Covino
Well, don't call it a comeback. It's been here for years.
Rich
But not in the same way, right?
Covino
Right. But I think we should kick off where we sort of left off because it leads to something bigger. And when I say bigger, pun intended, because we're talking Debo in a what's up, fatty? Right at the end of yesterday's show. Remember, if you miss any show, catch it on the podcast. Danny G. Always putting the best of out there. Speaking of what's up, Danny G. What up?
Iowa Sam
Happy Wednesday. That feels like a Thursday.
Covino
Hell, yeah. What up, Iowa? Sam. Hey, O. I'm too hot to handle. Rocking my new Heat Wave shirt. I like it, buddy. Too hot to handle, too cold to hold.
Iowa Sam
Oh, man.
Covino
Sam boogieing in the studio, this guy. And of course, DB's got your updates.
Iowa Sam
Looks like he got electrocuted.
Covino
Spots, got your videos and midweek major coming up.
Rich
Oh, my God, you were so hot. The fire alarms went off.
Covino
Yo, I was saying. Look what you did.
Iowa Sam
We didn't even get to the hot take yet.
Covino
Those moves were so caliente.
Rich
My God. Muy caliente.
Covino
By the way, this really is a fire drill. That's not a sound effect. I got to get out of here.
Iowa Sam
I feel like I triggered it when I. He said electrocuted, man.
Covino
Or maybe Iowa. Sam's moves were so fire that the strobe lights. Sam, stop.
Iowa Sam
All right, Danny G. Executive producer of Covino and Rich, share it was a little nerve wracking when the alarm went off and it was happening live on the air now, a couple hours after it happened, we can laugh about it, but what we did is we filled in that time with the Joey Chestnut interview from a couple of weeks ago, so won't put that here. We'll cut that out of this podcast hour. If you want to hear that interview, go back a couple of weeks and you'll find CNR's conversation with the Goat. Let's move ahead in the hour.

Welcome to Pretty Private with Ebony, the podcast where silence is broken and stories are set free. I'm Ebony and every Tuesday I'll be sharing all new anonymous stories that would challenge your perceptions and give you new insight on the people around you. On Pretty Private, we'll explore the untold experiences of women of color who faced it all. Childhood trauma, addiction, abuse, incarceration, grief, mental health struggles and more. And found the strength to make it to the other side. My dad was shot and killed in his house. Yes, he was a drug dealer. Yes, he was a confidential informant. But he wasn't shot on a street corner. He wasn't shot in the middle of a drug deal. He was shot in his house.
Slimrank
Unarmed.
Ebony
Pretty private isn't just a Podcast. It's your personal guide for turning storylines into lifelines. Every Tuesday, make sure you listen to Pretty Private from the Black Effect podcast network. Tune in on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your favorite shows.
Dr. Lea Tritate
Sometimes it's hard to remember, but going.
Rich
Through something like that is a traumatic experience. But it's also not the end of your life.
Dr. Lea Tritate
That was my dad reminding me and so many others who need to hear it that our trauma is not our shame to carry and that we have big, bold and beautiful lives to live after what happened to us. I'm your host and co president of this organization, Dr. Lea Tritate. On my new podcast, the Unwanted Sorority, we wade through transformation to peel back healing and reveal what it actually looks like and sounds like in real time. Each week, I sit down with people who've lived through harm and carried silence and are now reshaping the systems that failed us. We're going to talk about the adultification of black girls mothering as resistance and the tools we use for healing. The Unwanted Sorority is a safe space, not a quiet space. So let's lock in. We're moving towards liberation together. Listen to the Unwanted Sorority. New episodes every Thursday on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Rich
Sound the alarm. Yeah, here we go.
Covino
By the way, the timing of that fire alarm. If you just joined us, we just played a replay of Joey Chestnut and yesterday's conversation about top five NFL sleeper teams because the fire alarm went off. But it went off right as Iowa Sam was showing us his hot new dance moves with his hot new shirt. What does your shirt say? It's a heat Wave.
Rich
Heat Wave was a disco funk band from the 70s and 80s.
Covino
Heat wave too hot to handle.
Rich
I started doing my dancing and, like, honestly, like in a sitcom, the fire alarms went off.
Dan Buyer
Yeah. I don't know if you guys know this, but you guys just landed your 1,000th affiliate. So that's why they rang the alarms 1,000 times of the 1,000th Cavino and Rich affiliates. Yes.
Covino
Thank you, DB.
Rich
I didn't know we're now on in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Covino
Yes, there it is.
Dan Buyer
The 1,000 ring salute.
Covino
We're gonna get to DB's update in a few minutes. We're Covino and Rich broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studio. Danny g. Super producing 87799 on Fox. Save that number because we're gonna be giving away prizes. Mike's Wednesday words of wisdom plus midweek major coming up. But thank you guys for hanging with us in the meantime in between time.
Rich
I love this story about to and Debo Samuel because both guys I've rooted for as a Niners fan. So I love to and Debo gave me some plenty of great memories. But this. This is something else.
Covino
Carol Owens says Commander's wide receiver Debo Samuel is two chicken nuggets away from tipping the scale. And that's why I gave you our impression when we met him at Super Bowl. Shorter than you would think. Stocky, but solid. Now, I haven't seen him recently, but I know he had that reputation, which is why I took note. Because he had a reputation of being kind of thin.
Rich
Yeah, he is like how you like your women, Jake, with like five C's.
Covino
The same way I like my Seattle's Mariners catchers. Big dumpers.
Rich
As to said, he is fat, he ain't big boned. He's about two chicken nuggets away from tipping the scale. Debo's my guy, though. I love Debo. So, you know, sort of pad.
Covino
You can't diss a guy like that and then say, I love him, though. He's my guy. It's like, yo, man, have you seen Rich's hairline? I love him, though. He's my guy.
Rich
So my hairline's great. So great. Oh, thanks, man.
Iowa Sam
With all due respect.
Covino
Yeah. It's like saying, hey, man, no offense, but that's basically what he did. He's like, yo, Deebo's kind of fat, but he's my guy.
Rich
He didn't say kind of. He goes, he is fat. He ain't big boned.
Iowa Sam
And Luka just went through this.
Rich
Yeah. I mean, there was nothing more humiliating than the narrative around the big trade being it's because Lucas fat. And then they go back to the video of when the Mavs were in the NBA finals and they pulled the beer out of his hand.
Covino
You know what it is though, too, though, to be fair to still a specimen.
Rich
Yeah.
Covino
And sort of set what we think is the standard for the ultimate wide receiver. Right. I mean, Teo's almost built like a tight end. That's how big he was. But still physique. Slender, fast, fit. And Debo doesn't have that type of physique. He just doesn't. He's built like more of a running.
Rich
Back D. Most like a brick house.
Covino
Right, Exactly. So he just doesn't fit the standard. He's not too position. So he's not fat in comparison to other players in the NFL. He just might be a Little stocky for a wide receiver.
Rich
So think about this. Deba Samuel Luca, what triggered you to start your fitness journey? Or if you want to lose a couple pounds. Or, hey, maybe something got you to quit smoking weed. Or, yo, I stopped drinking so much.
Covino
Because what was the catalyst?
Rich
I remember. I can't remember who, but I remember some celebrity telling the story about how they were living the LA party life, and they showed up, like, pretty drunk and hungover at their niece's birthday party. And they're like, yeah, I knew at that moment, it was like, I gotta cut back on the boozing.
Iowa Sam
How about, what made you stop smoking cigarettes? I remember my uncle freaking out because he couldn't get the yellow off his teeth.
Covino
Oh, he needed topal. Yeah.
Iowa Sam
And he's like, yeah, I'm quitting. I'm quitting these cigs.
Covino
Yeah. No. What was the spark? What was the catalyst to help you make that change? Because we've seen Luca recently. Like Danny G Said, he's thin and trim and looking fit. I mean, everybody was talking about his weight. How about the time they took away the beer from him? That was embarrassing.
Iowa Sam
Right now on NBA Twitter, there's all the side by side photos of him showing him how he's leaning mean again right now.
Covino
Mean and mean. So there's always a catalyst. We have our personal stories. It might be as simple as seeing a picture of yourself or what you used to look like.
Dan Buyer
I think the taking of the beer away from him actually made him not want to do it, which is why the Mavericks ultimately decided you're gone. And then that ticked him off.
Rich
They were almost like, are you going.
Covino
To embarrass me like that? Yeah.
Rich
Okay. All right.
Covino
I'm a grown man.
Rich
Yeah.
Dan Buyer
You think I'm. You think I'm fat Now? Watch this.
Covino
You know, that's very possible. Like, I'm going to do what I want you to get. You're not going to stop.
Dan Buyer
And then he got traded, and I think that changed everything.
Rich
Well, that definitely changed. By the way, terrible, manipulative. Side note here. If you want your significant other to lose weight, post pictures of when they used to be skinnier around the house.
Covino
Or, I mean, that's terrible. Sounds healthy.
Rich
I'm kidding.
Covino
On the fridge. But what you could do is on the fridge, plan a vacation. Because that usually inspires both parties, right?
Iowa Sam
Yeah. You could exercise together. Getting ready for the trip.
Covino
We had a big convention recently. 20 years. We celebrated Covino and Rich. We had this big party in Vegas. You guys heard us talking about it, and I know Rich used that as an excuse to use it as a competition amongst friends to lose some weight.
Rich
Who's going to trim down more? Hey, we're going to the beach for a vacation. You and your wife may say, hey, we're getting away from the kids. We're going to Cabo for a long weekend.
Iowa Sam
It was the first time I saw you pass up on pizza, Rich.
Rich
Dude, it's very rare you see that.
Covino
But I also know you got Botox.
Rich
I did not get Botox spot yet. Can't ever say I won't. But we had an old intern, and I'll just tell a quick story, then we'll go to db. We had an intern, let's call him Spike. Yeah, Spike. He was a big fella, spiky boy. And we had Olivia Munn on the show. And he had the biggest crush on Olivia munn. I mean, G4TV back in the day, but now we know her as a super popular actress. Dated Aaron Rodgers. Olivia Munn's gorgeous. He took a picture with Olivia Munn and when he saw it, he was like, oh, my God, that's what I look like. And that started this guy's weight loss journey to really be a better version of himself. Because, like, that's what I.
Covino
To quote him, and this is the truth, this was his story. He said when he saw him side by side with the beautiful Olivia Munn, the contrast of him looking like a monster. That's what he said.
Rich
He said he looked like a monster.
Covino
Like Shrek or something. He said was the spark he needed to begin this weight loss quest. And he lost like a hundred pounds. So what was it for you? It could have been a health scare. You know, we want to hear the story. Maybe it's you being criticized by your former. By a former NFL player. Like to.
Rich
Yeah. Yo, Debo, you fat.
Covino
Yeah, exactly.
Rich
Two chicky nuggies shy of being a fat self. All right, Dan Buyer, let's get an update. What's going on, man?
Dan Buyer
Guys, news just in the NBA minutes after becoming a free agent. Reports say Deandre Ayton is expected to sign a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Rich
Oh, is that why Danny just pumped his fist for real?
Dan Buyer
Yes, I saw that. The New York Knicks have hired Mike Brown to be their new head coach. While the athletic reports the Warriors, Lakers and Celtics are some of the teams interested in Damian Lillard reaching out to the now free agent guard Charlotte Hornets and Spencer Dinwiddie to a one year deal. Grizzlies all star big man Jaren Jackson Jr. Is going to be evaluated in 12 weeks following turf toe surgery. In day baseball, the Rays salvage the final game of a three game set topping the A's today 6 to 5. Red Sox won their game that was resumed from yesterday over the Reds 5 3. Pirates sweep the Cardinals winning 5 nothing while in game ones of double headers Tigers beat the Nationals 11 to 2. Padres over the Philly 6 to 4. My brewers beat Riches Mets 7 to 2.
Rich
Can't buy a win man.
Dan Buyer
Call them Cavino's brewers for your bet. Kevin Pilar announced his retirement after 13 seasons. Braves pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach on the IL because of a fractured elbow. And at Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz Taylor Fritz winners today but Francis Tiafo upset on the gentleman side, Ladies singles Naomi Osaka, Madison Keys and top seed Arena Sabalenka all one. Back to you guys.
Rich
Thank you Dan Buyer.
Covino
Thanks Dan.
Rich
So we'll take more of your feedback, your thoughts on to.
Covino
Yeah, I got a few stories too.
Rich
Calling Debo Samuel a fatso. What started, what started you getting on the right track again? It doesn't need to be weight. It could be like, yo, I stopped smoking weed because I started forgetting too many things. Like what? What was the catalyst for you? Plus a thought about sports and the calendar. We are midway through the year. What is the best time of the year for watching and participating in sports? I'll break that down coming up all here on fox Sports Radio.

Debo's a brick house. House. Rob Zombie styles my boy Bobby Z. Hey, Bobby Z. On Fox Sports Radio. What up, Rob Zombie. I saw Rob Zombie at a California pizza kitchen. I was like, who's that dusty guy with a witch's hat on? Oh, his piercings and leather and stuff.
Rich
I love Robbie Rubs on pineapple on your pizza.
Covino
Yeah, I didn't know he was a pineapple on a pizza kind of guy. Anyway, we're Covino and Rich live from the Fox Sports Radio studio. And it's time for our tire rack play of the day. Shohei Ohtani. Shohei Ohtani joins Aaron Judd and Cal raleigh in the 30 home run club.
Dan Buyer
Ohtani awaits the 32 pitch from Shane Smith.
Covino
Here it comes. He swings. It's a high drive to right field. Way back it goes. And this ball has gone a home run. Shohei Otani with a blast. His 30th of the season.
Rich
Dodgers went on to beat the White Sox. Big surprise.
Covino
Whoopada doo.
Rich

For over 40 years, Tire Rack has been helping customers find the right tires for how, what and where they drive ship fast and free. Tirerack.com the way tire buying should be now coming up if you stick around Mike's Wednesday Words of wisdom giving away prizes plus midweek Major the biggest stories in sports and pop culture. Are they midweek or major we do it every Wednesday and we have lots to get to rich, but we're talking about sort of fitness and health right now.
Rich
Debo, by the way, speaking of fitness and health, we had Joey Chestnut on earlier. Little hang with him. Yeah, going for 80 hot dogs on Friday. I just read one of those fourth of July fun facts. Not only do we spend a billion dollars, billion, billion billion billion dollars on fireworks every 4th of July.
Covino
Husker dues and Husker don'ts get expensive.
Rich
Got some Husker do some Huskers. Billions and billions, billions of dollars on fireworks.
Covino
Sparklers are expensive nowadays.
Rich
How many hot dogs do you think Americans eat every 4th of July?
Covino
5 billion.
Rich
Well, now you just made my stat. No. 100 billion the answer. 150 million hot dogs are eaten on the 4th of July.
Covino
Not as many wieners as nevermind. Okay, how many is Deebo eating?
Rich
Is that as many as that? Port Southern tried to break the record, did she?
Covino
That's only like half a hot dog per person because what is the United States like?
Dan Buyer
330 million people?
Rich
Hey, way to downplay my stat, guys. Hey, back to your phone calls. Debo Samuel, he's going to have some hot dogs. Hot dogs on Friday. I bet TL called him a fatso.
Covino
Said that he's a few McNuggets away from being fat.
Rich
Read the full quote. He is fat.
Covino
Did he really say that he is fat?
Rich
He ain't big bone. He's about two nuggets shy of tipping the scale. Debo's my guy. I love him. Let's go to Nate in Ohio. Nate, what's up, buddy?
Covino
Hey, what's up, man?
Greg Rosenthal
Hey, I've got, you know, even though Devo's getting a little heavier, a little husky, but she's still a high end, too. Low end slot receiver guy. And he's gonna help out Washington in the long run anyways.
Rich
Yeah, man. Listen, I'm a Niners fan. I'll be honest. I wish he was still on my team, but he is a little thick. Casey, Tony, you're on. Debo getting called fat by to and you know, sometimes it takes that to get you to lose weight or improve yourself.
Covino
What's up, Tony? It's the reality. Hey, guys.
Rich
Hey.
Greg Rosenthal
So, yeah, yeah, Debo needs a few extra pounds when he was being a.
Covino
Running back there and at the 49ers.
Rich
So my weight loss, I was 290.
Covino
Pounds and I was down in Florida on vacation and we went to Ron John's surf shack.
Rich
Yep.
Covino
Now I wanted a pair of shorts.
Rich
And I couldn't find a single pair.
Greg Rosenthal
In the entire store.
Rich
I was a 45 at the time. It could be a picture. It could be like I couldn't find clothes. It could be you're on a plane.
Covino
And your pals are losing weight because they're on Ozempic or something like, you know what? I better step my game up. It could be anything. We go V. I got one more story. I'll share it next.
Rich
We'll do that plus give away some prizes. Having fun Wednesday, Covino and Rich right here on Fox Sports Radio. Anything you miss, by the way, you can always catch at Covino and Rich.
