How do you feel about livestreaming as a Realtor?

I like it. I think that there is a real opportunity.

How did you save up for your first business, Gary?

[Gary Vaynerchuk]

My baseball card business. I just sold some cards that I had around in my collection, made 100 bucks, you know, bought more cards, turned that 100 into 150, 150 into 300. So basically just flipping and selling stuff that was in my house, my early cards as a kid, as a base, in fact Sec 1 of the most interesting things that I think for everyone in this room right now is they don't realize that they have hundreds of. Some people have thousands. Some people on this chat right now have tens of thousands of dollars worth of stuff literally sitting in their home. Literally everybody in this room right now has clothes, old electronics, like just stuff that they don't use anymore. And if they use live shopping like this or if they go on ebay or on Facebook Marketplace or those things and start selling stuff, they can make some coin. That's what I did to start my world. And buying and selling is one of the great ways to build a universe. And so I think that a lot of people here are missing out on huge opportunities because they're not taking advantage of the buying and selling economy. And now live shopping is one of the biggest opportunities in the business world.

This is gonna be a 28 year old. I just turned 28 a couple weeks ago. So here we go.

Well, listen, there's different advices for different 28 year olds. Like I got married for the first time at 28.

Did you really?

[Gary Vaynerchuk]

Yeah, I got married the day before my 29th birthday. Young. Like I think that everybody. I can't answer that question. It's too generic. I need to know the specific nature.

What is my advice for a 28 year old?

[Gary Vaynerchuk]

The same advice I have for an 18 year old or an 81 year old which is fight for happiness at all cost. Fight for happiness at all cost. Like to me, that's the punchline for that.

I'm 53. Is it too late to be successful?

[Gary Vaynerchuk]

Of course not. You know Kentucky Fried Chicken, Grey Goose, these are companies that were started by people in their 60s and 70s. I think people are very silly when they think about age. I think age is one of the most misunderstood things in the world. I think so many of you lack patience. So many of you are looking for excuses why you can't so many people have bought into society's norms and bull crap. What future do you see for Pokemon cards? Playboy Able. I think the market is very frothy right now and I could see a correction and decline over the next 12 months. But I think long term Pokemon is the most significant IP in the world from a collectible standpoint. It has multiple generations of collectors. We've got all the 6 to 10 year olds that are into it now. You have a whole generation of 30 to 40 year olds that are obsessed and grew up with it. You've got people in their late 40s, early 50s like myself that are obsessed with it from a value long term standpoint. So I think Pokemon sitting really pretty. I can't predict the very short term, but I think long term Pokemon is this generation's Disney with a collectible kind of universe. By the way, this is Vegas Hawaii.

Through them learning how to become vibe coders and coming out with apps or products and services digitally based on their vibe coding. And that is game changing. Absolutely game changing. There's never been a better time to be a person.

I need to know how long and how many pieces of content they might just not be making good content that compels somebody or enough content. That's correct. I mean, enough is always the issue. Like nobody's putting in enough reps. People treat businesses and things like TikTok affiliate like this. Hey, Gary, I ate well for a week and I went to the gym for five days this week. Why am I not fucking an Adonis? I don't know, dick face. Because you're supposed to do it for five years before you start seeing like meaningful crazy results. Unless you're juicing and shit, you know. And so like people are just not putting in the discipline, the amount of work.

I'm bullish.

The real world as digital keeps advancing as we go into AI AI robots who doom scrolling brain rot, like loneliness. I'm just obsessed with the outside. What happened during COVID We were all inside and everybody got super into their outside, right? Yep.

Well, now we're going more and more.

Inside without a Covid. We're just inside. We're just lonely. And that's great. And I think digital is a gateway drug to real life. Gary, how many times do you actually post a day? Still does it flow?

Instagram gets two a day. TikTok, we probably get 15 to 25 pieces of content out a day. But I had a big meeting today with team Gary and I said for the last three or four years, my personal brand, we've been playing at a CD level and we're going back to a just like everything this is the year of I and I. It's all about I and I. This is gonna be my symbol. This is all I'm gonna do. I and I, intentionality and impact. I think I'm gonna have a huge year. Substack. A lot of you should check me out there. I think a lot of you are better at the long form written game than you are at the video game. And right now, Substack's crushing. People are paying subscription fees for great writers who write fiction, nonfiction, insights. It's an incredible opportunity for good writers and anybody who thinks they're a good writer and want. Basically, it's what blogging was a long time ago, but far more integrated. It's a little bit more Twitter meets newsletters. And I would say besides OnlyFans, which has a whole different thing going on over there, it's the one place where someone can really monetize their content. And instead of tits and ass, it's more about like long form written, hardcore valuable content. And I think for a lot of you, if you don't know what Substack is, you should go and check it out. Go put into ChatGPT or Gemini or Perplexity. What is Substack? How do I use it? How many people in this chat, how many of you of the 700 in here think you're a good writer?

I think AI I just literally had a dinner meeting where someone showed me an AI movie trailer that literally looked like fucking 300. All prompted, like, yes, I'm aware that actors and showrunners, but things happen. I think AI content is gonna be massive. But I also love real human content.

Broadway is still a monster, while feature films like Avatar crush. Avatar crushes, Book of Mormons crush. AI content is gonna crush no matter how much you poo poo it on some theoretical bullshit. Six years. When I was like, uh huh. I also stopped making content from 2011-14 to build Vayner. I stopped doing wine library TV. I was posting on Twitter every day. So that's not fair. But I was more replying on Twitter. I was more of a reply on Twitter. One of the biggest opportunities for everyone on this stream is, is replying to the comments and DMs they get, even if it's 10 people. When I used to get seven replies on Twitter by replying to those seven people, the next post got eight. So many people here are so selfish. They just want the views. They're not willing to put in the work for the small community they have.

What was the smartest broke decision you ever made?

That's a great question. Broke is relative. I had worked 13 years, 150 hours plus for my father and never got paid a lot of money, never owned wine library. I didn't inherit wine library. My parents didn't give me a liquor store. I worked my dick off for 150 hours a week from child labor 14 to 34, building a big business for my father that he to this day, owns 100% of. But when I was making 50, 60, $70,000 a year. I was saving. I was living in a shit apartment. I like just did nothing. No $12 fucking margaritas. No going to like. I didn't spend a dollar, just saved. And the best broke decision I ever made was after all that time at 32 years old, I had $250,000 to my name and savings. And I took 200,000 of it. And I bet it on Facebook. I bought Facebook stock. That's Facebook stock certificates. All right, you can put it back. And I bet my life's fortune, which was small and measly compared to the hours and impact that I had created. And I bet the farm. And it was right.

Yes. I know every time I make big decisions that it's right.

Have you ever made a big decision and was wrong?

Not really. I mean, like maybe by other people's standards. So I called my mom when I was 20. This is a story you guys might not know. I called my mother when I was in college. Bawling, bawling, mom, I think I can do it. I think I'm gonna be a great businessman. I don't think I wanna go into the family business. I feel like it's gonna take a lot of time and everyone's gonna think that it wasn't me. Like I crying, bawling and you know, a couple years later, when I was done with college, I decided to go into the family business. And if anybody knew my real life, almost all of you would say me working at wine library and building wine library for my dad was the worst decision I've ever made. Like, if you really knew me financially, emotionally, if you knew me, knew me, if you knew everything about me, if you went into my body where you watched my whole life, you would say, it's the worst decision I've ever made. And I will tell you it's the best decision I ever made because I will never regret that level of time with my father. Even though everything else was wrong, he emotionally drained me. I was full time therapist. I got so fucked financially, it's not even funny. And it's still the best thing.

What did your mom say to you when you called, if you could share?

[Gary Vaynerchuk]

I don't remember, to be honest. My mom, you know, it's one of those. You remember how you feel like my mom supported me and was, you know, I don't remember. Truth is, honestly, if I had to bet, I did. I think she did. I don't think she did the thing you think, which would be like, I'm good if you go do your. Go do your own thing. I actually think she was like, no, no, no. Like, dad's a mess.

By being authentic, you need to have best practices. A good thumbnail, a good, you know, a good first 3 seconds hook. But you know this court. You really know this. You're now starting to be in my team. Like, you see, I want to put the 40 minute AI video out. I know that's not going to do as well. 42 minute posts on Instagram are not going to do as well. But we still put a little hook at the top and a good thumbnail to do better. But I was okay with getting less views, you know, so never compromise.

That's just what I see all day in the ecosystem right now. People playing entrepreneur make pretend because they think it's cool. Supposedly I'm gonna naturally do all the right stuff in six to 12 months and my whole life. But I can already feel it about eight to 12 weeks in. So running was a struggle. Cause I couldn't run because without a glute mead, everything else is breaking down and I just couldn't do it.

So I love it for information and consumer insights and things of that nature. But I personally in general worry about gambling culture including collectibles, like buying collectible and speculation, especially when you want a short term outcome, I think is a bad idea.
