And my guest today is going to talk all about this. This is someone who is so good at what she does, she's actually been invited to have a TEDx talk. She's a TEDx speaker and she is your coach who talks about branding that she is their coach. This is Tina Brigley. How are you girl?

I'm good. I'm excited to be here.

Yeah, me too. Listen, I am one of those who over the last at least two years has leaned into the personal brand above the company brand. I say this and this is gonna be a fun conversation because I ask people this all the time. Who's Chevrolet CEO? Everyone says I don't know. Who's Tesla's CEO? We all know, right? Who is you know, brand Google CEO? Most people don't know. Who is Facebook's CEO? We all know. And you? The list goes on and on and on and on. And it's the personal brand above the The. The company brand. And so, Tina, this is your specialty. It's quite literally what, you know, you gave a TEDx talk into. Let's just start off with the basic premise of building a brand.

Yeah. So everybody has a story in their heart. I call it their soul's message. It's the thing that happened in their life. That messy moment that sometimes people shy away from. They feel embarrassed by. They're like, how did this happen? But a lot of times when coaches are working with me, I ask them, what is your messy moment in life? What is that thing that you don't really want to talk about? And they'll tell me, every time I was stuck in corporate, I was doing this, they'll go on and on and on about the story, and I'll say, well, how did you overcome that? I watched this podcast, I listened, I read this book, this coach came in, and like, man, that's your gold. Like, what? What do you mean? I don't want to talk about that? I said, but your people that are going to identify with you consider that they're stuck in that moment right now where they're spinning, they're spiraling. What am I doing? Why am I in this relationship? Why am I so stuck in my health? Why am I stuck in this job? And you come in and say, I know. I get you. I was there, too, and this is how I got out. This is my methodology, and this is how I can help you. And people say, yes, I need that, because the pain is so prevalent, and people, they misjudge how important your talk is. Like, but I don't want to talk about that. I'm like, okay, well, what other messy middle moment do you have? Because we have lots of them. This is life. It's a whole bunch of highs, lows, messy moments, turnaround moments. Which one? You know? And so a lot of times they don't know what that story is that they want to share with the world or connect with their audience. So when they do find it, and sometimes it's so in their face and they missed it that I didn't think that was my story. But when I help them craft their talk and I get the soul of their message, every single person says, wow, I feel that's me. And I feel like I could help a lot of people that were just like, me. Yeah, girl. Yeah, guy, you know?

Yeah, yeah, listen, I am. I was probably your perfect avatar as a. As a client, right? I had a very hard time transparently coming out with my messiness. Right? And part of it is ego and pride driven at the end of the day, right. Like I, I've, I've cultivated a position in, especially in the real estate space over almost 20 years. And it was very hard for me to, to come out, if you will. Right. For lack of a better way of saying it and to be transparent, to be authentic, to tell my story. And I have a very good friend, he's kind of an older brother and he literally sat me down. We have 300 investors in a room and I'm speaking to them and he sits me down prior to this and says, bro, it's your time. And I'm like, I don't get it. I don't. What? What time? Yes, I'm about to go speak. I get it. He's like, no, no, it's time to be real. Time to talk about it. Like, because he knows what I'm going through in the fight I'm up against, right? And he's like, dude, you will see what will happen. You don't know yet, but you will see the amount of people who will gravitate towards you because of who you are. Your transparency, your authenticness of coming out with the messy middle, as you say.

Yeah.

And when I say nerve wracking. And I literally public speak for a living, quite literally professional, because people pay me to do it. Yeah, right. It is not easy, girl. So, so, so talk to us. Like even me, 20 years, I'm like, oh my God. I started getting nervous. Like I'm sweating. I'm like, okay, right? And his point is probably the same thing. He's like, all my social media, if you guys are following me or Tina, if you're like, you'll see. It's very message driven. It's very overcoming obstacles driven. Now that's new. Does not always me, right? It was more about how you get rich, how you win, how you flip homes, how you buy apartments, how you. It was all that.

And finally he just looked at me and just like an older brother would like, dude, knock the off. Right? And so how do you help people like that? Like, yeah, I am very confident in my shoes. But like, I know a lot of you listening right now aren't and you need to hear what Tina has to say. So, so how do you help these people get there?

So I know this might sound a little woo woo, Justin, but I do believe that we have a soul message. Our essence, our alignment. Right. Who we're supp. Supposed to be for the world. And then there's the ego and the ego Says you failed. Nobody wants to hear about your failure. This is drama telling, nobody cares, but the soul is saying, almost. This is how I visualize it. I put this on your path to help you show, to show you this lesson. This lesson is what you get to share to the world because it's the lesson that people are going to learn from. And I do believe that our purpose on, in this world, in life, is to share. Look at all the storytelling over the years, millions of years, you know, I don't know millions, but since I'm here, we all have shared stories. That's how we pass down information. That's what people retain. And so I really do believe that discerning between what's ego, what's your ego telling you and what's your soul telling you. And your soul's always leading you to where you're supposed to be. And people aren't buying what you're doing, they're buying why you're doing it, just like Simon Sinek says. But what is it that has a stop. That message is fear. Looking good, avoiding looking bad. What will people think about me if they think that I'm a failure? But people don't really connect with people that don't share how they got to where they are. You know those people that are, oh, I, I'm a millionaire, and look at me, and I did this and I did that, and people don't see themselves in that. They think, will that ever be me? I don't think that's ever going to be me. But if somebody comes in and says, look at me, I'm a millionaire, but this is actually what it took, and I had to fall over and over and over again. Then they see themselves in the fall and say, that person fell. It's okay that I'm falling, but if I keep getting back up, then I know that I'm on the right path. And I know that that can happen to me, too. Now, the distance between that person that you see, you know, see these people, and we connect to them because there's a part of us in them. It's a mirror they're showing us a mirror of what's possible if we keep moving forward. But if everybody's afraid of sharing that, you know, raw part, then we never know the truth and we just have all these people that seem so untouchable.

You know that.

I mean, that's literally what I was told. Right? Like the truth of what's going on with you, Justin. Right. And I'm just using my example again. In hopes to empower people to contact Tina. And she's the expert at this. I was just told to do it and I just went and did it. But you know, exterior, the, the outside, the social medias saw like I'm just printing money and pissing gold. And meanwhile I'm in like a dragon fight with three dragons every day.

Yeah.

And the idea was if someone is going to follow your footsteps, they need to understand there's three dragons around that corner. And you know that, but they don't.

And it's incongruent, it's not transparent and it's just not that I was lying, but like, it's just false to, to present something as if you're, you know, again, like I say, pissing gold every day. And really you're fighting dragons for your life. Right. And so I think that's such a valuable lesson that people need to understand. The age old saying is, you know, people buy you and they do business with people they know like, and trust. You know what happened, Tina, when I did my exercise and I just said, okay, I'm, I'm changing my content, I'm reframing it. I'm going, I'm going full transparency mode. Right. You know what happened?

People accepted it. I'm pretty sure.

Oh my God, they leaned into me.

Yes.

Not just to help. It wasn't just like, hey, how can I help? But it was literally like, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. All my messages, like, oh my God, we look at you like invincible out there and you're dealing with that. I dealt with that. I'm going through it. I'm ha. Thank you. Right. And that is. And out of that came all this beautiful opportunity over the last two years for me because of that.

You know I in 2020-2022 I grew a multi seven figure coaching company. Well if you've done any stats on coaching businesses, that's like the top 1%. And I know a lot of people say that and when I hear them say it and I look at their social media profiles and you know, I'm calling bullshit because I actually know what I can see the signs. I can see who's legit, I can see who isn't because I was in it and I was on top of the mountain. I literally thought, you know, coming from my family wasn't poor but we really didn't have a lot. So I always had this belief that you had to work really hard and you had to fight for everything that you have and hang on to it. So here I am generating like in our business, you know, multi six figure months, taking home 50k months, 40k months. That was more than what I made as a teacher. Take home in a year, I was taking home in a month. And I had this like fear when's the shoe gonna drop, right? When's the. This is too easy. What's wrong? It's so easy. And after two years of speaking on stages with you know, people like Marissa Peer, Dan Priestley, Harville Hendricks, these big names in the coaching industry, being in Forbes, USA Today, all of this great stuff, my business partners sat me down and said it doesn't work for us for you to be a co founder anymore. We want you to step down, keep doing everything that you're doing, which is pretty much everything. But we want you to take a salary and remove yourself from all business operations. And I said, or what? I mean that's one option, right? What's the other option? And I said well you can quit. And I thought oh shit, I just bought like a million dollar house, I'm driving around in an Escalade. I just got divorced, I'm a single mom, I lost my dad not even a year ago. My like all of this stuff was happening all at once. And I'm telling you Justin, this is the most powerful experience I've ever had in my life. It wasn't a decision. You know, decisions cut off possibility where, you know, you think about, you weigh the pros and the cons and the, the money and the this and the that. No, I powerfully made a choice in that, that moment. Stay where I'm not valued and appreciated or walk away. And everything in my heart, soul said, you built it once, build it again. And so right there and then, I quit. I didn't think about the consequences, I didn't think about the money, I didn't think about, oh my gosh, I'm a single mom, what am I going to do now? It's. In that moment, it was so clear to me. There was this moment of silence. It was just a hundred percent certainty. Don't worry. Wherever it was coming from was, don't worry, I got you. And I felt it. I felt like I was being held. And I walked away after that. The next day I had a. Oh my gosh, what did I just do? I have no YouTube channel, no podcast, no email list, no audience. Everything that I built for two years was gone. I mean, they, in 24 hours, it was like I was disappeared from the earth. Like there was no sign of Tina Brigley on any of that platform. Yeah, and I had a pity party for six weeks. I really was very. I was sad, I was on the couch, I couldn't get out of bed. My beliefs were, I have nothing. Who's ever going to want to work with me? I'm starting off with nothing. And that was a limiting belief. That wasn't the truth. Because you can take everything away from me, but you can't take me away from me. And I had spent the last seven years growing me, preparing myself to be able to stand in any fire, any situation and know that I will come out on top of. And so it was a really interesting moment. Cause my 12 year old daughter, I tried hiding it from my kids, but it was really challenging. And one day she just came up to me, she's like, listen, mom, those boys don't deserve your tears. She said, when you're stopped, so is your world.

A 12 year old said that.

[C]

12 year old. This was not coming from a 12 year old. This was divine. I truly believe. She said, put your tears away and get back to work. People need you. And that was just. It wasn't what she said. It was a testament to the work that I had been doing because I could see that it was reflecting over there with her. She could see, I know you. I see you. Did you forget who you are? And that's the last thing she said. Have you forgotten who you are? You're Tina fricking Brigley. Okay, girl. Okay. You know, but it was that spark, that one thing, that. Yeah, okay. And so I put myself back out there and I told the truth, said, hey, listen. And it wasn't a drama story. It wasn't, oh, look what they did to me. Hey, listen, this is what happened. I'm on my own now. I'm going to help you learn everything that I've learned. Whoever wants to work with me, here's my link. Let's book a call. I created a $30,000 program without a program, and I enrolled six people in that $30,000 program in six weeks.

I don't know what you have, but I want some of that. The first time they said yes, I'm like, really? Because I thought, what the hell? A year. A year is a long time. I have a lot of knowledge and experience. And that's when I realized it doesn't matter what you're selling, you're. I was building a personal brand.

Yep.

I was building myself. And people were trusting me because I was sharing my journey. And that business ended up going bankrupt eight months later.

Hmm. That was a business that.

[C]

That you left Business that I left. Went bankrupt. A multi seven figure business. Because I was the personal brand. It didn't matter what the title was. People were coming because I was doing the content, I was sharing my stories, I was doing the webinars, the ads, the everything. People were connecting to me. And when I left, they're like, what the heck?

Yep. Matters. Yeah. You know, you said something, I think you used the word journey. And I think that was the word that, like, my ears just perked up and I wanted. We all have a journey. And the challenge most people have when, when even thinking about your expertise of creating your story and creating your personal brand, people don't recognize the journey they've been on. They, they, they think it's normal, like, oh, it's what I did. It's not whatever, it's this. They don't actually look at, like all those moments, all those dots, if you really genuinely look backwards, they're all learning moments that you learned. You continue to go. You may not. The way I kind of look at it is like, I'm a, I'm a, a, I'm a parent to younger kids. So day in and day out, my, you know, two year old son doesn't really look different. I just left for six days. I came back and quite literally thought he grew like into a five year old. But every day you don't see it. But when you remove yourself or in my I say elevate, you can actually see you have a story. We all have a story and we've all been able to overcome things that maybe you just feel because you overcame it, it's not a big deal. No one really cares. No one's going to care I did this or did that. Like, it's not that relevant. It is super relevant. It is super important and it is super authentic and transparent for you to share these stories. And they don't all have to be overly negative, right? It's a story. It is your story. It is your journey is the word you used. Right? And I would tell all people out there, if you're looking to sell anything, anything, people need to know your journey. Right? I mean, unless you are a Xerox copy salesman and even then as a salesperson, you should probably get to be good at creating a relationship so people get to know your story. Well, how do you frame that story? Who are you? Why do you do it? You know, it's interesting. I would be interested to hear your perspective. I have a lot of people now in the home service space because I have this podcast called Entrepreneur DNA. So I talk to all entrepreneurs. Doesn't matter the vertical, doesn't matter what you do. I'm seeing more home service business owners, roofing, H vac, you name it. They are all over social media with this idea that you're talking about. Who are you? What do you do? Like, hey, I'm on the roof today, slamming hammers, Nether roof sold. Da da da. Like, just telling, just showing. And honestly, those are the same people that, if I had to get a new roof right now, I would be calling that person because I'm watching their journey. I'm, I'm literally experiencing what they do, how they do it. All that kind of stuff makes.

Well, because if people are going to Google, for example, well, that's going to be. SEO is going to be a thing of the past. Pretty soon I'm going to say people are going to chat. Hey, chat. You know, where are the people in my neighborhood that are doing the same thing? But if there are 10 people doing the exact same thing and you don't know any of them and somebody, you go on somebody's website and up pops a video, they say, hey, you know, I'm so glad that you're here. I started this with my dad in the backyard building a tree Fort and da da da da. And I loved creating things and I didn't think I could even grow business of creating this. And here I am 25 years later, helping people get into their dream homes at an affordable price. Because I remember walking into that tree house feeling like it was my dream house, you know, so something like that,

people, and you just created that off the top of your head. That was really good. It's like, you know what you're doing. That'd be great.

I know what I kind of do, you know, And I got the inspiration. I don't know if you've ever heard of Pat Quinn. He is a speaker. I went to, you know, I went to Milwaukee one time. Well, actually, I went to a workshop. He was speaking on stage. He was basically telling me how he was selling me. And next thing I know, at the end of his 30 minute talk, I ran to the back of the room, I paid for a $7,000 public speaking course, flew to Milwaukee the next week, stayed in a hotel for two weeks, or two weeks, two days, I wish two weeks. And did this, you know, Craft yout Signature Talk workshop. And I thought, if he can do that, I want to learn how to do that. So I did it. And it was great. The framework was there, the structure was there. But when I left, I had this feeling, am I there? Am I in the talk? Is this the right talk for me? Is this the talk that's going to connect with my audience? I didn't know how to discern. I was telling a story about leaving my husband and having a drinking problem and breaking through, all of that. But I was like, okay, but I don't want to work with people that are, you know, not drinking anymore. I want to work. And so my story didn't actually connect to my audience, but over the years, I had the structure, I had the framework. I was coaching hundreds of people on how to find their story. And it was really challenging. So one day I. Somebody came into my LinkedIn profile, said, hey, have you considered leveraging AI in your business? I said, yes, I. I have. And he said, well, what are your challenges? I said, I have an idea. I have a structure of a signature talk. I know exactly what to do with it. How do I program a GPT to actually get the soul of somebody's message, to coach them through this process? And he said, here, I have a template. Program this. Do this. So. And then somebody else came in and it was almost like when I put it out there, all the resources were there. I programmed a GPT and I can't even make this shit up. As I was programming the GPT, the GPT told me, tina, you help people find the gold in their life, situations, in their journey, and you turn that gold into magnetic messaging. It told me that. I didn't know I had a gift for storytelling. I knew I liked sharing stories, but I realized people were kind of coming to me because I was telling stories. But I didn't think I could monetize from that. I didn't think people would actually want to craft their signature talk. I didn't think that that was my one thing. And when I read that message, AI, thank you, AI. It's like, oh, my gosh, it's been there all along. I've been hiding behind other people's brands, afraid to show up, thinking, I'm not going to make a difference in somebody's life. Everybody else can, but I can't. And this GPT was like a slap in the face, saying, girl, this is why you're here. This is what you're supposed to be doing. I thought, you know, what effort? Why not let me try? Let me put my hat in the ring and see what happens. And it was just so many people came to me and said, I've been struggling for years. I don't have clarity. I don't know what I'm selling. I know I'm a good coach, but I don't know how to do this. I'm like, here. You can do it in 20 minutes. Like what? Like here, let me go through your LinkedIn profile and send you a mock talk. Like, this is me. This is what I wanted to say. I'm like, I know. I programmed it. Like, oh, my gosh.

What would be a simple framework from this episode? And obviously it's more in depth, but, like, what's a simple framework that you'd tell someone, like, hey, start here, do these two or three things, four or five, whatever you. Whatever the simple framework. What would someone want to go do to start creating story. Creating content around themselves?

Yeah. So the first thing is think about your ideal client and what problems they have right now. That's the first thing. When you know the problem that they're experiencing, then you look in your life and you think about a time when you had the same problem. So hook them in. Have you ever had this? I mean, there's ways to do. I'm just bottom lining it.

Yeah, yeah.

Then have you ever had this experience? And then you go into the story and there's a format for the story, but basically you tell your story, and in the story, you're actually teaching the lesson. This is what I discovered, A, B, and C. So you're not telling them, hey, you should do this. You should do this. You're saying, I didn't realize it was so simple. All I had to do was start creating a storytelling journal. When moments happen in my life, I thought, what's the lesson I learned? Oh, that's a great story. And so when people are. When you say, you should do this or you can do this, people's egos start saying, who are you? Why should you tell me what to do? I don't know if I want to listen to you, but as soon as you say, I did this and I didn't realize I was doing this, now it reframes to, oh, just like me. There's no trigger, there's no emotion. People just say, oh, my gosh, Tina's story is my story. I see myself in her story. And when they see themselves in your story, that builds emotional connection. And then a call to action. Some people think a call to action is, book a call with me, join my program. Maybe a call to action is, hey, why don't you try this in your life? Come back and tell me how it worked. No, you're redirecting them to build a relationship with me, share your life with me. And when people can do that really well, people do come back. People will say, oh, my gosh, I Tried this. It's everything that I do. If I'm educating, entertaining, eliciting emotion, engaging my audience, I do it in a story. And it doesn't have to be a long story. It can just be a short, you know, flipped off at Starbucks today. You know what I did? I bought the damn coffee for the woman and I told my kids, listen, some people are just having a bad day and maybe your act of kindness will get them out of their funk. And that's a little lesson. Oh, man, I overreact. I don't need to tell them they're making their own interpretations, but they will forget what I said. They won't forget that story. So I have people coming on calls with me all the time that say, oh my gosh, I heard the story about your daughter getting into university. I can't believe that she got accepted an hour after she did it. They know, they remember. That is the power of a personal brand. When people say, I hear you, I see you, and I feel like we're

T I N A B R I G L E Y I feel like a rapper as I just did that. Tina Brigley on LinkedIn. So I think what I've seen, and I'll use my perspective, you may have seen something similar. I am not a expert at helping people tell their story, like in the same way you are. But I do try to help people understand the power of a personal brand. Just in a general sense. I get so much put back pushback from people when I say, man, you gotta like, like, no one cares about your company, they care about you. Like, you need to be the one going out there and producing content. That one thing. I don't know. Like, I just talked to someone recently, absolute brilliant. I was like, how much, you know, are you going everywhere with this Instagram tick? He's like, no, I don't really do any of that. And I almost lost it. Like, my head almost exploded. I'm like, what you are doing with helping people understand profitability of their business? Like, he does something totally different. But like, how do you not just talk about all the time on all the platforms? Like you would Crush it. And I don't understand why people do you find that there's a lot of entrepreneurs just that give you pushback. Okay, great. You helped me craft my personal story, but now I got to go do something with it.

Certain operating systems, and I, I don't use the term personality types because we are flexible, right? We're not meant to be stagnant. But there are certain types, the analyzers, I like to call them the very theoretical. They have a problem with trust and intimacy sometimes, right? Like when you're sharing your life out there and you don't trust, you're unconsciously fearful of what people are going to think, what they're going to say, how they're going to relate to you. So what comes off as, yeah, I don't really want to do that, but what it is is always masking a fear. A fear of really being seen and being open. I see this all the time. And so I have to do some personal work with people sometimes to really get underneath where's this coming from. Some people are just like, oh, yeah, I'll share. Yeah, that's their personality is. You know, I call them like the social butterflies or the promoters. Of course they want to put themselves up there. They want to be center stage. But we're all different, and we all have different fears. So one of the things that I say coming down the pipeline right now is an AI clone. Pretty soon, AI is going to be interacting with AI. If it's your content, your message, there's tools out there now where you don't actually have to physically be there, and you can get people to help you with that. Because I, I know those fears sometimes can be really limiting. But when you find a solution, instead of focus on the problem, find a solution to the problem and be committed to just. Again, it circles back to sharing, which is adding value, which is helping people take action. This is our. Our job. This is why we're here on Earth. I. I believe you know, so.

Yeah, I, you know, so funny you said that. I sent my marketing team, I saw an ad, Facebook ad about this AI creation. This guy did a great ad because he was like, literally talking like this, and then right next to him was a monkey talking. The same hand man, like, everything saying the same words. Literally, it was a monkey.

Then it would go to, like, a baby, and then it would go to a woman, and then. And is saying the same thing, same mannerisms. And I'm like, I literally sent to my team, I was like, this is crazy. Would this help you guys. Right. Like, it is. So it's the same thing. You literally aren't you. So you could create an avatar of a female of Justin Colby, and her name is Jasmine Colby. With my story, my everything. And I don't have to feel away because they're looking at Jasmine, not Justin Colby. Right. Like, anyways, I think it is the

idea because why you can. You can clone yourself so you can. Actually, I'm in the process of doing it right now, taking videos, different angles. So I program my stuff. It's me, but it's AI me. It looks like me, it talks like me, it sounds like me, it moves like me. And I believe in the next 12 to 24 months, AI is going to be interacting with AI. More people are going to adopt this. And I'm excited about it because I know it's my content, but I can actually not be like.

So it gives you a level of removal. Right. For. For those like you and I, obviously it's easy for us to kind of based on experience in the personality types. Creating content for you and me are probably not that hard. It's easy for us to do these recordings. For a lot of people it's not. But even what you're saying, you record yourself, it goes into AI. There's this, the gap between them judging you or not really judging you, because it's not. It's you, but it's kind of a fake you with your story and then all you need to do is post it and there's no real judgment because you didn't. Anyways.

I believe psychologically it gives a lot of the people who have fear, this gap between like really getting judged themselves versus some AI getting judged. And it allows them to feel more free to do it. Yeah, I think that's going to be really powerful. But then the other thing I would all at least ask you, I feel like then the people like you and me, people are going to lean into us because people want connection. I. I believe the people that lean into that will do great.

But then if you're able to create more human connection, you will do better.

You know what? I. I agree 100%. That's why a lot of the things that I do, even though it's easier to do workshops online, I get offline, I go in my community, I do talks all the time because I want people to feel me. I want to do more live events and get people in the room. But a lot of people are so accustomed to being online now, it's inconvenient for them to leave their house. They're so used to being behind a screen. For me, being behind a screen for the last, I don't know, since 2017, it's like, I just need off for a second. Like, I just need to feel a person's energy. I need to see them, I need to hold their hand, give them a hug, you know, But I, I do, I do like the, the online. But, yeah, I. We can't lose the human touch. We can't lose the human connection. I.

Well, it's. It goes back to the story, right? If your story isn't given, there's no connectivity, there's no connective issue. Like, Tina is the. The expert at helping people craft stories to engage clientele to grow a bigger business. Awesome. But if no one knows Tina's through story, which, all of you should go back and listen to it. Like, it wasn't pretty. It wasn't easy. She made it through difficult times. You have a similar story. And that will help you get confident, by the way, because it's congruent. What I believe, and maybe you see this when you're working with your clients is like when people are trying to mask stuff, like cover over the difficult stuff. And you can almost energetically tell, like, it's not congruent with who they are and what they're going through and their message. It's like, shut that off, right? Because you're actually repelling. People can see it, People can feel it. It's. It's obvious.

Your energy speaks before you do. And people, it translates on. It translates online, too. And if you don't believe in what you're selling, if you don't believe in what you're doing, you cannot fake that. You cannot get up there and fake like, oh, yeah, you know, I'm this great coach and People will feel it and they might not always know what is going on, but I don't, I don't buy that. You know, funny story. Of course, you know, I'm going to tell a story. But when I was part of the other business, right, we worked with a PR company to like grow all of our social media profiles. And they're like, this is organic. We only do this, this, this. But next thing I knew, it was like I had. I went from 5,000 followers to 10,000. 30, 40, 50, 100, 120. 130 Thousands of comments. I'm like, what the heck? What are you guys doing back there? Yeah, we paid $40,000. Soon as we stop paying nothing, Crickets. And I say to people, buyer beware. People can buy anything. If you have money, you can buy. I'm in Forbes, USA Today. Thrive Global, Global Woman. Yeah, when you have money, you can pay for it. It's not always earned. It's not always. I had clients that were in Forbes with me. I'm like, what? I know their story. They haven't even created a client yet. And here they are on a Forbes article. So authenticity shines through. When you're authentic, you can't fake that. And I. People shun me all the time. They're like, don't tell people that don't, like, listen. One thing you can count on me for I don't care. I don't need to look good. I have given up looking good. I don't give a rat's ass. I am going to be real. And if people don't like it, I really don't care because my people do. And that's all I care about. I don't care about repelling people. I care about attracting the right people. And I want people to know. Stop comparing yourself to what you think people are creating online because most of it is smoke and mirrors. It's not really real.

You win either way, right? You repel the people who aren't your tribe. You bring the people who are closer to you, right? And so you're going to win either way. And it's important for people to understand, you know, Tina, your expertise is helping them create the message to attract the right people. And so if you're listening to this and you're an entrepreneur or an aspiring entrepreneur and you're trying to fit, like, get a hold of Tina on LinkedIn because it is really important. After, you know, 17 years in business, I had a friend, an older brother, type in mentor. Like, he just said, cut it off. Like just go be authentic. And I had to learn that. And I could have learned it earlier. And so hopefully most of you are hearing what she says is you are going to repel the wrong people and it bring in the right people through a your story, but then also how you communicate your story. Yeah, right. Like how you communicate is really, really important. Right. Because it'll also again, repel the people or bring them towards you. So learning that level of communicating your story is going to be really imperative.

Well, I had an experience one time where I was hosting a workshop. We had 500 people sign up for the workshop. We had 300 people in the room. And right before I knew it was performance, you know when you have to follow the script. And I told my business partners, this is not going to land. I know what lands. It's storytelling. We've skipped the storytelling. And they kept saying, no, no, no, we don't need to do that. No, people just want facts. People want. And I knew in my heart, but I didn't say anything. I was just, okay, if you guys think so, workshop. All that time and energy to fill that room. We booked two calls and got zero sales. And it's because it doesn't matter who you're talking to. People think, oh, it's an executive coaching workshop. It's a business workshop. It's a this. You're still talking to human beings. Human beings connect through stories. It doesn't matter what their job title is or what you know, if they're a multi million dollar billion dollar executive, I don't care who's in the room. You are a human being. And human beings are not immune to connecting with stories even if they're super successful. And I learned that lesson because I want people to know the difference between performance and actual like purpose. When you speak into your purpose and you believe in what you're selling, your energy sells before anything else. Your story sells before anything else. And you don't have to memorize anything, you don't have to perform anything because it's your story. And when you can do that, it flows. There's nothing to figure out except share what you already know. And it's become simple too. And I've done workshops before where I felt, ugh, this is icky. I don't even want to do this. And then I went through the motions, smiled. People could feel it. People would that knew me after the workshop, said, what's wrong with you today? Was not yourself. You were not yourself. They know.

It feels formulaic, feels transactional, feels robotic. Right. Like it's just not congruent. People don't want it. They don't want it anymore. For sure. It goes back to that connectivity portion. Right? And your storytelling. Like, people want to know they have a tribe. Right? We are all so lonely these days. They want to know who's my tribe where? Where can I find a tribe? Who can I be? A tribe who can I be? A tribe member of their tribe. Like you. Ask what you want. If you're struggling in the same way I was, maybe you're scared to break through and be authentic.
