I'm Israel Gutierrez and I'm hosting a new podcast, Dub Dynasty, the story of how the Golden State warriors have dominated the NBA for over a decade. The Golden State warriors once again are NBA champions today. The warriors dynasty remains alive in large part because of a scrawny 6 foot 2 hooper who everyone seems to love.

On how to treat AI like a partner.
Danny G
I see AI as an incredible co pilot. You may use different tools or toys to get the work done, but AI is just the latest flavor of that. You're still the judge of what good looks like.

Rich
Speaking of, I saw him online this morning. I took my kids, I'm like, oh, look, it's Bill Belichick in Jordan.
Cavino
Speaking of Bill Belichick, we're going to play a game because apparently he and I are the same guy. Is it Cavino or Belichick? It's multiple choice.
Rich

Cavino
Plus nice smooth, like eggs. So lots to get to. So let's dive right into it. There's a big story before we talk about Jake Paul and his next fight, because I think that's fun. There's a big story today, courtesy of our old pal Malika Andrews, who we used to see. Very nice person, very great at her job. She's interviewing Luka and Luca says when he found out the news, he was in bed. When he found out about the trade, dude was in bed. And he said, and I quote, is it April 1st? His heart was broken, honestly. And he took his phone. Here's the meat of the story. He took his phone and threw it against the wall. I'm assuming he threw it and he broke it. I'm wondering and guessing where. Maybe he slammed it on the floor. Maybe he slammed it.
Rich
Oh, I was wondering, does he have. Does the Apple care?
Cavino
No. Because Malika then goes to say, do you still have it? And they bring it in, it's all cracked up. She goes, does it still work? And he's like, yeah, it's a great endorsement for an iPhone, but it's in a million pieces. Cracked in a million pieces. But if you missed it, take a listen.
Rich
You hang up the phone the night.
Cavino
You'Re traded and you threw it.
Danny G
Yes.
Israel Gutierrez
Do you have that phone?
Cavino
Yeah.
Danny G
You still use that phone?
Rich
Yeah. So works listen with apple new screens. 20 bucks. Just letting you know, Luke, I would throw it out there.
Cavino
Well, he didn't get it repaired, as far as I know. Still works. And he's using a cracked phone. But he shows it, and you see, he's all smiles now. But for him to admit that his heart was broken, honestly in a. In a vulnerable moment, and he believed that it was April 1, like a bad joke goes to show you how it really affected him, man. And to react in that way. I'm not saying he has anger issues, but I think it really hit him in a serious way. So we posed this question first and first. Mostly, well, your thoughts on that, but also, have you ever been so mad you did something stupid like that and immediately regret it?
Rich
People do it all the time. I think they're ass clowns. But to me, to break your own.
Cavino
Property, It's a line from Goodfellas. I believe when the women would spit in their own house and Karen's like, they would spit in their own home. I never understood that. Like, why would you do that to your own stuff? It's like the jabroni that breaks the TV when his team loses impulse control. Aside from wanting to go viral and for the clicks, I just don't get it.
Israel Gutierrez
Stupidest thing ever.
Cavino
Yeah.
Rich
I think nowadays you see like a Dallas Cowboys fan and it's all staged because they're getting rid of their old crappy flat screen and buying a new one for like 200 bucks at Walmart. So why do you have to destroy.
Israel Gutierrez
It though, for a stupid bit?
Rich
Well, they assume $200 is cost of business, so they'll take their, you know, crappy old flat screen, knowing they're getting a new one and be like, cowboys lost.
Cavino
Woo.
Rich
We slam it down. Yeah, try to get 100,000 views. It's ridiculous. But anyone that really breaks their own stuff, it's wild to me. I can never understand.
Cavino
Well, or maybe it's few and far between where you're ever that mad and emotional. Because if you're a dad of a teenage kid, they could push you to their limits for sure. Like, I could tell you straight up, like, I start to see red and I, like, I want to bang my head through the wall, let alone throw something. So, you know, you have to practice restraint. But I've seen my dad. I saw my. My dad. I think he blew a circuit one time and he's never been the same since my sisters pushed him to the limit. He had three teenagers at like one time, girls.
Danny G
And.
Rich
And he's still alive.
Cavino
And he's still alive. But I remember the one time. I don't know what happened. Let's just say one of my sisters came home late or did some stupid. I just remember him taking the TV out of her room, ripping it out of the wall and throwing it down the steps. And he was like, ah, yeah, dude, I don't think he's ever been the same Since I think he blew a circuit. But. And my dad's a mild mannered dude. So if my dad, who's, you know, great dad, nice guy, could be pushed that far, I guess it could happen to anybody. Well, you're turning to the Incredible Hulk.
Rich
Your dad, Big Steve Covino.
Cavino
Yeah.
Rich
Has five kids. You always tell the story.
Cavino
You know what it was? My mom was probably squeezing his shoes all day and he had enough.
Rich
You always tell the story of when you were a little boy and your dad, with all respect, was probably trying to get some booty.
Cavino
I mean, I don't know that. Listen, I mean, they had five kids. It's possible.
Rich
I'd imagine Covino tells the story when he was a little kid. You know, when you're a little kid, you're like, mom, dad. And you keep calling them and you're bothering your parents and looking back, you're like, they were probably just trying to enjoy a little alone time and you're knocking on the door.
Cavino
No, I mean, he was probably watching Benny Hill downstairs in his tighty whities. That's really what he was probably doing.
Rich
And my kids do it now. Dad. Dad. What? You finally go in. Could I have water, please? Kids do this. It's the.
Israel Gutierrez
It's the. Sorry. The Stewie. And from Family Guy, who goes, mommy, Mommy, Mommy. She's laying right there and she's just staring ahead. Lois. And she's what? You know, eventually she just snaps nothing.
Cavino
And that's exactly what it was.
Rich
And your dad, did he not take one of your favorite toys?
Cavino
Yeah, he came into my room all mad, and he's like, I told you to knock it off. My parents rarely discipline me, so it's the only stories I have. And he said, what do you want? Like, nothing. Do it one more time to kick your ass. Whatever. He said, I don't know. And of course, I called for my mom one more time. Mom. He came in busting in his tighty whities, and he's like, you like this guitar? And I'm like, yeah. And he snapped it. Like, where you go?
Rich
I was like, was your dad the honky tonk? You know what?
Cavino
I don't think I ever Bo Jackson.
Israel Gutierrez
Ed it like a bat.
Cavino
Yeah, I don't. That's what he did over his head, though. I don't think I ever recovered from that. So, yeah, my dad snapped my guitar. Like it was like a little toy guitar.
Rich
Have you ever pulled a Luca. Have you ever been so mad where you lost your cool? I was bragging about how I don't ever lose my cool. And I just realized I did a couple of years ago, my kids, they're seven and five now, so I'm guessing they were five and three, and they were just annoying the hell out of me, Something they were doing.
Cavino
Kids will push you, man.
Rich
And I remember grabbing the remote control for our tv. Like, our. You know, the smart TV remote.
Cavino
Everybody knows what a remote control is, guys.
Rich
It controls your television.
Cavino
You know, the little thing with buttons for your tv, A little handheld device.
Rich
And I just lost my cool. I'm like, you kids never listen to me. I took the remote, slammed it down on the floor. It shattered in, like, 25 pieces.
Cavino
I remember you telling me that. And your wife got mad at you.
Rich
My wife's like, you know what you're gonna do right now? I'm like, what? She goes, you're gonna go to Best Buy or Target or somewhere and go buy a new remote because you're an idiot. I'm like, you're right. And because I'm like, I was mad at the kids, and now the TV was stuck on whatever was on. I had no remote.
Cavino
But I guess it happens. I've seen my mom throw a lot of things at my dad and at me, you know, I remember my mom threw a full on Canada dry soda can at me one time. I don't remember what I did.
Rich
A full one.
Cavino
Yeah.
Israel Gutierrez
That's gonna hurt.
Will
I know.
Cavino
Lucky I had matrix ninja skills.
Israel Gutierrez
So you don't chop that thing in midair.
Cavino
Sure. It's going to the wall, right? Like, if there's a dent in your wall, there's a good chance that someone threw something or, I don't know, there was an accident or someone had a fit of rage.
Israel Gutierrez
People punch the wall. They don't often think. Like, Andy in the office, he gets so mad, and he just punches the drywall.
Cavino
That happens a lot more than we realize.
Rich
No, it does. And I'll tell you why. Because my contractor, we redid our whole house when we bought it. It had not been touched since the 50s. So I spent a lot of time with my contractor, and he would tell me he had clients that would call him every so often. Like, yeah, can you do quick little patchwork, little sheetrock, a little spackle? Because people have tempers. And there's people that, on the regular, will be like, ra. And punch the Sheetrock in their house.
Cavino
I'll tell you what, Rich. I wouldn't throw my phone the way Luca did. But it does show you how. How it hit him right like, he didn't think about it.
Rich
You think deep down.
Cavino
I don't think it was like a money thing. That's another question. Because people.
Danny G
Yeah.
Israel Gutierrez
He lost 100 million.
Cavino
People speculate. The tears. Right. Would he have.
Israel Gutierrez
He loves Dallas.
Cavino
Traded that in. Like, of course he didn't want it to happen. I think he's happy now. Of course. You know. Yeah, I think so. He has a chance to win. They've embraced him.
Israel Gutierrez
Yeah. I know he looks like he's having fun now.
Cavino
I do think he's settled in, but there's still some wounds, some scars, some. Some answers, probably that he wants. But he did get that closure recently. But here's what I would do, Rich. If my daughter was just misbehaving because a teenage kid, like I said, will push their limits, I would take her phone and throw it somewhere just to prove a point.
Rich
Then you gotta buy her a new one.
Cavino
Yeah. But still, you know, I could see myself maybe getting to that point. I go, yeah, you know, I could see that. Because there's so little you could do to discipline a kid nowadays. There really is. There's really so little.
Rich
The days of spanking and, like, old school discipline. Hold on.
Israel Gutierrez
Especially can't beat my child anymore. It's looked down upon.
Rich
Yeah.
Cavino
I mean, geez, right?
Israel Gutierrez
Like, so hard to parent these days.
Cavino
No. But I also, as a co parent, Sam. Right. Like, your hands are really tied because anything you do.
Rich
Yeah.
Israel Gutierrez
Will be used against you either by.
Cavino
The child or the ex. But you know what I did? I bought that phone. So you're giving me some. I'll take that phone. I'll throw it in. I'll pull a Luca.
Israel Gutierrez
When I was a little kid here in la, we had a neighbor named Luis. He lived two houses down. And he was. He was so scared to get into trouble because when he did something that made his mom or dad mad, he got a spanking out on the front lawn. His dad would take a kitchen chair out and spank him in public.
Cavino
Oh, it's the worst.
Israel Gutierrez
Public lashings. Yeah.
Cavino
So we asked him to spank him.
Israel Gutierrez
In front of the neighborhood. Fox Sports robs you of your dignity.
Cavino
I want to hear your Kevin Brown moments, your Paul O'Neill uncontrollable moments. It's okay. Vent. Tell us, you know, make sense of this Lucas story. Because that's the story right now. He was so mad. That's what happened. And he's still using that phone, which is amazing.
Rich
I'll tell you where this happens quite a bit. You know me number One softball player in the valley. Here in California, I always use other people's bats, but there's guys that I play with that spend 3, $400 on a nice, like, top level, the Marini bat. Like these really torpedoes. Like torpedo bats? No, but they spend a lot of money. And there's some hotheads that, like, pop up with runners on base. They'll take their bat, hit it against the fence. I mean, you just broke a three. You just popped a.300 bat.
Cavino
And that's. It's really. Yeah. I don't know, man. I can't relate.
Israel Gutierrez
Golf clubs are the same way. Like, if you're mad and you want to chuck it into the pond, and then you.
Cavino
So stupid.
Danny G
Right?
Rich
Golf is a great one. I'm surprised we haven't thought of that yet. I need that.
Israel Gutierrez
Yes. I need that golf club. It's not. And it's not the easiest. I mean, if you want a new driver, sure, but there's several hundred dollars depending on the range that it is. And then there's also just the awkwardness of driving with a person in the cart for the next 200 yards because they just threw their club into the pond.
Cavino
Well, I have a dumb question for you, D.B. yes, and I should know. My girlfriend actually works at a golf course. You think I would know some of this stuff? There are people. Yeah.
Rich
Yes. His name is Jordan Gilmore. You know.
Cavino
I know there's people that go into these lakes, they retrieve all these golf balls, and they come up. Do they retrieve a lot of club?
Israel Gutierrez
I'm sure that they. They will. Time and again. I don't think it's littered like it would be with golf balls, but I'm sure you'll probably find a driver.
Cavino
You have to, right?
Israel Gutierrez
Depending on what.
Cavino
Funny.
Rich
Yeah.
Cavino
You know, it's all evidence of angry people.
Rich
Hey, DB have you ever seen the viral clip recent? I saw some dude, he was on the putt. He was on the green, made a nice putt. He thought the ball was short. Slams down his putter, snaps in half, and then he gets the roll. So he made the shot, but he didn't let the. The ball had that last little.
Israel Gutierrez
But was it hitting the ground that caused vibrations, like in Caddyshack, the. The dynamite exploding.
Rich
This guy prematurely snapped his putter and then realized, oh, it did. I got the drop.
Israel Gutierrez
I don't want to say it's common, but. By the way, I'm sorry to interrupt my thought. This Cubs Diamondbacks game right now.
Cavino
Oh, my God.
Israel Gutierrez
Absolutely. Back and bonkers. Say Suzuki Just hit a home run to extend the cubs lead to 13 to 11. This was a. After six innings, it was a 21 ballgame. It is now 13 to 11 in the bottom of the eighth inning. Wow.
Cavino
And you said someone hit a granny, right? A little while ago.
Israel Gutierrez
There have been two grand slams. Ian happy to grand slam for the cubs in the seventh. And then they added another, so they were up 71 heading to the eighth. The Diamondbacks then scored 10 runs in the top of the eighth inning with Eugenio Suarez hitting a grand Islam. Lourdes Guriel Jr. Hit a run shot in that same inning. Inning. So it was 11 to 7. Diamondbacks heading to the bottom of the eighth inning, and the Cubs have now scored six in the eighth. Kyle Tucker's hit a two run home run. I mentioned the Suzuki home run. Carson Kelly, who had a two run home run off Corbin Burns in the second inning, hit a three run shot. So he's knocked in five. It is crazy.
Cavino
And another hit just now.
Israel Gutierrez
And this has been a standalone game. There's been no other games on today. So if you're fiending for baseball, maybe you have the day off. You're watching an incredible baseball game.
Rich
Yeah. The funny part is DB much like my dad in the 80s. Oh, yeah. After the seventh inning. Let's beat traffic. There was someone that went home when this game was on.
Cavino
That's the worst. You're so right about that seventh inning.
Rich
How many times has your dad or grumpy uncle been like, oh, well, let's beat traffic. We'll leave in, like, after the seventh inning stretch.
Cavino
Oh, my God. Yeah. 1113 Cubs.
Rich
Wow.
Cavino
In the eighth.
Israel Gutierrez
I bet you Craig Counsel was throwing his phone, and then now he's mad that he did. Tory Lavella is doing the same thing with the. With the Diamondbacks.
Rich
Wow. Thanks for the update. Update. DB 1311 Cubs. Bottom eight, one out.
Israel Gutierrez
I'm sorry to interrupt. It's happened so many times, I had to make sure there weren't replays.
Cavino
Right, right.
Israel Gutierrez
You're thinking like, oh, wait, I just saw Carson Kelly walking around the diamond. Oh, that was live. Yeah. It's nuts.
Rich
Damn.
Cavino
So thank you, DB for the update. Wild game going on as we speak, but some wild news from Luca. And we want to ask you, have you ever ruined your own property because you just couldn't control yourself?
Rich
What happened? How many tennis rackets have been broken?
Cavino
I mean, is there any sense of satisfaction? Like when you think of Paul O'Neill? Right. The way he would take it out on a gatorade cooler or the water cooler, he'd just be slamming his bat, busting everything. Everything that's embarrassed. It's embarrassing behavior. It is, right?
Israel Gutierrez
You gotta.
Cavino
You think he felt better after that?
Israel Gutierrez
Narcissistic. After a little while, it's almost a little, like, too showy, and you're like, all right, you gotta tone it down a little bit.
Cavino
You look like a big baby. And the only reason I was tolerant of it is cause I loved Paul O'Neal and I knew what he brought to the team. But if I was anyone else watching.
Israel Gutierrez
That, like, it's kind of cringey.
Cavino
You're like, yeah, you would hate that.
Rich
I mean, at any level, think about from little league to rec sports, that you always know the guy that gets out, who kicks his glove in the outfield if he misses a fly ball, or the guy that's hits his bat against a fence. Like, you just broke a bat, like I said. Or like DB Said. Golf clubs are victims. Tennis rackets. I just mentioned. How many times have you seen a tennis player, like, slamming down the. Those are nice rackets. Part of their collection.
Cavino
I don't like that either. Yeah, I think that's a bad look. But, you know, you can't judge either, because I guess everyone has a breaking point. That's the other thing too. Like, Paul O'Neill is an exception. What? He had that many breaking points, he just couldn't control himself. Everybody has a breaking point. I think that was Lucas and I. You know, although I'm not a fan of this behavior, I don't think anybody is. I could see the shock that set in. He said he was. He was in shock, and he was angry and everything. Can you imagine?
Rich
I love the thought of. Have you been so fired up you were stupidly the guy that broke his own stuff.
Cavino
Yeah.
Rich
But let me go back to Luca for a second.
Cavino
Sure.
Rich
If they win and they're like, the fourth or fifth favorite team to win out of Vegas. Right. I mean, the Lakers are a true contender. They got two of the biggest stars in the league. That's good enough.
Cavino
Right.
Rich
If they win the NBA title, does that make up for any sour feelings Luca has? Or do you think there is a part of him that's like, you know, I lost out on a ton of money. They uprooted my life. I had bought a house.
Israel Gutierrez
Is.
Cavino
He also shuts up people like, I don't know people on this channel who say that the bubble victory doesn't count. Like, give me a break. I think it does a lot. It does A lot.
Israel Gutierrez
I think Luca, to answer your question, Rich, I think Luca's always going to have some, you know, bad feelings towards Dallas. Not towards the city, of course, towards the owner and the GM right now.
Cavino
But that shit that might motivate him.
Rich
If some girl dumped you, if some girl that you were in love with broke up with you in a, you know, in a weird, odd way, and you went on to fall in love and you met a new girl there, you still will have some odd feelings about how that ended.
Cavino
Yeah, but I use that as motivation. Right. And another. Another hit in the Cubs. Have bases loaded with one out, you know, another one.
Israel Gutierrez
It's interesting, too, if. If you could go back and do radio in New York, where you guys started, where I'm sure you had a blast, would you love to do it? The reason I bring that up is because it's usually because the people that you work with, and that's what the change with the Mavericks is. I think ultimately Luke is going to realize, you know what? Mark Cuban doesn't own the team anymore. Mark Cuban wasn't running everything. There's different faces in the same places. So it wasn't always going to be the same. So when you look back, I think he'll probably realize that because of Cuban selling the team and handing it over to the people that are making the decisions. And a GM that wasn't there when they drafted him, traded for him seven years ago in the draft, like, those things change. So maybe it wouldn't have ended well because these people were there.
Cavino
It's a really great point.
Rich
It's a great point. You know, out here in la, there was a big radio show that you guys listened to out here. When we were on the east coast out here, Kevin and Bean was a big deal, right?
Israel Gutierrez
Sure.
Cavino
Yeah. And K Rock, la.
Rich
And isn't one of the. Kevin is now back doing afternoons by himself, and I'm wondering if he went back and he's like, this is not the same place.
Cavino
But it's like what you tell your wife all the time. Rich's wife, Sarah, often misses the fun times. Going to the bar in New York City, hanging out with other friends. It's like, yeah, but none of those people are there anymore hanging out the way they used to be.
Rich
When my wife left Texas and moved to New York and now la, she'll sometimes be like, I miss getting queso with Loren at the Mexican spot. I miss going to the gym with Lindsey and doing that. She misses some of those things. And I said, babe, all the people you talk about, like yourself, have children, jobs, everything. You, you can't. You're missing something that doesn't exist.
Israel Gutierrez
Yes, that's a great way to put it.
Rich
That doesn't exist anymore.
Cavino
That's really it. So Luca has to move on because you're right, that really doesn't exist anymore. And I think he uses that as motivation. But I want to make it clear, too. If you haven't seen the clip again, Luca with Malika Andrews. He's clearly emotional or talking about how emotional he was. But he seems to be all smiles and in good spirits. It's not like he's sitting there with any sort of remorse or anything. He's just telling the story and he's being honest about it. But you could see that he's in good spirits now. So let's make that clear. I think he's ready for the playoffs with the Lakers. I'd love to see them win, but your thoughts? I want to know when you blew a fuse like my dad.
Rich
Your phone calls, your feedback next. Right here, FOX Sports Radio with your buds Covino and Rich.
Cavino

Cavino
Their main shtick. They don't want you overpaying for razors. Great shaves should be affordable for everyone. The only thing you need to be is a part of the club to grow your hair when it's gone.
Rich
Check out some of their member favorites. They have shave butter translucent so you can see what you're shaving. Formulated for a nice hydrated, gliding shave. Four and six blade razors. Again, the sweetest shave. Diamond grip handle. Whatever blade you choose, this super grippy handle is engineered to prevent slips. So you get those, you know. No more little nicks and cuts.

I'm Israel Gutierrez and I'm hosting a new podcast, Dub Dynasty, the story of how the Golden State warriors have dominated the NBA for over a decade.
Rich
The Golden State warriors once again are NBA champions.
Israel Gutierrez
From the building of the corps that included Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to one of the boldest coaching decisions in the history of the sport.
Rich
I just felt like the biggest thing.
Israel Gutierrez
Was to earn the trust of the.

A four part series about the Latinos who shaped pop culture in the early 2000s. It's Lala checking in with all things Y2K 2000s. My favorite memory, honestly, was us having our own media platforms like Mundos and MTV Tres. You could turn on the TV, you see Thalia, you see JLo, Nina Sky, Evie Queen. All the girlies doing their things. All of the beauty reflected right back at us. It was everything. Tune in to locatora radio season 10. Now that's what I call a podcast. Listen to Locatora Radio Season 10 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

On November 5, 2018 at 6:33am, a red Volkswagen Golf was found abandoned in a ditch out in Sleep Hole Valley. The driver's seat door was open. No traces of footsteps leaving the vehicle. No belongings were found except for a cassette tape lodged in the player. On that tape were 10 vile.
Cavino
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Israel Gutierrez
Oh, my God.
Cavino
Oh, my God.
Israel Gutierrez
Horrific stories that to this day have been kept restricted from the public until now. You feeling this too? A horror anthology podcast. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Cavino
Seeing red a la Chevelle style. Chicago rock, Iowa. Sam. I love it. Chevelle. Such an underrated band. I'll be playing them tonight Every night on Turbo 41 on SiriusXM. I'm Cavino, that is Rich from Pop2K on SiriusXM. But we join forces to do the best show on radio. Cavino and Rich. Best show on radio according to us. Cavino and Rich.
Rich
That's what your mom said, right? She's like, you guys are the best.
Israel Gutierrez
The best show from 5 to 7 on this network.
Cavino
Yes, I agree. The world famous CNR on FSR. Happy holiday weekend, Passover Easter. Good Friday, everybody, and thank you for hanging out with us.
Rich
Chevelle, one of your favorite bands from Chicago.
Cavino
Chevelle Disturbed, I have to say, maybe Chicago.
Rich
I was going to say the 85 Bears when they did the super bowl shuffle.
Cavino
Yeah, that was.
Rich
I mean, talking about, you know, music out of Chicago.
Cavino
Shuffle on down. Doing it for you. So right now we're live from the Tyrack.com studio. CNR here. Get ready for the next hilarious PayPal campaign with Will Ferrell singing his rendition of Fleetwood Mac's go your own way. Wait for it in the bathtub. Check out the teaser that dropped yesterday and the commercial on Saturday during basketball games this weekend. I love all those Will Ferrell commercials, man. I think they're great. So thanks again for hanging out with us before we get into this Jake Paul fight and Cavino or Belichick giving away prizes. You were so mad you did what? That's really what we're asking right now. Because Lucas said he threw his phone the moment he found out this trade was real and that it was true. He broke his iPhone. And where he. I want to know where he threw it, though. Like, across the room.
Rich
Clearly, this guy.
Cavino
Did he throw it at his butler? Who did he throw it at?
Rich
Doesn't have Apple care because he still has the cracked screen. I just cracked my screen. It's like 20, 29 bucks. But take a listen. Malika Andrews, who we love with Luca, you hang up the phone the night.
Cavino
You'Re traded and you threw it?
Danny G
Yes.
Israel Gutierrez
Do you have that phone?
Cavino
Yeah.
Danny G
You still use that phone?
Rich
Yeah. Still works.
Cavino
Hey, and by the way, we know her to be a sweet woman. I'm just saying that not every woman we worked with was very sweet to us. She was very sweet. Just throwing that out there. So you were so mad you did what?
Rich
We'll take a couple.
Cavino
Take your phone calls and move on.
Rich
And I have a music challenge for everyone here in the studio. We're going to do a music challenge before we get into NBA playoffs. And there's a story about Jackson Dart we want to get to. We're going to play a game. Like, you said a lot to get to. Say hi to our pal Tripp in Vegas. Hey, Tripp.
Cavino
Hey, Tripp.
Israel Gutierrez
Hey. Good afternoon. It's definitely my favorite show on the radio.
Rich
Thank you, brother. Hey.
Israel Gutierrez
Yes, sir.
Rich
Good to talk.
Israel Gutierrez
So we used to have squirrels that.
Danny G
Would go in and out of my.
Israel Gutierrez
Attic when I was a kid. My father got mad one day he's.
Rich
Like, I'm gonna end this. Well, he had bought birdshot to shoot.
Israel Gutierrez
The squirrel, but he grabbed the wrong shotgun that had buckshot and shot off the bricks, off the corner of that. He killed the squirrel, but he shot the corner of the house.
Rich
The look on his face was priceless. Yeah, listen, Sometimes you destroy your own stuff and you feel like such an ass clown. Anger takes over.
Cavino
You have a.
Rich
You have a what you think is a brilliant idea, and it doesn't work out. Let's go to Brian in Vegas. What's up, man? Hey.
Israel Gutierrez
What's up, guys?
Rich
Hey.
Israel Gutierrez
Me and Tripp need to meet up because we're. We must be somewhere close out here in Vegas.
Rich
Let me tell you something. You guys should Both meet up. June 20th to the 22nd. We're gonna have a big Cavino and Rich party in Las Vegas, so you better be there, brother.
Israel Gutierrez
Oh, yeah, yeah. We'll be there for sure. But. Yeah.
Rich
So about the whole Luca thing.
Israel Gutierrez
He's gonna. He's gonna have feelings against them regardless, but he can also be very excited. So I'm excited. I'm a Laker fan, so I'm a. I'm excited for him to go through the playoffs and him and LeBron see what they. See what they could do with the dynamic duo, and even Reed, too. But anyway, the whole. If I've ever destroyed my own stuff. Yes, I had. I had a laptop, kind of a busted old laptop that I bought off my buddy for, like, a hundred bucks.
Rich
While I'm an online poker player.
Israel Gutierrez
And one night, it wasn't going very good, and I was in. I don't know, 100 bucks, 150 bucks, something like that. I got rivered, and it was like. It was. I got so mad, I threw that thing on the ground, and it busted into, like, 100 pieces. I regretted it a little bit, but not a ton, because it was an old one anyway.
Rich
But still, I mean.
Cavino
And you know, what kind of. It's acceptable. I can't say respectable, but it's acceptable. Because when I think of the Lucas story and I hear your story again, everybody. No one's immune to this. Everybody has a breaking point, and it's true. And I could see, like, emotions are at their height. I can't imagine how Luca felt. That's. That's blindsided in a major way. It's a matter of. If you act like this all the time, you know, that's the problem.
Israel Gutierrez
It made me think of this great episode of Family Matters. It's called Driving Carl Crazy. Where Carl Winslow has, like, high blood pressure, I think, due to getting angry. So he has this little thing where he's like, 3, 2, 1. 1, 2, 3. What the heck is bothering me? And he eventually, like, loses it.
Cavino
And it's just great.
Israel Gutierrez
Episode of Family Matters.
Rich
Hey, Sam, any Carl Winslow reference is always welcome on the show.
Israel Gutierrez
Cause that was one of my favorite shows.
Rich
You know what? Before we get to DB's update, could we do a quick music challenge in the studio?
Cavino
Wait, hold on. I imagine Steve Urkel pushed him to his limits at one point.
Israel Gutierrez
Probably Steve Urkel related.
Rich
Got any cheese?
Cavino
Yeah, I imagine he exploded at Steve at least at one point.
Rich
Hey, Laura.
Israel Gutierrez
Did I do that?
Cavino
Did I do that?
Rich
All right, real quick. Music challenge. This is a viral thing on social media, and I want to see if anyone in the studio can nail it. It'll take a second.
Cavino
Oh, by the way, Rich, I had one last story. You remember that one time our old producer got so mad while we were on the air live, and he came in and threw a chair across the room.
Rich
Do you remember that, though?
Cavino
Yeah, but, like, things like that do happen. You know, we just sat there and watched like, is this guy serious right now? Through a chair in the studio. Who does that? He threw a shoe.
Israel Gutierrez
That's crazy.
Cavino
Yeah, no, it's true.
Israel Gutierrez
I wait until I get home to do those sort of things.
Cavino
Like, man, you really trying to make an impact. They're like, I don't get that behavior. It's just.
Israel Gutierrez
It's a little bit self serving.
Rich
Yeah, not a little.
Israel Gutierrez
It's very self serving.
Rich
I once had a buddy who did the flip out. He left the restaurant. We were having a radio meeting, and he was fed up with, like, you know, something at the ratings or the boss told him to do something. He's like, why? I'm out of here. He goes to kick over the chair and storm out, but his jacket got caught on his chair, so he was like. He was stuck.
Cavino
He was like, embarrassing.
Rich
Further embarrassing. Further embarrassing.
Cavino
Not exactly making the point you wanted to make.
Rich
Well, you know what? I want to go to Dan Byer first, and then we'll do the music challenge.
Cavino
Perfect.
Rich
Perfect. Let's get DB's update. What's up, Dan?
Israel Gutierrez
Guys, it was a crazy day in Chicago on the north side. We told you. Cubs had a 21 lead on the Diamondbacks at the end of the sixth. In the seventh inning, it got crazy when the Cubs put six on the board, including. Including a grand slam by Ian Hap. Then there was another grand slam this time for the Diamondbacks. In the top of the 8th it was Eugenio Suarez hit a grand slam followed by Lourdes Goriel Jr's three run home run. Arizona looks like they're running away with it right. It's 117 in the top of the eighth inning. They go to the bottom half of the eighth inning. Cubs rally. Kyle Tucker's hit a two run shot. Now Chicago's in the lead. And then this here's a drive in.
Cavino
The deep right center. Back goes Thomas. This ball's gone.
Israel Gutierrez
A home run for Suzuki and the.
Cavino
Cubs take a 13 to 11 lead.
Israel Gutierrez
That's how it would end on the Cubs radio network. So the craziness at Wrigley ends in that 1311 affair. Lakers promoted GM Rol Rob Pelinka, the president of basketball operations, giving him a contract extension as well. News first reported by ESPN who also reports that spurs head coach Gregg Popovich is at home and resting after he was taken to a local hospital Tuesday night after an incident at a restaurant. Tonight Heaton Hawks 7, Eastern Mavericks and Grizzlies 9:30 Eastern Time. John Moran expected to play despite being a gametime decision because of his ankle injury and engulf second round of the RBC Heritage. Justin Thomas is your second round leader. He's at 12 under par. Shots clear of Siwu Kim and Russell Henley. Guys, back to you.
Cavino
Thank you Dan Beyer, db. So Luca, I think he uses this as fuel to the fire, man. Actually it gets me excited that these emotions were real and now he's just ready to unleash with the Lakers. The LA Lucas number one selling jersey has to make him feel good.
Rich
Now I'm going to put this music challenge and you guys to the test and just a few minutes. So hang tight. We'll we'll do it in about five. I was just looking at the pitching matchups for tonight because as as of now I know we're only we're less than 20 games into the baseball season but Kavito and I are tied in our Met Yankees Bet they're both 12 and 7. Yeah, and I was like tonight I wonder if Rodone will show up for the Yankees. I know he's has his his ups and downs. Not the acquisition you thought. I did tell you Max Freed was going to be a stud.
Cavino
Yeah, he's.
Rich
And you doubted me?
Cavino
I didn't doubt it. I didn't know much about him. As in I'm more of an AL guy.
Rich
Two NL guys that I told you you'd love Soto until he left You. And I'm telling you, Max Freed.
Cavino
You mean Juan. So so.
Rich
He's so so. But you know what? The fact that he's so so in the middle.
Cavino
Don't call me so so.
Rich
The fact that he's so so and they're 12 and 7. I could be he. I'm okay with that, Sammy. So, so Rodone pitching tonight against Drew Rasmussen. And when I say Drew, Matt Rasmussen isn't your instinct. Like, he's got to be related to.
Cavino
The son of Dennis.
Rich
Dennis. And I'm not seeing a relationship. The nephew of Dennis, not the son.
Cavino
Maybe a distant cousin. Dennis Rasmussen.
Rich
Like, what's the chance? You know, a lot of times you'll see a name and you're like, oh, that must be the kid of the guy we watch in the 80s or 90s. I'm not finding a relation right now. What's the chance of Rasmussen's, I don't.
Cavino
Know, making it to the bigs.
Rich
I was like, oh, that's gotta be Dennis's kid.
Cavino
It's shocking, you know, Like, I bust the rhymes. No relation to Leanne Rhymes. And they both made it in music.
Rich
I know. Who would've thought?
Cavino
You, right, I know. I thought they had to be like brother, sister or cousins or something.
Rich
That's the example we always go to. All right, hey, listen, little music challenge. I'm going to put you guys to the test in the studio. Plus we'll talk some NBA playoffs and a great story that has to do with Jackson Dart. And we will do trivia, give away some prizes on a Friday. More Covino and Rich next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Cavino

All right, to the edge.
Cavino
Not to lose my head. Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio Iowa. Sam on the boombox on the ones and twos. And Danny G's breakdancing in the studio doing the robot as we speak.
Rich
How many times has this been sampled, man?
Cavino
I don't know. I don't have that number, but few times.
Rich
I'd say hundreds this weekend, Easter weekend, passover still going on. So enjoy your time with friends and fam and don't lie to yourself. If you die Easter eggs with your kids, you're not going to make egg salad, you're not going to eat the hard boiled eggs. Just throw them out on Monday.
Cavino
You're supposed to dye potatoes or something because eggs are too expensive. Die rocks. Right now we're live from the tirerack.com studio. Remember, after the show our podcast goes up. So if you miss any of today's show, any show ever, listen to the podcast. Search Covino and Rich where you get your podcasts. And a reminder tomorrow morning, this holiday weekend, every Saturday our best of the week goes up. And it was an action packed week. We filled in for Dan Patrick Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. You may have missed a lot of that. So check the best of the week tomorrow and follow rate and review. Give it 5 stars. Just search Covino and Rich wherever you get your podcasts. And speaking of podcasts, Rich, brand new, over promised our bonus pod. You could watch. It's on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. Definitely check it out. It's 22. How about this? Give us 22 minutes, we'll give you the world.
Rich
That slogan's already taken.
Cavino
Is it?
Rich
So here's what I want to do. I don't want to over promise but I want to talk some NBA playoffs. There's a great story and it has to do with Jackson dart and the NFL draft which is less than a week away. And we are going to play a game is a Cavino or Belichick. So an action packed next hour. But real quick, there's a music challenge that's on TikTok and Instagram. It's like a week old or so but we haven't done it here and I want to see if anyone in the studio can nail it. It if you don't know what I'm talking about. It's called the Whitney Houston challenge in the song I will always love you. Towards the end there's a break and then the drum comes back and I want to see if anyone in the studio could time the drum and when I say time the drum, you got to slam your hand down real hard. We'll go one at a time. Let me give you an example. Take a listen. I was Sam. And now. Now here's the pause. You got to slam your hand down when you think the drum comes back. All right? So I was. I was saying you go first. Okay, Start it up.
Israel Gutierrez
What am I supposed to do?
Rich
Start it up and slam your hand down when you think that drum comes back. See if you could time it.
Israel Gutierrez
This is a thing.
Rich
This is a thing. It's all over Tik Tok and Instagram.
Israel Gutierrez
This is a thing.
Rich
I bet 20 bucks you can't do it on your first time. Go ahead, slam your hand when you're ready. You're late. I was late. You're late. Danny G, you're up.
Cavino
Up.
Israel Gutierrez
All right, let's go.
Rich
Look at Danny G counting to himself.
Cavino
Way early.
Rich
Dan Byer, you shot or what?
Israel Gutierrez
Danny's breaking stuff in here. Second early. Should I do it like Family Feud? One arm behind my back.
Rich
One arm. All right, Dan Buyer's up. And by the way, this is a dumb tik tok trend that you'll probably see now that I.
Israel Gutierrez
Very dumb.
Rich
Right? Here we go. Dan Buyer.
Israel Gutierrez
Closest one yet, though.
Rich
You know why?
Cavino
Because when you're doing it, it feels so long.
Israel Gutierrez
It does.
Rich
Let me give it a shot.
Israel Gutierrez
Especially in radio time.
Rich
All right, here we go. I'm, like, counting in my head. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Oh, I'm way early.
Cavino
You are early, too, because Danny T's right. In radio seconds, let's say it's five seconds. That feels like 10 seconds.
Israel Gutierrez
It sure does.
Rich
In Radio Camino, you're the last guy that has a chance.
Cavino
All. Let's go. None of us got it.
Israel Gutierrez
Come on.
Rich
Figured I'd break up the sports with a dumb challenge. Here we go. Kavino, you're up.
Cavino
1, 2, 3, 4.
Rich
You're late. I may have had it, though.
Cavino
It was like a split second.
Israel Gutierrez
You were. You were closest.
Cavino
I was, like, right where I was about to hit. It was.
Israel Gutierrez
Ah, but you also got to see what all of us did, you know.
Cavino
Hey, it is sweeping the nation somehow. Of all people. You believe Paula Abdul got it on the first shot. I saw that first shot. She got it.
Rich
She's a musician and, you know, dancer and knows nose rhythm.
Cavino
I mean. Yeah, you're being kind by saying she's a musician.
Rich
I'm sorry. I mean, are you not.
Cavino
Do you love her?
Israel Gutierrez
Did she dance with a cartoon or something?
Cavino
MC Scat Cat is a bigger musician.
Rich
Straight up. I think you're giving it out enough credit.
Cavino
I mean, I love some of those songs.
Israel Gutierrez
Do you know who wrote I Will Always Love youe?
Cavino
Yes. Dolly Parton.

Release Date: April 19, 2025
Host/Author: iHeartPodcasts and The Volume
Description: "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" offers a thought-provoking and opinionated exploration of the day's top sports stories. In this episode, Covino and Rich delve into the dramatic trade involving Luka Doncic, share personal anecdotes about managing anger, provide updates on major sports events, and engage listeners with interactive segments.
The episode opens with Covino recounting a significant trade involving NBA star Luka Doncic. The hosts discuss Luka's immediate and intense emotional response upon learning about the trade, highlighting the human side of high-stakes sports decisions.
Covino: "When he found out about the trade, dude was in bed. And he said, 'Is it April 1st?' His heart was broken, honestly." ([05:51])
Rich: "You'Re traded and you threw it?" ([07:04])
Luka's visceral reaction included throwing his phone against the wall, symbolizing his frustration and disbelief. The hosts explore whether such actions stem from genuine anger or a bid for viral attention, debating the impact of public displays of emotion by athletes.
Covino and Rich transition into a broader discussion about managing anger and moments when emotions lead to regrettable actions, using Luka's incident as a springboard.
Covino: "I think it really hit him in a serious way... Have you ever been so mad you did something stupid like that and immediately regret it?" ([07:59])
Rich: "People do it all the time. I think they're ass clowns." ([07:59])
Both hosts share personal stories illustrating their own breaking points. Covino recounts his father’s extreme reactions to teenage antics, such as throwing the TV down the stairs, while Rich describes losing his temper over his children's antics by destroying a TV remote.
Covino: "He took the TV out of her room, ripping it out of the wall and throwing it down the steps." ([09:27])
Rich: "I lost my cool. I'm like, you kids never listen to me. I took the remote, slammed it down on the floor. It shattered in like 25 pieces." ([12:20])
These anecdotes serve to underline the universal struggle with anger management, even among those who strive to maintain control.
The hosts provide real-time updates on ongoing sports events, bringing excitement and detailed analysis to their listeners.
The Cubs vs. Diamondbacks game is described as a "127 it's gone" affair, with multiple grand slams altering the game's momentum. The hosts analyze player performances and the game's dramatic shifts, keeping listeners engaged with the unfolding action.
Additionally, updates on the Lakers' playoff prospects are discussed, with optimism about their chances despite Luka's trade-induced emotions.
In an effort to engage listeners and add levity to the show, Covino and Rich introduce a music challenge inspired by a viral social media trend.
Despite attempts by the hosts and their guests, the challenge proves difficult to execute live, resulting in humorous moments and camaraderie among the team.
Israel Gutierrez: "This is a thing." ([51:37])
Covino: "None of us got it." ([52:49])

As the episode winds down, Covino and Rich reflect on the themes discussed, emphasizing the importance of managing emotions and using personal setbacks as motivation.
Covino: "No one's immune to this. Everybody has a breaking point... I could see it really hit him in a major way. If you act like this all the time, you know, that's the problem." ([36:35])
Rich: "Life can be hectic. Lots of chaos. Just ask Luka, who threw his phone across the room." ([49:21])
