Ebro Darden
Just don't call it a podcast, Okay?
Lauren Sisler
Morning.
Laura Styles
Good morning. Good morning.
Ebro Darden
All right, ladies and gentlemen, we're gonna get a Nolan Wells update today from. Here's why, Kevin. We're also going to take your phone calls. 8, 4, 4, ELR. ELR 3. Because I got a question. Am I bugging? You know, I got a toddler. We're back in the park. It's a. A repeat situation for the old man. You know, I did it once with Issa already. Yeah. You know what I mean?
Lauren Sisler
Where. Years ago. Years ago.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. But, you know, you have to check, like, parents, man. You gotta, like, the parents are, like, a lot of parents out here. And that's why I'm asking the question, am I bugging? Yes. Kids get into things with each other, fine. Parents are supposed to mediate before it becomes a thing.
Laura Styles
That's right.
Ebro Darden
If your kid is crawling up the wrong way on the slide and kids are trying to go down the slide, the parent.
Lauren Sisler
Honey, no, no. Get off, stupid. Don't do that.
Ebro Darden
That's right. You see what I'm saying? When the parent. But when the parent doesn't do that. Rosenberg. And you have to speak to someone else's child, how long do you wait? Like, there's that kind of, like, window. We're at the park the other day, Selassie found a toy nobody was playing with. It was tucked over by some fence or something. I don't know. Maybe a kid left it behind. She goes, oh, it's like a little lawnmower. So she's pushing it around the playground.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Then one of her friends from school comes over and tries to muscle her. Like, kind of nudge her off the handle and grab it. So there's kind of like a. Yeah. Small tussle. But the dad is standing in the other girl's dad, he's just watching. So. And y' all know me. You guys have known me for a long time. Other dad is white.
Lauren Sisler
Oh.
Ebro Darden
I immediately. I immediately start thinking, okay, so you just gonna let your white kid feel like it could just bully the black kid at the park? But I ain't say nothing. So I. Wait a second. It's kind of little exchange. Selassie sticking up for herself. Like, no, it's mine. No. And then the dad finally steps in. But I had these kind of hot flashes.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. I've been there. I've been there.
Ebro Darden
You know, Issa Selassie's mom is there. She kind of steps in, too, to be like, hey. So, like, after you know, a little second. Hey, Salasa, you can share if you want to share, but you have this feeling of like, why am I telling my kid to be the nice kid? The other parent ain't telling their kid to be the nice kid.
Laura Styles
I know, I know. It's.
Ebro Darden
Am I. Am I bugging?
Laura Styles
No. It's one of the playground things that really boils my blood. The slide thing is one that's happened to me twice. Kenza and all these other smaller little children trying to go down the slide. This little boy's climbing up. The mom is watching him and not saying anything, and I'm asking him to get down, and he's looking at me like, nope. So after a while, Kenza's like, mom, I'm gonna go down. I said, yep, go ahead. And she slammed right into him. And then the mom gets up. He's like, don't kick my son.
Ebro Darden
No, your son's getting kicked, lady. You should have got him off the slide.
Laura Styles
Yeah, but it's like, yo, some parents don't care. They don't care.
Ebro Darden
It makes me want to argue. Makes it makes you want to go at one of these parents, man, like, and really be like, yo, what the f is wrong with you, bro? Yeah, Rosenberg, you're on your way.
Laura Styles
I know. I'm like, you hit the park? What's going on?
Lauren Sisler
I've. I've barely. I've barely. I don't have a lot of park experience. The. The nanny is probably doing more time at the park. And I'll tell you, so far, that's what I'm comfortable with, because I'm not ready. I'll be honest. I'm not. I don't think I'm ready yet. I. This. These interactions scare me. I need to ease my way in. I've been a couple times, and Maya's been very, very sweet, and she just takes her time, and she. You know, she's still among the younger kids at the park, so she just kind of watches, and she hasn't really gotten involved in anything. But I'm not going to lie. I listen to the horror stories, and it scares the hell out of me. The slide seems like the Wild West.
Ebro Darden
No slide can be the. Yo, Selassie is going to get on the slide, okay? And there's this overweight mom sitting at the entrance to the slide. Why are you all up in the crevices of the slide with your big, fat ass? So I walk. Selassie's climbing up. And, you know, Selassie's pretty well managed. She's like, excuse me, and has to, like, narrow by a parent because you're fat.
Lauren Sisler
You're too big. That's not nice. Now you're not being nice.
Ebro Darden
Nah, bro, you're too big.
Lauren Sisler
No, she shouldn't be sitting there. You're allowed to be big. You're not allowed to be big and
Ebro Darden
blocking well, but you're not allowed to be big. And on a kids, this isn't even the big park. This is the baby part, which is worse. Why are you sitting there? Like, if you're seeing another kid who's like, you know. You know how kids kind of get distracted and they're playing with some little, you know, some little steering wheel in the corner next. Next to the slide. You're supposed to stand next to your kid. If you're worried about your kid, maybe isn't ready for prime time, but you're not supposed to sit at the steps like you're the guardian of the. Yo. Speaking of getting into it with kids, I didn't even tell y' all this. We was on vacation, okay? Over Fourth of July. And the place we go every year, vacation, has a water park for the kids, and they have, like, a couple of water slots. Mm. And so I hear Issa and her cousins talking about, yeah, there's some kids at the top asking us what slide we wanna go on. I was like, huh? What do you mean? Now, mind you, the hair on my neck was already up because there was another family of about eight to 10 people that had, like, the American flag bikinis on and the mullets and all that. So I was already on awareness, you know what I'm saying? Head on a swivel. Fourth of July, we. And by the way, we out of the country. So I'm like, why are they going so hard? Why they so Americaed out?
Lauren Sisler
And real quick, I just want to get a confirmation here. You said it's a family, Laura. I'm just trying to catch all this. A family full of mullets. Does that mean everyone in the family had a mullet?
Ebro Darden
Well, it's a family of mullets. If there's more than three.
Lauren Sisler
And you're telling us there are more than three.
Ebro Darden
More than three mullets. Long goatees. Definitely some motorcycle memory, you know, kind of paraphernalia on a hat or two. And all in American flag koozies to keep your beer warm. Merka. Okay? Air was already kind of like. You pay attention here.
Laura Styles
All right, so what happened?
Ebro Darden
So when I hear this, I'm like, let me go I want to get on the slide now. And you know, adults can ride the slides with their kids. You know, it's kind of for everybody. So I get to the top, me and Jazz go up, I get to the top of the slide and I hear, boy, sit down. And Jazz looks around the corner and. And the kids, one of the kids, and they probably like 10, is telling another 10 year old that he has to sit down cuz he can't get on the slide. So they're like bullying kids at the top of the slide to like control the slot. So Jazz is like, are, are you. Do you guys know each other? Are you guys friends? And the kids were like, well, yeah, now he's my friend. We riding the slides, trying to like mouth off the jazz now, bro. The kid turns to me, was like, what slides you want to get on? So I'm going, get on whatever slide I want to get on.
Lauren Sisler
Oh, okay. All right, all right.
Laura Styles
So then what happened?
Ebro Darden
And the kid was like, well, we were just. I was like, man, don't play on the slides, man. Y' all don't run these slides. I had to punk some kids.
Lauren Sisler
Yo, what is. Yo, Ibro, what's wrong with you, bro?
Ebro Darden
Yeah, I think slides. And the kid had like a little gold chain on. I was about to snatch his little chain.
Lauren Sisler
No, you were how old, kid?
Ebro Darden
I thought about it.
Laura Styles
No, you were not how old.
Ebro Darden
Am I kidding? 11. You know how I feel. He'd be 13 soon enough. He can get punched.
Laura Styles
Rosenberg, you haven't been here yet.
Ebro Darden
Now you watch. Watch.
Laura Styles
You're gonna be.
Ebro Darden
You're gonna run into a 12, 13 year old, tall as you, trying to get an attitude. Watch.
Laura Styles
No, listen, Laura, bully the little ones,
Lauren Sisler
but Laura, I hear you. The only thing that I'm putting my, you know, my. Have a little bit of concern on here is this didn't have to do with Ebro's kids at all. This is a bunch of kids.
Ebro Darden
My kid, my kids had a little running at the top. I'm up there with Issa. I needed her to see like, don't be afraid of these kids, man. Tell them you getting on whatever slide you want to get on. My. My little nephew was there a couple other kids.
Laura Styles
And it's very hard when you're up there and you see other smaller kids getting bullied. You will say something. I know you. You're going to say something.
Lauren Sisler
Laura, I agree with you 100%. I'm not questioning me, I'm questioning Ebro. Okay? This isn't about me. This is about Ebro. I'm worried. Ebro was actually the bully of the whole sl.
Ebro Darden
I'm never. I'm. I only retaliate. I'm only. I'm very big. If everybody's being polite, I'm being polite too. You guys know me better than that. Everybody's being polite. But yeah, no. So this was just yesterday. No, day before yesterday. So Sunday, Sunday at the park with Selassie. So the question is for Y', all. 8, 4, 4, ELR. ELR 3. Get some phones going today. Am I bugging one to be like, super waiting for a parent to manage a situation, or are you one of the parents that think kids are supposed to just figure it out? I think kids are supposed to figure it out when they're like 8 to 12. Two year olds need mediation. Four year olds need mediation. You don't just let them get into a tug of war over a toy at three, four years old.
Lauren Sisler
Right.
Ebro Darden
You don't just let another kid get pushed by another kid when they're that. That young. No, you don't do that. And you definitely teach a kid etiquette.
Laura Styles
You have to.
Lauren Sisler
Well, people don't. I'll tell you the. The only one bad experience I've had in my limited experience so far. I told you guys about when we were at the park and I want. And Maya was trying to get in the little tiny swings for the little babies. And there were 10 year olds or like 8, 9 year olds shoving their whole body inside the little tiny person's swing. And they had adults there watching them. And you see that there's a little kid who this swing is designed for, waiting. What are you doing?
Ebro Darden
That's exact. But see, this is it. That's exactly it. Where you look over at the parents like, hey, yo, these your kids?
Laura Styles
Yeah. Welcome to the jungle, Rosenberg.
Lauren Sisler
Facts.
Ebro Darden
Well, and it's a microcosm of why we have a society the way we are. It absolutely is a mirror on society.
Lauren Sisler
Facts.
Ebro Darden
Because you have people out here letting their kids run loose, reckless. Nobody's managing them. You're not stepping in. Your kids is gonna be one of them kids.
Lauren Sisler
And then what's going to happen later in life? What are they going to be when they're going to get punched in the face?
Ebro Darden
Then you got like the kid with Laura Styles and Kenza, don't hit him. We'll get his punk ass off the slide. Or he getting hit, had the nerve
Laura Styles
to say, don't hit my son. I'm like looking at her like,
Lauren Sisler
I
Laura Styles
was like, hey, we asked him to move multiple times.
Ebro Darden
You know what I'm saying? Like, yo, if you're being a bitch in society, you got two options as the person who is the, you know, being affected by somebody else's assness. You can go do something else or you could punch him in the face. Especially if they know they being a.
Laura Styles
Yeah, but the worst of the parents, man, like them watching and not doing anything. That's really the problem.
Lauren Sisler
Yeah, I'm not looking forward to it, guys. Yeah, I Every. When, when, when our nanny takes Maya out and she'll send us little photos here and there. Every photo we get has me tearing up. Like Maya's reading a book by herself. I'm like, look at her. She's just sitting down reading a book by herself. Oh, and then I saw one yesterday. It was a video. They were in a pretend little kitchen and Maya's making pretend food and she's making corn. Maya loves corn in real life. And another little kid comes over and takes her pretend corn.
Ebro Darden
Oh, man.
Lauren Sisler
And I see Maya's sweet face just turn and look and she just goes in. Her eyes. I saw why she take my corn. But she's a sweetheart, you know, she sits there and she's pensive about it and that's it. But every moment scares me. And, you know, I want to make sure I push myself to give her all the experiences she should get. But also, I'm not gonna lie, guys. Interacting in the world with these punk ass little kids like Kenzo was talking about back in the day, dealing with these kids and parents, does it freaks me out a bit?
Ebro Darden
Where is my FD's kill kids?
Lauren Sisler
Yo, guys. Ebro, I have kids. Ebro, we've waited long enough. I have huge news.
Ebro Darden
All right, here we go. Let me see. Hang on, let me see if I have any breaking news. Sounders, here we go.
Lauren Sisler
This is huge news.
Laura Styles
Exciting.
Lauren Sisler
I was today years old when I knew that on the song. I think about every single day of my life. Brooklyn Zoo, ODB says in the G building, taking all types of medicine. Did you know that? I always thought it was energy building.
Ebro Darden
I did think it was energy building. Like, he's building up his energy.
Lauren Sisler
No, bro, he's in the G building doing drugs.
Laura Styles
Oh, my God.
Ebro Darden
I was like, yo, I ain't in the nice.
Lauren Sisler
No, I. I posted about it yesterday. And then I see the comments people writing in the G building. I'm like, in the G building. What? And then I looked and I'm like, this makes perfect sense. In the G Building.
Laura Styles
So stupid.
Ebro Darden
Well, speaking of odb, do we have photos? ODB street is official. Shout out to Chiyo. Say who? I saw it on his Instagram. You know, there it is. ODB Jones Way Brooklyn.
Laura Styles
That's dope.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Wow,
Laura Styles
love that.
Lauren Sisler
I'm deciding I want to have a serious conversation. Number one, well deserved. Amazing. I love it. I wish I had been there. Number two, can we take a moment and decide whether ODB Jones was the best name for the street? We have a lot of options, obviously. I understand that old dirty bastard wasn't going to go. No, I get it. That one wasn't in the conversation. But there's Russell Jones. There's Dirt McGurk.
Ebro Darden
But what about Russell ODB Jones way?
Lauren Sisler
That I might. I think I prefer that. What about Big Baby Jesus Way?
Laura Styles
Yeah, probably not.
Ebro Darden
Nah.
Lauren Sisler
What about Dirt Dog Road?
Ebro Darden
What about ASAN Unique Way?
Lauren Sisler
See, see, now we're having a conversation, though. For real. Like Ason street kind of works.
Laura Styles
All right, we got. You want to watch video?
Ebro Darden
Yeah, let's see. What do you got? There it is. Odb jones way.
Lauren Sisler
I love it.
Ebro Darden
In the g building.
Lauren Sisler
In the g building. Oh, and they're playing brooklyn zoo.
Ebro Darden
Exactly. Look at chi chi ose out there.
Lauren Sisler
Wow, that's fire. They're playing Brooklyn Zoo.
Ebro Darden
There it is, the G Building. Yo, that flow on Brooklyn Zoo is so crazy, bro.
Lauren Sisler
And then the other day I saw.
Ebro Darden
And by the way, I got my Woo. Killer Bees Gore Tex on today. Just coincidentally,
Lauren Sisler
the other day online, I saw that 92 bricks posted just randomly, a post about old dirty bastards unreleased Roc A Fella album. And this is the tracks that were on the unreleased album that we know were made. Lift your skirt featuring Missy, produced by Mark Ronson.
Ebro Darden
Okay,
Lauren Sisler
we all know this record because it actually came out. Pop shots featuring Lil Fama Mop produced by Premier. That one's. That one's more easily available. Fire Operator featuring clips produced by the Neptunes.
Ebro Darden
Whoa. Where's that at?
Laura Styles
Wow.
Lauren Sisler
Back in the air featuring Ghostface, produced by rza.
Ebro Darden
So somebody has this on a hard drive somewhere is what you tell them.
Lauren Sisler
Yeah, I wonder. I'm gonna look right now on YouTube. I wonder how many are on YouTube right now, because you never know.
Ebro Darden
They might be out. What you got over there on the phone lines there, Griff? We got two different people on the phone lines.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Let's go to Marcel first.
Lauren Sisler
Hopefully he's still on.
Laura Styles
All right, Marcel.
Ebro Darden
Yo, Marcel, did we lose you? Are you still on? 08:44 ELR ELR 3. Good morning. Good morning. Talk to me. Marcel, on your side. Wholeheartedly, E, bro. Okay. Imagine having a kid that's autistic, man. God bless. And he's at the.
Lauren Sisler
He's at the playground trying to play,
Ebro Darden
and these kids are trying to bully him. You definitely got to stand up because, you know, his social interactions are not all the way there. Right, right. Definitely got to stand up.
Lauren Sisler
And these kids are, like, disrespectful, man.
Ebro Darden
They be bullies. It's like, you gotta be kidding me. You fresh out. You fresh out. You new here.
Lauren Sisler
You new to this?
Ebro Darden
Like, what are you doing? Well, and not only that. Like, I'm in the process of teaching, you know, Selassie, her mom is too. Like, yo, somebody hits you, you hit him back harder. You know, like, we not doing that. Oh. Just taking smacks to the face. But getting the kid to get in that mode. Now, Selassie will still. I've seen her stand up for herself against me, her sister. No, mine. Or at the park. Like, somebody. Even with the little lawnmower situation, the girl was trying to take it. Selassie wasn't taking her hands off it. So she. She got a little dog in her. I just gotta figure out how to get the bark a little bit better. She got a little dog, you know, I just need her to have a better bark a little bit. You know what I'm saying? The same thing. I try to teach my son the same thing, but he's so nice. He doesn't want to hurt no one. One doesn't want her to fly. So I get his cousins around to be like, hey, look, you gotta stick up for your cousin, because I respect it. So nice and gentle and peaceful. Well, you know, Issa, I was ne. I have never been able. Issa is, like, you know, big and strong and bigger than, you know, and stronger, most athletic than most boys her age, let alone the girls. And so I haven't been able to teach her to go full Dragon Ball Z on them yet. You know what I mean? Like, I was never able to get. She don't have that switch. Even though she's, like, quiet competitive and just will be like, you know what? Or like, she'll be like, daddy, I don't want to hurt anybody. Like, she's conscious of her strength. Yeah, but when she was young, like, Selassie, the way she would mangle her cousins. I've seen her Mango Boys like, mush. All in the face, all in the couch. Like, all of that wrestling in the park. She had his one cousin, man, she body slammed him in the park in front of his parents. I was like, yo, stop playing with her. But she don't have the bar, you know, So I want Salassi to have a bark because the bark actually keeps you away from having to bite somebody. Yeah. You know, thanks for your call, man. Thank you very much, man. Parents. And the question was, am I bugging? Because these kids at the park. What do you got there, Griffin? Good morning, West. Hey, what's going on, man? Am I bugging, man? These kid are. These kids at the park need. Need parenting. Cuz they like. I feel like I get pushed too far by these kids and these parents.
Lauren Sisler
So the phone line is very horrible. So I see what the frustration y' all be having.
Ebro Darden
But what I was saying about the parent is.
Lauren Sisler
And this goes out to roast as well, because we're all generations of hip hop. Just listen to mop all day.
Ebro Darden
And anything they say through the opposite.
Lauren Sisler
Wait, are you sure?
Ebro Darden
It depends on the scenario, though. I just say do the opposite, because
Lauren Sisler
what they say, if it ain't locked
Ebro Darden
down, it's a go.
Lauren Sisler
You don't want to be throwing around
Ebro Darden
no slides out there.
Laura Styles
Thank you.
Ebro Darden
Thanks for your call. West, not Rosenberg. Your time will come. Yeah, your time will come. And all you can do really is look at the parents. It's kind of. You give them a look like, are you gonna do anything here? Do you want me to say something? Because I don't want my kid in the. That's the real thing. I don't want to see another kid pushing around my kid.
Laura Styles
You definitely got a Zen. Zen, Zen, bro. You have to. You have to arrest. Because there's many times where I just visualize myself grabbing somebody and tossing them. I can't do that. No, can't do that.
Ebro Darden
I want to see old school styles though, back.
Laura Styles
No, no, no, no, no.
Lauren Sisler
We can't bring that back. We can't bring it back.
Laura Styles
So what I do is try to communicate. And if they don't communicate, I be like, go ahead, Kenza, just kick them in the face.
Ebro Darden
If you're paying attention. In the Tri State. Do you have the CNN report, weather report that dropped this morning? About the next couple of days out here in the Tri State. Let's check it out.
Lauren Sisler
An unusually strong storm system will get stuck across the Northeast this week, bringing flood threats for major metros across the busy i95 corridor. This setup with an intense but slow moving storm basically stalling over the Northeast is normally something we see in wintertime, the kind that brings blockbuster winter storms to the region. But now with the dog days of summer providing so much heat and humidity in the air, we're on the lookout for flooding. And it'll come in two different varieties over the next several days. First will be flash flooding resulting from torrential downpours and strong thunderstorms. We expect those in the afternoon and evening hours on Tuesday into Wednesday morning. These are the one to two quick inches that can come in a single hour, quickly overpowering urban infrastructure and drainage capable of sweeping away cars from flooded roads. But we could also be dealing with more widespread flooding as we get this slow moving storm system bringing round after round of rainfall every day this week, piling up 4 to 6 inches. More than a month's worth of rain in just the next three days over the Northeast and New England.
Ebro Darden
A month's worth of rain in three days, guys. And Rosenberg, where are you? Connecticut.
Lauren Sisler
At this moment I'm in Connecticut. I think I'll be back in the city by. By one.
Ebro Darden
How do you do the Connecticut thing? You drive or you take the train? How's your.
Lauren Sisler
I got a. I got a car today that picked me up.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Lauren Sisler
And then I'll. I'll get that back and then I'll go. I'm gonna go home, see the baby for a minute, try to get it together. And then I got to go downtown to go to espn.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, so you're gonna be on these rainy roads, my guy.
Lauren Sisler
What time. So what time is it expected to hit? Early afternoon.
Ebro Darden
Well, tonight. Well, they're saying to. You said one o', clock, Griff. One o'.
Laura Styles
Clock.
Ebro Darden
Something starts to pull up and then into tonight, I think is where the flash flooding gets into tomorrow and then every day for the next. So you have tonight, tomorrow, then Wednesday and then Thursday, bro, just like rain. So, yeah, and you know how much flooding? The train stations and different, you know, parkways up in Westchester and different things. We've had sinkholes. Queens in Brooklyn keep flooding. Sinkholes. Sinkholes.
Laura Styles
Shut up, heroes.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Stop.
Lauren Sisler
Honestly, Stop, you troll. Yo. But no, but he's not. But he's not wrong. And he. And this, and this is now. Every time there's a bad storm, it seems like something insane happens.
Ebro Darden
So, I mean, buckle up, party people. Buckle up. Now, Rosenberg, on your algorithm, you have someone taking 9 inches of meat to the gullet.
Laura Styles
That's our friend.
Lauren Sisler
It wasn't even the algorithm. It was just Joey Chestnut posting crazy things.
Ebro Darden
Let's take a look.
Laura Styles
Joey.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Oh, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Why do you have to go? Oh, yeah.
Lauren Sisler
Oh, my God, it's looking beautiful. Two pounds of beef, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
This is like 9 inches of meat in my mouth.
Lauren Sisler
I'm gonna start the clock and see how long it takes.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Polish this thing off.
Lauren Sisler
Yo, my man, what are we doing?
Ebro Darden
Yo, how much money you think Joey Chestnut has made over the years, guys? You think he's a millionaire? Oh, yeah.
Lauren Sisler
Not so much that he. That he. Not so much that he doesn't have to do the commercial for 9 inches of meat in your mouth.
Laura Styles
He's welcoming all the meats.
Lauren Sisler
Yeah.
Laura Styles
Apparently, for those of you who don't know who Joey Chestnut is, he's been like, the hot doggy champion of the Nathan's contest in Coney island for how many years? 16 times. Yeah.
Lauren Sisler
Honestly, I think Joey probably has to work to, like, you know, I think he's a working man for real. Like, I think it's probably not a seven figure kind of job. I think. I think it's a. I think he's got to grind it out each year and do the content, you know, and do the. He doesn't just do Nathan's like, he has to do a bunch of other stuff now. He gets his sponsorship money. Hopefully if he's invested, he's good. But I don't think people are pouring money into food contests like that.
Ebro Darden
Got it. Let's go. You got Milagro on the phone line. Milagros. Hi.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Good morning.
Ebro Darden
Good morning, Milagro. Thanks for joining ELR everybody else. 844 ELR. ELR. 3. Happy Birthday to Milagro. Guys, friend of the show.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Hey.
Ebro Darden
Yes, shot. And shout out to Laura for hooking me up with the recommendation for Vic.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Mr.
Ebro Darden
Shirt.
Laura Styles
I got one.
Ebro Darden
There you go.
Laura Styles
Nice.
Ebro Darden
Wait, what shirt? The Vic Men, sir.
Laura Styles
The jersey. Oh, yeah, the Vic Mena jersey.
Ebro Darden
Oh, yo, that liberation jersey I wore, I wore it to the pool this weekend. Shout out to Vic Men for that.
Laura Styles
Yes, we love Vic.
Ebro Darden
Now, Milagro, you was hearing us talk about kids in the park. You had something you wanted to add? Oh, yes. No, I'm totally with it. I'm not a parent, but I definitely am an auntie. And so, yes, I'm watching all the kids. If your kids acting up, I'm coming over there.
Laura Styles
Okay. That's right.
Ebro Darden
That's what you know, this is a village around here as soon as you come in. Well, and that's why I asked the question this morning. Thank you, Milagro. Am I bugging? Because it feels like parents think they can just let their kids just loose at the playground and there's no mediation, no supervision. It's just like, oh, kids will be kids. Nah, bro. You gotta teach kids how to interact so they can have, like, you know, politeness and, you know, empathy and learn how to share. And these things take adults participation. I guess this is how also how teacher teachers feel, too, to some degree.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Where parents just drop their kids off at school and you ain't doing nothing with your children at home, and you expect school to, like, parent your children.
Laura Styles
Yeah. God bless those teachers, especially, like, middle school and high school. They go through it. It's bad. Have you ever seen those videos when they're like, you can't have your phone in the classroom and they have a complete meltdown?
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
No, it's wild. Yeah, it's wild.
Laura Styles
Scary.
Ebro Darden
Laurel, you're working on the rundown. It's time to start it. Let's get it popping.
Laura Styles
Let's do it. All right, so Jay Z previously announced shows in Los Angeles and in London, and now, thanks to Demand, he's adding an extra date to each city.
Ebro Darden
Wow.
Laura Styles
So on September 4th, he's gonna perform in London, and he's doing the SoFi Stadium October 23rd. So they're still, you know, they're adding shows to each one.
Ebro Darden
There you go.
Laura Styles
So some good news for fans. Whoever, you know, didn't get lucky enough to snatch up a ticket in those areas.
Ebro Darden
So, speaking of. Speaking of Jay Z Rosenberg, are you able to follow this Tony Yayo, Uncle Murder, Memphis Bleak, back and forth? Do you have any insight? Oh, no.
Lauren Sisler
I mean, all I saw was that when Bleak was doing his media run right after the Yankee Stadium shows, a conversation came up about how bleak. About how G Unit talked about how Bleak was treated by hov. And Bleak really turns it into a. Hey, it's not. Not turned it into. But his response was, hey, it's not about how HOV treats me. Like, why people always asking about what HOV does for me. Like, what he did was set us all up to win, so we're good, and I make money doing X, Y and Z. And then he went on to say, the thing about G Unit is, you know, Yayo and those guys, according to Bleak, there he was calling them dependents. They're $0.50 dependents, and they can't basically do anything. And it got nasty from there.
Ebro Darden
Got it. And so now. Yeah, and then I saw. Let's. Let's look at this clip here. This is Uncle Murder and Yayo talking to Gilly the kid and wallow million dollars worth of game. Well, clip 10
Lauren Sisler
hold up, man.
Ebro Darden
And the only Bleak verse I ever like is the one that Jay Z wrote. The only Bleak verse I ever like is the one that Jay Z wrote. I ain't never like a bleak verse that he wrote by himself. Out of here. Because ain't no Memphis Bleak fans like that neither. Why are you standing like that now? I'm just saying back to that.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
I'm just.
Ebro Darden
I'm dead serious. Bitcoin for bitcoin bank account for bank account and business statements for business statements. And we could do it next week. Week. And let's check the transactions. You know you can scratch it out so nobody w. Nobody nothing. Let's see how much money really got. And check the safe. Cuz we got the safe money too. I got it safe in the crib. And I just took my kids first class flights on Disney. We was in Disney World. I do with the kids. It was me 2017 kids. Are we deucing. Wait a minute. Wait.
Lauren Sisler
I missed that part. I never heard that line.
Ebro Darden
No. Murder got a chill. First of all, I don't even believe Murder believes what he's saying. The only Bleak verse you like. Stop.
Lauren Sisler
And I don't know what he meant if he meant coming of age. But nah. Bleak's got Bleak has verses on a
Ebro Darden
lot of big records. Be barring it up. Why? Why is this happening now? Wait. Run it back again. Tell me again.
Lauren Sisler
Because people asked Bleak. People sort of suggested that Bleak is like dependent on hov or and maybe the conversation came originally from maybe Louie. Louie. Did it come originally from Yayo and Murda
Ebro Darden
Lou Lou doesn't know. Did the conversation start with Yayo and Murder or did it start with Bleak on the Breakfast Club? It started with Bleak on the Breakfast Club.
Lauren Sisler
Club started with so yeah. So Bleak really went there on this whole. Nah. The difference is work. We stand on our own two and they're all 50. They need 50 to eat. That was the whole thing.
Ebro Darden
Got it.
Lauren Sisler
But then Murder just went crazy. And it's funny because it was more. It was really about Yayo. But Murder went yo. The we went. I we went to Disney. Is the insane.
Ebro Darden
We need drops yo this I. I' ma just watch and see how this plays out. Rashan, you look like you wanted to say something. Also we got Yayo response as well. That one was a little bit more spicy. Murder was just going off crazy.
Laura Styles
More spicy.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. Let's watch it more spicy. And the glazing award goes to Memphis Bleak. Memphis Bleak. Right. Did an interview. They've been clipping it up on social media, you know what I mean?
Lauren Sisler
I seen a clip where you said,
Ebro Darden
you don't think that Jay looks out for them over there, like 50 look out for y'. All. And let me explain that to you, like. Cause are flipping and bouncing like 50 pay a bills or pay a taxes, right? What I'm saying by that is, like, we're in rooms like with Tillman just own the Houston Rockets.
Lauren Sisler
We.
Ebro Darden
We in rooms with niggas. We met said this guy owns the whole Brazil. We're in them rooms. So when you look at Bleak, do you see Bleak at the All White? Do you see him at Mike Rubin party? You ever seen him there? I never went to one. I don't know. You never seen him there, right? I don't know. 50 puts me and murder in rooms that niggas could never get in. Like, I done met everybody from Jim Carrey to the Kardashians to whoever you want to name in the game. I done met niggas when I go to the Garden. I, Patrick Ewan, know me. John Starks, know me. We're one of the most biggest groups in the world. All I'm saying is you don't. When. When he talks, he says he has a restaurant, Right? But Jay didn't want to come, right? We got a dispensary. You think 15 slide by there? No, I'm saying the unit dispensary. We own a dispensary. We own businesses, too. Wait, and Rahsaan. You said that that was spicy.
Lauren Sisler
Oh, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Converter was just saying wild stuff. He actually was, like, kind of taking some shots. Oh, my definition of spicy was more what Uncle Murder did. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He had more energy. I think Spicy and energy is And. And accusatory. That was more. But regardless, I just see.
Laura Styles
Look. I see Bleak traveling the world with his family. Like, I see him in different countries enjoying time with his daughter and his wife. And, like, I just. Just because he's not at these parties, maybe he doesn't want to be.
Ebro Darden
All I know is they all got more money than me, and they all seem like they're doing pretty good.
Lauren Sisler
Yeah. Like, what are we? Everything.
Ebro Darden
I don't even really know what we're. And I don't think that either party knows really, the inner workings of each other. Each other's thing.
Lauren Sisler
Yeah. Sidekick versus sidekick.
Laura Styles
Nah, bro, Nah.
Lauren Sisler
But that's how it ends up feeling. And it shouldn't. It's silly. They're like, listen, I'm here for the laughs and wallow, saying, I never been and then it cut into Gilly and him being like, I don't.
Ebro Darden
That was funny, Uncle Murt. I've never heard somebody get so aggressive. Aggressive about taking their kids to Disney, though.
Lauren Sisler
No, never in my life.
Ebro Darden
Never in my life.
Lauren Sisler
Never in my life.
Ebro Darden
Yo, my kids first class.
Laura Styles
I mean, Disney is expensive, by the way.
Ebro Darden
I was aggressive after I paid because I was looking at my bank statement.
Lauren Sisler
No, by the way, it's fact. All of the. Yo, just living regular life, like, doing things that you think would be normal is not. And I'm sure they're all living great lives, so. But now Bleak has some fire songs, though. Yeah. Yay. Or Murder. I'm sorry.
Ebro Darden
Murder knows he lying. I don't believe him. He knows he lying.
Lauren Sisler
Okay, bro, it's.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
It's.
Lauren Sisler
It's all right. Do my. Is that your chick?
Ebro Darden
Why are you even doing this?
Lauren Sisler
Handed down intro. Coming of eight. I mean, he's got a lot of joints, man.
Laura Styles
All right, guys. So just an update on the case of the murder of Celeste Rivas. Yeah, David's preliminary hearing is over after five days of testimonies with the judge ordering the murder case of 14 year old Celeste Rivas to proceed to trial. Now, the judge said that the trial must begin within 90 days. David is due back in court for arraignment on August 31st. And, you know, there was a lot of evidence presented by prosecutors during the preliminary hearing, which included horrible photos and text messages and just some of the most disgusting things that I. You know, obviously the audience can't see, but, you know, they were described by reporters about the relationship and the sexual relationship that they have. So David is being charged with one count of murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, unlawful mutilation of human remains, and with prosecutors alleging that he killed her because she threatened to expose their illegal sexual relationship. And he's pleading not guilty. This case just creeps me out so much because to learn that this all started when she was just 11 years
Ebro Darden
old is frightening, bro. That's Issa's age, bro.
Lauren Sisler
Frightening, bro. I don't even have words for everything. I feel sort of fortunate that I didn't even know who he was. Like, it wasn't in my world at all.
Laura Styles
I don't think any of us knew who he was until this came, but
Lauren Sisler
some people did, but. But not us. Like, I. I felt fortunate to be old and not know because.
Ebro Darden
Was there like a movement around?
Lauren Sisler
There was some. In. In retrospect, what I've seen is that he was sort of popular, but it's just the worst ever. Guys, I got to go do WWE stuff at SummerSlam this week. I got ESPN WWE stuff.
Ebro Darden
Laura, hang on. You got to say hello to. To Kevin. Here's why. Kevin, jump on in, bro.
Laura Styles
Yay.
Lauren Sisler
Oh, Kevin, tag it. I'm tagging Kevin in.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, there you go. Kevin's in. Slide in, bro.
Lauren Sisler
Hey, yo. Hey, Laura, you go where you were?
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Lauren Sisler
Laura didn't even mention the new Barty. I mean, what's going on with the Barty gang?
Laura Styles
Oh, I know. Cardi B dropped a clip of a. A new sneak peek of a new record.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Laura Styles
So I just saw it floating around. I don't even know if we could play it, though. But she.
Lauren Sisler
Yeah, but it was still exciting, but.
Laura Styles
New bar.
Ebro Darden
Wait, when did we just officially start calling her Barney?
Laura Styles
New bar on this program, Rosenberg likes to call her party, so I just had it.
Lauren Sisler
All right, I gotta go.
Ebro Darden
Love you guys. Thanks over there. What are you doing for espn, bro?
Lauren Sisler
I'm about to go do get up. Then we're shooting.
Ebro Darden
I said, what's going on, man?
Lauren Sisler
I'mma tell Greeny you said, what's up? Then we got to do a special for SummerSlam. And then I got first take all kinds of stuff, man. Big SummerSlam week.
Ebro Darden
All right, man. Enjoy yourself.
Lauren Sisler
Thank you.
Ebro Darden
After y' all finish watching us, you could click over to get up over there and support Rosenberg on there. Kevin, what's going on? Sir, Good morning. How are you? This is Kevin Ortega Rojas.
Laura Styles
There you go.
Ebro Darden
That's right. Of. Here's why I just call him here's why Kevin. But I think you actually have a real name.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Yeah, that's fair. It's okay. Still my name. Hi.
Laura Styles
I feel like. I feel like everyone is like, here's why Kevin when they see you. Right? I mean, listen, that's why people love you. They recognize you for all the amazing work you do online.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Thank you. It's better than that. Like, I think it was, like, the second time I was ever on here, and, like, y' all had, like, a live comment shot, and someone was like, not this gay guy again. No. Hey, hey.
Ebro Darden
Well, guess what? Here's the gay guy again.
Laura Styles
Yes, he will be here plenty of times, and we love him.
Lauren Sisler
But.
Ebro Darden
But you're here today because the last time we had you on, we were talking Nolan Wells.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And I wanted to have you back now because there's been a lot of information, misinformation, speculation, autopsy report, like, and it. And even for me, I haven't had success figuring out, like, what I can. Information is actually trustworthy. Right, Right. As of yesterday, they enhanced the phone call audio, which was a thing. So I wanted to have you on so we could kind of get a clear and concise update on what is happening with the murder of Nolan Wells.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
We can't call it tight with. Legally, we cannot call it a murder yet.
Ebro Darden
Okay, that's good information.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Have the death of Nolan Wells, okay, it's still being investigated, so there's a lot of things have happened, as you said. So, one, the independent autopsy was released by Benjamin Crumps, and this was the
Ebro Darden
one that Colin Kaepernick and others helped. I think even Tyler Perry, some other people contributed.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So Colin Kaepernick funded the autopsy, which his organization does in the case of, like, mystique, mysterious deaths of, like, young black people, which his organization has jumped into families.
Lauren Sisler
Yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Yes.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
And. And I think Tyler Perry, he pitched in for the funeral. Like, he covered the funeral expenses. Okay. So Nolan Wells was buried last week. And then I think about two days later, Ben Crumps, who's the family's attorney, they released the results of their independent autopsy, which was the one that Kaepernick had funded. And so the findings of the autopsy, I think there's, like, the biggest takeaways is there were no fractures or deep tissue injuries that that medical examiner found. There was discoloration on the back of Nolan's head, but there were no lacerations. But that does not rule out blunt force trauma, because there isn't always a last. A laceration as a result does not rule out. Does not rule it out. Okay, and then they did mention that the body was significantly decomposed because, one, he was in the water for at least two days, as far as we know, or we can assume. And then it had been several days because the county kept the body. And then they did the initial autopsy there with the medical examiner and then shipped the body, which was delayed by a storm, and then they finally did the autopsy. So it had been several days before they got to do this inspection. And so they said that's because the body was significantly decomposed. Sometimes that can suppress evidence, like bruising.
Laura Styles
Correct.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
But they didn't see any. And then the inside structure of his throats was not sent over to D.C. with his body.
Ebro Darden
So. Pause right there, because that was one of them, for me, a major detail.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Why are body parts missing?
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So the independent medical examiner that Ben Crump's law firm hired to do this independent autopsy said that they assume that they kept the inside structure of Nolan Wells throat in order to do further testing, which they say in their report they would have done too, if they were the ones who did the initial autopsy.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So it doesn't sound. Or at least in their report, in their opinion, it doesn't sound like something that people should be concerned about, but I know we've lost trust in them to hear it.
Ebro Darden
Well, we've lost trust. Well, I mean, it's Mississippi, so I never had trust. But the fact that you're keeping body parts, claiming you're going to do more investigation on this specific body part.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So I mean, what's. What is important to note is that the independent medical examiner said that they assume that they're doing further testing, but they did not get a report or
Ebro Darden
an opinion from the state of Mississippi or the county.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Correct. So. So they're going off of, hey, what it looks like here is if I did the initial autopsy, I also would have kept, you know, this inside structure, do further testing, and maybe that's why they kept it. I do think it's important, but this
Ebro Darden
has been multiple days now, so you would think that that county would say either, yes, that's exactly what we're doing.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Right.
Ebro Darden
Or we haven't heard anything. So you're letting us assume there is. That you're hiding something.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
There is reason to it, which I. Which I'll get to in a second. But I do think it's important. Important that the independent autopsy, the manner of death and the cause of death were inconclusive pending their investig. Independent investigation. But also because of the fact that the inside structure of his throat is missing, they can't say whether or not it was a drowning. So I do think it's important because it does seem as if Jackson County, Mississippi is hindering their independent investigation by not allowing you to even look at things that would let you get to an end result.
Ebro Darden
And we can't trust Mississippi. There's history tied there.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Why would we trust these people?
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So two of Nolan's friends. Friends, I don't know what to call them at this point, have done podcast interviews with Officer Tatum or Captain Tatum. I don't know what he is.
Laura Styles
Who's that?
Kevin Ortega Rojas
He's a. He's a black MAGA podcaster. Apparently. He's very. He has like 2 million subscribers on YouTube. I. I never heard of this man before, but they sat down with him and it was Warren and then Tristan. They both did interviews with him where they sat down.
Ebro Darden
So wait, tell my tell. Yeah, hang On. So they decided the best place to go was to a conservative MAGA podcast,
Kevin Ortega Rojas
who immediately said his friends had nothing to do with it. And I finished watching the interview today.
Ebro Darden
Nah, bro. It was too much for me. No, I'm out, by the way. I'm out. I'm out on letting y' all try to finesse me into believing that this is, like, should. This is fat. You're moving. Foul. This is foul play from the rip.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
I. I think this is.
Ebro Darden
All the families decided the best place for us to go was to a black MAGA podcast. Nah, bro.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
In the last. In the last interview clip that did with God, yes, he. Warren tells him because Tatum asked him, like, well, why'd you decide to talk now? And why'd you decide to talk only to me? And Warren was like, well, you've been on our side this whole time.
Laura Styles
Oh, okay.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So we felt.
Ebro Darden
What side is that?
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Defending them off the rip.
Ebro Darden
Like, they could have went to. Good morning. What do you mean, defending them? There's Right. People just want answers.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So I just.
Ebro Darden
You could have went to Good Morning America. You could have went to these real, like, news, middle of the road.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
But why do that when you can talk to someone who's already decided that you're in a.
Ebro Darden
But that is peculiar. Yeah, that is, you know, suspicious.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So there's been a ton of stuff. You mentioned the call, which. It was an emergency dispatch call where the group of kids, people who were on the boat, called for an emergency towing because they said their boat was sinking. In the background of that call, people hear or think that they're hearing people talk about Nolan, that they're claiming he's dead. They're asking if he's dead. They're freaking out. They sound really panicked. Someone, an audio engineer, did separate the audio of the dispatch caller from the phone call that was being made and enhanced it. I'm not going to say definitively that what people are claiming to hear is what I said. That's really hard for me because what happens is that when you transcribe muffled audio and you tell people, hey, this is what's being said, it's very easy to hear it.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
I just. I'm not gonna claim, but I do think that the most important thing.
Ebro Darden
But the fact that you went and sat down with a block black MAGA podcast. I believe the audio now.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
I mean, I, I. Warren wasn't even there on that boat.
Laura Styles
Like, so why is he doing interviews?
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Because he was with the group and he's in the photos. I just it's very, to me, it's all very contrived at this point because now we're trying to figure out where these 30. Because it's 30 people who were with Nolan that day. So we're trying to figure out who was on what.
Ebro Darden
Listen, at this point, we don't know exactly how Nolan was killed. You individuals are responsible for the death. Death of that black boy. And you're moving like you're responsible for the death of that black.
Laura Styles
What is the overall like consensus? Like what are they saying that happened?
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So they claim that the last time that they saw Nolan was at 3 and they left Horn island at 4:30.
Laura Styles
So they left him by himself. The group leaves him, allegedly. Okay, yeah.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
And so they say that they left at 4:30, but the last time that they saw Nolan was 90 minutes before that. And now Tatum and TMZ as of last night are claiming to have evidence and, or witness statements claiming that other people saw Nolan at 7 as late as 6pm which is way after the group left.
Laura Styles
Right, right, right.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
But none of that evidence has been shared publicly. So no one knows why they're claiming this.
Laura Styles
So walk me through the phone situation. So the phone was left on the boat.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So the phone was left on the boat when they got back to the. When they got back to land, they put it in Wyatt's car and then they took it to the house. And then even that story again. I just think a lot of this is very convoluted at this point because if you pay attention to details in each individual story from Nolan's parents, Nolan's parents, friends, the people who were with Nolan that day, the details don't add up because they're claiming Nolan's phone was on the boat. He didn't ask for it back. We didn't think to give it to him because everyone's phones were on the boat. Sure. We got back to shore, we realized that we had it. Wyatt put it in his truck. He was going to give it to him later. Then Nolan's parents friend came over to pick up the phone, but she claims that the phone was inside. But they claim that the phone was still in the truck.
Laura Styles
Yeah. And then I heard that the family did a little bit of research and I guess they use like lifelock or
Kevin Ortega Rojas
one of those Life360.
Laura Styles
Life360 to kind of locate some of the data to see if they could just, if. If the points would align. So I read that they found interesting information that again, didn't match what people are saying.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
It's again, all very confusing, but I think the most important thing for people to, I think, at this point, think about, because I keep reminding folks, like, there's a lot of people online who, we have, to be honest, are making a lot of money off this story at this point.
Ebro Darden
Correct.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
There's so many pages. If you have. If your Instagram page has more updates than the family has been able to share, you're milking this. And I think that that is a problem. So I have not even really talked about this. I as much because we don't have a lot to go off of besides the autopsy report that was shared with us. But I think people should know sort of what the process is looking like going forward. So last week, the Jackson county district attorney released a statement where she said, there's an investigation still going on. At the end of this investigation, we'll present the findings to a grand jury who will decide whether or not to, you know, file indictments. And included in that evidence, she says, is the autopsy. So maybe that's why the esophagus or, you know, the internal structure of his throat was kept, because it's evidence. And so they're not allowing that out into the public.
Laura Styles
Okay.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
So she says that all evidence will be presented to a grand jury. So to walk you through sort of what that process looks like, the grand jury in Jackson, Mississippi, is one of the busiest. So they meet once a month. Other counties in Mississippi, sometimes they meet, like, once every three months. And so this investigation is still going on. At the end of the investigation, they're going to convene. Being a grand jury presents the evidence to them. But a grand jury meets in secret. It's in private. It's behind closed doors. It's never public. And a grand jury consists of 15 people, and at least 12 of the jurors have to vote to file indictment. If they file an indictment or they, you know, find that there's probable cause to move forward and it goes to trial, that is when we would hear about the evidence. But if they decide that they are not going to file an indictment, that there are. There's no charges here, the results of the case could be inconclusive.
Laura Styles
Oh, my God.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
And the details of the case will remain sealed because that information is never shared publicly. Nolan's family will not hear what's being said in the grand jury. They will not be given the evidence. They will not see the details unless it goes past a grand jury. So in my opinion, I do not think that we're ever going to hear about it.
Ebro Darden
So you don't think this grand jury is going to move this forward based on you knowing the history of Mississippi?
Kevin Ortega Rojas
I don't.
Ebro Darden
And how these people are moving right now.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
I don't believe that we're going to get 12 people to rule that they should file indictment. Charge.
Ebro Darden
Well, because when you hear grand jury and all of this secret. This is a secret. People know people, man.
Laura Styles
Yes.
Ebro Darden
You know what I'm saying? They. They know who's on this grand jury.
Laura Styles
And I believe there was a lot of conversation. Conversation. A lot of these young, young folks as parents were very well connected in different ways.
Ebro Darden
Aren't there a couple of judges on these parents or police officers, a doctor?
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Several parents are doctors. One parent is like a judge.
Ebro Darden
So.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
But in my. I just. There's so much being shared online, and this is what I've told people is spreading this misinformation or, like, sharing every conspiracy theory that you hear muddies the water. Because what's. There's. There's no way that you're going to get 15 people in a room who haven't heard about this case and made up their mind.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
And when the story is changing every day, there was a story that, like, I won't repeat it, but there was just a lot of really wild, violent stories that people were claiming people were making face, like, fake Facebook profiles and, like, claiming that they were there that night and they saw Nolan at a pool party and they saw him get beat. It's like, we know that that didn't happen, but you're going to make it so that it's very hard for a grand jury to decide.
Ebro Darden
Well, I think that's also why they go and sit on a podcast that muddies the waters. All of this stuff is a distraction. If they were really trying to figure out why their friend died or how he died or what actually happened, they wouldn't be doing none of this except apologizing. That's the only thing that would be happening. If you knew someone that was hanging out with you and they died and you had to go tell their parent what just happened, you wouldn't be sitting on podcasts. You would be like, yo, this is crazy. It's terrible. I don't know what happened, and I'm gonna be here with you until we figure it out.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
And a lot of people have said, like, they're talking to podcasters, but they're not talking to the police. As far as we know, everyone who's
Ebro Darden
been involved, well, he's Officer Tatum.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
As far as we know, everyone who was there has cooperated and they met with the police. Also, I saw the mdmr, their official, like, missing person report, which goes, like, well beyond the day that Nolan Wells was reported missing. And all three boats, like, the GPS of all three boats was tracked. All the families allowed MDMR to come onto their vessels to, like, use their data and to pull their GPS information. But again, that's probably evidence that we won't see. But what I think is weird about all those interviews is how emotionless they are. It's not that they're talking, because I
Ebro Darden
honestly just think that, you know, something happened and they don't want to be accountable for it. And it may not be, you know, the worst case scenario of, like, they killed him because he was black. It may not be that we don't know. And that's why, like, a toxicology report, maybe this esophagus report, something like that. Maybe there's information there. Right. But unfortunately, like, I was thrown. I'm thrown by this whole sitting on a podcast like that. I can't. Yeah, I can't. You can't recover my trust that you decided to go sit on some dude's podcast. You know what I mean? Who. Because he was, like, supportive and he's like a MAGA influencer, and he's black and he's black. Like, it's just too, like, what are you doing? Like, who you think you playing with?
Laura Styles
I don't. What makes me so uncomfortable is the fact that it's like, they could easily say, well, we can't go forward with this because the autopsy is inconclusive. Right. And like you said, the second autopsy that. That Kaepernick paid for, it was. It was been so long. So it. The accuracy levels are even, like, lower.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Yeah.
Laura Styles
So I don't know. I'm just. You just blew my mind with the fact that we could possibly never know any of this information or the family we will ever get.
Ebro Darden
Well, and once again, there's history tied to this. What you're seeing, for me, at least I'll speak for myself, is the fact that I'm traumatized by a nation and the history of a nation where this has happened to black people countless times. Literally. Right now there's a story breaking about a young woman that was found hanging from a tree outside a church that she didn't attend. Her name is Juliana Zumba. And Zita, this happened in May.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
The police and where she's from ruled it as a suicide. Can you have those Slides.
Laura Styles
I don't understand.
Ebro Darden
Shout out to Kaseem Rashid. May 8. 17 year old hanging from a tree. Twice the height. Twice her height outside of Black Church. She was hanged by a cargo truck. Ratchet strap. They call it a suicide, I think. Go to the next slide. I think there's multiple slides. Charlotte Mecklenburg.
Laura Styles
The police didn't question the man who found her body.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Her missing cell phone.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Did not perform an autopsy.
Laura Styles
Why?
Ebro Darden
Within days. Ruled in a homicide and closed the case.
Laura Styles
But look, her family are immigrants from the Congo. They're demanding further investigation. But it's a time right now where it's like, why would they. They're immigrants.
Ebro Darden
Well, and I hate this for our family, but welcome to America, man. That's my point.
Laura Styles
Oh, my God.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
There was also a. A black woman on Juneteenth weekend in Florida who was visiting and she was found hanging from a tree. And it was ruled a suicide. It's like she doesn't even live here. She was there for vacation. So it happens way too frequently.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
But I think what is most frustrating about the Nolan Wells case is it feels like they're playing in your face when they're like, we're doing an investigation. You'll never hear about it, but we promise we're doing something. That's what it feels like.
Laura Styles
Right, right, right.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
And Nolan Wells's family is also really frustrated right now. And I know I've spoken to people connected to their legal team who say it feels like they're playing with us by the. By delaying this autopsy. I think that they tried to, you know, extend an olive branch by releasing their findings first and hoping that the county would respond, but instead they just put out a statement saying the autopsy results are sealed. So.
Ebro Darden
Wow.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Yeah. So that's. That's where the case is now. I don't think that we're going to have any significant updates, at least for a couple of weeks. I know that Nolan Wells's family and their legal team are doing an independent investigation of their own, but these people don't have to talk to them. That. That is. That is my fear. Like Warren and all these people who are involved. This guy Bart, who initially said that he wasn't even there that day, but his name is being repeated on that phone call. That was also something that I think people were really upset about. He, like, left a comment when Nolan first died and was like, hey, by the way, I haven't been in Mississippi. I also lost a friend. Like, I'm also really sad. And then it turns out that he Was there because his name is being yelled on that phone call several times. So, again, everything is very convoluted and messy, and I just don't think that we're gonna get anywhere anytime soon, unfortunately.
Ebro Darden
Well, Kevin Rojas. Ortega. Or here's why.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Kevin.
Ebro Darden
All right, I messed it up. Ortega, Rojas. Here's why. Kevin. On Instagram and all the social platforms.
Laura Styles
Yes.
Ebro Darden
Thank you for your time today.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
I appreciate it.
Ebro Darden
Laura, you ready to get to the gurus?
Laura Styles
Sure.
Lauren Sisler
Hey, yo.
Ebro Darden
It's time for the gurus. Rosenberg. Laura, you know you are a beautiful queen. Ebro, don't ever play yourself. You're not a guru.
Laura Styles
The Original Gurus. Gmail.com. the Original Gurus. Gmail.com. email us. Ebro, stop grunting.
Ebro Darden
And Zed, that's me trying to Zen. Trying to get to a real.
Laura Styles
Okay, so, guys, this is an update. And honestly, this is shady and messy. Ebro. So remember yesterday we read the email and we played the song from Bob Doe? Yeah, Bob. I wrote back. He sounds like a great guy, right? Just thanking us for, you know, playing his song and giving him feedback. So we saw that.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
Okay?
Laura Styles
Now, producer Griff gave me this email, and it says the subject is the best friend of Bob Doe.
Ebro Darden
The best friend of Bob Doe.
Laura Styles
This is a lot. And there's no punctuation, so bear with me.
Ebro Darden
So he's already lost credibility with. You wrote too much and no punctuation. Laura's out.
Laura Styles
All right, here we go. He says, so I want you to give the other side to Bob Doe or the anonymous letter. First. I'll address.
Ebro Darden
Can we pause for a second? The anonymous. So. And, Laura, you weren't here for the anonymous letter, but you were here for yesterday.
Laura Styles
Yes.
Ebro Darden
I don't even remember what was in the anonymous letter, so good luck, y'.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
All.
Ebro Darden
This is gonna be a mess.
Laura Styles
Okay, okay, okay. First, I'll address the BM situation.
Ebro Darden
Baby mama.
Laura Styles
When we were younger, we were all friends. I was talking to her, and we was bonding. But he got with her, so I fell back. Then they broke up, and she started flirting with me. I told Bob Doe that she was flirting with me, and he said he didn't care. Do what you got to do. So I did. I did what I had to do for a little while. Fast forward. He tells me that they got back together, and I told him that me and her did what we did, but he said he wasn't tripping. And then they got married, and I didn't talk to them for a few years, mainly because it was Weird. But they had kids and been divorced for about 20 years. And I haven't talked to each other for seven.
Ebro Darden
Divorced for 20, I guess you said.
Laura Styles
Okay. Also, I remember.
Ebro Darden
And by the way, sorry, Laura, I remember a little bit now about the Bob Doe anonymous letter. That was because we thought. Yes, we thought Bob Doe was the anonymous name. Come to find out, was his real name. And that was about his. His. His ex. Him moving on from his ex who now had hooked up with his best friend.
Laura Styles
That's what it sounds like.
Ebro Darden
And his best friend. And he was like, should I even try to be friends with this dude anymore? Because now I found out he didn't bag my wife.
Laura Styles
Okay.
Ebro Darden
And he found it out through his daughter or something like that.
Laura Styles
So he says. Also, we both have had sex with the same girl more than once.
Ebro Darden
Oh.
Laura Styles
He even had sex with one of my old girlfriends. So I really didn't think he would be mad about this. But I did stop talking to her because I felt it was nasty work. All right. The best friend part, I don't know where that came from. We were cool, but since he had cut off a few of our friends and things have been different, we haven't really talked much. He's never been to my crib. No call, no text for my birthdays. And when we were going through some things, I was there for him in a real way. When I went through something similar, he didn't even call or text me to check on his quote, unquote best friend. That's probably when my relationship with him really changed. Glad he got his song played on your show, though.
Ebro Darden
So bro is claiming that he's not even really friends like that with Bob, though, man. Hey, yo, Bob, though. They playing in your face.
Laura Styles
I. This is a lot.
Ebro Darden
They playing in your face. He wasn't really your friend.
Kevin Ortega Rojas
No.
Ebro Darden
Your baby moms and him. He done bagged your baby mom. Sound like you don't keep. Keep tapping. Oh, yeah.
Laura Styles
This is messy. This is like a weird love triangle.
Ebro Darden
Hey, yo, Denver. Hey, yo, Denver. What's going on,
Laura Styles
Bob? Don't get out. You don't need any of this. Just work on your music, and hopefully you'll hit us with another. With another tune that we can play. All right? But I. I think none of this. I think this is a clear case of light it up, Ebro.
Ebro Darden
Oh, man. Burn it down, move on, Bob Doe. Keep doing your music thing. And for the love of God, these people don't give a damn about your feelings. So say the guru.
Laura Styles
Yes, so say the gurus.
Ebro Darden
Good time today. That was fun. Good time, Good time.
Laura Styles
Yes, yes, yes.
Ebro Darden
We had some Tony Yayo, Uncle Murder, Memphis Bleak. We had some nine inches of meat in Joey Chestnut's mouth. We had some. Man, it's crazy today. Crazy. And it doesn't seem like we have a real Nolan Wells view, right? Like, if I still feel like what,
Laura Styles
I feel worse about it. And thank you, shout out to Kevin Ortega Rojas. Here's why Kevin. Follow him. He always gives amazing independent journalism and reporting. But I. I feel worse about the whole thing. Doesn't make me feel better.
Ebro Darden
Well, and I, you know, I try to always refrain from, like, doing the Oppression Olympics, cuz so many different groups in the United States are going through different things.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
But, like, I don't know any group that's still getting hung from trees out here. But, guys, black folks are still getting hung from trees, man.
Laura Styles
With no answers.
Ebro Darden
Like, I want y' all to really soak that up when everybody get to talking about what's going on in the United States, man. Appreciate y' all tuning in. It's Ebro Lauren Rosenberg. See you tomorrow. Just don't follow the podcast.
Episode 150: Nolan Wells Update + Ebro vs The Kids (7/28/26)
Date: July 28, 2026
This episode centers around two major themes:
Additional segments include cultural news (ODB Street naming, the Bleek vs. G-Unit debate), listener calls about parenting, a tribute to competitive eater Joey Chestnut, and the latest on the Celeste Rivas murder case.
[00:19-13:45]
The hosts open with a lively, often exasperated conversation about modern playgrounds, bad parenting, and whether parents should intervene when kids tussle or misbehave.
"So you just gonna let your white kid feel like it could just bully the Black kid at the park?" (Ebro, [02:15])
"The slide thing is one that's happened to me twice...The mom is watching him and not saying anything, and I'm asking him to get down, and he's looking at me like, nope. So after a while, Kenza's like, mom, I'm gonna go down. I said, yep, go ahead. And she slammed right into him." (Laura, [03:01])
"The slide seems like the Wild West." (Rosenberg, [04:28])
"Why are you all up in the crevices of the slide with your big, fat ass?" ([04:28])
"It's a microcosm of why we have a society the way we are. It absolutely is a mirror on society." (Ebro, [11:21])
"If you're being a bitch in society, you got two options...You can go do something else or you could punch him in the face." (Ebro, [12:08])
[14:04-18:32]
"No, bro, he's in the G building doing drugs." (Lauren, [14:33])
[18:43-29:14]
"Imagine having a kid that's autistic, man...you definitely got to stand up..." (Marcel, [19:04])
"Yes, I'm watching all the kids. If your kids acting up, I'm coming over there." (Milagro, [28:20])
[29:41-37:41]
"The only Bleek verse I ever like is the one Jay Z wrote." (Uncle Murda, [31:44]) "But what about the difference is work. We stand on our own two and they're all 50. They need 50 to eat. That was the whole thing." (Lauren, [33:35])
[41:08-61:15]
The central focus of the episode.
"I never had trust. But the fact that you're keeping body parts..." (Ebro, [44:29])
"So they decided the best place to go was to a conservative MAGA podcast..." (Ebro, [46:20])
"I don't think that we're going to get 12 people to rule that they should file indictment..." (Kevin, [53:41]) "But the fact that you went and sat down with a black MAGA podcast. I believe the audio now." (Ebro, [48:44])
"Welcome to America, man. That's my point." (Ebro, [59:05])
"What is most frustrating about the Nolan Wells case is it feels like they're playing in your face when they're like, we're doing an investigation. You'll never hear about it, but we promise we're doing something." (Kevin, [59:31])
"Like, I want y'all to really soak that up when everybody get to talking about what's going on in the United States, man." (Ebro, [66:42])
[26:10-27:36]
[37:41-39:14]
[39:43-40:06]
[61:18-65:42]
“Light it up, Ebro. Burn it down, move on, Bob Doe. Keep doing your music thing. And for the love of God, these people don't give a damn about your feelings.” (Laura, [65:33])
“You gotta teach kids how to interact so they can have, like, politeness and, you know, empathy and learn how to share. And these things take adults participation.” (Ebro, [28:35])
"There is a reason to it, which I'll get to in a second. But I do think it's important...it does seem as if Jackson County, Mississippi is hindering their independent investigation by not allowing you to even look at things that would let you get to an end result." (Kevin, [45:21])
"Black folks are still getting hung from trees, man. With no answers." (Ebro, [66:53])
For those who missed it:
This episode is a real-time window into parenting anxieties, cultural beefs, and the urgent, unresolved grief of a Black community wrestling with another suspicious death. The hosts balance worldly wariness and comedy with empathy and deep anger, all while emphasizing the importance of vigilance, community, and keeping the pressure on for truth—even when the odds seem rigged.
