with special engagements in Dolby. Just don't call it a PO. The Eberg Show. Oh, okay. Good morning, everyone. Tuesday already. If you live in the tri state area, we're gonna get some warmth. We're talking about warmth today. That warm sunny feeling on your face. Finally. Man, bro, if you work outside or you, you know, you got to move around outside on a regular basis, you're not in the comforts of cars and you know, the luxury of working from home, man, listen, it's been cold outside in the morning for. Since November. What is that? Damn near seven months. Seven months, bro. It's been cold outside. We. Now what are they talking today? We talking 75. What we talking? What we talking? What they talking? Wow.
Laura Styles
Let me see.
Ebro Darden
I see talking 82. Nah.
Laura Styles
Yeah, look, mine says high of 82.
Ebro Darden
82.
Rosenberg
Wow.
Laura Styles
Crazy.
Ebro Darden
Rosenberg had to do his duties up there with Mickey Mouse and him at Disney espn. What you got going on specifically over there, Rosenberg?
Rosenberg
I'm. I'm doing. They call this the car wash. When. So. No, no, I'm actually Ebro. This is what? I'm actually a WWE employee. ESPN employee.
Laura Styles
Yeah, I'm here.
Rosenberg
I'm here with my guy Jacob Fatu, who we need to have on the show sometime soon. And me and Jacob are here promoting backlash. So they put me on get up first take and on their like national morning show. So we're just hitting like the. The car wash of stuff they call it.
Ebro Darden
Are you going to be able to ask Stephen A. Smith why he thinks black people should vote for Republicans at least one time? Do we have that video? Rahon? I think that is clip number. Let's see here.
Rosenberg
No, let me answer in advance.
Ebro Darden
I'm not. No, no, you're not gonna be able to slide that in.
Rosenberg
Don't plan on it.
Ebro Darden
No.
Stephen A. Smith
I wish for one election that every black person will vote Republican.
Rosenberg
What?
Stephen A. Smith
What? How can he say that? I said it's simple. Since 1964, the black people, black folks, we have been giving our vote to the Democratic Party at an exorbitant rate. Therefore they know they got our vote and they don't have to cater to us as much as we need them to. The Republicans know they'll never get our vote, so they don't give a damn about us. And as a result, we're the only community in America devoid of representation, which is why we're considered disenfranchised. I'm tired of that. What I want is to put ourselves as a community in a position where both parties have to work to get our vote.
Ebro Darden
Can I ask you this? Do you think you covering politics like you cover politics, in the words of your mans, is that good for business? Your business?
Stephen A. Smith
It has the potential not to be. We'll have to see. So far it is. I think I'm doing pretty good. So far it is. But it has the potential not to be. But here's the point, Cam. If I thought like that, I'd never be here. There's plenty of decisions over the years I could have made that would have been good for business. But I had the courage to tackle the issues that I felt passionate enough to attack. That's what makes me me.
Ebro Darden
So. And here's the problem I have with Stephen A. Smith. You think right now is the time where voting Republican could potentially benefit black folks with all the white supremacists, white nationalists, Christian nationalists, and all of the things lined up on the GOP side right now. Now. Now's the time.
Laura Styles
Right? Right. When we see the highest numbers of unemployment, when we saw so many women spending, specifically black women and women of color. But black women, number one, have lost jobs just because. Yep, yep.
Ebro Darden
Dei. Race based admissions to college.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
What we just saw with the Voting Rights act, all of that was lined up by this current administration, which is maga, gop, all that. So, Rosenberg, you're saying you will not have time to get into this while you're talking about WWE today?
Rosenberg
Ebro. That is right. I'm going to go ahead and lay out and I'm not going to get to that at this moment now. But since you did bring up politics though, did you guys happen to see Ebro? I don't think we discussed this yesterday. We finally heard from the widow of the firefighter who was killed in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Ebro Darden
Really?
Rosenberg
Yes.
Ebro Darden
What did she have to say? Do we have audio?
Rosenberg
No, it is a New York Times interview. But don't worry, your boy read it. You know, MJ was still in town, so I was still getting the bloody BBC at the dinner table.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rosenberg
I went back and read the article in the New York Times. You'll be happy to know she has heard all the conspiracy theories. She is disgusted by it. She does not believe any of these conspiracy theories, that it was staged. She was obviously there. Her daughter was there, and she lost her husband, and the whole thing was obviously not staged. And all of the conspiracy stuff really upsets her, especially because deep down she knows it was an operation done by Joe Biden. Congratulations.
Ebro Darden
You played yourself.
Rosenberg
So she doesn't believe in conspiracy theories. Ebro.
Ebro Darden
She does not believe in conspiracy theory. First of all, she's clearly not a. She's traumatized. She is emotional, and I don't. I don't want to. You know, look, man, if you were there when your loved one got killed right in front of you, you know what I'm saying? Like, I. You know, maybe I. I don't know. I don't know how I would feel. But I do want to say, ma', am, it was not staged with you in the loop. They did not give you the script. They did not tell you what was going to happen. None of that. Were they able to ask her if. Does she receive any compensation for what she's had to go through? Like, does she have any recourse or anything that, you know, she could do on behalf of her family? Because that was her husband that got killed, right?
Rosenberg
Yeah, Yeah. I didn't.
Ebro Darden
I mean, I thought he was a firefighter, you said. So I'm sure he, you know, I'm sure he had retirement, some other things, but still.
Rosenberg
But no, I didn't read anything specifically about compensation from, like, the White House or anything like that. She did say, you know, Trump has been very close. They invited her to the inauguration. They invited her to maybe the rnc. But no, I didn't. I didn't. Nothing specific about that.
Ebro Darden
The lawsuit would be against whoever organized that rally.
Rosenberg
Yeah, right.
Ebro Darden
Who? I don't. You know, that wasn't organized by the White House because he wasn't technically. He hadn't gotten the job again at that point. Right. He was still running for office.
Rosenberg
The part that just stood out to me is just that. And you're right. I'm glad you added that preface. I definitely don't want to belittle anyone who's been through any sort of trauma to this level, which is insane, but just that she said there's no conspiracy. She's offended by the conspiracy. But the next sentence was. But I know it was if anyone.
Ebro Darden
And that's why I hit the button. That's why I hit the button. And I just left it where she's not thinking clear. Because if you don't like conspiracies, why would Joe Biden have anything to do with it? But, but I. And I appreciate that, but I just want to point out now Stephen A thinks it's the time for black people to vote Republican one time. He thinks now's the time and he's offended that I think that that is soft shoeing, heel toeing and shucking and jiving for the right. That's where me and Stephen A's relationship is at at this current juncture.
Rosenberg
I mean, people do get offended by the idea of someone saying that about them, especially if you've known them for a long time and have their phone number. People do feel that way.
Ebro Darden
Well, I said it to him in text first. Does that help you?
Rosenberg
Sure you did.
Ebro Darden
Was it in text first?
Rosenberg
I know it was definitely on radio first.
Ebro Darden
You sure? Yes. Okay, well, I said it in radio first. No, I called him once, though. He and I had a face, face time where I was like, yo, bro, why are you shucking and java for the right. We did. I did that for sure. And he. And he was like, I'm not. You'll see what's going on. And I was like, bro, don't let these people use you, man. That was before his response. Then when he saw me say it on air, that's when he text us in the group. Definitely. But yeah, I, I don't. I want to be clear. I don't agree. Now is the time to be experimenting with alignment with the gop. And I think people often leave out a key piece of why black folks have and I and by. But I'll simultaneously. I do believe we need tangibles. Many communities, black and otherwise, need tangibles and know that their representatives are going to rock with them. But that's why voting local is important. The way you hold the White House accountable is by your local representation. The way we had, you know, a Jabal a Jamal Bowman here locally or we have an AOC now or they have a John Ossoff and a war knock down in Georgia. These individuals who are willing to put in the work on a local level.
Rosenberg
I don't believe in the idea. I don't think of community tangibles. I just. Communities aren't a monolith. Like saying you're doing something for the black community or the blank community is always just gonna be an effort to be like, nah, come on, come with me. It really needs to be about a candidate who has a belief in policy that benefits the community that you are a part of. That goes Back to the whole Ice Cube platinum plan, which is, yes, offensive in name, of course, but just the idea of, like, what are you gonna give us? That's gonna be a lie. That is going to be a lie,
Ebro Darden
but it doesn't work that way. I think the problem is that is not what happens for the Jewish community. That's not what happens for people when they see things for specific communities, the quote unquote Asian community. Like, they see these things that actually happen for groups specific to their ethnicity. It happens. Things that happen for the LGBTQIA community. Things that happen for the. So to say. That is dismissive, bro.
Laura Styles
They couldn't even get past an anti lynching bill, bro.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, great point, Laura. They couldn't pass an anti lynching bill.
Laura Styles
Come on.
Rosenberg
But Laura, that. That's almost speaks to my point. Exactly. An anti lynching bill to me is not a. Something that we're offering a community that should be called the foundational stuff of what we are as a country. But, like, is there specific.
Ebro Darden
So, for instance, for instance, our banning. And this is not anyone. I don't know if this is an actual policy out here, banning Confederate flags. That would be something that many people in the black community might be passionate about. Reparations. That would be something that people in the black community might be passionate about that is specifically for black folks.
Rosenberg
Reparations is a very unique one, obviously. Right. Like, that is one very specific issue that's obviously for the descendants of enslaved people. And that makes sense because that is obviously going to affect one group being banning Confederate flags. Yes, that would make the black community happy, but that shouldn't be. That's not a thing for black people. That's a thing for doing the right thing.
Ebro Darden
No, I hear what you're saying, but I think it takes a galvanization of a specific group to get momentum around an idea. So things start with a specific group. And. And fortunately or unfortunately, however you want to look at it, the way people live in America is in clusters. There are communities that are predominantly black. There are. And. And those communities are experiencing specific things that are tied to institutionalized racism in this society. And so if they don't have local representation, and that can galvanize a movement within a state or a region to get it on the federal level, to get it recognized or supported with tax dollars or whatever it is, that's what it takes. Now, in your response, you're saying, yeah, that's just the right thing to do for working people or people who come from a certain economic bracket. Right. And I agree, but unfortunately it's these movements start somewhere and it takes someone to hold a local politician's job on the on the line or a state politician's job on the line or a federal politician's job on the line to get specific things done for specific communities. That's the reality.
Rosenberg
Let me just say one last thing on it. I'll just say my problem is though, if you and people did this around Trump, if we as a community say here are our needs, then that politician can meet them. If that is your approach, rather than finding politicians who stand for your beliefs, you're going to be lied to. It's never going to happen.
Ebro Darden
That's just my personal opinion. I think the now the lying component, right, because just like with Stephen A saying, hey, I would love to see want black people vote for Republicans one time, right? Voting isn't enough. Voting isn't enough.
Rosenberg
You mean participation.
Ebro Darden
You have to participate and you have to hold people accountable. And just like the people who voted for Trump for lower grocery prices, how's that going? Just for people who voted for Trump for no new wars, how's that going? Right. Matter of fact, put up Trump's tweet about gas prices.
Laura Styles
Oh, my God.
Ebro Darden
Let me. Let's take a look at this. You saw this P. Now, Rashad, I don't know how you have this screen organized, but I don't think that's taking a look. We're trying to adapt.
Rosenberg
Patriots don't complain. They can, they can serve.
Ebro Darden
Why does this guy not have a shirt on?
Rosenberg
Very smart tips. Keep your tires properly and faded. Big one huge. Saves a lot of gas. People don't realize.
Laura Styles
Oh, my God.
Rosenberg
Drive steady. No crazy. Speeding like the lunatic. Smooth winds always only drive down.
Laura Styles
Oh, my God.
Ebro Darden
This is only drive downhill whenever possible.
Rosenberg
I've been saying this for years. Gravity is free energy,
Laura Styles
yo.
Rosenberg
Nobody uses it. Like we should fill your tank at night so the gasoline is cooler and therefore more powerful. Science do your part. Save gas. Don't be a liberal Democrat.
Laura Styles
This is sad.
Rosenberg
This is some 2018 here.
Ebro Darden
I don't know what he meant by that 2018, but.
Laura Styles
But I cannot.
Ebro Darden
So, Stephen A. You still think we should throw our vote to a Republican? Rosenberg, you look befuddled. Flabbergasted. Taking aback. You hadn't seen that.
Rosenberg
Your man not a legitimately not probably not driven himself in 50 years telling you how to drive.
Laura Styles
It's okay if you drive downhill.
Ebro Darden
You got to drive downhill more. Drive downhill, downhill. You know what I mean? Drive downhill whenever possible and get Gas
Laura Styles
at nighttime because it makes a difference nighttime.
Ebro Darden
Science, guys. Science. This is science.
Laura Styles
We're so embarrassed. We are. So embarrassing.
Ebro Darden
No, it is. It's a other. It's a other level of embarrassing. And then Trump also, just, if you keep in track, threatened Iran again to. To decimate them with bombs if they attack any of the American ships moving commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran told them not to do. So now we're playing again. Looks like we might be playing a game of chicken right now, but there's supposed to be a ceasefire going on, but Iran said, do not escort ships through this strait. Apparently, the operation. What are they calling. Hang on, let me look for the title here. One second. This is called Operation. Let's see, Pro. Excuse me. Project Freedom. That is us escorting commercial vessels through the passageway of the Strait of Hormuz. And Trump threatens on Fox News that Iran will be blown off the face of the Earth.
Laura Styles
Okay,
Ebro Darden
yeah, again, again. Thank you. Thank you, Lou, again. What? Lou, you guys got a mic on over there? Did you guys figure out that mic over there? Details, guys, details.
Laura Styles
Yes, yes, yes.
Ebro Darden
8, 4, 4, ELR. ELR3. 8, 4, 4, elr. ELR3. That is the phone number you can call just about for anything you want to call for. We have another. We got approval from my wife Jazz to give away another Starletta Estrada bag.
Laura Styles
What?
Ebro Darden
But the cut off is today. She said if you want Mother's Day orders.
Laura Styles
Oh, my gosh.
Ebro Darden
I brought the bag home yesterday because I was like, I mean, I better bring this thing back.
Laura Styles
You better.
Ebro Darden
Did not want to leave it here in the studio. Who knows who's gonna, you know, who's Swipey Swipey in the studio.
Laura Styles
Oh, my God, this is such a nice gift.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. But telling you, wow, here's the. This is the Taurus bag because it's tourist season from Starletta Estraga. So you go onto the website like many people did yesterday. I think these are almost sold out that fast.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Because she makes small bags, so it's not like there's thousands of these in existence.
Laura Styles
And if you also go to the website and you don't find the bag, the bag charms are fire, too. So you can get a bag for your wife and get a bag charm for your auntie.
Ebro Darden
Well, you know, Jazz said it was a lot of dudes ordering yesterday.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
So that's. And that's actually what my thought was in doing this. I didn't think there would be too many ladies that would be, you Know, looking for, you know, a new bag for themselves. But there was that also. But. Starletta straga.com because I. Mother's Day Sunday, you know, And I know dudes blow it, so I thought we were doing a good service. That was the impetus. Laura Styles was like, you know what? She was working on something at the house. I was like, hey, babe, can I give a bag away? She was like, give a bag?
Laura Styles
I'm surprised she said yes. Yeah.
Ebro Darden
I was like, well, dudes are looking for, like, gift giving. She was like, nah, I don't know. I was like, just give us a shot. It'll maybe it'll work out. And it worked out. She was happy with it. She was. Now, Rosenberg, you got to know, she definitely was unhappy about our giveaway execution.
Rosenberg
Well, I mean, listen, you botched it. What can I say?
Ebro Darden
I botched it. I thought that we had the equipment set up, right?
Laura Styles
Yo, I had.
Rosenberg
I mean, the second. The first one didn't work, I would have said, let's just shout out the name and keep it moving. It would have been way cleaner.
Ebro Darden
No, you're right.
Laura Styles
Oh, yeah. I did have winners. Dm me that they were very excited. The ones who won. Yeah, Very excited one.
Ebro Darden
She also jazz thanked you for bringing your bag into.
Laura Styles
Of course, she didn't realize we were
Ebro Darden
going to be up here, you know, showing off bags and things. So she was appreciative. The Met Gala was last night with. And it didn't pop off without controversy. You're gonna go through that in the rundown.
Laura Styles
Got you. Yes. All that.
Ebro Darden
Before we get to that, are we doing all Met Gala stuff? Even your stuff, Rosenberg, because you seem pretty passionate about some Met Gala stuff as well. In the chat.
Laura Styles
It's not just McCalla we have to talk about the drama that's happening with Kid Cudian and his tour. And also Stefan Diggs, private chef.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Styles
Remember, you know, there's a whole assault case going on.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Laura Styles
Oh, yeah. We're gonna watch her take the stand and say her piece. Very interesting.
Rosenberg
I was most excited, Ebro, just because Beyonce was talking yesterday.
Laura Styles
That's right.
Ebro Darden
Which is a rarity.
Laura Styles
Yes.
Rosenberg
She spoke multiple times, including, like, a little extended conversation, like a mini chat with Lala.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Rosenberg
So that was what excited me the
Ebro Darden
most, that you didn't. We don't get to see our queen speak that often. Correct.
Rosenberg
And, guys, I am down at the big B Disney building here for. For ESPN stuff today. You never know who shows up. It's the day after the Met G. And they Do Good Morning America right there.
Laura Styles
There you go.
Ebro Darden
Wait, are you going to, Are you going to, you know, just whip it, Whip it out. Whip the phone out. That is. Don't you want.
Laura Styles
Easy, easy, easy.
Ebro Darden
Whip the phone out and grab some content.
Rosenberg
If I, if I see someone that we need to talk to. No, actually, I won't do that. That'll probably get me fired.
Ebro Darden
I was gonna see if you go lie to our face.
Rosenberg
Yeah, but if I, if I know them, make a little eye contact. We don't want to have an incident happen again where I pull out a phone to film Beyonce and Jay Z goes like this.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, we don't want that. We do not want that. My man. My man hit you with the. What is that called? He hit you with the Mentalist. He just kind of, like, commanded you.
Laura Styles
It's a slow motion, Kal.
Ebro Darden
Oh, now, Rosenberg, before we get to the rundown and you are up at ESPN doing sporty things, yesterday, our guy, Michael K, did some awesomeness during the Aaron Judge home run in tribute to John Sterling.
Rosenberg
Yeah, you, you got that Baskin and the pitch high drive right center field going back to Varis. It is high. It is four.
Ebro Darden
It is God.
Rosenberg
Aaron Judge, a judgy and blast.
Ebro Darden
A judgy in black.
Rosenberg
Yeah, that was, that was fire, man. I, I. Michael also on his show yesterday. It's up on YouTube. He did his whole show about Sterling because they did radio together for years before Michael went to tv. And, man, he poured his heart out. It was, it was an awesome show. Like, just, what a, what an interesting life. Yo, Ebro, you know that John Sterling messed around and had triplets at, like 60?
Ebro Darden
You told us something yesterday. I think you said it was like twins, but it was triplets.
Rosenberg
It was, I was off. It was triplets. I forgot one triplet, another one.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, that's what it was like in the hospital when he found it out, he was like another. But, but.
Rosenberg
And the story that Michael told, that he really broke down about was that when, when John Sterling had his health, he had, like, multiple heart attacks in one day a few months ago. And he was basically down and not able to move. And Michael talked to him and, and he was like, yeah, I'm starting to rehab. I'm starting to walk. You know, even though they're, you know, I probably shouldn't be yet. Michael's like, take your time. And he's like, I can't take my time. My daughter's getting married this summer. I have to walk her down the aisle. And then obviously, he didn't make it. But, but, but, man, that guy lived a life, though, bro. That John Sterling was outside. Outside for a long time.
Ebro Darden
Has anybody gone through and done like a segment on John Sterling calls. What does this mean? What is a judgy and blast? What does this mean? What is. What does it mean?
Rosenberg
Is judgy in a word.
Ebro Darden
Griff would like to confirm. No, it is not a word. Now, John Sterling, man, people. People had he. He gave people smiles.
Rosenberg
Yo, the burn, Burn, baby, burn for Bernie Williams. Probably the most classic of all time, right? You know, he's a super unique style. When I got here, I was like, the voice of the Yankees is like this sort of goofy, like. And because I grew up in listening to Orioles radio with John Miller, which is very straightforward. He. Sterling was. But Ebro. In the end, I realized the perfect fit for New York because he could get serious when the. When the moment happened. He was also really wacky. And like, that's.
Ebro Darden
Let's be honest, the Yankees needed some levity. Let's be honest. They don't. They don't even have names on the back of their jersey. They have names on the back of their jersey. They don't have a mascot. It's mad boring.
Rosenberg
That's a great point. Pinstripes, no names.
Ebro Darden
All business at the Yankees. Except for when John Sterling goes judgy and blast.
Rosenberg
Well. Well, the first time I heard him hit the. The Yankees win. The Yankees, I was like, that's crazy.
Ebro Darden
Well, I think. I don't know the announcer's name. Forgive me. At the Mets. He ran that play last night and saluted John Sterling. He did that announcement, the Mets win.
Laura Styles
That's dope.
Rosenberg
Yeah, everyone was paying tribute. It. It was. It was nice, man. But I talked to K yesterday. He seemed in pretty good spirits. Like 87. 87 is a pretty good run. Especially when you live life as Michael described to. John Sterling. Lived life like it was always a. Drinking his hand outside, having fun. That's who he was.
Ebro Darden
So, yes, rip John Sterling and shout to the Knicks fans. The next. The biggest win in Knicks history in the playoffs last night by the most point differential. Differential last night. What was the total? Day one by.
Rosenberg
No, it's got to be second because they had. They won by more Friday. That or last Thursday. Yesterday by 39.
Ebro Darden
Yesterday was 39. So, yeah, it was the same.
Rosenberg
Yes. And Thursday was 51.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, there you go. Incredible.
Rosenberg
They're on fire, man. It's four straight.
Ebro Darden
They have.
Rosenberg
They have blown teams out in four straight games. They are Currently playing the best basketball in the NBA. The hype Train. Yo, do you have the video of them trampling poor JR Smith?
Ebro Darden
Do we have J R Smith video? It was. It's in the chat. I don't know if we got it loaded late, though. It was meant to be loaded, but we had a bacon, egg and cheese going on. On production. Yeah, it was fast to cut off. So mean Ron Baskin was in here killing a bacon, egg and cheese at 7:49. So we don't have that clip
Rosenberg
ran. Bascom cannot have bacon.
Ebro Darden
No, no, no. Rahon Bascom did not eat bacon.
Laura Styles
He's turkey bacon.
Ebro Darden
No, no, no. Ron Basine. Yo, that bacon, egg and cheese murdering it.
Laura Styles
I can't.
Ebro Darden
No, it was going down. Yo, it's time for the rundown. Let's get to it. Lor style.
Laura Styles
Let's go.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Rosenberg
Headlines heavy.
Ebro Darden
But we still caught up.
Laura Styles
So we all know the Met gala went down last night without. You know, there was drama. There was drama. I don't know if you guys got to see, but there was a. A group called Everyone Hates Elon who plastered several creative campaigns across the city. Now, there was a. A projection of video interviews with Amazon workers that was actually pretty powerful, I think. Look, these are some of the. That that's supposed to be as Jeff Bezos penthouse.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Laura Styles
On the side of the building. So they weren't playing games. They were making sure that the messages were heard.
Ebro Darden
Was Elon Musk at the Met Gal?
Laura Styles
I don't think so, but I just think that's the name of the. That guerrilla activist group. That's what they call themselves. So. And I also saw, you know, as we talked about it yesterday, was a lot of people who brought in those fake urine bottles with messages on them that got snucken into the museum.
Ebro Darden
They make it.
Laura Styles
So I. I heard that. Yeah, a couple did make it in there. So that was the point. You know what I mean?
Ebro Darden
No, this fake urine, people, not real urine. So it was just colored water, hopefully. And I was to represent the workers at Amazon that can't even take breaks to go to the bathroom.
Laura Styles
Exactly, exactly. But besides that, let's check out some of the looks from last night. Now, I was really. Beyonce was the talk of the evening. Of course. Look at her. She showed up with Blue Ivy. I can't believe Blue. I was taller than her brother.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, man, gorgeous. Your Blue Ivy's almost tall as her dad. It's great. I mean, obviously she has heels on, but still. Yes, Beyonce looking amazing.
Laura Styles
Now what Everybody was hyped about.
Ebro Darden
Wait, that was from the Envision Fest Instagram?
Laura Styles
Well, yeah, you know, the girls. Our girls cover it. They're hyped.
Ebro Darden
I didn't know Cardi B. Envision Fest on the ig. Yes.
Laura Styles
Look at Cardi B. Remember, it was wearable art, so everybody had very creative pieces on. I love Sza. That's a bad bunny. He came as a viejito.
Ebro Darden
He just came as old man.
Laura Styles
Yes. Heidi Klum as a statue.
Ebro Darden
Heidi Klum. Yeah.
Laura Styles
She's fire, though. She don't care. She goes in from her Halloween parties. Oh, the statue of Mary Jesus. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Now a very rare interview with Beyonce. That's what had everybody hyped about, because, you know, Beyonce doesn't really do interviews like that. But this was Lala. Remember Lala's BFFs with Kelly Rowland? So they have a connection. So here's Beyonce on the red carpet with Lala. And blue looks so beautiful. She looks so beautiful. This is. It's incredible to be able to share it with her. And I think she looks so incredible. She looks so beautiful. I'm like, we can learn some red carpet tips from blue. Absolutely. She's posing. I'm like, she was ready. She was. She was ready. She is ready.
Ebro Darden
Absolutely.
Laura Styles
So, B, what do think you looking forward to most from tonight? I think it's really just experiencing this through the eyes of blue and being able to relax. And I think for me, I'm wearing Olivier Rustin, who is so good, someone that's been so loyal to me, and I've done so many incredible iconic looks with him. So it's really about representing him and celebrating bodies. Just celebrating bodies. All the different bodies. Different, juicy, curvy, thin, tall, whatever. Just celebrating whoever. Whatever God gave you. Absolutely. Well, you know how much I love you, B. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for being here. Everyone is so happy.
Ebro Darden
Thank you.
Laura Styles
All right, A.
Ebro Darden
Thanks. Thanks be for sharing some of your vocabulary and air with us. We got sentences, you know what I'm saying? But you. I will say this all jokes aside, you know, Beyonce, truthfully, is a sweetheart. Like, I've never had. And I've seen her in a lot of different situations. Truthfully, a sweetheart. Seeing her talk about, I. I never. It'll never get old. Seeing her talk about her love for her children, of course, and seeing them as a family like that never gets old for me.
Laura Styles
Yeah. And also, you know, it's big to her, like representing for the designer Olivier, because, like, she could just be like, yeah, I'm Here having a great time. But she really like, like spoke highly of him and like, you know. Cause this is moment, you know what I mean? She's wearing his art.
Ebro Darden
Well, tell. I, I don't know anything about him.
Rosenberg
Costume rd, bro.
Laura Styles
No, it's just costume.
Ebro Darden
Can I learn something today by asking questions without being ridiculed by you savages? So he designed other things that she's worn in the past?
Laura Styles
Yeah. On tour or on tour on photo shoots? On different things. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
And he was already popping and then he started working with her and got more popping.
Laura Styles
Yes, yes, yes. He's very, he's famous, but makes one
Ebro Darden
of ones like just for her is the deal. Okay.
Laura Styles
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Ebro Darden
See, that wasn't that hard. Rosenbery, shut up for a second. No, do you, did you know that now question. Did you know that information?
Rosenberg
Which part?
Ebro Darden
You weren't even listening. Thanks.
Laura Styles
Oh my God.
Rosenberg
I, I, I was aware of the theme. I was not aware of her history with who her specific designer was yesterday. No.
Ebro Darden
Did you, do you know his first name by any chance?
Rosenberg
Olivier.
Ebro Darden
Okay, pretty good.
Rosenberg
Okay, that's Olivier to you and me. All right, Ebro. How does it make you feel that I wanted to, I was going to bring up, I was going to make a joke and I admit, I'm being an a hole. I was going to say, oh, I wonder what Nicki Minaj wore at the.
Ebro Darden
That's being negative.
Rosenberg
All right, Cuz I knew she wasn't there anymore cuz now she picked her friends and she only goes to the Mar A Lago gala.
Ebro Darden
Well now, well now on that I saw headlines that I just, I didn't read articles on, but maybe since we're on it. Was she invited to the Met gala? Was she uninvited? Did what, what is.
Laura Styles
I don't, I don't think she was invited this year. Yeah, I don't think she was.
Rosenberg
But even that's not the headline when
Ebro Darden
I was, I caught controversy there. I, I called bull ish there. Cause because if, if what's your man's name? Jeff Bezos and the billionaires can go hang out with Trump and still go to the Met gala. Why can't they.
Rosenberg
No, they chaired the gala or whatever.
Ebro Darden
Why can't Nicki Minaj.
Laura Styles
I guess it would have been maybe if Jeff Bezos was like, yeah, I need her there. So, But I don't know. Listen, I saw reports saying that she wasn't invited. She could have been invited and just decided not to come. Like we don't know, we don't know. But I know for a fact Zendaya decided not to come this year, and that was a big deal.
Ebro Darden
And now, was that aligned with the boycott? Jeff Bezos, BILLIONAIRE.
Laura Styles
Some people are, yes, but we don't know. These are all speculations. Bella Hadid, I mean, she's been very, you know, listen, anti everything.
Ebro Darden
I'm with all of the. I'm with all of the one thing billionaires can handle some protests of boycotts. There's not a bone in my body that feels bad when people who have a gazillion dollars and throw their money around for their own best interest and definitely are blocking people from unionizing in their corporations to protect them, to get higher wages. I have no qualms with them getting boycotted. That's part of the process that needs to happen.
Laura Styles
Right, right, right. All right. In other news, Kid Cudi.
Rosenberg
I didn't make one last point.
Ebro Darden
Oh, one last point with Rosenberg.
Rosenberg
And I got to go in a second. I got to go be on tv. When I went to go look at Nicki Minaj's page to see if she went. I'm blocked.
Ebro Darden
Wow,
Laura Styles
Congratulations. You're blocked.
Rosenberg
Are you blocked?
Ebro Darden
Let me. Wait, now this is on Instagram, Twitter.
Laura Styles
She doesn't have.
Ebro Darden
Let me see. Oh, she doesn't even have Instagram. That's out of the loop. I am. Let me see.
Rosenberg
I am blocked. It's official.
Ebro Darden
Minaj, listen. It's the year of getting blocked. This is your second big blockage. No, I'm not blocked. And she still follows me.
Rosenberg
What?
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Styles
At.
Ebro Darden
Nicki Minaj says follows you.
Laura Styles
Look at his face.
Rosenberg
That's crazy.
Ebro Darden
Why is that crazy?
Rosenberg
Because you. We've said the same things.
Ebro Darden
Have we?
Laura Styles
Oh, my God.
Ebro Darden
I don't recall.
Rosenberg
I don't know.
Laura Styles
Sorry.
Rosenberg
Block P. You and Nikki have a special relationship, you know, so. No.
Laura Styles
All right, moving on. Kid Cudi announced that he has fired.
Ebro Darden
Hey, man, do a great show. Later.
Laura Styles
Hey. He has fired.
Rosenberg
He's got.
Laura Styles
He removed Mia from his Rebel Rangers tour.
Ebro Darden
Okay.
Laura Styles
So, you know, she was performing. They were. They were performing in Dallas, and Mia decided to go on a. On a little politically charged rent. And there's video circulating. Do we have a video, Rasan? Yes, we have a photo.
Ebro Darden
Let me see the photo.
Laura Styles
There you go.
Ebro Darden
Kid Cudi fires mma, blah, blah, blah.
Laura Styles
So this is his. His statement. He says, you know, he told his manager to send a notice to her team before they started a tour. They didn't want anything offensive at the shows, you know, and I was assured things were understood. And after the last couple shows, I've been flooded with messages from fans that they were upset at the rants. So he decided to part ways with her. And I was looking because people were like, go on Twitter. She started going off on Twitter. So people were saying, you know, we're calling her out for endorsing Trump. And yo, her. Her Twitter page is chaos. But she says, don't be endorsed Trump. Yeah, bro, where have you been? She now calls herself a brown Republican.
Ebro Darden
Wait, what?
Laura Styles
Yes.
Ebro Darden
I thought you were a revolutionary or something, but what. I'm confused.
Laura Styles
On Twitter, she was like, don't be an agent of division. I can't vote in the US and 48% of Latin community voted for Trump. So are you all going to hate them all? Yes. Yes. We must unite to make this country that everybody wants to live in a better place. If you're easily led by rumors, then you. You don't see the light for yourself. I pray for your awakening, bro. Shut up. Shut up. Like, I mean, I feel like if you paid attention, I'm surprised you didn't see that she calls herself a brown Republican now. That's her thing.
Ebro Darden
Well, and. And so I didn't realize. So she said, quote, some of you in the audience, or could be in the audience, I can't perform my song illegal because of some of you in the audience calling yourself illegal and ranting about immigration visa leading to fans who booed her. Mm.
Laura Styles
Yeah. So, I mean, listen, I was surprised when I saw her on the bill when he announced the tour. I was like, really? But it is what it is, man. She has completely, like, the Mia that you remember. Yeah, she's not that anymore.
Ebro Darden
She said, quote, all right, I'm illegal. Half of my team are not here because they didn't get visas. Okay? I want you to know that. All right? So don't listen to what the bots say on the Internet. So I'm confused about what? Because we live in this. In this timeline, in this time where individuals that I thought would never play around with white supremacists and races play around with it in the guise of their own self interest in the. In the. In thinking about Mia and what she used to stand for and what her father stood for and all of these things. I go, okay, is she completely a different person? Right? Like, made a complete 180, which is possible, or is this some sort of hustle where they don't care? They're just like, I need to get visas and get money, and I'm going to say what I need to say to get in the country to perform. Right.
Laura Styles
Well, I think it could be a combination because she definitely has this clothing line where she sells. Yeah, we joke. Tin hats.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Styles
She has, like, garments that are, like, very expensive, where she weaves in like aluminum or something to block the frequency.
Ebro Darden
Yo, you see what I'm saying?
Laura Styles
Some crazy ish, bro. But she definitely sells that clothes. That's her. That's her vibe. But she did turny, bro. She endorsed Trump. And this is her. She believes that she is. Calls herself a brown Republican. This is. This is what she stands for.
Ebro Darden
Now there's another faction. I don't know if you guys. How deep you guys like to go on the Internet, but if you ever have time, there is a faction of individuals who, you know, called them self conscious revolutionary activists who now they support Trump because they want to see the United States torn to shreds.
Laura Styles
Yeah, I've seen that.
Ebro Darden
They want to see the fall of the empire. So they support Trump and this whole movement because they like seeing the divisiveness. They like seeing the fall of the economy. Yeah, they like seeing all of this. And they think breaking it is the path to the rebuild.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Is that who she is?
Laura Styles
I don't know. I don't know what her deal is. I don't know. But I know that she had a lot of issues. I think, you know, she married somebody very rich. Like, rich rich. I don't know if it's like this me or not. I don't. I don't remember who it was. And they had a child together, and I think, you know, the relationship didn't work out. And he tried to get custody of her son. I don't know if he finally did so. And then after that, I kind of sent her somewhere else. But she's from Sri Lanka.
Ebro Darden
Benjamin Broffman Bronf.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
He is member of Glomo, a direct air capture company. He's from the Bronfman family.
Laura Styles
Super rich.
Ebro Darden
They were married from 2008 to 2012. Yeah, let's see. Warner Music Group. The Bronfman family.
Laura Styles
Yeah. But, you know, like I told you, it just surprised me that he even put on the tour in the first place. So now she's officially off.
Ebro Darden
He's a member of the prominent Lehman family, Jewish Americans who founded the investment bank Lehman Brothers. Oh, and there you go. Seagram distilleries. His father was managing director there.
Laura Styles
Okay, okay.
Ebro Darden
That's where you got the Smirnoff Seagram.
Laura Styles
Sorry. Not smearing off. Yes. So that's that. All right, let's go to the lowdown.
Ebro Darden
You got low down time with lower staff.
Laura Styles
Let's go to the lowdown. Oh, boy. Now, you ever remember the drama with Stefan Diggs and the private chef? She accused him of assault. Now, this is Chef. I think his name is Mila Mylar. Mila Adams. She testified that he choked and slapped her. This was the first day of the assault trial.
Rosenberg
So when you say he smacked.
Laura Styles
He smacked me with an open hand.
Rosenberg
Do you know which hand he used?
Laura Styles
Right hand. Right side of my face.
Rosenberg
You know which part of your face got hit?
Laura Styles
The right side of my face.
Rosenberg
And then what happened?
Laura Styles
And then he.
Ebro Darden
I hit you on the left side of me.
Laura Styles
Can I have a second? Can I have a second?
Rosenberg
Yes, you can.
Laura Styles
All right. When I went up to push his head, like, block him. Like. Like block him. He took his arm and he, like, came around my neck with the crook of his elbow around my neck, and he began to choke me. Pressure on my neck. What is ill? When you were asked questions about what happened on December 2nd, you lied. It did not change what happened on December 2nd. It did not change what happened On December 2nd. He choked and slapped me. Ms. Adams, I'm gonna try my question again because you didn't think it was important. When you asked the questions of Dedham police officer Ellis on December 16th, you lied. I did not lie. Yeah. At the very beginning of this, she also. When they asked her about their relationship, remember how she was like, I'm just a private chef. She admitted that obviously they had a sexual relationship. And then after.
Ebro Darden
During the. While on the job. Before the job. During.
Laura Styles
Before. And then she claims that they had an agreement that they hired her to be a live in chef.
Ebro Darden
Got it.
Laura Styles
I don't believe the sexual relationship ended.
Ebro Darden
Right, right, right.
Laura Styles
It's just hard to believe for me. But that was a big thing at the beginning. She was like, no, no, it was just professional. And now all of it is coming
Ebro Darden
out that it wasn't all.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Now, what else? I. Because I don't know. Or. Or maybe I don't remember. I'm sure you reported on it. This is a live in chef?
Laura Styles
Yes.
Ebro Darden
Who's Stefan Diggs? Cardi baby. Cardi B's child's father ended up slapping, according to this woman, and putting in some sort of chokehold because of some disagreements.
Laura Styles
Right, right, right, right.
Ebro Darden
In the home.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And Cardi B was not present for any of this.
Laura Styles
No. But Cardi B had been around while she was quote, unquote, working for him. So that's what makes it messy, you know?
Ebro Darden
Well, I mean, but that, I think that I don't know if it makes it. It makes it messy.
Laura Styles
Yes, yes.
Ebro Darden
I don't know if it's like Cardi B's fault.
Laura Styles
No, I mean, it's the opposite. If she didn't know, you know what I mean? So I'm saying that's what makes.
Ebro Darden
See now, are Cardi B and Stefon Diggs still an item?
Laura Styles
So, I mean, listen, he came to her tour with family and there was like videos of them, like, leaving together.
Ebro Darden
So that might just be co parenting. We got to figure this out.
Laura Styles
We'll be friendly or maybe they're friends, you know what I mean? Maybe they're not romantically involved, but maybe they're friends. I mean, they have a child together. So we're going to have to deal with each other forever.
Ebro Darden
Facts, forever.
Laura Styles
It is what it is. But, yes, that's the low down. It's time for the low down with
Ebro Darden
Laura St. Did we get J R Smith getting trampled at the Knicks postgame celebration? Loaded in Rasan, you have a microphone. Let's. Let's hear from you, sir.
Laura Styles
I saw the pictures, but I didn't see a video.
Ebro Darden
Nope. No, we didn't get it now. Oh, we just skipped over that.
Rosenberg
Well, we ran through the one down
Ebro Darden
and I know I had videos. Oh, God, we have time for it. 8, 4, 4 ELR ELR 3. Call right now. We have a Mother's Day gift.
Laura Styles
Oh, my God. This is a big one, guys.
Ebro Darden
Starletta Estraga, zodiac bag.
Laura Styles
Yes.
Ebro Darden
Laura, would you talk about the leather and things, because you have this, like one of my first times touching the bag.
Laura Styles
Yes, yes, yes. No. It's a beautiful soft black leather. I love all the little details. And it's spacious enough so you could throw everything in there, but still looks like sleek and chic when you wear it out. I don't know. I love it. I wear mine a lot.
Ebro Darden
And this is apparently the Taurus zodiac symbol. Yeah, I was not familiar with these, like, traditional zodiac.
Laura Styles
Yes, yes. People get confused because a lot.
Ebro Darden
Well, a lot of times when you see somebody repping their zodiac sign, they just. It says the words or it's more specific, like it's not this.
Laura Styles
Huh.
Ebro Darden
Symbol. But these are kind of like the. The ain't like the traditional ancient symbols of it or something like that.
Laura Styles
Yep, yep, yep.
Ebro Darden
But yeah, so this is the Taurus bag, but you could got get one for whatever your birthday is, courtesy of Starletta Estraga, which is owned by my lady Jazz.
Laura Styles
Yes. And if you go. If you go to the ig, you see a lot of celebrities have been loving theirs. I saw Tiana Taylor.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Styles
June Ambrose. I don't know. It's beautiful. So if you. This is a perfect gift. If you don't know where to get your. Your wife or your mother. I mean, if you're. If you're doing well in life and your child that can do it, do it. No, but it's beautiful. And like I told you, she also has amazing bag charms that are, like, so in style right now that are perfect gifts. So I'm into it.
Ebro Darden
There you go. Starletta Astraga is the website. S T A R L E T T A A S T R O G A dot com. So you're claiming the phone works?
Laura Styles
All right, Tanya.
Ebro Darden
Good morning. Good morning. Hello, Tanya. You are on the ELR show and you are getting the Starletta Estraga zodiac bag. Oh, my God. Happy Mother's Day. Thank you all so much.
Laura Styles
Yay.
Ebro Darden
You are welcome. You are welcome. Now, Tanya, what is your zodiac sign? Sagittarius. Are you, like, one of those people that are really into repping your sign? I get that's a thing, right? Some people think their zodiac sign really is an indicator for, like, their ability to operate in life. How do you feel about that? Yes, I have two Sagittarius tattoos on my body. Oh, wow. I'm very into the interrupting my sign. Well, now you got a bag to go along with it. Courtesy of Starletta Estraga. Thank you for listening to the ELR show too, so much. Thank you. Happy Mother's Day.
Laura Styles
Happy Mother's Day.
Ebro Darden
Thank you so much. Thank you. Happy Mother's Day, Laura. And so all your beautiful wives, too. Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, Mama. We are. How we doing in the super chat, Lou? We got any chats you want to shout since we don't have rose?
Laura Styles
Get on the mic. Glue. Oh, that was dope, man. I love talking to our people, man.
Ebro Darden
Yeah, y' all could keep calling if you want. We don't have no more bags, though.
Laura Styles
Yes, yes, yes. But make sure you guys have all
Ebro Darden
up here trying to win more bags. Hard to get.
Laura Styles
B8, 4, 4 ELR ELR 3. All right, who you got in the super chat, Lou?

Ebro Darden
BNA. BNA, established 1988. Stephen A. Is only into politics, so they can be centered on the conversation. If he was serious, he would uplift the voice as he goes out of his way to tear down instead of letting the GOP pipeline and pump him up like he's. That is a long. That's a. How much? That. That's a super chat. That's just. These have been $20 each. Oh, $20. Yeah, we got to read that. $20 coming up, too.
Laura Styles
Okay.
Ebro Darden
Glad that Laura is back. Love you guys. P.S. you. You guys should teach communication. This generation needs it. Teach communication. What's that mean, dude? Like, communications class.
Laura Styles
I like how.
Ebro Darden
How you taught us at Rutgers. Oh, oh, yeah, I did. I did help Lou, and there was a. What year was that, Lou? I was over at rutger years ago. 12 years ago. Helped helped you guys redo the radio station. And. And there was a few. Few people made some media moves out of that.
Rosenberg
Right?
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
You and a couple others. Yeah. You know, look, I don't. You know, communication actually starts, I think, before college. Talk to your children, man. I know, I know, I know. You get home from work and, you know, you're tired and everybody's on their devices, or you just want to be quiet. But, man, make it a habit once or twice a week to be like, hey, y', all, let's sit at the table, have dinner together and talk. Just try, though, when your kid gets in the car, instead of just going, how was school? Ask more specific questions.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I try to get it out of my daughter, because my daughter will give me, like, good.
Stephen A. Smith
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
But you gotta be like, did you laugh today?
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Yeah. Would you laugh about, was it really funny? Right. You know, and sometimes even with Issa, I'll be like, you know, yo, was anybody super annoying today? She'll be like, ah, you know, that'll open up a whole thing I'm talking about. But what that does is that dovetails into the management.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Of dealing with people who are getting on your nerves. And also, what's worth giving your energy or not giving your energy to. You know what I'm saying? So I started doing that with Issa pretty young, and I've also watched a lot of. And tried to read books, just about this specific topic of trying to teach your kids to communicate better about how they feel. But you know what? Also, it's okay for you to communicate with your child about how you feel. The amount of times I've sat with Issa and talked about things that I didn't get done right, or things that maybe I'm frustrated about this week because I haven't had time to work on, or things I'm, you know, stressed about at work, or things I'm happy and proud of just in our family, or things we're doing as a family or why it makes me feel happy. Like, all of those things I think are important to try to because it teaches them to have confidence when they're doing it right. Because when they get out in the world, what are they going to be confronted with? A bunch of people who are putting on a facade. Right, Right. Trying to act like they're super cool because they're really insecure, not being able to just be the truest form of themselves. So.
Laura Styles
And there's also, like, you. You guys have seen kids that are scared to talk to people.
Ebro Darden
Yeah.
Laura Styles
Like, they just hide behind their parents back and they don't want to say anything. Like, they. They're just scared to answer questions.
Ebro Darden
That's right.
Laura Styles
So I think that helps that, too, because that's what I. I practice with Kenza, and I've noticed the difference. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
And encouraging them and letting them know that it's okay to say hi. Like, I'm not one of those parents that's like, if some rando uncle or whatever, you ain't, we don't see. But one time a year is like, give me a hug. I'm not pressing my child to go give a hug. You're a stranger, bro. We don't see you that much. And so she's supposed to be standoffish about. You know what I mean? Like, that's natural.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
But speaking and waving and being cordial and polite, like, that's all things.
Laura Styles
Yeah. You know, like, you know, Latinos are quick to give a kiss.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Laura Styles
And a hug. So lately I've been with her. I'm like, you can give high fives. You know what I mean? You give a high five. I'm okay with that. And then I had to really, you know, tell Ricardo, like, hey, high fives are cool too.
Ebro Darden
Right.
Laura Styles
You know what I mean? It's not always. You don't have to run and kiss someone that you don't know.
Ebro Darden
That's right.
Laura Styles
So unless it's family. So. Yeah, that's been a thing. It's been a thing.
Ebro Darden
Well, and. And it really does, you know, it's really important. And I'm glad you're doing it for Kenza. But, you know, unfortunately, we have learned a lot about the society we live in.
Rosenberg
In.
Ebro Darden
And things that were acceptable 20 years ago, 15 years ago, probably shouldn't have been acceptable 20 years ago, 15 years Ago. Cuz guess who was taking advantage. Crazy old, nasty old dudes. And women, too.
Laura Styles
Right? Right.
Ebro Darden
We're taking advantage of children who were thinking it was okay to just go and be in someone's house or spend the night or giving hugs and kisses and holding hands with people you don't really know like that.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And it's unfortunate. In my house, we ain't. There's no sleepovers.
Laura Styles
Yeah. I don't do that.
Ebro Darden
We're not sleeping over. Family or not.
Laura Styles
Yeah, I'm the same. I'm the same.
Ebro Darden
Nah, bro. Yeah, well, I. And I always say this on the show, too. You think you know people because you see them often. You don't know people, man, until it's one o' clock in the morning. They getting about the bed, and you're like, yo, wait, wait. What happens around this house? What's going on, bro?
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
You don't really know what's going on. You don't know what people do before they go to bed while people sleeping. You don't know, bro. You don't know.
Laura Styles
All right, we went. We went down a dark hole.
Ebro Darden
That's all right. It's time for the gurus. Rosenberg. Laura, you know, you are a beautiful queen. Ebro, don't ever play yourself. You're not a guru.
Laura Styles
All right. The original gurusmail.com. the original gurusmail.Com. when you guys are like, hey, where do I write to you? TheOriginalGurusMail.com where the gurus unite to fight for what's right. All right. Burn the sage, Ebro. All right, let's do this.
Ebro Darden
Zen, Zen, Zen.
Laura Styles
Dear gurus, love the show, and I've listened to you guys for a long, long, long time. I love listening to you guys on my way to and from work on Apple podcast. And here's my situation. I've been dating this guy for four years. Two years long distance and two years and 15, 15 minutes away from each other. Oh, okay. And for financial reasons, we do not live together, but plan on getting a house. Two months from this email he was thinking about proposing once. We live together, we come from two different lifestyles, both ethnicity and financially. However, both of our parents have been married for 40 plus years. We both don't believe in divorce. I'm just scared of the word forever. I'm being honest, guys. This has been the longest relationship that I've ever been in and he has been engaged before. I've always dreamed of what my husband looked like and being a certain way and he's the complete opposite. He also acts differently, but I don't know if it's because he's younger than me or his ethnicity. I love the relationship in him. My whole concern is how do I know if he's the right one? How do I know if he is the one? Am I the problem or am I just scared of the commitment? Please help.
Ebro Darden
What did she say? His ethnicity?
Laura Styles
I don't know.
Ebro Darden
What is she talking about? I mean, read that line again.
Laura Styles
I mean, she mentioned it, she drops it a few times. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Like at the beginning she says, hold on. Financially we don't live together. Hold on. No, no, we, we live, we come from two different lifestyles, both ethnicity and.
Ebro Darden
Okay, two different lifestyles, both ethnically I think she meant. And financially. Yeah, two different lifestyles. What's a different lifestyle? Financially and then economic bracket. Is that what you mean?
Laura Styles
And then she also says, I don't know if it's because he's younger than me or his ethnicity. Again, so he's younger. She's.
Ebro Darden
They're probably culturally different.
Laura Styles
Culturally different. And they come from different financial backgrounds
Ebro Darden
and does that mean that. Well, I guess she's not really saying. Is that because she comes from a more well off situation to him, she's not really getting it.
Laura Styles
Could be the opposite.
Ebro Darden
How long they've been together.
Laura Styles
Laura, Bro. They have been together for four years.
Ebro Darden
Four years?
Laura Styles
Yeah. Two years long distance and I guess two years living 15 minutes away from each other.
Ebro Darden
Okay. And she wants to know if this is it.
Laura Styles
Yeah. I think she's scared of commitment and I don't think she is truly like all the way in, in this relationship.
Ebro Darden
Most of the, the, the things that she's asking questions about. Many people deal with super normal.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah.
Ebro Darden
Come from different backgrounds. You know, financial situations were different growing up, but that's what makes real relationships harder than dating facts is because now you guys have to have some convos about these things that you are saying or having questions about. So these questions that you gave to us, if you guys are in a healthy relationships that has promise, you should be able to say, hey, I have questions about things and I would love to be able to talk about it. Matter of fact, four years in, I think it's a great time to do it. You know why? Because it is a great test for the ability to communicate thoroughly. It's a great time to have it.
Laura Styles
I don't know. I think she also has all these, like, fake false expectations because she. She did say this. I've always dreamed about what my husband looked like and being a certain way, and he's the complete opposite. So I think that she's made up this perfect husband for herself and he's nothing of what she imagined.
Ebro Darden
Congratulations. You played.
Laura Styles
I don't know, bro. I don't know if she's that into him.
Ebro Darden
Well, no, she may have. She's conditioned to think certain ways.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
And what she's fallen in love with is different than her conditioning. And so before you get too far off into this, and y' all have children and cl. And I bet your fit. Your conditioning comes from your community you come from and likely your family. And so you need to make sure you guys are rock solid and you really love this person and you're into what it is, and you unpack what it is you love about this person. Because this whole. I thought he would.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Let me not. Let me not jump to conclusions. Y' all know where I was gonna go. So it sound like a white woman dating a younger black dude.
Laura Styles
Could be.
Ebro Darden
Doesn't it sound. It don't sound like that. But I'm staring. That's me stereotyping. So let me not do it.
Laura Styles
Could be.
Ebro Darden
Let me not be.
Laura Styles
Or he could just be like, I don't know. But yes, I. I do think you're scared of commitment. And I do think. No, she makes sure that you're a hundred percent in before you decide.
Ebro Darden
See, Laura, I think. I think you're oversimplifying. It's not. Yes, she is scared of commitment. That is a fact.
Laura Styles
With him.
Ebro Darden
With this person. Because of his attributes.
Laura Styles
Yeah.
Ebro Darden
Because they don't neatly line up with her expectations of where her life would have been. And so you need to add. If you're going to be with this person, you need to be able to have a conversation about all of this.
Laura Styles
Yeah, man. Or else don't waste his time because he sounds like he's the type of person has been dating and wants to get married. So if. I don't know, I just feel like, yo, if you don't feel the same, don't waste people's time.
Ebro Darden
Let us find out. You just fetishizing this dude.
Laura Styles
Oh, my God.
Ebro Darden
That you got some fetish where. Because this is a real thing where people will want to be with someone because it's fun and it's the this and it's sex and. But that person, when it comes down to the nitty gritty, they don't want to have children with that person. They don't want to be with that person long term because of where they're from or what they look like. But you want to have sex with that person. You want to have all this for. Men do it all the time. Women do it, too.
Laura Styles
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I. I just think you need to take a look in the mirror and just ask yourself, do you. Do you really want this? Are you sure that this is the person you want to be with? Because I just don't believe in wasting people's times, bro. This. This gentleman sounds like he is dating to get married. Like he's been putting time and effort into this relationship, bro. They're supposed to buy a house in two months.
Rosenberg
Congrats.
Laura Styles
Hit the button.
Ebro Darden
You played yourself.
Laura Styles
Yeah, I. I just think, you know, you. I know you keep saying in the email, I love the relationship in him, but do you? Are you sure? So I. I think that before you go into getting married or buying a home or having children, you have to be 100%, like, happy and content and sure of that decision. If not, leave him alone. Leave him alone. So say the Gurus.
Ebro Darden

Episode 93: ESPN Rosenberg, Knicks Win, + Met Gala Hate
Date: May 5, 2026
Hosts: Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez, Peter Rosenberg
This episode mixes up sports, cultural happenings, and societal debates in the ELR trio’s inimitable style, blending humor, sharp critique, and candid conversation. Highlights include a breakdown of Stephen A. Smith’s recent political comments, the legacy of Yankees announcer John Sterling, monumental Knicks wins, controversies and activism surrounding the Met Gala, Kid Cudi tour drama, and a “Gurus” segment offering real relationship advice.
Clip played of Stephen A. Smith wishing all Black voters would vote Republican “just one election” for leverage.
“Since 1964, Black folks… have been giving our vote to the Democratic Party at an exorbitant rate. Therefore they know they got our vote and they don’t have to cater to us... The Republicans know they’ll never get our vote, so they don’t give a damn about us. …What I want is to put ourselves as a community in a position where both parties have to work to get our vote.”
(Stephen A. Smith, 02:40–03:32)
Ebro and Laura push back.
Ebro expresses incredulity that now, with “white supremacists, white nationalists, Christian nationalists… all lined up on the GOP side,” would be the time for Black voters to experiment with the Republicans.
“Now is the time… with all the white supremacists… Now’s the time?” (Ebro, 04:13)
Laura highlights GOP policies harming Black women and communities of color, especially recent rollbacks on DEI and voting rights.
“When we saw so many women… specifically Black women… lose jobs…” (Laura, 04:39)
The trio debates political participation and accountability:
Rosenberg raises the problem with “community tangibles”:
“I don’t think communities are a monolith… It really needs to be about a candidate who has a belief in policy that benefits the community that you are a part of.” (Rosenberg, 10:53)
Ebro counters with how successful advocacy often starts with ethnic or local communities:
“It takes a galvanization of a specific group to get momentum around an idea… and those communities are experiencing specific things that are tied to institutionalized racism…” (Ebro, 13:03)
Laura with a cutting reality-check:
“They couldn’t even get past an anti-lynching bill, bro.” (Laura, 11:59)
They agree that real change comes with active participation and holding politicians accountable, not just voting.
“Voting isn’t enough. You have to participate and you have to hold people accountable…” (Ebro, 14:43)
The crew share and mock an old Trump gas-prices post filled with unscientific advice.
Ebro gives an update on U.S.-Iran tensions, with Trump threatening Iran during ongoing “Project Freedom” naval operations.
“Trump threatens on Fox News that Iran will be blown off the face of the Earth.” (Ebro, 18:27)
Knicks won by 39 points, following an earlier 51-point blowout.
Missed opportunity to play J.R. Smith’s celebration-trample video due to studio bacon, egg, and cheese chaos.
Red carpet fashion review: Beyoncé (w/Blue Ivy), Cardi B, Bad Bunny as “viejito,” Heidi Klum as a statue.
Extended on-air Beyoncé interview with LaLa—rare moment of Queen Bey sharing family pride:
Tribute to designer Olivier Rousteing.
“Billionaires can handle some protests. That’s part of the process.” (Ebro, 35:38)
Kid Cudi fires M.I.A. from his tour after her on-stage political rants and pro-Trump statements. She now brands herself “a brown Republican,” shocking the hosts given her past.
M.I.A.’s recent statements and activism dissected, including conspiracy-tinged social media.
Recap of Stefan Diggs (Cardi B’s likely ex/partner) assault case from chef Mila Adams, including trial testimony. Chef admitted to prior sexual relationship, contradicting earlier claims.
Discussion on blurred lines in employer-staff relationships; uncertainty if Cardi B and Diggs are still together.
“You can give high fives. And I had to really tell Ricardo, high fives are cool too.” (Laura, 55:05)
Stephen A. Smith on Black Political Leverage:
“Since 1964, Black folks… have been giving our vote to the Democratic Party at an exorbitant rate. Therefore they know they got our vote and they don’t have to cater to us… The Republicans know they’ll never get our vote, so they don’t give a damn about us. …What I want is to put ourselves as a community in a position where both parties have to work to get our vote.” (Stephen A. Smith, 02:40–03:32)
Ebro Calls Out Stephen A.:
“You think right now is the time where voting Republican could potentially benefit Black folks with all the white supremacists… Now's the time?” (04:13)
Laura’s Policy Reality-Check:
“They couldn’t even get past an anti-lynching bill, bro.” (11:59)
Mocking Trump’s Gas Tips:
“Only drive downhill whenever possible… Gravity is free energy!” (Rosenberg, 16:07)
“Get gas at nighttime because it makes a difference…” (Laura, 17:15)
Beyoncé on Body Positivity at Met Gala:
“Just celebrating bodies. Different, juicy, curvy, thin, tall, whatever. Just celebrating whoever, whatever God gave you.” (31:42–32:22)
Rosenberg Blocked by Nicki Minaj:
“When I went to go look at Nicki Minaj’s page to see if she went. I’m blocked.” (Rosenberg, 36:26)
Ebro on Billionaires & Boycotts:
“Billionaires can handle some protests… That’s part of the process that needs to happen.” (35:38)
Kid Cudi Fires M.I.A.:
“She calls herself a brown Republican now. That’s her thing.” (Laura, 38:25)
Laura on Relationship Advice:
“If you don’t feel the same, don’t waste people’s time. …He sounds like he’s dating to get married. …They're supposed to buy a house in two months!” (62:29)
This episode is quintessential ELR: an hour-plus of sharp, funny, and opinionated takes. The team takes on political controversy (Stephen A. Smith, Trump), celebrates NYC sports history (Sterling, Knicks), dissects cultural events (Met Gala, M.I.A.), gives real-life advice, and folds in their own personal stories. The tone swings naturally from serious to hilarious—sometimes in the same minute—making it equally informative and entertaining.
Listeners leave better informed about current events, with new perspectives on community power, accountability, and the “messiness” of pop culture—and, of course, a few classic sound bites and memes to share.
