What's up, Liz Wilcox here. You're listening to the email sound booth podcast and I'm in a much better headspace than episode 106. If you listen to that. Sorry for the woe is me at the beginning of that. Hopefully it picked up for you. Anyway, if you didn't listen to episode 106, you might want to listen or watch on YouTube@watchlist.com simply for the lolz. For the lolz of it all. Anyway, episode 107. One thing your landing page might be missing. If you haven't noticed, the last couple weeks, we have been really, really focused on list building. Why? Because list building is hella important. You know, you can't build your audience, grow your business, make money if you're not constantly and consistently getting new leads, Right? Am I right? I'm right. Just. Just know I'm right. Anyway, landing pages. So if you've got a freebie or just any place where people can sign up for your email list, here's one thing your landing page might be missing. A picture of yourself. Yes, that's right. It is that flipping simple. Okay? Simple. They don't call me the Fresh Princess Fresh for nothing. I'm offering fresh takes. Here's a fresh take. Here's a simple one. They should call me the simple princess of email marketing. But fresh is more fun. Shout out Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Anyway, a picture of yourself is like gold on a landing page. Number one. It's going to offer that face connection, right? It's not necessarily like, video. Like, if you're watching on YouTube, by the way, like, and subscribe, obviously. If you're not watching on YouTube. Why not? You're missing out on these amazing facial expressions. So you can offer that face connection in the same vein, it can, you know, put a. Put a face to the name, right? There are some people who, you know, they find me and they're like, oh, I don't know what you look like, or this. Actually, this is not the case anymore because I have a picture on my landing page. But when I was an RV travel blogger, I didn't always notice I had several different freebies. And so not every freebie landing page had a photo of me, right? So this is a great way to just solve that problem right now. It can also say a lot in a little words. For example, I just told you, like, go to YouTube. Watch my facial expressions, right? If you watch Survivor, you know, my facial expressions are on point. It is straight comedy, right? So when people see me, when they see the Picture. They can get a vibe, they can get an essence. Right? For example, my. And you can go. It's in the show notes. You can go to my landing page if you've never seen it, if you signed up through just joining email marketing membership or something, you can see I've got a picture. I'm in my rv. This picture is old. I should update it. But that's episode 109, by the way. Link in the show notes for that if it's been released already. Why? I haven't changed my landing page in five years. But anyway, it's just an old picture. But I'm wearing a Will Smith shirt, which, you know, hashtag. I already mentioned him. I don't know why I mentioned a hashtag, but you know, rewind two minutes. I mentioned Will Smith. He's obviously, he's in the. Again, if you're watching on YouTube, he's literally in the background. I'm pointing at him right now, like, he's a big part of, you know, my story and my inspiration. And so of course, he's also on the landing page with me. I'm pointing at it. I'm pointing at Will Smith on my shirt. And I say something like, will Smith would want you to have this. Now, obviously, that's wildly inaccurate. That is a. That is false. That's a lie. Well, it's an exaggeration. But you get a feel like, oh, Liz is silly, she's fun. She's slightly ridiculous. If you are into that, you love the picture, you're gonna sign up. If you're not into that, you wouldn't be listening to this podcast, right? Oh, fresh princess. An email that's kind of weird, egotistical, strange. I'm gonna go learn from someone else. So again, the one thing that your landing page might be missing is a photo of yourself. Pick one that best represents you or the way you want your brand and voice to feel online and go for it. Put it on the landing page. You just might be surprised that your conversions go up. Anyway, I don't know why I. Awkward pause. But I'm not going to edit it out. I forgot what I was going to say. But don't forget, remember, we're doing list building. We're talking all about list building. Elements of list building. And don't forget, March 11th through the 13th, I've got list building live. A little mini audio summit. I'm so excited. We've got people talking about all different ways they are growing their email list and what, working for them in 2020. 5. I am like, my voxer. I'm recording it with voxer. It is blowing up right now with all sorts of amazing conversations about it. I just. I can't wait. March 11th through the 13th, you can get signed up with the link in the show notes. As always, I'm Liz Wilcox, and you are amazing. I will see you on the next episode of the Email Sound Booth podcast.
Podcast Summary: The Email Sound Booth with Liz Wilcox
Episode 107: One Thing Your Landing Page Might Be Missing
Release Date: March 4, 2025
In Episode 107 of The Email Sound Booth, host Liz Wilcox delves into a critical aspect of email marketing: optimizing landing pages to enhance list building efforts. Building on the momentum from previous episodes, Liz emphasizes the importance of continuously attracting and engaging new leads to grow an online business successfully.
Liz opens the episode by reinforcing the significance of list building for online businesses. She asserts that without a steady influx of new leads, it's challenging to build an audience, expand the business, or generate revenue. This episode centers around refining landing pages to maximize their effectiveness in capturing email subscribers.
Liz Wilcox [00:30]: "You know, you can't build your audience, grow your business, make money if you're not constantly and consistently getting new leads. Right? Am I right?"
The core topic of the episode is a seemingly simple yet powerful element that many landing pages lack: a personal photograph of the business owner.
Liz explains that including a picture of oneself on a landing page fosters a personal connection with visitors. This visual element helps put a face to the name, making the interaction more relatable and trustworthy.
Liz Wilcox [02:15]: "A picture of yourself is like gold on a landing page. It's going to offer that face connection, right?"
She shares her own experience as an RV travel blogger, noting that not all her previous landing pages featured her photo. By adding her image, she enhanced the personal touch, making her outreach more effective.
Beyond just personalization, a photo can convey the brand's personality and vibes. Liz uses her own landing page as an example, where her picture in an RV wearing a Will Smith shirt communicates her fun and slightly quirky persona.
Liz Wilcox [05:40]: "If you're into that, you love the picture, you're gonna sign up. If you're not into that, you wouldn't be listening to this podcast, right?"
This strategy not only attracts the right audience but also deters those who might not resonate with her brand, ensuring a more engaged and interested email list.
Liz emphasizes that adding a personal image can significantly boost conversion rates. By presenting a relatable and authentic image, visitors are more likely to trust and engage with the content, leading to higher subscription rates.
Liz Wilcox [09:10]: "Pick one that best represents you or the way you want your brand and voice to feel online and go for it. Put it on the landing page. You just might be surprised that your conversions go up."
Towards the end of the episode, Liz reiterates the ongoing focus on list building and shares information about an upcoming event, List Building Live, scheduled from March 11th to 13th. This mini audio summit aims to bring together experts to discuss effective strategies for growing email lists in 2025.
Liz Wilcox [12:50]: "March 11th through the 13th, I've got list building live. A little mini audio summit. I'm so excited."
Liz also mentions the dynamic conversations happening on Voxer, highlighting the vibrant community engaged in discussing list building techniques.
Episode 107 of The Email Sound Booth offers valuable insights into enhancing landing pages for better email list building. By simply adding a personal photograph, businesses can create a stronger connection with their audience, convey their brand personality, and potentially increase conversions. Liz Wilcox's engaging delivery and practical advice make this episode a must-listen for online entrepreneurs looking to optimize their email marketing strategies.
