Ebro Darden
Just don't call it a podcast. The ebro laura rosenberg show. Monday, August 3rd yeah, man. Busy weekend. Weather was pretty decent around the way, but now you might be waking up in the Tri State area to mass amounts of rain at least for the next hour. And then supposed sun's supposed to come out later, but the amount of water that was coming out the sky right now was like. It was like car wash levels. Yes, it was car wash.
Laura Stiles
Yes.
Ebro Darden
You know what I mean? So it was. It was an interesting night and morning. Because it was doing this all night, right?
Rahsaan
I think so, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Or at least this early, early part of the day from like 3am Because I woke up and heard the. The rain hitting against the window and I remembered that Jazz had put Selassie's shoes outside to dry.
Laura Stiles
Oh, no.
Ebro Darden
You played yourself. Congratulations.
Griff
You played yourself.
Ebro Darden
Those shoes are soaking wet again.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, yeah, been there, been there.
Ebro Darden
So I had to go get those. That was early this morning. But anyway, let's get into the week or the weekend that was. I had a good weekend this morning. Laura, how was your weekend?
Laura Stiles
It was good. Hung out with the fam. Hit a pool. That's it. Just kind of random out.
Ebro Darden
Chill out.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hit a park, too. Had a little gathering with friends at. At Fort Green Park. It was. It was light but nice.
Ebro Darden
It was. It was nice on Saturday. Saturday was really nice. Little bit of humidity on Saturday. Yesterday was nice, but once again, humid. Put up some miles on the bike with the squad over the weekend, though. Let's see the big headlines. Were everybody talking about this FIFA thing with the Trump family and, you know, different soccer organizations saying they're not going to support FIFA on this endeavor, which is great to see. Lots on Trump doodling himself at Lindsey Graham's funeral. I don't know if you guys saw those videos.
Laura Stiles
I did, but I don't. Sometimes I don't know if they're. You know what I mean?
Ebro Darden
What it actually is the one where it's like the.
Laura Stiles
I guess the CIA agent that's next to him and his face just like.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, there was one that looked kind of stunned and normal. And then people took it. Then people took the original video and went far with the AI Right. That. That was. That was a thing. Also, speaking of Trump, the people who allegedly vandalized the. The. What is it called? The reflecting pool in D.C. have been exonerated. Charges dropped, I think is a term I saw.
Rahsaan
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Thanks, Lou. And Trump's pissed, which points to the fact of his. His ineptitude with regard to getting the pool done in the first place. And don't we. Isn't it common knowledge that Trump paid one of his buddies, who had no ref, who had no expertise in this area, and basically gave him 15 million to do some hodgepodge? Yes, I thought this was common knowledge.
Laura Stiles
That's what I thought. So how did they blame somebody for vandalizing? That's what I don't understand.
Rahsaan
Someone had to get blamed.
Laura Stiles
So I'm gonna be Trump Arando got blamed for it.
Rahsaan
Yeah.
Laura Stiles
And then they got cleared because obviously they didn't do it.
Ebro Darden
Well.
Rahsaan
Yeah.
Laura Stiles
And now he's mad. Oh, my God. We're such an embarrassment.
Ebro Darden
Well, look, guys, I'll be honest. After I woke up, it kind of started hitting me yesterday. I'm over all of it, man. It's all a clown show, man. Like, it's all stupid. It's all just dumb.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, but we still don't.
Ebro Darden
No, I know we're living in it, but it's like, I can't get up here, you know, you guys know I go through periods of this. If you've been paying attention to it, acting like I give a shit is, like, really, really, really hard. Like, it's like, you know, I turn on the news this morning, Trump was gonna bomb Iran more, but nope, they're having a meeting at noon. What?
Rahsaan
The reporting on this. They do this every time. It's like, I can't understand how they keep falling into this clown show. Every time, it's the same report. He does this every two weeks.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Rahsaan
Why not just report he's lying to you again?
Ebro Darden
Because they're not gonna. And that's. And that's why, like, because they can't do that.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Though get sued or, you know, people say you're disrespecting the office of the police president. Or like, it's dumb.
Rahsaan
Stupid.
Ebro Darden
It's dumb. You know, I mean, like, even this right here, I. I like this kid right here. I threw this video in here. There was a video circulating of Marco Rubio basically saying that you can't come to the United States if you got anything bad to say about Israel. Did you guys see this video circulating?
Griff
Marco never ceases to amaze me. This may have been his most iniquitous statement yet.
Alan Dershowitz
President Trump, the United States will stand with the Jewish people.
Laura Stiles
Hello.
Griff
What? We wasn't standing with them before. And when you say Jewish, I know you mean Israel.
Alan Dershowitz
We have implemented a vigorous new visa policy that will prevent foreign nationals from coming to the United States to foment. Hatred against our Jewish community. We are holding international organizations and nations accountable for rhetoric against Israel.
Griff
So we now banning people from traveling to America if they talk shit about our greatest liability so people can move goo vibe slide if they talking mad about us mashing about the President. But as soon as they talk about the blue and white ban can't come through, can't pull up out the color peroxide. That sounds insane. It also sounds like America really is not the main priority in this country
Alan Dershowitz
that resurfaces in the manifesto of monsters like Iran and Sarah's killer. But we do see an eventual light at the end of this long tunnel of suffering.
Griff
Who the fuck is suffering exactly? I mean I know the Palestinian people are suffering. I know the people of west bank who are also Palestinian are suffering. I know people in Lebanon are suffering.
Ebro Darden
Who who suffered?
Griff
I know nobody in Israel suffering because people are traveling right now to this
Alan Dershowitz
day can imagine a Middle east in which the Abraham Accords eventually reign. So thank you for the opportunity to address you.
Griff
Abraham Accords ain't going to do. They have nukes now and still won't let anybody in the world know they've had them for 50 plus years and somehow that country is the only one that doesn't have to let anybody know.
Ebro Darden
Have to tell you that the real problem is are Jews. Jews at the in the Upper west side, Jews in the Upper east side, Jews in Park Slope? The Jews who voted for mom? Danny, remember 7,000 Jews voted for Adolf Hitler in 1932. Most of them ended up in the gas chambers.
Griff
You just casually compared Mamdani to Adolf. But I can't compare BB the bomber to Adolf is insane. And if I were to say those same things immediately labeled anti Semite, I would have been banned cooked. But when they're not aligned with what you want to push narratively, all of a sudden they're the problem.
Ebro Darden
Well, and that last person talking there was Alan Dershowitz, who is a Jewish guy. Big, big Epstein guy too, by the way, all over the files. And he goes on to call Jews who supported Mom Donnie stupid and Jews in Park Slope and these other areas around New York City dumb idiots.
Laura Stiles
Interesting.
Ebro Darden
Like this is what, that's what I mean. Like I'm, I, I'm over it. Like people are. And I guess the reason I say that is because I'm not sure who actually believes this stuff.
Laura Stiles
No, but people do.
Rahsaan
People do.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And I can't, I don't know what to do with that anymore. I, I, like there's no I'm exhausted, guy. I'm tired.
Laura Stiles
Your. Your. Your sentiments are how I feel about the whole, like, Fouchy situation, the whole RFK and Fauci situation. It is exhausting having to have people like, send me and people that I know. Look, the vaccines were killing people. You guys were in denial and pushing the vax, and it's your, you know, your fault. You're part of the problem. What, what, what am I saying? And I just had this conversation like earlier, cuz people were just like, yo, hey, you know, it came out that the vax has killed some people. News flash. Nothing is one size fits all.
Ebro Darden
We talked about it at the time.
Laura Stiles
Peanuts can kill people. Tylenol and, you know, penicillin. But then there's the number of people who have lived because of it. So. But it's like people cannot think in a broader term.
Ebro Darden
Well, and they also just aren't smart
Laura Stiles
or they don't want to.
Ebro Darden
Or they don't want to, which is, you know, good luck. Good luck to you. Which is also back to why I'm over. I, you know, like, who. Who are we talking to? Who are we dealing with? I'm not debating you losers anymore. Like, you can't even. And this is where I start to, like, sound super elitist and like, super like, bro, sometimes you're talking to people who can't do the basics in life. Like, you don't have the basics together. Like home ownership, paying taxes, taking care of your children, having health care. Like, these are basic things. Why am I talking to you?
Rahsaan
I.
Ebro Darden
You feel me? Like, I can't take. I can't take you serious. I. If you can't. At my old age, at 51, I can't take you serious. When you can't take care of yourself and you can't even take care of your fan, I can't take you serious. Sorry. Yeah, so sometimes it's like, bro, you're arguing with people, they're sending you things. I'm looking at your life and I'm like, you have no credibility with me because your life's not in order, bro. Like, it's just not in order. You're not prepared. You're not prepared. You are talking to me about something that's clearly just. You just can't grasp. And I get it. Vaccines are scary and vaccines have killed people. You know what I'm saying? But when you have a global pandemic taking place, right? And you have mismanagement going on at the federal government level and you have something so mismanagement already took place at the government level.
Laura Stiles
That's right.
Ebro Darden
And so people were playing catch up, trying to figure out a solution. For most people, it wasn't going to work for all people.
Alan Dershowitz
Right.
Ebro Darden
Some people were going to die. And then there's people who just once again, weren't taking care of themselves and already were sick, unbeknownst to them, and they took something that made them worse.
Laura Stiles
Yeah. And scientists are not magicians. They lead with hypothesis. They lead with the data that they have at that moment, specifically where you're dealing with a pandemic that's changing every minute.
Ebro Darden
But even when I hear the conviction in your voice, Laura, of you trying to explain it, you're wasting your breath, you're wasting your energy.
Laura Stiles
It's just.
Ebro Darden
It's a waste.
Laura Stiles
Oh, my head hurts.
Ebro Darden
It's a complete waste. And people are going to make decisions that are best for them and their family. You know, I mean, my encouragement at the time was mostly based on people who needed to keep employment. Now there were people who decided to sue and say, hey, I'm not taking the vax. And they sued, and some of them were able to get their jobs back. A lot of them got nothing. A lot of them got nothing. Some state employees and union workers did, but there was other people who didn't have that. So if you wanted to keep making money and you wanted to stay in the game, you had decisions you had to make.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
You had to do it. And I wasn't gonna. I'm not gonna get up here and tell you to not do something like that. Could potentially keep food on the table and the roof over your head.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
I'm not gonna be the one to do it. And so you got to be able to make those decisions for yourself. And so hopefully you did make the best decision for yourself. I had, you know, look, my brother almost died. You know what I'm saying?
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And I was a. I was angry, too. My brother has Ms. And he takes drugs that suppress his immune system, which means he does not have an immune system, basically. And the doctors at the time were like, oh, well, we don't know what's going on. You know me, I'm screaming. What do you mean, you don't know what's going on? He doesn't have an immune system. And so no matter. Even if you give him the vaccine, he's not going to be. His body's not going to make antibodies. It's not going to happen.
Griff
Yeah.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And so they gave him the vaccine. He started getting Better. Then he got worse again, then he got better and now he's all good.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And he continues to have to get the vaccine and he has to get flu shots and these other things because he doesn't have an immune system.
Laura Stiles
Right, right, right, right.
Ebro Darden
You know what I'm saying? So he's got to protect himself. That's going to be the solution for some people. There's other people who have phenomenal immune systems. They can get Covid bounce back, their body's going to learn the virus, they never got the virus vaccine and they're good to go. Yeah, but that's not going to work for everybody.
Laura Stiles
Well, yeah, nothing is. One taste fits all, you know, I
Ebro Darden
mean, so you know, and I, and also, look, I'm one of the people who don't trust the government, like, never have. But some of this is just science. Some of this is just understanding what's best for you, what's not best for you. Talking to your daughter and knowing what your body is all, I mean, talk to your doctor and knowing what your body's about. So, you know, like I'm saying, I'm over it. I'm over trying to convince yo. Play clip two for me.
Podcast Narrator/Guest Speaker
See, there's a reason why Marjorie Taylor Greene said that she just suddenly realized that all of MAGA was a lie. Why Nick Fuentes says that the whole thing was a scam. Why Alex Jones of all people on planet earth is now calling for Trump to be impeached and convicted or removed through the 25th Amendment. Why Tucker Carlson left the Republican Party and said that he would be tormented for the rest of his life over the fact that fact that he voted for Trump. Don't twist yourself into a pretzel trying to imagine these people having a sudden change of heart. The reason why these people are fleeing the ship is because they have the most to lose. Unlike elected officials, these people are not collecting a government salary. Their careers survive on parasocial relationships built through the MAGA community. And now, just like the Real Housewives of Igloo, South Dakota, their community is crumbling. Just look at the data. These people I mentioned above, they have the dashboards that show the data that the New York Times just published today. They aggregated the collective views of 12 of the most popular right wing influencers. Influencers. And what they found was that these people have lost in some cases more than half of their audience in just 12 months. This includes people like Benny Johnson, Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson and Charlie Kirk. It's really seen a mysterious drop off some of These individual creators were getting close to 30 million views per week just last spring, but as of right now, some have dropped by up to 86% in weekly views. These people are desperate to stay relevant, but they know that 12 months from now, relevancy will not fly flow through MAGA. They're looking at the views, they're reading the comments, and most importantly, they're looking at all the brand deals they are not signing and all the bank accounts that just aren't replenishing like they used to. If I just attended trending up, the MAGA sphere should be rebranded to trending Down. So when people tell you that MAGA creators are turning on Trump, do not be mistaken. These people are not defectors. No, they're nothing more than canaries in
Ebro Darden
the coal mine Grifters. I saw, and I make a lot of fun of a couple of my friends that are big like Joe Roganites, I call them. Right? Because 10 years ago I was telling y', all, Joe Rogan's a goofy. A goofy. And people are. He has people on. They have good combos. I cool, cool, cool, cool. Fast forward to now. This whole thing. Those a lot of my same friends, jobs drying up. They operate on grants and scholarships and these other programs that work for colleges, different things like that, right? All that's not being funded anymore. You know what I mean?
Laura Stiles
Well, like we always say, people don't care until they start affecting them.
Ebro Darden
Until it's affecting them.
Laura Stiles
That's really what it is.
Ebro Darden
And all of. And you know, all my, all my, you know, friends that I'm speaking on are black men. And you guys know, I've said on, on, on whether it's public airwaves, I may have said it on here, but if I haven't said it on here, hey, black men, you're not white. So what's good for white boys? And they run around think everything is a joke and everything is this. You're not them. The way the economy affects you and your loved ones is not the same as your little white buddies at the job, your little white finance friends. It ain't the same, man. You're not going to be. It's not going to hit the same. It just ain't. And so now you see all these podcasters trying to flip the script because they notice Trump Grift is a rat.
Laura Stiles
85%.
Ebro Darden
Nah, it's crazy. Somebody told me in the comments that Andrew Schultz got it the worst.
Laura Stiles
You know what's funny? I haven't seen him pop up on my feed because he used to just pop up. I don't follow him. I don't subscribe. And he would just be in the algo. Any hot take with Trump in. It was always in my algorithm. I don't see it anymore. I forgot.
Rahsaan
Until you just reminded me, hey, election season is coming. Don't hold your breath too long because
Ebro Darden
they're going to start funding it again. Yep, they start now. Louis Lou does research on like, digital marketing and things like that. How much money a month are these podcasts or, you know, digital creators. Call them whatever content creators likely spending to market their content across plant platforms. A month.
Rahsaan
I mean, it depends, of course, on the platform, but thousands of dollars.
Ebro Darden
Like 10,000.
Rahsaan
I would say over 10,000.
Ebro Darden
$10,000 a month to make sure you're popping up in the algorithm in different ways. In different ways.
Laura Stiles
Because they're making millions a month. So that's not sponsorships.
Ebro Darden
Yes, and all in sponsorships. So if you can get the algorithm really going in your favor is lucrative on the ad, on the advertising side, tremendously.
Laura Stiles
But not to mention who owns these platforms now, because certain things are. You. You can. How can I put this? Certain things are preferred and pushed. You know what I mean? Like, how many creators have you seen that were huge on TikTok that are banned or shadow banned? I just saw a post, you know, Tizzy Ent who always calls out the racist.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, he got banned.
Laura Stiles
He had over 8 million. 8 million followers on TikTok. And his video was like, yo, I posted a video. And nothing that he. He posts is, you know, made up or salacious. It's all facts criticizing ICE and that's the video that got his whole account taken down.
Ebro Darden
Can we get. You think Tizzy can have time for this program? I like, I like his content. I never met him before.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, he'll be super cool.
Ebro Darden
And I. And I saw them promoting. He's got a Discovery TV show about to pop up, so maybe you want to come on, we could promote his Discovery TV show.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, but he is a big example of people getting banned. And then, not to mention all the Palestinian creators that were on there telling their truth, they're all gone.
Ebro Darden
Well, TikTok, remember, is owned by the Ellison family and Paramount and all that. Now that's all in the same umbrella Oracle. So that whole TikTok thing is, you know. Yeah, done. So. And I think I read somewhere that Meta just did a deal with like Newsmax for their news or something.
Rahsaan
Yeah.
Laura Stiles
Oh, why I didn't see that?
Rahsaan
And in YouTube with Peacock, that like
Ebro Darden
everything is just when YouTube is what?
Rahsaan
Well, YouTube has a deal now with NBC.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Stiles
Okay.
Rahsaan
Which I think is now I can't keep track with where everybody's owned, but NBC is not owned by somebody else. But so starting next year, YouTube Premium. If you have YouTube Premium, you also have Peacock.
Laura Stiles
Okay.
Rahsaan
Okay, so that's that. And there was another deal coming.
Ebro Darden
But you. But NBC and ABC. I mean, ABC's Disney.
Rahsaan
Disney, yeah.
Ebro Darden
They seem actually very relatively progressive. And I'm using that word is like not in its truest sense, but like relative to like cbs, Fox, you know, Paramount and these things that are very, very, very unabashedly maga, Trump, conservative.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I say balanced. Sure.
Griff
Right.
Ebro Darden
Like it's relative. Yeah. But they're not progressive like a Ms. Now would be.
Rahsaan
Right.
Ebro Darden
Which is why they spun off MSNBC to something new. Because NBC was getting bought by some.
Rahsaan
Yep.
Laura Stiles
I'm still shocked at the Newsmax situation. Newsmax is definitely right.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. But I think Meta recognizes that their Facebook users, who their Facebook users actually are. I think this is more about Facebook than it is about Instagram.
Rahsaan
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Because Facebook news, and you know what I mean, like, that's your. And that's like you always talk about Laura, where you're always like, there's no even centrist, left leaning Latino news, nothing.
Laura Stiles
And if there's one, please, Chad, let me know. Because that's why people are all gravitating to independent journalists like Kevin. Like, here's why, Kevin. Because there, if you list, if you're in New York City, if you listen to La Mega, it's straight conservative and people don't connect the dots because it's in Spanish. But when you listen and when you truly listen, you're like, oh, wait, this is straight conservative, right wing MAGA talking points.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Stiles
And then when you look at all the other news, right, Louie, for the most part, everything is super conservative. And when. And I peep because I'm like, you know, my mom doesn't live close to me, but when we're together, I was like, I say, let me. You're like a child. Let me see your phone. And I scroll and I try to see the things that she's looking at. And we have discussions because. And I'm like, mom, you know these are opinions, right. This is not real news. And for an older person, you're talking to somebody who's 70, they're like, but it's on the Internet.
Rahsaan
They can't tell.
Laura Stiles
And I'm like, yeah, mom, but it's Somebody's opinion. So a lot of these people are still voting, and that's where everything comes together, because they truly think that these lies on Facebook that are opinions are facts.
Ebro Darden
Well, that's why I brought up the Newsmax deal, because that's conveniently happening on Facebook right before the midterm.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
You know what I mean? So, you know, it's a lot going on out here. Speaking of lot going on, go to number three.
Laura Stiles
Let me see. Let me see.
Ebro Darden
What she's taking.
Laura Stiles
I'm scared where you're gonna take me, man. Oh, God. Okay.
Ebro Darden
Oh, what a picture. There's a bacon recall, guys.
Laura Stiles
A bacon recall.
Rahsaan
Have you guys seen more recalls within the last, like, two months, like, than our last 10 years?
Laura Stiles
Yes. Yes.
Rahsaan
This is scary.
Laura Stiles
Lettuce, strawberries, raspberries. Then we go to eggs. There was a huge egg recall. Bacon. What else?
Ebro Darden
Maple leaf Foods recalled £12,000 of smoked bacon.
Laura Stiles
Every day we see something new.
Ebro Darden
States affected. Idaho, Oregon, Washington. Sold at grocery store outlets. If the dates on your bacon are. Let's see here. Sell by dates of September, 12, 45 and 7, 2026. Highest risk level.
Laura Stiles
Yo, I'm at the supermarket Ebro and I mean, I'm. I'm looking up the farms where the berries come from to make sure that it's something I could feed my daughter.
Ebro Darden
Well, now, because we. Everybody was off Driscoll, right? Yeah, the pesticide thing.
Laura Stiles
And by the way, Driscoll is everywhere.
Ebro Darden
You can't even get rid of. You can't run from Driscoll Farms, bro.
Laura Stiles
I had to go to another supermarket just to buy strawberries, cuz Driscoll is everywhere. Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And then Taylor Farms was the source of. Of doo doo gate.
Rahsaan
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Explosive diarrhea gate. And now, you know, y' all heard the whole story on the Taylor Farms and they, like, you know, big maga donor. There was like, some regulations that they wanted to go away. Trump allegedly and that administration, you know, finagled and changed some regulations that would have caught this normally. But, you know, now we're focused on. What are we focusing. What was we focused on last week? Oh, I know. Instead of everybody doodling on themselves, it was Trump doodling on himself at Lindsey Graham's funeral.
Griff
Bro.
Ebro Darden
Let's go to number four. Look at, look at. Look at the Secret Service man behind him. Watch. I cannot look at Trump. What. What's Trump doing? Run that back one more time.
Rahsaan
He leaned back. He was squishing that thing.
Ebro Darden
Wait, wait, wait. Watch. Trump. Trump, like, adjust. And, bro, Watch, bro.
Griff
Swe.
Laura Stiles
It looks like he let one rip. This is not true. Guys, Guys, I thought this was AI.
Ebro Darden
That's not AI. That one's not AI. I thought now there are AI ones, but that was straight from the tv.
Laura Stiles
Oh, my God.
Rahsaan
Do you think he still has a job, that guy?
Ebro Darden
Yeah, there's no. I mean, he didn't say nothing. He just was, you know, caught off, bro. Now, when you downwind from some. Listen, man, they might have moved him. They might have moved him off that duty, but I don't know if he lost his job completely, but he might be off.
Laura Stiles
That was a natural reaction, face.
Rahsaan
He could.
Ebro Darden
He tried so hard, bro. And. But. But it was not. It was his face. But run it one more time. We gotta watch. You watch Trump, though.
Rahsaan
Look at the guy next to him. Look at his eyes.
Podcast Narrator/Guest Speaker
Like.
Rahsaan
Oh, snap. I saw.
Griff
I saw
Ebro Darden
he look straight.
Laura Stiles
I saw the guy next to him's eyes. He got big. He took a whiff, too. That's terrible.
Ebro Darden
N another funny note since we off to shenanigans now.
Laura Stiles
My God.
Ebro Darden
Let's check this. Yo, let's check this national anthem with the OG Martha re. At the twilight's last gleaming who brought
Laura Stiles
stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight or the rampers we watch were so callous.
Ebro Darden
You know why I feel bad, though? Cause it's the women's pro baseball. Know damn well.
Laura Stiles
Or the land of the free and the home of the.
Ebro Darden
I'm tell y' all something, if you ever notice. You notice how Rahsaan, like, edits clips down? He didn't even edit that clip down. Normally I'm mad. I'm kind of irritated because I have something. I want to make a point where Sano edit out the whole damn point and thing. Just shorten it. He didn't even edit that.
Laura Stiles
I feel like you needed to hear all of it.
Ebro Darden
He didn't even edit that.
Rahsaan
It's not.
Ebro Darden
You didn't need it did you need to hear all of that? It wasn't going to get better.
Griff
Yes.
Rahsaan
It's not worse than Carl Lewis, though.
Ebro Darden
He still got the worst. The Olympic. The Olympics car. Carl Lew. Where was that at when he did that?
Rahsaan
That was at a Laker game.
Ebro Darden
That was at a Laker game, right?
Griff
Dang.
Ebro Darden
Listen, Rosenberg, as you've noticed, isn't here today. He was at SummerSlam WWE all weekend, and guess who he ran into. Go to 12. If Shawnee culture was still on the show, this would be a big deal. You may not recognize that. Man, that is A very fit and clean cut. Darius Rucker. That's right. Hootie and the Blowfish.
Laura Stiles
He looks great. Nice and fit.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Stiles
Wow.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, man. Cause remember the famous, infamous, famous, hilarious, hilarious moment of Shawnee culture not knowing that Hootie was a black man.
Laura Stiles
Yo, that will forever be so funny. He was like, wait, he's black?
Rahsaan
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
People were like, wait, what? That was, like, the whole thing. I mean, they had great songs, too,
Laura Stiles
but he looks great, though. He looks great.
Ebro Darden
Hilarious. Let's get to the rundown. Laura St. Let's do it. Laura got the rundown. Turn that up. Screens on Glow when she pull up headlines heavy, but we still caught up. Light still flashing. We don't slow up.
Laura Stiles
All right, a few congratulations are on the way to Ms. Coco Jones. She got married to Donovan Mitchell.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Laura Stiles
So they purposely kept their wedding plans super private to ensure an intimate ceremony. So we got to see just some small, like, little clips of them having a beautiful moment on the dance floor. So Coco Jones is the sweetest. So congratulations to both of them.
Ebro Darden
Congrats, coco.
Laura Stiles
Also, happy 16th wedding anniversary to Mr. And Mrs. Harris. T.I. and Tiny celebrated their anniversary by renewing their vows in front of their loved ones in Jamaica. So, you know, that was moving around, and I saw pictures of them, so it looked really, really. It was really, really dope. But did you guys see Vibes Cartel announced he's having a baby with his fiance? So we have the vid Rassan. That was it.
Alan Dershowitz
That was it.
Ebro Darden
That's the whole thing. Yeah, that was it.
Laura Stiles
That's dope. If you watch them, yo, their relationship is like a little reality show. So they're always, like, you know, on social media having, like, little moments. But that was super sweet. I mean, she's been with him for a long time.
Rahsaan
Wow.
Laura Stiles
So congratulations to them.
Ebro Darden
Vibes Cartel has seven children, so that would be his eighth.
Laura Stiles
Yes.
Ebro Darden
Eighth child.
Laura Stiles
Seven.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. He's got kids that's out here making records, too. Liquor, Vibes and couple other cats.
Laura Stiles
Super dope.
Ebro Darden
Yep. Liquor, Vibes and liquor Addie. That's right. So shout out to Vibes, man. Good friend of the show, that Vibes Cartel always pulls up on us.
Laura Stiles
Absolutely. Another big story that was moving around. Bts. They just, you know, they just had a huge concert at MetLife, but they opted out of submitting for the Grammys because of a new category that was created called Best Asian Pop Music Performance. Yeah, they said that they ra. They don't want to be divided by region or language. They want to be included in everything. Else. So they decided that they did not want to submit their music for the Grammys. But the Grammys were like, you can still be eligible for everything else, but we're just creating this specific category.
Ebro Darden
That's right. I think what they're doing is admirable because it makes a statement. I'm all for that. Simultaneously, though, hearing what the Grammys had to say, which is basically like. I mean, you could submit for whatever you want to submit for.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
You know what I mean?
Podcast Narrator/Guest Speaker
If you.
Ebro Darden
If you submit for. Let's say they submit for pop categories. Okay. They could still be included in Record of the Year, Song of the Year, these kind of general categories. If you submit for, let's say, this new category. What was it called?
Laura Stiles
It's. Let me see. Hold on. Sorry. It's best. Hold on, hold on.
Ebro Darden
Best Asian.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, Asian, Whatever. Yeah, it's Best Asian Pop music performance.
Ebro Darden
Best Asian Pop music performance. Because that's genre specific. You can't also be in another genre. Right. So it'd be like, if you submit as an R B artist. Right. Like, you submit your music as your album, as an R and B album, let's say you can't also be in a pop album. But I've seen artists like SZA who have songs nominated in different genres. Like, she'll have a song nominated in a pop genre. She have songs nominated R B genres. You'll have, you know, songs in the general Cat. Or an album in the general category. So I'm not quite sure what their statement makes. I'm all for a statement, but I'm not quite sure what this means. Right. Because couldn't, in theory, they have a song in this new category as well as songs in general categories and other categories.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Right. Because we've seen it before.
Rahsaan
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
So I'll leave that there. Maybe. Maybe there'll be some. Some other discoveries later on.
Griff
Right.
Laura Stiles
Also, so Tyga dropped a new album in an 80s Persona called Starface.
Ebro Darden
Listen, let me tell you something about Tyga. There's probably some hits in there I haven't listened, but I guarantee you there's gonna be some records in there that you're gonna hear and be like, yo, this is a good record.
Laura Stiles
So, you know, people. People have mixed feelings about the Rubber song. I like it.
Ebro Darden
That's the Phoenix Flexing song.
Laura Stiles
I like it.
Griff
Yes.
Ebro Darden
What's not to like about it? Cause AI.
Griff
Yes.
Laura Stiles
Because people are like, how could you? Don't do that.
Ebro Darden
I think most people are just mad because AI or Alleged. Well, he says it ain't other. The Internet says it is. It's a song. People. Artists, obviously. And there's people who don't like AI, so, I mean.
Laura Stiles
And that's what Tyga's getting on this one too. People are like, oh, my God. AI Accusations. We don't know if it's AI, though.
Ebro Darden
Oh, all right. Could be. I'm over it, guys. Y' all decide, like, you know what I'm saying? Like, I done told y' all multiple times how I feel about a lot of this. And y' all be mad. Some of y' all be mad at me. Uzi Vert put out a new EP this week, too. Y' all listen to it.
Laura Stiles
No, I didn't. Are people saying his AI?
Ebro Darden
No, I'm just bringing up that Uzi vert put out some music. No, I gotta check my.
Rahsaan
No.
Ebro Darden
What?
Laura Stiles
It didn't hit my algorithm either.
Griff
What?
Laura Stiles
It did not.
Ebro Darden
Come on, man. Uzi versus Rockstar. That be everywhere, bro. Oh, man.
Laura Stiles
All right, that's the rundown. That's the rundown.
Ebro Darden
Intros, the outros.
Griff
Yes.
Laura Stiles
We didn't talk about your favorite time of the year.
Ebro Darden
What's that?
Laura Stiles
Yeah, the summer playlist.
Ebro Darden
Wait, but how did this become my
Laura Stiles
favorite part of summer playlist?
Ebro Darden
I don't. I'm. I'm. Do you think he picks those songs? Say what now? Didn't you used to say, do you think Obama actually picked them? No, that was Rosenberg's issue with the summer playlist was that he didn't like the playlist because he's convinced that Barack Obama doesn't listen to the songs. Like, the songs, pick the songs, whatever. That was how that get put on me.
Laura Stiles
Wait, do you want to see the playlist?
Ebro Darden
Yeah, it's on Apple Music. It's my favorite. It's my favorite time of the year. What are you talking. Talking about?
Rahsaan
Well done.
Ebro Darden
You know what I'm saying? This is my favorite time of the year. You know why Apple Music put out Barack Obama's summer playlist?
Laura Stiles
I mean, he has some good joints on here.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, listen, my thing was always, like, he put songs on there that he loves.
Laura Stiles
Uhhuh.
Ebro Darden
Okay. Then there was his daughters and his wife. Yeah, I've seen Michelle at Beyonce concerts, jamming. And I tell you what, most of the. Most of the black women I know, right? That are even over 55, so Issa's grandmother, Selassie's grandmother, my aunts, they are still very in tune with, like, wanting to know what the new music is and listening, like, they're very in Tune with that. That's my experience with, you know, black women of a certain age. So they still want to be cool. They want to know what's going on, whether or not they like it or not. Hell, this weekend, I feel like grandma was singing spin that young Miami. How can you not feel like that happened in the house? Feel like that happened? Quiet on the creek was definitely. Issa was doing some dance moves. Quiet on the creek, so. And grandma might have jumped in. I don't recall. But I say all that to say that I think it's plausible that Barack either has been played those songs and said, yeah, my list. I like that joint. Or has been sitting around with Michelle and the kids and these songs that's playing, plus the joints he likes has to be. That's all. That's all I ever said about the Barack Obama playlist. Rosenberg is the one that wants to argue about whether or not. And get up. He ain't listening. Ain't no way.
Laura Stiles
There's no way.
Rahsaan
I was just about to say, I
Ebro Darden
think Obama's a big fan of boss Mandela.
Rahsaan
I really do.
Ebro Darden
I don't know about big fan, but if the kids was playing and he was like, hey, I like this little titty.
Laura Stiles
Throw it in there.
Ebro Darden
She's really got my head bobbing. Or whatever barrio's gonna say while he's smoking a joint. That's my favorite thing. I said, oh, that's the only thing I want to know about Barack. Do you still get to smoke a joint?
Rahsaan
He has to.
Ebro Darden
Barrio definitely blazing something, right? Why wouldn't you?
Rahsaan
But with all this going on especially.
Ebro Darden
No, no, no. Why, if you would worked your way to be president of the United States and now you're retired and you're Barack
Laura Stiles
Obama after all the stress he was under.
Ebro Darden
Yo, I am smoking a joint. That's what you do all this work for? So that you could kick back. He's about to be what, 65 is.
Rahsaan
Let me see.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, he's getting about to be 65.
Laura Stiles
65. Okay.
Ebro Darden
He's going to be 64. Oh, he'll turn 65.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Oh, wow. 65 tomorrow. Tomorrow. Happy birthday, Barack Obama. 65 tomorrow.
Laura Stiles
Wow.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, man. He's smoking a joint and it became
Rahsaan
legalized on his watch.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, true. Well, I mean, is it not at the federal. Federal, but a lot of states legalized. There you go. 8, 4, 4. ELR. ELR. 3. If you want to jump on the lines, the lines are always open. I know. We don't get to the calls. We got a big sponsor Too. Today, shout out to Baskin Lather. You see how luxurious my beard is looking? Well, that's thanks to my Baskin Lather products that I'm using. I wish Rosenberg was here so we could get an update on his beard journey.
Laura Stiles
I know, I know. Yeah. Hopefully he leaned off the oil and understood that it's just a little. You just need a little bit goes a long way.
Ebro Darden
Well, they also have the beard growth magic that you should get. And then for. For your dude out there that's got, like. Laura, I'm gonna allow you right now, this is not, you know, normal protocols. I'm gonna allow you to touch my beard.
Rahsaan
Okay.
Laura Stiles
I mean, here we go.
Ebro Darden
Oh, how's it feeling?
Laura Stiles
Nice. It's soft.
Ebro Darden
There you go. So most people don't know, you see the beards out here or the. Maybe the beard in your house isn't soft. Well, you can help this person get a softer beard, which is actually healthier. Right? Because you want to soften the follicle. You want to brush it, you want to do these things, take care of it so that it grows. It grows in full. But, you know, if you need that men's healthy hair and beer starter kit. You know what I'm saying? Get to Basking Lather. They have the, like I said, the beard growth magic. And this is black owned and family operated.
Laura Stiles
You got it for Ricardo.
Ebro Darden
Got it.
Laura Stiles
He has it now. He, you know, he has a very. A short little situation.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Laura Stiles
But that. That short joint is moisturized.
Ebro Darden
There you go.
Laura Stiles
And growing.
Ebro Darden
So, yes, I recommend that one Basque and lather.co.com. all right, that's where you go. Check it out. That's Baskin Lather company. And the code you should be using is ELR all right. If you want to get a discount over there. Hey, yo, El Army. We need you guys to activate on Bask and Lather co dot com. If you got a man in your life or, you know, just somebody that needs to take care of their hair and their, you know, their situations a little bit better, go get that Baskin Lather right now and just.
Laura Stiles
I'm gonna throw this out there. Baskin Lather has a lot of other cool products. So just go on the website and you can see how many amazing things it has.
Ebro Darden
Well, you know, I got conditioner. I got edge stuff for Issa's hair as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because she was, you know, wearing braids this summer. You know, getting in and out of the pool and stuff. She likes to throw braids on in summer.
Laura Stiles
Right?
Ebro Darden
So she was getting a little breakage around the baby hairs.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
On the temple. So they actually have, you know, edge kind of like regrow to kind of help those delicate hairs around the edges. So super important. Getting her tightened up. There you go. Baskinlatherco.com use the code E L R. Love it.
Laura Stiles
Now wait, let me remind everyone, Ibrahim, before we forget, before I forget, you guys, Envision Fest is happening this weekend, August 8th and 9th. I'm very excited. We have a keynote speaker, JT.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Laura Stiles
JT will be in the building talking about her career journey. So it should be a lot of fun. And plus we have amazing brand activations. We have a whole like beauty section that was curated by my girl Asia from the Cut. Like it's to be really dope. So if you're a teacher, if you're an educator, you work with the youth, you want to take advantage of this. And people, people have been hitting me up. So I appreciate you. I'm taking care of you. Just DM me, let me know, I'll give you all my information so I can sponsor a group of your students because it's going to be so much fun. And we're doing pitch competitions, we're going to be giving out grants. So it's going to be really, really dope. Go to envisionfestival.com for more information. But remember, just send me a DM @laurastiles on Instagram and I'll take care of you.
Ebro Darden
And shout to Beverly Monroe. Didn't we want to shout out Beverly Monroe? We got a collection to give away from Beverly Monroe.
Laura Stiles
We do, we do. So she has these amazing products. It's luxury eyelashes, personal healthcare essentials, beauty tools, lash accessories, little rhinestone fans to keep you cool when you're out and about. So she has these beautiful like gift sets. So you can go to beverlymonroe.com to check it out. But how do you want to do this? Do you want to do a collar?
Ebro Darden
We can do a few. How many? Beverly Monroe. Beverly, how many we got?
Laura Stiles
I think right now we should give away two boxes.
Ebro Darden
Two boxes.
Laura Stiles
Let's do it. Yes. So eight, four. Four. Elr elr. Three. If you are interested in one of these amazing boxes, just hit us up and we'll hook you up.
Ebro Darden
Beverly Monroe dot com. I'm on the website right now. I just got 10% off.
Laura Stiles
Yes, yes. It's all self care stuff. It's really cute.
Ebro Darden
Let's see what they got in here. Oh yeah, they got the Beverly Monroe brushes. They got the little mini hair straighteners.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, she has everything.
Ebro Darden
Being a girl. Dad, I'm really, really up to the time on the beauty thing. I saw the moms as well. So Issa had a. Her. Had to celebrate her birthday. So we did a party for her and her friends this weekend.
Laura Stiles
Okay.
Ebro Darden
And they went to a spot in the city where you make plushies. You know, the plushies that the kids like. So they got a room and they got to make plushies for a couple hours, her and her friends. And then we walked.
Laura Stiles
That's cool.
Ebro Darden
To a restaurant. So it was a great afternoon. But I heard the moms talking about beauty care and the fact that these girls who are all 11, maybe 12, are already now in the Sephora.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
That's normal.
Laura Stiles
So it can be. Because Sephora also sells hair care products.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Laura Stiles
So when I get a little weirded out, and this has been a conversation on so many blogs, is like when 11 year olds are looking for skin care, that's like $60 skincare. Like you do not need that.
Ebro Darden
So the price.
Laura Stiles
So it's not only the price, but it's also, you don't need all of that on your face.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Laura Stiles
You don't need all these like, you know, chemicals that are engineered for like someone a little bit older.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Laura Stiles
You know, that's where I feel it's a little.
Ebro Darden
And when. When you say engineered for someone older. Because I've never really done face care like that.
Laura Stiles
Like so, like there's certain products that are to remove dark spots on your face.
Griff
Right.
Laura Stiles
Like if you're in the sun for too long, some women develop and men develop dark spots. Like, why would you need that for an 11 year old little girl?
Ebro Darden
Yeah. I've always been. Throw a little lotion on.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Keep it pushing.
Laura Stiles
Some lotions have retinol. So it just depends what's retinol? It's supposed to be like super anti aging and I think it's supposed to like get rid of wrinkles and maybe dark spots.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Laura Stiles
I just feel like you don't need that.
Rahsaan
Yes.
Laura Stiles
Put some shea butter on your face,
Ebro Darden
you know, drink some water.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, yeah. Get like a clean. And when I mean clean, that means usually products that don't have all these extra like chemicals in there, you know, so that's when it gets a little weird. But I'll tell you, like, as a mom, like your kid sees you putting on stuff, they want to be like you. Like, I use like these under eye patches and Kenza wants to do it. So I just cut Some out of a paper towel and wet it, and I put it on her face so she feels like she's a part of it, but it's nothing. It's literally a wet paper towel that I'm putting on her face.
Ebro Darden
But, yeah, I recall one of the mothers saying something about, like, the price of things. Like, hey, you know, I'll let her put some stuff in a basket, and then I'll review what's in the basket, just to kind of like, like you said, make them feel like they're doing something without actually them doing too much.
Laura Stiles
But it gets very expensive.
Ebro Darden
Like, bro, yeah, Sephora, bro.
Laura Stiles
It's expensive. So that's the big discussion. Some moms are like, hey, if it's not harming them, you should let them be. You be. Be a part of their skincare routine. Let them live. And then other people are like, they don't need that. They're too young.
Ebro Darden
Right? Well, interestingly enough. So all these years, Christmas and birthdays, Issa has never put together, like, a list of items that she wanted.
Laura Stiles
Okay?
Ebro Darden
This was the first. First year she put together, like, a literal list, okay, of like, I want this backpack. I want, you know, these. I want to. She wanted a ring. I told her when she was 12, she could get a second piercing in her ear. So we're going to get the second piercing in the ear.
Laura Stiles
That's nice.
Ebro Darden
She wanted a new phone case because, you know, we talked about the fact she got a phone a few months ago. She's been doing really good with that. Okay.
Laura Stiles
Where you going?
Ebro Darden
No, no, no, nothing crazy. It was just like, your girl is really out here trying to. You know what I'm saying? She's on her glow up. You know what I mean? Like, she's really on her. You know, not to put, you know, she's been working hard this summer, right? So she's been doing trainer some days, double days, football. Like, really, really grinding it out this summer. She woke up the other day talking about, daddy, I got abs. It was showing the whole Live on shirt. Showing the whole family a little two pack. I was like, all right, chill out, chill out, chill out, chill out.
Laura Stiles
I mean, she's working hard, bro. She's working hard.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. So she earned it. And so we, you know, everything that was on it wasn't that crazy on this. She asked for nothing. You know what I'm saying? Like, super expensive. She doesn't want, like, designer bags or. You know what I'm saying? Nothing like that. A few weeks ago, so a few weeks ago, we was driving through the city, and, you know, we was going down Canal street, and, you know, Jazz, my lady, was like, oh, let me jump out. You know, she likes to look.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Just to be nosy. She ain't gonna cop nothing, but she wanna look anyway. Issa was like, can I have, like, a bootleg coach bag? Like, she wanted, like, a fake joint.
Griff
Yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
She was like, I don't really want, like, a real joint, but Jazz actually bought her, like, a real school. A real. Like, her first real coach.
Laura Stiles
Oh, nice.
Ebro Darden
Yo, she was hype on it. Like, hype. But you know me, I. I hear the girls y' all talk about, like, the going down on Canal street to cop the, like, fake bags is, like. It's, like, funny in a game or something like this.
Rahsaan
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Like, girls get, like, a kick out of, like, ooh, what did they have down there? Just on some, like. But it was interesting that, like, seeing Issa turn 12 and be like, I want, like, a. An actual purse.
Laura Stiles
That one little bag. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Like an actual purse, which was.
Laura Stiles
And a Coach bag is a good starter bag.
Ebro Darden
Right, right, right, right. But I didn't even know girls were still into that. I didn't even know. I didn't know what the. Like, I didn't know what young girls, like, was a thing. Like, coach bags were still a thing or some.
Laura Stiles
Some girls, like.
Ebro Darden
And that's not expensive. It's a couple hundred dollars, right?
Laura Stiles
Yeah, yeah. It's not crazy.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Stiles
But some girls, like, their first bag is, like, a Telfar bag.
Ebro Darden
Oh, but that's not expensive either, right? No, they just sell out.
Laura Stiles
50 bucks. Yeah. He personally makes it affordable because he believes that all girls should be able to afford it.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Laura Stiles
They just sell out.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Laura Stiles
But there's a store. It's funny, because he has a store down on Canal Street. And then, like, there was this whole thing where it's like. And I hope I'm not getting this wrong, but where he was, like, letting the bootleggers bootleg his stuff. He's like, sure, go ahead.
Ebro Darden
Right, right, right.
Laura Stiles
I don't care. Better for me, you know, Or. And sometimes people were saying that they might have gotten some real ones, like, to just, you know, mix it up. But yeah, he's very much like, it's New York City. That's what you do. I don't care. Take a bootleg him right in front of him.
Ebro Darden
Yo, man, shout out to Telfar. I love that. I love, love, love that. Because you know what? This used to Happen at Summer Jam, too, right? Like, it used to be a thing. People making the bootleg Summer Jam shirts. And I remember we used to. I always used to be like, yo, don't shut down those people selling bootleg.
Laura Stiles
Sometimes they're better.
Ebro Darden
Well, not only that, but it's also like. It's a part of, like, the. The kind of hood economy in a way, right? Like, Summer Jam happens once a year, you know? I'm saying hip hop comes from the community. Let everybody get to some. Some bread today, bro.
Laura Stiles
At the Jay Z concert. They were amazing bootlegs.
Ebro Darden
Oh, nah.
Laura Stiles
What?
Ebro Darden
Outside was.
Griff
Yes.
Laura Stiles
They were so good.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, you can't shut that down, man. That's part of it. That's. That's. That's part of the whole deal. Let's get to the gurus. Rosenberg. Laura, you know you are beautiful queen Ebro. Don't ever play yourself. You're not a guru.
Laura Stiles
Hey, Griffey, let me see. Okay, hold on. It's not coming up. Let me see. All right, here we go.
Ebro Darden
No emails. The guru is over. I knew this day would come.
Laura Stiles
I found it. Oh, this is a quick one.
Ebro Darden
The guru is in shambles.
Laura Stiles
Hello, all. I'm a big listener from Texas. I will be traveling to New York in a few weeks for my second wedding anniversary. Now, this is the Easy Guru, okay? He's like, where is a good place for me to take my wife for an anniversary dinner? We're staying on 42nd street near Times Square.
Ebro Darden
Don't do it. You are. You already screwed up. You already screwed up. Botched it. You botched it. Off top. Times Square.
Laura Stiles
I would love some advice.
Ebro Darden
You botched it.
Laura Stiles
I want to give him a shout out, but I don't. I. But I don't know if he wants his name out there, so maybe I'll just keep.
Alan Dershowitz
Keep it.
Laura Stiles
I'll keep it. Okay. Staying at. Listen, people like to stay on 42nd street because it's time Square.
Ebro Darden
Don't do it.
Laura Stiles
I wouldn't recommend it. But he's already there. Ebro. So where.
Ebro Darden
Wait, when's he coming to the city?
Laura Stiles
It says. Yeah, in a few weeks.
Ebro Darden
He could change that. He could cancel that change.
Laura Stiles
Listen, if you're not locked into the hotel, maybe try going a little bit downtown.
Ebro Darden
There's some nice hotels on Park Avenue. Yeah, down more in 20s. There's hotels, obviously. Let me see. Tribeca might be too pricey, though. Those hotel prices get crazy. I'm trying to think where some good for not affordable. But just, you know, just do your research.
Alan Dershowitz
Though.
Laura Stiles
Yeah. Because you can go hotels.com or any of those and just look for the cute boutique hotels. You'll find something.
Ebro Darden
They said, you know, the real thing with the Times Square Hotel is not that they're. They couldn't be a nice hotel, because there's definitely nice hotels. It's just that a lot of that stuff is so overrun and chaotic all the time. If you want that complete, you know, as soon as you hit the lobby, energy. Yeah. But if you want, like, hey, let's go to Times Square, but then let's also enjoy some other parts of Manhattan that aren't as hectic. Like, I would. I would advise you getting a hotel somewhere else.
Laura Stiles
All right. But he's asking, like, where should he take his wife for an anniversary dinner? But it just depends on what you
Ebro Darden
like to eat eat, what style.
Laura Stiles
You know what I mean?
Ebro Darden
If you are. If you have a restaurant. Let me just tell you this. If you have a nice enough restaurant in New York, okay. For you to stay open, it has to be pretty damn good to compete.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
I'll put it to you like that. So the odds of you striking out, completely striking out and getting bad food, you would have to show up to, like, a chain restaurant to strike out and get bad food, man. In Times Square. Yes.
Laura Stiles
Don't have dinner in Times Square.
Ebro Darden
Do not have dinner in Times Square.
Laura Stiles
Don't do that.
Ebro Darden
What kind of food do you want? What's your price point? Because this is New York City. You could have. Brooklyn chop is on 47th.
Laura Stiles
You could take.
Ebro Darden
Walk up a little bit. Brooklyn Chop is a nice place. Okay. Brooklyn Chop, Rahsaan says, okay, that's kind of. That's kind of a. That's a scene. People like it.
Laura Stiles
Yeah. Yeah. If you want something, like intimate and not flashy, but still really good food. I love this Italian restaurant downtown in Soho called Emporio. It's super good. It's very intimate, though. It's a small restaurant, so get a reservation.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Stiles
But it's not impossible to get, so it just depends. It depends on what you want. So this is broad. So if you want, email us back, let us know some specifics. Because, I don't know, are you guys vegetarian? Do you guys want a steakhouse?
Ebro Darden
It's a lot, so you can have anything. And you talking to, you know, Laura Styles is bougie New York. So she's in all the artsy, fartsy underground spots. And he talking to me. I won't even listen. Listen. Actually, no, I had lunch Times Square this weekend. Actually, I had lunch at Times Square this weekend. So I was going to say I wouldn't even go to Times Square, but I had to. It was Easter's birthday.
Rahsaan
Okay.
Ebro Darden
And they. You know, the. The plushy spot was, like, a few blocks off Times Square, and then that was the. That was the spot they picked. So, you know, that's where we end up going. We was at the Yard House, Times Square. That's what we got.
Laura Stiles
Okay.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. But do not go to the Yard House for your anniversary. It is not. It is a be. There's a beer and, like, sports bar spot. Don't. Don't do that. But, yeah, it's tough. It's tough to tell you exactly where, but send us another email, and we could try to give you some better insight. Yeah, you can go Little Italy. You know, there's still amazing spots in Chinatown. There's amazing spots all over Tribeca. Like I said, Battery Park. There's so many different places.
Laura Stiles
The chat says hunting fish, Club, Philippe Chow. Like, those are all good.
Ebro Darden
Hunting fish, Philippe Chow. Those are all good staples. Been all them spots.
Laura Stiles
Yeah. Just get a reservation.
Ebro Darden
Would you say that grip QD reservations while they come in a couple weeks.
Rahsaan
Not getting hunting fish.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Oh, hunting fish is tough to get in.
Laura Stiles
Yeah, you just got to, you know, got to do a little research.
Ebro Darden
But once again, I. I wouldn't know.
Laura Stiles
Hit us up. I'll try to help you out.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, it is. Yo, that's the gurus.
Griff
Thanks.
Ebro Darden
Now it's time for the outro. Get up out of here. Listen, guys, I'll be honest. I wasn't really in the mood today. Could you tell I wasn't in the mood, man. Actually, you seem pretty cool. Say what? I said you seem pretty cool today.
Alan Dershowitz
You wasn't.
Ebro Darden
You wasn't moody or anything. No, that's what I'm saying. I wasn't in the mood to give it anything.
Griff
Any energy.
Alan Dershowitz
Oh.
Ebro Darden
Like, sometimes. Sometimes it's like, you know, I'm affected by what's going on, and other times I'm like, nah, this is dumb. It's all done.
Laura Stiles
I get it.
Ebro Darden
It's all dumb. It's all stupid. And it's also, like, I'm often looking around like, you know, We're being played, bro. Yeah, that part.
Laura Stiles
That's why I need breaks from social media, because that's how I feel. This is all a big social experiment, and we're all being played.
Griff
We're.
Ebro Darden
We're all being played. But. But, by the way, I have a hard time. We've Always all been. Been being played here in this social experiment of the United States of America. Like, it's always been a game. It's always been a sham. There's always been lies. There's always been withholding of information by the government. There's always been people getting killed by our government. And I'm talking about citizens, you know what I mean? Like, it's all like, look at history. And we continue this like, hamster on a wheel thing. You know, like, even right now, where you have, in New York City, you have a mayor who actually is giving people hope. Okay? Crime is super down. People are really enjoying it. And maybe, and maybe they are naive. Right? Who knows what this will look like in two, three years. But I tell you what, right now, if you're between the ages of 18 and 30 in New York City, city, you're having a phenomenal summer, man. Yeah, you're having a phenomenal summer. You know, programs for kids. People are trying to find solutions to things. It's. The mayor's just not out here just delivering problems and chaos all the time. When he's confronted with people trying to be negative, he defuses it and really points to the work that needs to be done. The work, the work, the work that needs to be done.
Laura Stiles
People are finally feel seen. That's really what it is. Like, I've seen people saying, like, for once, I feel like somebody is listening to me. Everyone has been living in horrible living conditions and been calling three one, one till it's. You know what I mean? And to nothing. Finally we're seeing some change. How can you be mad at that?
Ebro Darden
People are trying to make him the villain.
Rahsaan
And I was gonna say, and I'm seeing him actually go door to door to regular citizens of the city to like, announce different things that he. He's doing and things like that. So they have the knowledge of what's going on. Like, the mayor of New York City is going door to door to residents.
Laura Stiles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And then, by the way, even if that's marketing and narrative shaping and all of that, phenomenal marketing, phenomenal narrative. Better than the other options that we've had. So why wouldn't you be excited about that? You know what I'm saying? And I think that's where, like, I wake up and I see. See people going at him trying to continue to make it negative, negative, negative, and him trying to go positive, positive, positive. And I, you know, that's why I started the show by like, yo, man, I'm over it, man. Like, there's. There's definitely young people out here who want to do something positive, and we just gotta help those young people stay focused on doing something positive. All this arguing over democratic socialism and arguing over, you know, what's the policies, man? Do they want health care for people? Do they want to help people get jobs? Do they have a path to finding solutions? Let's support them. That's it. I mean, see y' all tomorrow, man. Ebro Laura Rosenberg. I think Rosenberg's back tomorrow. And so we will continue. And we appreciate y', all, man. Thank you for supporting the show.
Laura Stiles
Bye, guys.
Ebro Darden
Just don't call it a podcast.

Episode 154 of The Ebro, Laura, Rosenberg Show is a vivid microcosm of 2026 culture: political spectacle, media skepticism, health paranoia, algorithm fatigue, and authentic community roots. With Ebro’s deadpan “over it” refrain as the throughline, the crew deconstructs the day’s chaos, calls out hypocrisy, laughs at the absurd, and—despite the noise—offers reminders of resilience, music, and real-life solution-seeking in the city that never sleeps.
