Steve Covino
I don't. That's why I said that. I'm Covino, that is Rich and we be rocking out. Let's go.
Rich Davis
Hey, got some NBA to talk about. Got some baseball to talk about. See my dude Lindor hitting a bomb last night. We we got everything on deck today including Shaq Diesel Trivia.
Steve Covino
Let's be real. When it comes to sports, you're only my dude when you're doing good. Because you know who's not my dude? Devin Williams.
Rich Davis
Not my dude, have you guys seen the.
Steve Covino
Aaron Judge is my dude.
Rich Davis
Have you seen the theory that Pete Alonso broke Devin Williams?
Steve Covino
You kidding me? Be like Aaron Judge. Be like Aaron Gordon. Don't be like Devin Williams. You got to step up in big moments. I'm rooting for Devin Williams to come back and find it. The guy's a big leaguer. He has the potential to be great. We know that. But he's got to be able to do it in New York. He's got to find his way. It's horrible. Yankees would be five games up if it wasn't for his confidence. That's what I think, his lack of confidence. But that's a big man.
Rich Davis
That's a big butt, though.
Steve Covino
That is a big.
Rich Davis
But it's a big if.
Steve Covino
And I love a big butt.
Rich Davis
What does I say? If my aunt had junk, she'd be my uncle.
Steve Covino
That's right.
Rich Davis
So today, on this day, May 6th, before we get into the NBA, let me tell you two things. Let me tell you two things that have happened.
Steve Covino
Leftover tacos today.
Rich Davis
Throughout history. I was saying. I'm going to quiz you, buddy boy. By the way, how are you, Samuel?
Iowa Sam
I'm great, thank you.
Rich Davis
Danny G in the house.
Iowa Sam
Although I would like to see the sun here in la. It's been quite gray and dark and gloomy.
Rich Davis
Agreed, agreed.
Iowa Sam
We're all kind of starving for some vitamin D. Don't worry, it's going to.
Danny G
Be 93 degrees in a couple days.
Iowa Sam
Going to go from Seattle to Phoenix.
Rich Davis
Around here now, on this day, Seiste Maya, which we've always called it, right?
Steve Covino
Always.
Rich Davis
That's if you're on the lake. So two phrases. Tell me what has happened on this day, 1937. Oh, the humanity.
Iowa Sam
We actually have a drop of that. Oh, that's the Hindenburg.
Rich Davis
The Hindenburg.
Iowa Sam
Let me see if we have the. Yeah, here it is.
Steve Covino
Oh, I thought that was when Devin Williams blew the lead again.
Rich Davis
Stop it.
Iowa Sam
Maybe he shouldn't have been allowed to grow a beard.
Rich Davis
I was gonna say it's not. It's not too soon. It was 1937. But. But do you know that happened in New Jersey? I think a lot of people don't realize that happened in Jersey. All the humanity. I think a lot of people think that happened, like, in a foreign country.
Iowa Sam
I think people think it happened in, like, Germany or Austria.
Rich Davis
Yes, that's right.
Iowa Sam
Or like Hungary or when you realize.
Rich Davis
That, oh, it's in Jersey. Yeah, that happened in Jersey.
Steve Covino
That's like that weird fun fact about the Titanic. Like it's not that far away. We think it's somewhere in Alaska.
Rich Davis
Titanic? I don't think it's in Alaska.
Steve Covino
People.
Iowa Sam
It's like Newfoundland area.
Steve Covino
People think it's like really far. It's not that far in England to the grand scheme of New York, New York.
Rich Davis
Right now. The other one, I was Sam.
Dan Beyer
Yes.
Rich Davis
Did she get off the plane? I got off the plane.
Iowa Sam
Hmm.
Rich Davis
21 years ago today.
Steve Covino
21 years ago today, I was dragged to a stupid party that I wish I never went to.
Rich Davis
52 million people watched it.
Steve Covino
I was one of them.
Iowa Sam
I get off the plane. I got off the plane.
Rich Davis
She got off the plane.
Iowa Sam
I don't know this what you're alluding to.
Rich Davis
Danny G. Friends finale.
Iowa Sam
Oh, yeah. I wasn't a friend.
Rich Davis
52 million people watched it.
Iowa Sam
I wasn't a Friends guy.
Rich Davis
And the reason is.
Steve Covino
Yeah, the reason. That's all I remember who was thank had that big song at the time and it was part of the finale.
Rich Davis
Well, I have a theory that if you, if you have clear memories of the the finale of Friends, you're probably due for a colonoscopy because that means you're at least 40 something because that was 21 years ago. Back in.
Steve Covino
I was dragged to a friend's party with a bunch of people who were big fans. I'm like, this is the big finale you're all hyped about. I had no reference point, so wasn't that much fun for me.
Rich Davis
You act like that's shocking. You're in your 20s and friends was a big show and you were dating a hot chick. You don't think she watched Friends?
Steve Covino
Yeah, she took me to her cousin's house for a big friend's party. I'm like, this sucks. I feel like Beavis and Butthead. This sucks.
Rich Davis
You know, you're like the Mexican Ross.
Steve Covino
Yeah, like, what am I doing here? This is the worst show I've ever seen.
Danny G
You don't have to be old rich. Our 14 year old a few weeks ago told her mom I found this show streaming. It's called Friends.
Rich Davis
Great show.
Steve Covino
I mean, listen, thanks for letting us know about it.
Rich Davis
Not my favorite of all time. But to deny the popularity of that show. And you know what? They were the first to do something pretty cool. Which was they were all in it together. Right? Like they all said, we're gonna make the same amount of money. Which takes away the drama.
Steve Covino
It does. And props to them. I can't believe it's been that long. To be honest, that's a major Timestamp. I just didn't watch it growing up. But yeah, of course, I acknowledged the popularity, so that was 21 years ago. Today.
Rich Davis
It's crazy times. Times are flying.
Iowa Sam
Do you know who wrote the theme song?
Rich Davis
The Rembrandts.
Iowa Sam
Was it them?
Steve Covino
Yeah, his name was a Hank Rembrandt.
Iowa Sam
Why was I thinking of some group named the Refreshments?
Rich Davis
No, that's another thing.
Steve Covino
Must be a local band in Iowa.
Rich Davis
You grew up with the look that damn fire gave when you said the refreshments.
Steve Covino
Sam saw them at a carnival in Iowa. The refreshments.
Danny G
This is also the 20 strikeout day game for Kerry Wood.
Dan Beyer
A lot has just happened in this 30 seconds. We announced on the Doug Gottlieb show, I think five days ago that it was the Kerry Wood day. So we've. Yeah, no, you may be right, Danny. I don't. I don't know.
Danny G
But it says May 6, 1998.
Dan Beyer
I'm just saying. But the funny thing with Iowa Sam is Iowa Sam loves these little tidbits that he throws in. And he was. You weren't sure about refreshments on this one, but I so. I so wish he would have said. And of course, that song played by the Refreshments.
Iowa Sam
But not my typical, not smug delivery. I know, and I know Rembrandts reflect.
Dan Beyer
Sam is the guy you love to hate.
Iowa Sam
Try not to be that guy.
Rich Davis
I love you, Sammy. All right, now listen, let's get into it. Last night, the NBA talk about two games that look like they were headed in a direction. And both games last night ended up going the other way. If you had turned on that Knicks Celtics game midway through the third quarter, you were thinking, all right, this is a clear Celtics game one at home victory. You know, Knicks coming off an emotional series where, you know, they went to game seven, and you're like, oh, no, not. Not at all. Boston missed. I believe it was. Danny, check my number. Was it 287, three pointers? They missed.
Danny G
Yes.
Rich Davis
40 something though, right?
Danny G
NBA record.
Steve Covino
Live by the sword, die by the sword sort of thing. They just threw up three pointers and kept missing. That's really it.
Danny G
And they made 16 out of 200 attempts.
Steve Covino
Geez, the Knicks capitalized on that.
Rich Davis
And then Jalen Brunson at the end of regulation, he probably thought, oh, I had it and blew it. But he didn't. Went to overtime. Knicks came out on top. And then last night, I had left. I had. I had a late softball game.
Danny G
Oh, really quick, though. You got to mention Mikel Bridges because He, of course, on both sides of the floor ended that game.
Rich Davis
No doubt. Now I'm at the ball field last night, late night game. I hate those 9 o'clock games. You're like tired and you're like, oh, I got to go have a game now. All the guys are watching on their phone and you're like, you know, this game's out of reach. Look at this game. One OKC one seed, better record than everyone all year round. They're going to win this one. And then slowly but surely, Denver's chipping away, goes on a little bit of a run. And talk about mismanaging the free throw game at the end.
Danny G
Oh, 13.9 seconds left. And they decided, you know what? We'll play the free throw game, the foul game. And it did not work out in their favor as Homegren clank those two. And then of course the shot over the top of them by Gordon.
Steve Covino
But let's not forget to.
Rich Davis
You blow it. You blew it.
Steve Covino
Let's not forget too though. Both teams, Knicks and the Nuggies, stole one away. Stole one away. So those are heartbreakers, hard to recover from.
Rich Davis
Now you got to ask yourself the question, who blew it? Who blew it more, by the way.
Steve Covino
You quoting Billy Madison or Robert De Niro in Kaplan?
Rich Davis
See, I go Madison. I know you go De Niro.
Steve Covino
De Niro says, I gave you a chance to be a real cop and you blew it. And Stallone is like, yo, like, absolutely. Why? Why are you yelling at me like, yo, Bobby. Bobby D. Absolutely.
Rich Davis
No, See, I go Billy Madison when Ernie's on the phone with, you know.
Steve Covino
Those are two years, Veronica, who went.
Rich Davis
Veronica Vaughn, you blew it.
Steve Covino
But people forget the cop land line. It's very similar.
Rich Davis
So, I mean, I have my answer and I'll let you know and you tell me if you agree or not.
Steve Covino
You blew it.
Rich Davis
You blew it. I'm going Sandler. Oh, Billy, you blew it.
Steve Covino
That's Sandler.
Rich Davis
I think Boston could very well recover. I think the Knicks are a great team. I'm rooting for the Knicks. I think everyone is except Dave Portnoy. Like, unless you're a Celtics fan and you're Die Hard, I think everyone's like, celtics won last year. They have a dynasty. Over the years, I felt the same.
Steve Covino
Way Danny G. Felt. He hit us immediately with the text. You know, we're watching the game, but he hit us with, man, they're showing signs of life where it looks like they really could win. They might have that chance to win, and we haven't Said that in a long time about the Knicks.
Rich Davis
There's, there's Celtics fans that are still saying oh gentleman sweep. Where you give the other team one game and it very well could happen. The Celtics are your defending champions, but our parents grew up with the Celtics dominating. We grew up at a time of Larry Bird. We saw Kevin Garnett. We've seen this team win throughout different st. The Knicks in our lifetime have never won the Starks and Ewing days. Then you could say Sprewell era. Sprewell era. It just. They can never put it together.
Danny G
Then the Carmelo playoff run.
Steve Covino
Oh yeah, that's right, the Carmelo era. Yeah, they had some good squads and they had some fun players to watch. So they gave you some reason to root because they had fun players and you believed in them. But they never amounted really to much.
Rich Davis
So I think that that series is going to go six or seven regardless. I could be totally wrong. I love they match up well. I think it's fun to watch. The Knicks are for real, but the Celtics, again defending champions, I think they may look back and that's where the series went wrong. But I think OKC for as dominant as they were, and I know regular season at this point means nothing, but we got to remember they were roughly 20 games better than anyone else. Like it wasn't even close. Like their one seed status. I bet you if you look back over the last 10, 20, 30 years of the NBA, the difference between the one seed and two seed, very rarely is it that steep. Like OKC was, they pretty much clinched the one seed like a month ago, two months ago.
Steve Covino
Make the point too though. We're super pumped about this because there's nothing really like playoff basketball. Like the regular season is just for the most part. And then when you see how intense it gets in the playoffs, you're like, damn, why don't they play this way throughout the entire season? It's next level excitement. And the analogy goes, if your woman is capable of freaky deaky things in the bedroom, but she reserves it for holidays and your birthday and things like that, special occasions, it makes you think, well if you're capable of this, why not all the time?
Rich Davis
What do you do? You're naked, hanging from the chandelier and man, the stuff you do on vacation.
Steve Covino
Honey, that's how the NBA playoffs makes you feel. It's like if the NBA is capable of this, and I understand they have to tiptoe around and not get hurt throughout regular season.
Rich Davis
Oh, is load management, your kids getting in the way it's just such a.
Steve Covino
Major contrast from playoffs to regular season. So of course you're pulled in and excited about it. It's the time to tune in, guys. These games are insanely intense.
Rich Davis
I've always said that the NBA playoffs are like hotel sex. I've said it my whole life. But it really is, like, amped up to a new level.
Steve Covino
That's it, really. NBA playoffs are like hotel sex. You nailed it.
Rich Davis
And you wonder, why can't it be like this all the time?
Steve Covino
Vacation, like, vacation sex.
Rich Davis
Geez, now I'm thinking dirty thoughts and how much I love the NBA playoffs.
Steve Covino
Because don't tell me you don't think. Why can't every day be like that?
Rich Davis
Oh, look at you. Prime to go.
Steve Covino
No, I'm just saying that's how you feel. You're sitting there because don't tell me you're not watching these games. Like, if the games were this exciting all throughout the season, you'd be a hell of a bigger NBA fan. We'd be talking about it every day. And that's how it's been pretty much our whole life. Well, it's nothing like NBA playoffs.
Rich Davis
The playoffs, like I said. Why is hotel sex like the NBA playoffs? Because there's preparation that goes into it. What happens. You're going to Hawaii for a week. Your wife's at the spa, you know, waxing. You're gearing up for it. I think the teams have geared up for this moment, and here we are. They're going all out, holding back nothing.
Steve Covino
But it's so evident, man. So evident.
Rich Davis
They're. They're doing whatever it takes.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Rich Davis
Now, I think OKC back to them. 20 games better than everyone else. It was a joke how good they were in the regular season, but seems like an easy argument to make.
Steve Covino
So young team they're playing a team with. With playoff swag and experience.
Rich Davis
Yeah, you took the words out of my mouth. I think it's. It's easy. It's an easy argument to say best team, but young team. So when you lose Game 1 to the team that won the NBA title two years ago with your possible.
Steve Covino
You know what I call that?
Rich Davis
Mvp. Jokic. Now, Jokic, SGA are arguably your two best players.
Steve Covino
I call that a mole of rom. You know why?
Rich Davis
Oh, why?
Steve Covino
Because the Nuggets took their heart out. Kalima.
Rich Davis
Kalima.
Steve Covino
Kalima. They took the heart out of this young team yesterday. That's how I feel about it. Could they turn it around? Be fun to see. But to me, that's a heart Ripper.
Danny G
It was the mismanagement of the clock. Right, Rich, that has the Thunder winning this bad competition.
Rich Davis
Yeah. When you blow a game one and you can think of many series in the past where one team had game one sort of not in the bag, but under, you know, under control, and then they let it slip away, and that could really change the series. I remember there was one NBA Finals where LeBron and the Cavs had Game 1. When LeBron was with the Cavs, they had Game 1 under control, and they let it slip away to Golden State. One of the many years they lost to the warriors in the playoffs, in the finals. But game one on the road, picking up a W against okc, that's got to give Jokic and his, you know, team and of course, confidence in their coaches.
Steve Covino
How about that? Look with Westbrook hitting Gordon with the Open 3, and you take that every time, as he said at the end of the game, like when you got that open shot, you take it and he made it coming in clutch. You got to give props to that. Again, that all comes with the composure and experience of being there before. And the Thunder again have their back against the wall saying, home, no Shivay. Home no Shivay, home no Shabbat. And you got Aaron Gordon and Jokic being like, got him. So it was heartbreaking. Heart ripped out yesterday, but, man, we reaped all the benefits because that was fun to watch as again, a fan with no horse in the race. That's just great basketball.
Rich Davis
Yeah. So, hey, your thoughts at 87799 on Fox. If you had to say who blew it?
Steve Covino
Which goes to show you, with all the criticism, NBA still got it. You know, we spent a lot of the year, like, man, what's going on at the NBA? We've been. We always do that.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
But when it comes playoff time, so exciting.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
And I know, Rich, you were making that case, you know, on our patreon about hockey as well, but, man, some great, great games yesterday.
Rich Davis
And again, we'll take your feedback.
Steve Covino
So is your question who blew it more, the Celtics or the Thunder? Man, that's a good one. I'd have to say the Thunder because more on. On the line and at stake for them to come back when the Celtics have that experience and have that confidence and inner belief of we've been there before and we got this and we're the champs. I think more for them, more props to them. I think the Thunder in a tougher spot.
Rich Davis
It's almost like a mulligan. Like, Celtics have been there like, we'll start over fresh now.
Steve Covino
So I'm going to say my answer to Thunder blew it more.
Rich Davis
And the Thunder haven't been this confident and you know, projected to be this good.
Dan Beyer
The Thunder also were in position to win. Like the Knicks had a chance at the regulate at the end of regulation with a shot to win that Brunson's just didn't go down. Granted, the Celtics missed a shot prior, but Knicks could have got the ball back. But it seemed the Thunder in prime spot and let the Nuggets hang around a little bit more than they should. Made some bad decisions in the final seconds and a comeback comes back to.
Rich Davis
Bite him, you know, for, you know, for Sirius xm. Kavino and I do some music stuff over there. He's on the rock channels, I'm on the pop channels. And not to break the glass once in a while I record stuff early, you know, for the next day if I, if I'm busy. And I had to go back and change things because when that game before I left for softball last night, late night, I'm like 10 point lead, second half.
Steve Covino
You took a chance.
Rich Davis
I did the old hey, and congrats last night.
Steve Covino
You were counting chickens.
Rich Davis
You know, congrats to the Knicks and congrats to the, the Thunder. And then I had to go back and be like, oh, let me change that. Wow, I think we've all done that in broadcast. I think you also have to give.
Steve Covino
Props to not only, you know, Aaron Gordon and Murray and the usual suspects, Yokich, but Russell Westbrook's energy throughout this run has been really contagious too. I think he's playing with a lot of contagious energy, keeping the team hype, making great decisions. We saw that last night. It just again, it's just something I'm noticing, playing with a next level intensity.
Dan Beyer
I also do want to say Danny G. Is right, that it happened, the Kerry Wood game. It did happen. How many years ago?
Danny G
1998.
Dan Beyer
1927 years ago today. J. Stu qualified it as saying that when he brought it up last week, he was saying this was the week that the Kerry Wood game happened.
Steve Covino
Anniversary week.
Dan Beyer
Do you guys know what happened eight years ago today?
Rich Davis
Eight years would be 2017. Yeah.
Steve Covino
On this day, sports or pop culture related?
Dan Beyer
Like neither. Iowa. Sam, do you know eight?
Iowa Sam
No.
Dan Beyer
Yeah. Well, it's my anniversary. I got married eight years ago today.
Rich Davis
Anniversary. Happy anniversary. I heard you your wedding band. The refreshments.
Steve Covino
Tuna are delicious.
Rich Davis
They're great. They're great.
Dan Beyer
Thanks for getting, thanks for getting Sam.
Iowa Sam
That was one thing. Dan just told me this, like, within the hour. I said, oh, how many years are you celebrating? Eight years. And I flopped on that. I looked up the refreshments. They wrote this song called Yahoos and Triangles, which is the theme song to King of the Hill. So it was two bands that started with re. Two 90s shows, and I just got them confused.
Rich Davis
Yeah, but let's not overlook what Dan Byer just said. Not about. Not about the Thunder, not about the Celtics. We wouldn't know it was DB's anniversary. But that was just to prove that I was. Sam didn't care. Or listen to something he said within the last.
Dan Beyer
I asked 100%.
Iowa Sam
Dan, how many. How many years? You said eight, and then I just forgot. It just went out one ear in one year, out the other.
Dan Beyer
Not care.
Iowa Sam
I did care.
Steve Covino
Happy anniversary, though, Dan.
Dan Beyer
Thank you. Thank you very much.
Steve Covino
That is pretty cool, man. Eight years ago today. Any big plans? Some hibachi tonight or leftover tacos?
Dan Beyer
No, I said, I go. We're gonna get. We're gonna go to a hibachi or we're gonna watch a Rocky marathon.
Rich Davis
Yeah. That's the only two things he's ever done. I love that. Db, enjoy your anniversary.
Dan Beyer
Thank you.
Rich Davis
Guys like the NBA playoffs. We like your anniversary.
Steve Covino
You know what that means. Dan's having some fun tonight.
Rich Davis
Oh. Have fun.
Steve Covino
Respectfully, db.
Rich Davis
Respectfully. All right. Hey, we got more coming on Rich. Coming up, we'll talk some NBA playoffs. In fact, we'll take your phone calls. I see them lined up now. Who blew it more? This story about covering for people in a big spot in the world of sports, life, work.
Steve Covino
There's a few stories.
Rich Davis
Have you ever had to cover for someone in a. In a. In a really tricky spot where they. They don't show up or they bail, something happens and you have to step in. We'll get to that. Plus Shaq Diesel trivia and a funny baseball card story we'll get to all next. Right here, Fox Sports Radio.
Steve Covino
It's playoff time, and if you're still just watching games, you're missing out with pick six from DraftKings. You turn your hoops knowledge into real cash. Just make your picks track your score, and if you hit all six, you're looking at bigger payouts than prize picks. Flex plays.
Rich Davis
Well, hey, tonight, pick six. Draft. Kings, Pacers, Cavs, Warriors, Wolves. You know, I'm. I got to think about this. The. You know what? I'm going to take a look. I'm going to. I'm going to take a look at next hour. I'm going to let you know what I'm thinking because what do you think the over under on Steph is? That's what I'm thinking. He's going to step it up tonight because it can't be about Buddy healed every game. So we'll figure it out. Nobody's dropping better payouts than pick six from DraftKings. So if you hit six picks, that's 25 times your cash. And if you beat the competition, you could be looking at up to 500 times bagging in your cash. So right now new customers get $50 in bonus picks with just a $5 entry.
Steve Covino
Playoffs are on, so why not take a shot at making a little money while you're watching? Download the DraftKings pick six app right now and use code SCRD Steve Cavino Rich Davis that's code SCRD to play $5 and get $50 in bonus picks.
Rich Davis
Scurd sc scrd I just said that back here. I was going scurd scrd don't be scurred. Better payouts, bigger wins only on pick six from DraftKings. Scurred. The crown is yours.

Rich Davis
Know you're a big Caitlyn Clark fan, Iowa Sam.
Iowa Sam
You betcha.
Rich Davis
Today's Angel Reese's 23rd birthday.
Iowa Sam
Congrats.
Rich Davis
So her nemesis, what'd you get her? Reese's puffs. Do you see her on cereal in the supermarket? That's a pretty cool endorsement.
Steve Covino
I'm a peanut butter crunch guy. Sorry.
Rich Davis
I wanted to bring something up before we get to your phone calls on who blew it. You blew it.
Steve Covino
I gave you a chance to beat the Nuggets in.
Rich Davis
You blew it again. I'm going sandler.
Steve Covino
That's my De Niro. You like that?
Rich Davis
Celtics or okc? We'll take your feedback, but I want to say there's a viral clip going around today. And.
Steve Covino
Oh, the crabs in the air fryer.
Rich Davis
No, but that's weird. I did see that.
Steve Covino
Crabs in the air. Live crabs in the air fryer. Sweep in the nation.
Rich Davis
People think they're crying, but they're not. They don't have vocal cords. But it looks like these crabs are.
Steve Covino
Like, it still seems extra cruel for whatever reason.
Rich Davis
I mean, throw. Oh, I know.
Steve Covino
Is it how many don zimmers? Can 100 don zimmers beat one Pedro Martinez?
Rich Davis
I do love that. Funny, that's my favorite new hypothetical. How many? Yeah, could a hundred Zimmers versus one Pedro.
Steve Covino
I got it broken down for you. Can 100 Don Zimmers beat one Pedro Martinez? Because Don Zimmer was 72 at the time, which put it in perspective. That's like our dad's age now.
Rich Davis
He looked way old, right?
Steve Covino
And Pedro was 31 in 2003. So could 172-year-old Don Zimmers beat one 31? Healthy Jerry curl having Pedro Martinez in.
Rich Davis
His prime now I'm going to say.
Steve Covino
I'm taking the Zimmers, especially if he's wearing those army helmets. Remember Don Zimmer with the army helmet in the dugout?
Danny G
He's kind of like a rhino.
Rich Davis
I think it would take 15 zimmers to beat up a Pedro.
Steve Covino
Me too. Yeah.
Danny G
Okay. I have a new one for you guys. I came up with this one. Could 100 Robin Ventura's beat one Nolan Ryan.
Rich Davis
Oh, no. Yeah, Yeah. I think you need, like, three of them. Three of them? No. I was gonna say a viral video today. And it's the ultimate in, as they say, f around and find out.
Steve Covino
Oh, boy.
Rich Davis
At the Pirates game. And again, all this is a legend and what we're just seeing from a YouTube clip. So what do we know? The real story. But apparently some fan was, you know, annoying some female fans. The usher steps in and they take it to the concourse, and this fan, bearded dude, spits in this guy's face.
Steve Covino
Ultimate insult.
Rich Davis
Keeps spitting.
Steve Covino
Wow.
Rich Davis
This dude working at the stadium has the look on his face like, yo, I've had enough.
Steve Covino
Yeah. I mean, that's. I mean, what's more insulting than that?
Rich Davis
Not only does he go to punch this guy and punch him, stands up, you know, he's in his. Takes his belt out, and he's like, yeah, mother it starts whipping the guy. This guy's been suspended from PNC and the Pirates. But I'll tell you what, man, if you're working at a stadium, probably not making the greatest wage, and someone thinks they could spit at you, I think that's worthy. Lose your cool. I think it's worthy to lose your cool.
Steve Covino
I'd say he was pretty kind, busting out the belt. And I think that's kind of funny, actually.
Rich Davis
Guy whooped his ass.
Iowa Sam
Fan needed specifically, who got PNC suspended the employee.
Rich Davis
But you know what, Sam? A lot of times people think because someone works somewhere, they could do whatever they want. Let me tell you a quick story. I was working in New York City, and behind the counter was some, like, young, hustling Latino kid.
Steve Covino
And was this when you worked at the sex shop? Sex shop where? In New York City?
Rich Davis
This is in midtown. This is a little deli, a little place.
Steve Covino
You weren't working. You're just there?
Rich Davis
Yeah. I'm going to get a little muffin and a coffee. And the guy behind the counter, young kid on his hustle, some douchey corporate banker guy is like, my muffin and coffee, please. And he starts mouthing off to this kid. And this kid eventually was like, yo, man, you can't talk to me like that. He hops over the counter, rips off his little pastry shirt. He had. He had a tank top on and he was all tatted up. He's like, yo, man, let's go.
Steve Covino
Respectfully, my guy, let's go.
Rich Davis
And I remember thinking like, yeah, just because someone's on the other side of the counter, people are so bold and they.
Steve Covino
When they don't care about their job. Yeah, part time nonsense.
Rich Davis
Yeah. This guy's like, yo, you think I care about this job?
Steve Covino
And I'm going to let you disrespect my mama for a part time job?
Rich Davis
And all I kept thinking was like, I got a front row seat. I just watched.
Steve Covino
Dude, I used to sit at a broadcast booth at every live show. Broadcast.
Rich Davis
Remember I told you the payoff to that story, though? The. The douchey corporate guy backed down and he's like, well, you're lucky. I gotta go. I have a very important meeting. And he ran away.
Steve Covino
And he ran away with very important people.
Rich Davis
I have an important meeting with very important people.
Steve Covino
So, yeah, he straightened up real quick.
Rich Davis
But yo, we forget sometimes they did.
Steve Covino
The beat it dance when they weren't really fighting, they were just like sort of dancing around.
Rich Davis
Danny, you've noticed that, right? Like, sometimes people talk to an employee as if like, so little respect.
Danny G
We've all seen the viral clips of McDonald's. Some McDonald's employees jumping over. Oh, the counter.
Steve Covino
Yeah, people don't care. They think because you're behind a counter that they could say what they want. As if you can't reach over and punch them in the nose. Again, you're risking your job. But again, I'd be at a live broadcast. I don't know, I'd be a corn at Madison Square Garden and there would be fans coming up to, you guys suck.
Rich Davis
Your radio station sucks.
Steve Covino
And they would take all their anger out on me. I'm just sitting there, like at a broadcast. You don't know how many times I just wanted to step over and karate kick him. But my job was too important to me. I looked at it like a career.
Rich Davis
I know there's rules of what we could say and can't say on Fox Sports Radio.
Steve Covino
Say what they want.
Rich Davis
But I will say this, Sam, get the finger on the button in case I say something, because I know there's rules about bathroom stuff. Kavino has a story where some disgruntled rock fan was like, k Rock sellout, you're mainstream. The guy climbed on top of Cavino's KROC van. Pulled down his pants on the hood of the car.
Steve Covino
On the car? Yeah.
Danny G
He said they were the number two station in town.
Rich Davis
Yes, the number two. Yeah.
Steve Covino
Because a lot of those college stations in New Jersey is wsou. They have their metal fans that looked at like terrestrial commercial radio as like, you guys suck.
Rich Davis
But it's wild to think that because someone's working, there's an odd feeling like you could be terribly rude to them.
Dan Beyer
I thought that guy worked at krap. I'm not sure.
Steve Covino
It was that woman from Delco, actually. I don't know if you saw that.
Rich Davis
Yeah, that's a good one.
Steve Covino
That was really.
Rich Davis
Yeah. With that damn buyer. Let's get to your update, guys.
Dan Beyer
It's been a crazy afternoon in the Champions League semifinal between Barcelona and Inter Milan. Right now they are in extra time and in stoppage time. In extra time. So 120 minutes have gone by. Inter Milan lead 76 on aggregate. They lead this second leg, 4 3. But just two minutes of extra time. So Barcelona time running out for them. Inter Milan, oh, so close to advancing to the Champions League final. Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty will not race in the Preakness Stakes. The Kentucky Derby winner will run in the Belmont coming up in early June, according to trainer Bill Mott. Celtics list Sam Houser is doubtful for Game 2 tomorrow against the Knicks because of a sprained ankle. While Kristaps Porzingis is probable to play. He missed the second half of last night's game because of an illness. Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Deandre Hunter questionable for the Cavs tonight as they host the pacers in game two. Warriors and Timberwolves will start their series at 9:30 Eastern Time in Minneapolis. Thunder GM Sam Presti named the NBA's executive of the Year today. Florida gave men's basketball coach Todd Golden a six year extension worth 40 and a half million dollars. He's now under contract through 2031 after his squad won the national championship. Browns rookie quarterback Shador Sanders will wear number 12 in Cleveland. Fellow rookie quarterback Dylan Gabriel will wear jersey number five in the seventh. The Guardians lead the Nationals 6 5. Cleveland, though, does have the bases loaded with just one out in the top of the seventh. And it's now a final. Inter Milan will advance to the Champions League final with their 76 victory on aggregate over FC Barcelona. Guys, back to you.
Rich Davis
Thank you. Dan Beyer is.
Steve Covino
Barcelona.
Rich Davis
Barcelona. Barcelona.
Dan Beyer
You see that TikTok guy?
Iowa Sam
Yes.
Dan Beyer
I showed it to Ryan Bersinger. He did not laugh as hard as I thought that he would. That guy's so weird, but it's so spot on. I thought it was great.
Steve Covino
Thank you. D.B.
Rich Davis
Tell us. Tell the rest of us. Just the guy that does the. Barcelona. Yeah.
Steve Covino
There's a guy who put the All.
Dan Beyer
Cities, but he does his whole build up.
Steve Covino
Yes.
Dan Beyer
Of it. It's very, very good.
Rich Davis
Barcelona.
Steve Covino
Barcelona.
Rich Davis
You know, let's wrap up our previous conversation. Let's say hi to our pal C section Gym in Facilia, who blew it more to wrap it up. Was it okc, the number one seed, who let a late lead get away? Or is it the Celtics at home?
Steve Covino
And let me know. I'm saying it's. It's the Thunder because they can't afford to lose a game.
Rich Davis
Yeah. What's up, man?
Steve Covino
My turn to speak now.
Rich Davis
I mean.
Steve Covino
Yeah, yeah, you got it.
Rich Davis
I mean, with that Mr.
Steve Covino
Attitude person. So I'm going to say the Celtics, because they're the defending champs. They should have known better.
Rich Davis
Yeah. But also, when a team is a defending champs, there's a sense of, like, they have the composure to bounce back in game two.
Steve Covino
And composure, not.
Rich Davis
Yeah, let it get to them. Where OKC might say, oh, man. Like, it might be in their head that, like, we're younger. They won the NBA title two years ago, even if there's that little subconscious thought in the back of their head. By the way, C section Jim came in hot.
Danny G
I think he was kidding around. You were joking, right? C § Jim?
Steve Covino
I'm still here. Oh, man. Jeez. Someone's Tony's here. Someone's Tony's are all in a bunch right now.
Rich Davis
Love, love you, C section Jim.
Steve Covino
Yeah, thanks for the call, man.
Rich Davis
Bye now. Have a good one.
Steve Covino
We'll make that guy wait.
Rich Davis
Geez. All right. Hey, we got more Covino and Rich now. Coming up, we got Shaq, Diesel, trivia and times you covered for someone in a big spot. There's some stories in the sports world that all sort of apply. That's coming up right here on Fox Sports. Ready you.

Rich Davis
I'm looking at some pictures of the Met gala last night. Where's Pete Alonzo?
Steve Covino
Is Timmy Duffel there or no.
Rich Davis
Yeah. Oh, there's Benny Agbayani.
Iowa Sam
Oh, the Met gala.
Rich Davis
Whoa.
Steve Covino
We're live from the FOX Sports radio studio. And it's time. It's time for our tire rack play of the day. The Knicks came all the way back against the Celtics. Mikel Bridges finished off Boston on both sides of the court. Hit it. Sam White has the ball, holds it.
Rich Davis
High, throws it to Brown. Left wing stripped by Bridges, hangs onto it, took it away, throws it down court. And the New York Knicks stun the Celtics. 108. 105. The Final the Knicks save their biggest comeback of the season for the biggest win of the year. Damn. For over 40 years, Tire Rack has been helping customers find the right tires for how, what and where they drive. And by the way, that's courtesy of Knicks radio network. Your tire act play of the day. And tyrant's always hooking you up. Convenient installation options, mobile tire installation. Tirek.com the way tire buying should be. If you were in Boston and someone said khakis, what do you think they're saying? Is that car keys or pants?
Steve Covino
Those pleated pants that I don't wear?
Talkspace Ad
Yeah, those khakis.
Danny G
Talking about the Colorado Rockies.
Steve Covino
So hope you had a New York Knicks nuggies sort of night. And thank you guys for hanging out with us on this seistemayo as we get ready for Shaq Diesel trivia. Next hour, your chance to win a swiggy. The coveted swiggy by answering some multiple choice questions. But any final thoughts on who blew it?
Rich Davis
Rich, who blew it?
Steve Covino
I gave you my answer. I feel like you didn't give your answer.
Rich Davis
You posed questions. I gave the answer, dummy. I said OKC blew it because.
Steve Covino
Oh, I thought you were saying. Okay, see, I didn't know. I thought you kicked into old school gangster.
Rich Davis
If you thought I was pretending to be a gangster from the 1920s, my apologies. That's. My answer is okay, see, it's because with SGA and that, you know, they're younger than the Nuggets, so there's a part of me that thinks you're. Just because you're a superstar athlete does not mean you're immune to subconscious pressure.
Steve Covino
Yeah, we agree.
Rich Davis
You know, you Met have been 20 games better than everyone in the regular season and SGA is arguably your MVP. Him or YIC. Right.
Steve Covino
So what do you think about what Dan Patrick was talking about today about guys like Aaron Gordon being in the hall of Good. The hall of Very Good. Not a Hall of Famer, but like moments like he had last night put him in the hall of Very Good. He's a champion set, clutch shots.
Rich Davis
You and I invented this. So as much as I love Dan Patrick, in fact he's, you know, one of the guys we look up to very much. But you and I for years have been saying every sports hall of Fame.
Steve Covino
That'S a very Rocky Balboa statement. He's like one of the guys we look up, up to very much.
Rich Davis
Actually, I look up to him very much.
Steve Covino
I look up to very much.
Rich Davis
But I think for years, for years. I know, I know we're not alone. But you and I have been saying that every hall of Fame music, sports, anything should have a wing where it's not necessarily dedicated to the greatest, but sometimes the greatest moments. Like in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame, like there should be a one hit wonder section in the, in the world of sports, there should be a section where it's like, yo, this play meant so much.
Steve Covino
Like a tyree. It's a Hall of Fame moment, like David hall of Fame player, but that moment is a Hall of Fame moment. So yeah, the hall of moments, it should be a wing. I agree. And Gordon has a few of those.
Rich Davis
Yeah, there's big game players and I, you know, since I'm the number one coach here in Fox Sports Radio, I talk to my kids about that start. I talk to my kids about being big game players because we started doing, you know, our playoffs for the girls softball. My daughter and I'm like, yeah, girls in baseball, in women's basketball, basketball for men. You know, there's something as a big game player where in games like this, you step it up because you see it.
Steve Covino
I love to thrive under the bright lights in those pressure moments. The big shot bobbies of the world. I mean, to me, it just says so much about who you are to be able to step up when it counts. I mean, to perform well when it doesn't matter. Yeah, good for you. But it's a next level accomplishment when it matters.
Rich Davis
Now, I wanted to. I wanted to bring up one thing, and then I know we're going to talk about times you covered for someone in a big spot. There's a couple stories. But, Kavino, I think I told you this once before. Is it okay to teach little kids to play angry in today's world? I don't know.
Steve Covino
These weenie parents.
Rich Davis
Today I decided my son yesterday, we're doing a little batting practice in the yard.
Steve Covino
I say, I say yes, but I'd say be careful.
Rich Davis
So I think I'll tell you what, I did pass along a little info to some of the other parents coaching. So I realized my son got really mad at my daughter. He picked up a baseball and threw it to me with the speed and intensity. He's never thrown a baseball before.
Steve Covino
Yeah, play mad.
Rich Davis
I go, do that again. That's why I'm mad. I go throw mad. I go, pick up every ball there and throw it to me mad. Yo, dude, he threw it twice as far as he does when he's playing around in T ball. And I go, yo, show me a mad swing. He takes a bat.
Steve Covino
He's like, ah, isn't this the teaching methods of Coach Klein from the waterboy? You think you're an original? Didn't he tell. Didn't he tell the water, Bobby Boucher?
Rich Davis
The water stinks.
Steve Covino
Yeah, yeah, like you're acting.
Iowa Sam
Water sucks. Yeah, really sucks.
Steve Covino
This guy's trying to sell Coach Klein's playbook. That's happened already.
Iowa Sam
So wait, I hate him. I hate him. I hate him.
Rich Davis
You're telling me that I'm taking a page out of our buddy Henry Winkler's playbook Sucks.
Iowa Sam
I see Iowa Hawkeyes in the field, too. All Henry Winkler's head with the Iowa uniform.
Rich Davis
The best part of the movie.
Steve Covino
And he thinks he invented it.
Rich Davis
I thought I did. I guess not. But what I told my son was, and I'm gonna tell the other boys on my team, on my team, kids, T ball.
Steve Covino
Does that make your son Bobby Boucher?
Rich Davis
Yeah, my. So I. I told him, I go, I. I always. I go, give me a whole. I go, who's angry? He goes, the Hulk. I go, all right, Hulk throw. Incredible Hulk. So tackling fuel you don't realize sometimes that kids, kids are half assing it until you tell them like, come on.
Steve Covino
I like that. Yeah. They don't understand the word hustle or intensity. They understand that.
Rich Davis
More CNR next. Jinx.
