Bryce Mitchell
Absolutely.
Daniel Cormier
You're the man.
Bryce Mitchell
Absolutely. I hope I pass the test.
Daniel Cormier
Oh, you will. You will. Okay, so it's been a long time. I met you on the Ultimate Fighter. You a baby. And you know, you honestly didn't it. It wasn't that. I could tell that you had a lot of ability, but it's not like you had this big personality that you have today. What happened? What changed to where you became such a character but also showed all those great skills that you have inside the octagon.
Bryce Mitchell
I think I took too many hits to the head. Now I'm just stuck. Crazy brother.
Daniel Cormier
What do you mean, man? You're not crazy.
Bryce Mitchell
Yeah, I mean I just like to have a good time and I don't want to offend nobody, but also like speaking my mind and I like talking about things other than fighting. And I think that really compels people because there's so much more to life than fighting. And fighting. Fighting to me is actually boring to talk about. I like talking.
Daniel Cormier
Really? Why?
Bryce Mitchell
I like talking about farming and stuff like that and ideas and politics and, you know, things like that.
Daniel Cormier
Did fighting. So fighting just provides you a platform to do all those things that you love, right?
Bryce Mitchell
Absolutely. I think that that's why God put me here is because he wants me to use the fighting platform to glorify his name. And at the end of the day, I do believe that is my God given destiny.
Daniel Cormier
Yeah. So you have won a lot. You've had some. Some setbacks. What would you make of your career to this point, Bryce? Like, I know when you left the Ultimate Fighter, everybody has goals of becoming the champion. What do you make of your placement today and how you think the career is going to this point?
Bryce Mitchell
Well, I am grateful for every opportunity that I've had to even be able to do what I've done, but I'm really not satisfied. I'm really not have too much of a sense of accomplishment. But I do love the people that I'm surrounded with and the people that I've met. But as far as my personal goals, I just haven't even scratched the surface, and I kind of. I'm really hard on myself, and I really expect even better results.
Daniel Cormier
What are you trying to do to make sure that you start to go in the direction that you want to?
Bryce Mitchell
Well, to win on Saturday, that's going to be what starts it. So I'm going to start me off a good win streak with a good finish and just go from there. I'm gonna fight more often. That's the plan.
Daniel Cormier
So have you done anything different in the training? Like, have you got a different team? Same team. What are you doing? Because a lot of times when a young fighter, if anything goes sideways, they try to restart everything, get rid of everybody, restart everything, do something different. Have you done any of that?
Bryce Mitchell
Well, I did start doing a strength and conditioning program. I've been real consistent, was lifting three to four days a week, was very consistent with my cardio. Also started traveling to Vegas. That was a big thing. And so I can train with Patchy Mix, Dan Ige, Al, Jermaine Stock.
Daniel Cormier
You're training out at Syndicate or Stream?
Bryce Mitchell
Yes, sir. So I added in training at different spots, I added in weightlifting, and even had one of the UFC people, Dawn, she's helping me cut the weight a little bit better. So I've done multiple things to actually that will lead to better results, too.
Daniel Cormier
And you had a baby.
Bryce Mitchell
And I had a baby.
Daniel Cormier
What was the baby's name?
Bryce Mitchell
Tucker.
Daniel Cormier
Boy. A boy?
Bryce Mitchell
Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
Daniel Cormier
How old is he?
Bryce Mitchell
He is seven months old, or actually eight months old now. And he's just so awesome. He's so adorable, brother. I mean, I can't even say how much I love him. We named him Tucker because me and my wife met, because I did an interview with Tucker Carlson.
Daniel Cormier
I remember that, bro.
Bryce Mitchell
It got millions of views.
Daniel Cormier
Was that one of the best times? Did you love it?
Bryce Mitchell
Tens of millions of views. Not only did I love it, it was my destiny, brother. I wouldn't have a kid and a wife with that without the interview because I'm a very unique character. That's. That's.
Daniel Cormier
Yes, you are, Bryce. A nice way of saying, yes, you are, right?
Bryce Mitchell
There is nobody that Would.
Daniel Cormier
She must not. You might. You must not have wrapped before she married you.
Bryce Mitchell
Oh, no, she likes to rap.
Daniel Cormier
No, she does.
Bryce Mitchell
She gets down.
Daniel Cormier
Get out of here.
Bryce Mitchell
She loves it.
Daniel Cormier
Come on.
Bryce Mitchell
Right? She can cook, she can clean. Everything in between.
Daniel Cormier
Really?
Bryce Mitchell
Yes, brother, I'm telling you, she's a 10 out of 10. And I cannot even tell you how perfect this woman is. And we would have never met if I didn't go on Tucker Carlson, but at that point in my life, I was praying for a wife. I was literally just saying, God, please give me a wife, because if not, I'm in trouble. You know what I mean?
Daniel Cormier
Why, though? Why in trouble?
Bryce Mitchell
Just because. That's just my lifestyle was. All these stupid women had my attention, you know? And then I met her, and, dude, she two became one, brother. I mean, it's. That's a perfect example of two becoming one. And it's. I'm. Till death do his part. She ain't leaving me. I ain't living.
Daniel Cormier
What do you mean, no?
Bryce Mitchell
We signed them damn papers. I'm telling you, bro, she's. She's mine forever now. And. But there's nobody else that would do what she's done for me. And we only met because that interview. And, dude, that's how God works.
Daniel Cormier
You went on Tucker Carlson and you met your wife because of it?
Bryce Mitchell
Absolutely. She messaged me on Instagram after that and said, hey, I seen you on Tucker Carlson, and we started talking.
Daniel Cormier
So you were. You. You became famous, I guess, a little bit.
Bryce Mitchell
Yeah.
Daniel Cormier
But you have very strong beliefs in all that. Right. Like you said, you love talking politics. You love.
Bryce Mitchell
Absolutely.
Daniel Cormier
Because that can be a bit intimidating, right, to go into that arena that you're not really, you know, you're not a. Trained for it, Equipped for it. Right. Like, to go into that arena, that can be very difficult.
Bryce Mitchell
Absolutely. You're 100% right. Because from the outside, people say, hey, you're just a brain damage, stupid farmer, stupid fighter. What do you know about politics? Do you know what I say? They like my tax dollars. After I fight my ass off, they'll take my taxes. So if I pay my taxes to these greedy sons of bitches, they're gonna have to put up with my opinions. Now if they stop taking my taxes and leave me alone, and I don't have to go by their rules, then fine, you can do your politics. But when you impose your rules and your taxes on me, buddy, you're going to hear my mouth, Bryce.
Daniel Cormier
But when you have an opinion, at times it can alienate an Entire section of people depending on what.
Bryce Mitchell
You got to be specific here.
Daniel Cormier
No, I'm just saying, like, it's like if you. When you're on Tucker Carlson and you're talking, there's a whole nother side of the world that goes, I don't like this guy because he's with Tucker Carlson. See, so what I have done, what I have done in my career is I've completely steered away from politics. Right. Because you could never make everybody happy. That just doesn't matter to you.
Bryce Mitchell
That's right. Well, the truth is what matters. Not making people happy. To me, the truth is what matters. And I believe with all my heart that I'm proclaiming the truth when I say our government's corrupted. And I give you exact examples. You're right. Not everybody's going to like me because of that. But to me, it's not about people liking me. It's about me saying the truth to help bring freedom to this country that I love, that I would die for. Because it's like, I'm not ever going to get to be great and serve this country in the military, the armed forces. But how can I fight for this country? I can come up here with no fear and say what I believe needs to be said. And that's how I fight for our country. And if these communist bastards come in, if they come to this country, I will gladly fight these communist bastards. But until then, I don't get a chance to fight for our country. So I get to speak my mind.
Daniel Cormier
What's up, guys? UFC310 is on the horizon, and, boy, do we have some big fights coming to you from Vegas. Daniel Cormier
Bryce, you're fighting Cron Gracie this weekend.
Bryce Mitchell
Yes, sir.
Daniel Cormier
Right. When you look at him as. I mean, we did six and a half minutes on you talking about just random stuff, and that's why you're awesome, right? Because you talk about the fighting, because that's what you are, but you're so much bigger. But you and Corne Gracie are fighting this weekend. When you break him down, like, when you look at him like you're a grappler, he's a grappler, does that excite you or do you go, well, I know you're a grappler, but I'm a better striker. I can do much more in mixed martial arts, and that's what's going to allow me to win this fight.
Bryce Mitchell
I do believe that I'm more well rounded, and I have to prove it on Saturday, but I can't exactly give you the game plan away. But I will say I'm not scared anywhere the fight goes. And I'm thoroughly excited about this fight, and it's the most grateful I've been in a long time. You know, coming off of a loss, I just have come back with this sense of gratitude, just basically waking up every day thanking God, hey, I'm so glad I get to do this, because a couple more losses like that, you're done.
Daniel Cormier
I remember when you were on the show, you just wanted to get here.
Bryce Mitchell
Yeah.
Daniel Cormier
It was like, man, if we could ever get into the ufc.
Bryce Mitchell
Yeah.
Daniel Cormier
And now you're, like, embedded in it. You fought the champion, Ilya Topori. You've seen the top of the division. Looking back on that today, how much can you apply all those lessons learned to what you're trying to build for the future?
Bryce Mitchell
I think every single one of these fights that I had is going to put me exactly where God wants me to be, on this path of prosperity and victory. And like you said, those were all learning lessons. And I just feel like I'm totally better than I ever have been. And I think every fighter should feel like that, but that's how I feel.
Daniel Cormier
Yeah, it's gonna be an amazing fight. Absolutely. You And Chrome Gracie, like, if you can grapple and control him in the way that you did, because you've had some insane. Remember when you got that twister? That was nuts. Like, you were riding the guy. You were riding the guy, like, the whole time. And you could just see. You never fight him on the ground, though. Like, when the guy wants to go left. Okay, I'll take you there. If you want to go right, I'll take you there. Like, it really is great to watch how you've improved on the ground.
Bryce Mitchell
Absolutely. I mean, in that fight, specifically the Roses fight that you called, if you put me today back into that fight, I can finish that fight. Now, there's some things I would have done differently. So every fight I'm learning, I'm getting better. And even these losses, I'm telling you, brother, they put me where I need to be. And also, too, even though I am coming off of a loss, there's been so much victory in my personal life.
Daniel Cormier
Yeah. Yeah.
Bryce Mitchell
I don't feel like a loser, even though on paper I know I am.
Daniel Cormier
Tucker. Tucker makes you feel like a winner.
Bryce Mitchell
That's what I'm saying, brother. I feel like a winner.
Daniel Cormier
When you have a family.
Bryce Mitchell
Yep.
Daniel Cormier
Guys, Bryce Mitchell fights Crow and Gracie this weekend at UFC310. Doug Nasty.
Bryce Mitchell
God bless y'all, bro.
Daniel Cormier
