They did a jersey swap. They were palling around, bro. Hugging globally. I would imagine the answer is messy. But do you think here in the United States. In the States, is Mahomes a bigger star than Messi or. There's so many young kids into soccer that you'd say, even here in the.

States, I'm going Mahomes. Because, I mean, it's America's game. Nothing bigger than American football in America, worldwide, there's no comparison whatsoever.

100 middle school and high school kids, hey, kids, who do you want to come to the school? Would they say Mahomes or Messi?

Most of them would say Mahomes.

I would think so, right?

I've never seen a Mahomes jersey out of my grocery store. But I see messy jerseys more than. It's a great point than that.

That's why I thought it was an interesting question, because my first thought was, globally, Messi, what a big star. And I thought it was a cool moment that they did an ad together for Adidas. The jersey swap, bro Huggin. And I thought, well, here in the States, Mahomes, I'm like, you know what? Maybe not even. Because we love football and baseball and basketball, I feel like the younger generation puts soccer sort of in that category.

There's no doubt. But there's way more Americans watching American football than soccer here in this country. No doubt ratings prove it. Yeah, there's just no doubt. There's no denying that. So just based on that, and the more and more it becomes an international game. But I do think I actually disagree with Dan Beyer, believe it or not. I actually do. I think in America, Mahomes, what would you say?

I mean, just let me have America. He has the rest of the world.

You know, he has the rest of the world. Messi. There's no denying he is a mammoth outside of America, even in America. But I think. I think Mahomes still edges him out here.

I'll tell you what. We had the Honor of interviewing David Beckham. We had a sit down with him when we used to work at espn. And when I tell you the vibe in the building when David Beckham came in was like nothing I've ever seen. Like, I mean, like security from coworkers to everyone.

Those big international never felt uglier in our lives.

But this may be worldwide, like to your point. Worldwide. There's no doubt about it. But I think it's interesting when you talk about the US on what the actual split would be.

Like, I mean, Danny, your. Your boys that are. Your sons that are in College, were they 20, 22 years old?

Would they be more pumped? They're football guys though, right?

It's a great question because Tom Brady is having a statue erected. I said erected. Outside of Fox, he's not erected. We've seen the amazing Kobe statues, Magic Johnson, some of the ones out of outside of Staples.

Some of them don't look so amazing.

And that's the thing, too. Sometimes statues don't. They miss the mark a lot of times lately.

This is a 12 foot statue that came to be. Kraft decided this has to happen.

Six times bigger than AIs.

[Tom Brokaw]

Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yeah.

[Dan Byer]

Yeah. And you know what, Cove? Speaking of soccer stars, we've also seen how bad a statue could turn out. Allah Ronaldo, remember the whack ass Ronaldo And Dwayne Wade. Dwayne Wade's was not good. But then you say, well, we thought of street sign because Danny G. You brought this up. I said, well, what's a bigger honor? You get a statue. Unless you do some terrible stuff, that statue will forever live on outside that arena. Yeah, that town square, that federal building. Like if you're a politician, a president, an athlete, a famous person, that statue will live thousands of years after you.

We just saw Travis Barker get a street named after him in his hometown of Fontana, California.

[Dan Byer]

And you know what? When I went to the Dodgers game a couple of weeks ago to see the Mets lose again, because I never go when they win, make a right on Vin Scully way. And I'm like, vin Scully, doesn't Fernando have one too?

Honor, doesn't Venezuela have one?

[Lester Holt]

Check on that.

I think Fernando Valenzuela has one. Tom Brady statue will be erected outside Gillette Stadium ahead of their first preseason game in August. And they're going to do a whole ceremony to promote the 12 foot tribute. And it is quite the honor. Kraft said that the statue would perpetuate the legendary legacy of this once in a lifetime player. So based on that, we posed a question and I think the answer is obviously the statue because I mean, you go back just into ancient times, that's how they. Yeah, that's how they immortalized their heroes and legends and leaders. And if you're able to do that in today's world with a bronze, a 12 foot bronze statue of Tom Brady, I think that says a lot about his legacy in years to come. And it lives on. And a street name. It always takes me back to the Chris Rock bit of anywhere in the country. If you're on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, run, run. I want Dr. Martin Luther King, like, because it's supposed to be an honor and it's a tribute, but like, you don't know what goes on on that street. It's not necessarily, it's not good things all the time.

I think there's a tier system and it starts with, oh, you're in the ring of honor or the team retires your number. Then after that it's I think hall of Fame. And then I think after that statue.

You got dogs tinkling on your street pole and bad things going on in that street.

[Dan Byer]

But I still think. And there are people that aren't even like the greatest dudes that have.

What about street to the city?

That means nothing to me. I don't even know what that means. What does that even mean? Does it open anything? If you want to. If you want to go to Dunkin.

Donuts late at night, it unlocks the bathroom at the. The key to the city. But I think that. I think. I mean, I could be wrong. I think the street name is the ultimate honor where it's very cool, but it's not.

It doesn't beat the statue. I don't think so.

Can I just say that there is something cool about writing an address and that person's name is in the address and it's like a part of the US Mail system. I mean, that's like forever.

That is cool. Forever, ever. But that I agree with.

Neither are really forever. Everything has an expiration date, as we already established this week. Right. So the statue could come down one day. They could rebuild another stadium somewhere else. Someone vandalizes it and they can.

They could rename a street.

They can always rename a street, is my point.

Because in New York Spot. Our old stomping grounds. Remember the. The Kaziusko Bridge? Isn't that like RFK now? You could rename bridges and streets and all that.

Usually after they honor somebody, though, they leave that they should alone. Yeah, unless.

Unless, of course, that person does something terrible.

There is one side of the statue argument, Covina. There's people say there are way too many outside of Staples center. Whereas it's few and far in between when you have an actual street named after you.

Well, he. That's not his real name. He stole that. He took that name, I think, from Chevy Chase, Maryland.

It's not the Chevy Chase. So in. In Hollywood, when there's a Chevy Chase street, that's not. That's not like National Lampoons Vacation Fletch. Chevy Chase.

Yeah, because I always remember thinking like, how did he get a street?

I just looked it up. It says it's named after Chevy Chase Estates, a housing development established in the 1920s, Maryland. So he's a Chevy Chase, Glendale.

His real name is Cornelius, Cornelius Chase.

I think the only thing, the only edge that a street name has stuck with that. The only edge that the street name has is the fact that the statue could come out weak and therefore it takes away from the honor. Like the Dwayne Wade story. Most recently. Like, yeah, that was cool. Kind of. Not really.

Yeah. One of the Kobe's. Remember the arm? Too long.

Yeah. But if it's a nice one, then I think. Yeah, that holds more weight, Lucille. It's just the risk of it.

Lucille Ball had a famously bad one. We've talked about this before. We don't need to really reiterate, but I do think Tom Brady. I think statues should be. Should be held for guys like Tom Brady.

Or how about it, Like a stadium named after you. That's kind of dope. Or an award or a trophy. Is there something that beats the statue or the street name that we're not thinking of?

But. But when you just said the statue. Right. We're thinking about Tom Brady. I think a statue does need to be reserved for a Michael Jordan, a Tom Brady, like a generational. Not like, this guy was the best guy on our team. I mean, no offense to Dwayne Wade. I love Dwayne Wade. I think he was a great player. Brought the Miami Heat to an NBA title. Like, but do you think Dwayne Wade does. There's a statue, but maybe you're thinking.

It'S getting watered down. Like, not everyone deserves one.

But see, then I, Then I sound like a jerk. Is Dwayne Wade, I'm sure, is a great guy. And everyone in Miami would be like, yeah, I give him a statue to me statue. It's like, you're right. It's like, you know, George Washington has a statue.

Like, to me, you know, our very own Rob Parker came in really proud one day, and I'm proud of it's coming.

Street naming is still significant, but you could sometimes be more. But it can sometimes be more about publicly public utility than legacy alone. Golfer finds a young kid. And it seems like a dark comedy. It's funny, it's emotional. I watched one episode. I'm sort of pulled in. So Stick is great. And if you watch Tires with Shane Gillis on Netflix, I thought season one was good. What was the. What was that?

[Tom Brokaw]

Cause you're just one of those guys that everything you have is a bad boy. Like, just because you have Apple tv, you think everything's great on it.

[Dan Byer]

Well, this is on Netflix, dummy.

[Tom Brokaw]

Yeah, well, I don't like him either.

[Dan Byer]

You don't like Shane Gillis?

[Tom Brokaw]

He's alright.

I think he's really funny. And Jon Lovitz, who we mentioned before, he's a big part of season two. A lot of funny cameos. And season two so far for me, way better than season one. So tires. Very funny. There's a lot of great rando documentaries to check out. There's one about. There's one about this cocaine plane. Have you seen this? There's a cocaine plane documentary.

And the guy that survived in seat 11A in that plane crash.

Oh my God. It's called Cocaine air smugglers at 30,000ft. That looks awesome. And I'll give you one more. Taraji P. Henson, who I think is great. She's in a movie called Straw on Netflix that looks really emotional and action packed.

I heard it's a tear jerker.

Dude, 10 out of 10. It is an in depth look at his life, his son's life. The stepmom is a big part of it. And it's about. We talked about this topic yesterday. Rich balancing a professional sports career with personal relationships.

Yeah.

And I'm serious. By the time he gets into that crash, which by the way, played out like a movie with all this real footage and everything from nascar. What an amazing story. And I didn't know a lot about this because I wasn't watching race racing as a kid or anything. But you don't even have to be a race car fan. Watch it. It's on Prime. Amazon Prime.
