We're going to be able to talk some notes on that. Most importantly, when Brooks gets in here, we will be able to talk about that. One of Georgia's recruits in the 2027 class has a high school home now, just prior to the season kicking off, that would be one Colton Usmeyer. He found a new high school team to play for this season. Jonah Aguero spoke about the reason why he transferred out of Georgia and ultimately ended up with the Ole Miss Rebels. And we might also preview the Alabama game right here today in the month of August.

Good stuff. Let's start with the news. You mentioned it, Colton. USM has a new high school football home. For those of you who don't remember, Texas high school football deemed him him ineligible because he transferred from one high school to the other. And apparently that's like against the law in high school football in the state of Texas. Basically freedom of movement everywhere else you go except for Alabama and Texas. Alabama and Texas, they will make you sit out for a year. That's not the craziest thing that I've seen. And I want to get this take off right now in the local hour. There is a high school football program, high school athletics administration program in the state of Georgia that is now charging admission for media members to cover their. Their teams. What?

So did you see the update, though, that they posted?

[Jonathan]

What?

[Brooks Austin]

It wasn't true? No, no, no, it's true.

[Christian]

They posted it. But the update was like, for people that work for legitimate companies, this isn't for you. Like, you don't have to worry. This is.

It was a program that in my eight years of doing this, I've been to once. Once. Because they don't have dudes like that normally. Even though. Oh, what was. I don't want to give it away.

That was the last great player from this place. All right. But I'm glad to hear that it was not that. Okay, that's good to know. All right. Colton Usmeyer. Archbishop Rummel, transferring to New Orleans High school football. This is where his dad's obviously the offensive coordinator at New Orleans or for the Saints. I think it's just good news that we're actually playing ball.

I thought there for a minute we were going to have to basically sit out or reclassify, and that would have been bad news.

[Jonathan]

I mean, that would do so much damage to your development, too, because, like, senior year, if you're going to Georgia to play quarterback, senior year is kind of the last year you're going to play football for, you know, at least two years. Unless, like, you fall into a Jake Fromm situation, which I believe that's the last true freshman start for Georgia. And that was going on a decade ago now.

[Christian]

Yeah, the last one. Yes, that's correct.

[Jonathan]

Yeah. So, I mean, it. You're gonna. You're not gonna play a lot of football when you get to Georgia at first. So playing senior year does a lot for you.

[Christian]

Yeah. So good news that he's going to be playing high school football for sure.

[Brooks Austin]

I didn't prepare y' all for this. No, don't say it's already started.

This is the equivalent of when the article was put out by Steve Wilt Fong about Miami interested in Keemon Spell. Yeah, no, duh. I'm sure Miami is very interested in the top running back, the five star that is currently committed to Georgia. I'm sure that they are still talking to him communicating to him and saying, hey, we like you, we want you to play here. Yeah. I'm sure there's a lot of schools that are like five star. Jaden Wade, we like him a lot. We want him to play for us. So yeah, you're gonna battle this until the very end.

This is like that. Your father doesn't watch the show when you're not here.

Oh, he doesn't?

Yeah, he just asked are we still doing diddy counter dang. It's like, hey man, we did it last week.

Yeah, I rolled an ankle one time so bad that the doctor, it was a high ankle sprain and the doctor was like, you'd have been better off snapping it in half, honestly.

Yeah. High ankle sprains are gnarly. But yeah, no, this is the like you mentioned the equivalent of the foots facing upward and I'm laying on the ground and the dot coming out there and going, oh, looks like it's broke. Oh, shocker. Everybody wants to potentially sign Jade Wade.

Yeah.

He is by far and away in my opinion the best quarterback in the 2028 class. So.

Yeah. The six four quarterback that runs a four. Four people are interested.

That's played at IMG for three years. He's a dude.

He's the most hyped recruit that quarterback they've had since Justin Fields.

I mean, gosh, there's Matthew Stafford.

Comps. Yeah. No, I thrown around. Oh man. I guess, I guess those guys didn't. I'm thinking you guys that ended up going to Georgia.

Oh, well, we ain't there Yet.

Hold on for dear life. I think this is going to be the. The toughest battle of your recruiting life. I think one thing that will make this a little bit easier is if for some reason the Safe College Sports act is passed, which I don't know if it's gonna. If we continue on this. No. No salary cap. No. No dollar amount is too much. You can give anybody what you want as long as you got a rich booster. This one is going to be an absolute war. All right, so buckle up and get ready for that one. You want to read this Jono Aguero quote?

[Christian]

Yeah.

[Jonathan]

So Jonah Guerro was basically, you know, giving an interview initially talking about Trinidad Chambliss and how great quarterback he is, which is valid. And in that he kind of revealed, he was asked about, you know, what did Ole Miss do to kind of win you over and convince them as to that they were the right school for you. And his quote was, if you're a Georgia fan may be interesting. So the quote is, I feel like Ole Miss, they made it really easy. I didn't really have to think about it too much in the process because I feel so welcome here. I feel like they're going to use me how I am supposed to be used. Now, if you're a Georgia fan, you can read that, as he said in the shot at Georgia coaches that they didn't use him the right way, which I don't know if he's necessarily doing that.

[Brooks Austin]

Go ahead, Jonathan. I think I got the reality on this situation so well.

[Christian]

I was going to say, like, is that him saying he wants to play deep safety now? Like, is that what he's asking?

[Brooks Austin]

Because he played Star Georgia, playing the nickel there, too.

[Christian]

Yeah. So, I mean, I think this is kind of just the generic response that you get from guys that transfer. Like, typically, what they're going to say is, I know. I have confidence that they're going to use me the way that I want to be used. Like, you get it from edge rushers that transfer out from Georgia. You're getting it from Jonelle here. Like, I don't think it's necessarily any shade all that much as much as it is just like a nice, easy way of putting why you're not there.

[Jonathan]

Yeah. And I think, like, this is obviously something that you can. It happens all the time in life. Complimenting where you're at in your current position is not a slight or an undercutting. It's not an automatic slighter undercut to your last position if you go, if Lane Kiffin goes to LSU and says, I love this job so much, I'm so happy here. That doesn't mean he hated Ole Miss as me. He was happy there or miserable there. It just means he's very happy with where he currently is. So I don't think that this should be someone or something that people look into and say, oh, you know, Jonelle Aguero sending shots at UGA coaches. I think he's just expressing that he's happy with where he is right now.

[Brooks Austin]

I think the reality of the situation is this. Somewhere around December last year, Jonah Aguero's agent, or perhaps maybe even Jonah Aguero started receiving tampering offers. And whether it be from Ole Miss, whether it be from Texas, whoever it might be, started receiving these offers. And then that agent or Jonelle went into the offices and was like, hey, so and so is willing to pay me this. And Georgia was like, when you're a

Good luck. And I think that's kind of how that went, especially when you start to hear our practice notes here in a minute about how deep this defensive backfield is. I don't think Georgia was willing to go, you know, out of their way to make sure this happened. By the way, he's not the first player to have this happen. This happened with A.D. mitchell. This happened with Jaymond Dumas Johnson. This has happened time and time again. I would argue this happened with Daryl Smith when he transferred to Missouri. This happens where other schools are like, hey, we're willing to give you the raise that you're seeking and play you more. And that's a no brainer for any football player. And what Jonah Aguero cannot do is say that in front of the media. Right? So he did what he was supposed to do and he said the right things when he was asked about this. And it's not only Wilson, 100%.

[Jonathan]

Yeah. It's not only the, the idea that he got into better offer. It's also Georgia had already somewhat kind of found replacement like for a Jaymond Dumas Johnson thing. CJ Allen had kind of already taken over that Mike position. We saw Rayshawn Dinkins absolutely ball out in the two games he started at Star. So, like, it's kind of a little bit of both of Georgia didn't feel like he was a guy that they could not absolutely lose. At the same point, if your replacement is a cheaper, younger player, you're going to go with that guy more often than not. So I think that also plays into why he is no longer with the program. I don't think that anyone has anything negative to say about him. Like, he was a very good safety for the time he played. I think he started in every game last year that he wasn't injured and started a bunch in 2024. So nothing negative to say about that at all.

[Christian]

No. And I don't think really, Georgia fans have ill will towards Joe now either for making that decision for himself either. I think it's just one of those situations where it was. I think both sides are going to benefit from the new situation.

[Brooks Austin]

By the way, Chad's doing the revisionist history. We on this network believe Jonah Oguero was a really good football player.

[Christian]

Correct. Really good.

[Jonathan]

Correct.

[Brooks Austin]

We thought he was really good.

[Jonathan]

We often went to bat for him.

[Brooks Austin]

Yeah. Like now, I think the most shocking thing for us was when he hit the portal. And I think you two were in the car with me when I was on the phone with sources, and they were like, he. Not very good. Like what?

[Jonathan]

Yeah.

[Brooks Austin]

Huh. I think they were doing the my girl just left me talk. She.

[Christian]

Yeah.

[Brooks Austin]

So I think that's what was going on there to an extent. But the. The reactions from the building were a little bit different than our reactions.

[Christian]

Yeah.

[Brooks Austin]

About how I. I never thought he was in a bad spot last year.

[Christian]

Well, and two, like, the position that he plays at Georgia, number one. There's been two really, really good star players to play at Georgia over the last five years. That being Javon Bullard and. And Tyke Smith did a phenomenal job there. Star is also a very vulnerable position. We talk about that all the time on here. So if there's somewhere you're going to be exposed, it's going to be there. So did Joe now have moments where maybe, like, he wasn't very good? Sure. Because that is a very. Like I said, it's a very vulnerable spot to be in constantly on the football field. But for the most part, like, 90% of the time when Aguero was on the field, I didn't have concerns about him being out there. I Wasn't like, oh dang, Aguero's out there or anything like that. I always thought that he was a very good football player for Georgia.

[Jonathan]

And I also wonder if the lead up into what, when he eventually got on the field kind of did some damage to his, I want to say, legacy with the Persona of him. Because there was a time where it was like, man, they really want this Jonella girl guy to get out there, but you just can't figure it out. From a mental standpoint, he's still a step slow and far as stiff.

[Christian]

Yeah.

As far as reading things and turning up field. And I think that kind of followed him to when he ultimately did touch the field. I never felt like we saw it personally. They did that to Tyke Smith in 2022 and 2023. Like there were areas where they show weaknesses. So I think it's more of just a, it just was not the perfect fit.

Don't know if he'll be drafted inside the first two rounds, but he's going to play NFL football. And I thought sometimes he got played out of position last year at Clemson, but it is what it is. Everybody knows KJ is a future first rounder. So you have two corners that I think are absolutely elite. You have a first round safety and you have a nickel. Now that I think is an NFL football player. And whoever plays the other safety spot doesn't really matter. It doesn't. It doesn't really matter. Everybody else around them so great that I don't think it's going to matter. So that there. There are four names there that I think that could play.

While you were QB1 while you were gone. So we got into this discussion about quarterbacks and, like, Bryson Bieber, and I think Brooks asked a question of, like, how does this happen? Like, what is it about Bryson Beaver that, like, everybody has fallen in love with? And I talked about how I witnessed it firsthand at G Day.

I was saying that we needed to start Gunner Stockton over Carson Beck long before. Or I was saying that we need to start Brock Vandergripp, get Carson. Like, they always want to be the first. They always want to be right. They always want to be. Seem like they're smarter than everyone else. Like, oh, Stetson Bennett does not need to be starting. J.T. daniels is the guy. They have to be the first to the take or they have to be the ones to say it.

You know who was the. You know who was the most yelled at football player out there? Offensive defense, offense, period. This guy. This guy was getting smoke in warm ups. This guy was getting yelled at in warm ups.

started out in my imagine. But yeah, that was funny to me. Zero verticality in this offense right now. Zero outside the numbers running vertically. I think the direct quote from Kirby at the end of practice was we are o for infinity downfield today.

And that was kind of my pessimistic view of that. Like, you know, the defensive back room. Yeah, there's a lot of really talented players in there. Was it they're that good or is it we just didn't have any more.

Yeah, I mean, I said it in our Discord Lounge on the way back from the scrimmage yesterday. I felt like coverage was so good it would have taken Jeremiah Smith coming down here to get open. Like that's. I, I do think they are that good at corner, specifically corner, because that's what we're talking about. The verticality outside the numbers running, running a go ball and Getting on top, stacking corners, winning at the point, point of attack, winning at the catch point. That's all.

That's all. Like, it wasn't. It wasn't a lot of zone coverage. Hey, you know, get down and we're going to throw you a back shoulder. Like, it was all man to man. Go, go beat that guy in front of you. I don't know how many wide receivers you're going to line up against this year on your schedule that can stack and get on top of Ellis Robinson that can stack and run by Demelo Jones. I don't know how many people are going to beat Braylon Conley like that. I don't know how many people are going to beat Jonte Gilbert like that. Like, that's why I said. What I said about the defensive backfield is like, that is the. This, particularly at corners, the best four that I've seen at Georgia since I've been.

And to flip that around, that also means how many seconds and not to do this thing because I know Georgia fans have done. That's about to ask this question, like, how many secondaries is Georgia going to face this year that are as good as the ones that they have on the roster? Alabama going to have a really good secondary this year. Outside of that, like on Georgia's regular season schedule right now, how many secondaries are going to face that are that talented?

What did the interior pass rush look like? And I know that they don't always go balls to the wall, especially in scrimmages when you.

I get these things off me as soon as possible. I freaking hate practicing the knee braces because they just slip slide all over the place. If you don't have pants on, they're just all over the place.

Yeah. The big one for us was don't unbuckle the pads. You be in the group huddle and everyone's unbuckling while coaches talking is like, no, no, don't do that, please.

Because, I mean, we are three weeks, you know, 25 days away from kicking off. Like, if you're not in shape at this point, you're not going to be for the season. Bingo. I talked about this with our Patreon audience in Discord a couple days ago because somebody was arguing with me about whether or not Jordan hall is a nose tackle. And I'm like you don't, you don't really play a nose tackle anymore. You don't play a true zero. Hell, even if you're, even if you're a shade tech and there's a three tech out there, if they happen to flip the tight end, you guys are sliding anyways. So who lined up as a shade ends up as a three Tech and who lined up as a three tech ends up as a shade. So you have to play both and you have to be able to play both. Whereas used to you just play the zero and you'd have a 4i and a stand up jack and a and a 3 tech next to him. And that's how you guys play defense. Y' all don't do that anymore. Y' all are bigger and longer at defensive end. You don't recruit 6 foot 2, 265 pound edge rushers anymore. You recruit nothing but Chase Linton, Darren Nick and Nogbun, Gabe Harris, Quintavius Johnson, Isaiah Gibson. Like you recruit nothing but big Joseph, Jonah, Jon, J.J. han. You recruit big long bookends is what we called them back in the day. You recruit two big standup or rush ends. That's what you have. Whereas used to, you'd have this like hybrid outside linebacker guy. And that's, that's no more. You don't, you don't play defense like that anymore.

Correct. So now you do have two nose tackle bodies.

What influences a change like that?

Personnel, I would imagine. But to me it was time to release on, on the football.

Because I mean we remember. I can't remember who they were playing a couple years ago, but Kirby came in there with a time to release stat. He was like the last five games, quarterbacks have averaged, I think throwing the football under two seconds. Was it Alabama?

And basically saying like we couldn't get home if we had freaking prime Miles Garrett out there. Right now everybody's just catching and throwing, catching and throwing, catching and throwing until we get them on automatic passing downs and then they actually have to run traditional downfield passing concepts and then we have a chance to get home. So if that's what it's going to be, then we better start getting length and we better start clouding passing lanes when we get hands Up. So I think that's what you're saying.

Because, I mean, I understand why we would go from a base to a 4 to 5. Like we're getting killed in the slot right now. We don't. We need more speed than we need brutality. I just never, like, defensive line is not my strong suit. So understanding, like, why we would go from a true mint front with a zero to, hey, we're probably just gonna be a shade and a three at the closest is. I don't fully understand that. So that makes sense.

All right. Who's the quarterback? That would be my biggest question, number one. Obviously the other question is, whoever the quarterback is, is that guy actually tested before you go to Tuscaloosa? Because I looked at the schedule and I've been looking at the schedule. It's Eastern Carolina at Kentucky, Florida State, South Carolina at Mississippi State.

[Jonathan]

Not a lot of room for it.

[Brooks Austin]

No, I don't think there's a defense on that list right there. There's anything the caliber of yours.

[Jonathan]

[Brooks Austin]

Maybe. South South Carolina is always decent on defense. They're never bad. Yeah, they're always a worthy, respectable bunch. There's no doubt. Okay, so I don't mean to be demeaning to the Gamecocks, but I think it's pretty safe to assume that whether it's Austin Mack or Keelan Russell, they're probably going to coast through those first five games. I mean, unless deboard the DeBoer thing happens.

For that matter, do they even really know for certain who their quarterback is coming into that game?

[Brooks Austin]

So they've. They've been very adamant, this coaching staff has been out there at Alabama about wanting to name a starter early. Okay. And riding with one until the wheels fall off and then we have to play the other guy. So maybe Mississippi State makes some score.

Would you like to know what Too Deep says about the QB battle?

[Brooks Austin]

I would have to agree just because if I went as far as I did as they did to make sure Austin Mack early enrolled to Washington, make sure Austin Mack came from Washington to Alabama, make sure Austin Mack stayed on this roster despite the fact that we've signed a gazillion five stars of the position the last couple years. I would want to know that I was right about my evaluation as a coach. Selfishly, I would want to know that like, prove to myself that we selected the right guy. We've gone about all the. We've gone through all these links to make sure this guy's on our roster. I want to know that he is our guy or is the guy now.

And the future is Keon, no doubt.

That's a major question. That's why like it plays into who's the quarterback.

Yeah, that's why I would probably go Keelan.

Yeah. I mean that talked about that. We've discussed that. But I mean that's. Those are two of the big questions. Like I feel like we Have a pretty good idea that Alabama's defense is going to, for the most part, hold Georgia. Likely two under 30 points. They've done it in the last two games and great defense outside of 2024. They were doing it before Carson Beck just started throwing caution. The wind said, hey, we're down 30. Might as well just keep throwing it deep so they have a good defense. It's. That's not going to be the issue for them. I don't think it's going to be. Ken. Our offense scored 25 plus points, so I think that's an eight major point here. One thing I would say, and this isn't necessarily schematically, is can you punch first? Because the last three games, and it's a smaller sample size, but it's basically all the Kalyn DeBoer games. The team that punches first has won this game. Obviously. Alabama in 2024 went on a tie rate of points. I think they were up 33 at halftime. Alabama in the second game or the game in Athens, marches down the field up 7, 0. They're up 14 0, I believe. And then obviously in the SEC championship, block, punt, George is up 7 0. They win that game. The team that punches first in that game with the K in the Caitlin DeBoer era of this rivalry has won the football games. It's a small sample size, but it's worth noting.

[Christian]

Interesting. I mean, I would also say too, like the two times that Alabama beat Georgia, it was also because their offenses just got off to an insanely hot start.

[Jonathan]

Yeah.

[Christian]

Like Jalen Milroe and the. And them in 2024 played perfect the entire first half and led to a major lead going into the second half. And then Ty Simpson was just unconscious for the first half, too. But then second half, both games, Georgia's defense made adjustments, are able to get themselves back into the football game and then a really winnable spot.

[Brooks Austin]

I think it's a defensive struggle, honestly.

[Jonathan]

God, definitely.

[Brooks Austin]

I think you have a real strong possibility to run your way to a win, though.

[Jonathan]

They should have done that last year. There's a. I don't remember. I don't have the stat readily available.

I think so. This is around there. Yeah, he was having a phenomenal game.

They were running the football at will, but I feel like they got to a point where they felt like they were down a little bit too much.

It gets to a point where you can't keep running the football because you got to conserve time.

[Jonathan]

I'm trying to find a tweet, but there was a stat I had of basically the. The first team. I think it was this. The first team to reach 100 yards rushing had won like nine in a row prior to the 2026 match or 2025 matchup. Last year, Georgia had reached 100 yards rushing first in the first half alone. So, I mean, running the ball should be what wins you that football game outside of obviously last year. So, yeah, if you can run the football, which we think that Georgia sounds like, Georgia's gonna have a great offensive line. It sounds like the running back room, despite some injuries, despite losing one of their, you know, presumed key players, is going to have really solid running backs. I don't know necessarily what Alabama looks like from a defensive line standpoint and then the front seven of stopping the run. So you would feel good about that. But again, it is Tuscaloosa. It is Alabama. There are still all those voodoo things that play, even though you did hand them a massive L last year. So it's worth noting all those things. What else do you have for.

[Brooks Austin]

I don't think you'll see very many passing explosives in that football game on either side.

[Jonathan]

You don't?

No. I think these are two of the better defensive back groups in all of college football.

[Christian]

It's funny because when you say that, that makes me think, oh, Austin Mack might be better suited for that game. But then you also throw in the wrinkle of got to be able to run the ball well. Keelan's probably the better option there. It's funny how that works.

[Brooks Austin]

Yeah. I would go Notre Dame, Miami, or not Miami, Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, and then find another defensive back group that looks like those guys.

[Christian]

Maybe Oregon.

[Brooks Austin]

Yeah, just the other safety spot in Oregon. I don't know. The other corner spot at Oregon, I don't know.

But they got two great players, but

[Brooks Austin]

they have the best defensive line of those three that I just mentioned. So the defensive backfield might get protected a little bit.

[Jonathan]

Sure. So what I'm hearing is this game is going to look very similar to the blueprint of the SEC championship where neither offense is really moving the football. Yeah. But turnovers and short fields are what's going to win you that game. Yeah. Because Georgia boxed Alabama in that SEC championship, the score also suggests that it was a just drumming, when in reality it was a slow burn where Georgia took advantage of two or three short fields and won by 21 points. So not taking away from Georgia beat the hell out 21 points is an ass whipping. At the same point, a lot of that was short field induced and turnover induced where it could have varied very easily. Happen the other way around. And who knows what happened in this year's game.

Does it worry about you, worry you guys about going to Tuscaloosa?

[Christian]

I mean, yeah, I mean, I mean

playing Alabama, I mean, if this game was played in Athens, Georgia at night, I think it would still worry you to a certain degree.

You know what worries me? What's that actually having to pick the game this year.
