Welcome to the HC Commodities Podcast, a podcast dedicated to the commodities sector and the people within it. I'm your host Paul Chapman. This podcast is produced by HC Group, a global search firm dedicated to the commodities sector.

Just a few brief announcements from the podcast. Firstly, HC Group, the firm I co head, which is a search firm dedicated to the commodities sector with offices around the world, are proud to sponsor the Financial Times Global Commodities Summit next week in Lausanne from the 20th to the 22nd of April. We're silver sponsors. We're also releasing a paper on AI and its impact on commodity trading and its people which will be available for download after the event and I will be there in person and certainly welcome any meetings and approaches and so forth. Following that on the 22nd of April. On that Wednesday we have a live event with Bloomberg Intelligence where we're discussing metals, trying to price the narrative versus the physical gold, copper, critical minerals and the rest of the. Our panelists include Grant Spora, Matt Heap and Quentin lamarche. I'll put links to the Show Notes where you can RSVP. Tickets are free but very limited and subject to Bloomberg's discretion. Secondly, we've just released our Q1 market review. This one's titled the Roiling Storm. It includes editorials on each of the verticals within commodity trading, the key talent trends as well as key talent moves, and much more. Again, I'll put links to download that in our Show Notes and if you want to make sure you get that on release every quarter, just sign up at our website. To receive our newsletters, just go to www.hcgroup.global and follow the links to sign up. We also release on that news channel periodic white papers around talent trends, compensation and so forth. Thirdly, HC Group's Talent Intelligence Unit, a separate unit that provides clients with information on organizational design, competitor analysis and compensation trends, has just published its annual Global Energy Trading Compensation Report. This provides base salary benchmarks and analysis for multiple energy trading positions in all of the key hubs. The report costs a standard $10,000 and you can register and you can register your interest and have a call about what's in it if you go to our website and click on the Talent Intelligence link or put a link directly in the Show Notes as to episodes, we're closely watching obviously the events going on in Iran and have one or two emergency pods lined up if things shift. I think for the first time in a very long time we won't get an episode out next Wednesday as we'll be busy at the conference. But as always Hopefully I'll get the chance to record notes and reflections on the conference so you can get a sense of what's going on in the conference halls and in the minds of the key leaders of our sector. And we will also be publishing an episode dedicated to the AI report that we published again on subsequent podcasts. I'll put links in the show notes where you can download that as well. The results are fascinating and show how consequential and AI is to performance, competitive advantages and people. And to my mind reinforces many of my views which is AI isn't going to replace people so much as allow them to do the more interesting parts of their jobs and add more value and platforms that don't embrace it are going to find themselves at a competitive disadvantage when hiring talent for whom certain tasks are now going to be expected to be automated. Anyway, thanks for all the well wishes for the 300th episode which came out a couple of weeks ago and I certainly appreciate all the emails that we get thanking us for the podcast or recommendations. And certainly please do keep the connects and ideas coming as it really helps us continue to get one show out a week. Again, look forward to seeing those who I can at the FT Conference and in Geneva more broadly. And thanks again for listening.
