I'm emily compagno along with harold ford jr. Jesse waters, dana perino and greg gutfeld. It's five o' clock in new york city and this is the five. At any moment we are expecting an update from police and local officials in Rhode island on the deadly mass shooting at Brown University. Police are still searching for a suspected gunman after releasing a possible suspect earlier. But first to this, the threat of radical Islamic terrorism is once again on our radar after the horrific anti Semitic attack in Australia. Two gunmen, a father and son, targeting a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi beach in Sydney. Fifteen people were shot to death, including children as young as 8 years old. President Trump praising the efforts of a heroic bystander who bravely tackled one of the suspects to the ground.
Mayor Smiley
It's been a very, very brave person actually who went and attacked frontally one of the shooters and saved a lot of lives. So very brave person who's right now in the hospital pretty seriously wounded. So great respect to that man that did that.
Colonel Oscar Perez
But we're here for a different reason.
Mayor Smiley
We're here to celebrate Christmas and to celebrate and I think today we can very say loudly we celebrate Hanukkah because that was such a horrible attack. That was a purely anti Semitic attack.
Emily Compagno
The brutal terror attack on the Jewish community, putting new pressure on Democrats here at home to confront the tide of rising antisemitism in their ranks. Like those college students who chanted from the river to the sea. Democrat Senator John Fetterman with this message.
Greg Gutfeld
For his party, Just call it what it is.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Antisemitism is a worldwide scourge and it's constantly demonstrated to be deadly. And it keeps manifest itself in these things. It's an absolute betrayal for Israel and.
Jesse Waters
For the worldwide Jewish community. Like whether it's France or Australia or.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Any of these nations. Are Western allies now calling for a two state solution?
Governor Dan McKee
When Hamas refuses to disarm and are.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Actively trying to kill Jews, that is not the appropriate reward. After 10, 7 and this thing.
Emily Compagno
And now it looks like the FBI has foiled a potential act of pro Palestinian terror here on American soil. Four members of a far left anti government group have been arrested. They are facing charges for allegedly planning a series of bomb attacks across Southern California on New Year's Eve. Officials say they were motivated by extremist, pro Palestinian, anti law enforcement and anti government ideology. Dana, a lot to unpack here. You had some powerful interviews during your show earlier this morning.
Dana Perino
Yes. So I think this is what globalizing the Intapata looks like. And if you listen to Call Me Back, which is Dan Senor's podcast, he had one of his regular guests on Today, who's from Israel, and he's there. And there is intel that has been around since about August. That's a month after Iran's nuclear weapon stockpile was obliterated by the United States and Israel. So in August, there was this intel that said basically there is some state actor out there that is orchestrating these attacks, encouraging these attacks. Okay. And you can go through them one by one. You can see there's things happening. There was this in the Christmas market in Germany. That attack was foiled. Thank goodness. You had the New Year celebration in Los Angeles. They foiled that plot today. That was announced earlier. Perez has canceled its New Year's Eve celebrations because they're concerned about this very thing, which to me says they've got intelligence that says that this was possibly going to happen. And they didn't know how, didn't know where the people were. And they're like, let's just cancel it. In order for everyone to be safe, you have the shooting of our National Guard, you have a call to action, which means that we have to have a continued vigilance and to be on offense. There is only one way to beat back radical Islamic terrorism and anti Semitism, and then that is to be on offense and to have moral clarity. And the moral clarity like what President Trump just discussed, there's no well and a maybe. And I think, no, it was, this is wrong. This is anti Semitism. And he said to the perpetrators of the attack in Syria that killed our people said, oh, there will be retaliation. That is the only way to deal with it. It's a generational struggle. They didn't. People who wanted to free, free Palestine, they didn't just want a ceasefire in Gaza. No, they got the ceasefire and now they've stepped on the gas. Just when we need to actually step on the gas for ourselves. If you are going to take steps like canceling school, canceling events, taking away the people's ability to gather in Paris for New Year's Eve, then you better be doubling down on your security because there's the only way to protect our way of life, our Western way of life that they would like to destroy is to stay on the offense.
Emily Compagno
Jesse to exactly that point, people like Sarah Adams, former CIA targeter, talks about how much open source information there is, meaning not classified, just available readily, that all over the world there are these cells mobilizing with the stated goal of global intifada that charge people with hey, shoot up this market, hey find a school like it is out there. And why is it that the lawmakers here can't even condemn that, can't even condemn anti Semitism. You have normal people like Ahmed El Ahmed that tackle a gunman, that show heroism above and beyond and elected officials here can't even see that that unchecked antisemitism will have fatal consequences.
Jesse Waters
Yeah, I don't know. The. It looks like after Iran got smoked, they tried to retaliate asymmetrically. They're never really going to be able to hit us back hard or hit Israel back that hard. But so you'll probably see this go on for years because that's all they're capable of. And they were warned, as Dana said, they had intel that there was something either being fomented by the mullahs or by isis. And you've seen as the Australians have allowed Muslim immigration into their country, the population of Muslims into Australia has doubled over the last two decades. And as that population has grown, there's been a very, very sharp rise in anti Semitic attacks just in the last couple years. There have been firebombings of synagogues, there have been firebombings of Jewish businesses. This is kind of coming to a head there. And I guess maybe they didn't act on the intelligence. I don't know what they did. But there's definitely going to be people that are going to lose their jobs. So the kid was an immigrant. We believe the father was born in Australia and the kid was on a terror watch list so that he was all over the government's radar. So the kid's on the watch list and the dad has an arsenal of weapons and these weapons are legally held. So the family is on a watch list and it has an arsenal. What the hell good is the watch list if you're going to allow that? You either have strict gun control like they said, or, or you should let the people of Australia are themselves to protect themselves.

Pardon the interruption, Jesse. Fox News alert police and officials in Providence, Rhode island are now holding an update on the deadly mass shooting at Brown University.
Governor Dan McKee
Let's listen throughout the east side and really throughout the city of Providence. And what residents and neighbors saw today was exactly that. There was specific enhanced coverage in Fox Point, Wayland Square, on Thayer street and on Hope street, which are the commercial districts in the area. And I want to express the city's profound gratitude to the following departments who provided mutual assistance and additional coverage today. First and foremost, the Rhode Island State Police have been excellent partners and I'm grateful for the governor of making sure that those resources are available to us here in Providence. But we were also assisted today by friends from neighboring communities here in Rhode island, which is a terrific way in which our colleagues from throughout Rhode island have been assisting. Today we had extra help from North Kingstown, North Providence, East Providence, Central Falls and Pawtucket. Many other communities have offered to help and we expect to take that help in the days to come. But through that mutual assistance of our neighboring communities, we were able to provide that additional coverage. Secondly, we were able to provide coverage to our schools today. We did have school here in Providence. I'm glad we had school today in Providence. We'll have school tomorrow in Providence. This is the last week of the semester and it's important for kids to be in school. And so we're encouraging parents to do what's right for their family. We understand that there are probably difficult conversations happening at the kitchen table right now, but if you're comfortable, you should send your kid to school. Providence Public schools are open and we have police coverage at drop off and pick up times to provide that extra sense of safety and security for our families. I spent the morning out at our schools too, in the neighborhood to be there for our parents, and they certainly were glad to see an officer helping out. And so, as we've said many times, but it's important to continue to say we're so grateful for the tireless effort of law enforcement not just to assist with the investigation, but to help all of us feel safe in our home at this time. I'm going to turn the mic over to our governor, Governor Dan McKee.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Thanks, Mayor.
Mayor Smiley
And just like all of us, we want to see the individual that pulled the trigger on these young kids identified, apprehended and brought to justice. I can tell you from the state level we're continuing to coordinate our state police and instructed the colonel to make sure that all the resources that are available are being employed through the direction of the mayor. But that partnership is incredibly important. I also know that the schools are not only being impacted on the higher education in Providence and also the K through 12, but I also have heard and have been in contact with our commissioner of Higher Education, Shannon Gilke, along with our commissioner of K12, Infante Green, to make sure that we are reassessing all safety issues in all our schools in the state of Rhode island and more to come on that the issues that have to do with mental health coordinating around the state through our higher ed and through our K through 12. I've assigned director Rick Leclerc to make sure that they're coordinating all of the social services, all the mental health help that's out there so that we can kind of also deliver that on a statewide basis. I was at Family Services Rhode island today on Hope street and just seeing what they're doing, and it's being duplicated all around the state of Rhode Island. So I think it's important that we do everything we can out of the governor's office to support what's happening at Brown, the community of Brown Providence, but also knowing that this is impacting on a statewide basis. So we're deploying that effort to make that. Make the effort to let people know that we want to do everything we can so they can be safe and feel safe. And finally, we want to make sure that all Rhode Islanders know that everything that is physically possible is being done and partnering in with our federal, the FBI, our state law enforcement, and also the local law enforcement to bring an individual and identify and bring that person to justice. We also have been involved communicating with the League of Cities and Towns today through Randy Rossi. They've sent out a message to deploy their vehicles, their police vehicles at the beginning of school day, at the end of the school day, all around the state of Rhode island to again show that we're serious about having people and the families feel safe and that everything that's being done to make sure that happens on a statewide basis because this has become a statewide issue that is being impacted families and people throughout the state of Rhode Island.
Governor Dan McKee
Now we'll hear from Colonel Oscar Perez.
Ted Docks
Thank you, Mayor. Thank you all for being here again. Here we are once again to provide you with some of the highlights and the progress that the Providence Police Department are long with. Several agencies have gone together and stepped up to come up to this. I want to remind you that this is a very active investigation, very complex investigation, and is the dedicated work of the men and women of the Providence Police Department, the detective division, the community response team, the special response team is all hands on deck. And on top of it all, you have the state police who's assisting us and every other federal partner that has been in this building for several hours. And I want to commend and applaud them for the work that they have done. And that includes the FBI, hsi, atf, the irs, the marshals and several other agencies analysts that are here. So it's pretty active because we want to make sure, as the governor stated, as the mayor stated, to make sure that we identify this individual and bring him to justice. Our work that initiated today and continues to initiate for a while since it started. We're at the 49th hour and there's no one that wants to put this individual in handcuffs than us. So this has brought us to a new lead which I momentarily will probably provide you, will be able to provide you with that's going to include video of this individual as well as photos of this individual. We're asking the public for assistance to be able to identify this individual. The photos I will be able to show you are coming from the area of Hope street near Benevolent and Menin. And those photos and those videos were retrieved around 2pm on Saturday the 13th. And we believe that's the same individual that we showed you from the previous video that we released. The public is encouraged to use the tip line, which is pretty active. We have a tip line which is staffed with officers from the Providence police as well as analysts. And they're taking calls as we speak. And we want the public to use that information that they have that may be beneficial to this investigation. They need to call 401-272-33-1210 that was going to direct you in order to provide the tips that you are providing to us as well. You can access the FBI website@FBI.gov Brown University shooting please. I'm going to ask you all to follow our channels to stay appraised of what's going on and to stay accurate. There's a lot of channels and a lot of stuff that's going out there that's circulating the wrong info. And I told you when I first met you that there's appropriate info, there's accurate info and it's going to come from us. So I please and plead with you that you access those type of channels. Again, we're asking for the public assistance in identifying this individual that we're about to show you. And we'll release this video on Twitter on Twitter account momentarily. I'm going to turn to the video behind us. I'll Be able to show you in two seconds. Officer Mangan, if you can just activate the. Put the videos up. So this is the first video that we're showing you. This is the individual walking on the sidewalk of Benevolent. And this is prior. Prior to the incident. Here we go again with this video, too, Mike. Again, you see him walking. One to the third video. These are some photos. Photos of this individual. And they will all be timestamped. Thank you. So we'll be providing this as well. And I ask you all to please make sure you put them up. And then anybody in the public that has any info about this individual, we ask that you call our tip line. And we'll also have the numbers in the website listed, ma'.
Mayor Smiley
Am.
Governor Dan McKee
Thank you, Colonel. The last speaker today will be Special Agent in Charge from the FBI, Ted Docks.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Thank you, Mayor, and good evening, everyone. My name is Ted Docks. I'm the Special Agent in charge of FBI Boston. We know there's a lot of public concern about the horrific mass shooting at Brown University on Saturday, and rightfully so. I can assure you that law enforcement team standing before you today has been working around the clock 247 to ensure justice is fully served. While we mourn the devastating loss of the victims and those who are critically injured, the FBI and its partners are dedicated to honoring their memory through a meticulous investigation. Tonight, as Colonel Perez stated, we are renewing our call for the public's assistance in seeking any and all information about the shooter. No amount of information is too small or irrelevant. We are also here to announce the FBI is now offering a reward of $50,000 for information that can lead to the identification, the arrest, and the conviction of the individual responsible, who we believe to be armed and dangerous. We're asking everyone in Rhode island and beyond to review the new images of the suspect, share them on social media and come forward. If you have any information, you can contact the FBI at 1-800- call FBI or the tips provided by the police department at 401-272-3121 or you can also provide tips electronically and submit it to tips.FBI.gov we're also doubling down on our efforts to obtain images and video of the shooter. Those can be submitted online@FBI.gov brownuniversityshooting. Our agents and analysts are fully embedded with our law enforcement partners, including Providence and Rhode Island State Police. We are tracking down leads, canvassing neighborhoods and developing intelligence. And right now, our Evidence Response teams remain on campus processing scene. And folks from our lab from Quantico are documenting the trajectories of the bullets, to reconstruct the scene. It's painstaking work and we are asking the public to be patient as we continue to run down every lead so we can get victims, survivors and their families and all of you the answers you deserve. Thank you.
Governor Dan McKee
Mayor, can you tell a chief officer.
Ted Docks
To say a statement in Spanish media?
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Ted Docks
Latf.
Mayor Smiley
You.
Governor Dan McKee
Images, Dan, go ahead.
Colonel Oscar Perez
I just want to ask a question. These videos and images were actually very good that you just showed. They were from the day before.
Governor Dan McKee
And I'm just wondering why didn't we.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Release these a little bit earlier?
Harold Ford Jr.
Did you just get them today?
Colonel Oscar Perez
And can you explain that's going to be a question.
Ted Docks
Of course. And that's a great question, Dan. And I'll tell you that it takes times I've mentioned it before, that investigations are very complex. And when you're doing canvassing areas or when you're developing evidence, sometimes you get directed to another direction and then that's what makes you go back to certain areas and continue to investigate. Here we are at the 49th hour. But I got to commend the dedication and professionalism of all of us that I mentioned earlier because it's that passion to bring someone to justice that led us to get this info that we got today to be able to provide to you.
Governor Dan McKee
One second, sorry.
Colonel Oscar Perez
With these images and videos, are you all going to distribute them to the media? Can you distribute them?
Ted Docks
100 you are sorry? Yes.
Dana Perino
Mr. Attorney General, yesterday you made it clear we didn't have an image of this person's face. Now these images show we do have this person's face. Is this going to be key in solving this case, which you seem very dedicated to doing?
Colonel Oscar Perez
Now look, I think, as I've said multiple times today, that these investigations are like threads that you pull on a garment and some of them you pull and the garment doesn't open up and other ones you pull and the garment comes undone. I think when you go out and get a, you know, a better image of the person's face, that can only help the public help us identify this person and confirm their that they're the right person when that time comes. You know, the prosecutors today have been working with the law enforcement agents and police officers to advance this investigation. And I would describe today's work as making steady progress to identifying the person that we saw in the video that was released yesterday. And the sooner we can identify that person, the sooner we can, I think, blow this case open. But that's work that has to happen in the next 24 to 36 hours.
Emily Compagno
What intelligence led you to believe that.
Dana Perino
There was no further threat to the community today? You mentioned yesterday that there was no additional evidence. Can you just expand upon that to.
Governor Dan McKee
It's the same as yesterday, which is ever since 4:05 on Saturday, which was when the first call came into Brown, there's been no new, credible, specific threat anywhere in the Providence community.
Dana Perino
With respect, Mayor, there was no threats made prior to the shooting. So how can people feel safe with that information?
Governor Dan McKee
The way in which we are trying to reassure our residents is through a noted visible police presence throughout the community. It is going to be hard for my city to feel safe going forward. This has shaken us. That will be true tomorrow. I suspect that will be true the day after the general convict someone. This is a process to restore a sense of safety. But we're going to take those step at a time. And the first step in what we're trying to provide today, and which we did well with the assistance of our neighbors and we're grateful for it, is a noted visible police presence to provide some confidence for families that are taking their kids to school, people who have to get to work to work a shift. You know, I spent lunchtime today walking down Thayer street, and for our guests, Thayer street is the commercial district right adjacent to campus. And I talked to one of the women at Antonio's, which some of you know, is a pizza by the slice joint. And she said, you know, I didn't need. I didn't want to come to work today, but I needed to work, I needed to take the shift.
Dana Perino
And.
Governor Dan McKee
And that's a very real thing happening in our community right now. But she noticed and she appreciated the fact that there were patrolmen walking up and down Thayer Street. It made her feel a little bit better. And when she comes to work tomorrow, I hope she feels a little bit better after that. That's where we are right now in terms of restoring a sense of safety to the community, and that's what we're going to continue to try to do. Bill, go ahead.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Two questions to that point. A lot of people scared right now. A lot of people confused right now in the city. Can you speak to them directly, summarizing what you just said or any other thoughts from the heart?
Greg Gutfeld
Your take right now.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Is Providence safe?
Governor Dan McKee
Yeah, Providence remains a very safe city. And Providence receives really the best law enforcement. You know, I believe in the country and today, especially at this moment, it's being augmented by great professionals of other Rhode Islanders, state police and others. And our federal partners. But my sense of the community right now is that this is starting to get very real and very personal. And I heard that today. I heard that last night at the vigil. You know, we're all two degrees of separation from one another. And now people are starting to share stories with one another of, oh, my neighbor was nearby and oh, my friend's kid was supposed to go to that review session but didn't. I'm starting to hear that stories and I think all the Rhode Islanders in the room are starting to hear those stories. I heard that story again today with one of our customers, is one of the teachers. And so it's starting to get very personal for our community, which is hard. And that's, I think, where we are sort of emotionally in the process. But we're here from one another. That's the scary side. The upside is that this is a tight knit community that looks out for one another. The governor was there. All the officials who were up here with me tonight were with us at Lippett park last night. It was 10 degrees, it was loosely organized, and yet hundreds of people came out because they wanted to be with one another. They were hugging their neighbors, they were crying. They're offering each other support. So this community will heal from this. We will move forward. But that doesn't make light of, and I'm certainly not making light of the fear and anxiety that persists. But the only way we're going to move forward through it is one step at a time. And today's one of those steps. Go ahead. Do you have any idea what kind of firearm was used in this shooting?
Colonel Oscar Perez
How many rounds were fired?
Ted Docks
Do you have any details of that? It was several rounds and it was a small caliber. Actually, 9 millimeter firearm was used and it was several rounds into it. And obviously, as we all know, the casualties and the injured people, it's just terrible. So, yes, two questions.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Who is the lead investigator on this now? And secondly, what do you believe that first of interest was doing in that video and those pictures that you obtained?
Ted Docks
Yes, so the first question, the lead is obviously we're taking the lead, but we couldn't do this job without the assistance, as I mentioned, the collaboration of all the different agencies and municipalities. This is a team effort. This is important to us. As the mayor stated, it has shocked the city and a lot of people are concerned. So this is an effort to put handcuffs on somebody and it takes a whole team to do that.
Colonel Oscar Perez
My second question is, do you, what do you think he was doing? Was he staking out the area? Because this was the day before the shootings, correct?
Ted Docks
Correct. And so it was. It was a few hours before. And I'll tell you that at this point, that's all we have. So it was a few hours before what he was doing. We'll be able to find out further once we investigate. Go ahead, John.
Mayor Smiley
Go ahead.
Colonel Oscar Perez
John DiPietro, patrol life. Can you talk about is it unusual to change the direction of an investigation as it's going on?
Ted Docks
That's a great question, John. I think that, you know, all detectives throughout this nation and in the world understand that when you investigate in a case, it takes different paths. You know, you start somewhere, you start here, and all of a sudden something else pops off and you're going in a different direction. And that's what happens. It's complex. And at the end of the day, you have to investigate. You have to pull every rock, you have to look at every video, you have to examine evidence, you have to check ballistics. It just takes a lot of work. You have to interview witnesses, and sometimes that takes you to a whole different path. And as a police officer and a detective, you have to make sure that you don't get into the tunnel vision in order to be able to that right answer. So, yeah, they do change. Go ahead, Steph. Sorry. Go ahead, Steph.
Emily Compagno
Considering that from what time passes, it will be harder to make an arrest.
Ted Docks
I'll tell you, every minute, Every minute counts. Every minute counts, but it doesn't stop. Is the dedication and professionalism of this department, as well as our partners.
Emily Compagno
Believe.
Dana Perino
That any of the victims, whether the victims who died or the others, were.
Emily Compagno
Targeted by this shooter or that he.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Was just shooting randomly, indiscriminately.
Ted Docks
That's all part of the investigation, Steph.
Mayor Smiley
Yeah.
Ted Docks
So we'll continue to investigate further.
Colonel Oscar Perez
He also explained the FBI today was.
Emily Compagno
Searching in the bushes and kicking around.
Colonel Oscar Perez
The snow or moving the snow on Waterman Street.
Emily Compagno
We have known since Saturday that the.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Potential suspect walked down Waterman Street.
Harold Ford Jr.
It was in the first video.
Emily Compagno
Why would you be now looking in.
Colonel Oscar Perez
The bushes for something on Waterman street.
Dana Perino
Two days later after it has snowed?
Ted Docks
So I just. I just answered, John, the same question of how investigations, they turn and lead you in a different direction. We might have used all our energies in the first few days to investigate something. And here we are now heading back to that same place to continue to investigate. And that's why you saw that. Because the investigations change on a daily basis.
Greg Gutfeld
Of the 911 call or emergency.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Calls that came in when this first, first 911 calls to come in, were those dispatched by Brown University police or Providence police?
Ted Docks
It was dispatched by the911 center, and yes, we responded immediately, within minutes. You saw the Providence police crews are pulling up? That's correct.
Governor Dan McKee
Patrick. Patrick, have you received any major indication.
Colonel Oscar Perez
On whether this was personally motivated, political or otherwise? There are any threats to Brown that they have turned over that would give.
Governor Dan McKee
Us an indication of why this might have happened?
Ted Docks
It's a great question, and that's something that we're all asking ourselves, and we'll continue to investigate to be able to get that insight.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Colonel, in front here, do you have.
Emily Compagno
Reason to believe, believe that this person is no longer in the community?
Colonel Oscar Perez
Because can you continue to try to.
Emily Compagno
Reassure the public that they are safe?
Colonel Oscar Perez
But you also just said that something.
Emily Compagno
Like this person you believe is armed and dangerous.
Ted Docks
So how can both be true? Well, yeah, right. And that's something that's unknown. But like the mayor stated, I'll tell you that we have enhanced enforcement in that area. We have. Steph stated earlier, we have a lot of officers in the area. So in that sense, it's going to be safe. But however, as well, I just want to remind the community that our priority in law enforcement and in the city is to keep our constituents safe, keep them informed, and to keep them committed to understand that we're a professional, we're dedicated. We're going to put somebody in handcuffs, and we're going to continue to do this job. So I want to believe that they.
Emily Compagno
Are no longer in this community.
Ted Docks
That's something that we're continuing to investigate.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Colonel Perez, just real quick, Tom Quinlan's.
Jesse Waters
Avrohom on the trajectory of where this guy went.
Governor Dan McKee
From the videos that you saw, where is the last place that you would.
Colonel Oscar Perez
You have a clear video of seeing him?
Jesse Waters
Is it like, are you still getting.
Greg Gutfeld
Video from houses in that area?
Colonel Oscar Perez
And, you know, Colonel Weaver, just real quick, in terms of the state's response of how much enforced patrol. We know about the enforced patrol in the province, but are you putting throughout the state to keep the highways, you.
Greg Gutfeld
Know, keep an eye on the highways?
Colonel Oscar Perez
We have increased our patrols throughout the state, and we will respond accordingly to any requests for additional assistance. This is a collaborative effort not only from our uniform division, but also our Detective Bureau is embedded here with Providence and our federal partners. And we will not stop until we find out who the suspect is and bring them to justice.
Ted Docks
I just want to. I just want to clarify. I just want to clarify Something because it seems that we're a little confused as far as the video itself. It says 2pm it was dead, day off, two hours prior 2pm Just let me just finish with the. Go ahead. Thanks.
Greg Gutfeld
Where's the last video that you actually.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Have video from in that area?
Ted Docks
It's in the vicinity of Hope street between Benevolent and Manning Street.
Governor Dan McKee
That's before the shooting.
Ted Docks
That's correct, yes.
Colonel Oscar Perez
Two hours prior. Dan, this video that you just released more than anything, is key to wrapping to this case.
Ted Docks
Okay.
Colonel Oscar Perez
We have a closer picture of his face. We have a closer picture of his body based on that and witness interviews. You have a new description of the person of interest now because you look like a guy just walking around the neighborhood. Is there a new description you can give us?
Ted Docks
There is, and it will be on that poster that we're going to be releasing on the. On the images and the, the height, weight and things of that nature are all posted on that and that it's something that we're investigating there. See?
Emily Compagno
All right, guys, so you were just watching live as we heard from Mayor Smiley, Governor McKee and Colonel Perez, which is the chief of police there in Providence, Rhode island, as they had some updates and it seemed like many questions are still left unanswered.
Greg Gutfeld
Harold?
Harold Ford Jr.
Yeah, first of all, good to be with everybody. Unfortunate day prayers across the world, Australia, California, Brown University, obviously, Syria, and the families, our fallen soldiers, their families. The press conference here, I think we were remarking around the table, probably could have been a little more organized in how they delivered some of the information. I give them a lot of grace and a lot of. A lot of. Remember, we had the shooting just not far from here in New York, the shooting of the United Healthcare CEO. It took several days to find Luigi Mengioni. And we had a bunch of leads and a bunch of things were coming in. Even our own Charlie Kirk. They arrested or detained somebody, at least one person before finding the person. But this press conference here, I wish they had led. When Jesse and I were talking that video, they released a new video that was just two hours before the alleged shooting took place by whomever, and they believe it may be this guy. They still haven't gotten to any motives. I was curious if they couldn't. There was no speculation and I think Greg said it well during break. They just don't know. And it's probably best they don't say if they don't know. But it is curious here, 36 hours after. We don't really have any motives, I'm sure The residents of Rhode island were reassured to hear the police chief and the other deputy police chief say that there are increased patrols across the city and they're trying their hardest to restore whatever level of comfort and safety a community can have when there's a killer or maybe killers on the loose. You educated me, Emily, during a 9 millimeter. I think all of us about the size of a 9 millimeter, so we at least know what the weapon is. But I was curious that there was no reporter that asked the question, are there more videos? Because they clearly may have had this, and it's probably strategic why they didn't release it yesterday. But if there are more videos, I hope that they're using them. I hope that the press will continue to ask them. Because if you're a resident of Rhode island and you're a student at Brown or you're a parent of a student at Brown, you want to know as much as you possibly can about whom this person is and if indeed this person is the killer, and more importantly, what are they doing and what steps are they taking and what more resources they need to find him. So I give them some grace. But I think that this press conference could have been a little clearer, cleaner, and more precise.
Dana Perino
Could I just be kind of jump in on that on the press conference? Harold's being very kind.
Harold Ford Jr.
Well, they got a job to do.
Dana Perino
This was. It was a hot mess of a press conference. First of all, you could barely hear them. It is disorganized. The shot looked terrible. That none of that to me said, we've got confidence here. And I know that it's not easy. I understand that investigations are underway. That is hard. They spent about 15 minutes of that press conference with the wrong information out there saying that that video was from the day before. Then it's like, oh, it was a reporter's question. Like, wait, actually, let me correct that. I would say the next time they come out, provide information to the public and say, here are the things we know, here's what we don't know. They spent a lot of time at the beginning congratulating themselves for protecting the community today and putting counselors in the schools today, but not being able to say what they had done on the Saturday. The president of the university on Saturday night still didn't even know anything. Six hours later. I feel like the people of Rhode island and certainly the victims families deserve better here.
Jesse Waters
Jesse, that was a disaster. They got the guy's height, they got his weight, and they go, you want to update the country on what this guy's ID looks like. And they go, we'll put it on the website. You have millions of people watching the press conference live, and you don't want to tell anybody. You say, put it out on a website.
Ted Docks
Come on.
Jesse Waters
Is the guy 220? Is he Caucasian? What? They didn't even do it. And then they get the timeline wrong. Like Dana said, I couldn't hear a word he said. Everyone's trying to back off. No one knows what's going on. It's three days later after a gunman walked into an Ivy League university building and murdered the vice president of the College Republicans, killed two people, injured 11, and walks away. We don't know where he is. We don't know what he is, and doesn't seem to be that concerning to the people that were delivering that press conference. This was a premeditated target attack. The guy was casing the facility beforehand. They have 800 cameras at this university. They didn't have a camera at the entrance to the building, so you can see who goes in and out of the building. This is stupid. I feel bad for the people of Providence. I feel terrible for the people of Brown University, and they have to get this together. And it was 20 minutes after the shooting took place that they even sent out an alert to the student body. They never even had any sirens going off on campus. Do, do, do. Do they even do it? They blew it. And then they got the wrong guy and said, oops, okay, well, never mind. And then they say, trust us, the place is safe. Well, I'm sorry no one trusts you guys. It's a mess up there. And I really hope they get this guy soon, because every day that goes by. You know what I mean?
Emily Compagno
Greg, I know you had some thoughts on the Bondi shooting. Do you want to talk about that?
Greg Gutfeld
I mean, since we're talking about this press conference, it's kind of tedious. And I don't. And I'm with Harold, like, you don't want to hammer people that are going through something, but why is it that all these mayors seem like such dweebs? This guy, he doesn't offer any confidence at all in what he's doing. I look him up. He's like, for climate resiliency, people that think that progress can be gamed if you just do a long conversation. So they just do these long meetings. They talk about the backstory, the community, all the. They use all these catchphrases, and then they. They convince themselves that they're actually doing something, but they're Just talking. And then you have the signer, the signage guy, who is like, I'm sorry, but we have closed captioning now. You know, it's like, I don't need to be distracted by that, especially something that long. But the mayor sucks. I'm just going to say, put that out there. And I don't really have anything else, except I always. It's always weird when they say, we will not stop until we get this person. Well, you wouldn't keep going if you did, so I don't know if that's necessary. And this is basically what the guy looks like. So thank you for 40 minutes of us having to work it through that way. In terms of what happened in Australia, it shows you the distinction between one kind of violence and another. There's one that erupts from an internal source, you know, a betrayal, resentment. You look at, like Rob Reiner's son, a personal vendetta. But then there's the other, which is the. Where the ignition of violence is environmental, external, a swirl of repetitive persuasion, antisemitism, you know, a transmission of deadly information that is just going around the globe. And it's all transmitted largely by dupes, students, campus students, all the people screaming from the river to the sea, Congratulations, they got to the beach. Are you gonna react to that? You probably aren't. You probably don't even know this is happening. But this is what killed Charlie Kirk. It's what gets Trump shot. It's what slaughters Jews, which is that they just create a narrative and then they let it go. How soon after October 7th did we watch an anti Jew narrative spread and have rallies in Sydney, Australia and elsewhere? There were hate rallies and pro Hamas rallies, and the narrative of genocide was directed at Jews. It was a propagandized exercise. Obviously, Hamas is situating itself under hospitals and schools to achieve that propaganda, and yet the left gobbled it up and made it easier for more of these actions to take place. And I'm sure after this massacre, the. You're also going to see the whole ideology flip, and it's going to be a subtle version of they had it coming. And I'll end on this. It is amazing how the targets of violence are the least violent people. Meanwhile, as civilized people, we bend over backwards not to demonize groups, even if they have a propensity for violence. We condemn the violence, but never say, let's get them, boys, you know, but they create a narrative that these people are evil and so this is what they get. But you never see it in reverse. You know, we don't say, from the river to the sea, let's get Muslims. We don't see that or say that.
Emily Compagno

A horrific tragedy that's shocking Hollywood. Legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle Singer Reiner found brutally murdered in their home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. Their throats slashed. Nick Reiner, the son of Rob, arrested and booked for murder. He was originally held on a $4 million bail, but that status has been changed to no bail. Just months ago, Rob had set aside politics while reacting to the brutal murder of Charlie Kirk.
Colonel Oscar Perez
That should never happen to anybody. I don't care what your political beliefs are. That's not acceptable. That's not a solution to solving problems.
Jesse Waters
Harold Ford. You knew Rob Reiner?
Harold Ford Jr.
I did. I met him 25 years ago. When? During the election of President, then Governor Bush and Al Gore. The last. The day of the election. He and several people from Hollywood came to Tennessee to try to be helpful to Al Gore. And we spent 24 to 36 hours together and maintained an acquaintanceship and friendship. My heart goes out to his family and to all of his loved ones and people who knew him extremely well. I watched Billy Crystal walk down the street. He ended up believing his wife as they were obviously devastated and heartbroken about what happened. I listened to many around the country today. And last night, and I woke up last night, Greg. And I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I went to the bathroom and I.
Greg Gutfeld
Try not to wake you.
Harold Ford Jr.
I walked in the kitchen and saw the headline. I thought I was dreaming. I thought that maybe there was something in my eyes that. And then to read that, I'll say this, I don't like saying this, but I have to tell you, listening to him, what he said and what we've been talking about, right and wrong. I hope President Trump comes back out and makes a different statement about Rob Reiner. This was an American, you can disagree with him wholeheartedly. But to be killed by your child, a man who loved his son, loved his family, clearly something went awry, fatally awry. My heart goes out and my condolences go out, and my prayers go out to his family again, and may his life be a blessing for them, and may Ms. Reiner's life be a blessing for them as well. It's a tough thing for many people who knew him and loved him.
Emily Compagno
Emily I keep thinking about how all of Rob Reiner's films were. The common denominator was, like, the humanity, how, you know, there's some angst and there's. But it's human. And it always resolves on these notes of, like, love and the connection and relationships and so deeply personal. And my favorite favorite movies, so many of them are his, like, the sure Thing and of course, When Harry Met Sally and the Princess Bride. And so to have such a tragic and violent death at the hands of his son, allegedly, is just so deeply shocking. And I sort of think about, and I don't mean to sound trite, because I mean this, but, you know, it's like how they say in first class, you know, first class isn't soundproof. First Class isn't smell proof, meaning you pay all this money and you have this great seat, but you can still, you know, smell if someone stinks. You can still hear the baby screaming behind you. And the point is that here's a family that has so much money and fame and accomplishment and success, and yet there is still allegedly deep angst and violence and a horrific issue that no amount of money or no amount of connections or popularity or, you know, being on the world stage could fix, which is a very sick and troubled and homicidal allegedly son.
Greg Gutfeld
Dana.
Dana Perino
Well, I do think he represented a great little period in American movie history, and thank goodness he loved a rom com. I loved When Harry Met Sally. Of course, the Princess Bride But I first, looking back today, when he was meathead on Archie Bunker. I mean, that was so funny. I loved watching that with my family. So he gave us a lot of entertainment. And I hope that we can extend also some prayers for their daughter who supposedly came upon this scene. And may she be held by God because this is going to be a tough one for her to go forward.
Governor Dan McKee
Sure will be, Greg.
Greg Gutfeld
I think, I mean, before this happened, I think that Rob Reiner's wife were in the worst situation any parent or family member could ever have imagine, because it's unmanageable. It is hell on earth. Just imagine a person, you know as a child who's no longer that person. They're not that person. It's a drug in a human form. You see them on the streets in New York. That is not a human being. That is. That is a drug that is making decisions for its own preservation, which is going against your own survival. It's got to be the worst thing ever. And the worst thing about it. There's nothing you can do but pray that he won't come back. You try to hook, maybe the city, maybe they, you know, you think about it. Could they have institutionalized this guy? He went through rehab, I don't know, a dozen times. This guy and you. And also, rehab is pointless unless you have a system outside it. That's why you keep going in and you don't drink or do drugs. Then you come out and you drink and do drugs. Some people take it as a vacation. I happen to think rehabs don't work unless you have a. A system outside of it that keeps you sober. And it's just a shame that, you know, it's an equal opportunity tragedy. The question always is, how is it, how it can be prevented. In some ways you can't. Yep.
Jesse Waters
So sad.
Harold Ford Jr.
If Joe Biden had said this about anybody, I would have attacked him and said he was completely wrong. I do hope the President comes back and corrects himself.
Greg Gutfeld
He was asked to and he didn't. And I think the thing is, you don't have to like the things that he says all the time. It is why, in my filter, Trump is always words versus deeds. I don't have to like what he says. In fact, I can hate what he says, but I can also think in his brain. He's going, this guy compared me to Hitler. He put a target on my back. I don't like him. It's like, well, if it were me, I'd go like. But I'm sorry, he's dead. But he can't let that go. We don't have to like it. I just look at the deeds. But I get why you're upset.
Harold Ford Jr.
That's wrong. I know. I don't disagree with you, but it's wrong. And we should be able to call out right and wrong. We've talked about it on the show this morning, this early today. That's wrong what he did.
Jesse Waters
Okay, One More Thing is up next.

“There is only one way to beat back radical Islamic terrorism and antisemitism, and that is to be on offense and to have moral clarity... The only way to protect our Western way of life that they would like to destroy is to stay on the offense.”
“What the hell good is the watch list if you’re going to allow that? ... [They] have an arsenal. What the hell good is the watch list if you’re going to allow that?”
“This was... a hot mess of a press conference. First of all, you could barely hear them. It’s disorganized. The shot looked terrible. ... That none of that to me said, we’ve got confidence here.”

This episode of The Five blends intense breaking news coverage of two mass shootings—one terrorism-driven, one under investigation domestically—with broader debate about our societies' readiness and willingness to confront radical antisemitism, terrorism, and public violence. Leaning on their backgrounds and viewpoints, the hosts call for stronger political, institutional, and personal resolve, lament leadership shortcomings, and repeatedly urge clear-eyed, morally unambiguous responses to global and domestic threats. The panel tempers their take with moments of empathy for victims and a sober recognition of the toll such events take on ordinary lives.
