Sandra Smith
Hello, everyone. I'm Sandra Smith, along with Paul Morrow, Jessica Tarlov, Jesse Waters and Brian Kilmeade. It is five o' clock in New York City, and this is the five. The riots that started in la, now spreading nationwide to other US Cities, Seattle, Chicago, Denver, and right here in New York City, which saw protesters blocking traffic and this woman who was just trying to get to work.
Paul Morrow
What about my kids? I took their job.
Jessica Tarlov
Then what happens to stopping a black woman from going to work?
Paul Morrow
Oh, no, not work.
Sandra Smith
Yeah, who cares about work? Back to the epicenter. Los Angeles is bracing for a potential sixth day of anti ice riots as Mayor Karen Bass announces that the curfew will still be in effect again tonight and will go on as long as needed. Active duty US Marines have arrived, but they have not yet stepped foot on the streets there. California Governor Gavin Newsom holding a televised address and ripped President Trump's decision to send military forces to la.
Jesse Waters
This brazen abuse of power by a sitting president inflamed a combustible situation, putting our people, our officers, and even our National Guard at risk. That's when the downward spiral began. He chose theatrics over public safety. Trump is pulling a military dragnet all across Los Angeles. Democracy is under assault before our eyes. This moment we have feared has arrived. He's taking a wrecking ball, a wrecking ball to our founding father's historic project.
Sandra Smith
And this as President Trump is still toying with the idea of arresting Gavin Newsom. Are you going to arrest Gavin Newsom?
Brian Kilmeade
Well, he's not doing a good job, you know. Arrest? What does that mean, he's not doing a good job? Well, in theory, you could, I guess. You know, it's almost like a dissipation of duty. Nobody's ever seen anything like that.
Sandra Smith
All right, so, Paul, do you think an arrest should be made of the Governor of California?
Paul Morrow
You know, it's what he wants, obviously. You know, I mean, Newsom would love that. That's why he's saying, bring it on, bring it on, bring it on. You know, but the thing to me is, why is he so outraged? What is it that is so upsetting to Gavin Newsom? Because if you think about it, the National Guard and the Marines. Marines aren't even on the ground yet. National Guard, they're standing around in front of federal courthouses to make sure that they don't get burnt down like we saw in Portland in 2020. What is it that's so offensive to him? What's so offensive is the fact that Trump had to Come in and clean up his mess. I want to close the loop on something real quick. You know, there are all of this argument about how this is unconstitutional. We've never seen anything like it. It's the most outrageous thing a president's ever done. 1963, Brown versus Board of Education. When JFK wanted to desegregate the schools, George Wallace, Governor of Alabama, wouldn't let him. Stood in front of the door in the schoolhouse doorway to block black students from coming into class. So what did JFK do? Federalized and operationalized their National Guard. He sent them in. Wallace, get out of the way. And the rest is history. The point is, it's been done before, it's done when you need to do it. And this idea, you could almost articulate that this is in a way a preservation of the union, because California seems to have decided that they're a sovereign nation, that arrest warrants from a federal judge don't apply.
Gavin Newsom
How dare you.
Paul Morrow
You gotta run them all through me. I'm Gavin Newsom. I'm the governor and it's my country. You can't do it. No, no, it's not your country, pal. And so don't arrest him. It's what he wants. But keep doing what you're doing. Keep. Keep grabbing the worst of the worst.
Sandra Smith
Got it, Jessica. Gavin Newsom there in that interview, said the downward spiral started in LA when the military arrived. Is that when it happened? Or was it when protesters were hurling rocks at cops and Border Patrol?
Jessica Tarlov
That was obviously bad. And Gavin Newsom has been clear every single time that he has spoken and every single time that Mayor Bass has spoken, they have said that violence will not be tolerated and protesters who are being violent will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. They learned the lessons from 2020 and that summer, and they're being very clear about it. Gavin Newsom's point is a well taken point. And Donald Trump need only listen to Donald Trump from 2020 to know that he is overstepping his authority. He sits down with George Stephanopoulos and says, I can't use the National Guard without the governor's permission. That's what Gavin Newsom is saying. Then also in 2020, when he's talking about invoking the Insurrection act for Portland, he said, there's no reason to do that now. Those were arguably much bigger protests. There were many more problems in 2020 than there are right now. And the reason that we didn't need the National Guard and we certainly didn't need the Marines is that the LAPD itself said in a release that they didn't need any help, that they could contain it. And the reason that that's the case is this is on 0.02% of LA County. This is very small and isolated. And Donald Trump is doing what Donald Trump does best. And he's playing the same footage. He has that image, right, of that topless protester with the Mexican flag on top of a burning Waymo car. And it's terrible. And that guy should be prosecuted. You should not be able to do that. But that doesn't mean that in general, that's what's going on here. So Gavin Newsom is speaking for a majority of Americans. Right before we came on air, there was a new Quinnipiac poll that was released. So Donald Trump, negative 12 on approval in general, negative 11 on immigration and negative 16 on deportations. He has taken his best issue and decimated it by making these deportations in a hasty way. It used to be go after the criminals. That's what we heard was going to happen. Now it's go to the nail salons, go to the job sites, go to birthday parties, go to immigration courts. There is now no right way to do it. There is no way to be part of the system, pay your taxes, make a better life for your family, and hopefully get citizenship. Stephen Miller is mad because they were deporting less people on a daily basis than Joe Biden was. So he went and he said, go to 711 and you go to Home Depot. And now Americans and illegals who, yes, they're here illegally, are living in fear of what the government is trying to do. And just one more thing, the GOP caucus like Valadajo, Gonzalez representatives, they know that this is bad. Valadajo saying, please prioritize removal of known criminals. Gonzalez focus on convicted criminals, not farm laborers.
Sandra Smith
To be clear, though, I mean, you have law abiding citizens who are saying, protect us, right? As these protests emerge and the riots are happening and you know, cops are getting rocks thrown at them. Caroline Levitt at the White House press briefing today said, if we thought that the police, if the policies would change so that they're not kneecapped to be able to protect the law abiding citizens, the military wouldn't have been needed. But Jesse, I want to bring you in here. Is the President handling this in the right way, do you think looking back, he would have changed anything about what he has done so far?
Jesse Waters
The police were not fine, Jessica. They said they were outgunned and they needed a lot of Help. There's millions of dollars in damage. A lot of businesses got ransacked. Don't try to minimize it. And illegals should be a little scared. They broke into the country. A lot of them have committed crimes. I'd like them to be a little fearful, Jessica. And you know what would make it a lot easier to just target the criminals. If you guys would respect the ICE detainers, we could just go right to the prisons and then take them home. We wouldn't have to go through all these neighborhoods and do it willy nilly. Maybe we could cooperate a little bit better. But the truth is this, and you're right, Paul. Gavin Newsom's emasculated. Trump reached into his state, took his guard and used it to protect the people that Gavin either couldn't or wouldn't do. So he's calling him a strong man. I think that's a compliment for Donald Trump. I hear strong man. The guy's in a bunker like Biden with a prerecorded video. This is an attack on democracy. They're really going to go with a dictator hoax. That whole attack on democracy thing, that message lost. It lost in a landslide. Attacking democracy is not enforcing the law. All they're doing here is enforcing the law and they can't even get their story straight. All right, first there was no riot. Then there was a riot. Then it was peaceful. Then it was mostly peaceful. Then Trump provoked the violence. Now, how does Trump provoke violence if he lives in Washington? He wasn't out there doing anything. So the National Guard provoked the riots. Because I didn't see a single National Guardsman melt down a Waymo or loot a store. Not one. This is a 6040 issue. And that's according to Insider Advantage, who nailed the last election. Gavin thinks it's good politics to let your own city burn down. That's good politics. Maybe the crazy base on the left thinks it's good because they love to see the country burn. But it's not good. These illegals, Jessica, think they're living in Mexico. They're waving the Mexican flag. They don't like America. They love living in LA because LA is great. It's nicer than Mexico and you get free housing, free health care, free food. They don't even lay a finger on you. That's the problem here. They think they own the country. They don't respect the laws and they don't respect the law enforcement. I think Trump should go harder. He needs to break the back of this ICE resistance and, and make sure everybody Understands that this thing's not going to slow down. You can't be held hostage in your own country by foreigners because that's what this is. It's an extortion attempt. Every time you try to enforce the law, we're going to burn stuff. That's not how it works. They need to clean this up before the World cup and before the Olympics, because Trump wants to light the torch. He wants to be the one to hold the torch and light it. And if there's riots going on, because you know there will be, it's not going to look good while the eyes of the world are on us.
Sandra Smith
Fast forward to the night, Brian. This could be a sixth night of riots there. We know the curfew is in effect. The mayor's got that effect as long as it is needed. Do you expect this to continue?
Gavin Newsom
Yeah, I do. 27 were arrested on Saturday, 40 on Sunday, 100 on Monday, 225 yesterday. So it's only getting worse. And when you talk about if the police chief needs help, you know, politically, they say they're acting on their own, but the mayor gives them the orders. And the police chief on Sunday night, he kind of goes, yeah, I did need some backup. They were overwhelmed. And here's the other thing that I find, just almost like a, almost sacrilege in the law enforcement community. 55 minutes, between 35 and 55 minutes for help. While ICE says we're overwhelmed and the numbers are high, Trump says, I'm never going to put up with that again. I'm going to do what I can do. I'm going to put into action the National Guard. Here's why he's already been successful. All of a sudden, Eric Adams says, look, we might have problems in New York, we might be a sanctuary city, but we're not going to make sure that we're under control. If these riots in Dallas, in Denver, in San Antonio, some of the demonstrations, these states now feel compelled to keep things under control or else Trump has already shown he can take action and start moving in the right direction. So there are criminals being picked up. The problem was, there's a lot in Los Angeles and in Denver is because they allowed the illegal immigrants to take over their cities, to take over their social programs. So now, as the pressure heats up, they speak out. But most Americans who vote are going, I'm not fighting for these guys. I need to get to work. I'm not fighting. You cut me off at the 101 Freeway at 4 o'clock in the afternoon while I'M trying to get home after working nine hours a day and you want me to be, you want to win me over to your cause? Not going to happen. I think Trump loves it. Gavin Newsom made one critical mistake. He spent the longest time thinking that center left will be his future. When he cut that tape, he now says I will be the voice, the inverse of Donald Trump. If he thinks that's going to give him the nomination, that's a huge, that's a huge leap and it's going against what he thought prior. And that's when he had the podcast. He was interviewing Steve Bannon and Newt Gingrich and others to say, hey, and Charlie Kirk, I'm being reasonable here. Maybe there is another way than the Democratic way that we've done with the pronouns and everything else. So I think he made a critical error, but he's dug in now.
Sandra Smith
Speaking of Democrats, up next, the Democrat civil war erupts over the LA riots. John Fetterman is knocking some sense into aoc.
Jessica Tarlov
So what are you thinking?
Gavin Newsom

Democrats are once again blowing it on another 8020 issue by sticking up for the rights of illegals to burn down the cities they invaded. Prosecutors announcing federal charges against two agitators. One of them is an illegal immigrant for allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails at police officers during the protests in LA. CNN's data guy delivering the bad news for the Democrats on how legal migrants side with Trump and the GOP. Bigley, look at that shift. A 40 point shift to the right among immigrant voters. Republicans now lead on this issue by 8 points over Democrats, more so than any other group that I could find. The group of voters who became more hawkish on immigration were in fact immigrants themselves, immigrants who are registered to vote in this country. Right on cue, Senator John Fetterman, the lone voice of reason, telling his own party the basics. Don't burn stuff, don't loot, don't attack cops. But AOC has got her earmuffs on.
Paul Morrow
You can't defend when people start setting.
Jesse Waters
Things on fire or they start damaging.
Jessica Tarlov
Buildings or going after members of law enforcement.
Paul Morrow
That's not free speech.
Jesse Waters
That is not, that is not peaceful protests.
Jessica Tarlov
If Senator Fetterman or anybody else is concerned with law and order, we should be looking at one of the most law Breaking agencies and administrations that we've seen in the United States.
Jesse Waters
So, Brian, the Republican Party very united on the issue of mass deportations, but the Democrats fractured.
Gavin Newsom
Right now you have Senator Fetterman basically standing alone as probably the only Democrat who's in office who says, I'm pretty sure we should be against looting and violence. And I don't think the National Guard is the problem. And AOC does what she always does. It's always ISIS issue. ICE's goal was to get illegal immigrants, especially criminals, out of the country. And when they do their job, they get rid of criticized as if they're doing a bad job. And for the last time, Hakeem Jeffries, they cover their face because they're getting doxed. They're worried about their families. It's not that they're not proud about doing the job that they're doing. And you should be asking why the protesters cover their face. Davy Natius comes in. Washington Post. Good guy, but not known as a big time Trumper. These protesters are deliberately working to create visuals that will help Donald Trump people over and over again. Ro Khanna condemns the violence but says that there's no business for the National Guard. I just, to me this is an opportunity for those people like Rahm Emanuel who says he wants to run center left and logical Democrats to stand up and say we got ourselves in a bad position here because we didn't control the riots early. We have to learn from this. America wants law and order.
Jesse Waters
Rahm, I saw just recently Sandra kind of sided with Gavin. That's not good for him.
Sandra Smith
Yeah, the Democrats have been on the wrong side of this issue, obviously going back to the election. I remember election night and the first emergence of a trend that we were seeing was the Hispanic voter bloc in this country. They spoke very loudly and very clearly about what they wanted to see happen with immigration in this country. Those that are here legally now and are US Citizens don't like what they see on the streets here. This isn't what they came here for. They came over in proper channels. They did what they had to do. They went through the process. They became legal American citizens who can vote. And they see this happening on the streets and they said no to it. We saw that in the election and now we see Democrats who didn't learn a lesson and now are still not listening to law abiding citizens in this country who say they don't want to see this happening. I was digging up AOC's words on all of this. Right. Because she's Kind of throwing it back. You just heard her there, she's just throwing it back. Well, you should be looking at one of the most law breaking agencies and administration we've seen in the US Anybody who's looking at these videos doesn't think, oh, Trump did this. Right. Nobody's looking at that and thinking that. And so it's just a matter of Democrats just not, not getting it. And I think that's what we continue to see and will put them in trouble again for the midterms.
Jesse Waters
How do you think your party's handling this, Jessica?
Jessica Tarlov
80%. Great. I think, I think it's important that everyone, maybe not aoc, but Gavin Newsom, Mayor Bass, who's in charge, is leading with, you can't be violent and we're gonna prosecute you if you are. That. That was the lesson of 2020. And it's an important one. And I hope by tomorrow there'll be a clip of Harry Entin saying what he tweeted before we came on here. This is definitely one of Trump's worst polls. Just horrible across the board. Net approval minus 16 points. Oof. Opposition to the big beautiful bill. Just bad stuff all around. So this narrative that everything is going so well for Donald Trump is not backed up by the reality on the ground. I understand the footage. It looks bad. I'd be scared to be in the middle of it 100%. But it doesn't mean that the American people, including Latinos, who by the way, his approval has completely plummeted with, aren't seeing how mismanaged this immigration system is the way that Trump and co are doing it. 63% say that illegals should get a court hearing before being deported to Kilmar Abego Garcia. 57% say that he's not being careful and carrying out deportations. 52% that he's going too far. And 58% opposed deporting people with no criminal records. And Brian said, well, this is what they were sent there to do. Get the people out with criminal records. 70% of people who have been taken into custody have not been convicted of anything. That is directly flying in opposition of what they said that they were going to do.
Gavin Newsom
113.
Jessica Tarlov
How are you?
Gavin Newsom
Criminal records. 113 out of 10.
Jessica Tarlov
But thousands have been deported. People are in foreign gulags without cities in Los Angeles.
Jesse Waters
All right, well, Jessica, when you break into the country, you're going to get kicked out. I'm sorry. Yeah, you are. That's the rule.
Jessica Tarlov
The American public don't want it.
Jesse Waters
Okay, well, The American public. I don't get manicured.
Jessica Tarlov
I don't think that's fair. You don't see your nails every day.
Jesse Waters
I cut them very well. I mean, is that bad? You want me to come in here with fangs? What?
Jessica Tarlov
You do that cuticle work yourself?
Jesse Waters
Cuticle work? I have beautiful cuticles. And all I just use is one of these little scissors. I'm very dexterous.
Jessica Tarlov
How do you know what a cuticle is? Brett asked me to ask you.
Jesse Waters
A cuticle is the part of the nail that meets the skin. Okay. I'm not a moron, Jessica. Display what I sound like. If they want to change the immigration laws in this country, they can have Congress do that. Don't complain when they're just getting enforced.
Paul Morrow
Yeah, of course. I mean, look, these are the duly appointed laws that we have. They haven't changed them. ICE is there to enforce them. That's kind of it. And what people don't realize with this stuff here, what's happened to the Democrats is that, look, I've been out on this in 2020. A lot of the same characters were throwing bricks at my people. There is an ecosystem that has grown up over the last seven, eight years, let's call it right. Whereas in the past, maybe going back a little further, this sort of anarchist crew, they weren't that organized. They weren't that well funded. They weren't really that fully constituted. They've gotten their legs under them. Now they're on the Internet. They use the encrypted apps to talk to each other. They know where to get the money from the NGOs, and they sue. Everybody getting arrested here is going to sue against L. A. And Bass will settle because she doesn't want the optic of going up against these people. So that money goes back into the coffers. It funds them next time. People always say, why do they always have these signs right away? How do they get them? Because they have the money. They just bang them right out. I saw the difference myself, even between Occupy Wall street into 20, 20, tens of thousands of more people. And what people don't realize is how large. You've always had a somewhat radical left, a progressive left, an anarchist left, which is what these are. What's changed is the size and the organization and how they're funded. And it's a block that's not going away. It's going to be here probably for the rest of our lives. Something the Dems are going to have to deal with.
Jesse Waters
All right, coming up, Elon Musk wants to mend fences with Donald Trump. But is the President ready to build one big beautiful bridge?
Jessica Tarlov
All right.
Gavin Newsom
Are they ready to bury the chainsaw? Elon Musk offering a late night apology to President Trump after a nasty public feud over the Republican spending bill. I don't know if you guys heard about this. It spilled out into the public last week and through the weekend. So at 3:04am, the world's richest man. I was actually on my way to work. Posted on X quote, I regret some of my posts about President Trump last week. They went too far. President Trump is responding to his former first buddy apology, saying he told the New York Post this I thought was very nice that he did that. And check out what the President told Miranda Devine about the broken bromance.
Paul Morrow
Watch this.
Brian Kilmeade
Look, I have no hard feelings. I was really surprised that that happened. He went after a bill. That's. That's phenomenal. I think he feels very badly that he said that. Actually, things like that happen. I don't blame him for anything. I was a little disappointed.
Gavin Newsom
A little disappointed. He wants to take back some of the tweets. Sandra, what do you think about this? We got to this point now where everyone settled down. It looks like Susan Wiles and J.D. vance put a call into Elon Musk who called the President.
Sandra Smith
Apparently that was very effective.
Gavin Newsom
Yes.
Sandra Smith
You know, I think there's probably people who are watching this play out who said they saw it coming, that there eventually would be a feud and perhaps those same people are saying they're making up and we saw that coming too. I don't know. We'll see where they go with this. But these are obviously could be seen as softened words in a stance towards President Trump from Elon Musk that perhaps he did go too far. I think his, you know, popularity may have taken a hit with the Republican Party as a result of trying to beat up on President Trump. There was a real world market reaction. You know that right? As this was all sort of, as Elon Musk was starting to walk back some of this, saying he might have gone too far. The market rallied. Tesla shares rallied. There were some people happy to see this, see this. So where tomorrow brings us, I don't know.
Gavin Newsom
So what tweets do you think he.
Paul Morrow
Wants to walk back?
Gavin Newsom
The Epstein thing. Do you think that saying that I'm going to sideline decommission the Dragon spacecraft? I mean, do you think he wants to work?
Jesse Waters
Yeah, I mean, all of them or some of them, you gotta be clear. Do I think they're gonna Be sitting next to each other while Trump blows out his birthday candles after the military parade. No, but, but there could be a cooling and they could appear together and then that'll be a big deal. That'll wipe everything the Democrats are doing out of the news cycle. But I don't think Trump trusts him fully. He thinks he might be on drugs. And it's hard to come back from something like this. But it is interesting, as you mentioned, who brokered it. So you got Susie Wiles because she wants to keep the house. And Elon promised, I think, $100 million to keep the house. And then J.D. vance, who needs Musk's money if he wants to run for president in 28. So that was key. But remember what the Democrats said before the fight? They said Elon was co president. Wrong. They said Trump was going to pay him back in the big beautiful bill. Wrong. And then after the falling out, they said Trump was going to deport him or murder him. Wrong. Or they said Trump, Elon was going to donate to Democrats. I don't think so.
Gavin Newsom
Or start his own party.
Jesse Waters
Right.
Gavin Newsom
Jessica Ro Khanna came out and said, we would like you back, Elon. Are you surprised Elon didn't go back to the Democrats?
Jessica Tarlov
It's a long courtship. We're in it, you know, we have four years.
Gavin Newsom
You want him back?
Jessica Tarlov
No, I want his money.
Jesse Waters
Yeah, you want Nazi money.
Jessica Tarlov
It's not.
Jesse Waters
You called him a Nazi for a year.
Jessica Tarlov
I wasn't a sympathizer. No, I did not.
Jesse Waters
No.
Jessica Tarlov
But your people did play the tape. Some of my people did. And you know, I very specific.
Jesse Waters
There's fine people in both sides.
Jessica Tarlov
Nazis are a special category which he doesn't fall into. I think he would like to keep the tweets about the big beautiful bill and cancel out Epstein island and all the stuff that was personal. It was super ugly for that to be happening in such a public forum. And I think that Trump's response from the beginning, being so muted, spoke to two things. One, how he was genuinely shocked and hurt by it. Like there was no expectation that was gonna happen. They had just had that nice sending off ceremony. And then apparently that meeting. The New York Times was reporting that this really came to a head because Musk wanted his pick to head up NASA and Trump was told that the guy gave some money to Democrats and so it was impossible that he could be good at that job, which I think is totally crazy. But the other element of this is that I think that both of them realize that the other can really hurt one another. So Elon Musk can use money against him. He can start not giving them his rockets and all that. And he has a lot of secrets that he's storing in his hair about them to make a mean girls reference. And Donald Trump can cancel his government contracts. He's already going to be hurt by the big, beautiful bill, dramatically, because of the cuts to EV credits.
Gavin Newsom
So, Paul, the one thing is, I think what bothered President Trump, I don't think his feelings get hurt at this point, but I think what bothered him most is the attack on the bill. And he wants him to cease and desist on that. Remember, he blew up the debt ceiling deal they had. And Speaker Johnson tried to talk him off the cliff to say politics is different than running SpaceX. And he didn't seem to. As smart as he is, he doesn't seem to get it when it comes to legislation.
Paul Morrow
No, he doesn't. And you know, there's an old Irish saying, fast friends make fast enemies, Right? And you could see this coming as you're saying, Sandrino. And if you had the wit, if you had the wit to play the market on this, you could have made a fortune. But that said, yeah, very clearly the difference here is, let's say Donald Trump 2020. To Donald Trump. Now, what's the distinction? What's the difference? Well, he's been blooded, right? He went through in 2020 all the kind of stuff that we see with the riots and everything else. What he learned the first time around is that the power of the presidency isn't plenary, it isn't complete. You're not an emperor. Despite what the left says, he thinks he's an Emperor. They're both CEOs, they're both used to saying, when I say jump, you say, how high? Right. And planet Earth isn't big enough for those two egos. So you knew it was gonna happen. But bottom line is Musk, I don't think, has internalized what Donald Trump has, which is Trump is the guy who has to go out and actually do it. It's a little bit like the coach telling the players what to do, right? Like Mike Tyson said, everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the face, right? So Trump, here's the plan. Musk wants the perfect bill. He wants it to do everything he wanted. But Donald Trump has to be more practical. He's got the big seat. He's the one who has to make it work. So I think of the two big CEOs here, Trump is the one who's being a lot more practical. And I think that's come around to musk after he came off of whatever that bender was.
Gavin Newsom
I don't think the President has much patience for drinking, smoking and drugs, which.
Paul Morrow
Is a good thing because we were gonna get a moment here. I love you, man. So thank God for that.
Gavin Newsom
Absolutely. All right, so let me tell you what's coming up next, being that we wanna stick with the format. Am I correct?
Jesse Waters
Yes.
Gavin Newsom
All right, 36 minutes after the top of the hour. Simone Biles apologizes after her feud with Riley Gaines, here with the star swimmer. Had to say in response, stop the radio. What is dedication?
Unknown
The thing that drives me every day as a dad is Dariana. We call him Day Date for short. Every day he's hungry for something, whether it's attention, affection, knowledge. And there's this huge responsibility in making sure that when he's no longer under my wing that he's a good person. I want him to be able to sit back one day and go, we worked together. We did a good job.
Gavin Newsom
That's dedication. Find out more@fatherhood.gov brought to you by the U.S. department of Health and Human Services and the Ad Council.
Paul Morrow
Simone Biles has apologized to Riley Gaines after a nasty feud. Biles called Gaines, quote, truly sick and, quote, sore loser. Why? Because Riley Gaines called out a biological male who played on a female high school baseball team. Simone apologizing directly to Riley for things getting, quote, unquote personal and adding, quote, I was not advocating for policies that compromise fairness in women's sports. I believe sports organizations have a responsibility to come up with rules supporting inclusion while maintaining fair competition. Now Bradley Gaines is accepting the apology and even offering Simone Biles the opportunity to join the fight for women's sports. Watch this.
Riley Gaines
I know I'm on the right side of history. I accept her apology. I see this, truthfully as a really big win. You have this really famous public figure who is now issuing a groveling public apology and backtracks after again tweeting pro trans propaganda, if you will. I would love to have her stand alongside me. Would love for Simone Biles to be a part in this fight.
Paul Morrow
All right, let's get the women on this. So one of the things that Simone Biles says she's committed to is competitive equity. Is that not a contradiction?
Sandra Smith
I don't even know what all of that is. I'm happy to see she's coming back on this a bit. And if you were sitting here as we were listening to that, I was saying, go, Riley. You have to remember what led to Riley Gaines activism as a swimmer, a competitive swimmer who was among the first to start to deal with the trans athlete biological males in her sport. It was changing in a women's locker room with Lia Thomas, one of the first transgenders to compete in this sport. Biological with male genitalia intact. That was what led her down this road. Now we've discovered along the way, obviously the competitive advantage that biological males have in so many of these sports, if not all of them. There's obviously the danger aspect. You take the volleyball player who took one to the head and had a brain injury as a result. There are so many ways and reasons that women are backing Riley Gaines. I mean, she is an incredible voice on this. I've spoken with far too many female athletes all over this country on our show America Reports. We bring them on all the time that are having to deal with this in so many ways on their own because they don't even have coaches or teachers or administrators standing up and speaking out for them. They're doing this, in some cases a 17, 18 year old girl saying, this is not right.
Paul Morrow
Yeah, I mean, where are the women's groups? Right, Jessica?
Jessica Tarlov
Well, I want all of them. So listen, I think this was an ugly episode. I think getting personal about Riley Gaines appearance obviously took it in a direction that didn't have to be. And you can have a thoughtful discussion about it. And it seems like once Simone Biles, the greatest gymnast of all time, it should be noted, kind of took a step back and evaluated both sides of this issue. She came down where the majority of Americans are. So it's an 8020 issue.
Sandra Smith
The quality of athlete and the performance of an athlete should not matter.
Jessica Tarlov
Well, I think it does matter because I did see a lot of people piling on her saying, well, we are only saying this because you never had to compete against a man. She would beat any man in a floor routine or on the vault, not the uneven bars.
Sandra Smith
How about the rig?
Jessica Tarlov
If you want to just dunk on Simone Biles, I understand it, but this is something that people are thinking about. Again, it's an 8020 issue. We do need a policy. I think California is moving in the right direction that they're saying now that someone who's transgender can't meddle ahead of someone who is a biological female. The problem is we don't have enough transgender people to have a standalone category.
Paul Morrow
And then they do all this craziness where they put them all together and there's two people on the winners podium and it's just, you know, it takes away all of the competitive aspect of it. Jesse, first of all, is it ever a good idea to get in the middle of two women having something like this?
Jesse Waters
No. No. That's why I just want to lay back and hope she trains for la. If we start messing with her head, she's mentally weak. Remember the one time she. We have to make sure she meddles. Okay? So I'm gonna lay off her. But I will say this. She pulled an elon. Oh, I'm sorry for some of the things I said. Come on. You remember the days when PR teams would have to like, walk back something that you said that was based. Now they walk back when you say stuff woke. I love it. We are so back right now. This shows the power of Fox 2. This woman, Riley Gates did the full kill meet, I think maybe six shows in 48 hours. And just put so much pressure on Simone.
Paul Morrow
Brian, let me ask you this. Why do you think she's doing it now? Because I don't know that she's going to be at the next Olympics. She's a little shaky and she's going to be 31.
Gavin Newsom
It's like three years, which is ancient for a gymnast.
Paul Morrow
For a gymnast that's old. So is she trying to create a new Persona?
Gavin Newsom
A couple of things. I've never talked more about a woman's height and weight in my life without getting reprimanded. She's five'5, 135 pounds. How dare you call her Amazon or whatever they're saying. But what I'm saying is it does show you how much progress we've made as a country. We're a self correcting country. Five years ago, Riley Gaines couldn't get out of her room after making a speech because of protesters. Now all of a sudden, when Simone Biles, who is an American sweetheart, makes a ridiculous statement, she's getting a lot of the derision. The worst is yet to come.
Paul Morrow
The Olympics are coming.
Gavin Newsom
They have not made decisions on any of this. Remember the boxers, the women that pretended to be men or vice versa, the transgenders who pretended to have genitalia? They didn't have. More on that later with Jesse in the break. I'm not sure who has what, but I would say this. We got to straighten this out because the Los Angeles Olympics are going to be this to the 10th power.
Paul Morrow
All right ahead, Israel sends Greta Thunberg back home to mommy. Did they just hop from?
Jesse Waters
I was not able to say goodbye to people.
Jessica Tarlov
Was there any violence where the UK Detained? How?
Gavin Newsom
Where?
Paul Morrow
No, I prefer not to go into details about that. There was, we were, we arrived there.
Gavin Newsom
We were detained and then we were.
Paul Morrow
Yeah.
Jessica Tarlov
Greta Thunberg was deported back to Sweden after attempting to sail to Gaza. This was after Israel seized her so called selfie yacht and gave her a sandwich. Jesse, I want to start with you. I should note they were supposed to be delivering aid. Israel's making sure that the aid actually gets there, but through the normal humanitarian channels. Does it surprise you that Greta decided to go home instead of hanging out in detention with the others?
Jesse Waters
The thing about Greta is whenever she shows up anywhere, anywhere becomes silly. Like if you were on the fence about the Jews, Jessica. And then Greta shows up, you're like, I'm with the Jews now. I'm thinking about sending her on a plane to the LA riots. Because anybody on the fence about that, all of a sudden you're like, no, no, I'm for Trump. The one thing that really upsets me is Greta Van Susteren. She had this great name. She was the only famous Greta. And then Thunberg comes around and it's just like, oh, now it's like, oh. I was talking to Greta Van Susterman the other day and she told me that she hoped that Thunberg's boat sank.
Gavin Newsom
That is not true. Not true. You can't say that.
Jesse Waters
I just made that up.
Jessica Tarlov
Kilmeade. One of the things is she refused to watch the October 7th footage.
Paul Morrow
I know.
Jessica Tarlov
Which. How can you show what's happening in Gaza and not look at the terrorist attack that prompted this?
Gavin Newsom
How could you not? How could you use the term hostage? At the same time, there were 55 hostages being held against their will, 22 expected to be still alive. They're delivering 11 million meals. She was coming up with basically a lunchbox to give to people of Gaza. She's an embarrassment. And I think that at one point we have to stop covering her for her own good. As Trump said, she's got anger management issues. This is embarrassing.
Jessica Tarlov
Paul, is this the last Greta segment of it?
Jesse Waters
I hope so.
Paul Morrow
I mean, you know, she's like a deranged Chucky doll or something. I don't know where they think that she's actually competitive. Like, what did they think she was gonna go there? She was gonna solve all of this? Exactly. Where are her parents? It's all, you know. What for me to take away is that the outrage is fungible. Like, what happened? Did climate change get solved over the weekend? I must have missed that. Right now, all of a sudden it's Gaza and you can track it even to LA to link to completely disparate stories because it's all the same professional protesters. It's Gaza, it's Teslas, it's blm, it's ice. It doesn't matter as long as it's anti western and it's funded.
Sandra Smith
Sandra, there's a tiny amount of aid on the boat that you were so concerned would get into the right hands there. I just want to leave off with this. I think I at all. She wouldn't watch the video footage. And secondly, did you hear what happened when they called the Swedish government? They snubbed her. The foreign minister took the phone call and said they were aware of the risks of the journey.
Gavin Newsom
And by the way, Jesse Hanselen, Gretel.
Jesse Waters
Gretel.
Gavin Newsom
That's the famous Gretel.
Jessica Tarlov
Greta versus Gretel. One more time.
Paul Morrow
Waiting for celebrating our nation's great.
Sandra Smith
All right. It is time for one more thing. Jesse. Jessica, are you going?
Jessica Tarlov
Yeah.
Sandra Smith
Okay. I didn't know.
Jessica Tarlov
You okay? Yeah, No, I am going now.
Gavin Newsom
You go, girl.
Jessica Tarlov
88 year old grandmother Joan Alexander just became the University of Maine's oldest bachelor's degree recipient in the school's 160 years. You go, girl.
Sandra Smith
Love it, Jesse.
Jesse Waters

Impact on Immigrant Communities:
