picture this. I've seen him in mad movies. I know it.
Peter Rosenberg
He was, he was big in a lot. What's it? What's what's? He most known for Griff biggest thing
Ebro Darden
was that that wine movie. 844 ELR ELR 3 Do you know why Clue and Hove decided to call themselves William H. And William M. Halla?
Peter Rosenberg
I think it was Clue and Hove. I'm pretty sure.
Ebro Darden
Wait, what? Oh thanks. Griff was ready. He wanted me to know who William H. Macy was.
Peter Rosenberg
Let's see.
Ebro Darden
Yep, I know him very well.
Peter Rosenberg
You know him very well. And then he's the star of Shameless
Ebro Darden
and he's got a great mustache, so maybe that's why they went with it.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't even think he had the mustache then. At that time he was in Magnolia. I believe Magnolia was a really big movie at that time, if you recall
Ebro Darden
Speaking of racists and bigots so Rosenberg yesterday reported on responding to Clay Travis who I learned who he was yesterday who said Breaking news, the Athletic and the Atlantic announced brand new podcast with Jamel Hill Ryan Clark, 25Real Ryan Clark, 25Co Hosting. It's called White People is Evil. Rosenberg responded. I love when bigots deny the idea of racism existing while simultaneously using disparaging racial tropes to prove the point. It's amazing that you can make it this far and be this unintelligent. Clay Travis responded, I saw my tweet makes fun of left wing sports media companies mostly run by woke white executives platforming black people to divisively argue white people are racist as the entire basis of the shows. But you're too dumb to see this so I have to explain it to you. Congrats, bud.
Peter Rosenberg
What does that have to do with you using is instead of are in it? Because that was the racist part, you idiot. That was the racist part. The other part you could have done, I would have disagreed. But if he wanted to do Ooh, Ryan Clark and Jamel Hill are gonna do a show called White People are Evil. Now you're making the point I disagree with it that they're gonna do some woke show you decided to do is evil cuz you're a racist and you think black people are dumb. That's what you think black people use bad grammar. That was the joke.
Ebro Darden
Well the other part I think that's often missed in this discussion is the fact that the most popular sports in the United States of America are dominated by black athletes. And so a gazelle, gazillions and trillions and billions of dollars is made watching black athleticism entertain a mostly white population of the United States.
Peter Rosenberg
So far I'm following you.
Ebro Darden
Okay, those people running around entertaining you are also human beings who come from communities and have proud, likely have family members that are dealing with the fallout of the current presidential administration and just the institutionalized racism that is a part
Peter Rosenberg
of our nation built into it.
Ebro Darden
Yep. So oftentimes when you have other black folks with a platform who are also covering said athletes who are also black, and issues come up that maybe bump into politics, bump into athletics politics, bumping into athleticism and athletes and watching sports, they're going to cover it as such with the backdrop that is our nation, which is based in racial dynamics and racism and enslavement of their ancestors, et cetera, et cetera. And, oh, the institutionalized part, which was basically propagated by the government of the United States to put black folks in worse neighborhoods with lack of resources or redline their neighborhoods and make the homes they bought without value or railroad their parents out of jobs and. Or not make jobs available and thus pipeline them straight into incarceration, et cetera, et cetera. These were all things that have been
Peter Rosenberg
proven, or in the case of the NFL, have a league that doesn't even look into the brain trauma around black football players because it's built into it that they thought black players were already less intelligent. So they didn't even really bother looking into what was happening to head injuries of players. So it was baked into these sports in some of the actual documentation of the sport.
Ebro Darden
That's right. So to act like you can cover sports with predominantly black athletes and it's not going to be political is the biggest.
Peter Rosenberg
Congratulations.
Ebro Darden
You played yourself. Being black is political. Being black and on television is political. Me being black and having a microphone is political. Being black and making money is political. Being black and being safe and happy and finding joy and is political. It's a. It's a revolutionary statement.
Peter Rosenberg
You're right. It's a really good point. So you're saying everything about being black in America because of the way the country was formed and can has continued to operate, is inherently political.
Ebro Darden
Yes.
Peter Rosenberg
So the idea of.
Ebro Darden
By the way, that's not. That's not. I didn't make this. I didn't make the rules. Be mad at your forefathers. Be mad at the people on the, on your money.
Peter Rosenberg
Be mad.
Ebro Darden
Be mad at the people with their names on schools who had slaves. Be mad at the people who don't want to teach this and make it, like, commonplace to understand it so that we can move forward. That's who you should be mad at yourself. Mad at trying to ignore and not talk about it. The More you ignore it and not talk about it. Just like any relationship, think of any human dynamic that you have, whether it be at work or at home or with your neighbors down the street. If you don't talk about the issues, they remain the issues
Peter Rosenberg
and will often get worse. Multiply. And also be mad at yourself for choosing to see when other white people acknowledge truth and history and all of it. You choosing to lie and pretend those people are weak. Those people are snowflakes. Those people are cowards because they want to point out the reality rather than live in this lie. By the way, someone like Klay Travis, he only has a career because he trades in race. He wasn't a good enough sports personality to make it as a sports personality, so he did the I'll be the I'll be the pro whitey. I'm the white ish. Make white people feel comfortable with my sly racism thing. That was the play. That was the playbook, and he's done it really well, and he's turned into a really successful, profitable business. But now don't turn around when someone points out that you included a very specific racial trope. And now you want to turn around and pretend like that's not built into it. That that's the thing. Why can't you guys just be proud of your racism? It defines you. That's what makes Clay Travis different than any other sports talk host. It's the racism, that little. That little spice.
Ebro Darden
But hasn't the Playbook for the last couple of generations in America has been for people who don't want to deal with history? Hasn't the playbook been this sort of like, gaslighting and acting like it doesn't exist and it's everyone else is the problem and the people wanting to deal with the issues are the problem. Hasn't that been the Playbook book, though? Like, oh, we're colorblind and there's no, we don't see these things. And I don't see people like that. And we're doing everything based on merit, you know, blah, blah, blah, blah, bing. And then we look around and you're like, wait, these people were qualified? How come they didn't get the job? Well, that's because you don't understand implicit bias. And you don't know that you're programmed to not look at the job resume that has an ethnic name on it. Or you, you don't realize, or you do realize that you just don't have any connection with people who aren't from the same community or church. Or religious background or economic brackets. So you don't even want those people in your workplace, so you don't hire them. Which is why the government had to enact things to force people who have something called implicit bias and blind spots to hire people. Right. That were qualified for the job so that they could get these opportunities. Because we live in a racialized society
Peter Rosenberg
that was turned into an idea, this made up construct of, of dei. And again, we talked about this yesterday. The Republicans, the right are generally very good at villainizing things, at packaging at night and the way they package dei. Yo Ebro. The words diversity, equity and inclusion being turned into bad words.
Ebro Darden
Well, so that's why credible marketing. So that's also why like even going back to Black Lives Matter. Remember I used to say I don't say blm.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
I say Black Lives Matter. Say the words.
Peter Rosenberg
Right.
Ebro Darden
Don't say dei, say diversity, equity, inclusion. Because when you say the words, you force people to go away. So you don't like these things divert.
Peter Rosenberg
You don't like diversity. You don't like a mix of different people.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. And you don't like equity. You don't like people having actually being helped to be on stable ground and level ground with everyone else. You don't want that. And you don't want inclusion. You don't want people included.
Peter Rosenberg
How could one defend that? How could anyone reasonable defend that?
Ebro Darden
Maybe E they struggle with. Well, because they don't want E. They don't want equity. They don't want people that were done wrong to be like supported and catching up. They don't want that. They don't want that. But on that point, let's go to Lauren LaRosa from the Breakfast Club posted this. She had a. Posted this on Instagram yesterday. She said she spoke with a source close to NFL Live. And we know obviously now that Ryan Clark was informed, or we talked about this yesterday, that he was informed during the show, like during a commercial break and he was completely blindsided. My source makes it clear it's not a money thing. The network still has to pay him.
Peter Rosenberg
It's not a money thing. The network still has to pay him.
Ebro Darden
Meaning it wasn't like a money negotiation. His deal wasn't even up.
Peter Rosenberg
So his deal's almost up.
DJ Envy
Maybe.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And they probably still got to pay him out.
Peter Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro Darden
According to Lauren LaRosa from the Breakfast Club, brown girl grinding.
Peter Rosenberg
So that's her thing.
Ebro Darden
That's what it said on the, on the thing. I think she's still at Lauren. That's her brand but anyway, some others went on to say that Disney or executives at Disney leaked this Ryan Clark thing even before he saw it. Did you guys see this story, Lou? And I don't know how valid that is.
Louie
Right. So we. He learned it during the show and it came out a little. Little before he came on.
Ebro Darden
So he's on air and it's already in public.
Louie
Go out online. Right. And that's the timeline. And then during that commercial break, he had that one initial break. Then after the commercial break, he didn't come back. And then we all learned the news.
Ebro Darden
And so people are speculating that it was leaked to like, you know, right wing institutions, etc. So that they could begin to shape a narrative. That was the speculation. I don't know if that's valid or not.
Peter Rosenberg
Leaked by Disney to do that?
Ebro Darden
No, not on purpose. By Disney. Like executives or people who were privy to the information leaked it. I don't know if it was.
Peter Rosenberg
I saw another. I saw people talking about it. Obviously slightly uncomfortable for me working at the company, but I saw another story going around that one outlet, actually Clay Travis's outlet, had it.
Ebro Darden
So maybe that's what they mean.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, they had it initially and then the athletic ended up. It got sped up so the athletic could beat them to it. The way that I saw it being speculated on was the idea that I suppose they would have. You'd prefer the athletic to have it?
Louie
The athletic would be the official source.
Guest Speaker
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
Which is the New York Times.
Louie
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Not outkick.
Laura LaRosa
Shit.
Ebro Darden
I'm saying, what's out kick?
Peter Rosenberg
Clay Travis's thing.
Ebro Darden
Got it.
Louie
Right.
Ebro Darden
Does that have anything to do with kick? So it's out kick.
Peter Rosenberg
No, no, I. Apparently these people just like kick, but whereas the athletic is, you know, the. The most reputable place.
Ebro Darden
They like kick because it's almost three K's, but it's only two.
Louie
And remember, all of this wasn't supposed to be announced until Wednesday. I mean. Yeah, Wednesday.
Ebro Darden
Today's Wednesday.
Peter Rosenberg
I mean, sorry, no, Tuesday till Tuesday.
Ebro Darden
Got it.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, it was. It was a tough day.
Ebro Darden
And so, you know, look, I'm sure at some point we're gonna hear from Ryan Clark. I saw him. The pivot. I don't know when that was supposed. He had a conversation with Dana White.
Peter Rosenberg
I saw that yesterday.
Ebro Darden
Moving around. So that was.
Peter Rosenberg
I guess he taped that last week.
Ebro Darden
Probably taped that. But that was, you know, grilling Dana White about the. I forget the person's name.
Peter Rosenberg
Who was the Josh Hokut statement on Michelle Obama, the vitriol and Filth that he said about Michelle Obama. Yeah. I didn't get a chance to watch the whole clip.
Ebro Darden
Dana was basically like, look, you know, I hated it. You know, it was terrible. And we don't support that. UFC doesn't support that. And.
Peter Rosenberg
But we also don't tell people what to do. Did he say that or.
Ebro Darden
I don't. I didn't. I didn't remember hearing him say that. But he definitely. Ryan pretty much was like, why is this. Okay. And why do you got. Why aren't you guys saying or didn't say at the time, something? And which Dana, in that moment was
Peter Rosenberg
like, you know, Deci was decisive about it being terrible.
Guest Speaker
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
So there you have it.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm guessing Ryan will drop a pivot next week and talk about it himself.
Ebro Darden
I mean, that would be the. That would be the right move for him to talk about on pivot. That's his thing.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And people are pointing to this Ryan Clark. I forget the other person's name exchange on espn, maybe Peter Schrager, where he basically was like, you know, I'm a professional football player. The guy was talking. He was like, you know, I'm a professional football player. I do this. So let me explain to you how I see this kind of talk, which people were pointing to. What was that? Rasa. No, I would just say more or less. I'm paraphrasing.
Peter Rosenberg
It was a little more dismissive, maybe. It was a little.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
But even Ryan Clark was like, I'm not. I'm not saying this to be shady to you. I'm saying this to kind of explain why I'm taking the. The way I'm taking it. Right.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, Ryan end up apologizing for it. I know.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. But. Yeah, because it probably was received not how he wanted it to land. It was more about, you know, But I couldn't imagine that that exchange had something.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't think so either. I think that's people looking for a sexy, sexy reason that this ended. And so you could be like, oh, was it beef? I find that that has been done, that conversation of an athlete sort of dismissing you because you're not an athlete. As someone who's now been in the sports space for a decade, it's all the time. This is. What's the idea that I'm not saying Peter Schrager liked it, but that he was going to go home and cry in the mirror about it, or that
Ebro Darden
the executives at the company have a problem with.
Louie
Well, not.
Peter Rosenberg
They may have not liked it, but then people are like, oh my God, it's been done before. The athletes often are like, well, you didn't play the game. That's, that's often built into the exchange. So I think, I think people are reaching to look for a reason of some sort.
Ebro Darden
And you know, the real question I have for everybody watching, and maybe we could talk about this right now before we get to the rundown, as many of our media institutions, both in news and sports and music for that matter, radio, every, all the outlets alike go through these changes. Right. And more independent folks are on, you know, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc. Doing independent journalism. It feels like there will be a generation of people who don't look to these institutions at all. And so what do these institutions think they, that they're doing in the moment? They're just gunning for advertising dollars, you know, balancing their books, trying to make sure the stock price stays pretty. What exactly is. And this is a rhetorical question. I don't have the answer because yesterday when we talked, I think it's public, Right. That Disney is absorbing the NFL Network. Network. The super bowl next year will be on espn, abc. Abc, which is Disney. So I would have to imagine in this absorption of the NFL Network there were redundancies that they had to look at. Right. Like we have people doing NFL inside espn. We have people doing NFL at the NFL Network. We're going to combine those. Who are we keeping? Who are we not keeping? Because that's a. No like that. That's just. Why would we pay two different people to do the same job?
Peter Rosenberg
That's like the basic thing that happens in all come. That's the definition of redundancy. Yeah, we just have too many jobs and.
Ebro Darden
Right. And so look, maybe there is no smoke with the Ryan Clark thing. I think we speculated this yesterday. Maybe it's not. Maybe he's going to pop up on NFL Network.
Peter Rosenberg
No. Well, that would mean he's still at espn.
Ebro Darden
No, but that's what I mean, were they with, Was this like a complete severing of the relationship? Like he's been fired?
Louie
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Was that, was that what the headline was?
Peter Rosenberg
That's what, that's what's being said. He's out.
Ebro Darden
He's out.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
So, yeah, I guess it can't happen that way.
Louie
He is out.
Ebro Darden
So then that means they thought they had somebody better at the NFL, at NFL Network.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, listen, I think none of us know exactly what happened, but yeah, there's always the possibility that they're looking at the seats they have for the big. Because Ryan's big time. Right. You're not putting Ryan on. You're not moving into some small stuff. He's either at the big stuff or he's not there. That's. That's where he is, status wise. So you're looking at the seats and you're going, who do we want to be in the seats? You know, whether it's Marcus Spears and. And Mina Kimes and all the different people. Laura Rutledge and all the different people who do their football coverage. Plus now the people who are going to be coming in from NFL Network because there are other big names who were let go yesterday from espn. Tom Palacero, Carl Ravich, who's been doing baseball there for 30 years. So Ryan's not the only one. He's just the biggest star, I guess.
Ebro Darden
I guess Cam Newton.
Peter Rosenberg
But I didn't even know Cam was a. An ESPN employee. Honestly, I just. I knew he appeared on things. Did you realize Cam was even like a full time.
Louie
No, I thought he was just like a contributor.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I thought he was. I just thought he was popping on shows, so. But Cam was on that list.
Ebro Darden
I wonder if too, because we worked in places where they want, you know, these companies now want your social media and they want your podcast or they want to. And they want to control it. So if you have something, okay. Separate from the corporation that you work for, and they're like, hey, that's not our thing. Sometimes that can rub people the wrong way too. Corporations. True, true. Right. Where they're like, we want. If you're doing a podcast, it's our podcast.
DJ Envy
Mm.
Ebro Darden
That just crossed my mind right now. Where. Where Ryan has something so big with the pivot, you know, maybe that, you
Louie
know, and also this Cam.
Ebro Darden
And so does Cam. And they were. And I don't know, you know, those are their own independent things. And maybe they saw that as the Cam.
Peter Rosenberg
ESPN fit was weird to me from the beginning. I. That's why I never really saw it as like a full time thing. I never. I never saw it. Cam show feels like a podcast to me.
Laura LaRosa
His.
Peter Rosenberg
His brand and style of doing things. Ryan is like a very serious sports individual.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. But his pivot podcast is his own thing.
Peter Rosenberg
Very much so. And it's not just sports, but.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
Often can be sport.
Ebro Darden
We'll. We'll see how it goes, how it plays out. Let's get to the rundown. Laura got the rundown.
Peter Rosenberg
Turn that up. Screens on glow when she pulls up.
Ebro Darden
Headlines heavy, but we still caught up. I still flashing.
Peter Rosenberg
We don't slow up. Well, there's a lot here.
Ebro Darden
What do you got?
Peter Rosenberg
Let's see, there's. I think I. Did you see any of Lil Wayne on the Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky podcast?
Ebro Darden
No, I wasn't actually. I don't know. Maybe I did. Where he was talking about he doesn't listen to other rappers and that's how he stays original. Was that from that.
Peter Rosenberg
That was the same interview. But this is. This is one I thought that would really resonate with you.
Ebro Darden
All right.
Peter Rosenberg
And it resonated with me, too. We talk about sleep a lot on this show and how much it can affect your life. Well, if you're watching this clip, Lil Wayne explains he doesn't sleep.
Laura LaRosa
You find it hard to sleep at night?
DJ Envy
I don't sleep ever. You don't sleep Because I work so much.
Laura LaRosa
What time do you go to bed?
DJ Envy
I don't have a time.
Guest
Well, wait, do you really not sleep?
DJ Envy
No, I don't.
Laura LaRosa
I don't. How many hours?
Guest
Tell me about this, because I feel like I've had trouble sleeping. What do you do? So are you up from, like, let's say it's like midnight? You're like, okay, I'm gonna try to lay down and go to bed?
DJ Envy
No, no.
Guest
So you're never trying to lay down and go to bed?
Peter Rosenberg
You never get into bed ever?
DJ Envy
No.
Peter Rosenberg
You never get into bed?
Laura LaRosa
You know, Lil Uzi, I want to tell you something so crazy that Lil Uzi goes. He was at the studio with Shmira, and he goes. And he sits in his car and they drive him around for two hours, and that's when he sleeps, and then he just comes back to the studio.
Peter Rosenberg
Do you ever sleep when you're being driven?
DJ Envy
Nah, I don't know that life.
Laura LaRosa
How do you wake?
Guest
How do you relax? Like, how do you. Like, you have to have.
Ebro Darden
Like.
Guest
When are you like. You know what?
Peter Rosenberg
I'm gonna take a deeper.
DJ Envy
I work privately, so, you know, like. Meaning my studio is my home.
Guest
Yeah.
DJ Envy
And so when you say that's relaxation for me.
Guest
Are you working 24 7?
DJ Envy
Yes.
Laura LaRosa
But you nap though, right?
DJ Envy
He does, yeah.
Guest
Because you are writing 24 7.
DJ Envy
I don't write.
Laura LaRosa
No, he doesn't write anything. He's recording.
Ebro Darden
Yes, recording.
DJ Envy
You have to understand that I signed my first contract at 11, started doing this around seven or eight. There's not one second. Has it been the job? Yeah, it's been so long.
Guest
It's like how you experience the world.
Peter Rosenberg
I think you should lay down like that. We're Gonna joke about it.
Ebro Darden
I wasn't laughing at all. I was actually laughing.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, it's really. But if that's real, you don't get in the bed if that's real. Think about how crazy that is to not get in bed if you. You lived your whole life and days just end at times. And other times.
Ebro Darden
Well, I guess where my brain is going is because he's been rapping for so long, Lil Wayne, and he's so great at it. I could see where you know, look, we talk about 10,000 hours with the greats. Like, they just put in time and they become great at a thing. Awesome. Okay. But there is a time, you know, look, we're looking at Tiger woods deteriorate in ways that, like, we're like, yo, my man, like, you're still drinking the car. Like, what do we. What's happening? Right. And not that Tiger was just asleep. I don't know. But someone who is so obsessed with the lifestyle that they have and the one that they lead, that no one is capable of pulling them away from it for them to have balance and a healthy life. I think about that with even this. Like. Like, I love doing this. I love doing the Ebro Laura Rosenberg show. But I also love my family, and I also love sleep, and I also love feeling healthy and good. But I sit in a chair talking or interviewing or playing music six to seven hours a day. Then I get in the car for another hour, two hours.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. It's not great.
Ebro Darden
My hamstrings, my knees. Like, I gotta take care of myself.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And so I'm actively thinking about, like, yo, is this actually sustainable? At, like, who do I want to be at 60, 65?
Peter Rosenberg
But I don't think that that has to be the biggest difference.
Ebro Darden
I'm thinking about it.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. I don't think Wayne thinks about it. My guess would be he assumes that, like, him being very old is not on the table. Like, I don't think he thinks about that. I'm going to be very old. I think he thinks about going until it just stops. Well, which unfortunately, it will. Which unfortunately.
Ebro Darden
So I wish. I wish I don't know all of the people. That's a. And you told me that was a podcast or a TV show because it looked like it was being shot like, MTV Real World.
Peter Rosenberg
It's a podcast, but they shoot it very. In a very cool way where it looks like a. A sitcom kind of.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Louie
So.
Peter Rosenberg
But they're just miked and talking.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, but that's dope, because then most people Are watching podcasts on tv. So it looks like you're watching TV show, people having combo. Great move. I. I don't know if they ask, hey, do you want to sleep? Right. Because that's the next question, whether people do it or not. Right. Like, I'm sure there's people listening right now. They are watching right now. Can't sleep. Struggle. Sleeping. Matter of fact, sleeping gives them anxiety just thinking about. Just thinking about it because they want it so bad and they can't get it done at night. So now they're in this, like, spiral.
Peter Rosenberg
For sure. It's a. That's a very real mental health issue.
Ebro Darden
It's a real short. And so the next question for Wayne. You don't sleep. You don't get into bed. I heard someone say, do you nap? But I don't know if he answered the nap.
Peter Rosenberg
But when they said the thing about, like, do you ever sleep? Just getting driven around, he's like, I don't know about that lap. You don't know about sleeping in a car either, so you don't even know about sleeping. I wonder, is that a real medical thing? You think that where, like, you don't now don't know how to sleep?
Ebro Darden
I think so. I think.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't even mean not at night. I mean, you literally don't know how to sleep.
Ebro Darden
No, I. I tell people all the time that one of the greatest gifts my mom gave me was sleep, because my mom was like, yo, it is time to sleep. We're gonna breathe, we're gonna calm.
Laura LaRosa
We're gonna.
Ebro Darden
We're gonna.
Peter Rosenberg
House gets calm. We wind.
Ebro Darden
We want to wind the house down. Like it was a thing. It was. No, like, someone gets to stay in the front room listening to loud music while. No, no, no, no. We all need to go to sleep because we have stuff to do tomorrow.
Laura LaRosa
Right.
Peter Rosenberg
So we all want.
Ebro Darden
And some people's houses, they keep going. Like, there's somebody playing music upstairs, somebody's watching a movie downstairs. There's constant noise. It's not. And so I think if you grew up in an environment or you live in a neighborhood where there's constant noise outside.
Laura LaRosa
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Or the police have put up them big ass fucking. Oh, excuse my language. Those big spotlights shining on your building.
Peter Rosenberg
And you took. You took that tradition from your mom. Yes.
Ebro Darden
And in your house, very much. We wind it down.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, you wind it down.
Ebro Darden
I've even been in relationships with people who don't sleep and don't think sleep is important. And I can't do it.
Peter Rosenberg
Matter of fact, I take it so seriously. Last time I saw NASA, pulled him aside, I was like, hey, yo, my man, real quick. Great career. One of the greatest to ever do it. I idolize you. Sleep is the cousin of death. Sleep is the cousin of life.
Ebro Darden
That's facts.
Peter Rosenberg
You said a lot of things right. That was wrong. That was the most untruthful bar of all time. And it really makes me worry, though, like, when you. When you watch him talk and you think about Wayne over the years, the health issues he's had, the times when he says things that you're like, what. What are you thinking now if he's for real not sleeping, you know how much that can inform bad other, you know, bad decisions. Just struggling with bad health. Bad health is really bad. Artists love to drop that. I don't sleep. And the second they do, I'm like, it's not as though. Not as big a flex as you think. My guy, yo.
Ebro Darden
Thinking clear, getting sleep and being emotionally stable every day is super important.
Peter Rosenberg
What if you what?
Ebro Darden
Matter of fact, when we argued over the other day, when we got in our argument about money to invest, only had only had like three hours of sleep. Took a nap, came straight from the Hope show. Now that was Monday.
Peter Rosenberg
It was one more day. But you were still.
Ebro Darden
Oh, it was one more day.
Peter Rosenberg
You still weren't back in your full.
Ebro Darden
I wasn't back in my full calm.
Peter Rosenberg
So. But imagine if you now balance the fact that you don't sleep with eating like ish and drinking poison.
Ebro Darden
Oh, man, you're disaster.
Peter Rosenberg
All I'm trying to do is of the boxes to check, do as many of them well as I can because I know they're going to be meals I want to eat. And I'm certainly flawed with that. Oh, I know it's. The weekend's coming. I want to get a drink on Saturday night. I want to do these things. So what can I do? Can I at least sleep is the one that's the one you can do?
Ebro Darden
That's easy. That's right.
Peter Rosenberg
They consider it being lazy. Like, that's the most relaxing thing you can do is be in the bed. And it's healthy. And it's so healthy that scientists can't even fully quantify why it's healthy. They don't even get it. They're like, you just need it.
Ebro Darden
Well, your brain needs a reset. I think they've over the last several years documented.
Peter Rosenberg
But it's more than your brain.
Ebro Darden
And also it's everything but it's. There's A flush of, like, toxins and things that your body gets to go through while you sleep, that your brain gets to do, like, you know, I mean, like, sleeping so dope.
Peter Rosenberg
Sleeping so dope that like most animals in the world, that's all they do.
Ebro Darden
Lions sleep like 18 hours a day, by the way.
Peter Rosenberg
My, my, my sweet little bear, when he's not busy shitting in the house, he's. Yo, he's sleeping. Dogs sleep. They just want to sleep and then play and then sleep again.
Ebro Darden
It's like you said, it's because it's good for you.
Peter Rosenberg
So I just. That. Anyways, that clip affected me. I hope Wayne's all right.
Ebro Darden
Also, in the rundown, we should cover the guy who slapped the man in the back of head for the. His name is Bob Chavez. Says he lost his cool in the moment. He's a Vietnam veteran who had numerous buddies killed in the war, but he did.
Peter Rosenberg
He admitted that he lost his cool.
Ebro Darden
Admitted that he lost his cool and apologized.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh, he did?
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Listen, I would have. I would have beaten you till you couldn't walk anymore, but then I would have accepted the apology.
Ebro Darden
There you go. Are we on a tornado watch in the area again today? Not today. That was yesterday.
Louie
Yesterday.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. Okay, so every.
Peter Rosenberg
So every day now we just have storms where flooding almost ruins the entire city and then tornadoes come in.
Ebro Darden
That's right.
Peter Rosenberg
That's every day now.
Ebro Darden
Well, at least for July. Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
Whenever it rains.
Ebro Darden
At least I should say, I, you know, we're tracking it, we're watching it. There's tornadoes going through the Gulf right now. There's one they say may hit New Orleans or at least yesterday. That's what they were saying. There's one out of off Mexico, but it's not gonna, you know, out in the Pacific. That's not going to do any damage. But we're entering that season, guys. Yeah, but also is the season.
Peter Rosenberg
No, I. But also we entered a time where in the last five years when there's a big rainstorm in the Tri State, you just hear like, you know, a building drifted away. Like, it's just. It's crazy every time now.
Ebro Darden
Well, sinkholes. Yesterday there were sinkholes.
Peter Rosenberg
Sinkholes too.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, sinkholes. Flooding, shutting down of like. I think sawmill got shut down both ways because of flooding. Because when it started raining at like, I think four yesterday, it started like super storming around four here in the Tri State.
Laura LaRosa
And.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, I mean, different part, the Deegan to this thing, the Cross Bronx, the. All these, you know, definitely up in the Bronx and Headed up towards Yonkers. Tons of flooding. I don't know about Long island, but.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, I didn't hear Jersey.
Ebro Darden
Paramus in these areas gets smacked. What about your area Grip.
Peter Rosenberg
We actually had the tornado out by Willowbrook Mall.
Ebro Darden
So not only did you have the tornado watch, but you actually watched the tornado. Oh, nice. Do you want to. Can she share it? Maybe we add that family Friday, the mother in law tornado pick out in Jersey.
Peter Rosenberg
All right.
Ebro Darden
Speaking of picks, Rosenberg, you thought it was important for us to see the Pete Rock Primo boat pick. Is that for the rundown or is that for something else?
Peter Rosenberg
No, I just stumbled on it the other day. We had talked about how long my relationship went back with Pete. This is before we found out Pete was joking. And it's all coup de la. And I. And I was. I was on my hard drive yesterday. I saw this dope ass picture. No, pull it back up. It's classic, bro. Young P. With no lineup yet. But I also don't look for Pug in this photo, so I like it.
Ebro Darden
You got David Stiles, Primo.
Peter Rosenberg
It's a hell of a photo.
Ebro Darden
That's a great photo. That's classic.
Peter Rosenberg
Now, my dad sent me something yesterday I'd never seen.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
And maybe you've seen it, but I hadn't. And I could watch this for. There could be a full show breaking this down. Ebro. This could be a Patreon. Okay, 19, please.
Ebro Darden
When I say that the name Adele, what comes to mind? Oh, I've seen a good singer, Alicia Keys.
Laura LaRosa
Young performer, good writer, producer.
Ebro Darden
Taylor Swift.
Laura LaRosa
Okay, great. Great gowns, beautiful gowns.
Peter Rosenberg
Whitney Houston.
Laura LaRosa
Whitney was a. A talent. Definitely a talent. She had a gift. And baby.
Ebro Darden
And let's have chance. John's a little Nicki Minaj.
Laura LaRosa
Nicki Minaj. No, I'm gonna pass on that one.
Peter Rosenberg
I just was. There's so much to take from.
Ebro Darden
Which is what?
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I mean, the shade. There's shade throughout, right? There's different versions of shade. But when Taylor Swift just gets gowns, beautiful gowns, that's all she could say about her. Followed by Nicki Minaj. I'm gonna pass. I mean, even Alicia Keys didn't say
Ebro Darden
good singer, but she gave her good writer, performer, producer. Well, because there's.
Peter Rosenberg
But she's on it.
Ebro Darden
This is a refi. No matter. Okay. No matter what you do professionally. I wanted. Because I want to try to relate this to the audience tuned in. So let's say you are a truck driver. Okay? Carpenter. You build things.
Peter Rosenberg
I'm interested in where we're going, let's
Ebro Darden
say you're a nurse. Let's say you're a teacher even. Right. In your profession where you take pride in what you do, I'm sure you will throw shade at others who do not or who do not have the level of talent that you may have in this. I mean, hell, when you go to give blood, okay. Or they go. Or you have to take blood for a physical or whatever hell you're doing, you ever notice how some people are phenomenal at, like, getting that vein, getting that needle, and you don't feel nothing? You're like, yo, where's the lady who doesn't leave bruises on my arm and could get that needle in there? I bet you if you asked her about other nurses, she'd be like, I mean, nice people.
Peter Rosenberg
Not gonna be able to find the vein, though.
Ebro Darden
They just aren't as good as I am.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
So Aretha Franklin is literally one of the best finder. Well, no, she's just one of the best at her craft.
Peter Rosenberg
Right?
Ebro Darden
Songwriting, playing the piano, pop hits. Did it since she was 14 years old.
Peter Rosenberg
Actual voice quality, actual all the things.
Ebro Darden
So when you ask her about people who may not have all the things, she's going to point out what they do have. I don't think that, like, a lot of people are. So. Chaka Khan is similar. Chaka Khan threw shade at Mary J. Blige and was basically like, yo, why did you swing Sing sweet thing? Like that. Like, what key? What key were you in? Like, what's happening? They're the best, bro. Like, and we get in this space where we don't acknowledge the. Like, we have a problem.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, I love it. No, no, I'm the opposite.
Ebro Darden
No, by we, I mean just the greater convo. Right?
Peter Rosenberg
Like, no, sometimes I think it's important because they can give you some perspective on what people are. Even Whitney, she said incredible talent had a gift, Right? That's also telling you things.
Ebro Darden
A gift. Whitney didn't write songs, right? Aretha writes songs and plays the piano. Whitney had this instrument, a talent, a gift.
Peter Rosenberg
It was there.
Ebro Darden
That was it. I'm Aretha Franklin. I play this piano. I like these songs. And.
Peter Rosenberg
And I don't think it's singer.
Ebro Darden
I just want to point that out.
Peter Rosenberg
What?
Ebro Darden
Adele got good singer.
Peter Rosenberg
She got good singer.
Louie
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Good singer. Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
So that's actually. And by the way, when you. When at the beginning, that sounds like shade. When you watch the rest of the clip, you realize that's as good a compliment as his get is Getting giving out. She's like, nah, she really was like,
Ebro Darden
I can't believe you haven't seen that.
Peter Rosenberg
Maybe I have. And it's been.
Ebro Darden
Well, it's been chopped up in memes. The. The full video. I don't. And I don't know what the rest of it, but I've seen that long clip. I haven't seen the full interview, but it gets chopped up in memes.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, for different specific.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. Where somebody would just be like, good singer. Or, you know, they just have Aretha sitting there with like the gown.
Peter Rosenberg
The gown. But think about, like this, though. The gowns thing for Taylor is very modern.
Ebro Darden
And by the way, that's old.
Peter Rosenberg
No, this is what, 10 years old?
Ebro Darden
Yeah, maybe.
Peter Rosenberg
And then think about it. This all predates any of the Nikki thing. And she just said, I'm a pass.
Ebro Darden
But what would she say about. What would Aretha Franklin say about a rapper, though? Like, be honest.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, we'd have to.
Ebro Darden
There's sometimes like, we. We.
Laura LaRosa
Our.
Ebro Darden
Our elders don't. They didn't have. They weren't studying rap guys. They're not. They.
Peter Rosenberg
But we don't see your ass about other rappers. Maybe there are some rap artists that she'd be like, oh, I think they're. Maybe, maybe, maybe not. You think?
Ebro Darden
She said.
Peter Rosenberg
You think she wouldn't have something nice to say about Common?
Ebro Darden
Maybe maybe be like, yo, he's. He's positive. Positive guy. She's Aretha Franklin, bro.
Peter Rosenberg
Like, what do we expect?
Ebro Darden
You think she's sitting around listening to bars?
Peter Rosenberg
I think she would have been like, Eminem. Nah, he's nasty, bro.
Ebro Darden
Yo, Dylon, hot fire.
Peter Rosenberg
My top five are Dylon, Dylon.
Ebro Darden
Speaking of great MCs, yo, I gotta wrap the rundown before you go on a tangent.
Peter Rosenberg
No, it's not a tangent. It's a plug.
Ebro Darden
It draws the outside.
Peter Rosenberg
Yo, coming up.
Guest Speaker
All right.
Peter Rosenberg
After the show today, okay. Immediately following, what time we dropped Patreon.
Ebro Darden
After the show.
Peter Rosenberg
Right after the show. Ebro and I had a treat.
Ebro Darden
Nah, the illest.
Peter Rosenberg
No, this may. To some of you, if you don't know, this isn't going to sound like a big deal, but if you know, because you love this. This thing we call hip hop, yo, we sat down with Inspector Deck of Wu Tang Clan, who I have never seen outside for interviews ever, obviously. Founding member of Wu Tang solo career, half of the group Czar Face. And I'm out. If, you know, I smoke on the mic. Like smoking Joe Frazier or ibom atomically.
Ebro Darden
I mean, he's the Hell Racer or
Peter Rosenberg
it's been the rebel ins or it's been 22 long years. I'm still struggling from Cream. But we neither of us have ever talked to him. So we got.
Ebro Darden
I talked to him. I talked to him once at Summer Jam. But not like an interview like when we had booked Wu for the Summer Jam. We got them all there that time.
Peter Rosenberg
So if you're into woo and you're into the, the, the, the hip hop, Today's Patreon with Inspector Deck is fire.
Ebro Darden
No, no, no, it's great. So much so I think we got to do it in two parts.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, it's going to be.
Guest
Well.
Peter Rosenberg
We had two separate conversations. We're doing this deep rap talk and then all of a sudden after like an hour he's like, hey man, my mental health. I had these issues. I had all these things I was holding and now I'm just down to talk about it. And we were like, okay, okay, we're here for you. Let's talk about it. And the joint damn near turned into Validate Me. Like he talked about resentments towards rza.
Ebro Darden
You want to take part two and put it on Validate Me?
Peter Rosenberg
No, but it's not a bad idea because I want to go further.
Laura LaRosa
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Into the resentment stuff because he. But when was the last time you saw a rap artist of any generation, particularly the 90s generation.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Peter Rosenberg
Just be volunteering his human flaws and feelings. Like it was, it was amazing. You were just like, I never heard you talk. And now you're like, hey man, I was filled with all kinds of resentments. I thought I should be Method Man. I was. He was just so forward and lovely.
Ebro Darden
That was great convo.
Peter Rosenberg
Great guy.
Ebro Darden
So yeah, the rebel ins inspected Deck and that's today's Patreon.
Peter Rosenberg
That's today. It's coming up in five minutes.
Ebro Darden
Oh man. If you're not a subscriber to the Patreon, please do so we have the tornado. Oh, here we go. Griff's family and the whole tri state were on tornado watch, but they actually got to watch the tornado yesterday. Let's see it. Oh wow, look at that. That's a tornado.
Peter Rosenberg
Oh wow. That is a tornado.
Ebro Darden
Willowbrook Mall, Jersey Mother in law didn't do video. Huh? She wasn't doing all that. Yo, yo. With your older family members. Yo, you get what you get. So you see a tornado and you only take a photo?
Peter Rosenberg
Come on, bro, that's crazy. How do you know?
Ebro Darden
How do you not hit video on that?
Peter Rosenberg
You know, some of the olds with the way they operate their phone, the video situation, it's pretty remarkable. My mom, the amount of, like, zooming. And it's just like, it's a struggle for some reason. Like, they do pretty good. My mom responds to text. I'll take it. You know, a super chat. Yo, Shadow Khadijah says J. Cole was super fire last night. Where was J. Cole? Was he here?
Ebro Darden
I think Philly. He's in Philly. I'm trying to. Yo, that might be y'. All. I'm trying to plan it. Issa's first real rap show might be J. Cole. J. Cole. I think I'm a garden or Brooklyn. What do you guys think?
Peter Rosenberg
I think for you, I would do garden.
Louie
Garden.
DJ Envy
It's easy.
Peter Rosenberg
It's easier for you.
Ebro Darden
It's whatever. It's me and easy. We'll ride out.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, but why not have it be slightly easier? I, I, I, I mean, now I would say garden. I would say garden, respectfully. By the way, it's the home of the world champion Knicks. Grim BK says if ICE can show up and take people anywhere, why can't the NYC mayor take a war criminal in the city? Facts TR the doctor says Laura coming back. Mastering Miyagi Do Karate. Wax on, wax off.
Ebro Darden
Watch out.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, he is from Okinawa. Looks beautiful.
Laura LaRosa
By the way,
Peter Rosenberg
Alonso lay here. The Israeli guy who talked to Laura in the restaurant and praised all your views on Israel.
Ebro Darden
Yo, thanks.
Peter Rosenberg
And I hearted your clap emojis on Mom Donnie's post. Thank you, bro.
Ebro Darden
Yo, you know what's crazy you brought that up earlier, that you know, the mom. We played Mom Donnie's speech about Netanyahu earlier, and you know how he feels about Netanyahu, and clearly he's not going to be able to arrest Netanyahu. That's not something he can do. Isn't it weird that people think they speak for a whole cultural group? You know what I'm saying? That never strikes you as weird. Oh, it does. Like, somebody hits me and tells me what all black people think.
Louie
Yeah,
Peter Rosenberg
yeah. Don't. You know? I don't. And to be that wrong on something where there's so many ways to see this.
Ebro Darden
Well, and then there's the next level, which is you are so comfortable. Right. Accepting death at mass scale under the guise of it's for my particular group. You know, I'm saying, like, process that for a second.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
No, that you as a human will say, if it's for my particular group, I am okay with mass amounts of death and destruction and I. Of people who don't have much of anything.
Peter Rosenberg
I don't. By the way, the second it's innocent death, I just am out. Like, I just am out. That's why. That's why. Even back to the other thing about this, even though October 7th was, you know, 1200 people and now we're talking 80,000, and there's no commensurate thing there. That's why anytime anyone downplays that, I'm like, regardless of what was happening prior to that, when you made the decisions of like, no, we're going to just kill people who are just, you know, hey, if you're there, we got to prove a point. I'm out. I'm sorry. I'm out. I'm out. And that's what this. Yo, once you have a baby, the idea of thinking of something happening to that baby, well, because they're born to a different group, particularly group that's like, similar to you in so many ways. And just right down the street, like, what are we? Yeah. My initial response to that, to the guy's message about me and, you know, being bad for Jewish people, what I was saying, I almost wrote, well, you know, the whole thing about my mom being born in a displaced persons camp after the Holocaust and my wife's entire family, you know, being Israeli, I mean, the whole. Essentially, it sucked my dick is what I'm trying to say. Like, I thought.
Ebro Darden
I thought you were gonna go. What happened to the whole never again thing? Never again. Didn't apply to everybody.
Peter Rosenberg
But no, people really. People really do mean. No, Never again means not me again. That is. That is what people. Not. Not us. We'll do it to other people. We have to now. Like, the teachings. The teachings that I learned. I just saw that. Hannah Einbinder. We'll play it on tomorrow's show. Hannah Einbinder, the actor from hacks you've been seeing pop up doing dope stuff places. She did this awesome speech somewhere about, like, specifically the Jewish teachings that she's so proud. Proud of being a part of her life are why she feels so strongly against what's happening. The people who are for this are ignoring the actual teachings of the religion.
Ebro Darden
While it's just like Christians.
Peter Rosenberg
Everyone takes the religion just bastardizes for death.
Ebro Darden
Well, no, they take what they want to take from it or hide behind it and then disregards the things that actually require discipline, focus, and humanity. The things that actually make your belief system special. Many people disregard those things and just hide behind intentionally.
Peter Rosenberg
You want to do the guru?
Ebro Darden
Let's get to the Gurus fans. Rosenberg.
Laura LaRosa
All right.
Ebro Darden
You know you are beautiful Queen Ebro. Don't ever play yourself. You're not a guru. Well, Khaled, they said I am the
Peter Rosenberg
original gurus gmail.com the original gurus gmail.com your destination for clarity. Ah, I did something today I've never done.
Ebro Darden
Put up Jay Z Reasonable Doubt vinyl in the back.
Peter Rosenberg
Caught that. I might just keep flipping the script one you see what you think.
Ebro Darden
What's this blue.
Peter Rosenberg
How about that glare?
Ebro Darden
The though that glare's not. I think you gotta angle it better.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Change the angle.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. Like.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah, the blue, the blue hat to John Cena hat that my friends at Lids gave me. I just thought it was a dope hat. And you know Cena's a rapper too. Everything's got a hip hop. There's a hip hop twist in everything. But still blue and cream. This, that's not what I did though is the Jay Z. I put an overly long email into Claude.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Peter Rosenberg
And said can you summarize this for me?
Ebro Darden
Shout out to Claude.
Peter Rosenberg
Here's the two paragraph summary. A 42 year old man writing anonymously as Bob Doe Learned from his 20 year old daughter that his best friend of 27 years had been secretly texting his ex wife. When confronted, the friend admitted to talking with her, but claimed it started getting weird and that he'd stopped, while also acknowledging it looked bad that he didn't disclose it up front. The writer notes he was unfaithful during his marriage and later took responsibility for its collapse. So he doesn't feel his ex wife owes him any loyalty, but he believes his best friend does. Especially since the friend knew the emotional weight of a recent two and a half year estrangement from his kids tied to a conflict over his son's marijuana use that his ex wife was involved in. Days later, his daughter told him her mother had shown her a text from the friend reading that Will knows and I think I just lost my best friend. Which contradicts the friend's claim that the contact had already ended and suggests more was going on than he admitted. Since then, the writer has cut off all contact with his friend and his friend's family, despite it being the longest friendship of his life. He's asking whether he's overreacting or justified in treat in treating this as a betrayal of trust.
Ebro Darden
I think you're justified in treating as a betrayal truck.
Peter Rosenberg
And there's a chance they smash now.
Ebro Darden
No, no, they smash. Matter of fact, your ex wife wanted to Smash. Which is why your ex wife showed your daughter and told your daughter about the text, because she knew it would get back to you and she wanted to hurt you and she wanted. And your best friend, or your former best friend just wanted to tap and see what was really going on. You know what I'm saying? He just wanted to sample the sauce and they got caught up because it was probably cool when y' all was together.
Peter Rosenberg
Damn all that.
Ebro Darden
He was probably online watching some porn. You know, one of those little porns, like, you know, the head. The. The headline is like, you know, best friend's wife.
Guest Speaker
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
You know, best friend's wife comes. You know, best friend is late getting home. So other best friend smash his wife. He was like, ooh.
Peter Rosenberg
Smashes to smithereens.
Ebro Darden
So, yeah, look, first of all, shout to Claude for the summary.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. Because it was mad long and that was very well done. Yeah, yeah, bro, it's. It's a reasonable. Listen, is there a world in which you guys. If the friendship is that deep, is there a world in which you guys could repair it and, you know, he could apologize and you could be like, forgive him? Yeah, y' all weren't actively married, so while it's nasty work and ebro. I mean, nasty work, it's certainly more repairable than had y' all still been married. But.
Ebro Darden
Well. And also, I'd love to know how you. Your, like, the. The. What the friendship was really like. Like, what you guys actually been through, talked about. Because, you know, yes, there's the initial sting and pain and embarrassment and all that stuff, but then at a certain point, you don't call your boy and go, yo, what was you thinking, bro? Like, I need to know what you think.
Peter Rosenberg
No, seriously.
Ebro Darden
No, seriously.
Louie
No.
Peter Rosenberg
My ex wife's hot, bro.
Ebro Darden
But what I get. I get what you were thinking, why you wanted to hit. That's why I used to hit.
Peter Rosenberg
Well, like, honest, you thought that was a good idea. You thought that was dope.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, but. No, but like, what went through your head like you just wanted to smash. Because as dudes, I feel like there's space to just be like, yo, use being a savage, disgusting a hole.
Peter Rosenberg
Right? I. And by the way, I just want to be clear. Some of the things I. I'm most regretful for in my, like, early days of women dating, etc, was like my desperation to hook up with a hot chick. I would potentially. It didn't really ever happen, but I
Ebro Darden
would have you would considered things.
Peter Rosenberg
Risking friendships. Yeah.
Ebro Darden
So. And maybe it's rooted in it, but
Peter Rosenberg
I was, but I was 20 and I. And I'm embarrassed, but I've had conversations.
Ebro Darden
We know how old this person
Peter Rosenberg
who are smoking weed. So I mean, yeah, 40s, like for your friend in his.
Ebro Darden
But your friend might have not got hot chicks.
Peter Rosenberg
And now he had a connection with your wife, who's hot. And it's nasty work, bro. It's up to you. You already lost the relationship with your ex wife. It's up to you whether you think this is worthy of losing another relationship. Maybe one day you could be like, yo, man, remember when you were a piece of. And you smashed my ex wife? And y' all chuckle about it. I know that sounds crazy now, but it's. But it is possible. So certainly we're not mad at you for being upset. You have every right. But maybe I'll address it one day. So say the gurus.
Ebro Darden
Ah, that's good. That was a good one.
Peter Rosenberg
We did good.
Ebro Darden
Listen, man. Another successful EO Laura Rosenberg show. Did we get all the super chats?
Peter Rosenberg
I think we got.
Ebro Darden
Hey, yo, Lou. How are the subscribers moving?
Louie
Oh, we did. We've done pretty good since the past
Ebro Darden
week, week and a half, really. You don't say. Arguing over money to invest. Moved around people.
Louie
Actually, people really like the JayZ, conversation,
Ebro Darden
Jay Z, the HOV combo. Yeah, shout out to HOV for getting us some subscribers. Have we crossed 80,000? Not yet. So we've been stuck in the 70s.
Peter Rosenberg
Whoa, bruh. 70's been months now. 70s been months. Crossing that hundo, crossing that hondo.
Ebro Darden
I remember when they told me we was gonna cross a hundred thousand in July.
Peter Rosenberg
We were moving.
Louie
It was moving good.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, I remember.
Peter Rosenberg
But when this Inspector debt. Hey, listen, I'll tell you what though. Really, really pleased to see our Patreon growth and the love on Patreon.
Louie
Patreon.
Ebro Darden
So Patreon's going crazy.
Peter Rosenberg
I would. I didn't say going crazy. It's going good though.
Ebro Darden
Wouldn't you agree, Louie? Yeah, crazy for us.
Peter Rosenberg
Yeah. The Patreon's consistently growing and I think our announcing. Our announcing of giving more to the patrons. It has a moment where the people who get everything for free go, hey. And then that subsides and people are like, ah, let me support them. And you see it moving and it's nice to see that.
Ebro Darden
Well, the patrons get an Inspector Deck interview today.
Laura LaRosa
Fire.
Peter Rosenberg
An hour with Inspector Deck with the mute playing the mutang music with him. N. It's Fire.
Ebro Darden
It's good stuff. Good stuff.
Louie
Enjoy.

Conversational, irreverent, and often sharply funny—even when addressing heavy issues. The trio (with occasional input from Laura, Envy, and Louie) move smoothly from earnest debate to jokes about hip hop, bureaucracy, and the absurdities of modern life. They oscillate between deep reflection—particularly on communal trauma, institutional power, and media narratives—and the laid-back banter of old friends.
Next up: More culture, music, and debate—don’t call it a podcast.
