So hard.
Host 1
Oh my God, dude, I. It was so funny because I'm like looking at. I'm literally looking at my stuff and I go, no one's here to check if my stuff is working or not. I guess I just have to do it in my head. I thought that was the logical thing. Now of course, I'm looking at all my lights lighting up here and realizing they weren't lighting up before. So I'm glad. You know what? I. The second one was better. I know I said on the show, the first one was better, the second was better. So anyways, we're back with you did pretty well. Like.
Host 2
Yeah, I think you did a great job. Yeah.
Host 1
Well, again, because I did it a second time, and actually, weirdly, I think the time was almost exactly the same, so I managed. The only thing was my mom was sitting on the couch over here, and she. And then I got the question about, how do you cook? What's the best way to cook bacon? And she just started cackling over here. So that threw me off a little bit. But otherwise, I can't record in front of people.
Host 2
I. I don't want anyone else in the room.
Host 1
Yeah, I don't like it. Yeah. But here's the deal. I was backed into a corner, and they had to. I had to, like, send this thing out for it to be edited. And so, like, I had no choice.
Host 3
Yeah.
Host 1
So it was not my favorite, though, Luke. I was telling somebody where I was at netroots this week about watching you at the DNC recording a video, and you didn't realize you were on the monitors in the other room. Oh, shit. Fuck. And you, like, every time.
Host 2
Yeah.
Host 3
Yeah.
Host 1
Anyways, so everyone's here. We've got lots of. Mostly. This is kind of like the crash out episode.
Host 3
Oh, yeah.
Host 1
I think, because pretty much everything we're talking about everybody in, somebody crashing out, which for those of you that are over the age of, I don't know, 30, crash out means freak out or something, because, I don't know, it was a first meltdown, and we're going to talk about the biggest baby in the universe first, Donald Trump, who, if you have not seen by now, please go watch it. But he was. He was interviewed in Wisconsin by Meet on Meet the Press with Kristen Welker, who I'm not really a big fan of, by the way. And they got into 2020 election again, and, oh, my God, it was just so good. It was so good. So painful. But, like, again, I'm not a big fan of her. She did hold her own.
Host 3
She did.
Host 1
And she didn't back down because he just kept saying, there's so much fraud. The fraud is everywhere. And she's like, you've never been able to, like, show any evidence. Yeah, the evidence is everywhere. You know, he's doing that. You just have to talk to people. That was his line. And she's like, yeah, but, like, pay attention. What is it?
Host 2
You just have to look.
Host 1
And then, so that goes on, what, a couple minutes, Right? Then he does the whole, like, you know, movie star getting a bad interview takes the mic off, so you get the, like. And then he goes to stand up. And he has to hold on to Kristen Welker, who's this tiny little person, because it looks like he's about to fall over.
Host 2
Little darling.
Host 1
And then he, like, walks off. Not a good look. Not a good look.
Host 2
Did you guys see his. His just his jowl area?
Host 1
He looked bad.
Host 2
Yeah, I have never seen him look that bad before, and he's looked bad for a long time. But he looks like. Baked like he looked like. And I mean, like, you left him in the oven for too long baked like he looked like a smoked turkey. His cheeks almost looked crispy. They were like he went shiny to red. Red. Yes. And. And he was like. He, like. He looks, like, wet. Like, he was just like. He was. Was he having a heart attack or, like, some sort of, like, panic?
Host 1
It was getting rained on. That was why he ended the interview, Rich. Duh. Oh, yeah, I was mad about the rain. But then she also was like, sorry about the rain. But anyway, that reminds me, did you see the. That Grock claims that that whole thing at the end was a lie?
Host 3
What do you mean?
Host 1
That never happened.
Host 2
That.
Host 1
That him leaving. That was AI Generated. That it was actually just the interview got ended because of the rain. I saw somebody that asked Grock that. And that was what Brock said is that it was fake.
Host 3
That's not surprising, Grok.
Host 1
You know, well, they've had to manipulate that so much because it has been. It started out telling the truth. Yeah. Because facts. Elon was like a liberal bias.
Host 2
Yeah.
Host 1
I mean, that is also true. But I mean, this dude looked horrible.
Host 3
Oh, yeah.
Host 1
Not even the anger. He just looked awful.
Host 3
Yeah, it's definitely sick.
Host 2
My. My favorite thing about the whole thing, because I. I saw it and it was like, you know, Aaron Parness had a video about it that had like 10 million views already. By the time I was going to do a video, I was like, I gotta. What's a novel take here? Because everyone will have seen this video. And so I was doing some additional, you know, digging into, like, well, when was this recorded? And like, what was happening exactly. Where were they? Why were they that. Why. Why was he there? And that was recorded on Friday. And so when he said, it's been four or five days and they still don't know. It had been two and a half days since polls closed when he said it was four or five days. And. And then I was looking through, like, okay, I want to see what else he was saying. And it's because the morning after when they were, I think, maybe below 50% vote count. He had already posted a congratulations to Steve Hilton on Twitter. On TV Twitter, idiot, saying congratulations to Steve Hilton for finishing first on election night. And it was like, I know Californians are so smart. They're going to elect him and we're going to do great things together. And so by the time Friday rolled around, he had watched his endorsement. His age like milk on the shelf. So by then he was already really pissed off about it, but he still hadn't happened yet. So he does this recording and then the recording goes so poorly. Then on the rest of Friday, he's crashing out about California in front of farmers. He has a White House thing in the evening. He's melting down over California. Saturday, he's posting the Democrats or like multiple back to back posts about the Democrats stealing the election. All because he knew this was going to go live Sunday morning. This horrific mistake, train wreck, whether he wanted it to or not, was going live Sunday morning. And so he, he spent like five days just in a complete manic spiral in preparation for this to go live.
Host 1
It's going to be so his blood has to be thick. Like, it's like thick water rolling through his veins.
Host 2
How many aspirins do you think he, he's like, he takes already like 10 times.
Host 1
The thing about the finasteride that he was on and now is not on anymore. No. What's this? So it's the hair replacement drug that he was.
Host 2
Oh, I saw something about hair not on it anymore. Why would you, why would you go off of it?
Host 1
Or, or they didn't disclose that he's still on it. But the reason that a lot of people have caught is that if you have major coronary events or strokes or blockages, you don't stay on finasteride, you come off immediately.
Host 3
Huh. That's interesting. Well, I mean, he's.
Host 2
His hair, his, his hair is looking real bad. His hair is getting worse.
Host 1
Like.
Host 2
Yeah, yeah, dude.
Host 1
He would look. Honestly, like he would. I know Stormy told us the whole story about why he does it, but like, he would honestly just. That brings back the, the pantomiming she did. Oh, God. I don't. Nope, nope, nope. We're not going to talk about that again. Oh, God. Hopefully you're listening today and not watching. We're just going a trip down memory lane when story Stormy Daniels came on and, and pantomimed a fairly specific action. But, but let's. So, so, so for the people who don't know what he's crashing out about and who Steve Hilton is, is The California gubernatorial race, which is unique for many ways. One, it's a jungle primary. So like everyone gets lopped together and then the top two finishers, it's a mess. They should get rid of this. Like, go just do ranked choice voting.
Host 3
Right?
Host 1
Just, just do that.
Host 3
Right?
Host 1
Jesus Christ. Yeah, but, but, so that, but the challenge that people don't understand is that in, in California, they have, at least in la, maybe all of California, they count every ballot that is postmarked by election Day. So we all know that the US Postal Service kind of sucks. Sucks ass. So that could be up to five days that it takes for those things, for those that mail to be delivered. So. And the other thing is that Republicans have spent years demonizing mail in voting. It's fraudulent. Don't do it. Even though they used to have huge advantages in mail in ballots until Donald Trump was like, oh, they're pretty well.
Host 2
They did pretty well in 2024 with mail in ballots.
Host 3
Way better.
Host 1
Yeah, because they realized, yeah, they realized how stupid it was and that they were probably leaving votes on the table because if you get people to vote early, it prevents them from having an oops, I couldn't make it on Tuesday. But like, so. Yes. So when the mail in ballots started to come in, Spencer Pratt and Steve Hilton, the two Republican morons at the head of both of these races, the LA mayor's race and the governor's race sat at the top. Then hundreds of thousands of mail in ballots happen. Because in California, most voting is done by mail. So like they had to count more votes. And then, you know, Spencer Pratt, like, put this, this stupid image up. Was like me trying to figure out how Cal, how Los Angeles counts votes. And it's like, like a Beautiful Mind type script on the wall. It's like, dude, they just had until the election day to mail their ballots. It's not that hard. Like, you idiot. And now I think officially he's out, right? Yeah, he's officially out.
Host 2
Yeah, he's cooked. And, and I think the latest now is like, so Pratt's out, right? But Hilton's still in.
Host 3
I mean, look, because he's not necessarily like, out out. He's not in second anymore, but he could be again. There's still a bunch. Of course.
Host 1
I thought people said maybe this was just people being wrong. No, because they were saying like, it's over. And I was like, no, I'm looking
Host 3
at it right now. So he is only 3,000 votes behind second place and there's still 146,000 votes.
Host 2
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Host 3
So he could easily, for sure, second place.
Host 1
Yeah.
Host 2
And if he.
Host 1
This has not been confirmed for sure.
Host 2
And if he gets back into second place, then Trump will, you know, what is he going to say? Like, oh, it turns out the elections are great and America's great again.
Host 1
Just kidd.
Host 2
Just kidding. I apologize for being the president and melting down over this for five fucking days. It turns out I actually am super happy with the result. I mean, they're all going to lose anyway. It doesn't matter if they. As long as they're not two Republicans in first and second place.
Host 3
Right.
Host 2
There's no Republicans going to be in charge of Los Angeles or California. So why, why is he indexing his identity, his personality? Like, he could have just ignored this whole thing and been like, they're idiots and they're going to elect idiots. That's what idiots do. I can tell you why he's a narcissist.
Host 1
He's. Well, yes, but he's also going to get his ass handed to him in November and he wants to set up and say that everything is fraudulent. That's why he's doing it.
Host 2
Yeah, yeah.
Host 1
He doesn't have the embarrassment.
Host 3
That's all it is.
Host 1
See, that's the thing, right? Like, I feel like people brush over how insane it is that like a. The leader of the most powerful nation in the world is still denying his loss in a 2020 election.
Host 3
It's crazy.
Host 1
Like, that's insane. A big loss. Insane.
Host 2
And the fact, and yeah, sorry.
Host 1
The fact that any media, like, gets portrayed as demon. Like, it gets demonized for saying, hey, dog, you got some evidence there or are you going to shut the up?
Host 3
Yep.
Host 1
Yeah, it's insane.
Host 3
He knows what he's doing, too. I mean, he's bragging about his way to, like, the fake news is the thing I created. Like, you know, he said that like a week ago. It's like it's all a big act and a big game for him.
Host 1
Well, he. There's reports from the White House when he was there and he admitted that he lost.
Host 3
Yeah.
Host 1
Like, when they were still in office. But it is over. He was like, I lost. Like, he told the people. Right. Because he. Yeah.
Host 2
And who cares? He. He won in 2024 by kind of a lot and they won the House in the Senate. Like, his whole shtick is based on being cheated and being screwed over by crooked everybody. And so he's like the cognitive dissonance to win everything and then come to people and say, you can't trust the elections. Our Elections in this country are crooked. Everybody's lying to you. NBC, abc, cbs, cnn, Meet the Press, Kristen Welker. Everyone is crooked, and everyone is lying to you when you're talking about the system that gave you the power that you have right now.
Host 1
Exactly.
Host 2
And it's a total distraction from the fact that they have all the power and they haven't done a goddamn thing with it. Except for.
Host 1
It's really interesting to me because your elections are fraudulent.
Host 2
Yes.
Host 1
Who's in charge here?
Host 3
Right.
Host 2
Yeah. Your Congress, your 30 states that you control.
Host 1
Also, if. If the Democrats were able to control the elections, why did they let Donald Trump win in 2024?
Host 3
Right.
Host 1
If they stopped him in 2020. Like, it doesn't. Like, huh? And I don't. I don't. And they let him win in 2016.
Host 3
Yeah, but that's the thing. Like, Trump knows as well as everybody else, logic is not an element here. Like, it's. He's looking at this and going, oh, the people who are going to subscribe to this are not going to think about it that way. They're going to go, I say it enough. And they go, yep, it must be true 100%. That's what he does. And, you know, that's the magic of Trump, is that he doesn't ever think about what he's doing. And, like, the. All he thinks about is, what are people going to think if I do it? And that. And it's honestly the best, like, from a, Like a strictly I'm going to win in politics perspective. Great strategy. That's the only way it should be done. You know, that's the opposite. Why Democrats lose because they think too much about, well, what if this and what if that? He's like, no, who. When the people I want to think a certain way, what are they going to think? That's the only thing he considers. Everything else is all blur. He doesn't care.
Host 1
Yeah. I mean, a lot of this is just, like, he wants to portray himself as strong. Right. And that's what a lot of people want. And, like, I do think, not the lying part, but, like, you know, there are lessons there for Democrats. And I mean, even Zoram Donny is a perfect example of, like, he hasn't apologized for anything. He's like, no, I'm doing the things that I'm going to do and I'm pushing forward. Yep. I'm going to make a big deal about this rich guy, like, not paying his taxes and all these things. And you know what? Most people, you know, his Numbers are higher than they, than they've ever been. And crime was just. Last month was again, record dropping. Right. And like, but like, I think whoever is going to be our nominee in 28 is just going to have to. Not that they should lie. That's not the message. But like being strong, being confident and owning your shit and not being like. Well, what I really meant to say, you know, like, none of that.
Host 2
I totally agree. I, I think a lot about, like on the left, we, we, we always try to lead with understanding. We try to lead with apologies. We try to like, I don't have a soft approach, but either, but the only reason anyone should ever really apologize is if you, like, like a genuine apology is if you did something that at the time you knew that you shouldn't do.
Host 3
Yes.
Host 2
It doesn't, it doesn't mean apologize for a mistake because you can't rewrite history. You can't like, change how you're, you know, it's hindsight. It's 20 20. If you were doing a thing for the right reason. And this is what Trump always says. I'll never apologize for fighting for like, ordinary Americans or whatever. Like, it's full of shit. But if, if you're driven by a defensible force, which Mamdani is like, affordability for New Yorkers, like, that's kind of always the backbone of everything he does. Even if something doesn't go well or, or it takes longer, like, you don't apologize for that. You don't go and say, sorry, Obamacare wasn't perfect. You say, I will never apologize for fighting to get affordable health care for regular people. And you just stay on that shit. You know when you need to apologize because you knew when you did the thing that you did something wrong.
Host 1
Exactly. Well, do you know who else should not do any apologizing?
Host 3
It's my transition.
Host 1
Scott Pelly. Right. Yes. So lots of talk here, but basically just to recap, because I, I think I did mention a little bit on my, on my solo adventure, so. Yeah, that's right.
Host 2
That was before his New York Times interview, though.
Host 1
Yes, it was. So basically, you know, Barry Weiss and Nick Bilton, who is a reporter, a technology reporter with no TV experience whatsoever, no production experience whatsoever. Producing experience whatsoever. Obviously, these two were brought in to kill CBS News in all of its various entities. The most important part, though, of this story is that 60 Minutes is a cash cow. It is one of the most profitable shows that CBS has. And what they decided to do was they were going to be like, oh, well, we're going to fire a bunch of people and we're going to bring in some other people. And Joe Rogan's name was floated though I think that finally died. But. And then there was the infamous Scott Pelly standing up in a team meeting and basically grilling the shit out of Nick Dalton, who had no answers to anything. And the entire not cast and crew, but the entire team was either applauding or laughing when he made a joke or made a sarcastic comment. And then of course Nick and Barry could not handle that and they fired him for cus. And then he did this, this interview.
Host 3
Right.
Host 2
The. There are so many layers of this story that are insane, especially after hearing Pelly's interview. I watched Pelly's interview with the New York Times and read through whole transcript and everything because there's so much in there. But the thing that was the like the, the macro takeaway was how completely out of their league Barry Weiss and Nick Bilton are. And I've worked in TV news at a much smaller scale than this, but it's enough to understand that the scale change between what Bari Weiss and Nick Bilton have done, which is either print or print and digital, but it's written journalism and what CBS News and specifically 60 Minutes does. The number of people it takes to put together a print news piece, even like New York Times quality is probably like five or six, including the interviewees. You know, you call your subject, sometimes you email them questions. It's kind of. You don't usually want to do email, but it's a. It's a handful of people. You write all the words. You ship it off to an editor, they make some revisions, legal will look at everything and then it can go to publication. If it's digital, there's no consequence to a missed deadline. There's no. Like you. It might say we want this up by 6pm but if it goes up at 7pm it just means the headlines on the website haven't changed until 7pm Instead of six TV news 160 minutes piece I'm guessing is probably 100 to 200 people involved because you've got camera crews, you have literal vans of equipment, millions of dollars of gear, people, professionals driving around shooting these interviews. You got to be on site wherever you're going. He talked about one. One episode in Minneapolis. You got to have all these crews there. You got to feed the information back, you got to edit it, you got to make the narrative make sense and you've got to get it online for you've got to get it uploaded, ingested into whatever server so that they can air it, you know, when the time comes. And if you miss in TV news like they're, they're, they lease the airwaves from us. If you miss a deadline, you're abdicating a responsibility to the viewers that you, that you took on when you said, I want these airwaves so I can give you news. And you're also setting it up so that when your time comes to air that broadcast, it is just fucking black. Like it cuts to your channel, it cuts to your broadcast. And if there's not something there to ship, if there's not something there to hit play, if you're not there in front of the camera with your human body, in your suit, with your makeup, it just goes black and it is a fucking disaster. And Barry Weiss has never experienced consequences like that for missing deadlines. Nick Bilton, as a tech journalist and a documentarian, has never experienced consequences for missing a deadline like that. So they come in and they meet all of these journalists, many of whom, almost all of whom have been doing it for decades, including like I think Scott Pelley, 37 years. You don't take that job when you know you can't do it. This is not a learn on the job situation. This is a thank you so much for thinking of me. I would be a fucking psychopath to accept this job offer. No thank you. Please hire a serious professional. But obviously Nick Belton and Barry Weiss are not serious professionals.
Host 1
Well, those two also have humongous egos. And Barry, Barry has struggled with the truth her entire life, which is partially why she left the New York Times, because they were starting to question some of the stuff that she was doing. And I think she, she did a good job of port, like portraying that she was being oppressed, which set her up perfectly to write a right wing wet rag like the Free Press, which is a joke name too. But the other part on the, about the TV stuff that's so bad, right, Is like all that stuff is 100 true. You also are going to get phone calls from advertisers who spend millions and millions of dollars, run commercials and golf commercials and pharmaceutical drugs and all of these things that power the network. And if you, you know, CBS, I mean they, 60 Minutes has had like one of the greatest lead ins of all time, right? Sunday Night Football, which helps keeps their audiences big. But like there's even talk like if enough people leave right now, they won't, they won't be able to start the season in September, which will be millions lost on top of millions lost from the CBS Evening News, which the second they went to Tony DiCapoli or whatever the fuck his name is, who basically was like, yes, I will be, I will be your person. After what they did has plummeted millions of viewers. So like if, if the goal was to destroy cbs, they are successful. If it's anything else, they are complete fucking idiots.
Host 2
I think Pelly said they had 2.5 billion views last year, which is like a third of the human population saw something. He also pointed out that under their new leader, that was the first time CBS 60 Minutes had been led by a woman. Last year for a full season and they had 9% growth in views, which for a 75 year old, like incredibly mature broadcast format and a mature program. 9% growth is crazy. It's absolutely crazy. You can't grow faster than the American population. At that point. The market is saturated. So getting, getting views means that's coming at the expense of all of your competitors, which only happens when you are that much better.
Host 1
And to be clear, most TV has been seeing declines for years. So a 9% increase for anything is massive. And Barry looked at that and said, nah, I don't want that. Let's get rid of that.
Host 2
Get rid of all the people who drove that growth. Yeah. And, and he also said 190% growth in digital views. And so in their, in their digital reach over the, over the course of the season.
Host 1
But, but that was always, 60 Minutes was always the place that if a politician wanted to talk about big news, they went on 60 Minutes, whether it was Donald Trump or Joe Biden or Barack Obama or Ronald Reagan or George W. Bush. Ronald Reagan, like they had it.
Host 2
Yeah.
Host 1
And now there is not a Democrat on earth that I think would go on that network right now for anything breaking because frankly, all of their supporters would rip them to shreds, as they should.
Host 3
Yep.
Host 1
So like, I, I don't know, I did make a joke on the, my solo show that, that Scott should come to. I offered Scott a platform on find out. I'm sure somebody's gonna back up a truck of money to him. And actually, and I, I know there's conflicting thoughts on Scott Galloway, but he actually was talking about something last week that is not a bad idea. He's like, he, he's like Scott Pelly and who is the other one? Oh, and Anderson Cooper, like Ted Sarandos from Netflix should go to both of them and be like, I'm going to pay you both $10 million each, and we're gonna have a show called the Hour and where it's gonna be a weekly show or 59 minutes and it's gonna be a weekly show, and we're gonna eat their lunch. That's cool. And you know what? Like, it's not. I mean, the lawsuit might be too, but like, any name, Netflix doesn't have any Live. They've got money to burn. Like, that would.
Host 3
I mean, that's a really smart idea.
Host 1
Terrible idea.
Host 3
They could capitalize on people's shortened attention span. Just call it 30 minutes and just do half of it. It'd be perfect.
Host 1
Yeah, no conflicts.
Host 2
51 minutes.
Host 1
What I should have done. And this is going to be lost on all of you, I think, but there was a Saturday live in the 70s. They had a joke back when all the Beatles were still alive. Lorne Michaels did this bit in, like 1978, and he's like, I have a message for the Beatles. John, Paul, George and Ringo. He's like, we want to present you an offer to reform. And. And I have the check right here. I have a check made out to the Beatles for $3,000. So it was like this joke, right? Like this joke. Because it's like three. They. They were getting in the. In the 70s, they were getting tens of millions of dollar offers. All stuff.
Host 3
Sure.
Host 1
Well, apparently John and Paul were at the Dakota when it happened. They almost went down.
Host 3
Really.
Host 1
Because it was live. Because it was live. So, like, I should have done a Scott Pelly. I should have been. Scott Find out is ready to present you with an offer of $500 to join the Find Out Network, Find out podcast, Find Out Media. I should probably get the right name first. I'm workshopping this live.
Host 2
But, you know, please bring your own camera and crew.
Host 1
And we can't give you much of a rider.
Host 2
No, I mean. No, I mean, Pelly is. I think he said he was 69 or something. 68. Like, he's. If I were him, I would ride off into the sunset. But. But on behalf of journalism and on behalf of America, like, all of these people, they will land somewhere else. Like Stephen Colbert will land somewhere. Like, the amount of power. You can't. I mean, that's the one good thing about the free market and capitalism is, like, you can't constrain a person who can pull numbers. Oh, yeah, somebody is going to monetize that. Somebody's going to say, how do we get Scott Pelly on our channel immediately? And the options are winnowing. But there's also an opportunity for somebody like Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert to just start a new. A new show network. Like, even if it's just digital only. Like, you can't take those eyeballs away from those people because they earned them.
Host 1
Well. Right. And Scott, I mean. I mean, he's been on TV forever, and people really respect him. And even in the. Even in the New York Times interview, he was pretty reserved. Like, he wasn't. He wasn't throwing bombs. He was saying, yes, there isn't right people. Well, yeah, then there was the conversation about, like, Trump called him, like, on it, stupid. It was like. Or dumb. And, like, dull, stiff and stiff and unpatriotic. And like, he hadn't heard.
Host 2
That was.
Host 1
But the on the fly thing, he's like. He's like, you know, stiff. Sure. What was the other? Dull or whatever? It was sure. Unpatriotic. And he paused. And that's one of the moments when he starts to well up and he goes, you know, I didn't serve, but, like, I've been in combat, I've been in foxholes, I've been shot at. And the last time I checked, the President of the United States has done none of those things. And I thought, man, what an answer. Right off the cuff, like just a fucking dagger in the. In the heart. It was perfect.
Host 2
No, his. His delivery on that, too. I mean, it's like, fuck, this guy's a performer because he wasn't performing, but he knows how to say a line. And the. The. He paused when it mattered most. My wife and I watched that together on the couch last night on my phone, and I was like, jesus Christ, man. It was very powerful. Very powerful.
Host 1
What those guys can do is not. I mean, now that we're doing a version of it, it's hard.
Host 3
Yeah.
Host 1
Oh, it's crazy. Like, all of it in the delivery and no ums, which, if you listen to me, I struggle with that. And, you know, there's all this. And they're just so flawless. And you just look at it, you go, oh, well, they're just reading. And it's like, no, no, not until you put the headphones on and a mic in front of you and you have a green or a red button in front of you, it changes. And he is just a master, like Anderson Cooper. Another one, right? Storytellers, like, they're just. They know how to build the suspense. They need to know how to hold you. And they pause for just the right amount of time. And I don't think Barry knows any of that because she's a tv, She's a writer.
Host 2
Right.
Host 1
And I don't. They're, I think they're, they're super. I don't think they'll come back from this unless. Because no one will go work for them except for Fox News people.
Host 2
Well, they kept three 60 Minutes reporters behind. And those reporters, or I should say three 60 Minutes reporters stayed because they wanted to.
Host 1
Leslie Stahl and two other. Whitaker and somebody else.
Host 2
Right, right. And they just said, like, if we leave then, then 60 minutes is like, there's no institutional knowledge left then, Then it's dead. Dead. But, you know, so they want to try to keep the lights on in some way or another because this era will pass. Like every, every one of these eras passes. It's not good. It's going to do a lot of, you know, maybe irreparable damage. CBS News is certainly going to lose probably two thirds of its value. I mean, it's, it's, it's going to take a bath because, yeah, like you pointed out, like, 60 Minutes is a cash cow, is a money making machine. And when you take the eyeballs away, that's when the advertisers come knocking and that's when the board of directors comes knocking, and that's when CEOs and editors in chief and that's when senior leadership just gets fucking wiped out. And they'll all get their golden parachutes and all that bullshit. But there will be a time when we reclaim 60 minutes and it'll be great again, not to use those words, it'll be great again at some point and it'll just like, that'll just seal the legacy of all the people who fucked it up. Like, hey, you were given, you were given the super bowl and you turned it into peewee football for like five years. And now we're going to turn it back into something that makes people money and you're the idiot who fucked it up.
Host 1
Well, speaking of up, I'm gonna do
Host 3
this for every good transition.
Host 2
That's pretty good.
Host 1
Damn, that was good.
Host 2
That was clean.
Host 1
Let's talk about Graham Platner.
Host 3
Yeah.
Host 2
So guy never heard of him.
Host 1
Where to even start? So last week, Rich is immediately distancing himself from him. What's that? Rich is immediately distancing himself from Grant Platner.
Host 2
Well, I did not get a text from that woman.
Host 1
Never heard of this man. So obviously story came out about him sending sexually explicit messages, I think to like four to six women is the term. His wife was the one that actually told the Campaign this right when they were announcing and what it appears is that the political director who quit around the tattoo scandal is the one that Lynn leaked this information. So there are accusations, I have not heard any accusations of any sexual assault or anything like that. It actually turns out I'm not going to say their name because I don't know if they want me to. But like I know somebody who dated him. I found out last week and she did a video on Tick Tock and you know, she's very honest. She was like, it was like late 20s, early 30s in D.C. it was a very drunken time. But she's like, I had nothing but good, good memories of, of him. There are stories of him being a bit surly at the. He was a bartender on the Hill for a while, which if anybody knows anything about being a bartender on the Hill, I would be, sir. I would be surly as too because it's all a bunch of like 25 year olds who think they run the world and treat people that way. Regardless though, these stories are out there and so now we are seeing both people saying who gives a shit? We're seeing people who say step down. Including two members of Congress. No, by the way, the primary is, when you're listening to it, the primary will be actually live. It's Tomorrow, Tuesday the 9th in Maine and Janet Mills suspended her campaign. There's a couple of write ins, but like that's it. Yep. So what do we do about this guys? Are we riding with Platner? Okay, Zach, because you have had the bit most doubts about him. Understandably not doubts.
Host 3
I mean I've always thought he was hands down the best option. Just being a Jew. It's hard to look and be like, hey, go Graham, you're killing it. Like it's kind of a bummer. But you know, look that I, I've said multiple times despite that if I lived in Maine I would still vote for the guy. Like I don't, you know, it's nothing that I think is that egregious. But like, I think what I really like from this that I've taken away is that he has taken the plow through strategy. Like it's not the cleanest shit. Everybody's like, I'm eating it, I'm going to roll through it, I don't care. And honestly, like Trump opened that door. Trump did the exact same thing. Just by going like, I'm not going to let a scandal fuck me. I'm just going to go straight through it doesn't matter how big or small. And I like that they're, you know, going that direction, not being like, well, whoops, sorry, let me just destroy my career. Like, no, just fucking. Unless there's something, like, awful, then just keep going. You'll be fine.
Host 1
I don't know if you guys know this, but I'm from Maine, and.
Host 3
Really?
Host 1
Really. And what's fascinating to me is I have had people that I knew growing up posting on Facebook about, oh, my God, he is a Nazi and he beats women and he is a scam artist. And I'm like, I know you guys voted for Donald Trump, who literally did all of those things, has been convicted or found liable of many of those things, and yet you are sitting here and saying, the Graham Platner is beyond the pale. The dissonance is so crazy. And I actually, because. And you guys know I did. Would do this. I wrote them and I said, help me understand.
Host 2
Right?
Host 1
How do you. And you know what? Crickets. Not a single person responded to me because what are they going to say? But I think that is, as you said, Zach, I think that protects him because he's like, yes, that guy fucking was found liable for rape.
Host 3
Yeah.
Host 1
That guy's got 34 felonies. Like, no one's accusing me of doing that. Like, yeah, the tattoo, awful. Like, I will never, like, excuse that. Awful. But he's also done a lot of work in the years since. And if you talk to people up there. And this is the thing that people need to understand about Maine is that if a bunch of people from out of state, as. Or as we would say from away, come and say, mainers, you need to do this, they will do the fudgeing opposite. Because they're like, fudge you. We live in a pretty tough place to live. We're pretty rural. We're pretty far away. Our weather sucks most of the time. We're going to do what the hell we want.
Host 3
Yeah.
Host 1
And so, like, people. And then you've seen photos since this came out. Graham still packing the rooms everywhere.
Host 3
He's still popular. That's. In the end, I think it's an incredibly valuable lesson for the Democratic Party. I think that a lot of operatives are being like, well, I'm very nervous with this. And those people need to be drum the fuck out, because there's nothing to be nervous about. This dude lost nothing from this, in my opinion. Like, anybody who is basing their vote on some, like, who gives a shit Allegations, they're not worth paying attention to. The majority of people don't vote that way anymore. It's just not the era we're in. Like, I understand you rewind to 2015 even. Yeah, sure, this could be the end, but it is not even close to even a bump in the road. You fast forward to November, they'll be like, remember back then with all that shit? And be like, not really. Like, it just. It's irrelevant. You know, there's too much information.
Host 1
Right. And I. The only thing I would say, and this is a campaign staff thing, is that they should have gotten this shit out when the tattoo should have been. They should have just got it out of there and get. And they knew. Right. I think the difference here was that the wife told a campaign staffer, so they thought that, like, that was enough. But you've got to protect the. You got to protect the candidate, and you got. I mean, I'm sure they didn't want to talk about it for sure, but, like, it's like, now is the time to slide this out because it wouldn't have mattered, and then we wouldn't be talking about this.
Host 3
I don't know.
Host 1
But I think.
Host 3
I don't think you're right.
Host 1
I think that you think it would have been a cascade because there you
Host 3
have another option, right? Like here, it's different now.
Host 2
Yeah.
Host 1
Yeah, that's true.
Host 3
You know, so I. I think. I think they saw they had a lot of tailwind with him, and they're like, let's not with this. And once we own it, then we can. You know, then it's fine. And that's.
Host 1
I mean, she threw the kitchen sink at him, and it didn't do any.
Host 3
I mean, whoever's trying to fuck him now, I guess it's this person who's leaking all the shit. They should have done it then when she. When Mills was on.
Host 1
Well, yeah. And the thing is, if it was this person, I have to be careful because actually talked to this person before, but if it was them, yeah. It wasn't good timing because she did it, like, 10 days before the primary. And Janet at Art Mills had already shut down her campaign. And the only other viable candidate was the one that we talked to, Dan Cleveland. He dropped out a long time ago. So, like. Yeah, there was nobody else. So all the. And endorsed it. Yeah. And endorse Janet, but. But all she was doing in this particular case is helping Susan Collins. And I think that the good thing here is that everybody's like, well, but like, he's still better than Susan Collins regardless. And then there's all these people who are like, well, he's just going to be another Fetterman, and it's like John Fetterman. Well, first of all. First of all. First of all, fuck John Fetterman. Second of all, which would you rather have, John Fetterman or Susan Collins? No, this is easy, guys.
Host 3
Easy.
Host 2
Yes, I want us. I want a Democratic vote. I want a Democratic vote for the Senate Majority leader is what I want.
Host 1
Right. Well, that's, that's the point. And I'm not making any excuses for John Fetterman. He sucks and, like, I want him gone, but these people are like, well, it's just going to be another Fetterman. I'm like, I would take another Fetterman over six more years of Susan Collins. So that's not even a good argument either.
Host 3
That's fair.
Host 1
I. But I don't even think about. And now. Now Fetterman and, And Platner are fighting. Going at it. Yeah. Which is interesting because actually, Federman fighting Platner helps Platner.
Host 3
Yeah.
Host 1
Because it helps dispel that myth. It's so. It doesn't make any sense.
Host 2
I don't love John Federman and we don't have to pivot to him. I don't love John Federman, but I remember when Joe Lieberman cost us the majority in the Senate because he got chased out of the Democratic Party, went independent, started doing some. Some Georgia George W. Bush and it. And it. And it us over, I think, for. Well, yeah, for his entire, like, six years, because he was elected as a Democrat and then went independent, started caucusing with the Republicans after he got into office. So I don't want to. I don't want to see when it could come down to one vote. I don't want to see Fetterman do a. Do a Lieberman and cost us the Senate majority right after the election, which is entirely possible if, If Trump can win him over.
Host 3
Yeah, right.
Host 1
He seems pretty anti. I mean, they've talked to him, they've asked him a few times. He's pretty like. I think he just hates the whole thing. Yeah. He's clearly not well, we all know that. Regardless whether it's physical or mental, he is not well and he seems miserable, and I just want him to go away. Like, I don't want him to run again. I want.
Host 2
Stop taking whoever.
Host 1
Literally. Any other Democrat.
Host 3
Yeah, any. Anybody handles it because, like, some of the. He's saying, like, in principle, I sort of agree with, like, the point, but, like, the way he's approaching it is awful. Like, he's Just he's such a bad salesman of the like, like, yeah, trying to tell this. Like, hey, we're like the way we're approaching Trump is wrong because that was kind of the underpinning of a lot of his messages. But then he starts using like people have Trump derangements and like, don't say it like that. Like, don't take that statement. And then, dude, like, that's not how you do this. So like it's, I don't necessarily disagree with some of the shitty as to say he just says it like an idiot.
Host 1
Well, it also, I'm using their talking points just basically negates any of the criticism that Democrats have for Trump. It's like you can't see that. It's like these are unusual times. Yeah, right. Like this isn't just like saying this about like Mitt Romney or somebody.
Host 2
Like, right.
Host 1
You know, this suggests. Anyways, so it's. Yeah, but like John Fetterman.
Host 2
I did want to add though, just because I really struggle with like, am I voting for the person? You know, Obama was like a personal hero for me and he's still unimpeachable. And so I'm like, no, I'm one for one for one on that one. But as we understand this environment we're in, I think it is very healthy for the left to, to migrate to a more transactional relationship with politicians. They're not our heroes, they're not our family members. They're employees. They are our employees. And if Graham Platner committed a crime, I hope that there's justice. If, if we find out that he committed a crime, if, if women are coming out and saying he did this thing and it's illegal, that's, that's a game changing conversation. His wife already issued a video, full throated defense of Graham. It's like he's an imperfect person. He's trying to do what's best for man. Yep, that's. So far everything has been consistent with that. This is also what happens when we get real people to run for office versus people who have been polishing their credentials since they were eight years old to run for president. Those are the people who you find out have a bunch of bodies in their closet because like they've been suppressing all of these weird things their entire lives, but, but not very effectively. So like, if there are people in probably all of our lives who lead a much messier life than Graham Platner, and I hope nothing else gets worse, but if he's going to go and do the fucking job. If he's going to cast the votes because he's coming from a place of principle in defense of the working class, then I think people, Maine should vote for him.
Host 3
I agree. I mean, I, I think it's also like, we have to kind of look at it like we're casting a movie and these are actors. Like, politicians are just actors. And like, in the end, you gotta put the person that is going to play the role the best. I don't give a what they're like in their personal lives. Like, I mean, unless it's like egregiously wrong, but like, there's a bunch of actors out there that people still go see their movies even though, like, they are pieces of. I mean, Tom Cruise is a Scientologist. His movies.
Host 1
Right?
Host 3
Doesn't matter. Like, so I think we have to start understanding. Like, I know we don't want it to be Hollywood and dc, but it is in a lot of cases. And like, Grant Platner is a very good leading role guy. Like, he just, he fucking fits the bill.
Host 1
Well, we got to get away from this. Like, I just, like, they have to be likable. I have to want to have a beer with them. Like, you are never going to fudgeing meet this person, right? Like, what you need to know is, are they going to vote for universal health care? Are they going to hold the Trump administration accountable? Are they going to get rid of the tariffs? Like, it, like, look, I'll be honest, there are a lot of people in Bain who are just like Grant Platner. And I think people understand that and everybody knows somebody that's gone through some of that stuff. And I think people are going to look at it and go, well, fuck it, Susan Collins, like, you know, she's never been. She's never voted against the Republicans when it mattered, right? So, like, who's the one that has the moral problems here? The answer is probably both. But like for my daily life or the. Our American public's life, Graham Platner is going to be way better than Susan Collins. And like, what happens in his personal life with his marriage is between them, which we preach personal. You know, we preach about like, not wanting, like politics in the bedroom. Well, here's another example of that. As long as no laws are broken again, to be clear. I don't know. But like, if this is a situation with his, with his wife, then it's. And they've worked through it already. And he's already talked about, you know, dealing with PTSD from being in A war zone. And, like, no one seems to be talking about that part either, that, like, you know, happens to people when they come back from war, and it's not good. Yeah, and you're seeing some of that right now. And, like, you know, I. I don't want to say cut the guy a break, because, like, I know some people are very hurt by some of the things he's done, and I understand that, but, like, you got to think about this as the. The country is concerned. It's on fire right now.
Host 2
It's just, can you. Can you. Can you do the job and will you do it to the best of your ability? And, I mean, look at what Trump has done. And he still was never prohibited from running for presidency, which I still don't fully understand how that was ever possible with all these fucking felonies. But if Graham Platner does something, like, there's still a scenario where he goes and he votes all the right ways in the Senate, and he is also held accountable for some crime that he committed. And at that point, you know, do we primary him? Maybe. But is it better to have women not regain the right to choose? You know, I don't probably know. So I hate that we're in this position, but people are way messier than I ever want them to be.
Host 1
Our backs are against the wall. Like, it is not hyperbolic to say that democracy is on the line. It's not. So then when you are in that situation, you do things differently. If this was the 90s and we were like, in this, you know, this fantasy land, which was a thing where we thought wars were over and, like, the world is moving. I mean, my senior seminar in college was all about this. The whole, like, if you have a McDonald's in your. In your country, you won't get bombed by another country that has a McDonald's that got blown to literally. So, like, literally. But, but, but, like, okay, in that time when we can be like, you know, that's this guy, Bob Pakman. Senator Pakman died this weekend. He was expelled from the Senate for sexual harassment in the 90s. Bob Packwood Bob. Yeah, From Oregon. Like, that wouldn't happen now. Like, they wouldn't do that. Like, the Republicans wouldn't kick him out. Right? So, like, we're in a situation where it's like, we got a 6:3 Republican majority in this in the Supreme Court. We don't control the House, we don't control the Senate, we don't control the presidency. We're gonna get on our high horse and like Barack Obama's not coming through that door to take. Was that the Rick Patino thing he said when he became the Celtics manager? Which was not good because he was terrible at it. But. But it's true. So like you go to, I hate to use the Donald Rumsfeld term. You go to war with the, with the army that you've got now. I don't like that as the guy leading us into a war that he lied about. But in this particular case, it's true. Sorry.
Host 3
That's where we're at.
Host 1
And we gotta act all we solve that good. No one online is going to complain about this anymore. Oh no. It's going to be about at all.
Host 3
We're all set.
Host 1
I got, I got lit up for my platinum takes the last few days. Like being excused.
Host 3
Too much time.
Host 1
I know, man, I know, I know. I'm so much better on text than video.
Host 3
That's just so much like every time I open it I, I think I'm gonna get a different thing. I'm like, I'll find some interesting shit within two minutes. Like, fuck it, I'm out. I can't.
Host 1
Well, the rage made on there, it's like they'll say what I'm trying to think of something egregiously stupid. But it's like a lot of misogynist takes, a lot of racist takes because people are just doing it for the. I think there's a coordinated right wing effort to drive liberals on threads crazy.
Host 3
They want to get ratioed pretty.
Host 1
Yeah.
Host 3
They actually are looking for a race.
Host 1
That's what I try to tell people. If someone, if someone. You're mad at somebody and they have under 100 followers, block them or ignore real. Do not engage with them.
Host 3
100.
Host 1
Because that's what they're doing. It'll be like us was better when it was like whites were in control.
Host 3
And you're like, yeah, who's saying this?
Host 1
And then it's like a grainy photo. 12 followers. I'm like, this isn't a real person. Right. They're just like trying to get in it. You know what? It kind of works. Of course it gets people all angry. So don't fall for it. Guys. You know where they should go instead of where to find out Social media.
Host 3
See, that is a good idea.
Host 1
So that is a text based app that is also really fun and you will not get screamed at on there because we have respectful conversations and you can also post your links and all that stuff. So just go, go download. What's that no bots? Nope. We've kicked out a few, but, you know, yes, it's.
Host 3
It's kind of hard getting them out, you know.
Host 1
Oh, they go. They go. If someone makes threatening comments, they're out. Like, we're not doing any of that bullshit. And you could do that by searching find out social on either the Apple or Android store. Guys, I think we're good.
Host 3
We did it.
Host 1
So I forgot to say at the beginning that we were supposed to have Congresswoman Sarah Jacobs on today, but she had some airplane connection issues and didn't get back to D.C. on time. So she's going to join us on Thursday. We're going to talk about probably all this stuff again, but she's got some AI legislation that she's introducing to try to hold companies more accountable, some tweaks to fisa, which is, you know, stuff where basically the US government spies on us.
Host 3
Oh, yeah.
Host 1
Trying to reign some of that in. So we also, we had her on our State of the Union show and she was fantastic. So we are very excited to have her back on Thursday. So that will be our big guest. And I think that's it, guys.
Host 3
Yeah, I think we did it.
Host 1
All else I gotta hawk. I gotta hawk our shit, of course. So please, please, please, no, no, Ush. That keeps the lights on. So we keep doing this. We would love for you to become a member of Find Out Media, Find Out Social, Find Out Podcasts, Find Out Media. You could do that on Patreon, you can do it on YouTube, you can do it on Substack. Helps us keep the lights on. 9.99amonth. Got some special goodies in there too, that you could do. We would appreciate that. But otherwise we're good for today. So everybody have a wonderful Tuesday and Wednesday. Did somebody already leave? Oh, Sam just joined us. Okay. Anyways, we'll be back on Thursday. Bye, everybody.
Episode: Trump Had A Huge Meltdown On Meet The Press & It Was So Good!
Date: June 9, 2026
Host: Find Out Media & Studio71 Team
This episode dives headfirst into the chaos of Donald Trump’s latest public meltdown during a contentious interview with Kristen Welker on Meet the Press. The crew discusses how Trump's reaction reveals deeper truths about his strategy and current state during his second term, while lampooning the absurdities of the broader MAGA orbit. The team also explores the recent upheaval at CBS News with a spirited discussion about leadership and the future of broadcast journalism, and unpacks the drama surrounding Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner’s campaign. The conversation is honest, irreverent, and heavily tinged with exasperation—and humor—about the state of American politics.
The episode wraps with news that Congresswoman Sarah Jacobs will join in the next episode to discuss AI legislation and FISA reforms.
This episode is a must if you want a cathartic, sharply funny breakdown of Trump’s latest antics, the media’s internal implosion, and the realpolitik of left-leaning advocacy in the Trump 2.0 era—no echo chambers, no bullshit, just real, unfiltered talk.
