It's about an unlikely duo in the 1920s who tried to warn the public that Prohibition was going to backfire so badly it just might leave thousands dead from poison. Nathan King
Well, fill out your bracket now. Get the rules, details, all that good stuff@fox sportsradio.com sponsored by Tractor Supply. For life out there. That's Covino. I'm rich and I am feeling a little rebellious today. Feel like a rebel.
Mel Reid
I'm feeling a little under the weather. I'm feeling like shrieks today. Deflated cheeks is what I feel like.
Nathan King
Breathe on everyone then.
Mel Reid
But when I'm here, it is super fun time. So I'm super pumped about the show. Super pumped to get into some midweek major. We do it every Wednesday, every hump day turning into a hump night. Hope you're having a show. Hey, sort of A day. But we go over the biggest headlines in the world of sports and entertainment. We're going to talk some new stadium treats because baseball's right around the corner. For the rest of us, Dodgers and Cubs fans already having some fun, but we have lots to get to. Austin Reeves. We're going to talk about.
Nathan King
Thinking about how you don't listen.
Mel Reid
What do I. What am I? Not me.
Nathan King
How many times does your me. How many times does your girlfriend or ex wife say. You didn't hear what I said?
Mel Reid
I'm sorry, what'd you say? It happens a lot, actually. It's called selective hearing. Of course, sometimes I select to not hear you.
Nathan King
Well, you did. I said, I'm feeling rebellious. As if that matters. But you didn't realize I was getting to something. You just kept going. I can only imagine how many times your girlfriend's like, yeah, I'm feeling something. And you're like, yeah, that's great. You know, the Yankees, Giancarlo's hurting, so it's Garrett Cole.
Mel Reid
I mean, when I think of you, I always think of rebellious. Would you believe you're the wild guy here on Fox Sports Radio.
Nathan King
Would you believe, for the first time in my life, I was banned for one day from Facebook?
Mel Reid
You and 2 Live Crew. You're a bad boy.
Nathan King
I'm a bad man.
Mel Reid
Banned in the usa.
Nathan King
You know I was banned for posting that stupid picture of John Lennon's ass we talked about yesterday. When I said. When I said the baseball season is a long ass day. Like that funny picture of John Lennon's ass. Would you believe I went to post a happy birthday to an old school pal today? And it's like you have been blocked for, like. Like. Like as if I'm some smut king.
Mel Reid
Oh, you're in Facebook prison. I'm in Facebook prison. That's really cool.
Nathan King
Attica.
Mel Reid
Attica.
Steve Covino
Rebel with a radio.
Mel Reid
Cause you know, you got to be careful. You're the coach of a bunch of little leaguers and softball kids. They're going to find out that Coach Davis is a pervert. Then what are you going to do?
Nathan King
Look at the back of my shirt today. Coach Rich, please. Thank you.
Mel Reid
Coach Rich is banned on Facebook. I wonder why. Oh, nudity. That's why.
Nathan King
You're only supposed to show, like, 75% of the butt crack. Yeah, isn't that, like, the TV rule is, like, you only show 75%.
Mel Reid
Yeah, but John Lennon's is so long, it breaks all the rules.
Nathan King
I couldn't believe that we had. That's 150% of a butt crack. We had that silly conversation yesterday at the end of the show. In fact, we posted a clip about it at Koheno and Richardson.
Mel Reid
Analogy was that the baseball season's a long season, like John Lennon's butt crack. If you've never seen the photo, check our Instagram. And the football season is a real short season, so every game counts. Like Yoko Ono's butt crack in this famous photo again at Covino and Rich. Rich posted it. Now he's the bad guy. Is that why you're the rebel? The loner? Is that why I'm the bad guy?
Nathan King
I feel. Feel rough and tough today.
Mel Reid
Okay.
Nathan King
But I just figured we stupidly ended the show with that yesterday, and that got me banned for the first time in Facebook history.
Mel Reid
Facebook prison, Rich. I know, but it's.
Nathan King
It's really like you're in Facebook county jail. Like, they'll let you out eventually. Like in a day.
Mel Reid
Right?
Nathan King
Food's not good in here. I give you an orange jumpsuit to wear for a little sky. If I feel that way. We. We do have a lot to get to today. Like you said, midweek. Major, some stadium treats Austin Reeves, the Lakers. But we have to talk about your own success versus the team you root day in and day out for. Like, you're a big Yankees guy.
Mel Reid
You.
Nathan King
You were crying yesterday about how you feel like it's bad news and the season hasn't even started yet.
Mel Reid
Yeah, and I'm. I'm not usually that guy. But when your ace goes down and you haven't replaced them, and it doesn't look like you're going to anytime soon. I mean, Garrett Cole's out. How do you win a World Series without your ace pitcher? Seriously, that's.
Nathan King
That's the biggest.
Mel Reid
And that's just part of the story. As we mentioned yesterday, no third baseman because LeMayhue. You're banking on LeMayhue and his tangled tootsies. This guy has feet problems every year. You got no Louise heel, no Rookie of the year. It's another big arm gone, at least for three months, six months. Schmidt's hurt, Jean Carlos Stanton's hurt. Big players hurt. So it's like. It's hard to feel positive. I'm excited that baseball's here and that there's something to watch and something to root for. But it's hard to think more than ever when you got the Dodgers, when you got the Mets and the Phillies and a stacked AL east, that the Yankees have a shot. You just gotta believe that when the star Players go down like that.
Nathan King
I bring this up because a lot of times you wonder, hey, do I care more about my own success or the success of the teams I root for? It's a really like, when you think about it, it sounds like it would be a dumb question, like, of course I care more about my own success.
Mel Reid
I've always said that.
Nathan King
Drago said that.
Mel Reid
I fight for me. Diya Sebiya. I fight for me.
Nathan King
How did we learn that? Was it closed captioning?
Mel Reid
I don't know. You have to imagine that more than ever, people fight for themselves. It's like narcissism has gone rampant since social media became a thing. Everybody's so into themselves. You think people care about anyone else more than themselves? You're out of your mind. Look at these self centered people dancing in front of the mirror all day.
Nathan King
Bunch of weirdos, as you point out.
Mel Reid
Everybody the superstar of their own movie.
Nathan King
As you point out. What are some people's worst qualities everyone else embraces?
Mel Reid
Well, I've said that about myself. What was considered to be my worst quality? Steven's so self centered. I guarantee you, if you ask any of my ex girlfriends, like, Steve's a nice guy, but what a self centered son of a bee. That was my worst quality. However, in today's world, that's the quality that everybody leans the most into and it seems to be okay. It's a terrible way to be. It's something I was trying to fix, but now it just is. Now it's just what everybody is. So I would have to believe that more people today are all about their own personal success than anyone else.
Nathan King
However, I mean, take a look in the stands at any college NFL, NBA game, and we were about to start March Madness. So the question is this, what do you root for more? The success of the team you root for?
Mel Reid
Okay.
Nathan King
Or your own success? And I bring this up because.
Mel Reid
So you're saying, like for me, the Yankees, which we already said, I'm looking, looking. Well, no, I have a season.
Nathan King
I have a great hypothetical for you, but let me set this up.
Mel Reid
Your team or your own personal sort of thing.
Nathan King
I have a perfect hypothetical for a guy like you, but let's start by introducing Ben Stiller, who is on the New Heights podcast. And Ben Stiller, you know who we saw is going to be in Happy Gilmore 2. Oh, your fingers hurt. He's going to be in the second one. We all love Ben Stiller. He's such a Knicks fan that this is what he said to the Kelsey's. Would you rather win an Academy Award or Knicks win the NBA championship?
Mel Reid
Realistically, I think the Knicks winning a championship is in the cards.
AJ Andrews
All right.
Nathan King
All right.
Mel Reid
So I'm definitely down for that. Yeah.
Rich Davis
But if I was for, like, if.
Mel Reid
I was forced, I really think, like, at the end of the day, if I knew that I had the choice, I would give it to the Knicks.
Nathan King
Brings a whole city joy. And to be honest here said, I.
Mel Reid
Mean, from a guy who's had a lot of life success, like, is that award going to change his life? No. So he's like, yeah, I'll take the Knicks victory. So I'm saying it's just easier for him to see that. Rewind a second regular fella, because Bradley.
Nathan King
Cooper, okay, had once said that he cared more about the Eagles winning than any award he could have won. It went. It meant way more to him to see his Eagles win than his own personal accolades. So when you dumb it down, it's.
Mel Reid
Really a question of what brings you more joy when you dumb it down.
Nathan King
Let me give everyone in this room. I've thought of a hypothetical for everyone here. If I said, Steve Covino.
Mel Reid
Yeah, that's me.
Nathan King
What would you rather? More the Yankees win a World Series.
Mel Reid
They haven't done it since 09.
Nathan King
Yankees win a World Series or your daughter's cheerleading squad coming in first place at, like, states.
Mel Reid
That's kind of tough, but not really. Of course I want my daughter to feel what it's like to win and to take some pride in victory and to feel good about herself. And I want her to build confidence. But I don't care that much about her team winning. I care more about my Yankees winning.
Nathan King
You would choose.
Mel Reid
I choose her own personal success. Like, if you said your daughter personally won an award. I could never root against my daughter, but her team. I don't care that much about her team. I know that sounds crazy, but do you see what I'm saying there? Like, if you told me your daughter won some crazy scholarship because she was the greatest kid of all time versus the Yankees, of course I'm gonna root for my kid. But when you say her team, I'm like, hey, I was a part of a lot of teams that didn't win, I feel just fine about my confidence. So I'm going with the Yankees based on your specific question.
Nathan King
Danny G. You have Raiders tattoos.
Steve Covino
I do. I have one Raider sword on the back of my.
Nathan King
So let me ask you this. Raiders have not won since Jim Plunkett. They have not won since you were a little Boy, I picture you with a beard as a little boy, though. Isn't that weird?
Mel Reid
He was a little kid with a chin strap.
Nathan King
Danny G. Had a chin striped beard at 5.
Steve Covino
Haven't been in the Super bowl since the early 2000s.
Nathan King
Danny G. Raiders win the super bowl or your little boy Koa wins like the Pop Warner Championship locally when he's like 10.
Steve Covino
Well, Koa wasn't planned, but I've planned my whole adult life for the Raiders to win a Super Bowl.
Mel Reid
Yeah, he's been planning this out.
Steve Covino
Yeah, I. And it looks so far as if Koa may be a soccer prodigy. The way he's kicking a size 4 soccer ball around nice, dribbling it around the field. And the kids barely 18 months old. So, yeah, I. As long as he had individual success on the soccer field, Rich, I'd be okay with that.
Mel Reid
That's what I was getting at too, Danny. Like, yeah, my kids individual success, I'll always root for that first. But when it comes to my team, I'm putting my team over their team.
Nathan King
If anyone can remember the player. I always thought this was wild. There was a player whose dad admitted it was a player that's from Queens, New York. This guy was on like the brewers or Marlins or something. And his dad admitted, yeah, I watched the Mets every day. And then I go back and watch the highlights of my son.
Mel Reid
Yeah, I remember that. Who was that?
Nathan King
I forget who it was. But there are people that their kids are in the pros and they're like, yeah, my son's on the Titans, but we are. This family's a Steelers family. It's like, are you kidding? I always think this is an interesting question. Personal or family accolades versus the team you root for. Because Big Mike, who runs this place.
Steve Covino
Who?
Nathan King
Mike said that he rather his little kid when his kid was a, you know, six years old, score one goal in a loss in a six, one loss than any of my teams winning because it's my family versus stupid team.
Mel Reid
Yeah, I mean, everyone has their thing. Mike was pretty adamant about that. But then again, he's a Dodgers fan. He won last year.
Nathan King
I gotta be honest. I asked you and I put you guys on the spot. And when I thought about it myself, I wanted to be all righteous. I'm the guy that's coaching these kids every week. I coach a girls softball team and a boys T ball team. As everyone knows, I'm the number one coach on Fox Sports Radio.
Mel Reid
Wait till they all find out what a rebel you are. Wait till they find out you were Banned on Facebook for being a creep.
Nathan King
So you would think my answer is of course my kids, the children. But if you told me it's game seven of the World series Mets versus let's say my son Ben's little league championship when he's like nine.
Mel Reid
That's what I'm saying. Ben could still have a great season.
Nathan King
And not win, I'd probably say yeah, the Mets. But you're right. If you told me my son's going to win win by hitting a walk off.
Mel Reid
Right. You're not that's ever root against that.
Nathan King
Then you're going to root for your kid.
Mel Reid
But I think I still ride on personal little league accolades. So I would never root against, you know, your kid or my kid to not achieve those moments. But their team I don't care about.
Nathan King
I wanted to talk this out with you guys because I thought we'd come to an answer and I think we have. And the answer is this. And if you disagree with this, you're on drugs. You're crazy. You can never root for your team against your kids personal accolades. But you could root for your team over your kids team's accolades.
Mel Reid
Yes.
Nathan King
If it's your kid hits the game winning three pointer and his, you know, junior high basketball team wins, you'll pick that over the Suns winning an NBA title for sure. But if I said yeah, your, your kids like a bench player and his team wins or the Suns. And you're a Suns fan by the.
Mel Reid
Way, was it Jonathan India's dad?
Nathan King
Yes.
Mel Reid
Die hard Mets fan. Even if his son was on the Reds. Was he was on the Reds.
Nathan King
He was on the Reds at the time. I remember they interviewed his dad and he's like yeah, I grew up in Queens, I'm a Mets fan. I watch the Mets every day on MLB TV and then I go back and just watch my sons at bats.
Mel Reid
Yep, yep, that was it. I just looked it up right now. So I mean yeah, because and you said it. You, you're a blank family. It's not that you're being selfish in that moment. Danny G is from a Raiders family and invested his whole life waiting for a Super Bowl. It's not that selfish of a thought and I kind of get what Ben Stiller's saying. But again, what does an Oscar mean to a guy that has multi millions of dollars anyway?
Nathan King
And sometimes awards mean nothing. If I told you Cavino, some people.
Mel Reid
Don'T put any value on awards at all.
Nathan King
If I told you they were going to give you the Steve Covino, you're going to win the the premier radio network iheart syndicated show of the year award or the Yankees or the Yankees win the World Series.
Mel Reid
Awards mean something to me.
Nathan King
Oh, see, I would choose the Mets win over us winning an award.
Mel Reid
Us or me because that would be cool if I won and you didn't.
Nathan King
Covino and Rich. No, no, just Cavino.
Mel Reid
Yeah. Yeah, he won as a show. No, just him.
Nathan King
No, they decided to leave Rich off.
Mel Reid
Yeah, I feel cool about that. Yeah, that's a tough one, Rich. That's a tough one. But Ben Stiller, the story today and the reason we bring it up is Ben Stiller says he chooses his Knicks over a potential Oscar on the New Heights podcast. And Bradley Cooper has said the same thing before.
Nathan King
Yeah. And I think it also depends on how long the drought's been.
Mel Reid
Oh yeah, all these things matter.
Nathan King
If you root for a drought, how.
Mel Reid
Bad is your kidney to win?
Nathan King
If you're a Cubs fan and 2016 hadn't hit yet, you would have chosen that over anything. But again, if you're a Chiefs fan, yeah, you've, you've had some success over the past handful of years. I think you would choose your kids Little League game over the Chiefs.
Mel Reid
So think about it. Let us know. Chime in at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. And Rich, we got more. CNR midweek Major Rodney, Pete, Austin, Reeves, you got more Next.
Nathan King

Ed Helms
It's no secret that banning alcohol didn't Stop people from living it up in the 1920s.
Nathan King
When we're five years into prohibition, the government is starting to go, okay, this isn't working.
Ed Helms
In fact, you might even say it backfired spectacularly. I'm Ed Helms, and on season three of my podcast SNAFU, we're taking you back to the 1920s and the tale of Formula Six. Because what you probably don't know about Prohibition is that American citizens were dying in massive numbers due to poisoned liquor. And all along an unlikely duo was trying desperately to stop the corruption behind it.
Andrew Seaman
They were like superhero crusaders turning the page on a system that didn't work, wasn't fair, and was corrupt.
Ed Helms
So how did Prohibition's war on alcohol go so off the rails that the government wound up poisoning its own people? To find out, listen and subscribe to snafu on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

Mel Reid
The first interview I've done in bed.
Kyra K. Dixon
We sift through innumerable accounts. 35 pages isn't very much, many of them conflicting.
Nathan King
That's nonsense.
Kyra K. Dixon
There were 60 pages and try to get to the truth of what really happened.

My name is Harry Houdini.
Rich Davis
Harry Houdini could make elephants disappear, walk through walls and escape the Chinese water torture cell. But he was also on a mission against mediums.
Nathan King
I have never seen one genuine medium.
Rich Davis
Join me, Tim Harford, for a cautionary tales trilogy on the world's most famous magician.
Nathan King
It takes a flim flammer to catch a flim flammer.
Rich Davis
Houdini wanted the world to see reason in an age of spiritualism. He went undercover to seances, exposed fakes and charlatans, and even tried to convince Washington lawmakers to ban mediums for good. A campaign that cost him friends and made him many enemies.
Nathan King
They're going to kill me.

We're launching this season with a miniseries, totally nostalgic, a four part series about the Latinos who shaped pop culture in the early 2000s. It's Lala checking in with all things Y2K 2000s. My favorite memory, honestly, was us having our own media platforms like Mundos and MTV Tres. You could turn on the TV. You see Thalia, you see JLo, Nina Sky, Evie Queen. All the girlies doing their things. All of the beauty reflected right back at us. It was everything. Tune in to locatora radio season 10. Now that's what I call a podcast. I don't, I don't know that many Minnesota Viking fans. I feel like I think of our boss, Scott.
Mel Reid
What about Lizzo?
Nathan King
Lizzo, she counts Minnesota Vikings. Didn't she claim to like that she hooked up with the Minnesota Viking? What guy?
Mel Reid
Skull.
Nathan King
Who else do you know that's a Vikings fan? Do you have any close Viking fan friends?
Mel Reid
Yeah, my buddy Kane.
Nathan King
Let's try radio.
Mel Reid
Radio legend. Kane from New York.
Nathan King
Yeah, he's originally from Minnesota.
Mel Reid
Our buddy, Rocket Poo.
Nathan King
I'm not giving you a quiz. I'm just asking have you taken the temperature of any of these fans as far as like, did they want Aaron Rodgers or not? Because that story as of today is done.
Mel Reid
I don't think anybody wants Aaron Rogers.
Steve Covino
We talked about JJ McCarthy last year and how much we knew the Vikings organization loved him.
Nathan King
They were, they loved them. They bought into the Harbaugh hype and they said, you know, Harbaugh was right. This kid's the legit real deal. He just got hurt. And they lucked out with Sam Darnold.
Steve Covino
Yeah. And I know it was a preseason game against my Raiders, but he looked fabulous until he got hurt.
Nathan King
The reality is money wise, where every team now is like cutting cost and shedding dollars and cap space. If you could go with a rookie quarterback, you saw how that is the advantage in the NFL if you could go with a young gun. I mean, you sign Aaron Rodgers, what's the minimum you're going to pay for Aaron Rodgers? 40 to 50 million. And now you're just in a, you're in a different scenario. So I think Minnesota made the right move. Yeah.
Mel Reid
So much more upside. No knock on Rogers. Dude's a legend for sure. But all the noise. He comes with expectations, question marks or banking on the future with a young dude. Lots of promise. Like there's so much more upside to the McCarthy move and that's how I would feel. I don't want the older guy. And by the way, you're saying older guy's fun to root for. You know, it's a fun story.
Nathan King
I just don't believe it's. He a different older guy now to you though?
Mel Reid
Yes, very much. I don't think he's 100% focused on football the way he used to be. Life has changed for him. He's doing his podcasts. He's going to be outspoken. He's into his extracurricular activities. And again, these are all great things, but I don't think they gel with a team that's trying to really win and build for the future.
Nathan King
Sam Darnold was arguably the most pleasant surprise in the National Football League last year. So let me ask a guy sitting over there, Dan Beyer. What's up, my friend? Do you think Justin Jefferson, Kyle Rudolph, guys on that offense were hoping to maybe get an Aaron Rodgers? Or do you think they're like, no.
Mark Seal
Let'S go with the young kid, Kyle Rudolph retired, remember? Yeah.
Nathan King
When did he retire?
Mark Seal
Well, he was actually with us at Fox Sports radio. Jordan Addison, T.J. hawkinson.
Nathan King
Yes, T.J. that's like Kevin, Kyle. I'm like. Because I immediately I thought quick. I'm like, Kyle.
Mel Reid
No.
Nathan King
Okay. That's all years ago.
Mark Seal
All good. I'm sure that they. You know what? No, I'm not going to say it. They know the guy that they know, and so the guy that they know is in their building. And I do think what has gone on with this flirtation or whatever it was couldn't be good for JJ McCarthy, but I'm still thinking that he's. He's the guy in their building. They're going to go with the guy, and I think they're going to be a good teammate. That's what I will say with that.
Nathan King
I think by going with Aaron Rodgers, it would have been. It would have been risky.
Mel Reid
I mean, we know a lot of Giants fans, Rich. We're from the East Coast. What's the temperature there? Are they. Do you know one Giant. I'm going to text my Uncle Bill as we speak.
Nathan King
Oh, he's the. He represents the millions of New Yorkers. No, I'm going to say you want Aaron Rogers. Unk.
Mel Reid
You think he's like, yeah, man, I'm hoping for Rogers. I doubt it very much. And it's not a knock. It's just where he is in his career.
Steve Covino
So I'd like to alert all the affiliates that Covino is texting his uncle right now.
Mel Reid
Yeah, just so you know, man.
Mark Seal
And also, this is a Giants team picking third in the draft. The only quarterback they have under contract right now is Tommy DeVito. It's the only one that they've got under contract for sure.
Steve Covino
And a lot of the mock drafts have the Giants taking Shador Sanders. Whether that happens or not, we'll find out.
Mark Seal
Or even trading up to one to try to get Cam.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Mel Reid
So, I mean, we get it. The Giants need somebody. But do they want him? We said from the start, right here on the show, that it was the easiest fit and easiest move because he embraced New York already, and it's right there in his backyard. But do the fans really want him? I haven't heard. Again, the reason I brought up Uncle Bill. Rich and I talk to Giants fans every day in our personal lives. Not one of our friend, not one of my friends or family has expressed to me that, dude, they got to make it happen.
Nathan King
I mean, they saw what happened with the crosstown team. It's like, imagine if the hottest girl in town dated someone you knew. And he's like, yeah, she's not that cool. That's sort of like what Giant fans are feeling. The guy across town was like, oh, he's dating the hottest girl. Yeah, yeah, bro. She's not that great. That's what Giant fans are feeling. And I'm still mad at myself for saying Kyle Rudolph instead of TJ Hawkinson.
Mel Reid
It's all good, man.
Nathan King
How could you? But, you know, when you think of a guy and he's permanently in your mind for that team. Yeah, I guess there's just, like, a permanence about that guy.
Mel Reid
I don't know why that.
Nathan King
For me, I'm like, I thought he's, like, a permanent Viking.
Mel Reid
I think he's. Because he caught a touchdown pass in.
Nathan King
Like, one of their few playoff wins.
Mel Reid
Over the years with Kirk.
Mark Seal
I think that game was actually on NFL Network right now. The one where he caught in the end zone.
Nathan King
Would that be why I. Subconsciously.
Mark Seal
It may have been.
Nathan King
I'm like, damn. How do I say Kyle Frudel? Jesus. Hey, guys. You're Tony Gonzalez on the Falcons. What do you think he thinks about Kirk Cousins?
Mark Seal
Dude, it happens. It happens.
Nathan King
Yeah. The 49ers. What do you think about Brent Jones anyway, Minnesota fans, I can't imagine anyone being that butthurt that they're moving away from the thought of Aaron Rodgers.
Mark Seal
I know Stallworth and Swan don't want Rodgers in Pittsburgh, so I know that Jerry Shockey does.
Nathan King
He wants Shockey.
Mel Reid
He wants him. He's.
Nathan King
Mark Bavaro is like, you know, I would. You know, Makes sense.
Mel Reid
I'm still waiting for Uncle Bill's response, though, so stay tuned. I just got to see what he has.
Nathan King
I just got a text from Phil McConkey. He said, Please, it's all good.
Mel Reid
Yeah. I mean, I think the. The Giants could scoop him up if he is honest with himself and he just wants to play ball. The Giants could pick up two quarterbacks. They would have to.
Nathan King
I'm not saying the Giants, they only have.
Mel Reid
If they only have Tommy Cutlets, they got room for Rogers at a reasonable rate and someone else.
Nathan King
Imagine by default Tommy Cutlets gets an opportunity. That would be disgusting.
Mel Reid
Got an update, guys?
Nathan King
Uncle Bill.
Mel Reid
Uncle Bill, my. Actually it's my aunt's ex, but he's still part of the fam. Uncle Bill says nope.
Nathan King
Well, thank you.
Mel Reid
And still draft a qb.
Nathan King
He says, yeah, Winston and draft a qb. Yeah, yeah. Speaking of the Giants, I have heard and I believe there is something to be said about. Not that they're going to go from bottom of the barrel stank ass Giants to a playoff contender, but it would be interesting, I think because the Giants overall were so bad last year that, you know, it does go under the radar how great Malik Neighbors was and if he did have a legit quarterback, how much even better he could be. Like, I almost feel like if you're a fantasy football player like a Dan Buyer who, who's way into it, Malik Neighbors might be the steal if you got an Aaron Rodgers because that would be what Aaron Rodgers did for Devonte Adams in Green Bay where he picks his guy and that's his guy. That could be Malik Neighbors and while they won't be great, I could see that being a combo to make some noise offensively.
Mark Seal
You know, I just started to jump in. But your point about that is interesting and I think on the surface it works. But when you see what happened with the jets this past year, that's what was supposed to happen with Garrett Wilson.
Nathan King
I know.
Mark Seal
And it didn't.
Nathan King
Yeah.
Mark Seal
And it didn't happen. So maybe if you're Minnesota, when you're trying to evaluate the reasons, maybe you look at that and say, well, wait a second here. You had a young wide receiver there that you thought was a stud and we thought that this connection was going to be great and it didn't. They ended up having to bring in Devonte Adams anyway. Maybe that would be a reason why you wouldn't. And maybe that could be something. I mean, the Giants right there, you're right.
Nathan King
Because you thought, oh, Jets, Garrett Wilson, he has Aaron Rodgers now. It's going to take him to the next.
Mel Reid
Put yourself in those cleats for one minute. Right. Seriously, if you're a young player, you have to say all the right things like man, an opportunity to play with the legend. Yeah. It's a once in a lifetime thing, it's great, you know, I mean, I can't imagine, you know, playing with Aaron Rodgers. I used to grow up watching him, you know, if you were a young player, would you feel that comfortable playing with a veteran with that much pressure around you or someone younger and as hungry as you are? There's more of a commonality. It's like, all right, if you needed a new co host, would you want, like, an older guy to be your co host or a guy who's on your level with the same hunger in the same place and same part of life as you?
Nathan King
I know what you're saying, you know.
Mel Reid
I mean, like, there's a. There's a pressure of, like, having to play with this guy or someone else, you in your age range. That's probably more comfortable for these young dudes.
Steve Covino
That's interesting because I think cove that with the fans, at least right now. This is almost like the C.J. stroud and Jaden Daniels effect, where you'd rather go with the upstart guy where, you know, there's a lot of ceiling to be reached and have a vet back that guy up. That's what the Vikings are doing. They say they're still in the market to sign a vet, but JJ McCarthy's their guy when.
Nathan King
When there's so much ceiling. Like you said, I mean, those are two great examples of guys that delivered way early on. Jaden Daniels and C.J. stroud. But if you think you have that in J.J. mcCarthy. Cavino's right. Justin Jefferson, not Kyle Rudolph, T.J. hawkinson. These, these guys on the offensive side of things in Minnesota are probably would be more internally excited to be part of the new J.J. mcCarthy offense.
Mel Reid
They would never want to say that because they have to say, and there is some honor and playing with a legend.
Nathan King
But you know what is, though, there's also something so, like, oddly temporary about the Aaron Rodgers answer.
Mel Reid
Right?
Nathan King
There's something like, all right, so. All right, all right. If you're Justin Jefferson, though, you're thinking, all right, so I play with Aaron Rodgers for like a year, and then where do we go from there? Because it's. It's a hired gun. But a hired gun that you're not quite sure is really going to take you anywhere. It's a hired gun that might have.
Mel Reid
Like a rusty, you know, not even fire, but it's also a hired gun that's. That's like talking down to you. Not in a demeaning way. I mean, it might be condescending maybe, maybe. But that's not even my point. Meaning like he's an old veteran. He's with all these young dudes. They might not be speaking the same language. A younger guy might not be as comfortable with that guy. That's what made Tom Brady. Tom Brady. He still spoke that young guy language. I'm not sure Aaron Rodgers is that type of guy.
Nathan King
Speaking of wanting to build things together, I know it's a different story. He's not as young. But as we talk about this, I see the headline on FS1 Cooper cup saying he's quote, excited to build things with Sam Darnold. You know, there's something to be said about wanting to build something together. And when you had a 13 win team and Sam Darnold takes a hike and you got J.J. mcCarthy in the wings, it. You know what, it probably didn't make sense at the end of the day to bring in Aaron Rodgers. So I feel like Minnesota made the right move.
Mel Reid
Hey, not rooting against Aaron Rodgers. Just some thoughts you could chime into at 87799 on Fox or at Covino and Rich at Fox Radio. Time for an update.
Nathan King
Yeah, let's go to Dan Byer and shout outs to Kyle Rudolph.
Mark Seal
By the way, in addition to the Aaron Rodgers news of him not going to the Minnesota Vikings at this time, we do have other NFL stuff to get to as the NFL will officially evaluate a proposal from the packers to ban the tush push. The Lions have proposed a few new rules including not having defensive holding or an illegal contact penalty be an automatic first down for the offense. Detroit is also asking for a change that would allow playoff teams to be seated by their rec and not by whether if they won their division. Texans are signing tackle Cam Robinson filling the spot left and they traded Laramie Tunsall. Veteran safety Jordan Fuller signing with the Atlanta Falcons. Dodgers beat the Cubs today 6 to 3. Louisiana hit three home runs including one from Shohei Ohtani opening around games in Dayton of the NCAA tournament coming up at 6:40 battle of 16 seeds as Mount St. Mary's takes on American. Winner gets Duke on Friday. Xavier and Texas playing a battle of 11 seeds afterwards. Winner will get Illinois on Friday in Milwaukee. Multiple say that Will Wade will leave McNeese to be the new head coach at NC State once the Cowboys NCAA tournament run comes to an end. And guys NHL commissioner Gary Bettman admits the league is reevaluating their future All Star Game festivities following the success of the four nations face off that took place earlier this year. NHL players expected to be in the Olympics Next winter. They say they still want to do something for an all Star sort of deal, even though the pros are expected to play in the Olympics. But moving forward, could see a whole different format because of how great it was.
Mel Reid
Worked. It was awesome.
Nathan King
We watched it together. That's how I knew it worked. And I were like, yo, bro, let's watch hockey together. I've known the guy for decades. First time we sat in watch, he came together.
Mel Reid
It was cool.
Nathan King
So thank you, DB Dan.
Mel Reid
Thanks, Dan.
Nathan King
Your. Your note about the rule changes in the NFL made me laugh because it seems like every team specifically has a rule that applies to them. Like, I want to propose a rule, and they're so specific, like, because something had happened to them. Whether it's the tush push or whatever it is. It's just funny how it's so specific.
Mel Reid
Now we got more Covino and Rich. More midweek. Major Rodney, Pete, Austin, Reese. We have lots to get to right here on Fox Sports Radio. Now, guess what I got in the mail today.
Nathan King
What'd you get in the mail today?
Mel Reid
It was a box for me. What a shock. A box for me.
Nathan King
No way. You get a delivery, and it's not for the woman in your life. You're like, wait for me.
Mel Reid
I was shocked just right from the start. And then it said, travis Matthew, what's in the box, Travis Matthew? And it was sneakers, man. It was, you know, real nice shoes. And I couldn't believe it. And I actually posted. You can see him at Steve Cavino. Check him out. Nice green. And I needed green. Perfect. I'm gonna look right now. Love them. And one of our buddies, Justin, hit us up. Like, what do you golf now? And here's the beauty. I don't golf. Travis Matthew. Not just about golf anymore. It's about looking good. It's about casual and comfort and comfortability in the fabrics. I love the fabrics of the shirts and the pants. Lightweight. Danny G. I got to give you the credit. You're way ahead of it, man, because it's quality. Danny G. Likes quality. Things started rocking it. Rich, I'm not going back. And now you could get 20% off your first purchase when you sign up for email.
Nathan King
The T shirts are quality. I said the yesterday I was wearing that. Like, you could go on our Instagram story. That little brown, like, jacket thing, that overshirt I had.
Mel Reid
Yeah. Travis Matthew, it looks so. Honestly, I wanted to punch Rich and take it because it looks so comfy on him. I'm like, give me that.
Nathan King
Or you can just order your own at travis matthew travismathieu.com Receive 20% off your first order when you sign up for the email. Again. If you want to up your game, it's that time. Cavino says it it's usually around this time every year. You want to get some new stuff for the spring and summer. No better place to shop than travismathieu.com.
Ed Helms
Prohibition it's no secret that banning alcohol didn't stop people from living it up in the 1920s.
Because what you probably don't know about Prohibition is that American citizens were dying in massive numbers due to poisoned liquor, and all along an unlikely duo was trying desperately to stop the corruption behind it.
Andrew Seaman
They were like superhero crusaders turning the page on a system that didn't work, wasn't fair, and was corrupt.
Ed Helms
So how did Prohibition's war on alcohol go so off the rails that the government wound up poisoning its own people? To find out, listen and subscribe to snafu on the iHeartrade app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Nathan King
The five families did not want us to shoot that picture.
Kyra K. Dixon
Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli is based on my co host Mark's best selling book of the same title, and on this show we call upon his years of research to help unpack the story behind the Godfather's birthday. From start to finish, this is really.
Mel Reid
The first interview I've done in bed.
Kyra K. Dixon
We sift through innumerable accounts. 35 pages isn't very much, many of them conflicting.
Mel Reid
That's nonsense.
Kyra K. Dixon
There were 60 pages and try to get to the truth of what really happened.
Nathan King
And they said, we're finished, this is over. It's not going to work. You got to get rid of those guys.
Kyra K. Dixon
Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli features new and archival interviews with Francis Ford Coppola, Robert Evans, James Caan, Talia Shire, and many others.
Mark Seal
Yes, that was a real horse's head.

Mel Reid
The professional gram. No amateur gram here. Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio worldwide. Leaders of nonsense. Every Wednesday, midweek.
Nathan King
Major yippee ki. A mother. You know whose birthday is today? Bruce Willis turned 70. Look at that.
Mel Reid
70, huh?
Nathan King
70.
Mel Reid
Wow.
Steve Covino
There's a reference to that in the show Paradise.
Nathan King
There is. I love the show Paradise. And Danny G. I know it's not a Friday for weekend Hobnobbin, but we were talking about the Lakers on and off the air. Cheesy, yet very watchable running point on Netflix. It's about Jeannie Buss with. With Chet Hanks. I think he's the star of the show.
Mel Reid
I think he is a Hank.
Steve Covino
He plays a really good meathead.
Mel Reid
Well, if you're gonna waste your time, waste it on the White Lotus. I'm digging. It gets better. Episode four and five. That's when it really kicks in. You're like, huh? I mean, you're sitting there all confused like Walton Goggins. Huh?
Nathan King
You could waste your time on, you know, Kate Hudson and Chet Hanks or the White Lotus or on Temptation island, which is just trash.
Mel Reid
Yeah, I'm not into that trash. But good trash.
Nathan King
Good trash.
Mel Reid

Nathan King
Can you believe the Dodgers on their way to 162 0.
Mel Reid
Dude. Kike and Shohei.
Nathan King
That was a home run, by the way. That was.
Mel Reid
I agree.
Nathan King
That was a definite home run. If you don't know we're talking about. Shohei hit the first home run of the 2025 Major League Baseball season. And it. For a minute it was debated whether or not did the fan reach in and grab it.
Mel Reid
But it was over the fence.
Nathan King
It was. It was a home.
Mel Reid
No, it was a home run. It was a nice drive by Shohei Ohtani.
Steve Covino
And how about your boy Rodney?
Mark Seal
Pete.
Mel Reid
I was just going to say stealing.
Steve Covino
That ball for Max Muncie.
Mel Reid
Rodney. And you know what? At first I didn't know that was Rodney P. I saw that it was a major highlight. I Just saw a fan and know what I thought to myself when I saw it? I'm like, he did nothing wrong there. It was right, Adam? He didn't move. He didn't get in Muncie's way. Muncie gave him a lot of attitude for no reason, in my opinion.
Steve Covino
If you don't know really quick. Rich. I was just going to explain because a lot of our audience outside of Southern California, Rodney co hosts the midday show with. With Rogan on AM570LA Sports.
Nathan King
Yeah. So the, the big Fox, they were there.
Steve Covino
They were there for the opener.
Nathan King
The crew, the big Fox Sports Radio affiliate.
Mel Reid
I think it's a major day show. Actually, it's not that mid.
Nathan King
No, it's, it's. And no, that was. What a coincidence, by the way. What content for them, huh? Imagine we went to a game and Covino bumped into Max Muncie.
Steve Covino
They've been loving it all day long. They've been putting out tweets saying the catch heard round the world. And of course, man, of course they. Tim Cates had them on the air and everything. And they've been having a lot of fun with it.
Mel Reid
Yeah. So the clip, and most people have. It was a very viral clip. It was Rodney Pete that was Rodney Pete that got in his way. But he really didn't. He didn't get. He didn't really get in his way.
Nathan King
And I'm gonna.
Mel Reid
Muncie acted like he did.
Nathan King
I'm gonna call Max Muncie. You know, he's a Moises Alu here. The reaction from the player determines the reaction from the fans. And I stand by. Steve Bartman would never have gotten all that crap had Moises Alou just walk back to left field.
Mel Reid
It was a mix of two things. It was alu's reaction, but it was also the fact that he looked like the biggest dork. He had a big goofy green turtleneck. He had a nurtle neck on. He had his headphones, his glasses. He's like, hey, there's Waldo. Everyone's looking at him because everybody went for that ball. The reason he stood out is because he looked like a goober. That's really it. Poor guy. That he did nothing wrong.
Nathan King
And again, combined with Moises Alu react like slamming down his hands like, oh, damn it. Like, that reaction made everyone say, man, who. That kid in the stands really blew it. If Moises out, Lou had walked back to left field like an unfazed pro.
Mel Reid
You know what the worst part about it too is?
Nathan King
Like, look, there it is. It's on TV now. Max Muncie, his frustration in that moment.
Mel Reid
Look, he missed it regardless, and it.
Nathan King
Was over the fence. I don't even know if it would have counted anyway, but he would have never had it.
Mel Reid
Just like Alou would have really never had that ball. But Steve Bartman, famous Cub fan, that got in the way. But he didn't. He was in the stands. He had headphones on. Right. You know, he had to hear the radio commentary of, oh, I would hate to be that nerd in the stands right now.
Nathan King
Look at that nerd. He's in big trouble.
Mel Reid
Oh, the guy with the glasses. Oh, man, that nerd. So he was basically.
Nathan King
For his life.
Mel Reid
He was basically living, listening. You imagine that, that feeling when you got 50,000 people there, everyone's hating you, and you're hearing it on the radio as it happens. I think I need to go now. Yeah, that part of the nightmare is really never explored. Like, you know, he was probably listening to the game, even though the Proclaimers or something.
Nathan King
You know, Bob, that kid's life will never be the same. Proclaimers.
Mel Reid
You know, of all the people here at the game tonight at Wrigley, I would really hate to be that guy. What guy? The guy with the green turtleneck. And he's listening the whole. What a nightmare that had to be.
Nathan King
Thanks, Moises Alu.
Mel Reid
So, you know, that being said, Rodney Pete, if you watch that clip again, Muncie had no shot. He missed it. He clearly missed it. Anyway, dude, if you're gonna go after.
Nathan King
A ball in the stands, do it the right way.
Mel Reid
Right way.
Nathan King
Like those guys in the Bronx rip the. Rip the ball out of Mookie Bets's glove. Like, you're like. You're trying to grab gabagool off a charcuterie board. That's how you got to do it. To think those guys. It's so funny how you could do the same thing. This happens in relationships, work, life, anything. Two people could do the same thing with different reactions. Steve Bartman goes for a ball because it's in his vicinity. He has to move, change his life, and go into, like, witness relocation.
Mel Reid
Yeah, they tried to, like, welcome him back, and he was like, beat it. You ruined my life.
Nathan King
These goons in the Bronx rip a ball to Mookie Betts glove, and everyone laughs their ass off. Like, look at these two guidos.
Mel Reid
Legendary.
Nathan King
I mean, and they did this. They did worse than Bartman, yet they were violent.
Mel Reid
Those dudes are heroes in the Bronx.
Nathan King
They got banned. They got banned. But among their friends in the community. It's like, yo, those guys are clowns. It's funny. Meanwhile, Steve Bartman, you had to change his name, probably.
Mel Reid
Poor guy. So that was the story. Props to Rodney Pete. Good hands. He was in the moment. But you're right. What?
Steve Covino
He was a grown man with a glove, though.
Mel Reid
Ah, yeah.
Nathan King
That's part of the story. They making fun of him for that? Because they should.
Mel Reid
Yeah, it goes against our personal rule. Like, if you're over. Anyone over 12 shouldn't have a glove.
Nathan King

The episode kicks off with a humorous anecdote about Nathan King being temporarily banned from Facebook for posting an inappropriate image, highlighting the humorous side of social media mishaps.
A significant portion of the conversation revolves around the theme of personal success versus the success of the teams the hosts support. This segment explores whether individuals prioritize their own achievements over the victories of their favored sports teams.
Mel Reid:
"I've always said that. I fight for me. Diya Sebiya. I fight for me."

"It's really like, when you think about it, it sounds like it would be a dumb question, like, of course I care more about my own success."
(09:13)
The hosts present various scenarios and hypothetical questions to illustrate their points, emphasizing the complexity of balancing personal ambitions with team loyalty.
Mel Reid and Nathan King introduce hypothetical scenarios involving celebrities like Ben Stiller and Bradley Cooper to discuss the trade-offs between personal accolades and team achievements.
Ben Stiller:
Discussed choosing between winning an Academy Award or seeing the Knicks win the NBA Championship.
(11:10 - 12:03)
Bradley Cooper:
Mentioned valuing the success of the Eagles over any personal award.

"I don't want the older guy. And by the way, you're saying older guy's fun to root for."
(27:59)
Nathan King:
"But when you had a 13 win team and Sam Darnold takes a hike and you got J.J. mcCarthy in the wings, it probably didn't make sense at the end of the day to bring in Aaron Rodgers."

The conversation highlights the tension between immediate performance boosts from experienced players and the long-term benefits of developing young, hungry talent. The hosts conclude that Minnesota's decision to prioritize young quarterbacks like McCarthy aligns better with building a sustainable and competitive team.
