Kami Mamdani
The5.
Greg Gutfeld
Hi, I'm Greg Gutfeld, along with Kennedy, Harold Ford Jr. Jesse Waters and Martha MacCallum. The5. Fresh off his wedding trip to Uganda, Kami Mamdani is back in NYC and trying to clean up his anti police record in the wake of the horrific Midtown massacre that left including an NYPD officer dead.
Kami Mamdani
I am not defunding the police. I am not running to defund the police. Andrew Cuomo is far more comfortable living his life in the past and attacking tweets of 2020, tweets that are clearly out of step with the vision that I have, with the statements that I have put forward. It is in fact to allow those officers to respond to to these serious crimes that many of them signed up to address and to do so by ensuring that we ask them to focus on those crimes and we ask mental health professionals to respond to calls during.
Greg Gutfeld
Islam during a funeral in the Bronx. But Zoran's convenient pivot can't erase his previous disdain for the police.
Kami Mamdani
When we talk about defund the nypd, the entirety of the the push is defund the NYPD and refund all of these different social services and things that actually create safety.
Greg Gutfeld
The Democratic nominee for New York City mayor has joined Governor Hochul in calling for a nationwide ban on assault rifles, despite having armed security officers guard at his wedding.
Kami Mamdani
As mayor, I will lead calls to ensure that we pass the legislation necessary beyond New York, such that every New Yorker can rest assured that we need not prepare for the next iteration of this horrific mass shooting.
Greg Gutfeld
So he's not even mayor of New York. He's already making laws for the country. Harold, it's good to have you back at the table.
Harold Ford Jr.
Glad to be back.
Greg Gutfeld
So I think for New Yorkers, they have to ask themselves who are they electing? You know, the hard left is expecting the pre candidate communist and the typical liberal will tell themselves wishfully no, he's evolved. Can you evolve in the last four years, since 2021?
Harold Ford Jr.
I think you can. First, it's good to be back with you. I think you can. But where he falls short in my estimation is that when asked those basic pointed questions about wanting to disband and disarm that elite unit which went into the Rudin building where blacks are own and some of the others in NFL are located, he didn't say, look, I spoke too hastily. I spoke in a moment of pure rage and upset about what had happened during the year, during 2020. But we can't disband this unit. It's not just about defunding the police, that unit showed up and their job is to show up when unfortunately, you face these kind of crises. And when you live in a city as dynamic, as important, as powerful as New York. We're targets for a lot of things. We're targets for capitalism, we're targets for growth, and we're targets for people who have serious, serious mental problems or who may just be outright criminals or just both. So if I was running against him, Andrew Cuomo and Eric Adams, you just simply not emotionally. But make the case. This is not the young man you want running the city of New York City. This is a young man who has probably some interesting, thoughtful ideas about how to lower price. I don't question his compassion and care for the city. I, but I do question his ability to manage the city. In the last 72 hours, what happened in New York is something that affected the country and affected us here more. And I think every New Yorker has to step back and say, is this the young man we want running our city during times of good and certainly during times of crisis? And my answer today is no.
Greg Gutfeld
Well put. You know, Martha, I still think about his tweet, Nature is Healing, which was directed at the police who were crying in their cars because of the attacks on the police. And he said, nature is healing. But that was just five years ago.
Kennedy
Come on, he's only 33 years old. You don't have that deep of a past at the age of 33 to say, well, that was me way back then. This is not ancient history for this individual. And I think that Harold's point is really well taken. You have to ask yourself, in the city of New York, the biggest, I would say, most important city in the country in many ways, given what happens here, who do you want standing on that line? Who do you want standing next to those police officers who are at attention as they watch the body of one of their own walk by? Is it this young man who said, we don't need an investigation to know that the NYPD is a racist, anti queer, major threat to public safety? Not just, I don't like them. He thinks they're the violent problem of the country. And then he said, clearly what we need is to defund the nypd. And you know what will happen? As I've heard from a number of people in the nypd, they love this city, but they will not work under him. They will leave. They will resign. They're already resigning. A lot of them have hit their 20 year period and they're leaving anyway. A lot more of them are likely to resign if indeed he is in office. And I just find it so disingenuous. Two things when he said, oh, I just said that stuff because it was George Flynn. Okay, so which one are you? So what's gonna happen a year from now that's gonna make you say the same kind of stuff? Because you're just floating around with the wind and you haven't the wisdom to figure out who you are, and that's a problem. That's fine, take your time. Figure it out. But you have to have the wisdom of a little bit of experience to figure out who you are. But he says, oh, you know, well, I'm really famous now. I'm well known. I'm in a position where I need to have armed men outside my wedding. Unfortunately, that's just the way life is for me now.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. You know, Kennedy, I think what depresses me is that when you look at the states of every blue city, Louisiana, Minneapolis, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, they're all one party sanctuaries for lefties. It's going to happen. Like, why can't other cities look at these cities and go, we can't do that. We can't do that. But they're going to do it. Because this guy is bad, if not worse than Chicago's mayor.
Jesse Watters
I mean, we've had a bad mayor. One mayor ago, Bill de Blasio. And everyone thought that, you know, this is as bad as it gets. And, you know, I've said this a few times, compared to what Mamdani will be, not what he could be. Because this is not theoretical. He has telegraphed exactly what he wants to do with the city. And if his policies take hold, he will run it into the ground. He will make the Blasio look like Rudy Giuliani. And, you know, this is the bad kind of transformational because, you know, we always talk about the pendulum swinging and the transformational candidates who come in, but he makes this place so dangerous. You know, to Martha's point, you can't have cops who know that their mayor doesn't just distrust them. And that was the case with de Blasio. He has active disdain for them. And he is running against his own record, just like Kamala Harris did. We're gonna talk about her in a little bit. And he doesn't have that much of a record to run on, unfortunately. It's not just a few things he said. He betrayed his political philosophy, which is, you know, he said that we have to defund the police because without queer liberation, you can't have a police department. It's like, what does that even mean? You know? And he's up against. This is a very emotional time for families who have lost NYPD members because the NYPD brotherhood, they will never forget what he has said. And the sisters, the mothers, and the widows of the slain officers, they will never forgive what he has said and his actions.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. You know, and Jesse, he still wants to replace police with social workers when dealing with, like, violent protests, which is basically saying, continue protesting. There is no disincentive to being violent.
Martha MacCallum
Yeah. And social workers, they work for the state, so they're not very well paid. So it's like the worst type of therapy you could possibly get. It's not like the type you. You see, Greg, I have to disagree with Harold. Harold says you. You really can change your mind on stuff. I changed my mind on iced coffee. I used to think it was water, and then I had it like a cold brew on a hot summer day. And now I like iced coffee. Defunding the police is a lot different than that. That is fundamental. He's changing his mind on fundamental police critical things that are the pillars of civilization. We have a clip of him saying prisons are obsolete. He wants to abolish prisons. We have a tweet of him saying that we should get rid of all guns. So he wants to destroy the Second Amendment, the border capitalism, prisons, and the police. These aren't new ideas. These aren't creative ideas. These are the same dumb Marxist ideas that we've been hearing for decades. And it's just destruction. And at a certain point, you have to think democracy is not a suicide pact. Right. We're just not going to allow a faction of radicals in a great city like this to come in, elect a guy, and have it destroyed. What kind of democracy is that? It's not tolerable to do that. This guy is now running like Kamala Harris with a beard. All the crazy stuff he said, he's like, ah, you know what? Never mind. You can't allow that. We won the Cold War, but then Marxism survived, and these teachers at universities got bolder. They kept teaching it. So you have unchecked immigration and you have unchecked indoctrination, and you spit them all out into Manhattan and they vote for a communist who wants to destroy the city and. And we're supposed to sit back and let it happen. I don't think that's a very good idea. I think we have to bring back Joe McCarthy and you're that guy. I am nominating you as the new Joe McCarthy.
Harold Ford Jr.
Let me just.
Greg Gutfeld
Why me? I'm more like Charlie McCarthy.
Harold Ford Jr.
Let me just make clear I'm not supporting the young man, number one. Number two, I think people can change as long as your change is not based on ambition, but is based on authenticity. President Trump was pro choice when I met him. He's Now Pro Life. J.D. vance called him a terrible name. J.D. vance said, I learned that he was not that person. He came around. I believe that people can change. But what I was not convinced by was what Mondame said the other day. And that's where you and I agree. But don't put me in the camp.
Martha MacCallum
Do you like iced coffee, Harold?
Harold Ford Jr.
Never have I tried it. I don't know how you switched your mind on that, but we'll talk about that in a break.
Martha MacCallum
Okay?
Greg Gutfeld
Interesting. All right, coming up, after calling off a run for California governor, Harris rolls out her next hustle.
Jesse Watters
My eyes, they're dry.

Martha MacCallum
She can't speak. She can't talk. She can't do an interview.
Greg Gutfeld
Nobody knew who Kamala was. Nobody knew her last name.
Martha MacCallum
Harris. I thought she was a terrible candidate. Look, don't forget she didn't really get the nomination. I mean, that whole nomination was strange.
Jesse Watters
Talking about presidential physical fitness, any spike in the football, there's the president talking about his former rival as Kamala Harris says she's not running for governor of California. But don't worry, she's still trying to run from her failures. Harris trying to rebrand ahead of a possible 2028 run, announcing that she will be releasing a book about her dumpster fire 2024 campaign. And she added a weird social media video for good measure.
Kennedy
Watch. I believe there's value in sharing what I saw, what I learned and what I know it will take to move forward. Sometimes the fight takes a while, but I remain full of hope and I remain clear eyed. I will Never stop fighting. Everyone thinks you've been kicking back drinking margaritas on the beach, but really, you've been hard at work writing a book, meeting with leaders, thinking about the future of our country. Who said that?
Jesse Watters
Oh, wow. She's talking to herself about drinking margaritas. Yeah. Harris is trying to scrub herself clean of Biden's lingering stink, but Dems and the media aren't convinced that Kamala 7.0.
Kennedy
Will do the trick.
Greg Gutfeld
A lot of Democrats want to turn.
Harold Ford Jr.
The page on all of that and look forward. And so it's not going to be easy for her.
Greg Gutfeld
There's going to be a book tour. And one of the things that I talked to people who have been dealing with it with her is that she really struggled with what she was going to say about. About Joe Biden.
Jesse Watters
Democrats historically have not been interested in nominating again.
Kennedy
Someone who ran got the nomination and failed.
Harold Ford Jr.
I don't know if she should run again, but I definitely would like to see her write a book. I definitely would like to, you know, see her start a podcast and just build a real connection with people.
Jesse Watters
All right, Harold. She doesn't need to start a podcast. She can't string a sentence together, let alone, you know, one to three hours carrying a medium like that. And I argue the only book that's worth reading is if she's actually honest about the enemies that she will claim tanked her chances.
Harold Ford Jr.
Look, the book will either sell. As simplistic and as stupid as it sounds, it will either sell or won't sell. I'm actually interested in refreshing analysis there, but the market will determine whether or not she's able to return. I agree with part of what David Axelrod said and part of what Charlemagne, the gods said there when he said, look, I'm not. I don't wake up in the morning saying, gosh, I can't wait for another Kamala Harris candidacy for the presidency or another campaign on her behalf. But I'm going to be curious to know if she realizes, at least from my standpoint, what the weaknesses were in her campaign. You can't run in a change election and say that. You don't. You can't think of anything wrong or anything different that you would do from the last four years when the country was two to one, if not more than that, wanting a change. And then we've said a number of things about her. Some things I think we go overboard with, but a lot of things are true, at least the perception of her. So she's got a lot to overcome. And if she's able to sell, get a lot of book sales. Hooray. And good for her. But I hope, to your point, you say that she honestly confronts some of the things that we all saw happening in that campaign, and if it does nothing more, it'll give the next nominee on the Democrat side some lessons about what he or she should do and mainly what they should not do.
Jesse Watters
All right, so, I mean, she clearly should not run for governor of California because she knows there's a very good chance she will lose that race. And in California, they have the jungle primary, which means she, more than likely, unless Steve Hilton does the job, that she will be facing another Democrat and Republicans will grudge vote for her opponent. So what is the point of all of this if she's not gonna be honest? And she's just writing a very classy little lady book. Does that help her at all in 2028?
Martha MacCallum
It does, because she needs the money, and she's probably getting between three and six for it.
Harold Ford Jr.
Million.
Martha MacCallum
Closer to six if it's juicy. Because remember, she doesn't have a high net worth and her husband doesn't either, and his law firm is being sanctioned by Trump, so they need cash. And I say you go in in October or September, the book publishes. It's about a week or two before Binder's book, so that's good so far. And then she does the book tour, and the tour reconnects her with the American people, the crowds and the donors, and kind of launches her towards the next year's midterms. And then she'll campaign for people and she'll raise money for them, and she hopes the Democrats win the midterms, and that kind of sets her up. So after the midterms, she's going to have to figure out what she's going to do. Her name ID is strong, so she's going to be leading in the polls, but that doesn't mean much because no one really wants to give her money. And so she has to decide, do I get in, do I get out? I say she does the Al Gore thing, a nice little exit ramp, and finds something to specialize in a cause.
Jesse Watters
Like what?
Martha MacCallum
Anything where you can make money. You travel, you write books, you do a few interviews, but you live a good life. You know, just stop banging your head against the wall. You're never getting back into the White House. No one likes you. Just enjoy your golden years. That's what she should do.
Jesse Watters
I mean, unfortunately for her and the Bidens, they're not going to be as lucrative as it has been for people who've left the White House and the Naval Observatory before them.
Kennedy
Well, I mean, you know, I think when a lot of people hear that Joe Biden's getting $10 million for a book in the real world, they're like, that's a ton of money. And he's making $10 million. I'll be very interested to see how many people are tearing up the bookstores to buy that book. But the fact of the matter is that nobody. I think it's going to be very interesting to see in the midterms how many of these candidates want Joe Biden and or Kamala Harris up on stage with them. I mean, that's going to be a major test. I agree with Harold. The book will be a test for her and whether or not anybody calls her up. Remember, Joe Biden was like after he dropped out, well, I want to go where I can be helpful. Nowhere.
Jesse Watters
Like, not here.
Kennedy
Okay, you could be most helpful staying home was what the message that he was given, that was loud and clear. So I think her moment has long passed, and I would be very surprised if we see her come back. The one Hail Mary she could do is say, you know what? Now, I want to go on Joe Rogan, and I want to talk to him for three hours, and I want to tell him everything. I mean, short of that, I don't think there's much.
Jesse Watters
I argue she has to do that in this book. If she doesn't do that with this book, that's the only thing that would make her interested.
Kennedy
People say she's disloyal. She, you know, threw him under the bus. So that's why I thought Isaac Devore's point was good about, you know, how she's gonna manage this book tour. It's gonna go one way or the other, really boring, or, you know, all hell breaks.
Jesse Watters
No one wants to hear a love letter to Joe Biden at this point. Apparently, the National Bar association does because he's speaking in Chicago tonight. Greg, what was she doing when she was talking to herself about drinking margaritas on the beach?
Kennedy
What was she doing?
Greg Gutfeld
I gotta tell you, from personal experience, some ideas seem really great when you're drunk. This was like, I'll pretend that I'm talking to myself, whispering. And then she comes down. She's like, oh, you're here. Where is she filming this? Is she, like, in a bunker behind where. This is poorly thought out, obviously. Again, she doesn't have friends, because friends would take. Pull her aside and go, this is stupid. It's like, you know, your friends always tell you what not to wear in public. They care about you. She doesn't have any friends. Imagine being her ghostwriter. You know, as you work with her, you're going to act like English is her second or third language. And it's going to be really easy if the book is fake because there will be complete sentences, verbs will come after the nouns, and everything will be complete. But if it were a real bit real book, it would be a cult classic. It would be like Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy. Do you remember that? Yeah.
Kennedy
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
You know, it'd be like one page will just be about clouds. How amazing clouds are. They're like nature's mashed potatoes. And then you turn the page and then it'll be about worms. Worms are scary, but they feel really good on your leg. I would buy that book. But here's the thing. You don't have to worry about any of these people. Liberals, when even the ones that lose, they always have a luxurious welfare state. They have publishing houses that are willing to pay them huge advances. They have think tanks and conferences who pay them six figures for one day of work. People pay them huge fees just to show up. It's like everybody that's kind of the reason why they get into it in the first place is they know the parachute is always better than the profession. I just came up with that I'm pretty smart. By the way, I think the Biden cover up scandal is so big, anybody connected to the White House will not be a candidate because they will have to defend themselves. Mayor Pete's gonna have to defend themselves. If you.
Jesse Watters
He's crying. He's not doing a very good job.
Greg Gutfeld
If you were to take somebody from the Biden White House and put them in the White House, that would be like pulling over a drunk driver. And that drunk driver failing the sobriety test, but then going, you know what, you can go ahead and drive home. You're not going to give him a second chance. You can't.
Jesse Watters
That is a great analogy.
Greg Gutfeld
Thank you. Thank you, Kennedy. Oh, such a pleasure.
Kennedy
All right.
Jesse Watters
Well, washed up liberal media losers are curling up on the sofa as they settle in for a little therapy session to discuss why viewers hate them. That's next.
Kennedy
Baby just got played, yo.
Greg Gutfeld
Love is such a game yo.
Kennedy
Baby just got played, yo. You can play that.
Martha MacCallum
I wish my tv.
Greg Gutfeld

Martha MacCallum
The liberal media is holding a therapy session to figure out why viewers hate them after Stephen Colbert got canned. Ex ABC host Terry Moran, who was fired for a severe case of tds is now blaming his former network for having anti Trump bias. How rich in part, he writes this. ABC News has the same problem so many leading cultural institutions do in America. A lack of viewpoint diversity. And former late night talk show host Samantha Bee, remember her, has seen the light saying the decision to cancel Colbert was a no brainer.
Jesse Watters
It definitely was hemorrhaging money. I don't think that that's, you know.
Kennedy
These legacy shows like they are hemorrhaging.
Jesse Watters
They are money with no real end to that.
Kennedy
Yeah in sight.
Jesse Watters
People are just not tuning in. So I'm, I like shocked. Not surprised.
Martha MacCallum
The only question be seem to ignore is why people are tuning out. This could be why. So far this year the not so lovely ladies of the view have had 102 liberal guests on the show and zero conservatives. And they spew nonsense like this.
Kennedy
We just marked last week Trump's hundredth day in office.
Jesse Watters
These moments are not normal. This is not normal.
Greg Gutfeld
We are united in going after Trump.
Harold Ford Jr.
Mock him. That's the kryptonite to malignant narcissists.
Kennedy
You talked about how the skin tone of people who are being rounded up is different how you're treated. This is not breaking news. But it is, it seems to be breaking news.
Martha MacCallum
Was it nice to see Samantha be again, Greg?
Greg Gutfeld
She's a lovely, lovely person. Look, I think when people keep saying this is the death knell for late night, I'm going to disagree. It could be freeing for the few that are left to leave the fold. You know Colbert's firing.
Kennedy
True.
Greg Gutfeld
It is about a lack of viewpoint diversity and the financial disaster that it caused. That is a message to the other guys that now you have an argument against doing not just partisan politics but any politics. You don't have to do it. You could be like Carson or Leno. This is after all, it's supposed to be fun. You're not supposed to send your viewers home angry, which is I think what these shows were doing. I am doing Jimmy Fallon next week. Yes, I'm psyched about it because Fallon comes across As a great guy, nice guy, and also me going on his show shows him he's not worried about upsetting his peers. Remember, you got a lot of stick for humanizing Trump when he tossled his hair, but didn't come from anybody but the people on the left who wanted to teach all entertainers a lesson that if you dare show that Trump is a human, then you're toast. And so it's kind of nice that he's taken this risk. And I know, Harold, you're excited because I'll be on with the Jonas Brothers. They're actual brothers, unlike the Doobie Brothers.
Martha MacCallum
Wait, the Doobie Brothers weren't related? Harold, let's go to you on that.
Greg Gutfeld
Can you name all the bands named Brothers that weren't related?
Martha MacCallum
Go.
Kennedy
That weren't related?
Greg Gutfeld
Yes. Well, can't be the.
Harold Ford Jr.
Not all of them were all. The Almond Brothers were not all related. But there were members of the band that were there. You had. The Osmond Brothers were all related. You had.
Greg Gutfeld
Did Doobie.
Harold Ford Jr.
You said who you say that was Chemical Brothers. Chemical Brothers. But let me get around to one or two related.
Jesse Watters
But they did like, I think, related.
Kennedy
The Gibb Brothers. Go ahead, harold.
Harold Ford Jr.
Were the BGs. What were they? The BGs.
Kennedy
Well, they weren't called the Something Brothers, but they were brothers.
Martha MacCallum
Brothers.
Kennedy
Gift related.
Harold Ford Jr.
The brothers Gi That's. And the brothers Johnson. I think.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Harold Ford Jr.
I think they might have been brothers too. Strawberry23 so this story here, we talked about it a few times, should not surprise anyone. Greg, I think you nailed it. I didn't know the Fallon thing. That is a great thing. He's actually a great guy too. Two, you had a great line. The last thing you said that Democrats look for the parachute. You know, they're going to get one over the profession, so it doesn't matter. I think Democrats have to staying with your. With your analogy. All of these guys, so many of the people who are being critical of what's happening over the last year, two years, particularly the last six or seven months, seem so personal and it gets petty as opposed to. And it seems asinine as opposed to offering answers. I think if you're going to have people on your show and you're so confident in your own answer, have someone from the other side on that, to me was the most illuminating thing. Jesse's point about the view, having 102 guests and not one guest that might differ from them.
Greg Gutfeld
Have Laura Loomer on.
Harold Ford Jr.
You can have people on whom you disagree with and have a reasonable, forceful, robust debate. And Walk away from it, liking them and still disagreeing from them, disagreeing with him. How do you think I get along with Jesse so well?
Martha MacCallum
It is a business, Kennedy. I mean, these people can't take this so seriously. Sometimes you get let go.
Jesse Watters
Yes, I know, Jesse. I know this firsthand. But guess what? I'm still here. I work hard and I have a big smile on my face because the work is rewarding. And you have people like Seth Meyers, we talked about this on Greg's show last night, who said that if his show is canceled, he's going to have a mental health crisis. That says a lot more about him than it does the state of media. And if you haven't seen this coming, then you should probably dig up Ms. Cleo and have a conversation with her, because this was about the most obvious thing in the world. It is an outdated model that has not made money for a long, long time. But the people in those few posts feel entitled to be there. And I will say this because money is the bottom line. Jimmy Fallon must be worth $100 million if he's having you on. That is the only reason, because in any other climate, he would have been terrified for the backlash. But it just goes to show he's got generational money where he can fly the bird and have a great time. And I hope he does, because he is the last person standing in Late Night, other than you, of course, Sunshine, who actually brings joy and hard work to his job.
Martha MacCallum
Or maybe Lorne Michaels, who still runs that show, could see the writing on the wall and said, book Gutfeld.
Kennedy
Yeah, well, that would be a smart move, wouldn't it? You know, there's a really interesting thing that's been floating around on social media. Johnny Carson being interviewed by Mike Wallace. I don't know if anyone saw it, but it's really interesting. And he talks about why, you know, Mike Wallace is like, why don't you take on the tough topics? And he's like, because that's not what I do. That's not what Jack Benny did. That's not what the greats do. And he said, if I. The minute I do that, I'm gonna have to weigh in on everything, and then I'm gonna lose half my audience. So the other thing I found very striking is, you know, that just these behemoth institutions in broadcast television that you have 200 employees on that show, like, I don't know how many you. You know, we have about 10. We do an hour show every day of the week. And a lot of other segments on other shows, and so working that way is impossible. When I covered the Pope's funeral, I ran into an old friend of mine who worked at cbs. He goes, hey, how many people you guys have here for the Pope's funeral? I was like, well, there's me, there's a booker, there's a producer. How many do you have? 100. He said, we have 100 people in Rome to cover this. I was like, well, there you go.
Martha MacCallum
We have so few staff on primetime. When someone gets pregnant and takes maternity, like, the show falls apart, it's like every person really counts.
Greg Gutfeld
Is that why you're mandating birth control for your staff? Because I think it's completely.
Martha MacCallum
It's against company policy, but it's about the survival of the show. The closing bell may be about to ring for the queen of stocks.
Harold Ford Jr.
After my accident.

Martin, party tonight. All right, a tense moment for Nancy Pelosi as Congress is moving to ban members from trading stocks. They've been talking about this for decades, folks. The former top Dem who raked in between 8 and 42 million from trades in 2024 says that she supports the ban, but she was not happy when she was asked about it on tv. Watch this.
Jesse Watters
Why do you have to read that? We're here to talk about the 60th anniversary of Medicaid. That's what I agreed to come to talk about.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. He accused you of insider trading. What's your response to that?
Jesse Watters
That's ridiculous. In fact, I very much support the stop the trading of members of Congress.
Kennedy
All right, Kennedy. Nancy Pelosi, very peeved.
Jesse Watters
Oh, I thought Jack Tapper had the.
Kennedy
Temerity to actually ask her about what Trump said about her insider trading.
Jesse Watters
Well, it just goes to show that maybe some members of the media are not protecting Democrats like they used to, and she just assumed that she was going into friendly territory, and she agreed to very narrow parameters. And, you know, I think putting on little journalist pants has been beneficial for him since his book came out. Turfing the Biden presidency. So he's just going to kind of spread that around. But this is laughable to think that she wasn't engaging in some version of insider trading and she absolves herself of it by saying, no, it was my husband Paul. He was making all the trades. Well, what was she doing coming home from work and writing everything down in a diary and then just suspiciously leaving it out on Paul's bedside table? So she made the most remarkable trades. You know, she bought Tesla when they were announcing the COVID subsidies. She bought in video before they announced the, the big investment in. Yeah, the CHIPS Act. You know, she bought Netflix before Netflix went into video games. So she has a history of these dubious trades that have made her more money than any brilliant hedge funder who has ever lived. And that's why there's the Nancy Pelosi stock tracker. So you can buy everything she buys because you will be rich.
Kennedy
Yeah, Harold, she outperformed every hedge fund in 2024. I mean, that is unbelievable. And in my mind, as your speaker of the House, right when there's a CHIPS act coming up to be voted on and to be signed, wouldn't you say to your husband, look, honey, like, make sure that this is, you know, we don't want any appearance of impropriety here, so let's just make sure that there's no involvement as this act goes through. Wouldn't that be what you would expect?
Harold Ford Jr.
I would. I'm kind of old fashioned. I don't think you should be. When I was in Congress, you couldn't do any of these things. If anybody started a company or traded in stocks in which we were voting on, you had advance information about something we were going to be voting on and you did something, probably you just wouldn't do it because you'd be so embarrassed and you would probably be indicted. I'm glad that she supports the law. I hope that everyone in the Congress supports and that it passes. I don't know why it wouldn't pass unanimously. I've heard some senators say that they don't believe that it supports capitalism because it means that once you come to, once you enter politics, then you have to take off your capitalist hat. Well, when you have information that others don't have about companies that you can invest in and they cannot invest in, that's called illegal. And whether you're a Democrat, whether you're Republican, you should adhere to that. And if you want to keep trading stocks, I don't begrudge that. Just don't run for public Office. You can't start a company while in office if you have influence over that company. You can't trade in stocks that your vote will impact and influence. It'd be different if everyone else had the information. Then everyone else can say, okay, I like this. I don't like this. And we're all playing from the same information set, but the problem is we're not. So I hope the law passes.
Kennedy
Yeah. And there's no investigation into any of these things. And Hillary Clinton made $100,000 out of $1,000 in 1978 trading cattle futures, which was one of her expertise, is apparently. Jesse, what do you think?
Martha MacCallum
Pennies. Compared to Nance. I mean, she's worth $400 million. She is married to a guy who owns a vineyard, and he's a real estate investor, and he's in his 80s. They're both in their 80s. Now. When you're in your 80s, and you would agree with me, your money is in bonds. You're not risking high amounts of cash trading individual stocks. That's like, not even Warren Buffett does that. This Guy made a $10 million bet on Microsoft two weeks before the Pentagon announced a $22 billion contract with Microsoft. It goes on and on. He bets on Tesla before the EV thing comes out. He makes option calls on Google, Amazon, and Apple. Very sophisticated trade. Right before the antitrust action was going through Congress. I mean, no one on the outside knows about antitrust action. Only insiders inside Congress know about that when it's coming down the pipeline. And now Nancy says she's against it. All of a sudden, okay, that's like, after you made a fortune, you just pull the ladder up so no one else can climb up. Typical Nance move.
Kennedy
There's a lot of people in Congress who don't want to sign on to this, Craig.
Greg Gutfeld
Well, you know, I'm more interested. I'm kind of with Kennedy on this. Well, first of all, Nancy did not look good there. I mean, she's like, it's time. It's time. And she knows it's time because there is this expectation that she has that the media wants to please them or else they won't be invited to the cocktail party. They won't be near the status and the power. And then when that happens, it's like, oh, I'm on my way out. Like, And. And what you also saw, there is no preparation. She just assumed she didn't have to prepare, that she would come up, and she just assumed that kind of question would be asked or she would have had a better answer and she didn't have a better answ. So she looked there and she looked at him and her brain was saying, you are violating the social order by asking that question. Good luck being invited to our house over Christmas.
Harold Ford Jr.
Should. Should presidents be allowed to lunch companies while they're president? Put aside names.
Martha MacCallum
They're saying we have to go. Harold.
Greg Gutfeld
Thank God.
Harold Ford Jr.
Let me look into it.
Kennedy
To be continued. The fastest is next. We'll be right back. I'll be your shotgun rider Till the day I Till the day I die.
Greg Gutfeld
It is time to take the quiz.
Martha MacCallum
It's five questions in less than five minutes. We asked people on the streets of.
Harold Ford Jr.
New York City to play along.
Greg Gutfeld
Let's see how you do.
Jesse Watters
Take the quiz every day at thequiz box, then come back here to see how you did.
Harold Ford Jr.
Thank you for taking the quiz. Welcome back. A couple's dreamy proposal video gets photobombed by a pair of unaware travelers. The man even snacks on a candy bar while taking on the views of Santorini's coast. Look at this poor guy. Kennedy, what are your thoughts on this?
Jesse Watters
I love this so much. Like, I don't know what it is about gen zers and millennials, but everything they do has to be caught on camera and they have to post it to Instagram and TikTok right away. This is so beautiful. This is like generational warfare. And these boomers had no idea. But they got a few nice shots. He's there on his knee. They can pull the stills. But I think it's even better with.
Kennedy
The couple walking in.
Jesse Watters
Maybe it's good luck. They look like they've been together for a long time. So as they say in Greek, many years prime time.
Harold Ford Jr.
Your thoughts?
Martha MacCallum
Well, he cheaped out because he stuck a tripod up. You got to hire a professional. She could have just moved over and still got the shot. He's obviously not that successful. And you better make more money because looking at her, she's going to want some.
Harold Ford Jr.
That's a good feel. How do you follow that?
Greg Gutfeld
A couple of things. Number one, they had hired a professional. This was their second orchestrated proposal. This is all fake. The whole point of a proposal is it has to be kind of by surprise, instantaneous. It should have an element of risk, so that when you're going in with the ring and you get on your knees, she might say, no, which has never happened to me. But I'm just saying this will be this. They'll be divorced in two years.
Jesse Watters
Oh, Greg.
Harold Ford Jr.
Martha, Martha, give us the real story on this.
Kennedy
I am so over these orchestrated events, and then, like, the entire family pops out around the corner, and there's, like, a band and a dinner and everything. Like, when we got engaged, it was, like, at a little restaurant in New York. Popped out the ring, you know, there was. I don't even have one. There's not one picture of this moment, but it's all in my head, which is the only place it needs to be. Yes, but this is garbage, and this needs to stop.
Harold Ford Jr.
The guy looked like he was enjoying whatever he was chewing on here. One more thing. One more thing is up next.
Martha MacCallum
People would ask me who's.

Kennedy
A wombat.
Harold Ford Jr.
Roman Kennedy.
Martha MacCallum
Seagull.
Jesse Watters
Or a little tiny baby donkey.
Kennedy
Smells like. Like metal scraping against each other.
Greg Gutfeld
Well, that is not an animal. Martha, you are expelled. Let's roll the tape.
Kennedy
What is that?
Greg Gutfeld
It's a baby penguin. Pedro the Pengu. Deport him. All right, Jesse.
Martha MacCallum
All right. Coors Light and Dura Dry, teaming up for a deodorant that you put in the refrigerator. It's called Durachill. It smells like beer. Actually, it doesn't smell like beer, and it doesn't have beer in it. But Coors Light made it, and I'm going to use it all week. And I stink, and I love it.
Greg Gutfeld
It's going to. It's going to take 12 of those to work.
Martha MacCallum
Very funny, Greg.
Kennedy
But even use moisturizer in the refrigerator, especially on a hot day.
Martha MacCallum
Honey, what's the deodorant in the fridge?

Podcast Summary: The Five - "Defund Do-Over"
Episode Information:
"The Five" episode titled "Defund Do-Over" delves into the contentious debate surrounding police funding, political maneuvers in New York City, media dynamics, and allegations of insider trading within Congress. Hosted by Greg Gutfeld, the panel features Kennedy, Harold Ford Jr., Jesse Watters, and Martha MacCallum, who engage in spirited discussions, debates, and critiques of current events.
[00:00 – 02:04]
The episode opens with a segment on Kami Mamdani, a Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, who is under scrutiny for his stance on defunding the NYPD following the Midtown massacre.
Kami Mamdani asserts, "I am not defunding the police. I am not running to defund the police..." ([00:30])
Greg Gutfeld challenges Kami's position: "...his convenient pivot can't erase his previous disdain for the police." ([01:06])
Mamdani elaborates on his vision, emphasizing a shift in focus rather than outright defunding: "...allow those officers to respond to these serious crimes..." ([01:13])
[02:04 – 06:03]
Harold Ford Jr. joins the conversation, offering a critical perspective on Mamdani's suitability for mayor.
Jesse Watters echoes similar sentiments, comparing Mamdani unfavorably to former mayors: "...he will run it into the ground. He will make the Blasio look like Rudy Giuliani." ([06:03])
Martha MacCallum emphasizes the potential exodus of NYPD officers under Mamdani’s leadership: "They will not work under him. They will leave. They will resign." ([04:16])
[10:28 – 19:01]
The discussion shifts to Kamala Harris, who has called off her gubernatorial run in California and is poised to release a book about her 2024 campaign.
Martha MacCallum critiques Harris: "She's trying to scrub herself clean of Biden's lingering stink..." ([12:12])
Jesse Watters questions the efficacy of her book: "Does that help her at all in 2028?" ([16:12])
Harold Ford Jr. offers a nuanced view, acknowledging that while the book "might sell or won't sell," he remains skeptical about Harris's political future: "I hope, to your point, you say that she honestly confronts some of the things that we all saw happening in that campaign." ([14:32])
Kenney comments on the book's potential impact: "I think her moment has long passed, and I would be very surprised if we see her come back." ([18:33])
[31:02 – 36:27]
A significant portion of the episode addresses allegations of insider trading involving Nancy Pelosi.
Jesse Watters outlines Pelosi’s suspicious trading activities: "He made a $10 million bet on Microsoft two weeks before the Pentagon announced a $22 billion contract with Microsoft... she bought Netflix before Netflix went into video games." ([35:05])
Harold Ford Jr. advocates for stricter regulations: "I think when you have information that others don't have about companies that you can invest in and they cannot invest in, that's called illegal." ([34:51])
Martha MacCallum counters the trading claims by highlighting Pelosi's financial status: "She's worth $400 million... When you're in your 80s, you... would agree with me, your money is in bonds." ([35:05])
Despite the conflicting perspectives, the panel largely underscores the need for transparency and legislation to curb such practices.
[11:23 – 28:40]
The panel critiques the current state of media, focusing on the cancellation of popular shows and the lack of viewpoint diversity.
Jesse Watters discusses the cancellation of Stephen Colbert's show, attributing it to financial losses: "They are hemorrhaging money. I don't think that that's, you know..." ([23:18])
Kennedy comments on media bias, noting the absence of conservative voices: "They have 102 liberal guests on the show and zero conservatives. And they spew nonsense like this." ([23:40])
Greg Gutfeld defends Greg and his colleagues, emphasizing the importance of viewpoint diversity: "You could be like Carson or Leno. This is after all, it's supposed to be fun." ([24:43])
The conversation highlights a perceived decline in balanced journalism and the financial struggles faced by legacy media outlets.
[37:50 – 41:42]
Shifting from heavy topics, the panel engages in more casual discussions and humorous segments.
Jesse Watters and Kennedy discuss a couple's proposal video, highlighting the excessive documentation by younger generations: "Everything they do has to be caught on camera and they have to post it to Instagram and TikTok right away." ([38:16])
Greg Gutfeld introduces a sound segment featuring animal noises, leading to playful banter about animal species and sounds: "What is that? It's a baby penguin. Pedro the Penguin. Deport him." ([40:08])
These segments provide a lighter contrast to the intense political discussions, showcasing the panel's dynamic interaction.
[41:43 – End]
The episode concludes with promotional segments for sponsors such as Lifelock and mentions of upcoming shows. The final moments include humorous exchanges about deodorant products and playful interactions among the hosts.
