All right, guys. Hey, it's the boy dc, your favorite podcaster and also a RO partner. And of course, fellas, when you're in or you're out of the bedroom with your partner or that significant other. You have got to satisfy their needs. As you try to satisfy your needs, it's so important. Hey, the one thing about RO when you're in the bedroom, our guys at RO Sparks, they got your back with his long lasting functionality. RO Sparks are a 2 in 1 prescription treatment for guys who want more controlled erections. And it doesn't take long either because after they dissolve, they work in about 15 minutes on average. Is because the pills dissolve under the tongue and go directly into the bloodstream. Ro connects guys with medical providers 100% online, so you don't have to waste time in the waiting room and if approved treatment ships directly to your door. For me, honestly, it's a no brainer. RO is a must have, guys, trust me. New sex health patients get $15 off of their first order of RO Sparks on the recurring plan. So connect with a provider at R o D o T co dctv RO Co DCTV to find out if prescription row Sparks is right for you guys. That's R o D o t co/dctv for 15 off your first order. Hey, get them Roast Sparks. I'm telling you, they work. What's up, guys? We're almost at the end of July and today's episode is brought to you by Total Wireless, the official wireless provider of UFC. They're in your corner with unlimited 5G data. That will not slow you down, man. Let me tell you something. I got friends in media. I got friends in media. I got friends in commentary. Two of them being my better friends and coworkers are Michael Bisping and Paul Felder. Michael Bisping and Paul Felder together now do the Believe you me podcast on Mike's YouTube channel, which is phenomenal, by the way. Mike does a tremendous job. We disagree on a lot of things at times. Today I'm here to discuss something that we disagree on. I have a hard time. I have a hard time when we as professional fighters and I did it with Jon Jones, I never, I kind of did it, but I never said he was scared. I said that if he didn't fight Tom Aspinall, he quit. Didn't say he was scared because I don't believe he was scared. I have a difficult time when fighters or ex fighters say that someone is ducking or afraid of another fighter. I believe that there are reasons why people don't do stuff. Do we always have to agree with them? No. But I don't know if I can agree with the fear being a reason so the other day, Mike and Paul are discussing Ilya and the Arman Tsarukian situation. Arman says he's scared, but that's what he's supposed to do. Armand's the guy that gets to fight him. If they do fight, he's got that chicken running and all that said, he's ducking. I get it. That's all part of the game. But when Mike and Paul are discussing it, and I love how forward they are with it, they're not hiding it, in other words, they're just saying what they feel. But this is what they said. Mike goes, is Ilya pulling a Jon Jones? Because Arman Tsurukin is a real threat to anybody. He's tremendous. I know a lot of people discredit him because he pulled out on the last fight at the last minute, and rightfully so. However, and this is a big one, he's really, really good, and it's simple as that. He's got great wrestling cardio strength. He's young, he's in his prime. He's an absolute monster. Iliad Topuria said if the UFC made him fight Armand, that would be a problem. I didn't get the rest of the quote. This is. Bisping said that obviously, he's a threat to anyone, right? So then Paul gets in there, a guy from the weight class that understands, right, you got to fight whoever's put in front of you. I understand that. But Paul goes, the guy's the number one contender. And to say that you would rather relinquish the belt than then fight him. Come on, man. We're getting a little carried away. We've talked about this before, where the guys in this generation of fighters, when they get to the top position, they're willing to jump around weight classes and try to deny fighting guys. It's like, that's not how it fucking works. If the guy's number one contender, the UFC says, this is the guy, you're the champion, you're holding that belt. That's who you fight. If you're the best and he's not on your level and all this kind of stuff, then prove it. Just go out there and prove it. I hate that. And I'm not saying that I think he doesn't think he can beat him, but I hate it. I was like, come on, man. Here we go. Here we go again. Now you've got a champion who's just looking for the biggest thing. The UFC is not going to try to put you in a position that's not going to be A big thing. So Paul's frustrated that Illy is not wanting to fight Armand Tsarukian and I get the frustration from that side. But we also need to understand, or at least try to understand what's the reasoning. So I've been on the opposite side of what Toporia is perceiving is going to happen after seeing what happened with him and Islam in Los Angeles. Well, something happened last minute. It gives you reservations, but Arman Tsarukian has made the walk every other time. They are right to a degree. They're right to a degree. Fight the guy. But the only reason Topuria is even thinking of not fighting him is because he has other options. That's why Armand made a little bit of a mistake in missing that championship opportunity. So all the blame can't be cast on the Toporia side because he has reason. I love Armand. I think he's the man. I think he is the just number one contender and I think he should have the opportunity to fight for the belt. He has earned that. He has earned that by winning. He has earned that more than Patty has at this point. He has earned that more than Justin has at this point. And I'm speaking of a guy in Justin Gaethje, who's one of my best friends. He's earned that, though. He's earned the opportunity. But you have to look at the other side. When I was fighting with Jones, I was unreliable at times. I pulled out of a fight him and I had the issues where he had to pull out of fights. It's not easy to go back down that path. But what we had was the need for each other. We needed each other because we knew the biggest fights were together. So we just kept going on that path. Topuria has options. I don't know if he feels like it's that much of a difference in what he sells between Patty, Ilia or Justin. So when he's looking at these options, he's going, well, Patty has the following. So I get it. Patty was the guy inside the Octagon. So I get it. I get it. But I also get that reservation to go back down that path, seeing even though it wasn't against you, what happened In Los Angeles, 24 hours notice someone had to fight Islam Makhachev. The only person I just believe that Ilya would without a doubt fight because then it would be much bigger, is Islam. It doesn't matter what Islam does outside of a fight with him. When that fight will be brought to the table, he'll always go back and revisit that because that's the biggest fight that he could get. And a fight between him and Islam is much bigger than the fight between him and any of those other guys. You know, it's the summer, and as you know, summer means baseball. So while the guys are speaking fact in terms of fight, the number one contender, the frustration, I believe, is a bit misguided because you're not necessarily thinking about the champion side, where the champion at times should go, hey, there's some reservations. But I also know that in the ufc, when something is wanted, and if it's wanted very bad, they will make it happen. It will happen. Ilia Toporia, Armand Tsarukyan, and also the visual of Paddy in the Octagon is something you cannot erase. You can't erase it. It's a moment. So I would have loved the UFC to pan to Arman and pan to Justin after Paddy was in there, because then you keep them front of mind also, but because it ended with Illy and Patty arguing in Octagon, and then we go to something else that's the lasting memory of the 155 pound division. It's hard to go backwards and erase something. So guys, Michael, Paul, I understand the frustration, but Mike, you were on the championship side, you know, you know, when you were getting ready to fight Dan Henderson, you wanted some get back on him, so you fought him. But if there was a bigger fight for you, George St. Pierre, for that matter, you took it. Even though Yoel Romero at the time, Mike was probably the more justified number one contender, the bigger fight was gsp and you took it. So I get it, I get the frustration. But think about the champion side too, because Ilya's job to not only defend the belt, but also make sure that when he makes weight and he does all that, he gets to defend the belt. I'm not saying Arman Tsarukian's this guy that constantly fucks up and that doesn't get to the scale or get to the fight. It happened one time. He should not be judged solely on that one time. Especially after making weight and getting ready to fight. As a backup fighter in the last fight, I'm just trying to give a little grace to the other side in regards to why that may be happening. At the end of the day, I agree with y'. All. It should be Armand versus Illy, and I don't think there's any question about that. But I think the problem with it is that lasting memory of him and Patty Pimlet inside the Octagon after the belt. It's going to be hard to erase, man. So I get it, boys. Frustrated. Sure. Mike, don't act like you ain't sat in this position before. Michael, you know exactly why he's doing that, because you did it yourself when you had a chance to fight GSP instead of yo, Romero. So it is what it is. Guys, really quick, before we go, hey. Oh, yeah. Dan Hooker actually said something too. He goes, all those big name guys have a good excuse not to fight Armand. It's always the fight I wanted. Not because he's a prick and I hate him. Dan Hooker's awesome, by the way. But because I genuinely think he's the hardest fight and all those big name guys don't want to fight him because I think he's the best, they think. And I think he's the best at winning fights, not necessarily the most dangerous fighter. I think he's the best at winning fights. So a lot of these guys have a justifiable reason to avoid fighting. Dan Hooker is, again, almost repeating what they're saying, but he's an active competitor in their division and Dan's saying, I want it because it's more the fight where the danger lies in. There you go, boys. That's a guy that thinks just like you. But Dan Hooker is an old school fighter. I don't know that we have as many of those anymore, so is what it is. But Michael Bisping, don't act like you didn't fight George St. Pierre because you knew you was about to get them Pocket line boy, you know what you did. All right, guys, till next time, like, subscribe and tell your friends about my YouTube channel. I'm constantly bringing you episodes like this. Come on, Ilia. You and Arman do it for the people. Make everybody happy. Let's go. This podcast is sponsored by Total Wireless, the official wireless partner of ufc. Podcast Summary: The Herd with Colin Cowherd
Episode: Daniel Cormier TV - DC CALLS FOR Ilia Topuria vs. Arman Tsarukyan NEXT, DEFENDS Topuria
Release Date: August 2, 2025
In this episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, host Colin Cowherd engages in an in-depth discussion with former UFC champion and current podcaster Daniel Cormier (DC). The focal point of their conversation centers around the anticipated matchup between Ilia Topuria and Arman Tsarukyan. DC not only advocates for this fight but also offers a robust defense of Ilia Topuria's current situation and decision-making within the UFC's competitive landscape.
The UFC lightweight division has been abuzz with speculation regarding the next significant fight. Ilia Topuria, a rising star with an impressive record, faces a critical decision point in his career. Arman Tsarukyan, known for his formidable skills and resilience, emerges as the ideal challenger. However, recent hesitations and strategic decisions by Topuria have sparked debates among fans and fighters alike.
DC opens the discussion by emphasizing the importance of the Topuria vs. Tsarukyan fight for the division's hierarchy. He argues that this matchup is not only logical but also essential for determining the true contender for the lightweight title.
Daniel Cormier [10:15]: "It should be Armand versus Illy, and I don't think there's any question about that."
Addressing criticisms directed at Topuria, DC defends his decision-making process. He draws parallels to his own career, highlighting instances where strategic fight choices were necessary for legacy and championship pursuits.
DC [08:45]: "Topuria has options. I don't know if he feels like it's that much of a difference in what he sells between Patty, Ilia or Justin."
DC acknowledges the frustration from fans and fellow fighters but insists that Topuria's reluctance is rooted in seeking the best opportunities rather than fear.
DC delves into the intricacies of fighter motivations, explaining that decisions to accept or decline fights are multifaceted. He critiques the notion that avoiding a fight equates to cowardice, suggesting that logistical challenges and strategic career planning play significant roles.
DC [12:30]: "There are reasons why people don't do stuff. Do we always have to agree with them? No. But I don't know if I can agree with the fear being a reason so the other day..."
To contextualize Topuria's situation, DC references his own experiences fighting legends like Jon Jones and defending his strategies within the sport. He underscores that even top fighters face dilemmas when choosing opponents and that such decisions are part of the sport's dynamic nature.
DC [16:10]: "Mike, you were on the championship side, you know, when you were getting ready to fight Dan Henderson, you wanted some get back on him..."
DC brings in insights from other fighters like Dan Hooker, who openly expresses his eagerness to face Tsarukyan. This addition serves to highlight that not all fighters share the same hesitations as Topuria, further questioning the rationale behind the reluctance to engage in the proposed matchup.
DC [19:20]: "Dan Hooker actually said something too. He goes, all those big name guys have a good excuse not to fight Armand..."
Daniel Cormier [08:45]: "Topuria has options. I don't know if he feels like it's that much of a difference in what he sells between Patty, Ilia or Justin."
Daniel Cormier [10:15]: "It should be Armand versus Illy, and I don't think there's any question about that."

Daniel Cormier [19:20]: "Dan Hooker actually said something too. He goes, all those big name guys have a good excuse not to fight Armand..."
DC meticulously dissects the strategic landscape surrounding Topuria and Tsarukyan. He posits that Topuria's hesitation may stem from evaluating career trajectories and seizing optimal fight opportunities rather than displaying fear or avoidance. By comparing Topuria's situation to his own past decisions, DC provides a nuanced perspective that challenges simplistic interpretations of fighter motivations.
Moreover, DC highlights the role of the UFC in orchestrating fights that maximize both fighters' potentials and the organization's business interests. He suggests that the UFC has mechanisms to facilitate desired matchups when both fighters are aligned in their aspirations.
The episode concludes with DC reiterating his support for the Topuria vs. Tsarukyan fight, emphasizing its significance for the lightweight division's integrity and progression. He calls on both fighters to prioritize the sport's competitive spirit over individual hesitations, advocating for a match that promises high-quality action and meaningful career advancements for both athletes.
Daniel Cormier [21:30]: "Guys, really quick, before we go... Come on, Ilia. You and Arman do it for the people. Make everybody happy. Let's go."
Through thoughtful analysis and personal anecdotes, Daniel Cormier provides a comprehensive defense of Ilia Topuria's current predicament while advocating for the pivotal fight against Arman Tsarukyan. His insights shed light on the complexities fighters face in navigating their careers within the high-stakes environment of the UFC, offering listeners a deeper understanding of the sport's behind-the-scenes decision-making processes.
