Merab Dvalishvili
You got a question for me?
Umar Nurmagomedov
No, I just have a big respect for you.
Merab Dvalishvili
You want to ask me for your shirt?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Let's show this guy.
Merab Dvalishvili
Say something about his shirt.
Umar Nurmagomedov
He made his guys special.
Merab Dvalishvili
I mean, he didn't make stop. I mean, I mean, I mean, you think I Made shirts.
Umar Nurmagomedov
I don't know if I'll just say you made.
Merab Dvalishvili
So you're just gonna believe Aljo? He's a liar, man. He sells alcohol.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah.
Merab Dvalishvili
This guy sells alcohol. You want to trust a guy that sells alcohol?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, but it's a natural alcohol.
Merab Dvalishvili
No, no, no, no. You bad people sell alcohol.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Some people need something. Some people need alcohol to relax. Like Al drinks. Alcohol is. Let's go. My coach, John Wood, drinks. Alcohol is good.
Merab Dvalishvili
Hey, whenever we were at your house, getting ready to leave, we give toast, you know?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah. Yeah.
Merab Dvalishvili
20 times. Best toast of my life. Toast you. I toast, he toast. And we toast again. Many, many times. We toast, huh?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Respect, brother.
Merab Dvalishvili
Respect my guy.
Umar Nurmagomedov
We have to take this in. Georgiana. He will see.
Merab Dvalishvili
Oh, my God.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Real. Real.
Merab Dvalishvili
Your friend sent me. Showed me a video of food. It's like bread. Inside the bread is egg with cheese.
Umar Nurmagomedov
It's good. So it's a good one? Very good. Okay. Actually, we can make this one in Las Vegas.
Merab Dvalishvili
No, no. Last time I have the pancake.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, but no, no, I said I can.
Merab Dvalishvili
You know how to make this?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah. When you come with us, I will make it for you.
Merab Dvalishvili
The one with the bread? Yeah, because he said you take the bread, take out dip in the egg with the cheese.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yes.
Merab Dvalishvili
It's very good.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Very good.
Merab Dvalishvili
Has Aljo had this?
Umar Nurmagomedov
He don't like eggs. He like different style. Different style Khachapuri. There is many style Khachapuri, but he don't like with X Khajapuri. But you would love it. It's good, brother. This is the best. Yes.
Merab Dvalishvili
Really?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah.
Merab Dvalishvili
Nice.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah.
Merab Dvalishvili
I was talking to your friend. He was at the house when I went too. It's him. He's the guy that edits your videos.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yes.
Merab Dvalishvili
Thanks for checking in with me again.
Umar Nurmagomedov
My pleasure.
Merab Dvalishvili
Marag Dualish Willie fight this week in UFC311. Defends his championship against Umar and Omega Medov. Yes, sir. It's an odd one, right? This one, this fight, because it was something that it didn't seem like you expected it to be Umar right now. Why? Why? Why is that?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Why? Because I said after I win title against Sean O'Malley, I go, Georgia. And I said, what's the noise?
Merab Dvalishvili
Oh, it's mine. Yeah, yeah, TikTok. Oh, it's mine. Yeah. Maybe I can submit.
Umar Nurmagomedov
So when I win the belt in September, I go straight to Georgia. And in press conference, journalists asked me when I was willing to come back and fight again and who should be my next opponent. I said, my next opponent should be Maybe Umar Nurmagomedo. But I would like to come back either February or March, and I will be ready.
Merab Dvalishvili
Yeah.
Umar Nurmagomedov
And. And the Umar tweet disrespect me again. And he say, I don't know. He called me so many bad words. Coward, something.
Daniel Cormier
Really.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, Yeah. I don't even speak this much good English to repeat all these bad words. And he said, merab, you know, February fight is in Australia. UFC not gonna make us fight there, but March is Ramadan. Oh, you ducking with me? You running away from me? But I had no idea the Ramadan was in March, because last year Ramadan was in May. And especially it was like it should be March, six months from after my title win. And so I wanted to fight March and then, I guess, and then Umar book fight with Song Gi Dong. I thought he was fighting with Song Gi Dong. And since Umar wasn't able to fight in March, I can fight next contender, winner of Figueroa or Peter Yan or if Sean O'Malley wants rematch. And. But. So. But UFC need me to fight in January, I step up. I'm a company man. I said, let's go.
Merab Dvalishvili
Yeah, that's big. And that's a big fight, right? You versus him. It seems Murab, in most instances, you don't have, like, these types of interactions with your opponents. I was speaking to Umar earlier, and I said, well, why doesn't Rob act like it seems like he doesn't like you? He said, well, ask him why he doesn't like me. He said, I don't know. But he said to me that you. I said, you're very respectful in the build. But he said, not necessarily, because against Petr Yan, you spoke a lot of trash about him.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yes.
Merab Dvalishvili
So why. Why do you like having that chaos in a fight?
Umar Nurmagomedov
I don't like having chaos or any. Any drama, you know, like, I. As you see, with O'Malley, I was. I had fun. I was laughing. And with Peter Yani, he was disrespectful. He don't even want to face off with me. He don't even want to talk, shake hands, stuff like that. And he was. He was acting weird. And I do have a beef because he called me zero and he was talking trash with me with Aljo, and he broke the rules. Like, he. He don't even know how to fight because, you know, when fighter is on the ground, he throw knee against my. My brother. And this is, you know, everything else he was. He was. They were trolling us, you know, like. And yeah, Peter I don't like him before. Now I'm okay, you know, I'm okay with him, but I don't like this drama, you know, I mean, but do.
Merab Dvalishvili
You even like, can you even say that you dislike this guy Umar?
Umar Nurmagomedov
So I was very cool with Umar and I, it seems like you guys.
Merab Dvalishvili
Would get along great, like just knowing both of you.
Umar Nurmagomedov
So I was always cool with Umar. I always show him my respect and then we always say hello and everything else but. And he called me paid champion, but I'm not paid champion. I earned it to be champion. And he tried disrespect me so many times online, you know, and he even like, I'm sure you saw some clips too. He even was trying to everything to disrespect. He even say, oh, Mera will pull out. I won't be surprised if Mara pull out and stuff like this. And bro, just, just you don't have UFC already give you this favor to fighting debut guys. And from debut guys fighting number two without any good contender and then because of you beat number two, they give you a title fight. And don't disrespect me because I don't disrespect you. Then don't blame on me. If Jorgen Jordan asked me, oh, you're going to fight with Umar Nurmagomedo, I said, I have to talk Dana White first. I want to have a nice conversation with Dana White first because before the media always ask Dana White some crazy questions about me. And I wanted to, you know, have a good relationship with Denna. And then if Denna say, hey, you have to fight Umar, of course I will say, yeah, you know, because now I'm a champion. I don't want to say. And then who knows, maybe Umar is next or who, who knows who is next, you know, because Umar pull out three times before. And why have to promote Umar? Umar already is promoted and I don't have to talk about Umar. Umar, yeah, Umar, he can't talk about me, but respectful way because I deserve respect. And then that was my problem. But, and then when I saw him in person, I tell him, why you disrespect me, Omar? And he said, because I want it. What are you gonna do about it? And press conference 30 minutes later he said, I never disrespect you. I never disrespect your country. But even I just saw another clip, he's saying, yeah, I did bully Merab. I did talk trash about Merab. I don't understand. If you ask them, they not Talking trash. They are very respectful. But you know, they always make fun of it. They always do crazy stuff, you know, they like normal like us. Yeah, but in papers and all they ask them, oh, they different, you know. Okay. No, I respect Khabib's team a lot. Only probably my hair is too much.
Merab Dvalishvili
Yeah. Murab, speaking of your last couple, your last fight, his last fight. 1. Were you, were you happy with the performance looking back on it against O'Malley? And what did you take from that fight where Umar fought Corey Sandhagen and became the number one contender? When you were studying him, what did you see that you think that you guys could take advantage of.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Say one more time?
Merab Dvalishvili
Were you happy with your performance and what did you think of his last performance against Sanhagen?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, I beat Sean O'Malley. Sean O'Malley was champion.
Merab Dvalishvili
And was that a hard fight?
Umar Nurmagomedov
No, no hard fight. But he has a knockout power. He can knock out everybody, you know, Anybody, you know, not everybody. Yeah, if he landed you, he will knock you out. So that was risky fight for sure. But we have a great, great training camp and good plans and. And yeah, I beat him easy way and wasn't hard to watch Umar's fight. Yeah, he did, he did good against Corey Sanhegan and he beat number two guy. And then, and then, you know, Umar is good fighter, well rounded. You know, he can wrestling, can do grappling and you know, he's a good striker also. And yeah, that was just one good fight against a ranked opponent.
Merab Dvalishvili
You think that he should have fought more guys to get to the title fight?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yes, yes. At least one more. Like with like he was supposed to fight Song Gi Dong and then. Yes, bro, just fight Song Gidong. Stay busy and don't pull out and just prove it like the rest of us, you know, like we deserve it. And like, you know, that. That's, that's. That was my thing.
Merab Dvalishvili
How has your life changed since you became the champion?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Life? Not much. I'm still same guy. I'm still living same house and I still have same people around me. But of course I get so much respect, so much love, so much support as I'm a champion. And you know, like now I am. How you say? Move, work. I mean the. You guys. What's the call? You guys?
Merab Dvalishvili
Aljo.
Umar Nurmagomedov
No, no, Aljo. That can be translated aljo.
Merab Dvalishvili
Translate this.
Umar Nurmagomedov
No, he's in our what, world Room, maybe, right?
Merab Dvalishvili
Maybe room like Rome. Like you are now champion with everybody else.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, yeah. So you're a great champion. But I'm a champion too. You know what I'm saying? So I'm in the, I'm in the room with you.
Merab Dvalishvili
Same category.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Merab Dvalishvili
So this is, you know, when I went to your house after the fight and you were running the next day. It tells me how much you live this life of a champion. What would it mean to you to beat a guy in Umar and Omega middle that's undefeated? That is, you know, it's almost like, it's almost like he's the champion. Right. The way people talk.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Right.
Merab Dvalishvili
It's almost like he's the champion. What would it mean to you to stop and shut all that up and keep your belt? Because ultimately it's always about keeping the belt.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Right, right. You're right. He made good point with that. Yeah, exactly. I'm focused on win this fight and people will realize again because people doubted me even before Sean O'Malley's fight, even before Henry Cejudu's fight, before Peter Yan's fight. And I mean I was underdog many times but, but all I have to, I, I want to just, just win for my friends, my team and people will realize.
Merab Dvalishvili
Is he the underdog? Are you the underdog?
Umar Nurmagomedov
I am under the. Yeah, I'm a big underdog. He's minus 300.
Merab Dvalishvili
Minus 300.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Big underdog.
Merab Dvalishvili
That's crazy.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah.
Merab Dvalishvili
That serves as motivational. Right. Listen, I was an underdog fighting Anthony Johnson two times.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Interesting.
Merab Dvalishvili
And it was really like motivating for me to train harder and be like, I'm gonna shut everybody up. I was the champion and I was the underdog.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah. Interesting. But no, it's not. This is, I don't pay attention this because there is so many people, they have own opinions and especially Umar's fans are acting crazy. I have to block so many people every day to like because they, they just disrespect me, man. Yeah. And then. Yeah, I'm just focusing myself.
Merab Dvalishvili
Yeah.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Under dove because I don't, I don't, I don't, I'm not focused of these people and this. Who makes ads and stuff like this. Because Thunder Day, they don't fight, they.
Merab Dvalishvili
Don'T go in the octagon.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, exactly. You know, and then, you know, not. Yeah. So this is what matter is I have to show up and I believe hard work. I was working hard and I believe hard work will pay off and I will be winner January 18th.
Merab Dvalishvili
What does the perfect fight look like, Murab? Like you just taking him down over and over. Like what is like the perfect fight because I've seen you almost render guys helpless, right? Like, you shot so many times with Pierre Yan that it looked like he was almost, like, watching the clock to see when the time would run out so he didn't have to defend takedowns anymore. Or would, like, the perfect night end with you beating him in the striking?
Umar Nurmagomedov
Perfect night will be punch his face matches, like, a lot of punches in the face, damage in the head.
Merab Dvalishvili
Last one before I let you go. So I follow you on Instagram. I think you're, like, insanely. I think you're, like, insanely funny. I like when you were slapping that girl's ass. He said, hey, can I touch this?
Umar Nurmagomedov
I asked permission. I asked permission.
Merab Dvalishvili
She's porking in front of you.
Umar Nurmagomedov
That's me. I will ask if I get permission, then I can. I have a.
Merab Dvalishvili
Where are they? Can I touch this? Bow, Bow, bow. That was so funny, dude. When I saw you outside of the piano one time, like, you got locked out. Like, you got locked out of the PI.
Umar Nurmagomedov
That happened multiple times this training camp.
Merab Dvalishvili
Multiple times. Exactly.
Umar Nurmagomedov
That was first time when I posted, but it happened after this.
Merab Dvalishvili
What does the UFC said to you about this? Just like, saying to the PI, like, want to make sure y'all separate.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Security told me, hey, I'm sorry, man. We love you, but Umar is inside. We can let you in. I'm like, bro, I have injury. I have appointment. I have.
Merab Dvalishvili
They don't give you guys, like, appointment times in terms of, like, when you can go?
Umar Nurmagomedov
He can usually. How it is this? You know, I Training. Training. I. I finish training at synthetic at 1pm and right after training, I go to PI.
Merab Dvalishvili
Shower treatment.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah. Yeah. If I want, like, what's it called? Recovery.
Merab Dvalishvili
Recovery.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, Stuff like this. Yeah. And then. Or maybe nighttime training after. But now every time. Not every time, but a couple times, Umar was there, and the security, I guess there was a prey to something.
Merab Dvalishvili
Like, y'all might fight. Yeah, but you don't get paid to fight in PI.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, PI. Yeah, PI. Respect PI also a lot. And. But I was. At that time, I. I was really mad about Umar and so you were.
Merab Dvalishvili
Gonna fight at the PI. Social Security made the right choice by not letting you in. The security actually did the right thing.
Umar Nurmagomedov
Yeah, but I still. I still. I was still feel disrespectful. They don't let me. It's okay.
Merab Dvalishvili

Merab Dvalishvili
The last time we spoke, we made. We spoke about wrestling, right? Navis is going to play a big part in this fight, as it always does when Islam Mahach fights or when you fight and you started, you were specific. Freestyle wrestling. Freestyle wrestling. I always gave you shit about how you would say freestyle wrestling. What makes you. Why do you feel that that side of the wrestling is better for mixed martial arts or make you more well.
Daniel Cormier
Equipped for mixed martial arts freestyle wrestling? Because like a Sport. Yeah, the best sport, like, for the MMA fighter, because you're. When you come in from the freestyle wrestling, you're strong, you're explosive. You know, you can wrestle. We just need a little bit box and, like, how. Know how to defend some. Some missions, you know.
Merab Dvalishvili
How quick after your fight with Charles Oliveira, did you know that you would get this fight.
Daniel Cormier
Right away? They told me to fight in.
Merab Dvalishvili
In June.
Daniel Cormier
Yeah. Yeah. And I.
Merab Dvalishvili
Were you hurt?
Daniel Cormier
No, I had, like, six weeks after the fight.
Merab Dvalishvili
You want to give yourself?
Daniel Cormier
Yeah, I wanted to, like, have a good training camp, like, get ready, you know. Well, and. And because I was number one, why I should take. Take the risk, you know, and now I'm ready for. For the fight.
Merab Dvalishvili
Were you worried at all, though, when, like, Dustin Poirier stepped in? Because there's something to beating guys, right? But there's also something to beating a guy that's a dominant champion, like Islam Mahacha. Were you a little worried, like, man, what if that moment ends up being taken by Dustin Poirier?
Daniel Cormier
No, I was okay because I knew, like, I'm gonna fight next with the winner, so I was okay. If it's Dustin. Dustin. If it's Islam, the same, you know.
Merab Dvalishvili
When you watched that fight, it felt like people were saying, Dustin did really well because he defended takedowns, and I think he cut Islam. Right. Did you feel like that was a competitive fight, or did you feel like Makhachev was out ahead of him and he, you know, getting judged a bit unfairly?
Daniel Cormier
No, it was competitive fight was. Doesn't look good. And he caught him. He. He, like, he did damage to him. And just around number five, he got tired, you know, and gave his neck.
Merab Dvalishvili
So what can you take from that fight and apply to your fight?
Daniel Cormier
We were a little bit different fighters. You know, he had a different game plan. He just thought about his defender of wrestling and striking. But, like, I'm like, I have a different game plan. I can wrestle, you know, I'm not just defending wrestling.
Merab Dvalishvili
You were able to offensively wrestle with Islam in the first fight.
Daniel Cormier
Yeah.
Merab Dvalishvili
How much difference is the preparation going to be? Because the last fight was on very short notice, right?
Daniel Cormier
Yeah.
Merab Dvalishvili
And how old were you? Like, 21 years old?
Daniel Cormier
22.
Merab Dvalishvili
22 years old. No fight camp. How much different is this preparation opposed to that one? And also, Armand, how much confidence does it give you to know that in the first fight you were able to find success, you were able to secure takedowns, and you weren't able to train and prepare the right way for that fight?
Daniel Cormier
Yeah. Of course. When you have a whole training camp, you cut weight very well, you don't worry about anything. It's just your super confident because you did all, all things what you gotta do. So you. I did exactly my like diet, you know. Exactly. My training camp, like trainings like follow rules that I gotta do and that gives me, that gives me a lot of like confidence, you know, and, and I know like I'm not watching the last fight, you know, like to say, oh, I, I look good that fight.
Merab Dvalishvili
Yeah.
Daniel Cormier
I'm just a new version of Armand Sorrican and I want to show a new fight.
Merab Dvalishvili
So you didn't even watch the first fight?
Daniel Cormier
No, I watched like when like someone asked me, just. I know what happened there.
Merab Dvalishvili
Yeah, but you don't use it as preparation. Like being in the Octagon, you could learn something.
Daniel Cormier
I was completely different fighter. It don't make sense. I just, I just watch where I was weak and what position I was bad. I, I just work a lot on my wrestling and striking.
Merab Dvalishvili
So do you think your willingness to offensively wrestle against him can really be what may be the difference? Yeah, because most don't try to take Islam down. They're just so worried about defending his takedowns that they find themselves kind of like stuck on their back foot. Do you think your willingness to go try to take him down is going to be what will be the difference?
Daniel Cormier
Yeah, yeah, I want to take him down. Yeah, I know I can, I can take him down. And I'm gonna looking for that as well because I know my wrestling. I can take down Olympic champion, you know.
Merab Dvalishvili
Who'd you wrestle with? What Olympic champ did you wrestle with?
Daniel Cormier
Sidakov.
Merab Dvalishvili
You wrestled Sidakov? Wait. Oh, yeah. Because he was in America for a while. He was down in Florida.
Daniel Cormier
No, no, we wrestled in Russia.
Merab Dvalishvili
Oh, in Russia. How much time did you spend with him? He's man, he's the man.
Daniel Cormier
Two weeks.
