Ebro Darden
Just don't call it a podcast.
Laura Rosenberg
The Ebro Laura Rosenberg show.
Guest or Contributor
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Friday, Friday vibes.
King Louie
It's, you know.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
King Louie
It's truly become fought Friday because the truest of the foughts join us on Patreon.
Laura Rosenberg
Correct.
Ebro Darden
Well, listen, I don't know if I
King Louie
love that because you could be the truest of fats but not have the extra money.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
That's.
King Louie
Let me say it again, the truest of the FS who have the extra money Friday. It doesn't really hit the way it's supposed to, but. No, in all seriousness, we do know there are some people out there who just can't do it well.
Ebro Darden
And I think, full disclosure, we. We felt for a while since we started Patreon that we wanted to be able to give the people who are able to pay for Patreon extra content that doesn't go out on the free platform. So that's really what that is.
King Louie
Sure, I agree. Well, and you know, initially, when we started the show, the idea was we wanted to keep people in a pattern. They were used to. Of you were used to getting our show all the time for free. So we wanted to give that to people as much as we could. But we were also on the fly kind of figuring out what does this whole thing look like long term, when
Ebro Darden
you can tell by what this whole thing looks like. And I mean literally looks like Rosenberg dressed up.
Guest or Contributor
You know what I mean?
Ebro Darden
Iron shirt, nice tie, ready for television. The fact that we're, you know, figuring out how to give you guys extra content on Patreon while balancing our very busy schedules because, well, you're the ones
King Louie
that, the ones that make sure the lights down, those ones are important.
Ebro Darden
I don't know if I like that either.
King Louie
Okay.
Ebro Darden
Because there's lights on in here and there's people paying for Patreon and so they're making sure that those people, they're
King Louie
keeping these lights off.
Ebro Darden
That's right.
King Louie
But I have to keep the lights on in my house.
Laura Rosenberg
Right.
Ebro Darden
And it requires extra work. And you wear this suit, this shirt and tie. That's all I'm saying. Like, we gotta be careful with our language. Is really awesome.
King Louie
Very good point. And also, I don't even know what my deal is. Monday, Monday I fly back from Minneapolis dumb early.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
King Louie
Like, what are you doing SummerSlam this weekend? Okay, so you're wearing purple. It looks like you're ready for the event. It's in Minnesota.
Laura Rosenberg
It's in Minnesota.
King Louie
That's right. So SummerSlam Saturday and Sunday, I'm flying back Monday. And it was a. Either fly back at like 11am and probably missed the start of my afternoon show. But I really don't like waking up early the day after, like a weekend of hard work. I really hate it.
Ebro Darden
So you're not coming Monday? Is this what you're talking about?
King Louie
No, no, no, no. So in the end. So it was just. So I'm just gonna be completely transparent. I was gonna cut it close for my afternoon show. Missed this show completely.
Ebro Darden
Oh, blow us off.
King Louie
Oh, yeah. This was done. I was not doing it. I'm taking off Monday and I'm gonna maybe make it back in time for my other job.
Laura Rosenberg
Damn. Okay.
King Louie
But the only seats available were like 37F.
Ebro Darden
Got it.
King Louie
So I'm now on the 6am on Monday morning or 5am Something like that. So I still don't know if I'm making it here. My guess is no.
Ebro Darden
No, you're not making it here.
King Louie
How far is Minnesota?
Ebro Darden
If you leave Minnesota at 6:00am it's already 8:00am here. No, 7:00am or 7:00am here.
King Louie
Yeah, you're right. I'm on the first thing smoking. But I'm not making it.
Ebro Darden
Who should we have fill in for him?
King Louie
You want to have someone fill in for me? It's not a bad idea.
Ebro Darden
I'm talking to Laura. You're not going to be here?
Laura Rosenberg
No.
Let me think about it. Let me think about it.
Ebro Darden
Think about what we want to do on Monday.
Guest or Contributor
Your.
King Louie
Your last get. Your last suggestion turned out great.
Ebro Darden
Who's that?
King Louie
Tony Baker.
Ebro Darden
Tony. Oh, yep. That was the Ebro Rosenberg and Tony show.
King Louie
Yeah. That was awesome.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, well, Tony seemed like a lot of fun.
King Louie
He was awesome.
Ebro Darden
Great guy.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Can't wait to. Maybe Hassan Piker will be in town. He could wear a cool outfit.
King Louie
I doubt it. That's a good idea. So, something to think about.
Ebro Darden
Something to think about. Well, on Fridays when you guys tune in, we like to get to something we call what we missed. Right. I'm sure there's some goings ons, but we like to get to things that we thought we wanted to cover but didn't have time to get.
King Louie
That's right.
Ebro Darden
Rosenberg has some things. Laura, you have some things to start with you.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, I mean, we have video number four. This is something we. And people were asking me, like, how come you guys didn't touch on this? This is my son talking about Colin Kaepernick.
Guest or Contributor
Remember?
Laura Rosenberg
That was a big conversation. So let's watch the clip.
Guest or Contributor
How you feel about the Kaepernick slander
Ebro Darden
that they Give Jay.
Laura Rosenberg
We're dealing with the NFL.
Guest or Contributor
Let me give you my perspective from the inside. When the whole Kaepernick thing first started, my organization was one of the first organizations to protest with Kaepernick. We went to the NFL, had a big protest outside the NFL downtown headquarters. We was at the headquarters. Like we spearheaded all of that. We was on emails with Kaepernick like I was Frontline. I had I'm with cap T shirts. We trying to boycott this and that. I see Jay come in, he got the cabinet jersey. He front and center with it. One day Kaepernick stopped answering phone calls. We planned the next action. We on the email. They like your cabin is not answering nobody's emails. He done left the group chats.
Damn.
I'm telling you this for a fact. So I'm like, what you mean he left it? Like we don't know and this happened for weeks. So I'm like, what you mean he left the group chat? He's like, nah, they like he just went silent on us. And then next thing you know, we seen Kaepernick has a settlement. He got a settlement. They say he signed the NDA. And I'm like, he didn't tell us.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
He didn't.
Guest or Contributor
So you saying that we did all of this that sacrificed and beefing with other and we doing all this and a we sacrificed for just disappeared from the movement and didn't even notify us and say yo, look. And he should have took a settlement because they owed him his money.
That's right.
But he owe owed us the people that sacrificed with him the right and just the heads up to say this is what we doing. I did to tell me I'm lying. And that hurt me because I'm a cat and I still love what he does to this day, bro. I love. He got the. I know your rights. And I'm not saying anything against what he sacrificed even he just paid for the young boys autopsy. All these things. I love what he does, but I just don't like this narrative that did dirty by him when he literally left.
Ebro Darden
And I'm.
Guest or Contributor
And if that's what you wanted to do, I'm just saying I would have never did.
Ebro Darden
That's right. So what's the problem there?
Laura Rosenberg
So people were taking it as if my son was. Was on Kaepernick.
Ebro Darden
Well, I watched the entire clip and that's not what I got from it. So what's the next issue?
Laura Rosenberg
And then people were like, oh, because of your Roc Nation ties? What Roc Nation ties Bro, everyone has Roc Nation ties.
King Louie
My son.
Laura Rosenberg
Yes.
Ebro Darden
Well, I mean, he's on Bleak's podcast.
Laura Rosenberg
Yes.
Ebro Darden
I mean, so maybe because he was on the podcast. I mean, you know how it goes. You go to a brunch one time.
King Louie
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
You're on the paper.
Laura Rosenberg
But wait, I do remember. Do. I remember having Tamika Mallory on our show and Tamika telling us when they were protesting Harden Ferguson, who paid for all their security, who took care of them?
King Louie
Jay.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Guest or Contributor
Yeah.
Laura Rosenberg
So I. Because I remember that conversation. She. I remember them being in danger and he came and it wasn't a public thing until she said it. You know what I mean? They were like, he took care of us. He made sure that we were all saved. Her, Carmen Perez and, you know, the. The whole squad.
Guest or Contributor
So.
Ebro Darden
Well, even the whole Reform alliance thing, right? Like, that's Jay and Roc Nation and them trying to change state policy and connect. Even the whole Kushner brunch thing that people. Well, I saw Beyonce at the table, blah, blah, blah.
King Louie
That was in Atlantic City.
Ebro Darden
I believe that was a fundraiser, like it was, you know, and look, I get that people have problems with these, and I get that not everybody's going to like every move that.
King Louie
James, are you trying to say that Jay Z does good things and then sometimes he misses and that even Colin Kaepernick generally does amazing things, but maybe he has. Has had moments that wasn't perfect for other people? Are you saying that human beings are human and not everything and not everyone is perfect all the time? This is crazy, because I just saw my son hold Jay accountable while also showing him love. And I just saw him hold in this clip. And again, I don't. I wasn't there, so I don't know. Holding in his eyes, holding Colin accountable for what he thinks he did while also giving him love. I don't think you can give my son. I don't think he could do much better than that in terms of at least telling what is his truth. Unless he's outright lying.
Ebro Darden
Pick a side, Rosenberg.
Guest or Contributor
Pick a side.
King Louie
But does the Internet know? They don't know, Laura.
Laura Rosenberg
No, they don't. But they want him to. Pick a side.
Ebro Darden
Pick a side. Monkey in the middle.
Laura Rosenberg
Always a hundred percent on one side or 100% on.
Ebro Darden
Stand in the middle of the road,
Laura Rosenberg
you get run over, which I think is ridiculous. But.
King Louie
No, it is. That is what they say, though it is true.
Ebro Darden
But yeah, I saw other people you say that is what they saying. It is true. Sometimes.
King Louie
Sometimes it is.
Ebro Darden
Pick a side. No, but sometimes. But there's also. It's nuance. Like there's. Look, you know, multiple things can be true at the same exact time. Meaning what? Cap and my son and his and what they were doing, protesting the NFL prompted the NFL to change things inside the NFL, which we saw. Right. Hiring people, community outreach, doing things that were beneficial to the communities that most of the players come from. Right. Kaepernick's work did that. It could also be true that they owed Kaepernick money. And as we know, and anybody who's been through a settlement where the company knows that when they pay you the money they owe you, they ask you to sign a document, a non disparagement agreement.
Laura Rosenberg
That's right.
Ebro Darden
That legally prevents you from saying things about them.
King Louie
But do we even know that that really happened?
Laura Rosenberg
Because.
Ebro Darden
No, I'm just saying it could be true. Multiple things could be true.
Laura Rosenberg
I think Jamel Hill came out and said that he didn't.
Ebro Darden
He signed.
Laura Rosenberg
Sign that. Yes, I believe so. Louie, can you look it up?
Guest or Contributor
Just.
Yeah.
Laura Rosenberg
I just want to make sure.
Ebro Darden
I saw Jamel tweet that something about Jay started talking to the NFL before Kaepernick signed that document. That could also be true. All of these things could be true.
King Louie
I'm going to say something I felt for a long time, and I say this as someone who loves Cap. Last time I saw him said, hey, can my daughter take a picture with you? I want her love.
Ebro Darden
Cap just hugged him a week ago.
King Louie
But no, I want my daughter to take a picture with a hero. Like, that's how I view him. But a lot of this stuff could also get help if he spoke. I've always felt that way. Like, you know, like have a conversation. I would love to just hear him say, like, there's so many things that could be cleared up. I feel like through conversation that never.
Ebro Darden
But I think there's also a world where we forget The San Francisco 49ers fully supported Colin Kaepernick's activism.
King Louie
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
That happened. It was an NFL team.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
Okay.
Ebro Darden
Other NFL owners and coaches actively colluded to try to make sure he didn't get other.
King Louie
That's how it seems to me.
Guest or Contributor
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
I mean, we. I mean, that's what investigative reporting claimed. Right. From Convos and interviews and whatever that also happened. These are all documented things. What do we want Cap to say? Like.
King Louie
Well, like, like right now, if people are all saying different, I guess he couldn't come out. Well, he could come out and say, I didn't sign an NDA.
Ebro Darden
Right.
King Louie
You could say that now. If you did sign one, I suppose you wouldn't say anything.
Ebro Darden
Well, and you couldn't. Or you could. Yeah.
King Louie
You know, but generally over time, I've just felt like there have been different moments where I thought it would have been good for him to speak after the tryout where there was all kinds of talk about what happened at the tryout. Remember the tryout moved. That just came up again recently. People, like, question. People have questioned him many times. And I just like, feel like he could easily end a bunch of things by speaking because he's on. He's always been doing the right thing. If you're always doing the right thing, which I believe he always has been to me, there's never harm in talking. You know what I mean?
Laura Rosenberg
I hear you.
Ebro Darden
There it is. What else did we miss?
King Louie
The lotto Doja Cat thing.
Ebro Darden
What's this thing?
Laura Rosenberg
Rosenberg loves this one.
King Louie
I don't.
Ebro Darden
Oh, yeah, you brought it up earlier.
King Louie
I love it. I want to see them half naked in this video. But it wasn't me. It hit my algorithm that there was controversy.
Ebro Darden
All right, let's watch. Do we have?
King Louie
Do we have.
Ebro Darden
I was curious as to why people
Guest or Contributor
were finding the Lotto and Doja Cat video to be problematic, so I went to go watch it, cuz, you know, I'm nosy or whatever. So at first I'm like, okay, you got a bunch of dark skinned niggas that do rags. There's worse, right? There's, like, worse, but it's. It's not great. It's, you know, all right, they all doing push ups.
Whatever.
This does look like, like found nigga footage. I. I don't know. This is a particularly crazy shot. Just a bunch of niggas in the background. Do a push, push ups for you while, you know, you like skin and stuff. I was like, okay, okay, okay. That's normal, like, kind of problem. You know, it's like, ah, you know, that's not great. It's weird imagery. Do not dress like this anymore. But it is. Whatever. It's like, I. I get it. The imagery is bad. But then, okay, this is where I was actually like, oh, okay, I like. It's a good song.
Ebro Darden
But, you know, we get to Doja's part.
Guest or Contributor
So, you know, it's Doja, she looks good or whatever. It's like, oh, yeah, okay, Doja Cat
now what the
Doja girl, why are
Patreon Team Member or Producer
you in a prison?
Ebro Darden
Okay, okay, this is. This is where it jumps.
Guest or Contributor
I saw that they responded and they were like, oh, you know. We're trying to show like positive imagery of like attraction to dark skinned. Why are you in a prison visitation room? Like, like that's a problem. Like, and that.
King Louie
So I watched the whole video.
Guest or Contributor
You know, here he is feigning for the, for the unreachable light skin. I. You know, genuinely without the prison visitation scene, it would still be a little problematic. It'd be like, okay, like the imagery of this looks kind of crazy, but, you know, that's crazy. There's no. What. How is that supposed to be artistically interpreted? You know, when it finishes out, niggas washing, washing the car. Oh, man. I. If you didn't want this to look like your Mandingo army, then you probably. There's people who could get away with
Ebro Darden
this, just not these two specifics that
Guest or Contributor
have originally been mutated. Lotto. And then you also can't be doing tag team with. With showing feet in racial chat and then do the. And then have your Mandigo army cleaning your car. I.
Ebro Darden
No, he's valid.
King Louie
That's Christian.
Ebro Darden
No way around it.
King Louie
That's Christian Divine on Instagram. X, I, A, N D I V, Y, N E. Very good.
Ebro Darden
No, there's no way around it. I hadn't, I hadn't seen it. There's no way around it. What he's saying is super valid.
King Louie
So I watched the whole video. I did the research. Yeah, I was willing to do that. When I saw. I said, I'll sacrifice and watch this. And he covered it all. That is the video.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, it is.
King Louie
The two scenes he showed.
Ebro Darden
He's not trying to.
King Louie
It is the video. Like there's nothing else to it. It's them being very provocative with dark skinned men with the jewelry and do rags doing push ups. Then one in jail. The one it's, you know, I wasn't going to personally use the phrase Mandingo army, but he summed it up well,
Ebro Darden
Well, I mean, he added some comedic elements to it, but there's no way around it. They missed it. They, they, they, they missed it, whoever shot it.
King Louie
But why would you. Why would you what? As he pointed out, as Christian pointed out, what would be the artistic interpretation of it specifically being dark skinned men all dressed like this, all in this role, then what, what would you be going for?
Ebro Darden
Well, it speaks to the ignorance of not only Doja and Lotto, unfortunately, who both people I like, but it speaks to their ignorance of not understanding and the teams around them not understanding the, the historical ramifications of the imagery that they're showing. But how like they're just. Look, they both may love dark skinned men. They both may love. That might be their preference, bro. But if you, if you. But why do they have to be in jail and why do they have to be doing push ups and why do they have to be washing cars?
Laura Rosenberg
Why.
Ebro Darden
Why you have to be wearing Asian
King Louie
women and you had them all serving you wearing traditional like geisha out geisha outfits. And they were like on hands and knees, serving. Oh, but I love Asian women, bruh. That's not how you show loving.
Ebro Darden
Right?
King Louie
That's just not it.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, they missed it with that. They missed it and it's going to haunt them. Because Lotto, original name Mulatto was a problem. That was a thing. Doa. The chat room thing, the. The. The other shirt wearing a weird. All the T shirt, all of that stuff is going to keep coming back. You guys keep me. Like, you guys don't have anyone around
King Louie
you that's like you guys style. Why don't people just go, hey, we're not gonna do that?
Laura Rosenberg
I don't understand that either. Especially at the caliber of.
Guest or Contributor
They're both a huge artist.
King Louie
Anyways, we got. We gotta go to Patreon, though.
Ebro Darden
Oh, it's hot.
King Louie
It's hot.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
King Louie
It's if. If you have it and you want to come to Patreon. Well, I'm going to work.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, you gotta go.
King Louie
We're all right.
Ebro Darden
We want you to stay involved though, in Fridays and Family Fridays, which we do do on Patreon, but if you're not over there with us, send us an email so we can cover it here too. Ebro Laura Rosenberg Gmail. Send us an email voice note. We get videos too. So yeah, send it to us so we can include you in it because I think there's a number of people and also people on Patreon and we'll talk about on Patreon. But at any rate, are y' all too cool or something to send us a voice note, video or email?
Laura Rosenberg
Nah, come on, man, just send it, please.
Ebro Darden
I guess they're figuring like, yo, we send y' all money, y' all asking too much, and now y' all want email voice.
King Louie
Not programming your damn show.
Laura Rosenberg
We just want to feature you. Come on.
Ebro Darden
All right, y', all. We'll see y' all over there. All right, Peace. Rosenberger. So, yo, we gotta, we gotta. I know we was talking about it earlier, but so now that we do the family Friday on Patreon, the emails, the Ebro Laura Rosenberg Gmail emails, the family Friday, the Free Friday, Freedom. Friday, Friday, Freedom. All the titles we didn't do at this thing. We don't get as many emails and voice notes. Cuz I guess, you know, more of the people that watch on YouTube, you, Patreon, you guys are probably like, yo, we giving y' all enough. We give y' all money.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, but don't we.
Ebro Darden
In the chat, they're like, yo, we not sending voice notes and videos. They too cool for all that.
Laura Rosenberg
Come on, don't be too cool. We want you involved, so we need to hear from you guys. So email us.
Ebro Darden
King L. What's the Patreon vibes now? It's been two weeks where we just been throwing this on Patreon. What's the vibe?
Patreon Team Member or Producer
Yeah, no, Patreon vibes are actually pretty good. We're getting more members.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
You know, and all the comments have been very positive, especially with a lot of the content that we're doing.
Ebro Darden
Okay. So looking good.
Guest or Contributor
Yeah.
All right.
Ebro Darden
I'm into it. Let's see Milagro, who called the other day, she left us a voice note video. Oh, video. Let's look at Milagro's video. I never met Milagro. Let's see what Milagro looking like.
Guest or Contributor
Hey.
Hey, y'. All, it's your girl Millie coming to you from Dallas, Texas. I am a Patreon as well, so shout out to EO Laura Rosenberg for creating just an amazing platform community. It is such a good time over there. If you're not a patron, subscribe.
Ebro Darden
There you go.
Guest or Contributor
So just wanted to come as I was thinking about music and how it's being shared. I know EO was talking about it, I want to say, on the Patreon. Well, on the Patreon, he shared the TI album, but. But was talking about in a previous conversation how music is not being received through the normal media avenues. You know, we don't have the source. We aren't using magazines, we aren't using. People aren't going. And physically just buying albums and stuff like that, or like, you know, street teams and promo teams are out here kind of putting it in your face. So these platforms that are built by people who are heavily in the music industry and know about music and are currently and still listening to music, put people on share these things without having to have a monetary, you know, dollar associated with it because the information needs to be shared. I think so often people get caught up in, like, oh, you know, I can only go in there, you know, when I'm talking about my promo and it's like, no, like, you should be putting people on the music period, whether or not they sitting on your couch or not. Like, share the information.
King Louie
Get.
Guest or Contributor
Get the info out to people. Tell folks what they should be listening to, what is, what is fabulous, and what is garbagio. Okay, don't be afraid of that. But yeah, just get back to sharing music. And. Because if it wasn' for y', all, I want to know about the TI Album so. Well, that it was out because I knew he was making music, but, I mean, come on, we got TI Really Fire. Go check it out. And that is it. So just want to, you know, continue to do your thing. Y' all are out here staying militant, staying vigilant, you know, being a voice in our community. And we truly, truly love and appreciate y', all, for all of y', all, everything that y' all do. And, oh, just real quick, shout out to my business, Outspun Creations. So if you love some really dope crochet items, There you go. I'm your girl. Peace.
Ebro Darden
Y' all support Malagro. Send that to TI So he knows that we've been supporting him on this program. Speaking of, though, you know, did you guys know the Game? And YG dropped a record before the verses last week.
Guest or Contributor
No.
Ebro Darden
Mm, they sure did.
Laura Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro Darden
It's called I See Red People. You know, you know these guys. Let me see if I can find it. It's actually Fire produced by the Game and Swizz Beat. I mean, by Swizz Beats and Timberland.
Laura Rosenberg
Oh, let's go. I see red people.
Ebro Darden

Laura Rosenberg
All right, let's hear this.
Ebro Darden

Well, but it's also like. I mean, it's.
Laura Rosenberg
I mean, it sounds good.
Ebro Darden
It's generational. Y' all know about this.
Guest or Contributor
Let's take it back to what we what we love it at. How we only could do what we do.
Ebro Darden

TI Rick Ross off the Rick Ross album. Now that's the album. I think 50 was making fun of him because he only sold, like, a few thousand units or something. And then people was trolling me on, trolling me on. What's that platform Twitter talking about? Talking about Rick Ross is just cold. The algorithm ain't hating on Rick Ross. The Rick Ross is this and that and the third. But I got. And I asked you and shout to Milagro. Caught. Did you know Rick Ross put out an eye?
Laura Rosenberg
Yo, I was just gonna say, like, I saw very little promo for Rick Ross's project. Yeah, very little.
Ebro Darden
Well, but. But back to my discussion. Where would you have saw it?
Laura Rosenberg
I mean, I guess on social media.
Ebro Darden
And so you're waiting for the algorithm to serve you up? Rick Ross, I guess. But Rick Ross, is he really, like, he's not. Look, TI Rick R. Think of a lot of them. They're just not. I don't know that the algorithm ain't moving their content around if it's not them doing some shenanigans. Yeah.
Laura Rosenberg
Yes, yes, yes. Did you see any, like, the big, you know, websites cover the album or mention it? Like, the complexes. Did you see any of that?
Patreon Team Member or Producer
I probably passed over, to be honest. But, like, I saw maybe, like a post or something like that. But to be honest, I'm like, album come out two weeks ago. Like, that's what went through my head.
Ebro Darden
Was it supposed to?
Patreon Team Member or Producer
I don't think so. I just think it in my head. I'm like, oh, I thought this was already out.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. On the album, he got this joint with Leon Thomas.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
It's not.
Ebro Darden
What you see in front of you does not represent what you. What you believe is going to happen. It might be completely opposite, but you

I think, is it safe to say that Rick Ross is one of the most underrated rappers within the last 15 years?
Ebro Darden
Like, underrated how? What do you mean? People love Ross. I thought. I mean, he's had hits he's had. People knows. He know he can make those amazing, like those type of records right there. He's got another one with the dream. That's incredible too.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
Yeah.
Laura Rosenberg
You know, people get caught up in his shenanigans online and they forget because
Patreon Team Member or Producer
he's just been consistent. Like, he's one of the most consistent artists within the last 15 years, I think.

Ebro Darden
I would say this, this is what I will say. I think there's too many records.
Laura Rosenberg
How many?
Ebro Darden
There's 19 records on here. I think it's too many. I also think, like when you get. When you try to do too much in one album in this era, like, unless you are a Drake or a Chris Brown or even Chris Brown, a lot of people Was critiquing this last album and saying he did too much on it, but nonetheless, he's on that level.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Guest or Contributor
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
I think it's hard because Ross's fans are older. He never went and, you know, and goofed out and did goofy things to get, you know, and changed his whole thing to chase 17 year olds and 18 year olds.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, I agree with that.
Ebro Darden
Right. Like, he's funny in his own way, but he was never out here, you know, wearing funny clothes to chase, you know, I'm saying a younger audience or, you know, abandoning his other audience and chasing a new sound. He still got same sound, consistent. Yeah. But I think to some degree people would say that maybe that was a mistake. Right. Like some people are willing to bend over backwards to, you know, chase a new audience and change who they are. I think Ross is probably my age. Right. I don't know how Ross is. Yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying? So it. When you're. When you're in your 50s, it's tough to put out music and have 18 to 24 year olds who have all day and all night to stream stuff and have all these, you know, different promotions for young people, streaming stuff. So you're gonna catch them. Ls 50 cent making fun of Ross? You know what I'm saying? The Internet making fun of Ross because he ain't move that many units. But it's great music on there.
Laura Rosenberg
Pull up on Chad Hugo's new song.
Ebro Darden
Oh, that Joint Fire, bro.
Laura Rosenberg
With Tierra Whack and Lakele. I. I was so happy to see Lakele 47 back.

Ebro Darden
Nah, she had a lot of records.
Laura Rosenberg
I love that. And she had such a nice buzz. And Missy Elliott was, you know, champion her. So I'm just happy to see her back.

They sound good together.

And this beat is and dope to see Chad back.

Laura Rosenberg
Fun. This is fun.
Ebro Darden
Nah, it's fire beat. People gonna clip that beat. That's one of those beats and sounds. They gonna license the hell out of that joint. So me and commercials. It's great for a music video. The music video's ill, especially those two creatives.
Laura Rosenberg
Why, you know Tierra Whack is gonna bring it.
Ebro Darden
Yo, shout out to Tyla, who came through and sat down with me on Apple Music too. You know, she got her new project, a pop that got some fire on it too. Some super fire, if you like the. The pop South African sound. Said what? Yeah, I asked her what she learned, man, you know what I'm saying? Because I think, you know, people was like, we still talking about this? And I was kind of like, South Africa's its own universe, man, of.
Guest or Contributor
Of.
Ebro Darden
Of racial dynamics, of socially engineered racial dynamics. America is its own universe of socially engineered racial dynamics. And so, you know, these are all, like, constructs that were created by the colonizer. And so race in itself is different when you go from place to place. She's not from here. She gets here. In South Africa, being black is tied to being Zulu, Xhosa, and these other black African tribes. The, The. The colonizer down in South Africa, the people who, you know, enacted apartheid down there, separated individuals who were of certain mixes away from those in tribes, like forced them to live in different neighborhoods and. And then pitted them against each other, giving some neighborhoods resources and others not right, and so colored. And which were. These were people who were of. Of mixed heritages, of, of. Of Dutch and Indian and. And black and other things, right, were seen as different than These other groups.
Laura Rosenberg
So if you were to live in South Africa, would you be considered colored?
Ebro Darden
No.
Laura Rosenberg
Because you're mixed.
Ebro Darden
Because that's not my culture. Okay, right. Like, I know.
Laura Rosenberg
No, but I'm saying if you were
Ebro Darden
born and raised there, it would depend on my mix.
Laura Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro Darden
Like, I know. Like, for instance, Trevor Noah is mixed. He's not colored. Okay, Right. There's a kid I know down there. His name is. He's a rapper. He's dope. Shout out to Shane Eagle. He took me to. He grew up in a neighborhood that is known. It's called Robbie Ridge. I did an interview with him on Apple Music. You could go. I went down to South Africa years ago just to support hip hop and learn about this stuff. Took me to his neighborhood. He's a mixed kid. He has a black, I believe, a black mom, white dad, and grew up in a colored neighborhood, but is not colored.
Guest or Contributor
Okay.
Ebro Darden
Like, it's a very specific cultural thing. They have. I forget what the. They have their own language. They have their own. A lot of things. And so Tyler comes to America, she's colored. They start asking her about her blackness. You know, that was on the Breakfast Club or whatever.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
She hadn't been. She hadn't learned. No one taught her about that.
Laura Rosenberg
I just feel like her team failed. It failed her.
Guest or Contributor
No, no, no.
Ebro Darden
They did. And at the time, I remember I was upset on her behalf. I called people who worked at the label, like, why would y' all allow her to walk into that scenario and even come to a marketplace like America, Right. And not understand the racialized Dynamics of America vs South Africa? By the way, these are probably two of the most racialized kind of, you know, main. What's the word? Way I want to articulate this, like, the most well known racialized kind of dynamics on planet Earth, Right. Like South Africa, apartheid was very recent. Race in America is still a very, very, very hot topic. Like, you could probably say that is, you know, as far as on planet Earth, the two you hear about most when dealing with, you know, xenophobia and immigration and race and all these things. Why would you guys let this girl? She was like, 21.
Laura Rosenberg
She was so.
Ebro Darden
She was like 20. She didn't know, like. And so she's being asked about things. She's just not well versed. And then there was blowback. So anyway, I had a conversation with her, shout out to her and her team for allowing me to have that sit down. And I just asked her what she learned. What did you learn about racial dynamics and about the World, you know what I mean? And she was just basically talking about how in the world she's seen as black. Her culture is colored. Like, that's. You know. Cause by the way, happens to kids here in New York all the time, right? Black kids who are like, nah, I'm Dominican. And I'm like, until you get outside of New York, yeah, these crackers don't care what type of Spanish you speak in my G. You just a nigga that speaks Spanish. You like the rest of us. You know what I'm saying? You can hold on all that if you want to. They don't care. Because once again, those racial dynamics weren't set up by us.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I also think it's a. It's. It's learning, right? Because one of my, you know, one of my best friends, Irene, she's a black woman. She's Dominican.
Ebro Darden
That's right.
Laura Rosenberg
But she said growing up, you know, all she knew, she was, I'm Dominican. And when she thought of, oh, you're black. She's thinking black American.
Ebro Darden
That's right.
Laura Rosenberg
She's like, it's not that I was denying my blackness. It's that I automatically go to black American. I was like, no, I'm Dominican, right? She's like, now I'm a proud black woman who is Dominican.
Ebro Darden
Right?
Laura Rosenberg
So she was.
Ebro Darden
But once again, that's not taught.
Laura Rosenberg
Yes.
Ebro Darden
Matter of fact, what is taught when you immigrate to the United States is don't be like the black people. That's commonly taught and celebrated.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah, yeah, right.
Ebro Darden
Don't be like them. Don't associate with them. Don't say you are them.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Especially because all they all, like, feed off of the craziest stereotypes.
Ebro Darden
Well, not only that, but you're coming from nations that have covert racism. It wasn't over. Like, it was here in the United States, Right. South America didn't have Jim Crow. Right. And even now, as we learn about, like, blanquiamento and the whitening of societies and all these things, right? Like, you didn't have, you know, the. Or you didn't have certain levels of activism and a government that was, like, actively working against and for, like, this. You know what I mean? Like, a lot of it was more subversive and so.
Laura Rosenberg
And also just normalized and normalized them. It was like, that's just what it is.
Ebro Darden
Yes. You know, so it all of that to say, yeah, we had a good conversation with Tyler, and she's a cool young girl. She got dope album who else is dope album. I hear that I'm with. Let me think. Since we doing the music thing, we got some more emails while I look for music. Laura, you got some emails?
Laura Rosenberg
Let's see. We got a few. Okay, let's go. A couple of quick things. I really appreciate Ebro's breakdown of his dad's health battle as my dad had a bad heart and diabetes and on dialysis before dying of multi heart failure during COVID as he can. I'm sorry, this is. There's no punctuation. I'm trying to.
Ebro Darden
Laura, hate your guts.
Laura Rosenberg
Try to understand this. He's as I continue to be on dialysis for the last three years. Okay, so this person is on dialysis because currently you guys, every day during my sessions, you're with me. Oh, we appreciate that and we are happy that we can keep you company during those tough sessions, man. Quick thought about you guys over the weekend. How about you guys put some Hova concert coverage, your personal videos on Patreon? We would love to see some of that, man.
Ebro Darden
Jazz has hours. She took more video than me. I've been. Didn't you ask me to send those? Somebody over here asked me to send those over and we've been. I up and didn't send them.
Laura Rosenberg
All right, so maybe we should. I mean, if you guys still care. The Patreons, like maybe we just do a video with some behind the scenes videos of the concerts.
Ebro Darden
Absolutely.
Laura Rosenberg
I do love Fot Friday. Moving to Patreon exclusive feels more intimate. Speaking of the fam, where did King Louie get to get his Jay Z shirts? And what's his Twitter? King Louie? I do not know what T shirt he's talking about. Did you get some fire bootlegs though?
Patreon Team Member or Producer
No, I guess whatever I got is from the Pop up shop.
Laura Rosenberg
Okay, okay, okay.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
So I had the, like the. The Jay Z31 and it might have been. I got the Can I Live one, which I wore to the concert.

Patreon Team Member or Producer

Guest or Contributor
All right.
Laura Rosenberg
And it says, finally, thoughts on Jadakiss versus 38 splash and any. What's the news on signed shirts or signed mugs? All right, we'll get to that.
Ebro Darden
Talk to him about the merch. This is our merch manager.
Laura Rosenberg
Yes, but certain people want signed mugs and signed shirts. So it's. It's a little bit more difficult than. All right, we'll work on it. I have. I have A marker in there, and I have a shirt. So you know what? After the show, I'll have you sign it, and then we just got to get Roseberg sign it.
Ebro Darden
So why don't. What do we set. Why don't we set it up this way? Why don't. Hmm. Is there a way for us to. Let's say we sign 10.
Laura Rosenberg
10 things and then we give them away.
Ebro Darden
We either give them away or I was gonna say, like, when we don't have to charge more, but maybe there's like a different link where people could order. They could still pay for them or something.
Laura Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro Darden
Or we could get do giveaways. I don't know.
Laura Rosenberg
I say we do giveaways. Let's do some giveaways. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I know I've gotten some. Some people reaching out asking for that, so. All right, so we'll talk about it. Maybe we'll do some giveaways. All right, cool.
Ebro Darden
Yo, shout to. Damn, I lost it. What happened? Oh, oh, here it goes. This is what Laura. This is what Laura's listening to right now. And I used to go fishing when

Y' all love it.

I don't understand people being mad at young Miami for being young Miami.
Ebro Darden
I don't understand people being mad at hip hop for hip hop being in the street and. And dysfunctional and toxic. Like it's always had that element. Yes. King Louis.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
What I'm most impressed off with this song, cuz it's primarily supposed to be a song for women, but I'd be seeing both men and women just.
Ebro Darden
Well, the beats fire. The beats fire. Also, men is out here boosting and stealing and scamming. And so let's just not act like everybody can't relate.
Guest or Contributor

Laura Rosenberg
Dudes have goyard bags.
Ebro Darden
What kind of bags is this?
Laura Rosenberg
Goyard.
Ebro Darden
No, I mean, I know I see the girls with like the big goyard toy. Oh, the backpacks. Right, right, right. Do we got more emails?
Laura Rosenberg
Good morning, ELR fam. By now I feel like I don't need an introduction because I've been a f for so long. All right, this is Jhud718, aka DJ John's number one fan from back in the plantation days. Speaking of Juanito, you need to bring him over eventually, Laura. Make it happen. But another reason I'm writing is because I'm always hearing y' all telling stories of people telling y' all that they didn't know you guys were back or where to listen. So here's an idea. Get a big ass billboard in the middle of Times Square or the subways or somewhere so people can see this. Whatever is cheaper. But I think people should know where you guys are at. I love that you guys have the Friday Patreon shows. Soon I'll be able to afford it. And then, you know, he just says, peace to all of you guys. You guys have been living in New York for 10 plus years, and your spouses are New Yorkers. You guys are New Yorkers. Peace, love and blessings.
Ebro Darden
All right, whatever you say, bro. Somebody else gonna say we not New Yorkers.
Guest or Contributor
Yeah.
Laura Rosenberg
I always say, listen, New York is my home and I love it. That's all I can say. My husband's a New Yorker, My daughter's a New Yorker.
Right.
So what do you think? I. I think that we're gonna do I think digital marketing. We're gonna go. We're gonna lean on.
Guest or Contributor
Hang on.
Ebro Darden

Ebro Darden
why you getting that kiss? So wait rah why you getting that kiss?
Guest or Contributor
So this this actually started from a a feature that they did on Benny Butcher's track Kiss and Special. Yeah and Special was going around saying he got the best verse of it. I think Benny and also agree that like Special had the best verse on that track since then he was kind of trying to get another verse from Jada on one of his songs.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. Oh, right. I did hear this. Okay.
Guest or Contributor
Jada wouldn't do it. He kept talking smack. And I think Jim Jones on his show was trying to. Trying to, like, defend Jada, kind of like, where's this guy coming from? Like, everybody loves kids, Jada. So that's how.
Ebro Darden
That's how old guy is.
Guest or Contributor
Yeah.
So that's where we're at now.
Ebro Darden
I. I' ma say. I'm gonna say this, though. They working the promo.
Guest or Contributor
Yeah, he's doing a good job.
Ebro Darden
Nah, listen, Special working the promo. You know, Fat Joe and Jada, they out. They got that aroma record with Stove Got cooks. That is fire.
Guest or Contributor
Yeah, well, in that record, I think Jada shot back.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, that's the one where he shot back. Yeah. So. But, you know, so that's where it's at. Laura, do you care?
Laura Rosenberg
I don't. I don't.
Ebro Darden
Were you entertained?
Laura Rosenberg
I. I don't. I just felt. When I said I was like, why is this necessary? Like, why?
Ebro Darden
Because cats like talking, and they gonna take it to records. I don't. You know, this is just. This is just talking. Same way we talk about people, you know what I'm saying? That we either have an issue with, or they say something slick. Hell, Rosenberg was arguing with Kyle Kuzma the other day.
Laura Rosenberg
I mean, facts.
Ebro Darden
You know what I mean? So it happens sometimes. Let's not act holier than thou. Like, it don't go down. You know what I mean?
Laura Rosenberg
All right, well, let's. We haven't hit any family Friday stuff.
Ebro Darden
Oh, I got some. You got some photos?
Laura Rosenberg
I do, because, you know, I was in Japan for a little family vacation, so I have a couple photos.
It's a rare condition this day and
Ebro Darden
age to read any good news on the newspaper page. Loving tradition of the grand design. Some people say it's even harder to find.
Guest or Contributor
Well, then there must be some magic clue inside these gentle walls.
Laura Rosenberg
Cause all I see is a tower full of dreams.
Guest or Contributor
Real love bursting out of every scene.
Laura Rosenberg
It's the bigger love of the family.
Ebro Darden
All right, what you got Laura from. Oh, there they are.
Laura Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro Darden
Japan. So where is this?
Laura Rosenberg
Okay, so these pictures are from Okinawa, which is the islands right outside of the part of Japan. They're like.
Ebro Darden
People call it where Mr. Miyagi's from.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, the Hawaii of Japan.
Ebro Darden
Now, is it on the west side of Japan or the east side of Japan?
Guest or Contributor
Is it.
Ebro Darden
Isn't it in between China and Japan, like, in that.
Laura Rosenberg
I don't Remember Ebro, look it up.
Guest or Contributor
Look it up.
Laura Rosenberg
But what I think is funny is that, you know, in true Kenza fashion, she found the scary shark and she insisted on posing with the scary shark. I, I, and I believe the, the other photo is that was actually in Tokyo, I think. But yeah, no, Okinawa was fire guys. So me and Ricardo, when we started dating, we would travel a lot and one of the things that we discussed as a family, I was like, yo, when I have a baby, we're gonna continue doing the things that we love to do.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. Okinawa is south. It's south of Japan.
Laura Rosenberg
Okay, okay, okay.
Ebro Darden
Like, yeah, no, it's, it's, it's south.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, it's about a two hour China Sea, two hour flight from Tokyo.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, it's south. So it's, it's definitely, I mean, yeah, technically between China and It's like here. So Japan's here and China's there. So it's outside, right there.
Laura Rosenberg
Yes. It's absolutely beautiful. It is very, very colorful. I mean, I did see a lot of American folks there because of the, the base there. They have their own, like, cuisine, like Okinawa noodles and soft serve. It was super dope. The people were amazing.
Ebro Darden
Would you go back?
Laura Rosenberg
Absolutely, I would absolutely go back.
Ebro Darden
And it's more, this is more of a vacation vibe than like a Tokyo or something.
Laura Rosenberg
Yes, yes, yes. It's like, it's. You're by the beach and the beach is absolutely gorgeous. We hit a couple restaurants. Do you have the video of Kenza getting busy at the restaurant? You know, Kenza had to join a little dance party. You see your girl right there?
Guest or Contributor
Ebro.
Ebro Darden
Hey.
Laura Rosenberg
They have a guest party in the restaurant.
Guest or Contributor
Yes.
Laura Rosenberg
Look at her joining in. Me too.
Guest or Contributor
Me too.
I don't know what they're saying, but
Laura Rosenberg
I mean,
Ebro Darden
what song is that? Is that like a, is that a popular song?
Guest or Contributor
I don't know.
Ebro Darden
It's a local Latino, like song, kids song or like a. Yeah. You didn't ask no questions.
Guest or Contributor
If you're happy or you know it clap your hands.
Ebro Darden
It sounded like it.
Guest or Contributor
I saw it in a 40 year old virgin. They were in the.
Ebro Darden
Look at this guy. Rahsa, the factoids, the Snapple fact.
Guest or Contributor
I love it.
Ebro Darden
No, I love that.
Laura Rosenberg
No. And it was a lot of funny, bro. So we had a really good time and Okinawa is a place that we always wanted to go. So we put it on our, you know, our little bucket list and we plan it and we head out. And then we spent a couple days in Tokyo too, which were absolutely fantastic. You know, Tokyo is a special place.
Ebro Darden
Love Tokyo. Laura. Laura. Laura could do all of that. All the time travel, the. No. The sights of, like, Tokyo and Asia. I. After a little while, I'm like, all right, y', all, I'm cool. I'm cool. Y' all love a ramen noodle oil order out of a vending machine. Oh, man, I did it a couple times. It was cool. But they.
Guest or Contributor
Yo, they.
Ebro Darden
I would.
Laura Rosenberg
They love doing it because there's different ones. You know what I mean?
I'm not.
Ebro Darden
But I'm also not a big, soupy noodle guy.
Laura Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro Darden
Full stop.
Guest or Contributor
So then, you know, you could give
Ebro Darden
me 9,000 different versions of ramen. I'll be like, it's cool, bro.
Laura Rosenberg
Now, the one that you saw, it's like you put your order in the vending machine, but then you give the ticket to the man, and he makes it, like. You make it seem like it's just water. Like it's a cup of water comes in.
Ebro Darden
No, man.
Laura Rosenberg
It's like, all handmade and delicious and nutritious. Yeah. No, but Japan is fire, so we had a great time.
Ebro Darden
I love Japan, man.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Guest or Contributor
I really do.
Laura Rosenberg
And people tell me all the time, like, yo, I don't know how you guys do it with the family. You. You just plan it. It's not. You don't. It's not as expensive as you think. And all you got to do is plan it. You guys spend a lot of money going to, like, Orlando for Disneyland. And I bet you my trip to Japan was cheaper than what you spent.
Ebro Darden
The toughest thing about getting to Asia is the flight.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah. Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Getting over there, like, that's probably the most expensive piece.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Tokyo is definitely expensive.
Guest or Contributor
It is.
Laura Rosenberg
But you can find hotels that are affordable. You can find places to eat that are affordable, so.
Ebro Darden
And once you get there, everything is
Laura Rosenberg
mad convenient, and it's super safe.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Guest or Contributor
So.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah. I don't. You know, so next time, my bucket list. Ebro. I've been thinking about this a lot. I haven't been to Guatemala since I was a teenager.
Ebro Darden
So go.
Laura Rosenberg
And now I'm like. I feel like you can get there.
Ebro Darden
Mad cheek.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah. I'm gonna take Kenza to reconnect with the family. I think that's gonna be my next trip.
Ebro Darden
So one of the crazy things. I don't know if I sent you this, but, you know the. The Garifuna.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Down in Honduras in Guatemala are dealing with, like, I guess they have a new president in Honduras. That's super trumpy. And you know, they got a new Trumpy president elect in Colombia now, too. Y' all know that, right?
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
So they're. They're making sure that they get their. Their fangs into South America nice and deep. But anyway, they're taking the land from the Garifuna and to the point where there's news stories coming out of Central America that are basically like, white people showing up with guns.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And pulling them on the indigenous people down there. And basically like, yo, if you don't get off this land, we're gonna kill you. And they're like, no, this is like our government protected land.
Laura Rosenberg
No, there's a lot of craziness that's going on in Central and South America. I think even a couple years ago, I told you guys that there was this documentary, I think it's on Vice, about the Church of Latter Day Saints in Utah. All of a sudden, they claim that whatever their calling is, is in Tikal, Guatemala. Tikal is where all the ancient ruins are. If you look it up, the ancient ruins are. Tikal are one of the most beautiful places, like, I've been with. When my dad was alive, it was very important. We took a really beautiful trip up there because he's like, you need to know where you come from. So they're now just going up there and literally just taking land. And some of these greedy government officials are letting them.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. Because they're getting paid on the other side. And then they're. And then they want to protect. They want to protect the image of their church and their whole faith by claiming this is some sort of spiritual calling, when really it's just a land grab and you're paying the government on the inside.
Laura Rosenberg
And the government, as usual, they don't care about indigenous people. You know, Guatemala has it's. I remember going to the supermarkets. I've mentioned that before with my mom. And I was like, mom, what other language is this? You know, she's like, oh, it's Kiche, which is a Mayan language. But there's over 30 languages spoken and subcultures. You know what I mean? But ever since I can remember, it has been a horrible treatment of them. So it's easy for them to just, oh, we don't care about them. Go ahead. I'll take the money and you take the land.
Ebro Darden
Well, yeah, because everybody's going. Well, not everybody, but many people in power are in power because they care about money. Yeah, right. And people who care about money empower other people who care about money. You'll see that all the time. So if that's not your motivating factor and you're wondering how things get done, it's because people who only care about money put other people in power who also only care about money. That's how they continue to do what they do.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah. And then when it comes to the Garifuna community, I don't know about the politics of what's happening in Honduras, even though I believe you. The same in Guatemala, of course. You think they're going to be protected? No, absolutely not. So.
Guest or Contributor
No.
Ebro Darden
Especially if there ain't no money in it.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
What's the upside?
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah. But anyway, the trip was fantastic. So highly recommend to anyone.
Ebro Darden
Japan. Japan.
Laura Rosenberg
And.
Ebro Darden
Okay. Shout out to Okinawa also.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
I'm saying I hear great things about it. So our young. Our young Selassie knows how to work the phone and knows how to work the camera. Let's look at some pictures from Selassie through her eyes.
Laura Rosenberg
Does she. Does she say, cheese, Daddy?
Ebro Darden
Yeah. She's like, daddy, take picture. She took that one to me and Issa.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
Okay.
Ebro Darden
Took that one of Issa.
Laura Rosenberg
That's pretty good.
Ebro Darden
See what else we got. Oh, there you go.
Laura Rosenberg
I love these.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Rosenberg
Oh, salazi.
Ebro Darden
Now she. I don't have them. I think her mom has them in her phone. Because she grabs her mom's phone. Her mom. But she does grab some good pictures, too. Like, she's got a dope one I saw of that I don't have in my phone, of a bee on a flower.
Laura Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro Darden
She was like. You know what I mean? Like, real. You know who else gets great pictures? Issa's picture game. I don't have, like, it wouldn't even. If I showed you Issa's pictures, you'd be. You guys would be like, so what? She took off. But she's 11. Of course. But no, she's really captured some great scenic, like, sunsets and stuff like this that she's into. That's, like, her thing. So.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, now you got to get her one of those little cameras. Ebro. I had one for Kenza. It's so celestial. Walk around taking pictures and the prints on receipt paper. It's black and white, but it's cool.
Ebro Darden
Well, so she's already beyond that. That was back in the day. Laura. That Laura. That's already back in the day. Now they have phones, bro. They have kid phones that are like. They look like phones.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
Okay.
Ebro Darden
And they touch screen, swipe.
Laura Rosenberg
Okay.
And.
Ebro Darden
And has a camera. Can take a photo in it. Delete the photo. All of this. So someone bought it for her for. Because we didn't buy it for her. And then her mom opened it up and gave it to her. Like, six months ago. I went and hid that joint. I'm about to. I already know where. I gotta. I just reminded myself I gotta throw it away.
Laura Rosenberg
See? But no, this is an actual little, like a. Kind of like a Polaroid.
Ebro Darden
Well, I guess what I'm saying is just give her a real camera that takes, like, real digital photos. So it has the screen on the back, but it's the camera.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
The pr. The black and white printout. She ain't. I had one of those for Easter.
Laura Rosenberg
It's cute. It's cute, but. Yeah, I. I feel you on the phone. Let's focus on the actual camera.
Ebro Darden
Let's just focus on a camera that's an actual camera and let her have a field day with it. Do you have Salasi on the carousel?
Guest or Contributor
For the.
Ebro Darden
For the. This a girl carousel before. But I let her sit by myself. Ch. She chose the beaver.
Guest or Contributor
A beaver.
Which.
Ebro Darden
I think they're related.
Guest or Contributor
Look at her.
Laura Rosenberg
She's all proud. Like, you have to buy styles.
Ebro Darden
Listen to the music. Steve Wood jamming on the character. What you doing? You're on a carousel. Such a sweetheart. She chose a wolf that time. We stayed on it. She went around. I think twice. All her mom could say when I showed her these videos was, she's touching that dirty pole with her hands. I'm like, she's gotta. We gotta do stuff, Mom. Come on, son.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah. Like, I wiped her hands afterwards. She's fine.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Guest or Contributor
So cute.
Ebro Darden
Kids get dirty.
Guest or Contributor
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
That's probably Mom. Her mom's gonna watch this and be like, that's why she got rsv. Now you out on that dirty ass carousel now. They were sick this week, Mom. And mom and Selassie both got sick. Mom had strep and rsv. There's been strep in the house. And I've been dodging it. I don't know how I've been dodging it. Three months on and off.
Laura Rosenberg
You're still looking. Because I know Selassie kisses you, hugs you.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Guest or Contributor
But all that.
Ebro Darden
It hasn't. I haven't got sick. Maybe. I don't know. Maybe. I got it right now. Y' all getting it right now.
King Louie
Thanks.
Ebro Darden
No problem. Go get checked out. Go take a test. Anyway. Family Friday was a gym, man. Appreciate y', all, man.
Laura Rosenberg
Thank y'.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
All.
Ebro Darden
See y' all next week on some housekeeping. Ish. So we're gonna get to the.
Laura Rosenberg
We're gonna figure out the signed memorabilia.
Ebro Darden
We're gonna figure out how to talk about music some more. There was something else we trying to figure out for Patreon. Oh, well, the Patreon earlier this week was live. What'd you say there is it the
Guest or Contributor
emails you wanted to figure out?
Ebro Darden
Oh, yeah, yeah. We talked about that earlier. Making sure y' all email in. If you want to be a part of. Of Family Friday, we need emails and voice notes, but it feels like the people who mostly just do the YouTube, not the Patreon or more into the email.
Laura Rosenberg
Right.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
So maybe we read a couple before.
Ebro Darden
Before the Patreon, and we're going to be doing to the guy that emailed about some marketing. We've been thinking about billboards and all this sort of thing, but we also probably are going to do digital marketing first.
Laura Rosenberg
Yeah, I think so.
Ebro Darden
I think that's the wave and measure that and see what kind of impact that has on subscribers as we continue to grow this thing. Because I don't see us. I don't see us being in a hurry, per se. You know what I mean? Like, we're doing good. Bills are getting paid. You know, advertisers are coming in. Y' all doing the Patreon thing. We sell. Y' all buying the merch, which we appreciate. You know what I'm saying? Y' all support. And so we chilling. You know what I mean? I don't think we. I don't think we thought we was going to do, like, you know, a gazillion million. Lou thought we was going to do 100,000 by July. I told him, you know, I should have. I should have really stuck them to the bet.
Laura Rosenberg
What was the bet?
Guest or Contributor
I don't know.
Ebro Darden
They wanted to bet me for a second.
Patreon Team Member or Producer
We're pacing that way, but I, you know, slow down.
Laura Rosenberg
Oh, and then next week, I'm gonna announce a merch drop, which will drop first for Patreon. Just letting y' all know. And this is. Let's just say it's not a shirt. Oh, I'm excited about it.
Ebro Darden
Not a shirt.
Laura Rosenberg
Not a shirt. Okay, so we'll drop it on Patreon first, and then we'll let everybody else have a little something something.
Ebro Darden
All right, well, we'll see y' all next week, man. Peace. Just don't call it a podcast.
Date: July 31, 2026
Hosts: Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez, Peter Rosenberg
Theme: Candid conversation around music industry shifts, cultural commentary, controversial hip-hop moments, and community connections — with a signature blend of humor, honesty, and advocacy for nuance.
This Friday’s episode delivers on the show’s promise to blend music-centric dialogue and cultural debate, touching on everything from exclusive content on Patreon, to the complexities of racial identity in music, to “problematic” music videos, to the evolution of album promotion. The conversation jumps fluidly between current hip-hop culture, the deeper social issues it reflects, listener/community engagement, and the show’s own evolving digital format. Hosts blend tough, honest conversations with inside jokes, nostalgia, and commitment to audience involvement ("send us your emails, voice notes, videos!").
There's an emphasis on:
Friday’s episode is a microcosm of The Ebro, Laura & Rosenberg Show’s mission: keeping it real about hip-hop and community, while also taking time for humor, family, and the latest viral music — all in a tone that’s informed, witty, and unafraid to dig into complexity.
