Power of no is something that I've struggled with. In fact, over the weekend I told AJ that Michael Rubin from Fanatics said something twice now. One in a one on one meeting, one in a group thing I was in last week where he has the same problem that I have, which is even if 13 different ideas are all right collectively, they're wrong because you're just stretching a little too thin. And I talk a lot about happiness versus success financially. So for me the power of no is very important. Most of you have a problem saying yes, I have a problem saying no. Most of you should be saying yes to more things. I'm so addicted to the concept of maybe serendipity code karma that I say yes to a lot of things. There's some stuff on my schedule today that I looked at over the weekend that should be no's. With this last full week before the holidays, I need to accomplish a whole lot of things. So for a lot of you that are more like me, yes men and women, the power of no is more effectiveness, more efficiency, not getting sidetracked, being able to double down on your most important things. I think a lot of people struggle with ironically saying yes to more things. You think you're busier than you are, you're fearful of wasting time. And I think I'm a little bit on the other side and I need to get a little bit better at no. And I would say this year I got better at it. I'm trying to get even stronger at it, but finding the balance between yes and no. Actually, everybody who's in the chat right now, all 700 of you, let's get the shares going right now. But I have a question for all 700 of you right now. How many of you feel like you're saying yes to too many things? And how many of you feel like you're saying no to too many things? Say yes or no. Nice little mix of both. Yeah. I think all of us are trying to find that middle. You know, all of us are trying to find that middle. But I think a lot of you are scared to fail and not enough yeses. And then I think a lot of you are just a little more creative, a little more skelter like I am, and need to find the power. No. The answer to your question directly is the power of no allows you to be more effective and efficient on the things you've already said yes to before you say yes to another thing. That's a really good question, Wayne. Wayne, this is just called being a grownup and eating crap for the betterment of your family. I think this is a real grown adult process a lot of us have gone through. There have been many times through my life, especially my life, where I've been really the financial driver for many everybody around me. It's called living life. You know, like our pain tolerance is a direct correlation sometimes to the life we live. I mean, there's so many of us right now that are providing, and you're providing emotionally, you're providing financially. And you know, what I would say is to make sure that you don't create a level of resentment. This is why I've become infatuated with. With people learning how to use this. I'm really happy that CryptoDaddy and Treyway100 just bought this. I hope it helps them. I think that the fact that all of us, if this was 1984 tea with Gary Vee, I'd say, Wayne, suck it up. You're a man. Literally. Because Wayne would have to work 9 to 6 and there'd be no really real way without Wayne taking a high risk of quitting and trying to get another job. For Wayne to set himself up. The fact that we live in a world right now where you can use social media content, LinkedIn especially to produce content or reach out to people via social to create your other job opportunity, that you don't need recruiters coming to you, you could be the recruiter for yourself is a real gift. This whole 6:00pm, you know, this whole 6:00pm or even if you want to eat dinner, be with the family, have a little leisure, call it this 9pm to 5 in the morning economy and obviously you need sleep. So five in the morning is a little bit of a hyperbole. But I would say for the people that are unhappy, like Wayne, who's providing for his family but he's unhappy that I would say that 9pm to midnight is one of the remarkable three hours in our society right now. I believe that 9pm to midnight is one of the most important three hours. I could argue, I could argue that 9pm to Midnight to midnight is one of the most important three hours, if not the most important three hours of the unhappy, unfulfilled, struggling concerned in our society right now. Because from 9pm to midnight, between LinkedIn and the other social networks, you can start creating the other opportunities for yourself to get out of the hole you're in. 9pm to midnight might be the most important three hour window in a 24 hour day for those who are frustrated, resentful, struggling, not fulfilled, unhappy. On the flip side, curious, determined, hopeful and ambitious. Because a lot of us have to do things 9 to 5, 9 to 6, 9 to 7. And a lot of us also worry about work, life, balance, some sort of, you know, reality of providing the emotional and time for our spouse, our partner, our girlfriend, our boyfriend, our husband, our wife, our son, our daughter, our parents. So fine, I'm giving you six to nine. But this 9pm to midnight is the three hour window to flip the switch and I highly recommend people get more serious about it. Thank you for picking up the book. You know, like, you know, like when people push back at me, like, you think I care. I care in general. But I don't know you. I don't know saps, Robo, I don't know everyone in here. It is very clear to me what's going on. If you hang out with negative people, cynical people, non hopeful people, non ambitious people, like that OG shit your great grandmother told you of, like you are, who you surround yourself with is true. And the problem is most of you surround yourself right now with social media and mainstream media content that is scaring you. Both sides of the political aisle are doing the same thing. Globally, both sides are doing the same thing. They're scaring you. Everyone's cynical, everyone's become super over coddled. So we're blaming. So you're scared and you're blaming. Do you know that there's actually kids that are Gen Z that actually blame boomers, like actually like, there's actually random 2734 year olds who are like, it's the 80 year old's fault. That's insanity.

doing enough by giving yourself grace, by realizing there's no such thing as work life balance? This morning I was actually thinking, I was like, you know, we're at that time. You know, I'm like, was 25 a good year? Like, do I feel good about it? Like, how do I feel like I did? Reality is, is like, there's no perfect year. Like, in hindsight sometimes, like, for example, I might in seven years look back at 25 me like, oh, that was a good year. Right? I started doing live. That can be one Right. You know, there's a lot of ways to think about it. I'm just in the business of loving myself. Like, real talk, but holding myself accountable and not being delusional. It's this really interesting balance of, like, I know I'm trying and that is enough. Like, I know I'm trying and that's enough. And I want all of you there. Like, if you're really trying and you're coming from a good place and you've got a balance of, like, trying to do right by you and your family, but also care about others. Like, even just how nice I am in public, like, opening a door or saying hi or smiling at people makes me feel very fulfilled. Makes me feel good about myself. Makes me feel like I'm trying to leave a positive deposit in a world that's passionate about doing the reverse. But I don't get delusional. Like, a lot of, like, you could, like, yourself, you can be nice, but laying on your couch all day and, like, watching porn and, like, you're probably not being productive. You could be, like, laying around and just gambling on poly market and, like, draftkings and fanatics betting and, like, that's probably not productive. You could be, like, laying on your couch and your mom is giving you money and you're just watching, like, Elf for the 15th time in the last two weeks. Like, that's probably not productive. So there's a level of like. Like, loving yourself, but. But also holding yourself accountable. I don't know why so many of you struggle with the balance of loving yourself, but holding yourself accountable. Because I feel like when people hear holding yourself accountable, they hear it in their mind of, like, shit on yourself for sucking. Like, when I talk about patience, people get all shook. Like, Gary Vee. I see the comments. You guys see it, right? This advice, isn't it like, you gotta go hard. Like, motherfucker, I'm going harder than you. There's no one who's left a comment that says, gary's wrong. You have to go hard has gone harder than me. I. I feel it. Not one person, but I think people are struggling with the balance. So how do I answer this person? Very easily. And by the way, yesterday is over. If yesterday you sucked, if yesterday was a bad day, if yesterday you were like, I blew this whole year. I blew my whole life. It really doesn't matter. Today's always day one. Today's day one, y'. All. 9pm to midnight. You could do both. I don't understand how people don't realize you can do both. You can work nine to five and then you can work in the evening. Now first of all, your girlfriend since you were 18 and now you're 22. You guys are young. I know that's how they did it in the old days and you might be immigrant life and that's how you still do it. I get it. But I would just say outside pressure is always wrong. You can't live your life based on what your girlfriend, fiance, future wife wants you to do. Even if you love her more than breathing itself. Because there will be resentment that builds from that. I'm about to drop a bomb this morning. Many of you that are people pleasers must protect yourself from resenting those that you're pleasing and then blaming them for it. I'm going to say that again. Many of you that are people pleasers must protect yourself from resenting those that you're doing the people pleasing for, only to then blame them for it when you decided to do it. This has been a vulnerability of mine through my life's journey. You are deciding to please someone else. Your mom, your dad, your husband, your wife, your boyfriend, your girlfriend, your child. You've decided to please someone else and not from a place of insecurity. You just have a lot of warmth in your heart. I don't. People please. Cause I want you to like me. I actually don't give a fuck if any of you like me. I like to people please because I'm in a good place and I like fulfills me. Yeah, I get it J Chat. But it's really, really important. You know, like you're absolutely right. That's what so many people can get caught on. Like I'm telling all of you, you have to be very careful and this is why we're talking about it. I like you too. The man. I need all of you to understand this. You can't blame others when you people please and then you resent them. You must be accountable. You Must be accountable. That's it. Accountability matters. A lot of you have to check yourselves. We need more humility, more self awareness. I really hope this helps someone this morning. David asks. My girlfriend and I have totally changed our lives in the last three years. We hardly drink, don't take drugs, just bought a house and had a baby. Recently, we feel like all the friends we accumulated being young and crazy are dwindling as we're living a better life. But we haven't yet found our new like minded friends. Is it still worth trying to make an Effort with our old friends, even though it seems like we have less and less in common.

You know, friendship comes in different levels. I think we can all agree with that. Right, Everybody? You all agree, like, right? You have, like, super deep friends that feel like direct family. Then there's the next tier underneath that. They don't feel like family, but they're, like, really good friends. It's awesome. It's light, it's good. Then there's that next tier of, like, it's kind of in the middle. Then there's one lower that I would call is borderline acquaintance and service level. But you're always thrilled to run into them twice a year and be like, yeah, right, that's it. You know, maybe those friends that were drugs and party and nightlife were used to be deepest when you were in the same shit together. And maybe they can convert into light. You can see them once or twice a year, reminisce. Old stories catch up. Maybe because you're in a stronger mental place, maybe you can become that for those friends, maybe you can become the North Star. Maybe you can talk through how you got there. Maybe you can call them out of, like, hey, like, cut the cocaine out of your life. Like, maybe you can be that person. So that's how I answer that. There's layers to relationships. Again, this is back to black and white. Some people are like, either, like, I know a lot of people in my own life. If you're not like, best friends and deep and it's like, deep, then it's nothing. And I'm like, fuck, man. Where the layers. A lot of people are like, man, if I can't be authentic and real and, like, deep with a friend, then it's zero. It's like literally 100 or zero. And those people tend to have no friends. I'm a little bit more like, there's different levels to the game. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. 5, 4, 2, and 1. By the way, I hate when you evaluate employees or other things, random thing. You have to get rid of the number in the middle. If you evaluate employees, managers, if you have, like, an evaluation system of like, five, four, three, two, one, get rid of three. Everybody evaluates at three. Get rid of the three. Force them into a four or two little side thing while we're here. All right, let's keep going.

Patience. Like, there's plenty of times where my body's tired and I go super hard and I go to sleep. I love a good go to sleep at 9, wake up at 8. I think I've slept 11 hours twice in the last 30 days. 11. You like that brain? Yeah. You didn't see that coming, huh? Yeah, man. I listen to my body all day. I have unlimited ambitions. But I don't get this. Like, when do people think it's over? Everybody just wants it too fast. Lack of patience. This is why I talk about patience all day. All right, let's keep it going.

Clark is asking what is more important to you as a leader? Challenging your employees with new tasks to grow or making sure to give them tasks that they excel at?

The answer is, and both of those things matter to me, the most, players in a position to succeed create paths to stretch them, to learn about them and get context of what they're good and not good at. By the way, when I give new employees new tasks, different things to do, I don't necessarily need them to be great at it. I want to create opportunity for them, for career growth, and I want to get context on their ability. But I'm not disappointed. They do not lose when they fail at new tasks. And sometimes I'll go back to the same person and give them a third up or second or fourth bite at that apple. Got it. So, employees, if you've got a great boss, if you fail at a new task, sometimes it's not a bad thing. All right, go ahead.

So last week on LinkedIn, we did a poll that said, what is the number one reason that you would leave your job for work life balance and difficult boss salary or other? After 10,000 votes, the number one answer at 48% was a difficult boss.

Any reaction to that makes a lot of sense to me. Like, I mean, to me that's exactly right. Like, I think most people leave jobs for a difficult boss or more money somewhere else. That makes sense. That's the way it should be, right? Finances matter and happiness matters. It really kind of makes a lot of sense. And so in fact, a lot of how many people in the chat have left a job for more money, got there, didn't like the boss as much, and then went back to their prior job for less money than their new job for the old salary or maybe an increase from the, like something in between. How many people have done that? Say boomerang. Say boomerang. How many people have done that, had a job, left for more money, and then realized wait a minute, this is unhappiness. And then went back. Look how many people look at all these boomerangs. Look at that. And someone said never go backwards. I actually don't think that's going backwards. I think that's going forward. I think that's you realizing your day to day happiness is more important than a couple more dollars. Dollars is not the only thing. Money's not the only thing in life. How many people think money is the only thing in life? Even people trolling, I feel hopefully won't say this in chat because then the gods of karma are gonna strike them down like nobody believes that money matters. Please don't misunderstand what I'm saying. Money enables a lot of opportunities. But I mean, you know, someone said never go backwards to that. I view that as forward. If you go through an experience where you go that job is not as good and then you go back to the same amount or in between the two numbers or fuck, man, some people might have gone back to, you know, Jove says a rich person. I love that. The number one weapon of like money doesn't matter. Oh, says the rich person is the number one loser shit to say in life just gonna go right at and poke you in the heart. Loser talk. It's just like it's weaponizing a lack of depth. Anyway, let's keep it going.

The highest asset is attention. You know, the highest asset is attention. Biggest asset in the world is attention. Amassing. It creates opportunity, right? Oh, Corso says pee with Gary Vee. Audio. Some people are scared of video. Should be on audio, right? You know, like as I get older with the bags under my eyes, the comments are like, oh, you look tired, Gary. You look bad. I'm worried about you. Cause people haven't seen me a little bit. Gray bags for a lot of people, that cripples them, makes them stop wanting to be on video. the quit my job now you're 31, you can go back and get a cushy job in the future. If you fail friends, you can always get another job. I know everyone's trying to scare you and say AI is taking every job. AI is not taking every job. People that use AI are taking every job. Just like people that used a computer in the 80s and 90s became more valuable employees than ones that didn't. Could you imagine trying to be an employee in a company right now where you don't use a computer? How about the people that took jobs in the late 90s, early 2000s, people that used a computer and the Internet? Could you imagine the audacity to walk into here at Vayner on my team and say, you don't use a computer. Next use a computer, but you don't use the Internet. How about next the mobile device? How about what do you think would happen if you came here and said, I want to work with you? You know how we work. But I don't use mobile devices? How do you think that would work? That's all AI is doing. At least in the short term. AI is pretty big. There's more to come, but you could always get another fucking job. She's ready. You know, a lot of people dream she acted.
