So someone did ask me about this the other day. They were like, are they still gonna do walk and talk?

I do love that people like that, but I hate that people are like, you know what my favorite thing you do is the walk and talk. And I'm like, dude, I do 65 hours of content. And the favorite thing of mine is the 60 seconds of work that I do leaving a game that is a total half baked. Take that. I have no idea what I'm actually talking about because I haven't watched the film.

You know what? Maybe we stumbled into something. Maybe the content we put the least amount of effort into is what. It's what does best for us.

[Brooks]

I don't like that revelation. I do not like that revelation at all.

We got first round talk. We're gonna talk about Georgia Bulldogs that could end up working their way into the first round, apart from the obviouss going into the season. And we have, as you can tell by the title of tonight's video, early fall camp winners. All right. It is still, still anonymous coach quote season.

[D]

I think it's. I think this is its last stand.

[Brooks]

I think we'll get another edition of this during the season at some point there's always that pre championship weekend. Remember because that was when the lad Makoni can't even fit into his jersey quote came out right before the SEC championship game.

[D]

But that's like most a good amount of team seasons has ended like by the time you get through the regular season like you're already looking and MFers

[Brooks]

just be yapping towards the end of the season for sure. MFers are yapping right now. So what they've been yapping about Kirby.

[D]

So Gunner Stockton was.

[Brooks]

By the way, I got coaches coaches yapping tonight too.

[D]

So go ahead.

So Gunner Stockton was the subject of these yappings. I think that ESPN did an entire source or article based on just what different coaches are saying about quarterbacks across the country. And obviously Gunner Stockton being a quarterback for one of the more prominent teams in America was on this list. And some not glowing reviews were given from SEC coaches. The first quote, he runs it better than you think. He's really smart, pretty accurate. I don't think he's got unbelievable arm talent but pretty good. Okay, okay, next quote. And this is the, this is the second. There are only two. He's a great college quarterback. He's tough. So he can get some bull yards and take some big hits and all that stuff. I really like him. He's a really good player. I don't know if he's an NFL specimen but he's a great college player. Valid.

[Craig]

I think that actually is the perfect synopsis of Gunner Stockton if I had to give one.

[D]

Yeah, I mean it's. He is not a NFL quarterback we believe but by God, when Saturdays come. I don't know if there's many other quarterbacks you would want leading your team. Sure there's guys that probably have more arm talent or probably bigger names or bigger bodies and or better builds but I very happy with the fact that number 14 is my quarterback.

[Brooks]

All right, I got some. You want them?

[Brooks]

Yeah, I think I got five. Here we go. Winner. Great frame, quick release, accurate passer. Best in short and intermediate, but can still get to the verticals. Just can lack some juice at times. More mobile than you'd think. Tough game isn't too fast for him. He can process but I do think he can break down after his second read at times.

[Craig]

So this is interesting because the quick release part which is something that side eyed that one.

[Brooks]

And then also I don't necessarily Agree.

[Craig]

The lacks juice. Lacks some juice at times.

[Brooks]

I think he's talking about as a passer.

[Craig]

Yeah.

[D]

I think he's talking about like arm strength from that.

[Craig]

But I think Gunner has a pretty good arm strength.

[Brooks]

Yeah. I think you throw it through a

brick wall, that dude could rifle it.

Yeah. Maybe in the, the deep ball area.

I, I don't know. I mean, it makes like any coach I feel like is going to give like there's nothing spectacularly crazy about Gunner Stockton, but damn it, he wins.

[Brooks]

Oh, man, the Bobo haters are going to love this one. Good player has been really productive. Don't know if they play to his strengths as much as they should. Good player, but nothing to ride home about.

[Craig]

Well, then my question to that person would just be, what do you think his strengths are?

[Brooks]

I think toughness and running the football.

[D]

Yeah.

[Brooks]

Having had conversations with this football coach about this previously, that is what he was referring to. I know that.

[Craig]

Okay.

[Brooks]

Well, by the way, these are, it should go without saying these are all people outside of the building do not coach for the University of Georgia. So.

[D]

But it's also funny. It's like you saw like everyone talks like the big hits Gunner Stockton was taking. If I'm a coach, if I'm Mike Bobo, if I'm Kirby Smart and I'm on the film, if in the film room on Sunday and I see my quarterback taking those hits on the run in the passing game, I'm not giving him 11 carries a game because he can't take all of those. Like it's, it's incredible watching him get like, look like he got shot by a 50 cal and get up. But at the same point, I don't need you taking two or three of those a game.

[Craig]

I would also say too like considering, and I think that they're better suited this year than they were last year. But considering what Georgia does have in the running back room, I don't really know that I need Gunner Stockton to be inserted too much in the run game but still want to utilize him because it helps. It helps your run game even more when you show that he is a threat in the run game, which everybody knows at this point he is.

[Brooks]

Also, we're 18 months into the experience of Gunner Stockton being the known starting quarterback and we still don't know if he has a suitable backup right now, let alone last year. Last year if he got hurt, their whole season was blown to smithereens.

[D]

Absolutely.

[Brooks]

So that was part of the reason why I don't think they quote unquote used him to his strengths as much as he should. Another coach said, what's up?

[D]

I was saying, yeah, I mean, like, he doesn't need it like, as much as everyone says, like, oh, he can be a Riley Leonard type thing where we're just going to run him into the ground if we need to. Like, first drive of the national championship where he's got eight carries, he can barely breathe, and his old linemen are carrying him back to the huddle. Like, you don't need to do that to Gunner Stockton because we don't know what's behind Gunner Stockton. If Gunner Stockton's out, you might have some trouble just because of the. We don't know what the quarterbacks are behind him.

[Craig]

You just get another one?

[Brooks]

No, no. I just got an email from the SID department. It says Expecting at 11:30 tomorrow. Expecting Glenn Schuman, Mike Bobo, plus other assistants.

[D]

Interesting.

[Brooks]

So my guess would be Kirk Benedict and Todd Hartley.

[D]

I will be there.

[Brooks]

Todd Harley's my favorite coach to listen to at a press conference, bar none. He. He brings the absolute juice to that place. Another coach said, quote, he's an above average SEC starter. Top six in the league.

[D]

Okay, yeah, that's. I'm fine with that. Six is like. Are you saying he's six then? Probably.

[Craig]

If you're not saying top five, it probably means you're saying he's sixth, which I arch.

[D]

Fine. Trinidad, you can name John Mateer. Who are there.

[Craig]

Maybe they're still high on Lenoris.

[Brooks]

Maybe they mentioned Trinidad.

Yeah, but the audience is completely left out in the win there. Good, good tough player. Good player. Not sure what. He's great at football. He's a great football player.

Delivering in the moment you need. There was never. There was.

[Brooks]

Nobody mentioned that, by the way.

[D]

There was. And I don't get like it. Maybe that's just something you don't pay attention to when coaching and looking at schematics and mechanics and all these things. There was never a moment on Saturday where it felt like from the moment he touched the field where it's like, you know what? This moment is too big for Gunner Stockton right now. I mean, he was down two scores in Knoxville, Tennessee for his first SEC road start and found a way to win that football game. He's like, I don't have to continue going over the reasons why. Gunner Stockton has already proven like there is never a moment that's too big for him. That's what he does great. And frankly that that's one of the more important traits there is because you can be the most accurate quarterback, you can be the most talented, but you will find yourself down in games and you will find yourself in high pressure moments. And if you can't deliver to your best at that point, you're not a great quarterback.

[Craig]

Well, I remember, I can't even remember who wrote it, but I remember reading an ESPN article and it was like putting college quarterbacks this year in other categories. And I think that, oh yeah, Gunner Stockson got put in the Drew Aller category because didn't show up in the big biggest moments, like in the biggest games, you didn't show up.

I don't think people realize just how good Gunnar Stockton was in the second half. But in the fourth quarter, specifically last season had the highest completion rate of anybody in the country last year in the fourth quarter I had like a whole bunch of stats in this article basically saying he is completely misunderstood from a national perspective. And I think people really over like because I think this is probably what happens like if you don't watch Georgia on a regular basis because you're not a Georgia fan. I think probably what you assume is, oh, Georgia was in a bunch of tight games last year going into the fourth quarter. Well, it's because they're able to run the ball. Like they're just really good at closing out games, defense, run the ball, chew clock. That's why they were able to plot some big wins. But if you actually watch the games, it was Gunner Stockton showing up in some massive moments in multiple games last year. And yes, were they able to lean on the run game? Absolutely. They, they certainly improved in that area from the 2024 season. But it was Gunnar Stockton making some timely plays down the stretch that really allowed Georgia to put themselves in positions to put the game away.

[Brooks]

I think at least one of those coaches hit on that with the winner aspect of this. Obviously what he was alluding to. Guy wins football games and does it late, which is football games.

[D]

Correct me if I'm wrong, the most important trait in any quarterback.

[Brooks]

Yeah. Like how big are you in the big moments?

[D]

Accuracy. Fine, that's important. Ability to read defenses, that's important. But if you are a winner and if you can play your best when the moment requires you to I would take that over A perfect prototypical build for quarterback who you know is just average like this.

[Craig]

It's.

It's why Stetson Bennett is the legend he is because when you needed him to and Those from the 21 to 22 season when you need him to he delivered like the mailman delivers. Was a quote because of the way he played in big moments.

[Brooks]

All right, let's do it this way. First and foremost, Craig Dangerge going to play this year. Good play this year. Going to be an impactful football player for you this year. As are the the following freshmen. Zakai Helton is a known Kaden Prothro is a known I just talked about Craig Danger. I think Kamari Brooks, friend of the show is going to play a lot this year as well as is Tyree Boogie Green. I think Boogie plays a lot on special teams and then late in the season kind of has like a Dinkins type role at some point. Still somebody's job. But it looks to me like the older guys are siphoning through the safety spot right now and we're just trying to get Boogie onto the field at some point. Because Terrence Pinnock, a football player that they flipped from Coastal Carolina is going to play at some point in his Georgia career. And I think when a lot of people heard that late in the cycle they're like, oh, Georgia's just grasping at straws no, that's a dude. He's going to play football at the University of Georgia. Chris Peel, an uncommitted football player out of Roswell High School.

Former DB Nick Peel is going to play at the University of Georgia at some point down the road, I would imagine. And then my mentions have been blown up with people talking about Trey Shields. Pump the brakes, you Jeremy Bell fans. Pump the brakes. Okay, here's what I was told and here's what I believe. Trey Shields was a football player who played one year of high school football.

And he has already shown through fall camp, didn't play in spring, got here in the summer, has already shown through fall camp that he's a good football player, he belongs at the University of Georgia. And that by alone. That alone is an absolute home run by the scouting and development department. Like the idea that they found a guy that played one year of high school football and he's good enough to at least look like he belongs at a Georgia football program is great. Stop asking me if he's going to play the show. I don't think he's. I think it's a little bit too much considering what they have in that room already at the wide receiver position.

Always good for one of those, though, during fall camp and spring practice as well, of getting really excited about a player that was under the radar. Hear one inkling about him is like, this is it. Here's another one. We got another one. Like you might have.

I still get asked about Jeremy Bell still to this day. They're like, all right, is Jeremy Bell going to earn some playing time?

I mean, they are kind of. I mean, they're. I don't want to say they're at fault for that one themselves, but I mean, that dude does kind of ball in the spring games. Like they kind of do it to themselves with that one.

Because Jeremy Bell is a good football player, but there's also other really good football players.

far in that class at the offensive line position alone. Zakai Hilton and Ekin Yak Boko.

Does he force his way into that eight?

When Gunner's out there in the second quarter when they're up 35 to nothing and they're running the Football. Eken Yagboko will get burned.

So in other words, within three weeks of the season, he might have pushed somebody out the door.

In other words, what you're saying is if Ernest Green or Juan Gaston went down in a game as tackles, it would be Jaw Jackson first and then it would be Echanog Boco for now. Yes.

But they are, I think internally, because they're a big ceiling football program too, because they know they're going to, they know they're going to play well into December. They hope to be playing well into January. And you do have to forecast, hey, by January, this might be our best option. And the best option might be Ernest Green playing right tackle and him playing left tackle and Juan Gaston playing guard. Whatever the rotation is, you have to forecast that for football players that are this immediately talented because you have no earthly idea what they're going to turn into six months from now.

[Brooks]

Seven months from now. Especially when again, the ceiling on this football player is tremendous. I mean, we saw that the difference between his junior and senior tape was night and day in high school. So that type of stuff is only compounding during the fall camp periods and spring practice periods. Who y' all got?

[D]

I went in a direction of more players that really boosted their stock, but we had high stock on them already. Everything I've heard about this guy is that he's gotten even better, which is great because from year to year it sounds like he's continuously improved his game. Nate Frazier seems to have added another wrinkle, another layer to his game that makes him, gives him the potential to be one of the best running backs in the SEC this season. I'm very excited based on everything I've heard coming from camp and spring and all that stuff, I'm going to put

[Craig]

this guy as a winner just for the fact of he is actually out there competing and he looks like he's going to be a really good football player. Justice Fitzpatrick, I mean, you talked about the other night, Brooks, of just how insane that injury was that he suffered his senior year of high school. Didn't see. Like, when you see that, you're probably all right, that's going to be a guy that in year two, we're going to see what he's made of. Nope. Fall camp. He's here. And it looks like Georgia got themselves again another really good football player in their secondary.

I mean, I think that he deserves to be on this list just from the fact that he's coming back from the injury that he suffered as quickly as he did. I mean, that was what, December? That he blew his knee out and he's already pretty much fully back.

He didn't. I don't think he took too many reps Sunday.

But no, he's. He's out there in a. He's not in a non contact jersey and he's out there running around, which.

He is built different. Another player that I have on this list, I don't think people appreciate how hard it is to come in, lock a spot down on defense and it be yours. Your first year of the transfer portal and everything that we've heard about Khalil Barnes is that he's done just that. He is a professional through and through. Yeah, I get it. He started three years at Clemson. That's another program that has, you know, really, really good prestige. Being able to come into Georgia like Tyke Smith didn't even do this before his injury. He had not locked down a spot. Khalil Barnes basically, from everything I understand was the second he stepped foot in Athens was all right. You're the star. We know what you are. You are, you are our guy. And I think that is. He's a big winner for that.

I think that Terrell Foster is a winner. I think that that is absolutely should be labeled as a winner of fall camp.

Like for me personally like. And this isn't a knock against Terrell Foster because as we just started talking about, like sometimes you find players that weren't highly ranked, maybe weren't ranked at all. Georgia gets them on campus and they turn out being way better than their ranking was and Georgia finds a hit there. But the fact that it's not just that Terrell Foster has managed to find snaps on this football team, but it's the fact that he's continued to hold off guy other guys, other really talented football players to find snaps for him on this field. Like we know about Chris Cole and Raylan Wilson and Justin Williams is next in line there. But there's so many good linebackers in that room and the fact that Terrell Foster has not only stuck around on this roster, but the fact that he's again earning playing time there, that's a winner for him.

[D]

And I would say for that reason, George is kind of winner in fall camp because a guy like Terrell Foster has made Justin Williams a whole lot better. I mean he's probably made Chris Colbert. He's. But he was there before him. So like the impact that guys like that have on the rest of your team from a leadership standpoint, from an effort standpoint. And by the way, it sounds like he's made a couple of really good plays this offseason. I think Terrell Foster is absolutely 1000%

[Brooks]

a winner from and looks high bald headed. So that's a win. Because most of us men don't so good on him.

[D]

I'll be there one day.

bolden's kind of a winner from the, from the aspect of the end of the 2024, excuse me, 2025 season. Our perception on KJ Bolden was really, really good. Safety has another layer to add to his game heading into fall camp. And this is all just projections and then, you know, mock drafts and everything. But KJ Bolden is safety one on everyone's boards. Like he is probably a first round draft pick without what we feel like is reaching his full potential. Right. I think that makes him a winner alone. Maybe not from a hey, he got so much better in fall camp. It sounds like he's playing at an elite level right now, but from the aspect of this entire, you know, six, seven month offseason period, you have been built up as safety one like you are. It is your job to lose as a first round draft pick now.

[Craig]

I mean, it's certainly a bonus to like have people talking about you like that going into a season now. I mean, we, we still have to back that up. Like we still have to go out there and actually prove that we are the best safety in the country. And KJ has all the talent in the world to do that and certainly has the capability to do that this season as well. Especially when you think about all the surrounding pieces. Like this is what should excite everybody about KJ Bolden this season. I've kind of talked about it a little bit, but now that we actually have some words that kind of back up this statement. Based on what happened in the scrimmage the other day, based on the reporting that you gave yesterday, Brooks, KJ Bolden is going to be able to play the freest he ever has in his entire career. Like, this is going to be the best ver like KJ got to do this a little bit when he was a true freshman because you had Malachi Starks and you had Dan Jackson and you had other great DBs around you that allowed you to play freely. But you're still a freshman. Like you're still maybe a little hesitant to do some things. You're still learning. This is going to be the best version of KJ Bolden that Georgia has ever gotten. And it comes in a season in which you have Khalil Barnes, you have Ellis Robinson, you have Demello Jones and whoever plays next to him, it's not going to matter. I think KJ Bolden plays best when he is going to be like this, when he is just not thinking. He's just cutting it loose, tackling like he does and making plays. He was a playmaker for Buford coming out of high school. I think you're finally going to see that because of what they have around him.

I think it's a good transition into our NFL topic. I also think that you guys are big winners for fall camps because you got approved for all your credentials.

I have Chris Cole absolutely on my list and I think like, they're not the same player, but I could absolutely see them having similar trajectories where they don't really flourish until year three. And it's kind of. They are just an everything guy. I think Chris Cole's trajectory can very much match that of Jalen Walker where it's. Yeah, this is a really, it's a good linebacker for us the first two years, but just because of what our personnel and our roster looks like now we have to kind of push them and push ourselves as coaches to use him differently. I think Chris Cole can absolutely skyrocket.

[Brooks]

If Arvo Reese was a consensus top five pick, then Chris Cole should be a consensus top ten pick.

[D]

Yeah.

[Brooks]

I mean, that's just the way I think about this.

Well, it's, it's. Do you take it in different draft classes and all that thing? But you're right, like from a talent aspect, if the town is worthy of top five. Chris Cole is absolutely.

RV Reese really played one season as a starter.

Chris Cole is going to play basically two and a half as a dude. I mean, they rolled him out as a true freshman to play in the slot and cover.

I felt nervous correcting you on football. That's a hot take in the national sense because I don't feel like Chris Cole has really made the wow plays to be. Or has the wow stats become a commodity.

But now I will say this. It's popped up on my timeline a little bit so far. The NFL draft experts are already spreading the propaganda. They're already throwing it out there like,

hey, just Pro Football Network hadn't got the spoon yet.

I guess not. But like other guys that I've seen on social media, it's like, hey, this Chris Cole guy, he's going to end up being the best linebacker in this class. Like he's going to have a stellar third year and he's going to be the best linebacker.

Yeah. So I. I don't think that's a crazy hot take. And I think it's. You're absolutely right that he will be a first round pick. Don't be surprised if he's the first first round pick. Georgia.

[Brooks]

Now I've already got this guy in the top 60 because I think this highly of him. But if Demelo Jones has the year that I think he's about to have and goes to the NFL combine at 6 to 205 pounds and runs 4, 3, 8, which is very plausible, look out. It might be a 31st overall selection.

[Craig]

Yeah. I mean, what's. What could end up happening though, Especially if both of George's DBs, that being Ellis and Demelo have like really good years and they both enter the draft. Like last year we got into the conversation of how crowded the top of the cornerback class was. You might get into a similar situation this year as well. I guess. Again, if Demelo and Ellis are really good, everybody knows about Leonard Moore. I mean, this could very quickly get crowded to the point of there's just not enough slots for these guys all to go in the first round.

[Brooks]

Yeah, but weren't there four corners taken in the first round this year?

[Craig]

I think so.

Well, you're right that like the measurables alone like the the prototypical like great corner I think is Kamari Lasseter. He measured in under six feet. He was 186. Like to mellow Jones from a size aspect is way better of a prospect on field play to be determined. But if he can utilize his tackling abilities like Kamari Lassard and he can become a very much locked down corner, you're absolutely right. He could very well play his way and test his way into a first round.

[Craig]

There's only two.

Kamari had two things going against him. One, everybody in the NFL wrongfully so was like ah, he might have to bump into the nickel. He's 511. So that went against him as well. And he ran a 4 5. So those things alone were like oh my God, we can't draft what is about to be one of the best 15 corners in the NFL.

Ceci didn't officially run at the combine.

[Craig]

Maybe a pro day for him. I can't remember.

Yeah, but no, you're right. He was viewed as under and his lack of production was like oh, where's the interceptions here?

It's like the coach, they didn't throw at him. They were smart. Avoid that guy. Go after the third round draft pick on the other side.

What about a case for like Raylan? Is it there? What is more importantly, what would he have to do in your eyes?

We got to make a massive leap and we have to be the best player on the field at all, at all times. Win the Buckus award, do all of it.

If he won the buckets award, would that do it? Would that push the needle?

CJ was the first round draft pick. The Kobe wasn't the first round draft pick.

But see, like Jacob Rodriguez wasn't a first round draft pick.

Like, I don't think Raylan has physical limitations like CJ did, though.

Here's, here's what I'll say for as much as we give credit to the year three bump, which I think that Raylan Wilson had a bump in his production. Year three, the year four linebacker, and you know, it's not nearly as prevalent. They don't have that much like smile. Monday came back for a year four and yes, it was hindered by injuries, but I, I don't feel like year three and year four like there was another jump. Like we got the year three jump and after that was like year four is like smile. Money is a finished product playing college football. I wonder from it, maybe from a recognition standpoint how much better Raylan's gonna get. But I even then, like, if he's recognizing Blaze Barrett, he's got better instincts. I don't know if that's enough to earn a first round draft.

I got a guy who's going 1:1 at his position.

Not that Gabe isn't really athletic and wouldn't do the same, but for instance, because I know what people would immediately say about a guy like Quintavius is, oh, I didn't have the sack production. He doesn't have the sack production. He's not going to go in the first round. And I know who I'm about to say, so I, I know I might sound a little crazy, but I mean, Mikel Williams does not have sack production either. But yet he went to the NFL combine and blew everybody away. Quintavius Johnson is not going to perform like Mikel Williams did the NFL combine. But I'm just saying there is a world where it happens in it's like, you know what? Quintavius Johnson ended up being the 30th overall pick.

Well, for Oscar Del, all it really took to be a second round draft pick was like one clip against Kentucky.

And I know you're asking more like statistical production questions about what would it take. It doesn't take all that much when you're that traitsy. He is that Tracy. I would argue he is more athletic from a raw data point standpoint than even Oscar was. And Oscar was a 452 runner at 245 pounds. This kid's going to be a 449 runner at the NFL combine at 240 pounds like he is. He is all of that. But no, he is going to have a couple end arounds this year. They go for 45 yards and people are going to buy. What in the is this?

[Craig]

And that's why I think that it was at least worth having the discussion because I think you could really build Jaden Riddell first round argument portfolio by the end of the year if it does turn out being what we think it will be when it like if he has three 45 yard plus end arounds and they look like they did in the spring game and then he adds on 400 yards receiving while also having like 200 something yards on the ground or something stupid like that. Like I think there is A path to where? Like if in a crazy world where it could be an argument at least,

and this may or may, I feel like this plays a factor. The fact that Brock Bowers was a tight end at Georgia very recently and comparatively speaking will do favors for your draft stock because, oh, what that play looks like. You know, when, when Brock Bowers did that happened, it shouldn't happen. I get it. But it will play a factor. The last player that I'm throwing a name out there, and I don't think this one is a first round draft pick, but if he has just a nuclear season, is there any world where Nate Frazier is maybe RB2? Or even if it's a really, really stacked class, RB3?

[Craig]

So my first thing would be, how healthy is Ahmad Hardy? What does his season end up looking like? Is he 100% healthy going into the NFL draft? If that's a yes, then you already have two running backs ahead of him. Like already you have Kewan and you have Ahmaud Hardy. Depends on the season that Jaden Baugh has, right? There's so many factors here that play into it. Like it almost is more important about what do other people in the running back class do as opposed to what is Nate Frazier going to do?

[D]

Yeah, I mean, it's a very stacked class. I don't think Nate Frazier will be a first round draft pick, but if we get to a position where it's like, hey, this guy might be RB3 and it just falls that way, like you could see him sneak into like a 31st or a 32nd pick possibly.

[Brooks]

So what are we going to learn? I've got. What is this? Seven questions that I hope to have an answer of by the time we break those tapes down. Because we will. We'll break those tapes down. You should know that by now, especially listening to the local hour. We are in the middle of up to something season. It's about to come to a close. You're going to hear some announcements on this. Moving forward, you should know that nothing is changing around here. No allegiances, no dedication to content is changing around here. Nothing is changing. And I know that gets a real sensitive topic around Georgia folks because y' all are worried that we're just gonna up and leave this place. News flash will never happen. Okay? We will always dedicate half of our time to the University of Georgia. You guys made this place. I've been very adamant about that. In all discussions with all companies, whoever came around, they were like, hey, what do you think about not, not even a debate, not happening. So we will always break down Georgia games. It'll always be on this network, so you have no reason to ever be concerned about that. And we will always have this here local hour for you guys to thoroughly enjoy. So don't ever, ever, ever worry about that. But, yeah, what can we learn about those first two games, boys? I think there's an obvious one, right?

Yeah, the first. The first question is, Georgia's gonna be up by a lot. They're gonna have the twos in. Who goes in first at QB2 and what do they look like? And for that matter, what does QB3 look like when it goes in? Because that is a massive question that's revolving around Athens right now, not only for this year, but for 20, 27 of, hey, QB2 right now is probably in position to be QB1, should that happen.

[Craig]

So I think the biggest thing that I would be paying attention to is not even like QB2 and QB3, but in my mind, if this is how it's structured for the first two weeks. If, for instance, Ryan Puglisi is the second quarterback out in the first week and he gets a bunch of reps and then Ryan Montgomery comes in and he's just kind of handing the ball off, doing the typical thing that QB3s do. And then the next week it's Ryan Montgomery who comes out second, and then it's Ryan Puglisi who comes in after that. That, to me, indicates that it's a tight race that they think that both of these guys could end up being QB2 for them this season, and they truly want to get a real answer on who it's going to be. If it's the same guy both times in both games that rolls out there, then that means they already have their answer and it's not as close as maybe as we thought.

[D]

I agree. I think that's something you definitely learn.

[Brooks]

Who's got pass rush potential?

[D]

That's my second question because I don't

[Brooks]

know who's playing tackle for Tennessee State, but I bet they're beatable. I bet they're beatable. God, I hope they're beatable. If not cause for concern.

[Craig]

Yeah, I mean, it was last year against Austin P where we really got a good look at Chris Cole as a pass rusher. Now, I know he didn't really capitalize on all of his opportunities last year, had some misses in the backfield, but that was kind of where you got the idea of like, who's going to provide life here? Oh, Chris Cole can do it.

[D]

I think that I'm not necessarily worried about what Chris Cole can Provide. I think we, we assume he's going to be your. Who's the next guy there? Who's the second guy that's going to be able to provide pass rush, who's going to give us some interior push that can force the pocket upon the quarterback's feet. That's more what I'm worried about now. Like, Chris Cole is going to be Chris Cole. I think that, that we have an expectation he's gonna be a really good pass rush.

[Craig]

I was just saying this is going to set the precedents for Chris Cole this season. I was saying last year this is where we saw Chris Cole as a pass rusher in these games of like, okay, what are you doing right now?

[Brooks]

I'm scrolling to the bottom of my photo album for some reason. It was all the way to the top.

[Craig]

Yeah, I'm sure if you just exit out of the app.

[Brooks]

Tried. Tried. Didn't work. I'm just making sure my video is downloaded like they're supposed to because we already got clips coming in from our Clippers. Just clip farming, you know, just out here trying to do my job. What are you doing?

I was doing my job and I was distracted by you doing your job apparently, which.

But yeah, just in general. Like, again, who's providing extra pass rush? Maybe we see like seeing some more. Zaden Walker didn't get to see him in the spring game this year. Like, has he added some more wrinkles to his game? Like, those are the things to pay attention to in that room.

[D]

Next question I have is, who who's going to be RB3 here and how are the running backs used? We. We knew the roles that they had last year where it was Nate, Chauncey Cash is your third down guy and then everyone else is kind of like Josh McCrazer short yards guy. We don't know who your short yardage running back is right now. We don't know who your hey, we need someone out of the backfield running back is. We don't know how Dwight Phillips is going to fit into the offense. We don't know what Bill Walker's gonna look like. We don't really know what the depth of is behind Nate and Chauncey. You're going to get a good amount of answers there.

[Craig]

So this the you talking about how Bo Walker is going to have to play this year. My mind immediately goes to that's a short yardage guy or that is a guy that you're saying no n he's

[Brooks]

he's going to get like traditional. We have to get him carries. Carries.

[Craig]

Okay.

[Brooks]

But yeah, it could be a short, short yardage answer. I think the short yardy's answer is probably Chauncey. Just big.

[D]

Yeah.

[Brooks]

So much bigger. But now with the way that Nate ran the football the other day, he's. He's got to get predominant carries and then everybody else is fighting for scraps is the way I would do it. But they might have different thought processes on their own team. They don't do that.

[D]

They haven't had a urb one. No one else since 2019 with DeAndre Swift.

[Brooks]

Yeah, I think my. One of my biggest question is how do they use Kaden Prothro? Because in the spring he was used as a predominantly a slot receiver during the G day scrimmage and then throughout camp. We've seen him actually working with tight ends a little bit. I've seen him take reps with the, with the slot receivers. How are they using that football player and where do they continue to use him as he gets bigger? I would imagine he continues to get bigger. I don't know how, but I would imagine he continues to get larger.

[Craig]

I guess another obvious answer is safety number two. Like, I think, I think the general.

[Brooks]

KJ's partner.

[Craig]

The general assumption, I think is people expect it to be Zion Branch to start and then they'll just continue to rotate guys in obviously. But I mean there's. There's a lot of names you can choose from a lot of good names, too. That's a really intriguing, like, that's a good battle and a good, almost a good unanswered question I have right now because I think going into last year it was obviously a question of who's going to play next to kj. And I don't think people typically loved the answers that were being provided. But I think that this year it's a whole different story of. I don't think you're really concerned about who ultimately wins that job at all. I think that no matter who the answer is there, you're going to feel completely safe.

[D]

Yeah, I didn't have this as a question. It's going to be answered for me because I, I don't think we'll ever get an answer to that question. I don't think that there is a, a body or a player that will take up the safety opposite from KJ position. I think it will just be who's there right now is Zion there is Jamali Riddle there is Kyron Jones there like Name the player. Are they There is boogie there. Like, I don't know if anyone hammers down that spot. Very similar. And I've used this comparison before to the way that the nickel position was used in 2021. They were rotating buys. Sometimes it was Dan Jackson, sometimes it was Latavius Brini. They had William Poole playing in the Natty like, it was. Whoever we have at that position right now that we feel like can play in this moment. I feel like that's what you're going to get, the safety position. It just so happens that a lot of those guys are seemingly damn good football players. It's not going to be a by committee because we have to, but a by committee because all of them can do different things very well.

[Brooks]

Is there a gamer at wide receiver?

[D]

That's what I want to find out, too, because we. We got our answer very quickly last year. Like, all right, Zachariah Branch is going to work out.

[Craig]

I don't really recall there being the Zachariah Branch, this is him moment in one of these games. It was in the Tennessee game for me, like, when he took that screen pass down the sidelines against Tennessee and defied every single angle. It was like, all right, this dude's different.

[D]

I think you're forgetting the check down in the Marshall game where he takes it like 50 yards down the sideline, outruns three people.

[Craig]

I definitely forget it because I don't

[D]

remember at all that that was like the first moment where I was like, all right, Zachariah Branch is absolutely going to be a guy for us. It happened in, like the mid third quarter, so. But it definitely happened. That was, I think. But you're right. Tennessee was like the national moment where it goes.

[Craig]

Okay, yeah, that's typically, like, you get confirmation of your thoughts. Like, this is the confirmation for Zachariah Branch that he is the difference maker. But, yeah, I'm sure, like, I knew that there was probably a moment that I was just overlooking in one of those games. I just couldn't remember it off the top of my head.

[D]

It happened in March. But for that reason, I would love to see one of these in the first two weeks at the wide receiver position, because maybe it comes the former Isaiah Canyon. Maybe C.J. wiley makes an insane play. Maybe. Maybe it's the tight end room. Maybe Jane Riddell and Lawson Lucky and all the guys make such incredible plays. It's like, all right, the tight ends are going to be what Drew drives the passing game this year. I just want to see someone make big plays in the receiver room. To give you an idea of. All right, this is going to be a guy.

[Brooks]

I think one of my favorite things about our channel is watching the lone soldier come into these chats and just try to fight the good fight. And the whole, the whole chat just gags up against him.

[Craig]

And it always happens at the best moment because it's almost always in the local hour.

So we got all the dog fans piled in here and then there's a big ten fan that comes in or an ACC fan and they pile on and all the Georgia fans are just like, whoa.

Do you remember the eras when, like, admins would kick those people out?

They did happen. Well, I think that was also like the transition time of like, this is a Georgia channel. It's like, all right, guys, we're branching out. We can't just be pushing everybody out.

I vividly remember, like Florida fans and Tennessee fans like talk, like just talking trash and they like get banned. It's like, no, guys, we need those views, please.

[Brooks]

Yeah, we pretty much have a free flowing chat around here. We just let y' all within. Within reason. Do kind of whatever you want.

And we're okay with that. I, I think it's. It's good to have discourse. I mean, college football creates that. The, the amount of insanity that comes with college football fandom should have a place to breathe and this is a great place for that to happen. But the selfish thing that I really want to pay attention to in the first two games of the season. How many bodies is a Kai Helton going to catch? That's what I want to know.

No, just cut him loose, get him as many reps as possible, leave him in in the second half when those defensive linemen on the other side are just absolutely worn out, don't want to be here anymore and just let Zakai

Held and reign hell all over him. Are we going to get an answer as to how much Gunnar Stockton has progressed in these two weeks? Because going back to what we saw in the Marshall and I believe it was an Austin Peay game. It was kind of like he's not pushing the ball down the field but they're doing everything they need to. It wasn't that, hey, he's turning things down was a major concern until like we got to the Alabama territory. Are we going to be able to watch these first two games go? This is the most polished gunner Stockton we've seen. Or is it still going to have to be reserved for when you play defenses that have better talent?

[Brooks]

I think we can. We'll learn something about his growth. Weeks one and two. I think we'll. I think we'll learn more about. What Kirby alluded to at SC media today is like we're going to ask him to do more. We're going to ask him to be willing to do more and give him more offensively from his workload and the concepts that we're asking him to go through. Who's the returner?

[D]

Great question.

[Brooks]

I don't talk special teams, but who's the returner?

[D]

That's a fantastic question. And I, I said why? I'm kind of worried about this.

[Brooks]

Oh, man. Kirby had a great moment the other day during practice on Sunday. They were doing kickoff return and the guy, not the returner but the other guy that doesn't catch the ball. His job is to make sure that the returner catches the football before he goes. And so all the returners are doing a great job catching the ball. And then Kirby obviously goes over there to either Landon rolled in or London Humphreys, I can't remember who it was. And tells him to purposefully drop the ball just to see if Bo Walker's paying attention. And then he proceeded to tear into. You have one job. Your job is to ensure the catch. And now guess what? Other teams got the ball on our own six. Fired. Get your head in the game. It's like Coach, man, come on, man.

[Craig]

I pray it never happens. Pray it never happens.

[Brooks]

Yeah.

But I bet you if that happens in the game, Bo Walker gonna jump on that ball. He'll be ready to jump on that ball.

Is I think the glory glory subscription alone is worth getting to see Kirby live in an action. Oh, Mike.

I sat with a bunch of Discord members, and that's who invited him. Is t right? Shout out to Travis. I said with a bunch of Discord members, and a lot of them said that exact sentiment. When this came out, I was very suspect about whether or not I was going to join. And then they told me I could go watch a practice, so I signed up. So, yeah, it was a tremendous ploy. I remember straight from Ohio State, by the way.

Which is fine. Ohio State did this, I think, three years ago, where they were like, hey, you can pay to come to practice.

I remember walking home from classes and, like, the three to five minutes where you're in earshot of them at practice was like, the most fun you have. And half the time you don't always get something. But just hearing him lay into someone just like, man, that. That makes you happy.

[Brooks]

All right. So I've been covering the University of Georgia since 2019. That was my first season on the beat. I've got two topics. How has Georgia changed since 2019? How is it the same? Which ones do you want first?

[D]

I think we might only have time for one, but I want to hear how it's changed.

[Brooks]

We got plenty of time for the local hour. God forbid we overrun this. You know, it's changed from a depth standpoint in some spots, but I still think it's one of the deeper football teams in college football.

[D]

Yeah.

[Brooks]

So it really hasn't. But the quality of depth, I don't think is there.

[D]

Well, that's a. That's just a dichotomy of college football.

[Brooks]

Correct. I think that's Everybody expectations are completely different. When I first got onto the beat, it was, this is our year. Now, if it's not your year, you're pissed off. It went from, hey, maybe we win a national title to we better win a national title or else I'm firing the offensive coordinator. As a matter of fact, the defense coordinator sucks, too.

[D]

I think that was kind of always the mentality. I think it's. It's less hopeful now and more of an expectation.

[Craig]

Yes.

[Brooks]

Which, again, I think the expectations have changed. Certainly Kirby's approach is slightly different. He's the same guy on the mic. He's still getting after everybody's butt. But I do think he is a little bit more lenient. I do think he is a little bit more. Now, I would never use the words laid. Laid back with that human, but he doesn't seem as red faced all the time.

I don't want to besmirch coach Smart at all, but the. The Skull Olympics video they posted, that's the first time I was like, whoa, he looks old.

It wasn't when he walked into the SEC championship game with the readers on.

Defensive schematics have changed a bit. When I first started covering Georgia, you were strictly mint front football team and now you are not. I also think that exposes a lot of people when they talk about Georgia defense. They're like, oh, they're. They're a mid front team. Not anymore. They don't play true zeros.

They haven't really been since like 23.

[Brooks]

Yeah. I would argue maybe even 20, 22.

They let Jalen play zero sometimes and I was just because, hey, you're gonna kill the center. But

tight end. When I first got here, the room was I. Now it's ungodly every year. It's just like how, how do you have that many great football players in that room?

As long as I've been here, the second string, through third string, through four string quarterbacks is always the fan favorite.
