That's a great question. A lot of people struggle. When I talk about that, I see a lot of people like, Gary, you're fucking wrong. I always laugh because their counterpoint is you should be going guard. Like, you should attack in your youth. Like, does anybody watch all the other shit I put out? I think it's contextual. My biggest belief when I look at 8 billion people is their relationship with time is very misunderstood.

That people get into very substantial depression in their early 30s because they literally believe that they blew it.

Yeah.

And I think that needs to be addressed. Especially because at my, you're pretty much

saying, like, you know, your past history is your history. Don't. Don't let your, your challenges overtake you. You're. You can still keep going.

I'm just incredibly practical. I don't care about people's emotional opinions on, on subjective thoughts. For example, there's unlimited people that got their shit together in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. Unlimited. Let me, let me, let me keep, let me keep. Yeah, let me keep breaking this down.

If a 27 year old, if a 20, if a 32 year old is walking around here right now and looking at 20 year olds or 15 year olds making tons of money, which is what this world is.

And they're like, I'm a fucking loser. This 16 year old next just sold this card for $40,000. I don't even have $40,000. If that guy, right now, that 32 year old goes, my life blows. It's over. It actually is like how you see, life is how it is. So for me to, I don't think I'm selling delusion. I think I'm selling practicality. There is unlimited people on earth that got their financial or emotional happiness at 35, at 42, at 57, at 64, at 71. How do I know? I get millions of messages.

Why did I DM you? Because I'm in my shit. I watch. And so like when people, people are trying to act like I'm the person out here making people like people lazy or lack of. Like, I laugh at this. It makes me laugh.

I was like, this makes absolute zero sense. Like, why is he telling people it's okay you're only 30 years old. You know, you have the whole.

It's contextual.

I look at it from more like urgency, speed, momentum agenda. Get going.

I have three full time admins and two chiefs of staff. Because I'm that busy.

But if I thought it was a wrap or I've accomplished as much as I can at this point, I'd be done.

It's the reverse of what people think.

Like, you know what? For someone like you or me, we don't need to think there's more time. We naturally have urgency. For 99% of the people that consume my content and your content, they're looking at the half glass full, not the half glass empty. How old are you?

You've accomplished a good amount for 31.

I will tell you that if this is what you accomplish in your whole life, you will be devastated. If you and I are hanging out and having dinner when you're 72 and this is the peak, you'll be dead. You'll be devastated. So you need to know the truth, which is at 31, I worked in a liquor store.

And I never made more than $50,000 a year in my life. So for you, like you're. You guys all grew up with all the shit that I've been talking about so you could get further at 31 in this generation. I'm 50. We couldn't get like this at 31. The Internet didn't exist like this.

You know, you have so many great businesses running, right. And obviously you're competing with big time people as well. What are you doing differently from everyone else to helping you get ahead of the game? What's different?

It's funny I'm by nature very competitive but in business I'm weird. I don't really even. I'll tell you one of the things I do. I'm going to answer it a different way. I just started talking. Twist it. I spend zero time paying attention to anybody else. Zero. Zero. When I tell you when I see people winning, people that I've helped win to higher levels than me, it doesn't fuck with me. The way I'm blown away by a players that I surround myself with who are overly fascinated that there's other a players that are making more money, have prettier girls, have more stuff. I'm always blown away by that. I think my biggest mindset is ab. I'm in my own game. I'm in my own cocoon. I'm in the arena. I'm weirdly, weirdly. This is why I hit all of you up. I weirdly cheer for others in a way that makes me very different.

I've seen it, I've watched it.

Like when you message me, I kid you not that same exact. Ever since that day I go out, I have two jobs. I'm a full time preschool teacher and also I still do my conservation. That's all too.

Yeah, it's incredible.

Even after work I work like 16 hours a day. He was left to right. But since I day, I kid you not, I triple the amount of balls I've gained in the past year. He doesn't stop.

He's just like you and I. Yeah, bro. Why would you stop? When you're. When you're enjoying it, when you're ambitious and you're enjoying it. It's not work. It's never lifestyle.

The way you actually handle it is your relationship with yourself. Every one of you fuckers. Whether you're winning heavy or you're laying on the couch and not doing shit. Every one of you. If you're able to have a good relationship with yourself and you realize you're just a fucking person, if you don't get high in your own fucking supply and think you're somebody, when you make a couple of bucks or get a couple of followers, if you keep it humble with yourself and you keep it nice to yourself, when you misstep, when you lose money, when you lose momentum, when you just. When you're nice to yourself. Bro, I make a hundred micro mistakes a month.

But that will never stop me from growing macro le because I'm doing a million things.

And like, the passion that you have during this. Like, how do you stay motivated when it seems kind of so big that other people might not be able to, or when you hit roadblocks along the way.

You know, for me, I want people to fall in love with these characters because these characters scale what I've been doing for 15 years on the Internet, which is there's just not enough people that are selling love and accountability and kindness and patience. The world is void of scaled potential positivity. You know, it's so easy to self Fear, a negativity. And so for me it's very easy because even in the hardest days, when it's not going well, I know that if one parent, one kid, one human falls in love with this universe and gets out of things like their anxiety is relieved a little bit or their depression is chipped away at. I think the mission is so big emotionally that the financial part and the business part, it feels so small to the mission. It's a little bit like Jim Henson, I think.

Yeah.

[Gary Vaynerchuk]

The more I've learned about his career, I'm like, oh, this makes sense. Like, sure. He wanted Sesame street and the Muppets and Fraggle Rock to do well commercially. I want to build a very big business if I can. But when, when, when you know you're doing something a little bit bigger, when it's not just about the business.

It makes it. It's like parenting.

You know, like you don't like give up because today was a shitty day.

And so like. And I'm also a little bit of a psycho. Like I kind of like the tough days more than the good days. There's a. I'm incredibly motivated by adversity and challenges. I don't view those as self esteem dings. I look at them as like fun hurdles to jump over. So I think my disposition and perspective on life is very conducive to, to building something big.

And how long did this take you from ideation to completion?

[Gary Vaynerchuk]

I mean, we started this five years ago and so, you know, the first several years were fully Digital, Digital Collectibles, NFTs. Over the last three years, it's been much more physical and so comics, cards, coins, cartoons. Now with comic books, we're really going into the really building out the ip. Like a lot of people collect because they love me and what I built over the last 20 years. Now I need them to fall in love with my characters. Now it needs to be Spider Man, Superman, Mickey Mouse. So that's where I'm at.

Yeah. Because there's only so many. Because so much of this is flippers. And as you know, a lot of the flippers that were into sneakers went to car. But it ebbs and flows.

into influencer marketing and you've partnered with some of the biggest influencers in the world. How did you like really get into that?

I created that.

I was, I was the first guy, you know, Logan, Steven, all those guys grew up on my stuff. I was so ahead. But that influencer marketing is much smaller than content. Yeah, it's just content on social. But it's like any other skill. You got to get good at it. You know what I mean?

And also, you have like, you have a lot of confidence in yourself too.

[Gary Vaynerchuk]

That's mainly because I don't put other people on a pedestal. And I also am not trying to impress anyone. Like, the more humble you are, the more confident you become when you're not trying to impress anyone all of a sudden. It's easy to be confident when you are trying to impress other people. That's when insecurity seeps in.

So we have like 20 college hosts across the country that are both like athletes and like aspiring creators. We specialize in like man on the street content that's going well and then like we monetize it through brand partnerships primarily. So like all the DDC brands that are looking to like reach the college market. So it's been a lot of fun.

And then I started this sounds like this clothing brand called New York Minute. So I was like thought it was crazy that no one owns the trademark for all in a New York minute. So I bought it a year and a half ago and you know, it takes a year. Right. So I've been working on that now and then after the Nick's one we have like this nix inspired collection. All organic influencer gifting and starting to do really well.

But yeah, I guess like my, my question that I talked to Nick about is like how to spend time allocated across the board as a small team, you know.

I think it's mainly about not judging yourself on Monday morning about how you played the game on Sunday.

Like when I look back at the way I built everything, all the different businesses, like I don't know if there was ever a week, a day, a minute, a month or a year where I played it exactly as I would have wanted to.

I think the biggest difference between people that build meaningful things and people that struggle to get it to a level is their own judgment on themselves.

Like how do you balance it? By fucking going with your gut. If tomorrow you wake up and you got to put more effort into New York Minute because you're sensing something, but because of that, the fucking college network is down a little bit more. That happens to me every day.

Yeah.

Like, like for the first three months of this year, VaynerMedia was a very Big focus. I focused on be friends last two months. I see it show up on VaynerMedia.

[Josh]

Right?

[Colleen]

Yeah.

Like, it's like managing to six kids. Like, you can't. Like you're gonna. One of the six kids is gonna be in the worst. Like, so the way you manage it. Manage it is by looking forward instead of back. Sure, yeah. You know what I mean? And then it's your relationship with yourself.

Right. And then in the early days, how did you know when it was time to, like, learn how? Like, when it was time to delegate?

[Gary Vaynerchuk]

Ultimately, I'm a big. I mean, as soon as I could afford it, my biggest advantage in hindsight was I didn't think I needed to make money for most of my life.

[Colleen]

Life.

[Josh]

Yeah. Yeah. Because it's a long life, 100 plus years. Right.

[Gary Vaynerchuk]

So what I did way better than most was I didn't make $100,000 a year until I was 36 years old.

And I was building at 22.
