Dana Perino
Hello everyone. I'm Dana Perino along with Kayleigh McEnany, Harold Ford Jr. Jesse Watters and Joey Jones. It's five o' clock in New York City and this is the five President Trump reacting for the first time after Iran launched a barrage of retaliatory missiles at a US Base in Qatar. Trump called it a quote, very weak response which we expected and have very effectively countered. And he goes on to say this. I am pleased to report that no Americans were harmed and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they've gotten it all out of their system and there will hopefully be no further hate. I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice which made it possible for no lives to be lost and nobody to be injured. Want to go to Jennifer Griffin, she is at the Pentagon. Will give us an update before we kick off the five. Hi Jennifer.
Jennifer Griffin
Hi Dana. Well, it was extremely tense at US Air bases across the Middle east about four hours ago. Fortunately now things are a lot calmer. But earlier today the Iranians fired at least 14 missiles, some of them ballistic, at the U.S. air base at Al Udid. That's the largest military base in the Middle East. Normally there are 5 to 10,000 US troops at that base. The nobody was injured. All but one of the missiles were intercepted by air defenses inside Qatar. The President, as you mentioned, thanked Iran for giving the US A heads up. That may come as a surprise to the Iranians, but it does appear that the US had advance warning. They had taken a lot of the aircraft and individuals and people out of that air base and many at the US Embassy were told to shelter in place. No American injuries, no American deaths. And so now the President is calling for Iran, Israel and others to come back to the negotiating table. But it's not clear whether Iran will take that offer. The response by Iran was in effect because of that US that very, very stealthy and very successful B2 bombing raid on three Iranian nuclear sites this weekend. There were 14 Massive Ordnance Penetrators. Those are 30,000 pound bombs dropped on two of Iran's nuclear sites and then 30 Tomahawk missiles fired from a submarine at a third site in Isfahan. So right now we wait and see what happens next. But there are indications that Israel also might be looking to wind up their operations in Iran in the coming days. And now we wait and see what Iran does next.
Dana Perino
All right, Jennifer, thank you for being here throughout all of this. Sticking around the table here. I want to start with you, Joey, because on America's Newsroom we talked about this and what it was like for soldiers to be at an American base waiting for what might be happening. And you said that they were okay because they knew that they would be able to engage if they needed to. And now we have this result.
Joey Jones
Yeah, it's on tape. This is exactly what I thought the immediate response would be. I still worry that there will be either proxy groups or we'll talk about later sleeper cells in this country. There'll be some other way of showing their discontent. But, you know, when President Trump says when he puts out a statement like that, it makes you think he's got some inside information on what their intent is. I love that he said, thanks for giving us that warning. The men and women on these bases, they're football players that just saw the clock go zero for the game to start. They don't want war, but they're ready for it. That's why they're in our military. That's what Pete Hegseth has beat the war drum on to ad nauseam. And so I got a text from an army special operator that said, you know, we're hunkered down. We don't want anything to happen, but at least we know if something does, we can shoot back. And, man, that's a big turn of the tide, I'll tell you that.
Dana Perino
Indeed. Jesse, I don't think people have had the benefit of hearing from you yet since this all went down.
Jesse Watters
Well, I'm glad they didn't hear from me Saturday night because I was at a party.
Dana Perino
Me, too.
Jesse Watters
But so far, so good. These strikes in retaliation look to be telegraphed. They didn't want any American casualties that would have triggered an overwhelming response. And they have to show a little something to their own public to show that they're still in charge. So there's no American casualties, there's no escalation at this point, and there's no mission creep at this point, which is great. And now you have an Iranian regime which is the lead sponsor of terror without their nuclear scientists, their generals, their air defenses, or much of a nuclear program program left. This is a best case scenario. When I saw it happen on Saturday night, I thought it was a righteous strike. Donald Trump gave peace a chance, but the Ayatollah gave him the middle finger, figuratively. He wanted to meet him in Turkey face to face for negotiations, and the Ayatollah said no. So this was the last resort, and it shows the effectiveness of this administration, the precision and the secrecy to be able to pull it off. But also, you know, the prestige of the US Military had taken a little bit of a beating after the Afghanistan withdrawal and all the trans stuff. To come out and do something like this where they're putting a bomb on the target the size of an air conditioner. It's just an incredible feat. You're seeing our missile defense system knocking out other missiles in the middle of the sky. It's just amazing. And deterrence is back because you know, Joe Biden. Don't, don't. And our enemies did Barack Obama drawing the red lines. They were meaningless. And China's watching. The cartels are on notice now. And even Denmark probably won't put up much of a fight over Greenland. And even the trade negotiations, this gives the President a little bit more leverage because it's not like we're going to drop bunker busters on Germany. But when you are willing to go to this extreme for something you believe in, the people that are at the negotiating table are going to take notice. I'm sure Lutnick is going to exploit this. There will be a damage assessment. No one knows the extent of the damage. It looks pretty devastating. You don't know if they squirreled away any enriched uranium and they're just spinning something on the fly now. Nobody knows. And no one knows as you're right, you know, you could have a revenge attack in a year from now. Nobody knows. But so far, oil prices are down, the market was up. It's contained at this point, so well done.
Dana Perino
All right. Harold Ford Jr. The one development today was this attack by the Iranians which looks, as the President said, weak and might be the last one because it's similar to what they did after Soleimani. Right. They had a response, but they told all the people in Iran it was an amazing response. And we all know that's not true. People inside don't. But what do you think?
Harold Ford Jr.
Well, good to be back with everybody. What a weekend. I believe Joey is largely right, if not totally right in one regard. Our men and women are ready to go to war. They understand what the implications are. Jesse, you're right. This notion that our military somehow another had been weakened over the last six months or three years. A lot of that was refuted. What the military did in terms of demonstrating their capabilities, the choreography of what they did, the planning and obviously the President himself orchestrating from all press reports an unbelievable deception within deception was nothing short of astonishing. We're now at a time we got to figure out how we de escalate and I think what the President wanthis definition of de escalation is bringing them to the table to try to ensure that they don't have nuclear weapons, that the capability has been removed. Jesse is right. This damage assessment. I'm curious to hear Joey's assessment of how he thinks we should be thinking about this and how long we should be prepared to wait to understand. In other words, we have to put human assets on the ground to understand if we got all of this or not. I guess we'll learn a lot of this in the coming days. But to Democrats, I know we're going to. We have a segment on this who are invested in the process as opposed to the results here, and who are raising issues that we didn't raise when it was a Democrat president. We've gotten to a point where Republicans raise things only when it's Democrats and Democrats raise things when it's only Republicans. We should be happy this was an American success. What we defined, we wanted to do, the President wanted to do. Now, Dan, I think the thing for me that is most concerning as we sit here today is are we talking about regime change or are we satisfied with where we are now in determining if we were able to remove this capability? And I guess over the next few weeks we'll be able to have this conversation.
Dana Perino
It's hard to know, kayleigh, because it's 300ft below ground and it's hard for us to imagine what the bunker busters are actually able to do because you can't see it.
Kayleigh McEnany
Yeah. And from what I understand, we plan to pick up some of the post damage assessment from signals intelligence so we can overhear Iranian communications. We're very sophisticated. And Israel has penetrated deep within Iran. So they have assets in their informants who will give us that information. We look, Iran today tried to save face and instead they fell on their face spectacularly. And if you had any question if Iran was a rational actor, I believe the answer to that is categorically no. You know, this all began the posture before Fordo was hit. Was President Trump saying, unconditional surrender. Iran responded, we will never surrender. Okay? That's to the number one power in the world. We are the world's hegemonic power here in the United States. So that was their answer. Then they were asked, hey, are you going to negotiate with the United States? They said, no. And they said, and we will never end enrichment. We would rather have war. That is the posture of Iran. And then today, maybe it was an intentionally weak response, maybe not. But any response in my mind against the world's hegemonic power was going to end this way. And instead, what they got today, China's already left, Russia's already left. Well, guess who condemned the attacks? Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, uae, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Yemen, and the Palestinian Authority. So you've literally lost everyone in the Middle East. Everyone except, I think Iraq hasn't condemned it yet. Maybe they have. And I just want to say, lastly, just how wrong everyone has been on President Trump. You know, they said tariffs. You know, the economy is going to end. While the economy still rolling along. Oil is going to rise. Well, oil's falling. World War Three is about to start. Well, instead, you've got the entire Middle east, it seems, set up in a posture where we may see more Middle east peace accords. So rather than World War Three, we may get more peace. And rather than 34 felony counts, President Trump may end up with 34 Nobel Peace Prizes. That was for the leftists. You can clip this and make it go viral and go nuts.
Dana Perino
One of my favorite tweets over the weekend was somebody who said he just started World War Three and it's over.
Kayleigh McEnany
Exactly.
Dana Perino
All right, up next, the world is bracing for other ways Iran could retaliate, like cutting off a crucial waterway for oil.
Unnamed Speaker
This is gonna be a long, hot summer.
Harold Ford Jr.
We should be together.
Joey Jones
With your feet up on the T.
Harold Ford Jr.
Let freedom roll.
Kayleigh McEnany
And it is time to take the quiz.
Harold Ford Jr.
It's five questions in less than five minutes. We asked people on the streets of New York City to play along. Let's see how you do.
Jennifer Griffin
Take the quiz every day@thequiz.box, then come back here to see how you did.
Jesse Watters
Thank you for taking the queen. Iran's plotting other ways to retaliate, including a threat to shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway through which about 20% of the world's oil and natural gas shipments pass through. But the White House is warning they'd be foolish to make that decision.
Joey Jones
I think that would be suicidal.
Jesse Watters
Their entire economy runs through the Strait of Hormuz. If they want to destroy their own economy and cause disruptions in the world, I think that would be their decision.
Unnamed Speaker
If they do that, it'll be another terrible mistake. It's economic suicide for them if they do it. It would be, I think, a massive escalation that would merit a response not just by us, but from others.
Jesse Watters
President Trump keeping a close eye on the situation. He posted on Truth. Quote, everyone keep oil prices down. I'm watching. You're playing right into the hands of the enemy. Don't do it. And from oil to cyber. The DHS is warning of retaliatory cyber attacks from Iran. So that would be really dumb. If the Iranians did that. Harold Ford, Jr. Not only would they invite a huge response from the world, but they'd hurt their own economy.
Harold Ford Jr.
More important, they would hurt their own economy. You think about it. First of all, in the history of this, of this strait, they've never closed it. Number two, 20 million barrels of oil a day go through there. 20% of what the world uses. We use 20 million barrels a day as Americans. So 20% of the production each day we use. We fortunately, are not as impacted by that because of what we do in our own country, the production that has resulted here over the many years. Barack Obama, who probably had the worst posture towards oil and gas, but was as good as any president has been as it relates to oil and gas drilling and exploration in the country, was a big part of that. And now we are where we are. I think if they do this, it also demonstrates to the Iranian people that this regime that's in charge, and I'm not arguing that we should be for regime change, but why would you do something that would hurt your own economy when you've already failed the people economically for so many years? So I agree with Secretary Rubio and Vice President Vance on this. This seems like an odd thing to do, but I got to tell you, you can't put odd things out of the realm when you talk about Iran.
Jesse Watters
Right. But they do seem totally focused on regime survival at this point.
Dana Perino
Yeah.
Kayleigh McEnany
I mean, one would presume. And the greatest way for your regime not to survive is you've already pissed off the United States. Why don't you throw in China? Right. Because China, one thing they care most about is China. They don't care about Iran and China. In Q1, first quarter of this year, 38% of oil that went through the Strait of Hormuz went to China. China cannot allow the Strait of Hormuz to close. That's why Secretary of State Marco Rubio was so smart to say this strait can't close China. Time to step up. So Iran's not going to do that because then they get China on their bad side. They already have Russia on their bad side. Prior to this all occurring, Putin made the point to emphasize our strategic cooperation agreement with Iran does not include military defense. So you've lost Russia, you've lost China, you've lost the axis of resistance. And Rahm Emanuel made a really smart point last week before all this Went off. He said, when the chips are down, the axis of resistance doesn't appear to be found anywhere. And you want to lose China further. Isolate them, close the strait.
Jesse Watters
It's amazing going into this strike, Dana. You go through the list of possible things that they could do, and at this point, it seems like it's not as bad as everybody thought.
Dana Perino
Well, and I think that we haven't mentioned someone, a part of this attack and all of this effort that we haven't mentioned yet, and that's the Israelis. The Israelis are so innovative, they're so creative, their intelligence destroyed. Hezbollah and Hamas degraded their capabilities to the point that Iran, who relies on proxies in order to attack us or the Jewish people in Israel, they can't do it. And now, because Israel did all of that intel work, and then they went in and they got air supremacy, that meant that they could take out missile launchers and rockets. So. And it gave. It cleared the way for President Trump to be able to say, all right, I'll do it, and I'll do the final. Because you don't have that capability, I'll do that final thing. And it was such a moment of unity that I think the Iranians are just sitting there going, what. What could we do? We could throw. We could throw a few missiles to Qatar. Now, that didn't work. What I am concerned about is the cyber capability, because you could take out missiles and things like that, but it doesn't take that many people to figure out a way to hurt. For example, let's see, what would they do to America? Let's say ban TikTok. Like, maybe they would actually ban TikTok. And there would be.
Harold Ford Jr.
That would be a good thing. Please do that.
Dana Perino
There would be a huge outcry, and American children, everyone would be so upset. The cyber issue, I think, is the one that we have to think about the most. I think the sleeper cells. We're going to talk about that in a moment. I understand. But Iran, because of what the Israelis did, is kind of unable to respond in a way that they would have, you know, three years ago, before October 7th.
Jesse Watters
What do you think's the biggest threat right now that we face from Iran at this point?
Joey Jones
Well, we just saw a suicide bomber in Damascus. But I think what's different this time around is that the Arab countries have the stomach for it. I think they'll be a part of the solution, not the problem. I think the biggest threat probably is terror here in our country, but I don't know that. I guess my response to that has been, if they're already here, they were already here. When you look back at 9 11, to my knowledge, there was a major action by Clinton or Bush that said now's the time. It was planned for a long time, and in 911 it happened. I would argue you could juxtapose Trump's actions on the nuclear sites to had Clinton taken out Osama bin Laden when he had the opportunities to. And so for the pacifists out there, sometimes military action is the prevention of war. If you look at Iran's military capabilities, they have a unique navy. It's built around, like, the swarm mentality. They have small, agile ships that can attack. They can't really defend. Last time their navy went up against us in 1988, we sunk half of it. So I don't think, you know, it really depends on does President Trump want to keep pushing from his post that he put out or his statement. I really don't know that any of this stuff is on the table anymore.
Jesse Watters
Yeah. And from what Jennifer Grisham mentioned, it looks like he's probably going to not pressure Netanyahu, but maybe guide him off this, what looks like an attempt on the life of the Ayatollah. If they can maybe not do that and there's no more retaliatory strikes, then this is almost like the perfect operation.
Kayleigh McEnany
I think you're exactly right. I mean, his tweets were Peace and the hate. Both sides should step back. I'm paraphrasing that last one. I think you're exactly right. He doesn't want regime change. That regime change post was meant for the Ayatollah. It was a warning shot to him. I think it was a head fake, but a warning shot, an important one.
Harold Ford Jr.
Okay, can I say something? Jennifer Griffin has been unbelievable. We're so fortunate to have him.
Jesse Watters
And I think you have been unbelievable. Thank you so much. Well, of what you've said over the weekend, I did not see it was.
Joey Jones
But I heard a lot about it.
Kayleigh McEnany
It was common sense from Harold.
Jesse Watters
All right, up next, AOC and other angry Democrats pushing impeachment after President Trump's flawless strikes on Iran.
Dana Perino
9:50.
Jesse Watters
No matter how much time goes by.
Joey Jones
No matter how much we grow up.
Kayleigh McEnany
Well, the Democrats seem to be divided on how to respond to President Trump's decisive strikes on Iran's nuclear sites. AOC with this hot take quote, it is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment. Others not going so far as impeachment, but are upset that the strikes were done without congressional authorization.
Jesse Watters
The President has acted so prematurely. The destruction of these facilities is a positive in the sense that it will set back Iran's program. Trump lied to the American people and to his voters, promising he would not get us in yet another Middle east war. He was lying to us about what he was going to do. It is so grossly unconstitutional.
Kayleigh McEnany
Literally.
Harold Ford Jr.
You could have hollered at us on Monday. I've been always calling to destroy these nuclear facilities.
Joey Jones
It cleared clearly could endanger our forces.
Jesse Watters
In the region and Americans around the world.
Kayleigh McEnany
John Fetterman, the one voice who has been so supportive on this. Jesse, I want to ask you if Democrats were informed, and we know Chuck Schumer was informed, just before we know there was an attempt to call Hakeem Jeffries. Caroline Levitt has confirmed this for us. But if they were informed more broadly, do you think this would have remained a secret from the press?
Jesse Watters
No, they would have leaked it. Shifty Schiff leaked everything from the Russia investigation. I wouldn't trust the Democrats as far as I can throw them, and I can throw Democrats far. Ask Harold. If Biden had launched these strikes, Kaylee, Morning Joe would have wanted to throw a military parade for him. Democrats would have lined up and called him bold and decisive, Churchillian. I can see it now. Right now they're saying they should have been able to vote on it. They didn't want to vote on it. They don't want to vote on anything. And why would you have Congress vote on a secret airstrike? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It's a secret strike. You don't let the whole world know you're about to do it by calling a vote. This isn't a ground invasion where you need authorization. Obama and Biden launched thousands of missile strikes against Syria, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq. No Democrat ever called for congressional authorizations. They didn't say anything. They're trying to find this clever political terrain that they only care about inside the Beltway, where they can be against Trump on a technicality, but not against this mission. And they think it's really smart in Washington. But everybody in the rest of the country is like, yeah, we know what you guys are up to. You guys sound like stupid politicians. Now, Barack Obama, he was anti war, and he won the nomination kind of based off that. But he was anti Iraq war. He wasn't anti war. AOC is like, anti war. Like, if Trump had launched strikes against the devil, she would have been, like, impeached. That's how crazy she is. I used to think she had a shot at a career in Washington. No more. I'm gonna have Johnny run against her in Brooklyn. That's how sure I am he could win, man.
Kayleigh McEnany
Johnny for Congress. I like it. Dana, to Jesse's exact point, Senator Kaine was calling for a debate before the American people. How do you have a public debate about a stealth mission?
Dana Perino
Well, also, it's like we have been actually having this debate for 20 years about Iran wanting to get a nuclear weapon. And it's been one of the most bipartisan agreements in Washington for 20 years. Bush, 43, Obama, Biden, Trump, Biden, Trump. Everybody was against Iran getting a nuclear weapon. The intel community, maybe more on that later. Israel told the president, look, they've lit the fuse. They are two to four weeks away from being able to have a bomb. Here's what we've done to lay the groundwork for you. If you want to please, sir, if you would make that decision, that would be. You'll be so grateful. And that's what happened. And instead of on the night, you remember when Osama bin Laden was killed, remember the celebration outside of the White House. And Obama was every good thing under the sun. And in this one, they just want to complain about it. There's you. You couldn't even get Democrats to say, wow, our men and women in military uniform. Amazing. That was not their first reaction. Also, I would end with this. Hakeem Jeffries not answering the phone is the perfect metaphor for his leadership of the Democratic Party in the House.
Kayleigh McEnany
Yes, absolutely. That's well said. You know, Harold, So for AOC to say this merits impeachment, that's saying that it is a high crime and misdemeanor to deprive a maniac regime of nuclear weapons. I mean, it's preposterous. But my question to her would be, I mean, would you impeach Biden for attacking the Houthis without congressional authorization? Obama and Libya, Clinton, we can go down the list.
Harold Ford Jr.
I think you said it well yesterday when we were on with Brett about there have only been 11 authorizations of war, but over 150 efforts on the part of our military defending our interests around the globe. I understand what some of these people are talking about. But when Democrats, including the congresswoman from here in New York, suggest that the president ought to be impeached, the greatest destabilizer of peace and stability in the Middle east in my lifetime, and I'm 55 years old, has been the Iranians and the Israelis, to Dana's point, have done so much over the last several months. And we forget the pager where they blew up those guys. It had to be a very upsetting day for those fellows that had pagers in their pockets. And the things blew up to where we are today. And I don't mean to make light of it, this was an incredible effort. Now, the person I give a lot of respect to, because he has been consistent, because I think Democrats will only complain about it when it's Republicans, and Republicans a lot of times complain when it's Democrats when there's an effort using our military, has been Tim Kaine, who did this when there were Democrats in office and Republicans in office. I don't think he's right about this one. But I do think the reforming the War Powers act is probably a smart thing. People forget. It passed in 1973. Congress, Senate passed it. Nixon vetoed it. The Congress and the Senate overrode the veto. This is all about Vietnam and the intense conflicts there and the prolonged conflicts there. Congress wanted a greater voice. We may be at a point to take this situation. I think the president was right in what he did. He was constitutionally correct in what he did. We may need a longer conversation and a serious conversation about the War Powers act when we're not about to engage in military conflict, when people can look at it in a more sober, insane way.
Kayleigh McEnany
Yeah, and look, there's ample examples. Jonathan Turley points out Hillary Clinton arguing there's no need to inform Congress when she was Secretary of State. Joey, I'm curious your thoughts as someone.
Joey Jones
Who served just all of these Democrats that are losing their mind over President Trump doing something that might prevent war. You know, where in the hell were they at when Biden withdrew from Afghanistan and 13 of our service members died? I mean, we just showed a clip there of one of them going, oh, that definitely puts troops in danger. Well, you know, I've seen troops in danger. I've seen troops in danger. When Obama gave us rules of engagement that ultimately, in my opinion, went to the loss of my friends and my legs, I've seen troops in danger. When Biden brought us out of Afghanistan in a way that absolutely left us sitting ducks to the point that we negotiated with the Taliban to provide our security, that doesn't put troops in danger. Negotiating with our sworn enemy to provide security for us because they may not like the other guys worse than us. Where were you at then? Where were your crocodile tears, your call for impeachment? I mean, I can't wait for three or four months from now when there's an investigation and we find out that Hillary Clinton paid Christopher Steele to research and do a report that shows that Trump's a Mossad plan because that's the basis of impeachment for the Democrat Party.
Kayleigh McEnany
Wow. Well, we will keep you updated. All right. Up next, Joe Biden's wide open border nightmare. Iran might be waking up terror sleeper cells. Wow. Right here in the United States.
Joey Jones
President Trump secured our southern border and yet we're still paying the price for four years of Joe Biden's negligence after he let millions of unvetted migrants pour in. NBC News reports that Iran threatened to unleash attacks of sleeper cells inside the US if it was attacked. And Fox reports Border patrol nabbed over 50, 1500 Iranians crossing illegally since 2021, with nearly half released into US cities. Dana, I can't help but think back to 911 and our posture then and where we are now with TSA and Homeland Security and all the things we've done to monitor. Do you feel like maybe we're in a better place now to see these things coming?
Dana Perino
I think so. And I think the other thing that happened after 911 is when that wall came down between intel and law enforcement so you can share information. And also you have what Fran Townsend was talking about on Newsroom, which are these joint terrorism task forces and what that is, basically it has local law enforcement in the same room with Department of Homeland Security and the FBI, so that everybody is sharing information at the same time. And for the most part, it works pretty well. In addition, I believe that because of Patel and Bongino being at the FBI that they have had their eyes on any Iranian sleeper cells probably for a while. And the big concern, as Malusian talked about today, are the gotaways. Yeah, right. The ones that we don't know they are where they are. Well, I mean, our intel is pretty good.
Joey Jones
They're not all got aways. We're at least half of them in the US Cities. Jesse, I can't help but think that anyone in the in the Biden administration is really sitting there hoping nothing happens, not because they care about the lives of Americans, but because they don't want another thing to be blamed for.
Jesse Watters
Yeah, the political blowback would be astronomical if a sleeper cell activated after this attack on Iran. My God, he already has enough blood on his hands. We don't need any more. But imagine you have a country which is in the axis of evil and guys are coming over and he's catching and releasing them into the country. These are sleepy Joe, sleeper cells. I want everybody to know that. And then you also even look back a few years. Obama and Biden gave these guys billions of dollars and they nuked up and fed their proxies weapons. And we're cleaning that up. And then we have to clean up the backdoor scenario in case they want revenge years later. It's crazy. Let's go back to what we were talking about in the last segment. I understand people who have objections to getting involved. It's risky and there's obviously things you don't know could happen. But if you're worried about escalation, you can't be the same guy that wanted to have F22 jets shooting down Russian MIGs over Ukraine. You can't be like, oh, let's just sell missiles to the Ukrainians that can target Moscow and not be worried about escalation there. You know, just know you gotta be consistent here. And there's a lot of people who.
Joey Jones
Aren'T, Harold, inside of this, this idea that sleeper cells exist here, that Iran has already threatened to use them. When we look at some of these pro Palestinian protests, anti Israel protests that have broken out, we had the riots in LA last week, a lot of controversy over how they were handled. Who gets to handle them? Does the President get to control the National Guard? Should we as a society accept a license by the government to come in and crack down on these a lot.
Harold Ford Jr.
Quicker Now, Johnny, Joey, I think that we. The answer to that question is yes. Not only that, I believe we should track people who try to learn how to make a Molotov cocktail like the guy did out there in Denver. I think that we ought to crack down even harsher on people who make threats to politicians because they don't agree with them like the guy in Minnesota did. I think this is a bipartisan thing, regrettably. And unfortunately, even some of the opposition we didn't raise. You know, you have Tom Mass, Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene raising concerns about this, which I disagree with them, like I disagree with aoc, I would imagine. And Joy, you would have a strong perspective on this. I would imagine that the considerations around sleeper cells and domestic terrorism had to be a part of the deliberations in that, in that, in that situation room with the President and the team. And I have confidence, I know that when Leon Panetta was at the CIA that they, as Fran talked about this morning, they had commissions and panels and cooperation, collaboration amongst these various agencies, which they couldn't have before trying to track what's going on in the United States, as a matter of fact, we have one of the best here in New York City, NYPD's efforts. They have offices around the world tracking people coming in and out. And they don't get enough credit for every day preventing some of these things. So I'm hoping and praying that, and believing that DHS and the FBI and for that matter even some of the other agencies that have not been a part of this over the years are actively a part of trying to ensure that sleeper cell activity is kept to, is kept to, is kept to a zero.
Joey Jones
It's not just sleeper cells. It's the idea of lone wolves. Kayleen. That's, that's really why Republicans have sounded the alarm over the last year with these pro Palestinian rallies and some of the things that shared on TikTok. And then you have certain squad members coming and speaking and saying things that just throw fuel on the fire. I mean, it's one thing if Ron has put somebody here, it's another thing if some crazed idiot gets in their vehicle and drives down one of these streets.
Kayleigh McEnany
Yeah. Let me paint a picture for you. On the border, you know, President Biden, let's imagine him sitting in the beach chair in Delaware. Beachside foreign policy. Someone comes up to him, 20, 21, Mr. President, 48 Iranian nationals tried to cross the border. Next year they come to him in the beach chair. Now it's 197. Next year in the beach chair, now it's 462. Final year in the beach chair, 797. That should wake you up that you have gone from 48 Iranian nationals trying to cross to 797. And when Bill Milusian asked how many are on the terror watch list, the Biden administration cited privacy concerns and minimal public interest as to why Bill Malusian could not have that number. You should have been interested in that number. The public deserves that number. These are special interest aliens that get extra vetting when you come from Iran. But the beachside foreign policy got us 1500 trying to cross the border. To your point, half of them released into the interior of the United States.
Joey Jones
I will say one thing, as someone who has read in on some of these programs 15 years ago, what our men and women in law enforcement do every single day to keep us safe, to thwart plans that we never hear about without violating our privacy is really, it's quite amazing. All right ahead, Israel continues to pummel targets in Iran. The latest from the ground is next.
Dana Perino
As a person living with diabetes, you.
H

Israel and Iran continue to exchange fire with the IDF clothes, claiming that they struck access routes to Iran's Ford out nuclear site. Our friend and reporter who's doing an unbelievable job, Trey Yinks is standing by in Tel Aviv. Trey.
Jesse Watters
Harold.
Unnamed Speaker
Good afternoon. We know the Israelis are continuing tonight their strikes against Iranian targets. They issued an evacuation warning earlier around the capital of Tehran, warning people to get out of the way, understanding that this is going to continue following those strikes earlier today targeting an American base outside of Doha, Qatar. A little bit in the back and forth leading up to this. This morning, an alert went out from the US Embassy in Doha warning American citizens to shelter in place. Then we saw some GPS jamming followed by the closure of Qatari airspace. President Trump indicated all of this was coordinated in advance to ensure that after the attack took place, there would be some level of de escalation across the region. But for the Israelis, they have to remain on high alert. Officials tonight say air defense systems across this country are active. Earlier today, we saw a ballistic missile attack that targeted not only a residential area in the north of Israel, but also went after energy infrastructure in the south. And that's part of the reason the Israelis are going after many of the launching positions inside of Iran, to ensure that they can reduce the amount of missiles that can target this country. Because while there is a path for de escalation between Iran and the United States, there's an understanding that the war between Iran and Israel could last for a number of days ahead, if not weeks. Officials tonight held a meeting in the Israeli security cabinet trying to determine the steps forward. And again, President Trump calling for the entire region to seek some sort of peace arrangement, urging the Iranians to return to the negotiating table.
Harold Ford Jr.
Harris, Trey, again, thank you. You're doing an unbelievable job. One More thing is up next. We're not going to do this. We're going to have. We're going to have.
Jesse Watters
What's that, Harris?
Harold Ford Jr.
One More Thing is up next.
Dana Perino
Made in a marriage. It's time now for One More Thing. Before I go, I want to say this. We all do. Kaley, thank you so much for being here for us. All the Time. This is her last five before she gives birth to a beautiful baby girl. So we have a few cupcakes. You can have all the cupcakes.
Kayleigh McEnany
Every pregnant woman's dream to have a cupcake.
Dana Perino
Exactly. Yes.
Kayleigh McEnany
I'm eating all of these. Sorry, Blake.
Dana Perino
We look forward to meeting this little one. And you're a beautiful mother. And thank you so much.
Harold Ford Jr.
So sweet.
Kayleigh McEnany
Thank you guys so much.
Dana Perino
I'll go quickly. There were canines that were catching waves at Huntington beach for the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog challenge in California. They range in age from 2 to 13 years old. Had 10 minutes to wow the judges. The top dogs are cruising onto the national championships that will be in St. Louis, Missouri and the podcast today, Perino on politics with Mary Katherine Ham.
Jesse Watters
Jesse, do you want to look good on the Fourth of July?
Harold Ford Jr.
Yes.
Jesse Watters
Not just, I mean, really good on the 4th of July. We have you covered. We got a proud American collection at the Fox shop.

Jesse Watters
This shirt is flying off the shelf.
Kayleigh McEnany
Take the hat, hit the hat.
Dana Perino
I got the hat.
Jesse Watters
All right. It's the fan favorite Hawaiian shirt. Look at that, how good that looks. Look at that. Watching the fireworks. Drinking from your stomach to walk around.
Harold Ford Jr.
With a gallon of milk. Fourth of July, we've got you.
Jesse Watters
Gallon of milk. Gallon of something, Harold. Thank you. Tonight, Jesse Waters, prime time. We got continuing coverage of Iran. Eight o' clock.
Dana Perino
All right, Joey.
Joey Jones
Yeah. So a lot of you know, I just released a book on Tuesday called Behind the Badge. It's a passion project for me. Everyone in this book, somebody I know, including people that are really close to me and in my family, if anything else, just know this, that every single day they go out and do this job. And we live in this country with a sense of entitlement because if we get in a car wreck or our house burns down or we have a medical emergency, we. We just believe somebody will be there. These are non stories of individuals who have made it their career to be there.
Dana Perino
So you know all of them?
Joey Jones
I know all of them.
Dana Perino
And you had a chance to talk to them. Did you know their stories before you interviewed them or did you learn things that were new?
Joey Jones
Yes, absolutely. A guy I've known since I was three years old was in there and I learned a lot about him and my brother in law was in there. Best friends. It was really a journey for me. It really was.
Dana Perino
Well, we love having you here and congratulations on the book. It's very, very good. And Harold, you're next.
Harold Ford Jr.
Democrats.
Dana Perino
You got a big head.
Harold Ford Jr.
Whatever I do, whatever you do, do not defund the police. Thank you for doing this book, brother. I look forward to winning it.
Dana Perino
There we go. There we go.
Harold Ford Jr.
Congratulations to the Oklahoma City Thunder. They won their first championship since moving from Seattle in 2008, holding off the Pacers, 103 to 91. Pacers played one heck of a series. They lost one of their star players, Tyrese Halliburton, in the seventh game. But you can't take anything away from this OKC team. Shay Gillis Alexander capped off an historic season, becoming the first player since Shaquille O' Neal in 2000 to win the season MVP, scoring champ and finals MVP. He and his young team showed a lot of grit.
Dana Perino
Congrats to him and congrats to and Kaylee.
Kayleigh McEnany
Yes. My father in law wears hats like this, so this is for you, Paul. All right. The Capybara Cafe. First there was goat yoga, then there was the Capybara Cafe. This is in St. Augustine, Florida. I grew up going St. Augustine, you can feed, cuddle, or pet the world's largest rodents. The owner, Stephanie angel, opened the cafe.
Joey Jones
They're awesome.
Kayleigh McEnany
It's to support a good cause, Noah's Ark Sanctuary, a non profit wildlife rescue center. But look, yeah, pet rodents while you eat.
Dana Perino
And there are also these Fox News slides.
Joey Jones
Put the slides on there.
Jesse Watters
They're real comfortable.
Harold Ford Jr.
They don't hurt your feet at all.
Joey Jones
And I'll get one solid step in them before it's completely out.
Dana Perino
I'm amazing. You are amazing.

Podcast Summary: "Trump: Iran Retaliation A 'Very Weak Response'" – The Five, FOX News Radio
Release Date: June 23, 2025
Host/Authors: Dana Perino, Kayleigh McEnany, Harold Ford Jr., Jesse Watters, Joey Jones
At the outset of the episode, Dana Perino sets the stage by addressing the recent escalation between the United States and Iran. Following Iran's deployment of a missile barrage targeting a US base in Qatar, President Trump labeled the retaliation as a "very weak response" that the administration had anticipated and effectively countered. Perino introduces the panel and highlights the key developments:
Dana Perino [00:04]: "...Trump called it a quote, very weak response which we expected and have very effectively countered."
Jennifer Griffin, reporting from the Pentagon, provides a comprehensive update on the missile attack:
Jennifer Griffin [00:58]: "...the Iranians fired at least 14 missiles... All but one of the missiles were intercepted by air defenses inside Qatar."
She also mentions potential Israeli involvement and the uncertainty surrounding Iran's next moves.
Joey Jones reflects on the readiness of the US military forces:
Joey Jones [03:08]: "...the men and women on these bases, they're football players that just saw the clock go zero for the game to start. They don't want war, but they're ready for it."
He emphasizes the soldiers' preparedness to respond effectively, highlighting a text from an army special operator affirming their readiness.
Harold Ford Jr. concurs, praising the military's capabilities and the administration's strategic planning:
Harold Ford Jr. [06:59]: "...the President himself orchestrating from all press reports an unbelievable deception within deception was nothing short of astonishing."
He raises concerns about whether the US is aiming for regime change or simply seeking to neutralize Iran's nuclear capabilities.
Jesse Watters analyzes the strikes as a strategic move to set back Iran's nuclear program without triggering broader conflict:
Jesse Watters [04:03]: "This is a best case scenario... deterrence is back because you know, Joe Biden. Don't, don't."
He commends the precision and secrecy of the operation, suggesting it enhances the US's negotiating leverage.
Kayleigh McEnany discusses the broader geopolitical implications, particularly Iran's isolation after the strikes:
Kayleigh McEnany [08:56]: "...China, one thing they care most about is China. They don't care about Iran and China."
She underscores the global condemnation Iran faces and posits that the strikes may lead to Middle East peace accords rather than further conflict.
The conversation shifts to the Democratic Party's reaction to the strikes, notably AOC's calls for impeachment:
Kayleigh McEnany [19:14]: "...AOC with this hot take... it is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment."
Jesse Watters criticizes Democrats for hypocrisy, comparing their reactions to similar actions taken by previous administrations:
Jesse Watters [19:33]: "Obama and Biden launched thousands of missile strikes against Syria, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq. No Democrat ever called for congressional authorizations."
Harold Ford Jr. defends the administration's actions and highlights the bipartisan support for preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons:
Harold Ford Jr. [24:07]: "I think the president was right in what he did. He was constitutionally correct in what he did."
The panel addresses potential retaliatory threats from Iran, including cyber attacks and sleeper cells within the US:
Jesse Watters [12:36]: "Their entire economy runs through the Strait of Hormuz... It's economic suicide for them if they do it."
Joey Jones raises alarms about Iranian sleeper cells and border security, linking it to increased illegal crossings by Iranian nationals:
Joey Jones [27:38]: "...over 1500 Iranians crossing illegally since 2021, with nearly half released into US cities."
Dana Perino reassures listeners about enhanced intelligence and law enforcement collaboration post-9/11:
Dana Perino [28:18]: "...we have joint terrorism task forces... local law enforcement in the same room with Department of Homeland Security and the FBI."
The episode concludes with a brief mention of ongoing Israeli strikes against Iranian targets and the panel's reaffirmation of the administration's stance on maintaining peace and security. Dana Perino wraps up by acknowledging the collaborative efforts of the team and setting the stage for future developments.
Summary: In this episode of The Five, the panel meticulously dissects the recent conflict between the US and Iran, emphasizing President Trump's strategic response to Iran's missile attacks on a US base in Qatar. The discussion highlights the effectiveness of US air defenses, the precision of the retaliatory strikes against Iranian nuclear sites, and the broader geopolitical implications, including Iran's isolation and potential shifts towards Middle East peace accords. The panelists also critically address Democratic criticisms, particularly regarding impeachment calls, while stressing the importance of military preparedness and enhanced domestic security measures to counter potential Iranian threats. Overall, the episode presents a comprehensive analysis of the situation, underscoring the administration's commitment to national security and strategic dominance.
