Trick has been on the rise and we found out he was gonna be in town and found out he could drop by for the beginning of the show so we could at least. I wanted to at least let you guys meet this man, because this is a true new star that the WWE has been fortunate enough to stumble upon. Can't say stumble upon, though. You've been at this. You're 31, right? You've been grinding at this for a minute.

That's right. I went to Hampton University. QT9, for those who know. Then I transferred my sophomore year to the University of South Carolina, which is home for me, and walked on and worked my way up to starting and playing ball, eventually making it camp for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Got cut from there and then found my way in WWE tryout and been wrestling ever since.

What is it that sparked your interest to even try out?

[Trick Williams]

Well, you know, to be honest with you, I've always been a fan of wrestling. Like, I grew up on Stone Cold Steve Austin in the Rock. Matter of fact, at three years old, I opened a can of whoop ass. My mama said I gotta stop watching wrestling.

[Ebro Darden]

Oh, really?

[Trick Williams]

So I always been in the game, you know what I'm saying? But I just never thought about, oh, I wanna pursue this for myself. So once football ended and then I got an email from WWE saying, are you interested in coming for a tryout?

[Laura Rosenberg]

Oh, so they came to you?

[Trick Williams]

They came to me.

[Laura Rosenberg]

Wow.

[Bascom X]

And what had they seen that was like, hey, this might be for you, you know?

[Trick Williams]

And I'm still trying to figure this out.

[Bascom X]

Like, I don't know.

[Trick Williams]

I think the paperwork got mixed up,

you know what I mean?

And it was just supposed to be, you know what I mean? I feel at home, you know what I mean? Being a WWE Superstar is where I'm supposed to be.

It's so cool.

But are you. Have you Been at all overwhelmed. Cause like, you know, when. So basically in wwe, you know, as you guys I think may know by now, most of the times people go to NXT and develop there. NXT is the development territory. But at the same time, it's on tv, it's on CW every Tuesday night.

[Bascom X]

It's its own bitch and it's got its own. And that's how you really build your fan base.

[Ebro Darden]

Correct. So and then hopefully you get an opportunity to go Raw or smackdown. And when people go to Raw or smackdown, everyone has a different sort of arrival. Some people it's slower. Some people it's quicker. I don't know what I expected your reception to be like, but I can say assuredly I didn't think it was going to be like the loudest pop of the night every night. Are you surprise that it's been this crazy on smackdown for you, man, I'm grateful.

[Trick Williams]

You know what I mean? I thank God every single morning because you never know how people gonna take to you. So, I mean, I had to walk out there with confidence.

So you have to have a lot of faces in that crowd. You know that guy, I know that

And like cuz they're, it's in the same loc, it's in Orlando every week

and they've been loyal to us, man. Shout out to the NXT fans. They show up every single week and they loud and they excited and you know, that's how special it was because we was in Orlando for such a long time. And of course he was whooping that trick there.

Yeah.

But we went all the way across the country to LA or something like that and once whooped that trick, you know, across the country for the first time in front of like 5,000 or whatever it was, it was like, oh shoot, look at what has started now. And the momentum's just never slow.

And then when you started Smackdown, correct me if I'm wrong, you were immediately in Europe, weren't you?

[Trick Williams]

Yeah, well, I did, I did one week in Buffalo, okay. I interrupted Sami Zayn.

And then Germany, Montreal, Toronto.

That was a while ago, but long

enough ago that you could mess around with the wrestler in the studio and someone would run in and go, oh, my God, please don't do that.

Oh, yeah, yeah. No, it was. It was definitely before people started stepping in, worried about lawsuits.

[Ebro Darden]

Yeah. So. And so Ebro always tells the story that he tried to lift up John and he's like, nah, I had him up. But then Jon decided to not let

[Trick Williams]

him pick him up. The big boy lean down on him.

[Ebro Darden]

Did you get to have any moments with Jon on the way out?

[Trick Williams]

Yeah, yeah, for sure. Well, I guess before the way out, but he came to NXT and, you know, he sits down. He loves paying it forward, talking to the young talent and, you know, just sharpening up your. Your mindset on the business. So he's always been great for us.

[Bascom X]

Your. Your athleticism, your ability to stay healthy. Right. Like all of that talk about that. Because that's something that I've heard for you and obviously I hear a lot from Rosenberg too.

[Trick Williams]

Right.

[Bascom X]

Yes. You have a song that people know. Yes. You have all these other God given gifts. Yes. You're, you know, but you have to be great in that ring for real wrestling fans for sure. To really embrace you. Right. So we could talk. All the people could talk all the trash they want about you being New, but you still have to show up, straight up and put on a great show. And they're critique you heavy. But talk about leaning in on that, right?

[Trick Williams]

So, as you know, I had a football background.

[Bascom X]

Yeah.

[Trick Williams]

So for 20 years, I played. I was an offensive guy. I played wide receiver, where if you good at football, the goal is to stay off the ground. You know, my first day of becoming a WWE Superstar, you learn how to fall, flip, cartwheel and everything, but stay on your feet. You know, that messes with your mind automatically as is right there. But, you know, what we do as performers is like nothing else, because we intertwine everything that entertainment has to offer and put it all into one. You have to be aware of, you know, tv. You have to be aware of the audience. You gotta be able to cut a promo when you're out of breath. You gotta be able to be athletic, and you gotta be able to show your body on this side. You know, we are ultimate performers, you know what I mean? And you can't really compare it to much else. And then we get down and dirty. It's physical as well. So it's a special thing. And it just takes years and years and years of grinding to become really good at craft.

[Ebro Darden]

Do you feel you're good yet, like, in the ring now that you've been in there? Cause the other day you were in there with Randy, you were in there with Cody, Javon, obviously a really great talent that was in there. Do you feel that you're good yet? Like, what level do you think you're at? Because as long as you've been doing it, you're still early in the game for this whole thing.

[Trick Williams]

Well, I would say my mindset and the reason I've even gotten this far is because, man, I have a perfectionist mindset. So even after a good match, I never feel like I'm there. You know what I mean? I'm always picking apart everything that I do, say, I gotta work on this, I gotta work on that. You know what I mean? So, no, I don't feel like I've hit my max potential yet. You know, I'm ready to keep grinding.

[Bascom X]

That's what keeps me and how many years now out of NXT?

[Ebro Darden]

Oh, no, he's brand new at NXT.

But watching people try to do this for, you know, eight, 10 years on the road, you guys are on the road, what, eight months out of the year? Something crazy like that?

[Ebro Darden]

No, 12 months out of the year.

[Bascom X]

12 months out.

[Trick Williams]

12 months. I mean, first and first, shout out to Nick Khan and Triple H for, you know, where they put the business at today. Because we're all over the world. Yeah, we on espn. You know what I mean? We on your show. We everywhere. So, I mean, mentally, like, while things is going hot, I just gotta ride this momentum. I gotta go crazy. Every single Friday. I'm trying to go viral.

[Bascom X]

Live in the moment.

I'm living in the moment and stay healthy. I'm throwing everything at it now.

[Ebro Darden]

But hold on. This just crossed my mind. They did sort of simplify your life, though. You and your lady got put on the same show.

That's right. Yes. My fiance is the tag team champion of the world.

Oh, you got a whole romance going on.

I tried to tell you I was a real deal. I just wanted to toot my own horn, you know?

The average person's relationship, average Jewish person's relationship with Israel. Average is. You heard about it in synagogue and at Hebrew school. And maybe you have positive. Most people, most average Jewish Americans, their life does not revolve around. Around Israel. It has very little to do with it.

They may cover it up, they may try to be cute about it, but at one time, Candace, Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene have all espoused classic the Jews are coming to get you anti Semitic tropes. And they're the loudest voices being reposted about their smart positions on Israel when there are tons of non Jew hating progressives, Zoran Momdani and many, many more us a million people. People who are also against what Israel's doing and do not remotely have negative feelings towards Jewish people. I know. The hard part is though, I'm seeing everybody fall for the banana in the tailpipe with Tucker Carlson who they will want to run for President of the United States of America. And the guy has been a Jew hater for years. That's why. It's not just that they're against Israel. Israel's pulling the strike strings of the United States because the Jews pull the strings. That's what they're doing. Because it's not Israel's pulling all the strings. It's that the US And Israel are together. Stop acting like the US Is dumb and Israel's just like, we got the. When we did go out, I expressed his POV and told her I had to take a step back a bit to invest in my relationship and respect him as well. That's when everything shifted and it became him being blamed for any disagreement or occasion that I would decline whether he and I had plans or I was handling something with my family. Fast forward to September 25th. I almost lost my last life in a crazy accident that truly messed me up mentally, physically and emotionally. I reached out to her the day of while I was still in the hospital because she's My best friend and one of the most important people in my life. But I didn't hear back from her till almost a week later.

I was extremely hurt. Voiced it to her, let her know when she needs me. I run for her. But this time around, in my time of need, I felt abandoned. She blew it off like I was exaggerating because I only called her once. That was the ultimate slap in the face because I would never do that to her. Now here we are several months later, and it's to the point where I'm seeing things on IG that I've been purposely. That I have been purposely left out of. Calls and texts go unanswered for several days, sometimes more than a week. I noticed the other day that I'm now blocked from viewing her stories. Is this something I should try to have a final convo and walk away from? Or should I just burn it all down and let it be what it is at the moment? Thank you for your advice and wisdom to guide me through whatever my new reality seems to be. Love always fought for life. I'm sorry. That doesn't sound easy.

It's. This one hits home for me in that specific spot though, it's different. There's a friendship in Natalie's life that had. Had been having back and forth and dwindling for a variety of reasons. And I think feelings on both side of like, why are you not? And why are you not? And then like a little bit of that. But then when Rocky passed, Natalie sent a picture of this person with Rocky and is like, I lost Rocky today. Something like that. She never wrote back to me. There are like these line in the sand moments where when you can't across like death or trauma or accident, put aside whatever you're doing to say, hey, hey, we need to. I'm here. To me, that is sort of the death of the friendship.

Like, because what is the point? Because like I could, I, I. There could be someone I don't, I can't stand in my life, bro. There are people I literally don't like. You could be someone I literally have a bad relationship with.
