Friends, for all of you watching, the only people that are not excited about change is fucking losers. Like real talk, it's the only reason you would not be excited about change is cause you're insecure and you think you're gonna get beat. It's cause you're lazy. It's because you've already made it and you just wanna sit on your throne and you don't want stuff to change. My friends, it's a fucking jungle out there. And cause just cause you were a lion, when you're an old lion. Do you know what happens to old lions in the jungle? They get beat.
B
What do you feel like is next? What's next?
A
You think autotune fucks shit up, right? AI? Like I'm gonna have the biggest rap album in the world because you guys know this. I spit bars, but not in musical rhythm. All right? Right, right. Hey, man. But I'm gonna spit my barbs into AI and be like, turn this into a mix between Future and Biggie Rhythm with Turbo and Metro beats and make me 15. I think shit's coming. The music industry, the film industry, actors, everything's getting. It's getting. It's gonna get crazy out there.
B
Ready to get with it or get lost.
A
Either you're scared or you're happy. This is the GaryVee audio experience. What's up, everybody? I'm here with the Legend, Rich the Kid. What's good, everybody? My man. Tell him a little bit about the music for everybody who's watching. Who's been lost in outer space and hasn't been spending any time in the culture. Tell them who you are and what you're up to.
B
What's up? It's Rich the Kid. I'm here with the Legend himself.
A
You know, we know. You have no idea. It's been at least 10 years, right, boy? Yeah, 13, bro. That's crazy.
B
Yeah, bro, we've been, you know, locked in with twin.
A
Right. Facts. Go ahead. So what have you been up to, man?
B
I've been working on my project. An album that's a universal album. Instead of making it a traditional hip hop album.
A
Right. Or just Atlanta. Or just New York and Atlanta. It's got the Latin inspired, it's got the Africa inspired. It's that real mix of everything that's popping collectively in culture with your spin on it.
B
Exactly.
A
So how long have you been working on it?
B
Like two years. Two years. And I think I didn't even think to do it. It's just like working as I was working in my relationships. That I was building in the meantime. Just like I'm working with so many of these people, I might as well make it exactly like that, you know, 100%. I feel like I'm the first to do something like this, you know?
A
Well, listen, I mean, you're often again, you know this. None of us. Cause we're born at this time, are the first to do anything, but a lot of us are the first to put certain things together.
B
Yeah.
A
And I think that you've always curated. What about on your entrepreneurial kick? I think the other thing about you that I've always fucked with is you've obviously been very integrated into music. But I always felt like, oh, the reason I like this kid. Even thinking back to the first time, I mean, we even talked on, you know what's crazy, maybe 13 since we like physically hung out the first time. But we were DMing, you and I, two years before we even met in person.
B
He was on the phone with his.
A
Mom in the elevator.
B
I've met his mom.
A
You know what I mean? Like, it's family rich. What about in your other entrepreneurial? Like, what about from the clothing and the startup? Because, you know, through the years you'll hit me up about random left field shit. I'm like, this kid's an entrepreneur. Yes, you're an entertainer. Yes, you're a cultural beast. Yes, you're obviously into music the way you are, but what else has been going on or things you've been paying attention to? Hey, everybody, hope you're enjoying the podcast right now. Make sure you follow the podcast. That's why I'm interrupting. Let's keep going on this show, but follow the podcast. It'll make my mom super happy.
B
So I'm about to launch my skateboard brand. It's a clothing brand. It's called Snake Pit.
A
Snake Pit.
B
Is this the hat? Oh, yeah, I got the hat on.
A
I think when you said Snakeman, like that might be the logo. Okay.
B
Yeah, I got the Snake Pit coming out probably around the same time as my album. I connected with. I'm not sure if you've seen the kids on the car, the Manzari. So I connected with Mensory and Crusoe out in Dubai. So they hooked me up with the first Mensory truck G wagon. So I've been pushing that out and just like everything else, everybody just catches.
A
How much are you traveling?
B
I'm traveling a lot actually, man. I've been la, New York, Atlanta. I just signed two new artists from Atlanta. So I've Been spending a lot more time in Atlanta.
A
And has that been a big focus for you, continuing signing artists?
B
Yeah, for sure. For sure. I feel like right now some of the industry is kind of like, doesn't know what to do. You know what I'm saying?
A
Well, so, you know, to your point, in the years that you've been in the business, right from when you were literally the kid and now you're signing kids, where they look at. Has that been weird for you? Like, them looking at you as the og? Yeah, right. I went through that shit, too, when you guys all came along. And when the first kid, like, 10 years ago said, yeah, I love you, Unk, and I'm like, fuck, I'm uncle. You know what I mean? You sound Uncle, Ray, man. When that happened, I was like, God damn, that was like 10 years. I'm about to be grandpa the way this shit's going. But for you, like, you know why they're confused? Because the game has changed.
B
Changed, right?
A
Like, it was five minutes ago where, like, me and Mike Boyd, if Walsh wasn't here yet, but if he was, we would have been, like. We would have said freshman 15, 3,000 times a year. We haven't said it in two years. Right. You know this when I was yelling for all you artists to get real about TikTok to get, you know, that was obvious. But now we're in this inflection point where everyone knows everyone's doing the same stuff.
B
Facts.
A
It's always been hard to be creatively different. You know that. The kids that inspired you, the kids you inspired, there was that difference. And now it's just like. I agree. I think it's a very interesting time in music where now Atlanta's at its maturity of an empire. Right? Atlanta, when I was a kid, was on its come up. It was only New York and la. But, like, when outcast, like, really outcast. Like, we knew. I mean, I had a friend who was, you know, Moose love, Bumpy and fucking ghetto boys. Like, I actually was a little more exposed to the south than most. There was no Internet, so it was like bootleg tapes, but back. Like, since I've known Boyd. Since I've known Boyd, forget about you. Which was when you did the Soulja boy thing with AJ. What was your freshman year of college? 2005. Right. Since 2005, you kind of knew what was happening. Atlanta was really coming. MySpace was really happening. Social media was really coming. And it was easy to be, by the way. I'm actually giving the description of why I reached Out. I reached out to you first.
B
Yeah.
A
I saw you and I was like this fucking kid, right?
B
Yeah.
A
Because it was. Let's just call what it is, south culture, you could call it. Let's just call Atlanta. Atlanta plus new Internet. What we know right now is new Internet is streaming. We know that. We know that the streaming kids are the ones that are winning. Right. Twitch Kick, Right. All that. So we know that. Fine. And another kid who naturally has it in him, six, nine. That's why he's always relevant. Right. He's doing that right now. He's playing that game with a lot of the streamers. But on the actual art side it's a little blurry because now Atlanta's mature, you know, and it's like locked in. So like that's why, by the way, that's why. Latin trap, reggaeton, Africa and like. But still in America, like what is it gonna be? Is like really interesting.
B
Yeah.
A
Where's it gonna come from? Uh huh. We're in that mode. We're in that moment, you know? I don't know. It's interesting. It's fucking interesting.
B
But I feel like I'm excited. You know what I'm saying? I'm excited.
A
Well. Cause you're a creative and you're a builder. The only friends for all of you watching, the only people that are not excited about change are. Is fucking losers.
B
Yeah.
A
People that are scared. Like real talk. The only reason you would not be excited about change is cause you're insecure and you think you're gonna get beat. It's cause you're lazy. It's because you've already made it and you just wanna sit on your throne and you don't want stuff to change. My friends, it's a fucking jungle out there. And cause just cause you were a lion. When you're an old lion, do you know what happens to old lions in the jungle? They get beat. So you know. Yeah, I know why you're excited. You and I are similar.
B
Yeah.
A
We thrive when shit is confusing because we can figure it out. You know? I know why you're excited. I know why you're popping up again now. It's a time of confusion, a time of opportunity. This is when we just got. We didn't do shit. Our parents had sex at the right second and gave us the intuition gene. And we just know you can walk into any room and see one kid and be like him. Right?
B
Yeah.
A
Now what we don't know when we meet those kids is will they work hard enough when they make it. Is the money and the girls gonna fuck them up? We don't know. But we know they have the potential.
B
Exactly.
A
And that's what we're looking for. Whether it's people, businesses, ideas, music. Right. Fashion, artists. All the same shit.
B
100%.
A
How long you in New York?
B
I'm here probably till Tuesday.
A
Good. Real quick. A real setup. Because on Tik, look how crazy TikTok Live is. Look at this. Look what goes on in the bottom. Every second. People are joining, so you gotta keep updating them, like, every second. Real quick. Rich, tell everybody who you are and what you're up to and how they find you.
B
Yo, Rich, the kid. Rich, the kid, Everything. Rich the kid. Everywhere you can find me.
A
And it's the DA Not T H.
B
A T H E.
A
Final thoughts. Cause I gotta get to my next meeting. What can I answer for you? What do you want people to know? What's been going down?
B
What do you feel like is next? What's next?
A
So here's my lay of the land where you can kill it. First and foremost, live shopping. Have you seen this yet? Live shopping on, like, exactly what? Not in TikTok. Literally. Social media, like, literally, like, literally selling in your feed. Like, people just selling shit. Like qvc. Remember QVC when you were a kid? In your feed, he sell. This kid's selling right now live. Look what he's selling. Some motor oil or some shit. He's selling Pokemon. He's selling. Is it me and you? We're live. That was literally us. Like, literally in my feed, it's us. Like people just selling shit. So. So, like, that is next. Live streaming is going to keep getting bigger. The Adin Ross, the Kai Sada, you know this, like, that's gonna keep going big. Those two things are massive. People that figure out AI, like making AI content. Like right now, you know what it is right now in music, everyone's like, fuck, AI is bullshit. Cause people are scared. Because I me in 20, you think auto tune fucks shit up, right? AI. Like, I'm gonna have the biggest rap album in the world. Because you guys know this. I spit bars, but not in musical rhythm. Right? Right. But I'm gonna spit my barbs into AI and be like, turn this into a mix between Future and Biggie Rhythm with Turbo and Metro beats and make me 15 songs go. And I'm gonna put it out and I'm gonna have the biggest album in the world. And everybody in music can be like. A lot of people fuck with me. So they're like, If I was nobody, they knew and they didn't know. I gave a lot of love, but I still get it. Everyone's gonna be like, we love you, Gary Vee, but this is fucked up. This is taken out of the music artist's pocket, and I'm gonna be like, well, it's fucked up that you took money out of the people that were on mtv. You put MTV out of business.
B
Yeah, Facts, you fuckers.
A
Put MTV out of business. This motherfucker's walking on the street being like, hey, what do you do? And interviewing and interviewing rappers that used to only be on mtv. He so. So why can't, like, rap put rock and roll out of business? Yeah. So why the. Can't someone that's spitting knowledge. So I think shit's coming. The music industry, the film industry, actors, everything's getting. It's. It's getting. It's gonna get crazy out there.
B
Better get away to get lost.
A
Either you're scared or you're happy.
B
Yeah.
A
My man. I love you. Good to see you, bro. Good to see you. Let's get a quick photo.
B
Let's do it.
A
Commemorate.
B
Here, Go to my phone, too. Wipe my camera off.
A
Somebody said, what's your best advice for a young dude that stop being scared. Everything's an opportunity. Everything's an opportunity. That was rich. The kid, real cultural savant. The kid's been in the game. Atlanta culture from the chat. Any advice for a new takeout restaurant with a food truck as well? Give me one second. Takeout restaurant, food truck. Listen to me, everybody. I know you're tired of me hearing me saying the same shit, but it's really important. It is social media content. Jack Shout out to Mount Ida is right. It is social media content, my friends. It is social media content. I want you all to go live more. I want you to all make content more. I want you to all learn AI more. I want you to do all these things. I think of me as a health and fitness coach, not a business guru. I'm telling you all the right stuff. Here's the right form to do the lifting. Here's the right food to put in your body. Why all of you are not winning right now is not information. It's lack of discipline. Why you have lack of discipline is why I talk so much about mindset. You lack discipline because of behaviors. Mindset. All those things. These are the things on my mind. Nobody who has a restaurant or a food truck is confused that there have been restaurants and food trucks that have exploded because of social media. Content. Can anyone possibly say that? Is anyone here confused and not aware that social media content has helped food trucks and restaurants do well? It's. You know what I mean, Naraya. Yes. There are details. You know, this, this is what we spend our time. You, me and Raghav the Train Cordy. We spend our time at being great at it. We're committed to social media content. I pay all four of you money like real talk. But what we're going through and we're going through it actively right now, we're refining to be better at it. It's kind of like me in basketball because I'm looking at court because we play a lot together. Finally, I'm rehabbing my left glute. I can start. I'm starting to go to the left a little more. It's going to bring more to my game. I practice more, get my handle better by chopping up. You're better. You just want to keep getting better. We as people, one of the other cool things of working me is you become a better person because we start becoming more accountable. The second you stop blaming everyone, it's on Friends, it's on. The second you stop blaming everyone, it's on. I always read the chat still high. I'm reading the chat right now, but I'm trying to make this point. Garyvee. I made millions because of you. That's amazing. Gary. I went live on TikTok inspired by you started ebay. Let's go. Silly deals. Mike. Yes. Oh, this you need. So I haven't tasted the season yet. I so apologize. I've literally not been home. I just need all of you to understand everything comes down to discipline. Most of our strategies are just okay. Like I do well because I have slightly better strategies more often and I'm wildly disciplined professionally. But I'm 15 pounds heavier and 10 pounds lighter in muscle than I want to look like physically because I'm not disciplined in health and wellness. But I'm telling you, the way you guys can get really good and really happy is eliminating blaming. Blaming doesn't mean that the other person wasn't wrong. Right? Right. I'll give you an example. You got fired for. You got fired, but it was for a computer breaking in the company. But you didn't do it. But your boss believed the person that did break it because they liked them more. Right. I think we can all agree, let's all agree that that is, you have been wildly wronged. Do we all agree? Court train? Naraya does everybody agree that if you get fired for a $10,000 computer, breaking in the office that somebody else said it was you and you said it was them and they believed them, but it was actually them. Do we all agree that you've been wrong? Yes. Everything I talk about is what happens the next day. My belief is that most people on earth spend an ungodly amount of time and energy being fucked up by that. You could believe me. You could not believe me. You have no idea how the next morning at 9am, if that happened to me, I'm just on to looking for another job, spending zero time on Carl and Sally who fucked me. You can believe me or not. You can believe me or not. But I'm telling you. Thank you. That's good, Gluxton. Go do it. Forgiving and moving forward. Understanding and moving forward. Sympathizing and moving forward. Deploying empathy and moving forward. Why did this person in the middle of the street just punch me in the face out of nowhere and assaulted me? My brain. Something very bad is going on in that person. Move on. I don't need to, like, spend my. Do you know any of you fuckers spend your life trying to get revenge? What's the matter with you? You guys excited about settling the score? Ooh. You guys really, like, you're gonna settle the score? Man, you guys have it twisted, you have it wrong, you have it mixed up, you have it upside down, and you control nobody but yourself. Nora, you know how many people are trying to win the debate? Do you know why everyone's miserable right now? They're trying to win the argument around politics. Do you know why I'm happy? I have no interest in even engaging in the argument around politics. Wait, so you think, like, it's a good use of my time to try to convince you to see the world exactly like I see it? Do you think I have the audacity to think that every person on earth should see every issue the same exact way? As I see it, Everybody's sitting on some moral compass, like they care about stuff. Meanwhile, every day they do shit that's worse. That's a fucking bar. People fucking talking about. People arguing about other people getting wronged while they are doing things that are more wrong on a daily basis. People literally talking about God and beating their kids.
B
Yeah.
A
That's where I'm at, everyone. That's what I'm thinking about. Any advice for a single mom in the chat? Any advice for a single mom with no direction? Yeah, I mean, look, single mom. Single parenting is such a challenge because it weighs on you. But again, this goes into the. I think a lot of single moms court struggle because they're still so hung up on how they became a single mom. It's friends. This is an energy game. Like, I just know so many single moms. I flew with one of them yesterday and talked to her like. And I'm like, every ounce of energy you put. Can you guys fix the messages? Every ounce of energy you put on being mad at your former husband to why you're a single mom is not putting energy to thrive for your children or yourself. Signature sports. Thank you for being in the shopping cart. Thank you all for being here. So, you know, my advice for a single mom is to forget yesterday and focus on passions and skills. Friends. Passion and skills. Passion and skills. Passion and skills. I'm good at selling, but then you try to sell something that you're not into, then you're not successful because you quit. You tried to do real estate because you thought there was a lot of money in it, but you're not into real estate. So even though you're good at selling, it doesn't work. Same frameworks. I got to go to a client thing. We'll see you next time. Everyone. Everybody. If you enjoyed this podcast, please go back and look at the prior episodes. They're loaded. I appreciate your attention, and thanks for being part of this journey. See you later.
