Hello, everyone.
Dana Perino
I'm dana perino along with brian kilme, jessica tarlock, jesse waters and greg gutfeld. It's five o' clock in new york city and this is the five.
C.B. Cotton
And a FOX News alert.
Dana Perino
Two huge developments in the Dudley Brown University shooting. We're going to get you caught up to speed. Providence police have the name of the person of interest they've been looking for and there's a warrant out for the arrest. Police are also investigating a possible link between the shooting at Brown and the shooting death of an MIT professor at his home in Brookline, Massachusetts. That's only one hour away from Brown. There was supposed to be a news conference at 4pm it has been delayed, so we wait for that. Let's bring in C.B.
Greg Gutfeld
Cotton.
Dana Perino
She has the latest from Providence. Hi, C.B.
C.B. Cotton
Hey, Dana. Well, investigators appear to be closing in, possibly on multiple cases, as you said. FOX sources have revealed that Providence police have identified the suspected shooter from the Brown University campus shooting. And they're also now looking into a link between this tragedy and the murder of an MIT professor in Brookline, Massachusetts. So let's put all of this together because for the past several days, investigators have been asking for the public's help to to identify this man captured on home surveillance. He's been described as five, eight with a stocky build. Providence, Rhode island, police say he cased the neighborhood for hours before the shooting. This breaking development comes after yesterday Providence police asked the public to help identify a second person captured also on surveillance video, nearly passing the person of interest on the sidewalk. The police said if people would come forward and help identify the two people, they'd get the break they needed. Saturday's shooting happened shortly after 4pm local time. Two students were killed and nine others wounded. Now we're told police are looking into that possible link between the tragedy and another that murder of the MIT professor Nuno Loro, who was gunned down Monday night while he was standing in the hallway of his condo in an upscale Boston neighborhood. Investigators say he was found by a neighbor who heard gunshots and his wife reportedly ran out into the hallway and called 911. The New York Times now reporting that officers in the Boston area received an alert today directing them to be on the lookout for a vehicle wanted in connection with that shooting. Dana, back here in Rhode island there are typically, as you mentioned, press conferences every day, 4pm local time. We're told the news conference set for today has now been pushed back. So we're hoping to get some type of update this evening that will possibly connect all these dots and these fast moving cases Back over to you.
Dana Perino
All right, CB Cotton, thank you so much. We're going to bring in Paul Morrow in a moment. But Jesse, let me go to you because now that they have a name, maybe that's why the press conference is pushed back, because if they have a lead, maybe they have more information to give us.
Jesse Waters
Yeah, we're hearing it's a pretty active situation and not only do they know the guy, they might be closing in, so. So good luck. It's just sad the fact that if they had had cameras there and had done their job, if this is connected to mit, the professor at MIT would be alive. So that's sad. We now know if there is a connection, there is some sort of Brown MIT nexus. Now the professor who was murdered was from Portugal. He was working on nuclear fusion, which is like the most cutting edge technology in the energy space right now in the world. We don't know if he was a student of this guy. We don't know exactly what that means. He may have been a former Brown student. And so right now I think you're just trying to trace this car. The New York Times is reporting that there was a car that was alerted to the Boston area, directing officers to look at that. They may have tracked it from Providence to the Boston area.
Paul Morrow
Right.
Jesse Waters
It's like a straight shot, hour and a half north on 95. And if he is in the Boston area, look out guys, armed and dangerous.
Dana Perino
Brian, what do you know? Anything more or any Questions. You have at this point, a ton.
Brian Kilme
Of questions, but just the link between the two. It's about an hour away. You thought, could there be a link? And everyone said, no. Boston police said, no, there's no link. And on Saturday, they said, don't worry. It's a horrible situation in that classroom, but it's done. We got the person. So you don't worry about it. Obviously, there's a lot to worry about. Obviously there is. If these two are connected, as New York Times and others are pointing us to. And CB is pointing us to. It was a dangerous situation, and maybe people were not given the right information. So connecting the two in a rent a car, I'm wondering, you know, is that something that these guys didn't think or this guy didn't think through, you know, that maybe they'll be able to match up both cars at both times? So hopefully they're closing in on them. Hopefully we're going to get some answers very soon.
Greg Gutfeld
But is it. Are they saying it's the same car or. They're saying it's the same make and model, which is.
Dana Perino
Model.
Greg Gutfeld
Which is basically like every rental car.
Jessica Tarlock
Rental car, yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
Rental cars all look like there's always, like, similar makes and models. I don't know.
Jessica Tarlock
Well, maybe it's not a link, but it's good to know that there is something at least to talk about, because.
Greg Gutfeld
We felt like everything's a Sebring.
Jessica Tarlock
I don't. I don't think it's a Sebring anymore. Yeah, I'm looking forward to the press conference. I hope that they'll have something to say. But I just want to say, as the details are coming out about the MIT professor and that he was, you know, in his condo building, that he lived on the first floor and that he had three little kids who are at home. It just crushing to learn the details of this. And, you know, I felt like for the first couple of days, we weren't even talking about this element, not necessarily of this case, but even as a separate tragedy. And it really deserves our time. And I don't know what this will result in, but, you know, the Internet is doing its thing and there are wild webs of conspiracy theories being laid, but this is a very interesting person for someone to have come and sought out and murdered like that.
Brian Kilme
But, Jessica, there's nothing that really, that I saw that he's active on the Palestinian situation.
Jessica Tarlock
I understand.
Brian Kilme
No, no, I know now, but I'm just saying that the first thing you thought, is he a Jewish professor? Because there was some Israeli newspapers were saying, hey, is the Iranians targeting Jewish professors, nuclear professors, that they were targeted.
Jessica Tarlock
In Iran, whose class it is, is Jewish and teaches economics and Judaic studies. Yet. That's why I'm saying there is a lot going on in your phone that has not been verified by any law enforcement officials and to be careful about that.
Dana Perino
Okay, so let's get more information from retired NYPD Inspector Fox News contributor Paul Morrow. He's in Providence and has been for us. So we might have gotten a few things wrong. CP Cotton set us up with the news. What's your analysis?
Paul Morrow
So it does look like the car here is key. And if there is a link between the two crimes, it looks like it does come down to the car. How did they ascertain that it's going to be an lpr? A license plate reader was something that we talked about earlier in the week, that if they were able to get some information from a license plate reader, it may be how they could get who it was that was in this area of Rhode island that maybe was not normally here. It's the kind of thing that you look at to develop a clue. What doesn't fit. The other way, though this could work is that if they in fact developed a car here in Rhode island, which I think they did, you then put an alert on that car. And this is stuff that's out there. It's not deep, dark tradecraft. You put the alert on the car because now you can't find this person because you have a name, you have a car of interest, you put an alert on it, and at some point that car is going to trip an alarm elsewhere. If I had a guess, and the information is coming fast. And I only want to talk about stuff that's verified, so I want to be clear. I'm speculating a bit. But if I had a guess, they had an alert on the car, the car tripwired someplace near the second crime. Mit. It took them a while to put that together. That's the commonality. And right now the reporting is that they are really in pursuit of that name and making progress.
Dana Perino
We'll take it around the table. Jesse.
Jesse Waters
So, Paul, the hit, if it was a hit, was incredibly sloppy, which makes me think it wasn't a hit. I mean, you're going in, you're just spraying rounds inside of an auditorium, and then you're just driving north and assassinating a professor in a rental car. Do you think that probably that this person knew the professor had a connection to Brown University. This seems really personal.
Paul Morrow
Yeah. The only thing I would say is the following. They're not entirely clear that his authorities here are not clear on how the shooter. And I want to be clear. We don't, it could be a female. We don't know at this point. I haven't heard a couple of names, but again, I want to verify. They don't know how the shooter went into the building. They know how he fled, but they don't know how the shooter entered. So the shooting occurred in a classroom that's quite near the door, actually, that's behind me, behind the police line here. So, you know, you could go to the theory that this is the first brown building that you encounter as you come out of the residential neighborhood that we know he was hanging around in. He was scoping it out, he was looking for cameras. So he comes in here, he goes to the first populated classroom because unfortunately it was target rich. There's a lot of people going in and out. He sees that it's populated. There were other things going on in the building. What would be dispositive for me, or at least certainly lean in certain direction, is if he walked by that classroom and went to another specific classroom, if indeed he went to the first one. It says to me exactly what you're saying. He's sending some kind of a message at either Brown writ large or America. And he just did what he did in the first classroom that presented itself.
Dana Perino
Paul Morrow, thank you. We are awaiting that press conference. We'll bring it to you when it happens. Up next, President Trump's rapid fire speech on the economy.

Brian Kilme
Alright, here we go. America's salesman, also known known as the President, addressing the nation last night. President Trump giving a rapid fire 18 minute crisp speech highlighting some bright spots in his economy like rising wages, falling energy prices. Trump emphasizing that he's still fixing the mess from the previous administration.
Donald Trump
For example, 11 months ago I inherited a mess and I'm fixing it. When I took office, inflation was the worst in 48 years. Over the past 11 months, we have brought more positive change to Washington than any administration in American history. Do you remember when Joe Biden said that he needed Congress to pass legislation to help close the border? He was always blaming Congress and everyone else. As it turned out, we didn't need legislation, we just needed a new president.
Greg Gutfeld
Yep.
Brian Kilme
And after pumping up the idea that the President was losing energy, the media changed its stance. Their biggest complaint last night, his delivery was too fast and he interrupted Greg's favorite show, Survivor.
Greg Gutfeld
You know who interrupted prime time programming for a mile a minute speech.
Jessica Tarlock
I can say with a lot of confidence that people did not want the finale of Survivor interrupted.
Ainsley Earhardt
He sound like a used car salesman. He is selling nothing but lemons.
Dana Perino
It was an angry old man shouting.
Greg Gutfeld
From the hills, shouting at the kids.
Dana Perino
To get off their lawn.
Greg Gutfeld
One exaggeration after another exaggeration after another exaggeration. Tried to convince Americans the sky is green, that trees can walk.
Brian Kilme
I am not scared of that guy.
Greg Gutfeld
This is the first time I've seen a Donald Trump I'm not afraid of.
Brian Kilme
He was shouting.
Paul Morrow
At times he seemed a little angry.
Greg Gutfeld
Like why do I have to give this speech?
Brian Kilme
What I can't believe that was the interpretation. But I don't want to lead the four witnesses that are about to take on this very topic. It was too quick, he was talking too loud. He had too much energy. He didn't want to give the speech. Dana, is that how you would describe it?
Dana Perino
Well, as somebody who usually goes to bed before the speech was given and I stayed up, it was high energy and it was loud and he wants to be on offense on this issue. He has a lot of successes to talk about the border. The point he made about Biden for the last 18 months saying there was nothing that they could do about the border because Congress hadn't acted was not true and he proved it within one week. And Americans have short political memories, so reminding them about that is important. If you think back to when we would do the polls right before the election, what's the most important issue? The border being out of control. You take that one off the table, then people are like, you know what? The prices that were too high under Biden, they're still too high. I think the best thing that the president has going for him is time. So it's December. We're going into the holidays, he gives a speech, and people can argue about the speech when they go home for Christmas if they want to, or they can just have a good time with their families, but he has time for some of these things to set in. So the energy production, the tax changes for businesses that go into effect in January, I don't actually think that the no tax on tips is going to have that big of an effect on the economy. But for those people saying, I feel like things are too high, all of those little pieces might add up. But over time, if you can keep this trajectory going, it takes inflation a long time to come down. He also had an interesting part in his speech where he talked about the wage increases for different types of workers. If you were a minor, if you were an oil worker. But those things were effective. But I think staying on offense where they can is going to be important. Getting on the field and just saying, okay, like, this is the play for today. People don't like this speech, I think. I didn't think it was the best speech he's ever given. And I think he loves to be off a teleprompter where he can just riff and he comes up with the best way to be conversational about things. The thing he has in his favor right now is time going into the midterms.
Brian Kilme
And the other thing is, he does better in front of an audience. And when you put him in the Oval Office or something like that, he wants to compensate for the energy that maybe the audience wasn't feeding him. But the big complaint, Jesse, we heard that the President was getting tired. Remember, they were saying on the other channels that there was, you know, he's not the same guy with the same zip, you know, the same fastball. I didn't think. I was really surprised by the critiques that came out last night.
Jesse Waters
Yeah, like, Van Jones isn't scared of him anymore.
Brian Kilme
I didn't know he was scared of him.
Jesse Waters
Terrified his whole life of Donald Trump. Men should never admit they're scared of other men. I hated the speech. I thought he was gonna come out and look America right in the eye and say, we're gonna invade Greenland and He didn't do that. And that left me wanting.
Brian Kilme
Right, okay.
Jesse Waters
Dana said it wasn't his best speech, and I would agree in terms of the way he delivered it, but it might have been his most effective speech because you had the entire country watching, and it was 20 minutes. So it's a direct injection of all of his accomplishments that the media doesn't cover, and I think it's important to get that out there. He closed the border. Transgenderism is gone. Drugs brought in by Ocean are down 94%. He ended the Iranian nuclear program. He ended the war in Gaza. $3,000 you lost under Biden. You're gaining $1,000 under Donald Trump. 100% of the jobs that have been created in the first year have gone to Americans, and they've gone to the private sector. That's incredible. The big beautiful bill's kicking in next year. So you're going to get tax cuts. You're going to get the no tax on tips, Social Security and all that stuff. But he says this is going to be the largest tax refund season of all time. And you add the military checks to the tax refunds, to all of the tax incentives that are in there for small business and individuals. Next year is setting up for one of the greatest booms of all time. He also slashed drug and pharmaceutical prices. Gasoline is down to under gas. We're going to set up 1600 electrical plants, lower interest rates. And the fact that you're not having all these illegal aliens pour in. Housing costs are coming down. Rent's coming down. I thought it was a great speech. And none of these things the Democrats can argue with, because these are all great things for everybody in the country.
Brian Kilme
But even on border, he's around 50%. I mean, who says, well, he's not doing a good enough job on the border, Jessica. He shut it down. No one's coming through. I thought that was the goal. So the one thing he did get good news today, core inflation was supposed to be 3.1. It was 2.7, and the market went through the roof. Your thoughts?
Jessica Tarlock
So the border and immigration policy are surveyed separately. So, yes, on the border, he has high marks.
Brian Kilme
Like 51 is still low compared to what he should get.
Jessica Tarlock
Okay, I'm sorry. You know, the country split. It's polarized. But on immigration, he is at minus six in terms of the inflation number. It definitely was beating expectations. But if you actually looked at the data, it's missing numbers on the key areas that are costing you more. So no data from October, November on food shelter and health care. But the gas number was in there because the gas prices are falling. So just take it with a grain of salt. I hope that inflation goes down. We will all be happier. We'll be able to buy more. It'll be a wonderful America if that's true. But they're out there parading around a number that isn't based on any data. Literally the columns are empty there. I expected something really novel last night that he was going to have a big rollout like the Trump accounts. And we didn't get that at all. It was the series of the greatest hits. Acting like Joe Biden gave him 9% inflation. Inflation. But Joe Biden gave him 2.9% inflation. So everything is hanging around where it was. He. I mean, it's objectively true, Jesse. He said the prices are going down. That's he said high.
Jesse Waters
All the prices went up. Just.
Jessica Tarlock
He said unemployment is down. It's up to 4.6% where it hasn't been since 2021. He said that he secured $18 trillion in investment. I asked Grok about that and Groff said the White House own tallies list totals at around 8.8 to 9.6 trillion. But they include commitments from the Biden administration, double counting and pledges that were likely to occur reg list due to AI development. Then the crazy stuff like on bringing down drug prices by 600%. I don't know if you saw John Roberts asking Howard Lutnick about that today. You can't bring down prices by 600%. Drug companies aren't paying you to take the medication. And then this warrior dividend. Now that was the thing where I said, oh, this is going to be it. This is going to be like the Trump checks or something. This is amazing. But it's not. He's taking already allocated funds that were supposed to go towards housing subsidies for our troops and branding them with his 1776 Trump sticker. So you get a bonus but you lose a benefit. It's not coming from the tariff pot. It's already been allocated. That is dishonest and that is very uncool. If there is another explanation, I would love to hear it. But if that is your big marketing item from all of this and you are just taking money from troops that are moving to a more expensive place and need extra money to live in San Diego so you can say that you gave them a rebate that's not even from that tariff potential. Not uncool.
Brian Kilme
I understand it is coming from the tariff pot. Greg Gutfeld do you want to close?
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. I mean, I hope you're wrong everywhere. And if you are wrong, I hope you admit it. You know what this was? This was a bait and switch. The media, much like Jesse, they expected something big, monstrous, exciting and new. Instead, what did he do? Just showed up. He said, hey, what you up to? Got some time? I want to tell you what I've been up to. This is what I did last year. This is what I'm gonna do next year. So we got all the people that might not have tuned in to tune in. And there was so much they had to talk about. He had to talk fast. He couldn't waste any time. Terms about the polling over immigration. Who would you rather have as a president? A guy who's on his last term worried about his polling, or somebody who Sundays, I got three years to create long term lasting benefits and I don't care if my numbers drop, I gotta get all the illegals out. The process will get ugly at times we might make mistakes, but I'm going to take that risk because long term, we got to save this country. Trump sees popularity as currency, meaning it should be spent. You don't hoard it like it's gold. What's the point of exiting the presidency with all this approval and polling when you didn't do squat? That's what the Democrats do. All they do care about is, is the polling. He's like, I think. What's your name again? Brian. I think you're right. He's never been a fan of the Oval Office address. It's too one way. He's a performer. He likes responses. He likes people laughing. Imagine a comedian doing his performance to no one. Just ask Kimmel. That's what you can tell it on his face. It's like, I just want to get through this. I don't have time for this. But as predicted, and I think I said this yesterday, Dan, and you could back me up. Can you go back and do some research on what I said yesterday? Thank you. It was a battle between the measurable and the amorphous. The media did not attack the measurable elements. The number of illegals, the trans issue taxes. They focus on sound and appearance, the things that they can't quantify, and that's to be expected. He rolled out dozens of practical things that have happened and that will happen. And they go, wow, he seems so sad. I'm not scared of him anymore. God forbid you actually heard what you said. I'm interested, though, in Jessica and what you just said, because that Was news to me.
Jessica Tarlock
Okay, so Defense One, I think, was the first to report it. This reporter, Thomas Novoli Novelli. I don't know. President Donald Trump's 1776 checks for more than a million troops announced Wednesday comes from congressionally allocated reconciliation funds intended to subsidize housing allowances for service members, a senior administration official confirmed.
Greg Gutfeld
So it's not from tariffs.
Brian Kilme
Well, that kind of sucks.
Jesse Waters
So we're not taking the money.
Jessica Tarlock
You're taking the money from their housing and you're giving.
Jesse Waters
So we're stealing the money from troops and then giving it back to troops.
Dana Perino
If you're going to.
Jessica Tarlock
It's not a bonus. It's money they were already getting. But it's a.
Jesse Waters
Maybe we'll believe you.
Dana Perino
But the Defense Department has the ability to reallocate monies that have already been approved by Congress. This new tariff money, wherever it exists. A phantom money that comes, that would have to come through Congress. And then next year, when they do the budget and everything. But the Defense Department can say, okay, well, when the, when they do the budget, we'll take the tariff money and put that back in the account. That's what they can do.
Greg Gutfeld
I see. So they're giving this out now as a Christmas bonus and they're going to replenish it with the other stuff. Jessica, how dare you.
Dana Perino
I agree it wasn't great.
Brian Kilme
But here's the thing to look at that speech and go, he was nervous. I'm not afraid of him. He is out of touch. It was too loud. Like, what are you talking about?
Greg Gutfeld
I get it though. They don't have anything else.
Jessica Tarlock
He was a pannikin.
Brian Kilme
Donald Trump at 79 is finally at.
Jessica Tarlock
A bedroom after he's like, how'd it look? And Susie Wiles, the reporting was wanted him to do this, right.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah, whatever.
Jessica Tarlock
I accept all of your apologies.
Brian Kilme

Comes in January 1st. Let the trash talk begin. AOC highlighting a poll showing her beating VP Vance in a potential 28 presidential matchup and saying she'd stomp. JD.
Jessica Tarlock
Listen, these polls like three years.
Dana Perino
Out are, you know, they are what they are.
Jessica Tarlock
But let the record show, I would stop him. I would stop him.
Jesse Waters
President AOC could mean progressive policy on steroids. Case in point, just yesterday, over 200 House Democrats voted against criminalizing transgender surgery for kids. All right, Dana. I mean, these polls, obviously, but she sounds a little cocky.
Dana Perino
I think she's funny, and I think she's got charisma, and I think it's great that that's the way she answered it. She's just basically, she's. She's having fun, but also keeping the mystery alive. And look, if that is the matchup, we're going to have a heck of an election season, and I will look forward to all of it. I do think that the Democrats are a little bit high on their own supply at the moment. Okay. They're going to shelve their 2024 autopsy report. They're like, you know what? We actually don't need to worry about that. We don't need to worry about why we lost. In fact, we've got him on the ropes. We're not scared of him anymore. We know the economy is going to be in the tank, and the President. I just don't think that's true. As I said in the previous block, I think the best thing the President has right now for the midterms is the fact that the economy is poised to really do very well next year. So that's what I would say. I think that she's funny, and I look forward to seeing this matchup.
Jesse Waters
Yeah, that was a playful answer, Jessica. We're not going to beat her over the head with it, but, you know, it's game on.
Jessica Tarlock
Yeah, I thought it was fun. I mean, her politics have always been to the left of mine. But is that possible?
Dana Perino
That is saying something like a very conservative Democrat?
Jesse Waters
I wouldn't go that far. I think Harold Ford is that.
Greg Gutfeld
Touche.
Jessica Tarlock
Yes. Harold is certainly more conservative than I am, but I'm definitely in the middle to the right side of the party, and I thought it was a lot of fun. Who knows what the matchup will be if she's gonna run for Senate, and then she could do Senate and the presidency potentially. But what I do think is interesting, at least on the Republican side of things, is the question around whether J.D. vance is a slam dunk right to be the nominee. Trump has said, oh, JD's been doing a great job. Of course he would be. I'm sure Marco Rubio is interested in this. I'm sure that other names will pop up. Maybe Pete Hegseth is interested in or people we're not even thinking about. So Greg is pointing at it. Greg is running for president.
Greg Gutfeld
That's true. That's true.
Jesse Waters
Greg, your name was mentioned. You. The floor is yours.
Greg Gutfeld
Well, thank you. I've always liked this floor.
Jessica Tarlock
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
You know, we were joking about kind of the spectrum of what a Democrat is. Jessica considers herself more of a moderate Democrat. Harold Ford is more moderate than she is. But what is the spectrum of a Democrat? When 200 Dems in the House vote against a ban of sexual experimentation on children? Like, where is this? There is no moderate in that. There isn't even liberal in there in that. That is just repulsive. I mean, and you know that they're going to say they're doing it for compassion. They're going to game that phrase. They're going to say they're protecting the children's freedom to have their genitals cut off by some medical fetishist butchers. And this, I think this is a lesson for all of us. We are told often that woke is broke. It's gone. We beat it, it's over. As long as this is going on, WOKE is still alive. There's still a bunch of sick, craven cowards who are politicians and they put their fear of activists before the concerns of kids. They need to be shamed for this. I mean, 200 of them. Does anybody ask them why?
Dana Perino
Can I say something about that? Because I think that the autopsy that the Democrats were going to do would have shown them that one of the issues where they lost the Most, maybe a 97. 3 issue, or we'll call it an 8020 issue.
Greg Gutfeld
To be fair, it's the sunk cost.
Dana Perino
They don't want to know about it. So they want to continue to vote that way and not have to look backwards is one of the reasons that they lost.
Greg Gutfeld
It's fear and it's the sunk cost fallacy that they put all their eggs into this horrible basket and they can't admit they went down a really, really dark, bad path and they got to pay for it.
Jesse Waters
And I'm sure AOC was one of those 200.
Brian Kilme
No. Yeah, one of the 200 that vote for it. I wrote down the names of ones who didn't. Cuellar, Vicente Gonzalez, Don Davis. Where the Dems had voted to not do that. Voted with Republicans on the Republic. On the Democratic side, AOC against JD it was the Vericite poll. That's your favorite poll as of right now. You like Reuters?
Paul Morrow
A little.
Brian Kilme
Vericite's your second. Emerson had JD winning 44, 41. She gets people under 35. She gets Hispanics. JD's got everybody else. I also think Republicans also going to get in the race. Youngkin gets in. I think Kemp gets in. Desantis gets in. I would be surprised if Tom Cotton gets in on the left. I think Bashir Shapiro, Mayor Pete are all going to jump in and probably somebody that's going to surprise me.
Jessica Tarlock
Gavin Newsom or he's at.
Brian Kilme
Oh yeah, Gavin Newsom.
Jesse Waters
Does Hegseth get in?
Brian Kilme
Not if JD runs, but if JD.
Jesse Waters
Runs and runs, I think he doesn't run.
Brian Kilme
I'm just saying he would never go. This like family. Jd, Pete and Rubio. Rubio said in that, in that, that article. I'm not going to run if JD.
Greg Gutfeld
Did you see Rubio on the Age of Disclosure? No. Why? Nobody here has seen that movie.
Dana Perino
Going to watch.
Brian Kilme
Have you seen ufo?
Greg Gutfeld
Yes, he's on there. Something's, something's gonna happen before he's getting.
Brian Kilme
Questions about that movie. Yeah, he has. No, it's a big deal.
Greg Gutfeld
It's a big deal. No, I mean I'm a skeptic and that movie is pretty, I mean the fact that he's in it, that's a big deal.
Dana Perino
I feel like we should all watch it and then have a segment we.
Greg Gutfeld
Should do an entire special on.
Jessica Tarlock
I want to do the Grok segment.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Jessica Tarlock
It's so funny.
Jesse Waters
Grok said Greg was smart. Oh, speaking of, speaking of, now I hate Grok. Up next, President Trump has mellowed on marijuana.
Brian Kilme
Hey, Rudo.

President Trump signing an executive order on marijuana earlier, reclassifying the drug to its three, placing it under the same category as Tylenol with codeine, effectively easing federal restrictions on the drug. To be clear, it's not full legalization. Here's 47. Making the medical case.
Donald Trump
Stay away from drugs. Unless a drug is recommended by a doctor for medical reasons, just don't do it. At the same time, the facts compel the federal government to recognize that marijuana can be legitimate in terms of medical Applications when carefully administered.
Greg Gutfeld
So, Dana, there's a, there's like a kind of a contradiction here in which which people are saying, you know, this is an effort to get the youth vote. But at the same breath, no medical marijuana is used by the elderly to help alleviate pain, which I would agree with. It has medical benefits. But if you're trying to get a vote through a recreational drug, when we're seeing the amount of drugs that are already out there, I'm not crazy about it, but I'm for the medical thing.
Dana Perino
Well, Biden was going to do this. Well, Trump was. There was a possibility that he was going to do it in his first term.
Paul Morrow
Yeah.
Dana Perino
Didn't do it then. Biden was gonna do it for four years. Now President Trump has done it. Just Yesterday on Newsroom, Dr. Siegel told us that there's this new study that says that there's actually very little medical marijuana benefit. This is what I've decided. Even going back 15 years, we've been doing this show. You had asked me at the beginning, when we, when legalization of marijuana was first happening in Colorado, that was like, on the first, how I felt about it. I'm like, I'm a just say no, kid. I don't like it. And then I go through the years, I see all these things. I know people want it. I'm at this point. Knock yourselves out.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Dana Perino
But just please stop smoking it on the street. It smells terrible.
Greg Gutfeld
They did do the. Dana's alluding to a study where they looked at whether marijuana, Brian. Could alleviate anxiety or pain. And they found that people still could not watch Fox and Friends while high.
Brian Kilme
Right. I was looking at that study and nothing about Fox and Friends. I don't know what you extrapolated from that. We'll have to look at that in the break. But a couple of things. I did not believe this. You talk about Dana giving in. Gallup did a poll. They said in 1969, they said, who wants to legalize marijuana? 12% of the public. Now it's up to 64% of the public now who said in 1969, 4% said that marijuana use has no. Gives no, is good for you. Now 47% say they're all for it. So it's a popular thing. I think it's a bad thing. Marijuana is more powerful than ever. I guess they really debated in the White House for a few hours because they're going back and forth on all sides. I think it could be a rough road going down. I just think it's just there's nothing good about it. 40% of all the accidents have some type of marijuana use involved.
Greg Gutfeld
Well, there is, I mean, like if you just look at it as a substance, Jessica, it has its benefits and it has its risks. But we are seeing with this intense thc, a lot of psychosis on the street, a lot of young people who either predisposed to schizophrenia, it gets, it gets worse. How are we going to deal with that?
Jessica Tarlock
I don't know. It feels like we need a new classification because I do understand that it shouldn't be in the same category as heroin. That's obviously ludicrous. But it doesn't mean that it should be, I think for me, in the same conversation as like steroids or Tylenol with codeine, which is just like an extra strength pain reliever. But I do understand that, you know, the tide has really turned on this and it's going to be incumbent, especially on parents to be really diligent about this with their children and to talk to them about the effects of it because I think you're going to have a lot more people who are also going to be driving around high, which is, they are.
Greg Gutfeld
I mean, it's going to, you know what's going to happen. The self driving cars will allow you to get high in the backseat. That's exactly what I've learned from research, Jesse. We always reclassify things to make them less dangerous or same. Why don't we reclassify in the other direction?
Jesse Waters
Well, how far do you go? What's more dangerous than LSD and heroin? I don't think you can go higher than that.
Greg Gutfeld
Jesse Waters, Prime Time.
Jesse Waters
I'm with everybody. I mean, it's not heroin, but it's also not testosterone, which I heard your numbers are low, Greg. Yes, I want to see Siegel about that. You probably put it at Schedule 2 along with Vicodin and cocaine. But I don't think it makes it legal. Right. He's not legalizing it and it's legal anyway. I mean, it's legal everywhere. I don't know why people are crazy. I have a poll from pew. Pew, pew, pew. 88% of adults say they want it legalized for medical and recreational. I don't know. It's, you know, whenever I take a gummy, I'm wiped out for days.
Greg Gutfeld
I know, man. Last night on your show. Oh, man, I know. All right, up next, President Trump trolling Biden and Barack with new plaques.
Jessica Tarlock
President Trump is trolling his Democratic predecessors for his presidential walk of fame. And yep, he wrote them Himself. The Biden plaque, which is placed under the portrait of the auto pen, refers to him as Sleepy Joe Biden and calls him the worst president in American history. As for Barack Hussein Obama, Trump slaps him with the title of one of the most divisive political figures in American history. I'm leading this block, so I'll just lead by saying I think that this is repulsive behavior. But, Dana, what did you make of the new.
Dana Perino
I just. I don't get ruffled by it because I just think this. You are. We are entertained. They are entertained. They're wanting to do this. And I imagine that when, if and when there's a next Democratic president, they'll take him down.
Jessica Tarlock
Definitely. Brian, are you pro troll plaque?
Brian Kilme
No, I'm not. I'm not for this at all. I don't think so. They got to take or just mock President Trump or put something on his plaque. So I'm not for the auto pen. If he's going to do it outdoors and do that, just do it right. Just put the profiles up there. I'm not for dispelling or saying anything bad. Plus, a lot of presidents that people think were bad, like Ulysses S. Grant, ended up being looked at as great. I don't think it's going to happen with Joe Biden, but I'm not for the trolling.
Jessica Tarlock
Jesse, would you like to continue the maturity streak or ruin it?
Jesse Waters
I don't like the tone of that question. Well, if you think this is repulsive, what would you call what Bill Clinton did in there, Jessica? I mean, this is a plow.
Jessica Tarlock
Yeah, let's be clear.
Jesse Waters
He's having a little fun. It's his own house. He can decorate our house. Come on. It's just a word, Jessica. It's his own house. He lives there. He showers there. He eats there. It's his house for now. For the next three years, maybe more. So he could decorate it however he wants. Am I that upset about it? No. I'm upset about all of this fentanyl pouring into the country and you guys siding with these people.
Jessica Tarlock
Words and deeds, right, Greg?
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. I mean, this is. I think it's petty. I think it's wrong. I'm embarrassed. I'm kidding. This is free money on the table. How hard was it to do these plaques? And how big is the payoff? It's the same with the speech last night. He does things that don't cost a dime, and they're entertaining to us. This is why we don't deserve him. See, we don't deserve this. Do you remember how boring cable television was before the five? Do you remember that? No, you don't. You just assume it's always been this charming. No, we came in and we change things. We did things that said, like, they can't do that. They have. Animals are great. They have all these weird little things going on in a news show that makes no sense. That's what he's doing. He's saying, like, what do I do this? What if I do that? And then he does it and it's wonderful. I. I say, let's do more of it.
Brian Kilme
It more plaques, more plaques, more plaques.
Jesse Waters
It can go in the presidential library in Florida. Guys, it'll be a whole wing. We could walk around. We can read it. It'll be fun.
Brian Kilme
With the new BBC money, he's going.
Jesse Waters
To get exactly how many billion.
Jessica Tarlock
One More Thing is up.
Dana Perino
It's time for one More thing. I don't have a podcast. I have something that's like a Hallmark Christmas movie. A California family was reunited with their dog after he went missing four years ago. The dasha named Choco was found at a shelter over 2,000 miles away in Detroit. A team of volunteers helped fly the dog back to California, where he was reunited with his family.
Greg Gutfeld
Could have been the same make and model of dog. All right, tonight, Cat Timp, Michael. Malice, Brianna Lyman, Lehman Tyrus. That's tonight. Let's do this great Sexy polar bear news.
Jesse Waters
Roll the music.
Donald Trump
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
This is a polar bear at the Toledo Zoo. Toledo is in Ohio, a state, Jesse. They like to roll in the snow to cool down and clean their fur and groom, which helps maintain the natural oils. Who doesn't love a natural oil? And insulating properties of their coat. They overheat easily, but you knew that due to their thick fur and blubber. So snow provides a way to lower their body temperature while raising hours to sultry and sexy heights.
C.B. Cotton
I'll say.
Dana Perino
Jesse, what you got tonight?
Jesse Waters
Okay, so this Japanese woman, she married Chat GPT.
Dana Perino
Yep.
Jesse Waters
Am I surprised she's Japanese?
Greg Gutfeld
Yes, in a way, I am.
Jesse Waters
I thought it would be a Canadian.
Paul Morrow
Yeah.
Jesse Waters
Tonight, Jesse Waters prime time. Johnny went to Santa.

This episode of "The Five" delivers a dynamic roundtable on two major topics: breaking details in the Brown University and MIT shootings, and reactions to President Trump’s recent speech on the economy. The panelists also touch on the shifting landscape of marijuana laws, playful political jabs, and speculation around future presidential candidates. Their trademark banter, skepticism, and humor infuse even the most serious stories with engaging debate and personal flair.
[01:21-10:51]
Providence Police Identify Suspect:
– Providence police have named a suspect in the Brown University campus shooting, with an active warrant out for arrest.
– Authorities are probing a potential connection to the murder of MIT professor Nuno Loro in Brookline, Massachusetts, one hour from Brown.
Emerging Narrative & Speculation:
– Surveillance footage shows the suspect “casing” the Brown neighborhood; a second person is seen on video but not necessarily linked.
– Speculative links to a car tracked from Providence to Boston, possibly the same make/model.
Personal Impact of Professor’s Death:
– MIT professor, a nuclear fusion expert from Portugal with young children, was shot in his upscale Boston condo.
Law Enforcement Insights from Paul Morrow:
– The link between crimes might hinge on a license plate reader match.
– Police may have put an alert on a suspicious car; the same vehicle shows up near both crime scenes.
Jesse Watters [04:06]:
“If they had had cameras there and had done their job, if this is connected to MIT, the professor at MIT would be alive. So that's sad.”
Jessica Tarlov [06:23]:
“It’s crushing to learn the details ... he lived on the first floor and had three little kids at home.”
Jessica Tarlov [07:24]: “There is a lot going on in your phone that has not been verified ... be careful about that.”
Paul Morrow [07:49]:
“If I had a guess, they had an alert on the car, the car tripwired someplace near the second crime [MIT]. ... that’s the commonality.”
Jesse Watters [09:09]:
“The hit, if it was a hit, was incredibly sloppy, which makes me think it wasn’t a hit ... it seems really personal.”
Paul Morrow [09:38]:
“They’re not entirely clear ... how the shooter entered [the building]. ... If he went to the first classroom that presented itself, it says to me ... he’s sending some kind of a message at either Brown writ large or America.”
[12:19-24:45]
Speech Style and Reception:
– Trump gave a brisk, high-energy 18-minute speech emphasizing wage gains, energy prices, border control, and other economic “wins.”
– Panel critiques focus as much on style (“mile a minute,” “shouting”) as content.
Fact-Checking Claims:
– Jessica Tarlov debunks and questions several statistics, including inflation, employment, and drug price reductions.
– Discussion over “warrior dividend” for military — is it new money or a rebrand of existing benefits?
Public and Political Reaction:
– Some say the speech was effective for direct, televised communication.
– Others argue metrics presented were exaggerated or unsubstantiated.
Donald Trump [12:36]:
“When I took office, inflation was the worst in 48 years ... we have brought more positive change to Washington than any administration in American history.”
Greg Gutfeld [13:46]:
“One exaggeration after another exaggeration ... trying to convince Americans the sky is green, that trees can walk.”
Dana Perino [14:19]:
“He wants to be on offense on this issue ... he has time for some of these things to set in ... if you can keep this trajectory going, it takes inflation a long time to come down.”
Jesse Watters [16:57]:
“It might have been his most effective speech because ... direct injection of his accomplishments that the media doesn’t cover.”
Jessica Tarlov [20:06]:
“He said unemployment is down. It's up to 4.6% where it hasn't been since 2021 ... bringing down drug prices by 600%. You can't bring down prices by 600%.”
Greg Gutfeld [21:31]:
Speaking on the speech: “This was a bait and switch. The media ... expected something big ... instead, what did he do? Just showed up ... had to talk fast, couldn’t waste any time.”
– Jessica Tarlov and Dana Perino spar over military “warrior dividend,” with Jessica citing reporting the money is just a reallocation, not a new benefit.
– Perino [24:18]: “The Defense Department can say ... when they do the budget we’ll take the tariff money and put that back in the account.”
[25:48-31:51]
AOC “Stomping” Poll:
– Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez touts an early poll showing her beating VP JD Vance in a hypothetical 2028 contest, joking: “Let the record show, I would stomp him.” [26:07]
Panel Reactions:
– General consensus: these polls are fun but too early to mean much.
– Dana Perino: “She’s funny, she’s got charisma ... If that is the matchup, we’re going to have a heck of an election season.” [26:31]
– Discussion widens: Who else might run in 2028? Names include Rubio, Youngkin, Kemp, DeSantis, Hegseth, Newsom, Bashir, Shapiro, Mayor Pete.
Debate on “Moderate” Democrats & Transgender Policies:
– Greg Gutfeld criticizes House Democrats for voting against a ban on transgender surgeries for minors: “There is no moderate in that ... that is just repulsive.” [28:37]
Vibe Check:
– Light, playful banter about political spectrum, seriousness of issues, and cable news culture.
[32:54-37:42]
Policy Change:
– Trump signs order reclassifying marijuana to Schedule III (with Tylenol w/codeine), easing federal rules but not legalizing it.
– Framed as medical, not recreational — Trump: “Unless a drug is recommended by a doctor ... don’t do it.” [33:11]
Public Sentiment:
– Growing popular support for legalization (Gallup: 64% favor, Pew: 88% for medical/recreational use).
Panel Concerns:
– Debate over potential youth use, risk for accidents, high-potency THC, and need for a new classification system.
– Jessica Tarlov: “...the tide has really turned on this and it’s going to be incumbent, especially on parents to be really diligent...” [36:00]
– Jesse Watters jokes: “Whenever I take a gummy, I’m wiped out for days.” [37:27]
[38:06-41:13]
Political Theater:
– President Trump installs plaques criticizing Biden (“Sleepy Joe ... worst president in American history”) and Obama (“one of the most divisive ... in history”) in the White House.
Panel Responses:
– Jessica Tarlov calls it “repulsive behavior,” Brian Kilmeade says “I’m not for the trolling.” [38:40–38:58]
– Jesse Watters is unfazed: “It’s just a word, Jessica. It’s his own house. He lives there...so he can decorate it however he wants.” [39:44]
– Greg Gutfeld: “This is free money on the table ... it’s entertaining to us. This is why we don’t deserve him.” [40:09]
– Panel agrees it’s a classic Trump move: eye-rolling for some, entertaining for others.
[41:29–42:49]
