Ebro

Rosenberg
Still got my hoodie?
Laura

Ebro
It's the Paradise Podcast.
Laura
I am your host, Ryan Michele Bathey, with my husband Sterling.
Ebro
What's up?
Laura
Join us here on Hulu and Hulu on Disney, where we'll discuss each episode with the cast and crew of Paradise. I'll be getting all the secrets from Dan Fogelman, James Marsden, Shailene Woodley, Julianne Nicholson, and Sterling Kelby Brown. Paradise, the official podcast, is now streaming
Ebro
and stream paradise on Hulu and Hulu on Disney. Just don't call it a podcast. The Bro Laura Rosenberg show. I don't know. Did Rosenberg see the gift?
Rosenberg
No.
Ebro
It's a good way for him to start the show. Rosenberg, the gift. We got.
Rosenberg
We got a gift. We got a gift and they. Someone gave a card that says we got plans?
Ebro
No, they gave us a whole. They made a whole sign for it. Wow. Sure. You gotta put up on camera, Turn it around so the cameras can see
Rosenberg
which camera is best. That's the wide.
Laura
Yeah.
Ebro
Wow, look at that.
Rosenberg
We got.
Ebro
Hold me.
Rosenberg
Get straight.
Ebro
We got plans. That is from a Stephanie Corral, I think is how you said pronounce it. Stephanie Carao Corral. Yeah. She wrote us a letter. She said, to Ebro, Laura, and Rosenberg. Or made us a card. Excuse me. And the car says, we got plans. It says, to Ebro, Laura, Rosenberg, and Griff. I've been a listener since before any of you had kids. And over the years, it's been amazing watching you all grow your families. For so many years, every morning and traffic was spent with you all. From taking my son to daycare through high school.
Rosenberg
Whoa.
Ebro
You were all a part of our daily lives. The conversation segments and laughs got us through Those long drives. Ooh, bars. When the show ended, we all felt lost. You took a chance on your listeners and started something new. Not because you had to, but because you wanted to. The sh. That shows loyalty. I made this small piece as a small thank you for the impact you've made on our lives.
Rosenberg
Wow.
Ebro
Stephanie Carao. The old mom in the car. Stephanie. Your handwriting's not bad. She said sorry for the handwriting. I only learned script in school. Not Stephanie.
Rosenberg
Hair.
Laura
Right.
Ebro
It's too. And then.
Rosenberg
Wow.
Ebro
I'm assuming Sunny Acres. She put a card in here.
Laura
Maybe that's her business.
Ebro
It's her business. Sunny. So, Acres. Yeah.
Rosenberg
That's really nice.
Laura
That's a custom card. Rosenberg.
Rosenberg
I see.
Ebro
I know.
Rosenberg
They don't say we got plans at Hallmark.
Ebro
So there's been this whole convo on the show about decorating the room. Should we put this on our little shelves back there? This goes. This is about as. As elaborate as what you guys were going put up there yesterday.
Rosenberg
Facts. Well, or should it be. Should it just be the sign? Should we just put her sign up?
Ebro
Put the sign up.
Rosenberg
At least let it live for a little bit. I mean, it deserves some love, by the way. Maybe things can rotate on the shelves that, like, come from Fox.
Ebro
Did you come up with that yourself?
Rosenberg
Just right now.
Ebro
Nice.
Rosenberg
But that is very nice, man. That's really, very cool. Really thoughtful.
Ebro
And shout out to all the. The. The. The listeners who stop us in the street. I don't know about you guys. Yeah, I've been getting stopped a lot.
Rosenberg
Really?
Ebro
People outside a lot, bro.
Rosenberg
Wow.
Ebro
This show is moving around, people talking, and we still ain't even unleashed all of our plans.
Rosenberg
No, not all the plans have been unleashed.
Laura
It's like a reintroduction to a lot of people. Because people used to get pieces of our show, and I think now they get a whole chunk.
Ebro
Do you feel like people are seeing more of us?
Laura
Yes. 100.
Rosenberg
You do?
Laura
100. Yes.
Rosenberg
I can't say that I know that yet.
Laura
Yeah.
Rosenberg
I don't.
Ebro
You're not feeling that?
Rosenberg
I'm not saying I'm not feeling it. I'm just like. I got some love in the street yesterday. But they didn't say anything specific.
Ebro
Right. You know, I've gotten some real specific. There was a guy, I was sitting outside of. Of the Apple, one of the Apple offices yesterday, having a cold brew.
Rosenberg
Good for you. Okay. Like a job.
Ebro
3 o', clock, Ebro show on Apple Music. Matter of fact, El army needs y' all to lock in. 3 o'. Clock. Live on the Ebro show. Listen some tunes and stuff. But anyway, man walks up. His name is also Peter.
Rosenberg
You say his name is also Ebro. I was almost impressed.
Ebro
No, Peter.
Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro
And he says his wife calls him the Black Rosenberg.
Rosenberg
The Black Rosenberg. And his name's Peter.
Ebro
And he was a Jewish studies minor.
Rosenberg
I think he said it's giving Cory Booker.
Ebro
But he said he listened to us in New York. Him and his wife are huge fans. Wow. They moved down south and moved back to New York and had been along for the ride the whole way, and they loved the show.
Rosenberg
Wow. Why. Why now? Did you. Did you get the explanation on why the Black Rosenberg?
Ebro
I assumed it was because of his interest in Jewish studies in Jewish history.
Rosenberg
Oh, is that it? But I'm not that interested in Jewish studies.
Ebro
Well, I think it was just a Jew. Peter. Jewish Studies Jewish.
Rosenberg
Peter's on a Jewish name. Peter's a Christian.
Ebro
No, no. Jewish person.
Rosenberg
Peter.
Ebro
Jewish studies. His name's Peter. Your name's Peter.
Rosenberg
And mostly the point is they listen to the show.
Ebro
That's it.
Rosenberg
That's the point.
Ebro
And she just wanted to call him the Black Rose.
Rosenberg
I. I love that.
Ebro
And maybe they have other interests or he has other interests that align with yours.
Rosenberg
Maybe. Or maybe he lays that down and smacketh yaketh. And she's like, damn, you're like the black Rosa.
Laura
Oh, my God.
Ebro
But the question. I don't know.
Rosenberg
That's what her imagination said.
Ebro
But does she know that you lay down and smack. That's what I'm saying.
Rosenberg
If that. Like, I could not.
Ebro
She assumes you get. You put it down.
Rosenberg
I connote that to her.
Ebro
That's right.
Rosenberg
So with her, man, she's like, damn, you must be like the.
Ebro
That's the. That's the AA you're giving on the program.
Rosenberg
Can I dream up an aura? Come on, man.
Ebro
I wasn't negating it or debating.
Rosenberg
No, you were allowing it to live.
Ebro
Rock out.
Rosenberg
What?
Ebro
You hangout.
Rosenberg
Nah, that's really. That's. That's really cool, man. Shout out. Shout out to them.
Ebro
And I didn't delve deeper into the combo because I was FaceTiming with jazz, having a little before my next show. Ten minutes. Well, yeah. Yesterday was like, you know, getting Issa from school to Alvin Ailey and all the. All the different things we got to do during the week to. To make things happen. So it was just busy. I was just checking in, making sure things were flowing.
Rosenberg
Well. Listen, I'm not doubting that the. The movement is out there. I definitely Feel good outside? I just haven't had a lot of combos, but I haven't been to a lot of stuff recently either. You know what I mean? I haven't been outside that much, I
Ebro
think, and yesterday was interesting because it was a lot of people outside. The weather was beautiful. I mean, did you guys get a taste of the sunshine? Did you guys?
Rosenberg
Did I.
Laura
It was so nice yesterday. I walked everywhere. It was so nice.
Ebro
Good for you. I love that for you. Speaking of New York City. Let's go. We got somebody new producing the show today. His name's Joe.
Laura
Yeah.
Ebro
If anything goes wrong, blame Joe. Yes, but ultimately blame. Still blame Rahsaan because he decided he wanted to have another kid. And I think they're at the hospital right now.
Laura
Huh?
Ebro
Yo, Rasa. Hey, yo, my man.
Laura
He's waiting.
Ebro
No, did we tell the audience? Yo, did we tell the audience that I forced Joe to come in against Rahsaan's wishes? We told them that. Rahsaan was like, nah, I' ma be there. Don't worry. I was like, bro, your wife is going to have a. She's gonna need to go to the hospital, have a baby. He's like, nah, nah, nah, I'm gonna make it.
Laura
I had to threaten him, Hebro. I was like, you better be there for her. What is.
Rosenberg
You know what I think's happening? I think Bascom knows that he's pissed off Ebro so many times with being late and things of that nature that he feels that if he skips his wife's birth to show his loyalty, that'll get Ebro off his back.
Ebro
You know what you need to do, Rahsaan not do wide shots that show a cardboard box with Rosenberg's drink on. How about that?
Rosenberg
And start the show not at 803.
Ebro
But these are the things that's way.
Rosenberg
Bro doesn't want you to skip your. Your child's birth. He just wants the show to start at 8:00'.
Ebro
Clock.
Rosenberg
That's it. And you're already here at, like, 7:00'. Clock.
Ebro
Yeah. So why can't we be on time?
Rosenberg
It's not so hard. Basco doesn't run in late and. No, he's here. But when it gets to be, like, close to time, we're looking at him. He's still walking around. We're like, wait. Talking to Louie and Griff, getting it close again. Chitchat.
Ebro
Yo, that's the chit chat crew over there.
Rosenberg
Nah, the chit chat's crazy.
Ebro
Chit chat's crazy. In the morning, I walk in sometimes. Griff's talking to Laura. I'm like, yo, we got five minutes to go. And he's telling stories about his sister and his mom and the kids. And Laura's like, really?
Rosenberg
I can't believe he's. By the way. I can't believe he's running this back a fourth time though. This is. It's so crazy. What?
Ebro
We're signed with the kid, man, four times. They didn't plan on it.
Laura
Listen, listen.
Rosenberg
No, no, they didn't because they gave away everything.
Ebro
Talk about lay them down. Smack it.
Rosenberg
Yeah, I guess. Yo, listen. Hey, I got one thing to say. God bless.
Laura
Yes, we're wishing you so much love. No, we're sending you so much love.
Rosenberg
Yeah, I mean that's crazy that they just three kids to just stumb to another one means the work is getting done. Let's talk about it. Cuz kids don't just happen willy nilly out of nowhere. It's not cuz you had sex once that a child was created.
Ebro
I mean for some.
Rosenberg
For some. But we timing generally learn up. You learn things got to line up. You know what I mean?
Ebro
Some people are fertile.
Rosenberg
I guess so.
Laura
Yes.
Rosenberg
Some more than other. For sure. It does just pop off.
Ebro
Yo, I had a conversation early this morning cuz I was up. Issa. Issa's cooking some breakfast or doing something for parents at the school. She had to be at School at 6am today.
Laura
Oh my God. Okay.
Ebro
And they're doing like a pancake parent breakfast or something. So she's one of the. Or.
Rosenberg
Okay, okay.
Ebro
You know, my, my, my amazing daughter always volunteering for something at school outside of her other activities that she's already got outside of the other activities that the school already plans to just, you know, throw your schedule into a tail.
Rosenberg
Plus the show last Friday.
Ebro
Oh, star. People. People were what? She's ringing off.
Rosenberg
Oh, she was hot out here.
Ebro
Go ahead, bro.
Laura
That even our social was on fire.
Rosenberg
People love the Easter content.
Ebro
Well, anyway, I got a call from one of our mutual friends and for some reason he went our. All of us. Yes. No names for now. But he wanted to tell me how fertile he was as he gets prepared to get married and you know they're planning to have kids. I was like, yo, my guy. All right, I know I'm of a certain age now where you just like start talking about fertility, but I don't really need to know what's going on with your junk. My dude. At six in the morning. Six.
Rosenberg
Wait, wait, wait. We do we know this person's? Getting married.
Ebro
I think so.
Rosenberg
All of us do.
Ebro
I think you do.
Laura
Okay. All right.
Rosenberg
You know who it is?
Laura
I think I know who it is.
Ebro
But we all need to say names. And the audience. I ain't putting nobody business you can know.
Rosenberg
Can you send it to me?
Ebro
Okay, you could. We could do it after the show
Rosenberg
now, because it'll just give me intel on the conversation. But they just call up a Yo, my joints ringing off out here.
Ebro
No, no, it was. It was a little bit. It was a little bit more of an update of life than that.
Rosenberg
And then it. At six in the morning.
Ebro
Yeah. Because this person doesn't go to sleep, and I'm always like, yo, go to sleep.
Rosenberg
Got it. Oh, that. That's possible. I see what you're saying. Yeah. Well, listen, I say this. I hope that's true, because I've been on the other side of. I thought I was fertile my whole life. In fact, I had. I wouldn't say empirical evidence, but I really, really had every reason to believe that I was. And then when it came to baby time, guess what I learned? Not so much. My guy took a little bit of work from the old medical team, and I realized. I realized the other day. And this is one of the things I'm going to get into in the podcast that I'm starting that I'm never going to.
Ebro
We have that trailer ready for the new podcast.
Rosenberg
Wait, I don't know. You have the trailer still on deck?
Ebro
Because we've been trying to play this trailer for three weeks, and now we've transitioned to the actual topic, so.
Rosenberg
Well, this is one of the things that it's not, like, listed as one of the topics, but, like, one of the topics I do want to get into at some point is male infertility, because it's so not talked about.
Ebro
Well, and it needs to be talked about because dudes is out here unhealthy and not checking on their junk and blaming women, always.
Laura
That's the main thing. Cause they're like, you go get checked. You go to.
Rosenberg
Well, that's.
Laura
I had to tell a friend of mine. I was like, has he gotten checked? He's smoking and drinking and eating crazy. I was like, what makes you think you're. You could be the. You could. You could be the one.
Rosenberg
Right.
Laura
But he also could be the one.
Ebro
So this.
Rosenberg
That goes back literally to, like, forever, right? To the 40s, 30s, whatever it is. They've always assumed it's the woman. A man can't have a problem. But male infertility has been steadily on the rise for 20 years. And they don't. They can't, they don't know, don't show, and don't care about why infertility is on the rise. They really don't.
Ebro
It's probably a combo of a lot of. A lot of factors.
Rosenberg
Sedentary lifestyle, weed used cell phone in your pocket, laptop, porn. Who knows? There could be a million things.
Laura
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rosenberg
But one of the things I want to talk about on this podcast is that issue, because I realize so many men go through it and don't talk about it. And not only that, if you haven't been through the experience, you don't know some of the things to ask and do. I got. I at one point thought I was not having kids, was not gonna happen. Then got to a point where, like, it was like, okay, maybe there's a possibility, but, you know, we don't know how much, like, motile sperm is there, but. And then at like my fourth different person over the years, this is now, new wife, new life, back again, trying to get in the saddle again. The doctor was like, have you ever done an extended search? I was like, what's an extended search?
Laura
Extendo.
Rosenberg
And he was like, what's an extendo clip? And he was like, well, you know, when you go to the to get checked out and they tell you you have. They'll say you have 0% motile sperm or basically good sperm. Motile means ability to move. They'll say you have zero percent. He goes, that just means in the droplet that they looked at that it has zero. Then they deduce, because there's zero there, that you have zero. I was like, that. That's the whole system, bro. He's like, yeah, but if you do an extended search, they will look through the entire sample. I was like. He was like, but it's a bit pricey. I was like, oh, oh, that's why. Okay, here we go.
Ebro
Insurance don't cover how much.
Laura
Of course not.
Rosenberg
No, no. I go, how much? He was like, you know, like 800,000 bucks. I was like, I think I'm willing to spend that on this issue.
Laura
You're like, I thought you were gonna hit me with $25,000.
Rosenberg
That's what I assume must be some insane number. No. And so they did it. And guess what? The first time out the gate, they come back, they're like, yeah, we got a bunch we can use. You're good.
Ebro
And for years you had worried about this.
Rosenberg
Not only years. And I never wanted to talk about it. It's the only thing I was truly private about because I could not handle, until I had a child, the idea of the Internet trolls being like, this beta cuck is infertile. I couldn't handle it. And then I was like. But once I get to the point.
Ebro
You attack on your whole manhood, bro.
Rosenberg
People take fertility as. As if it's not first of all. Of course it can be that, like, you have an unhealthy lifestyle.
Ebro
That's right.
Rosenberg
But in the case of many people, it's just luck of the freaking draw. Yeah, it's just.
Ebro
Yeah.
Rosenberg
Did the.
Ebro
The.
Rosenberg
The sperm say it's sperm?
Ebro
That's right.
Rosenberg
You know what I mean? Joe, do you find that trailer? Oh, he's got.
Ebro
Check the trailer. Rosenbergs. Do you have a date for this launch?
Rosenberg
No, but after we show this and I see the excitement from the ELR Me, I'll give one.
Ebro
Okay, but do you have a place for them? Do you want them to go?
Rosenberg
Oh, yes, I do. I. I do. In fact, they will, but it's on the YouTube channel of the name of the show. All right, so after that, they can go subscribe right now. Okay, you need volume two, Ibrahim. Addiction starts early. I mean, really early. As a baby, it can be food that makes you feel better. Then you grow up, and maybe it's a drink, a smoke, a vape. And as life gets harder, the drugs get harder. But for me and more and more people every day, the real addiction is validation. Swiping endlessly on dating apps, texting with strangers, or just opening instagram for the 10th time in an hour, chasing that hit that like, no one is immune. And the Internet, it wants us addicted. So let's talk about it. Because like every addiction, validation will make your life unmanageable. Trust me, I learned the hard way. Way Validate Me a podcast about validation, addiction, and filling the void. Subscribe now on YouTube or wherever you find podcasts.
Ebro
Validate me, right?
Rosenberg
I love the animation Validate me show. Yeah. And there's a Validate Me YouTube channel as well that you could go subscribe to right now. Now, Laura missed the first 15 seconds because her headphones weren't plugged in, which was done it.
Laura
Oh, God.
Ebro
How did I. What do you mean? That means we were sitting here the whole time having a con. Headphones were never on.
Laura
You moved your foot. And that's when I was like, wait, how come I don't hear anything?
Ebro
Let me tell you something about Laura. We don't trust it.
Rosenberg
Well, you Know, you know, we don't believe that.
Ebro
No, nobody in here believes that. G actually just unplugged those headphones.
Laura
How do you think I was listening to you before?
Ebro
You were just sitting next to me. You thought it was the microphone.
Rosenberg
Validate me show on YouTube though, if you want to hit the sub. So if you want to subscribe to the podcast, that's going to be what it kind of focuses on is, you know, I call it validation addiction because I believe the phrase sex addiction is inaccurate and really does nobody any favors brand wise. Like, I don't think anybody wants what the whole walking around being like, yeah, I'm a sex addict is I don't think goes great.
Ebro
But on and it's not realistic. So today we drop a new Patreon.
Rosenberg
Yeah, sure we do.
Ebro
And we talk about on the Patreon. I believe this was on the Patreon this week. Love from our parents. And you were talking about Mindy and, and, and hugging and this sort of thing. And you mentioned that maybe that's where your desire to get validated comes from.
Rosenberg
Oh, yes, I did, I did. I forgot. I was like, where are you going? Yeah, yeah, I did, I did.
Ebro
So while, while, yes, we point to these other things, there might be an origin story for a lot of people that is before social media, before the oh, oh, yeah. This is. That's kind of hardwired into who you are as a person. Maybe even why you want to be on a microphone. Maybe even why you want to perform for a living.
Rosenberg
Oh, 100%. It's all built in there. The behavior is the symptom of the problem. Right. What is the problem? Like sex addict. That's why I hate the phrase sex addict. Because sex addict people drop like, yo, my man, I'm a sex addict too.
Ebro
You know what I'm saying?
Rosenberg
I'm out here, gotta slay everything. And it's like, no, my guy. That's not every guy we know. Generally not every guy. Most guys want to pursue women. I understand that, but this is about something else. This is about craving another person to make you feel whole. And then when it's like very often, but when it's your partner, that partner is no longer enough. You need to seek other people to make you feel good and regularly. All the time. All the time. And that's again, why the phrase sex addiction to me doesn't work. Because it's not about having sex. For me, the issue is not I need to have sex with a million people. It was I need to feel good From a million people.
Ebro
I need to know I could have sex with a million people if I wanted to. Because I want to feel dope. I want to feel hot, I want to feel fly. I want to feel whatever that feeling is, even though I don't actually want to do the work because I'm lazy. I'd rather just go to sleep.
Rosenberg
Yeah. If that part. Well, no, it wasn't the laziness. It wasn't the laziness for me. It was the plausible deniability that if I go do that, that's too much. But I could draw a line, which, by the way, is crazy addict talk. Right. That's the same as gambling. Now we're into gambling addiction. I'm never going to do blank or
Ebro
no, even alcohol where people like, I can stop whenever.
Rosenberg
Yeah, I don't drink. I don't drink on weekdays, though.
Laura
I heard alcoholics say, ah, stop drinking. I'll have a beer every now and then. But that's nothing. That doesn't count. What?
Rosenberg
Well, it's. I mean, alcohol is so complicated though, too.
Laura
No, there's alcohol in beer.
Rosenberg
Yes, but you can be like a. Later in. I do believe that they're changing. Some people are changing the idea of what alcohol recovery looks like and that there could be people that depending on your kind of addiction, maybe there's a stage in your life where you could have some level of relationship with alcohol. Because not everyone's version of whatever your addiction is, not every version is the same. I had a. I had a dear friend who is no longer with us, who I met in program based on all these problems. Sex addiction, validation addiction. Now he was a real sex addict. For real. I was in meetings. I was a bore. I was like, compared to everybody, bro. They were like, now. No, not for the. For the first few months, I was fun because I was weeping through the whole meeting. So I think people were like, oh, here comes crying guy. Let's get this stories cracking crying guy. But then once I was like, okay, I'm pretty boring, my man. I won't say his name because that's totally against what the idea of it is. But my man, who's no longer with us. Yo, man. My man's stories were wild. And as he got into recovery, he still would occasionally have wired stories, wild stories. But they were inside what he believed were a healthy, sober lifestyle for him. You know what I mean? It's not your plan. And program isn't necessarily always gonna be. I just don't do anything like this. It's about Your life becoming unmanageable. You know what I mean? So you may not be having sex with anyone, and you may not even be sexting with anyone. You may not be talking to people. Your validation addiction could be scrolling.
Ebro
Yeah, it could just come from like, comment section, right?
Rosenberg
It could be comment section. It could be, you know, searching Google News. If you're a public person who's like, I gotta see if anyone's talking about me. Right? There's so many different things that it can be.
Ebro
Validate me. New podcast.
Laura
People dismiss sex addiction. Sex addiction. They just. That's why that ain't real.
Rosenberg
Because the name is trash. I'm telling you, they came up with a name that makes people A, judge you, and B, like, A, make you think you're a pervert. You sound like a creep. And B, it's not even accurate, bro.
Laura
And it can happen to anybody.
Ebro
So now is it true you could be a sex addict?
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro
You're only having sex with your partner, but the way your partner has to be there for you and please you, and you are not interested in what, but they're feeling like you're just like, I need sex for sure. So I. I've heard that's a thing too. And people are like, that's not a thing. You're in a relationship. And I'm like, well, but if your partner's not right, enjoying this, doesn't want to do certain things, and you're like dangling the relationship over it or acting as if you're gonna leave because they won't or whatever. For sure.
Rosenberg
It's not just cheating. Right?
Laura
Right, right, right.
Ebro
And I'm just adding that into this whole kind of, you know, you could
Rosenberg
be not having sex at all and be a sex addict. There's so many different levels to what it could mean. That's why I think the name is not quality, let me tell you.
Laura
So one of my best girlfriends moved to la. And, you know, rent's expensive and she's a up and coming actress, you know, so she had. She has to get a roommate. Yo, you guys. She told me that her new roommate was addicted to Grindr. Grindr? Yes.
Ebro
You mean Grindr, like people just popping up and having sex and.
Laura
What's the other one?
Rosenberg
Tinder?
Laura
Yes, and Tinder. Both health. She. She said her new room every night, a new person in the house.
Ebro
Oh, yeah.
Laura
Every night.
Ebro
Well, yeah.
Rosenberg
Well, you gotta go because I can't.
Ebro
You can say you're addicted to Grindr and whatever. No, you're a sex addict and you're a yo.
Laura
That's crazy. She was like, every night a different person sometimes, too.
Rosenberg
Guys, I got news for you, but
Ebro
slutting, Yo, People have their slutty phase, man.
Laura
That's not normal.
Ebro
What? To have a slutty phase?
Rosenberg
No. Every day. Every day, every night, every day.
Ebro
I'm not saying it's normal. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that people have phases.
Rosenberg
But I'll just say this. I am lucky that I was not ever single in the era of apps,
Ebro
because you the one off deep end, bro.
Rosenberg
I was meeting people. I was meeting people online when that wasn't a thing. Like when I was 18, ASL, I was ASL. So, like, chat rooms, yo, you name it, I found it. I. Bro, come on. It was. It was built in my DNA so early. If I'd gotten to the point. And not only that, my real life game was mediocre. My chat game, it's an acquired skill. It's a manipulative acquired skill where you can learn how to talk to people in a way that kind of makes them come back for more. Right? If I've been on the apps in the era multiple times, there are people just walking in from one date to another.
Laura
Yeah.
Rosenberg
They got a 6, they got an 8, they got a 10.
Ebro
This is 6 to 8 to 10. What do you mean?
Rosenberg
Three different dates?
Ebro
Oh, you mean time?
Rosenberg
Yes. 6p coffee, 8p, dinner, 10p drinks, all lined up every night.
Ebro
But is that. But if they're not hitting it, that's just dating, right?
Rosenberg
Is it? Or. Or do they have a problem? They can't stop doing it. It's every day. And they're spending money and they're tired at work the next day, and their life has become unmanageable every day.
Ebro
I forgot the everyday part. Yeah, y' all make more.
Rosenberg
No, it'd never be you.
Ebro
Y' all make. I was just your regular run of the mill. Can I hit that guy?
Laura
Wait, wait, wait. Because you' these streets. Did you ever go on the AOL chat rooms?
Ebro
No, I never did that.
Rosenberg
Did Ebro do that?
Ebro
I just wondering if I wasn't even on MySpace.
Rosenberg
Nah, come on, bro.
Ebro
And then. And then I was mad that everybody thought Facebook was different than MySpace. That was like a whole year for me. Everybody was like, yo, you got to get on Facebook. I was like, isn't the same as MySpace? No, it's different. It's only for students and you have a different email. I was like, same thing.
Rosenberg
Yo, Ibro, I love that Ebro's always been old. Even though his take is correct, it's still such an old man take. Isn't that the same thing?
Ebro
It's the same thing.
Rosenberg
But you were right. But. But it's. But this is why I want.
Ebro
But I was also remind you, I was in clubs every night. No, that's so. No, but I'm not. I'm saying. But sex addiction. Similar, right?
Rosenberg
Yeah, but you were a normal. You were actually a healthy version. No, you.
Ebro
No. I don't know.
Rosenberg
You had ability to do well and you were outside and single.
Ebro
That's. That's fine.
Rosenberg
Yeah, that's normal.
Ebro
Yes, mostly. But it was. I was outside, outside.
Rosenberg
But any guy. Bro, you were. You were a person of note from very young. You're outside in the club, cool guy hosting, like, it's a lot of good stuff.
Ebro
And the thing that actually saved me, I think from being too crazy was the fear of getting robbed.
Rosenberg
You had fear of everything. Fear of aids, fear of getting robbed.
Ebro
Well, people was getting AIDS and getting robbed. I didn't want to be one of them.
Rosenberg
No judgment. I think these are great fears to have. But that'll keep you. Here's the thing though. When you're an addict, those fears don't matter.
Ebro
You think you could beat it, it's
Rosenberg
not going to happen. Or you're willing to take the risk. And then the next day you're going, I'm never doing that again. Here's the. I will say this and not that. This was not meant to be a preview of Validate me. Because we'll get into it one day when I start this soon. But if you get to the point with anything where you go, nah, I'm not going to do it like this anymore. I can't. It's hovering over my head. I feel guilty. I'm never doing this again. I'm not doing it again. And then within a couple of days, you find yourself doing it again. That's a problem. That's a problem. You know what I'm saying?
Ebro
Yes.
Rosenberg
I don't think what you were doing, you were like, oh, man, I don't want to hook up with another hot chick at the club again. I feel terrible about that. Never cry. You were like, that was pretty good. I wonder if it'll happen again.
Ebro
Maybe, maybe not. Maybe I meet somebody new. We don't know.
Rosenberg
But this is. This is all gonna get so much worse because now we're of the age these kids are.
Ebro
I don't know. I'm hearing it's the other way. I'm. They're saying studies are the other way.
Rosenberg
Studies.
Ebro
They said.
Rosenberg
They said kids aren't having sex.
Ebro
Kids are having less sex and using less social media. Media and not drinking and. Well, but that's. So that's the. The kids not drinking thing. They're saying, but they are doing pills and they are doing these other things. However, there is a trend of these kind of like. What do they call them? Like, health parties where people are gathering, listening to music. It's early in the day and they're like yoga parties or like, you know, I don't know, listening to music and like, you know, what's the other thing that people do?
Rosenberg
Meditating.
Ebro
Meditate.
Rosenberg
Nah, swear I was joking.
Ebro
Meditate, listen to music, have a good meal, and that's the social gathering for the day.
Rosenberg
Where is this happening?
Ebro
I mean, I just read an article about it.
Rosenberg
Never been.
Ebro
Never been.
Laura
I know. I know because I'm around 16 to 20, like three year olds. They don't go out. I'm like, you don't. I don't go out to parties. No, it's too expensive. We can't afford it. You don't drink.
Rosenberg
Parties are too expensive.
Laura
They're like, no one has house. So I mean, I meant like more like clubs. Excuse me, Club clubs. Next to expensive.
Rosenberg
In New York, it is harder to have house parties.
Laura
They're. They're like, a drink is $20. I'm like, you're correct. I have home. To get home safe is 50, $60.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Laura
They just can't afford it.
Ebro
True.
Rosenberg
You're out of the gate, yo. Isn't that crazy?
Ebro
Out of the gate.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro
A night out in town's 80, 100, 120.
Rosenberg
That's if you have one drink, because that's dinner. Cab. No, but how you're done. Because it's 50 to go anywhere. If you're going from the boroughs, you
Ebro
want to go to the city with your friends. Now you get to train. But the train girls like you don't love it. They don't love it. Listen, ladies and gentlemen, this is a great Talk. We spent 28 minutes on your new podcast. Well.
Rosenberg
And also turned into something else.
Laura
Yeah.
Ebro
You know what I'm saying? But if you want more like this, subscribe to the Patreon, the ELR show on Patreon. New Patreon dropping today. You guys want a Mom Donnie update?
Laura
What's up? Yes.
Rosenberg
Who's Mom Donnie?
Ebro

Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro
This is just Stuff that pops up. I'm gonna start doing a new segment periodically to break up the monotony of our combo.
Rosenberg
This is different than Ishiro Set.
Ebro
Same thing, but I couldn' say ish. Ebro scent was.
Rosenberg
Oh, you're changing the name?
Ebro
Yeah, its algorithm feels more.
Rosenberg
How about Ebro's Algo?
Ebro
Ebro's Algo. Love it.
Laura
Okay, Mom.
Ebro

Zoron. Zo.
Ebro
Zoron. Is that.
Rosenberg
You have a number for him?
Ebro
10. Joe. 10.
Rosenberg
Oh, 10.
Ebro
There you go. Day 69 of the Mumdani administration. Here's what changed in the last 24 hours. FALSE Spring arrived. The Mandani administration got one step closer to seizing property from criminal landlords. The Safer Homes Act, a bill from council member Sanchez, had a hearing at the city council council. It would let the city take entire buildings from landlords with piled up violations and unpaid taxes. Responsible owners.
Laura
This is a pathway towards stabilization and responsible ownership, including community and resident ownership.
Rosenberg
And the city council just decriminalized street vending in New York City, which means
Ebro
street vendors will no longer face arrest,
Rosenberg
jail time, or criminal prosecution or conviction simply for selling food to support their families.
Ebro
This is a big move, even though two of them just moving into a guy. Street vendors. The mayor just expanded free child care again.
Rosenberg
We're adding more than 1,000 seats to 3K programs in 56 different zip codes across the five boroughs.
Ebro
That's on top of the 2,000 new spots announced last week. And council member nurses introducing a bill to nearly double the city's minimum wage from 17 to $30 an hour. And the Department of transport announced a full redesign of 14th street with safer crossings, bike infrastructure, and new plazas stretching the entire width of man. That's progressive. Change in the city isn't just coming from one office. Not bad for 24 hours. Oh, yeah. Did you guys see the dolphin?
Rosenberg
Yeah, I saw the dolphins. Yeah.
Ebro
Dolphin was cute on some. On a springish day.
Rosenberg
Yeah, the dolphins was. People were very excited about the dolphins every year.
Ebro
Every year I feel like there's a. Wasn't there a dolphin like up. Up in Bronx. Bronx river last year or something?
Laura
I'm like, get out of here. It's dirty.
Ebro
Nah, that's the whole story, though, Laura. They cleaned them up.
Rosenberg
The. The one that was in the. In the Bronx.
Ebro
Yeah, that. No. Well, they've cleaned up the Bronx River a little.
Rosenberg
Oh. And as a result story.
Ebro
And then the dolphins in these wildlife.
Rosenberg
The dolphins. The dolphins name Lord was Belcher.
Ebro
Why'd you name the dolphin after Cardi B?
Rosenberg
No, just. Just picking a Dominican name.
Laura
Yo, he sent me this like, I. This IG video of like crazy Dominican.
Rosenberg
It's the best. It's the best. It's so real. It's so real.
Ebro
You Francis.
Rosenberg
The one I did not believe, though, was Disney World.
Laura
Yeah.
Rosenberg
No, I did not believe Disney World is the name. I don't believe it.
Ebro
That goes back to the end thing. Usnavi.
Rosenberg
Usnavi, the real thing. That's real, though.
Ebro
Usnavi is real. I thought it was just a bit for the play. Nobody. Does anybody actually know us? Navi.
Rosenberg
There. There are names. There are real names in the video I sent that were real. That are Usnavi and Jace, but U.S. navy, Usavi. Oh, I didn't even think.
Laura
It's too ridiculous. Nothing.
Rosenberg
Nothing crazy.
Laura
Just know that.
Ebro
Laura, you ready for the rundown?
Rosenberg
Yeah. Yes.
Laura
Let's go.
Ebro
Laura got the run down.
Rosenberg
Turn that up.
Ebro
Screens on glow when she pull up headlines heavy. But we still caught I still flashing.
Rosenberg
We don't slow.
Laura
All right, now Forbes release, it's updated the richest people in the world less. And Dr. Dre made the cut for the first time. Yo, one billion. That's a lot of money. I don't think people. People throw the billion word around. They don't realize I'm a lot of money.
Ebro
I'm numb because Elon Musk is at 870 billion nabro.
Rosenberg
He's on his way to a trillion. It's so crazy.
Ebro
Well, and it's. He, Elon Musk is the richest man Forbes has ever reported on officially.
Rosenberg
So. So he's the richest man of all time.
Ebro
Well, other than Mansa Musa, but that's a different time.
Rosenberg
Matsamuta Masamusa, who was Matamousa again, he
Ebro
was the head of the Mali empire in Africa.
Rosenberg
Got it.
Ebro
They say he was the richest man ever lived.
Rosenberg
I mean, listen, nearly A trillion dollars is great. Respect to Mata Musa.
Ebro
It's Mansa Musa. You got to do the knowledge.
Rosenberg
Respect to Mansa Musa. Is this related to Matzah Pizza?
Ebro
No, it's Mansa. Mansa.
Rosenberg
Mansa Musa. Musa shouts to Mansa Musa.
Ebro
Yes.
Rosenberg
I don't know if he cares for the shout out on ELR, but I don't know if he got to 870 billion, bro.
Ebro
Yeah, they said his. I mean, they have said he had
Rosenberg
like the whole world.
Ebro
Well, yeah, like the whole gold of the Bali Empire, West Africa, and then, like did a pilgrimage, so he might
Rosenberg
have had more time and literally gave
Ebro
away so much gold, it like enriched all of North Africa.
Rosenberg
Well, another way, very different. Another way that is not like Elon Musk.
Laura
Yes, very different.
Rosenberg
Right, But Elon Musk is African, so we have that going for.
Ebro
Wow.
Laura
Okay, don't ruin the joke. I don't know if you guys peeped this, but Live Nation reached a tentative settlement with the Department of Justice. So remember, they were trying to break it up, break up the whole monopoly, Live Nation, Ticketmaster. Yeah, yeah, that ain't happening.
Ebro
Well, yeah, because Trump got in the way. Right, I heard.
Laura
Yep. So the original lawsuit was filed in 2024 under the Biden administration. And then, of course, it proceeded after Trump took office. Now, the Trump administration opted for behavioral changes. I was like, what is that? So basically, it's just having Ticketmaster open up, you know, ticketing platforms to its rivals. That's it. So other people can sell tickets, too, in a way.
Ebro
So in a way that's saying, hey, we've broken up the monopoly because you have to allow competition. But really?
Laura
Yeah, not really all those crazy. Because the big argument was also all those crazy fees. Remember, that was a big thing.
Rosenberg
Well, I think that was the biggest thing. People were fighting.
Laura
Yes. Well, yeah, all of that's going to stay the same.
Rosenberg
But that was the important part.
Ebro
Yeah, but I read somewhere that two hundred and something million dollars is going back to states that sued. So some states want some money and there's other states that aren't going with this agreement. They have lawsuits that are going to continue.
Laura
Like New York is one of them. They're going to continue.
Rosenberg
So what's the short of it for the people?
Ebro
The short of it for the people is Ticketmaster is going to keep doing what they was doing.
Rosenberg
Nothing should.
Ebro
And you got choice. And you can go to other places to buy tickets.
Rosenberg
But you can go to other places to buy tickets.
Ebro
Yes.
Rosenberg
Okay. So that's something.
Ebro
Something I get But I don't think that's what people were gunning for.
Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro
And I think the real headline came out is. Was because it was getting buried, because there's other news going on that people are just not covering this a lot, you know, like a war.
Rosenberg
Sure.
Ebro
Epstein Files.
Laura
Yeah, yeah. Oh, that's what they're trying to.
Ebro
Things like that not to talk about.
Rosenberg
But.
Laura
Okay. So yesterday, this is just fun. I saw Variety did a whole, like, Oscars prediction. Right. So they were talking about all, you know, obviously all the big movies. Frankenstein, Marty Supreme. One battle after Another. The Secret Agent. So this is who they think will win. Could win. Should win. All right.
Rosenberg
Who they would think should win. Could win.
Laura
Will win.
Rosenberg
Will win.
Laura
And should have been nominated. I'm curious to see what you guys think. They think will win. Sinners. Best Picture.
Rosenberg
They think Sinners will win Best Picture.
Laura
Yes. Could win One battle after another.
Rosenberg
Okay.
Laura
All right. Should win. The Secret Agent.
Rosenberg
The Secret Agent. I don't even know the Secret Agent.
Ebro
I didn't see it.
Laura
And should have been nominated. Was the voice of Henry Job.
Rosenberg
Oh, nice. Should have been nominated, but wasn't nominated.
Ebro
But wasn't. I thought that when the voice of Henry Job was a documentary you covered on the program.
Laura
Yes, yes.
Ebro
Spike Lee was a producer on that. Right.
Laura
I recently found out.
Ebro
And that one is controversial, obviously, because it's giving voice to the Palestinian strike. Correct.
Rosenberg
But. But it has a lot of big Hollywood weight behind it, too.
Ebro
Yes, but still wasn't nominated. Not enough.
Rosenberg
Well, how.
Laura
Brad Pitt was involved in it too.
Rosenberg
I think it was Brad Pitt's production company. Yeah. Yeah. So a bunch. A bunch of big people put their names on it. That's right. But setting myself up to just get screamed down as Zionist Jew boy. But how often do documentaries get up for Best Picture?
Laura
It's not a.
Rosenberg
It's not a doc.
Laura
I don't know. It's not really considered a doc. Is it.
Rosenberg
Is it a film? Is it acted? Or is it a. Is it.
Ebro
It's a doc.
Laura
Reenacted, I guess.
Ebro
There's reenactment.
Rosenberg
It's reenactments.
Laura
Yeah. Little parts.
Rosenberg
But it's a. But it's a doc.
Ebro
No, it's more of a doc.
Rosenberg
It's not a. You're not following. An acted film.
Ebro
It's not a scripted film.
Rosenberg
No, no.
Laura
Okay.
Ebro
That's the word.
Rosenberg
I'm just saying. I mean, listen, and this is.
Ebro
Should have been nominated for Best Picture.
Laura
Yeah.
Rosenberg
You're saying Best Picture.
Ebro
That's tough.
Rosenberg
That's. That's what I'm saying.
Ebro
That's tough.
Rosenberg
You can easily make the argument it wouldn't be because of all the reasons that it wouldn't be. But also, movies like that don't generally get nominated for Best Picture.
Ebro
Just saying.
Rosenberg
I mean, let's look for the last one. They nominate some weird things.
Ebro
But we could also just throw our hands up and be like, you know what? I like the narrative that y' all didn't nominated because y' all hating. Well, but that's right. That's right. Oscars, y' all scared.
Rosenberg
But is it nominated for best Documentary?
Laura
I'm. I feel like I saw that it was check.
Ebro
So it's nominated for something.
Laura
Yeah.
Ebro
Just not Best Picture.
Laura
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I. I don't know. The Secret Age agent.
Ebro
Never. Never. I don't even think I've heard of it. I like what they got on Sinners though. Let's see if it happens this Sunday.
Rosenberg
Best Picture, Sinners. Guys, it was, it was.
Laura
Griff is like, no, it's a fun.
Rosenberg
It's a fun movie. Yeah. Michael B. Jordan, Best Actor. I'm in.
Ebro
Okay.
Rosenberg
Best Picture.
Ebro
Well, I guess I'm just thinking about what's better that you like this year.
Rosenberg
I liked One Battle Battle after Another better.
Ebro
Okay.
Rosenberg
For sure.
Laura
I didn't see it, so I don't.
Rosenberg
What else is on the.
Ebro
I like One Battle after another. But it wasn't. It didn't do it for me like Sinners did.
Rosenberg
Sinners didn't do it for you like Sinners did?
Ebro
Well, I'm just comparing those two.
Rosenberg
You like Sinners better than that?
Ebro
Yeah. Personally, I did.
Rosenberg
Really?
Ebro
Yeah, I enjoyed Sinners a lot.
Laura
I really like Sinners too.
Ebro
But I. And I liked One Battle after another. Not saying I didn't like that either.
Rosenberg
I take a lot of risks to make black people get mad at me in the chat. Sinners was average, guys. It was not. It was not Ryan's best movie. That it was. It was cool. The beginning was fire. I was on the way to it being epic. And then the vampires came and I was like, I didn't need the van. This. I just didn't need a half ass vampire.
Ebro
When I felt the same way about one battle after another at a certain
Rosenberg
point about which part of it just went too long, where it was going, all of that. I do agree that as it went,
Ebro
driving down the road in the cars and this whole thing and he's on the side of the road, that that
Rosenberg
is to me what prevented it from being. Oh my God. The Best thing I've ever seen. Because the first hour and change.
Ebro
Fight.
Rosenberg
I was.
Ebro
I felt the same way about Sinners. That's why I'm just comparing what's.
Rosenberg
No, no, I'm. I'm with you. I actually think it's a fair. I don't think I'd put either as my best picture.
Ebro
What else are we saying this year?
Rosenberg
Well, Laura, give me the list really quickly.
Laura
The voice of Henry Ja was nominated for best international feature Film. Not doc.
Rosenberg
Best international feature film. And let's see if it wins.
Laura
Yeah, let's see.
Rosenberg
Because that will lead to. And will they put it on the show? Show.
Ebro
Oh, will you see if you scared
Laura
or not, man, Listen to the audience go. If you can watch it. It is so powerful. I was sobbing watching that.
Rosenberg
So here. Here's what's. Here's what's fully up
Ebro
this. Best Picture Oscars this Sunday.
Rosenberg
Yeah, this Sunday.
Ebro
The Secret Agent, which we none of us are familiar with.
Rosenberg
Begonia Fire.
Ebro
You love Bonia. I didn't watch. Great.
Rosenberg
Do I think it was. Do I like it, like, much better?
Ebro
Is it better than.
Rosenberg
It's in the same realm of. I really liked it because to be clear, I'm trolling people just to troll. I really liked Sinners. I just didn't think it was the best movie I've ever seen.
Laura
Okay.
Ebro
You're also thinking of the best movies you've ever seen. We're talking about the Oscar.
Rosenberg
But this year, Marty Supreme. Didn't see it, but heard it.
Ebro
I saw it. It was good. I like Marty Supreme.
Laura
You did Sinners?
Ebro
No.
Laura
Okay.
Rosenberg
I heard Marty Spring was in.
Ebro
I like Marty Supreme.
Rosenberg
You really like this?
Ebro
Yeah, I really enjoyed it. I had fun. I went to the premiere. It was fun. It was cool. I got the little orange golf ball.
Rosenberg
But he went. But he. He was all, you know, Marty supreme doubt. You know what I mean?
Ebro
What do you mean?
Rosenberg
You were at the hospital?
Ebro
I sat in a room by myself with a bunch of students. It's not like I was hanging out with Timothy Chalamet and Tyler, the creator.
Rosenberg
That's what I thought.
Ebro
I sat by myself in a room.
Rosenberg
You actually got a really good, honest viewing.
Ebro
Yeah, I was just sitting there with a bunch of kids.
Laura
All right.
Ebro
I was like, this is the seat y' all gave me. Matter of fact, I need to bring this up. I think they actually. The celebs were, like, in theater, and they just put me in a seat in a room with a bunch of people. I was like, with students.
Rosenberg
With students.
Ebro
Because Tyler and Them did walk in and present it. And then they left and probably went to another theater or.
Rosenberg
Or didn't watch the movie.
Ebro
I think they went down the hall to another theater. You think there was a dead.
Rosenberg
Was it the day of the big premiere? Yes.
Ebro
It was like the premiere.
Rosenberg
Hold on. The. The real red carpet premiere was also there?
Ebro
Yes.
Rosenberg
And they put you in the loser theater.
Ebro
Why you. I had to frame it like. That was with students, man.
Rosenberg
It was students. What was Tyler there?
Ebro
He didn't sit in that room.
Rosenberg
What about Timmy?
Ebro
They left.
Rosenberg
So.
Ebro
Yeah.
Rosenberg
You weren't in the A room?
Ebro
No.
Rosenberg
You got disrespect.
Ebro
I was in the B room.
Rosenberg
Super Bowl E, Bro.
Ebro
This is crazy.
Rosenberg
They don't. They ever seen the super bowl half. So you got Marty supreme here. Here's one that I have heard from basically everyone is incredible and has the big feel of Best Picture. And I know it's real because when I saw the trailer for it, it looked so boring I almost fell asleep. But I hear it's amazing. Is Train Dreams.
Ebro
Never heard of it.
Rosenberg
It's about. It's about the west and Native Americans and like it's supposed to be some really deep, amazing movie. Very best Picture.
Ebro
Don't sound more John Blaze than Sinners. Let's go Google.
Rosenberg
They hating F1.
Ebro
I like F1 a lot.
Rosenberg
Here we go. Here comes Apple Boy. Here comes Apple boy.
Ebro
I like F1 a lot.
Rosenberg
Best Picture type picture's tough. It feels crazy.
Ebro
Right up against sinners and all right,
Rosenberg
here's the next one that I heard is amazing and didn't see it yet.
Ebro
Wait, did you guys see F1?
Rosenberg
No.
Ebro
Know you'll really enjoy FY.
Rosenberg
I'm going to watch it. I'm definitely going to watch it. It's just like, you know, I love my. I love Damson indras. So I am interested.
Ebro
That's why
Rosenberg
Frankenstein supposed to be phenomenal.
Laura
I heard it. I heard that. It's really.
Rosenberg
How did you. De los Muertos not go see Guillermo Dia dero.
Ebro
Did not go see it.
Rosenberg
Did not go see Guillermo del Toro. I know. In Frankenstein. Hit it with the button.
Ebro
Congratulations. You played yourself.
Rosenberg
Now then there's. Then there's hamnet. Net, which is supposed to be amazing.
Ebro
Wait, how many pictures get in?
Rosenberg
They do 10 now. It's too far.
Ebro
Too much. I'm done.
Rosenberg
Sinners wins one battle after another.
Ebro
Now, how long they been having 10 movies in it?
Rosenberg
Like 10 years at least.
Ebro
Okay. I was gonna say they added more movies to try to take.
Rosenberg
No sentimental value is the last one. I haven't heard of that one either.
Ebro
But look, it's either. It's either F1 one day after another or that's it.
Rosenberg
The ones you've seen.
Ebro
That's it.
Rosenberg
Now Hamnet is supposed to be brutal,
Laura
but what is it about?
Rosenberg
It's about a baby dying. Like a child dying and the parents recovery.
Laura
Watch that. Can't watch that.
Ebro
Where's my. Out of here.
Rosenberg
That doesn't mean it's not great though.
Ebro
No, it could be great. I'm not saying not watching it.
Rosenberg
Neither have I.
Laura
So I can't take it.
Rosenberg
But that's what's up this Sunday. I don't. You know what? It's not a bad list of films though, compared to other years. There are years, guys recently, where we've been like, oh, we saw one, right? And they were sending us the DVDs and we still only saw one.
Laura
I know.
Rosenberg
So this is a pretty good year.
Ebro
DVDs.
Rosenberg
Is Marty supreme. Really Best picture material? The ping pong man.
Ebro
It's not about the ping pong thing is a. It's not really that.
Rosenberg
It's not that.
Ebro
It's not that. It's really about a New York kid who comes from, you know, just. Just hustling, trying to figure it out. Kid.
Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro
And. And he. And he's finessing this ping pong thing.
Rosenberg
Got it.
Ebro
And that's really what a fun movie. But. And it. But it's also really a. I think it's also kind of about addiction and validation and like pushing the limits and like not knowing when to quit. And this guy, he's. Marty's a disaster now that I think about it.
Rosenberg
Got it.
Ebro
It's not like a.
Rosenberg
Woo.
Ebro
He run a ping pong tournament. No, not what going on.
Rosenberg
He's a mess. No, I got to watch it. I think it's. I think that's now out to be seen. So I want. I do want to see a few of these. Maybe I'll try to see a couple more before Sunday.
Ebro
Speaking of Timothy Chalamet.
Rosenberg
Chill, chill.
Ebro
Are you guys following this latest debacle of sorts, the opera ballet?
Rosenberg
I'm seeing. I'm seeing that this is a big thing. That he's getting roasted for being anti opera.
Ebro
I don't. So I've only. I only saw Doja Cat saying something.
Rosenberg
That was it. That's all you saw.
Ebro
I heard Misty Copeland came out with some.
Rosenberg
It was. And it was people before that too. It's been like a week now. We're. Can I.
Ebro
Can I Actually, see what started it all. The actual Timothy Chalamet clip. Have you seen it? Do you even know what he said?
Rosenberg
I have read what he said, so I'd like to see it.
Ebro
Let's, let's. Let's have a look.
Rosenberg
And I don't want to be working
Ebro
in ballet or opera or, you know,
Rosenberg
things where it's like, hey, keep this thing alive. Even though no one cares about this anymore.
Ebro
All respect to the ballet and opera people. No, you can't. I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I just took shots for no reason.
Rosenberg
That's not a shot. I hear what you're saying.
Ebro
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So. Keeps going.
Laura
By the way, I think they were also cooking him. Cuz his mom is a. Was a ballerina.
Rosenberg
Oh, well, that might be why he feels like he has more insight in it and that. That it felt like. It didn't feel like it was.
Laura
No, his mom was a former ballerina.
Rosenberg
Yo, this is.
Ebro
Well, why didn't. Why didn't they come for McConaughey? He was.
Rosenberg
What you mean? Cuz Mahe was just having a conversation with someone and going, no, I hear what you're saying.
Ebro
And. Well, no, he was like, you're not taking a shot. I hear what you're saying.
Rosenberg
But. But, but that's because. What? McConaughey. Oh, I don't know why they didn't come from McConaughey.
Ebro
Because McConaughey could have been like, yeah, that was unnecessary.
Rosenberg
But it wasn't. That's. This is being. I mean, listen, they're sensitive.
Ebro
Ballet and opera. Hang on. Yo, ballet and opera. Hive. I want to see y'. All Come for Rosenberg. Here we go.
Rosenberg
I don't agree with what he said exactly.
Ebro
Okay.
Rosenberg
I am down to get sensitive about defending a group of people who, because of their. The color of their skin, religion or sexual orientation, disability, whatever the thing is that defines them. I am down to be sensitive and defend anything. Loosey goosey, me getting butt hurt because someone said they think an industry is dead or they think an art form isn't popping like that. You may say you're an idiot. That's totally not true. Being offended by it. No, I don't. I can't be offended by it. It's offended. People are offended.
Ebro
Well, I think the thing that hit me, and by the way, I thought it sounded wrong, by the way, I just saw that for time. The first. First time.
Rosenberg
Yeah.
Ebro
The thing that struck me about the whole conversation was like, he. First of all, Issa does ballet.
Rosenberg
Okay?
Ebro
It ain't free. And the people who go very far in ballet, most of the time, not all the time. Most of the time, their parents have the time to help them go far in that, which means they have the means.
Rosenberg
Sure.
Ebro
It's to do it. It's.
Rosenberg
They both are things of means.
Ebro
Opera also. It's not.
Rosenberg
But what was the rest of the conversation? This is where. This is where we.
Ebro
Chalamet was just talking about himself and,
Rosenberg
like, why he wants to be an act. Is it, like, is it about I want to just be in mainstream movies? Is that what he's comparing it to?
Ebro
That's what. That's what I took from it.
Rosenberg
See, that's the thing.
Laura
We don't only saw the clip because
Rosenberg
even that, we still didn't see the overall context. What I think is funny about the clip is he knows he's big enough that he's like. As he's doing it, he knows this might be bad, and he's still kind of being silly. So then I don't think he's being that. I don't think he's being that serious.
Ebro
Well, then the View jumped in. Clip 12.
Rosenberg
Oh, the view's in.
Ebro
The view is in.
Rosenberg
Which one was it? Was it neocon or libtard? And now he's facing new criticism over his take on the arts during a town hall discussion with Matthew McConaughey.
Laura
Well, so his grandmother, mother, and sister all danced in the New York City Ballet. This seems like a family issue,
Rosenberg
but
Laura
I also feel like this is a good example of where people are so American culture centric. Like, these are international art forms. Like, ballet is everywhere. And it's not only not declining, it is huge in other places where the access is even better. So I find it an interesting that maybe he came from a place of not knowing that. Well, ballet is art. He did go to LaGuardia High School. Ballet is an art form, and it's very popular here, too. And as a member of the Dance Theater of Harlem, a classically ballet black troupe, I'm offended and disappointed in what he said. I didn't realize that he was that vapid and that shy.
Rosenberg
Well, you know, I think it's more
Ebro
about him being young and you sitting with Matthew McConaughey and y' all Kiki
Laura
Kiing, and it's all right, all right, all right.
Ebro
You're right.
Rosenberg
So I think he thought he could say that first.
Ebro
He just made the good ping pong movie.
Rosenberg
So, you know, he's a young, handsome man. I like this person who's this one.
Ebro
You don't know Cheryl Underwood.
Rosenberg
Oh, Cheryl Underwood. She's a regular on the View.
Ebro
I mean, clearly not. If he was playing him in a
Rosenberg
movie, he would respect the art form
Ebro
a little bit better. And that goes to show. Show. A lot of young people need to understand. Don't just flip off and say something.
Rosenberg
Really understand that your words have meaning.
Ebro
People flip off and say stuff all the time. Including you, Cheryl Underwood. You're a comedian and a staunch Republican. I wonder if she's still a star.
Rosenberg
Underwood. She was, as you can see. I don't know that much about her as I didn't recognize her, but I thought her original take was good. I didn't know that. Yeah, I don't know. My View.
Ebro
White lady up there shucking her shoulders. When Cheryl Underwood was talking about.
Rosenberg
No, when she went, all right, all right, all right. That's a Matthew McConaughey bit.
Ebro
Oh, God. I was more offended by that. Yeah. No.
Rosenberg
What?
Ebro
No, I can't date no young, handsome. You can date anybody you want. You know, I have no problem with
Rosenberg
it, but you come from a dance
Laura
family, and so this is the longest
Ebro
clip we've ever played.
Laura
Thank you.
Ebro
Yo, y' all be cutting clips up Nice. Why did you clip so long?
Rosenberg
Good.
Ebro
It doesn't.
Rosenberg
So real quick. We're just.
Ebro
We.
Rosenberg
There's so much going on right now. If this. Again, like I said, if this was about people. Yeah, like, I'd be more. It was a dumb. I think he's wrong.
Ebro
Well, I just wanted to see if you guys saw it. I didn't even think he actually cared.
Rosenberg
Was mad. I mean, was.
Laura
Do you think really made it a thing? Doja Cat.
Rosenberg
No, that was like, the latest in.
Laura
That's right.
Rosenberg
That's how you saw it. I'd already been seeing it move for a few days before. Do.
Ebro
I think it's. Honestly. Honest? Honestly, I think it's a work.
Rosenberg
This is.
Ebro
This.
Rosenberg
I thought about this this morning when I was outside with Bear. I was like, did Ebro really just say in our text that he thinks it's a race by the battle,
Ebro
by the way, leading into the Oscars. Oscars on Sunday. Chalamet's all the talk. Boom. It's a work. B.
Rosenberg
They're stirring this up, so I want to go on the ride with you. So who is benefits? Yeah. No, who's leading it?
Ebro
I don't know. The ballet.
Laura
The ballet industry sister and his grandma. Listen, this is what we're gonna do.
Ebro
Chalamet Hive. You know, I mean, it's all a troll, remember? And this is the other thing that struck me, too. The Marty supreme rollout. Remember how they were active, that marketing was.
Laura
That made it seem like it was going to be the greatest movie in the world. And I think that it backfired on them because a lot of people were so like, this is gonna be insane.
Rosenberg
It got overhyped.
Laura
Yes.
Rosenberg
And then they. And then, remember, they turned into the big Hype of Chalamet vs Michael B. Jordan, which seemed like such a forced. This forced conversation of who's better and who should be thought of. And meanwhile, both of them are nominated for bad stuff. I think Michael B. Jordan has been the more decorated one throughout the season.
Ebro
I never even saw the Michael B. Jordan versus Chalamet combo.
Rosenberg
What?
Ebro
Never saw it.
Rosenberg
Come on, bruh.
Ebro
How does that not make.
Rosenberg
Your algo is drunk.
Ebro
But that's the whole. That's why we're gonna do this on the show. New segment. Ebro's Algo.
Rosenberg
Yeah, Ebro's Algo Griffs with your algo. You saw that, right, Laura? Michael B. Jordan vs. Timothee Chalamet was a whole thing. Like people were doing think pieces. Tor whispering. Did you see that? Timothy Chalamet and Michael B. Jordan.
Ebro
Somebody asked tor have him come whispering. Rosenberg's here on the program. He loves a terray whisperer.
Rosenberg
I want to understand why certain people don't understand why you. Is your mom upstairs? Maybe you're allowed to make.
Ebro
Maybe the kids.
Rosenberg
You're a grown ass man. Make the video. No, but that was a big thing, too. So you're right back to your point. There has been a lot of hype just around the show.
Ebro
I was like, really? We're doing ballet, opera. It's.
Rosenberg
You could totally disagree with the point that. That, like. Because think about the point he's trying to make is whatever he was trying to say that led him there is. I wouldn't want to be a part of these things that are kind of like fighting.
Ebro
I'll take it further. I'll take it a step further. I was just watching Sonny. I. I've met Sonny multiple times. Very nice person. I. I didn't even believe you, son.
Rosenberg
No. She got so serious.
Ebro
I. I felt like y' all sat around in a production room was like, somebody's got to be really offended about this for this to move as Sonny was like, as a Harlem dance theater, ballet, alma mater, whatever. I'm offended. Even the panel didn't even know what to do. That improv was terrible.
Rosenberg
When she said, I'M offended. I didn't know he was that vapid, flimsy or whatever she said. I was like. I mean, he's a kid. It was. He thinks that. I get. I get what he was trying to say, but obviously those things are very popular. But we're not going to act like they're mainstream popular. They're not.
Ebro
No, they're not.
Rosenberg
Name an opera singer, guys. Name a current. Name a current current. Not Misty Copeland, another ballet dancer.
Laura
I just know.
Ebro
Well, Miss.
Rosenberg
She's retired. She retired?
Laura
Yeah.
Rosenberg
That's the only thing I know about ballet, is that Misty Copeland retired. So we're not going to pretend that they're mainstream. They're not, but they're huge. Bocelli, Pavarotti, is he still around?
Ebro
He's still doing his thing.
Rosenberg
It's Pavarotti still around.
Ebro
He's doing his thing.
Rosenberg
I have no idea. Pavarotti. I'm going to be honest with you. Pavarotti could be 75 or 80 years old or dead for 30 years. I have.
Laura
Don't know.
Ebro
That's not nice. Nice.
Rosenberg
I'm just telling you the facts.
Ebro
The opera hive's coming for you. I don't know why we playing with these Pavarotti.
Rosenberg
Pav.
Ebro
The dead.
Rosenberg
He died in 2007. Died in 07. So I missed it by seven. By 20 years. Oh, I can't believe B's gone.
Ebro
Yo, why are you doing this? What's wrong with you?
Laura
Totally. Then don't leave.
Ebro
Why are you doing this?
Rosenberg
No, that. I missed the news.
Ebro
No. Why? What's wrong with this guy? Yo, let's get. Yo, get to the guru, bro. Come on, man. Why is this guy. He really wants the opera. Hop on, you know, you, our beautiful queen Ebro. Don't ever play yourself. You're not a guru.
Laura
Breathe in. Breathe out. The original gurus. Gmail.com. the original gurus. Gmail.Com. right? To us, Tim.
Rosenberg
No one even shouted out your man Bam out of Bayou 83 points last night. Today.
Ebro
Yo, shout out to Bam. Yo, love lifts people higher, man. Seeing him and his lady and her just loving on him after he did that. It's great scene. They're both being amazing, professional. Asia Wilson and Asia Wilson.
Rosenberg
Beautiful story. And the only other thing that can lift you higher than Love is taking 41 bleeping free throws.
Ebro
That's crazy.
Rosenberg
No, at the end of the game, he just kept taking the ball and trying to score. They were up like 30 points and he. I respect him for going for it, by the way. I would do the same thing. I'm not knocking this. He just kept going for it. And then the whack ass, pathetic wizards kept fouling him. So, like the whole fourth quarter, he's just shooting free throws, too.
Ebro
So it's now. Is he making the free throws?
Rosenberg
Yeah, he shot. He shot like 36 or 43 or something.
Ebro
That's amazing.
Rosenberg
I'm a little irked that he broke Kobe's record and did it with so many more shots and so many more free throws than Kobe. But it's still very cool.
Ebro
Very cool.
Rosenberg
Very cool shots to be a metabolite.
Laura
All right, who's out there? Who needs us?
Rosenberg
Laura? Many, many people are in need and they send their emails to the original gurusmail.com. the original gurusmail.com. send your email today. You may hear yourself tomorrow. Hey, Gurus, I love you guys and I just want your opinion on something. I have a best friend who's always going through something with her boyfriend. She always complains about him and has even said that if she could go back in time, she would never have talked to him in the first place. And I'm the one she usually vents to, so I hear all of it. Her and her boyfriend recently broke up, but I have a feeling they're going to get back together. So am I wrong for not wanting to hear anything when it comes to him or wanting to be involved when it comes to them? Are you wrong? No, you're not wrong. That's not wrong. From the beginning, you're saying you heard he was whack and you wish they never met. Now they broke up, you're not in the mood to hear about, oh, my God, I'm so sad when you know for a fact she told you. I. I didn't. I shouldn't even been this guy in the first place.
Laura
I've been there. You're not wrong.
Rosenberg
No. Tell her. Hey, you made the right decision. Let's not waste any more time. You said it yourself, you never should have been with him in the first place. You're right. I know you're sad. If you want to go out, if you want me to help lift you up, if you want me to help have fun with you to get you back, I'm there for you. I'm not mourning this man with you. He sucked. We're not mourning that. That's how I'm not doing it.
Laura
You choose to get back with them, that's on you.
Rosenberg
That's on you.
Ebro
And I'm glad you went there, Laura, because the next Question you need to ask is, is are you still talking about him because of that dude? Because if he was really whack Lord, why are you still talking about him?
Rosenberg
But that doesn't mean that he's not whack. That. Doesn't that make it even easier? It's like, oh, so you had good sex with the guy. Move on.
Ebro
Maybe not. Some people struggle with that. They want the sex or they confuse the sex with actual feelings.
Laura
Yeah, that's true.
Rosenberg
Right.
Laura
But when it comes to a best friend here, you don't have to hear it.
Ebro
Yeah.
Rosenberg
And. And by the way, though, be comfortable though, though, knowing that then if she does get back with him, this, your friendship will probably take a hit.
Ebro
Well, but that's why I'm saying investigate and find out it was it do. Did. Is this really about him in the bed? Is this really about the dick?
Rosenberg
Cuz then you could be like.
Ebro
Cuz then every time it comes up, you can be like, stop. It is. You're just saying that because other good
Rosenberg
sex out there, it's cool. You'll find something.
Ebro
You'll find somebody else. Stop. It wasn't about his personality. You hated hanging out with him. You didn't like this. You run down the list of all of the things. Things. You're just talking right now because you're horny. You'll find somebody different.
Laura
And there is a possibility. Yeah. That she's going to be like, all right, and choose him and you're cooked. That's.
Ebro
No, but then once again, no. But then once again, you could be like, look, you just went back because you're shallow and you just wanted some dirt.
Rosenberg
Like Eazy said, Addicted to what the did.
Ebro
There you go.
Rosenberg
But yeah, you're not wrong for the feelings. Just know that there's a chance because we've seen it a thousand times where the good friend who's there gets left out because she goes back to the whack. That dude. We've seen it. Tale as old as time.
Laura
Say the guru.
Ebro
So say the good.
Rosenberg
That was a fun show. I enjoyed today's program.
Ebro
You know why?
Rosenberg
Because about me.
Ebro
Yep.
Rosenberg
I knew you were say it. No, cuz you know what? I was think. Cuz literally last night I thought we're. We. We hit show 50 last Friday and I was thinking about, like, the show and how it's going and how I feel like we're doing. And I feel like the one thing we can do too much of is we're also focused on the political climate that we can do days where it's all politics for like the first 45 minutes.
Laura
Yeah.
Rosenberg
And I. And I. But it's important that we do that. Like, that is also what makes us us. But I was like, but I do want us to find a groove where we just talk about good stuff. And I thought that's what today was. Covered a lot of stuff today.
Ebro
No, I'm just listening. You're observant. Just listen. I feel both. All right. Some days I want to do what you're talking about. Some days I don't.
Laura
That's what he's saying.
Rosenberg
That's what I'm saying.
Ebro
And that's why I was just listening.
Rosenberg
Okay.
Ebro
Why are you trying to get me to disagree with you?
Rosenberg
Because you do a lot of this.
Laura
I know you.
Ebro
You had just.
Laura
You had a funny style face.
Rosenberg
I'll just say I thought it was a good.
Ebro
Different.
Rosenberg
It felt a little different.
Ebro
I didn't even say anything.
Rosenberg
Man. He's like a mother, you know?
Ebro
Now I'm a mom. Now I got boobs. Oh, no. Now you trying to.
Rosenberg
