Well, I have a theory that if you, if you have clear memories of the the finale of Friends, you're probably due for a colonoscopy because that means you're at least 40 something because that was 21 years ago. Back in.

I was dragged to a friend's party with a bunch of people who were big fans. I'm like, this is the big finale you're all hyped about. I had no reference point, so wasn't that much fun for me.

[Rich Davis]

You act like that's shocking. You're in your 20s and friends was a big show and you were dating a hot chick. You don't think she watched Friends?

[Steve Covino]

Yeah, she took me to her cousin's house for a big friend's party. I'm like, this sucks. I feel like Beavis and Butthead. This sucks.

[Rich Davis]

You know, you're like the Mexican Ross.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah, like, what am I doing here? This is the worst show I've ever seen.

[Danny G]

You don't have to be old rich. Our 14 year old a few weeks ago told her mom I found this show streaming. It's called Friends.

[Rich Davis]

I mean, listen, thanks for letting us know about it.

Not my favorite of all time. But to deny the popularity of that show. And you know what? They were the first to do something pretty cool. Which was they were all in it together. Right? Like they all said, we're gonna make the same amount of money. Which takes away the drama.

It does. And props to them. I can't believe it's been that long. To be honest, that's a major Timestamp. I just didn't watch it growing up. But yeah, of course, I acknowledged the popularity, so that was 21 years ago. Today.

[Rich Davis]

It's crazy times. Times are flying.

Do you know who wrote the theme song?

The Rembrandts.

A lot has just happened in this 30 seconds. We announced on the Doug Gottlieb show, I think five days ago that it was the Kerry Wood day. So we've. Yeah, no, you may be right, Danny. I don't. I don't know.

But it says May 6, 1998.

I'm just saying. But the funny thing with Iowa Sam is Iowa Sam loves these little tidbits that he throws in. And he was. You weren't sure about refreshments on this one, but I so. I so wish he would have said. And of course, that song played by the Refreshments.

But not my typical, not smug delivery. I know, and I know Rembrandts reflect.

Sam is the guy you love to hate.

I love you, Sammy. All right, now listen, let's get into it. Last night, the NBA talk about two games that look like they were headed in a direction. And both games last night ended up going the other way. If you had turned on that Knicks Celtics game midway through the third quarter, you were thinking, all right, this is a clear Celtics game one at home victory. You know, Knicks coming off an emotional series where, you know, they went to game seven, and you're like, oh, no, not. Not at all. Boston missed. I believe it was. Danny, check my number. Was it 287, three pointers? They missed.

[Danny G]

Yes.

[Rich Davis]

40 something though, right?

[Danny G]

NBA record.

[Steve Covino]

Live by the sword, die by the sword sort of thing. They just threw up three pointers and kept missing. That's really it.

[Danny G]

And they made 16 out of 200 attempts.

[Steve Covino]

Geez, the Knicks capitalized on that.

[Rich Davis]

And then Jalen Brunson at the end of regulation, he probably thought, oh, I had it and blew it. But he didn't. Went to overtime. Knicks came out on top. And then last night, I had left. I had. I had a late softball game.

[Danny G]

Oh, really quick, though. You got to mention Mikel Bridges because He, of course, on both sides of the floor ended that game.

[Rich Davis]

No doubt. Now I'm at the ball field last night, late night game. I hate those 9 o'clock games. You're like tired and you're like, oh, I got to go have a game now. All the guys are watching on their phone and you're like, you know, this game's out of reach. Look at this game. One OKC one seed, better record than everyone all year round. They're going to win this one. And then slowly but surely, Denver's chipping away, goes on a little bit of a run. And talk about mismanaging the free throw game at the end.

[Danny G]

Oh, 13.9 seconds left. And they decided, you know what? We'll play the free throw game, the foul game. And it did not work out in their favor as Homegren clank those two. And then of course the shot over the top of them by Gordon.

[Steve Covino]

But let's not forget to.

[Rich Davis]

You blow it. You blew it.

[Steve Covino]

Let's not forget too though. Both teams, Knicks and the Nuggies, stole one away. Stole one away. So those are heartbreakers, hard to recover from.

[Rich Davis]

Now you got to ask yourself the question, who blew it? Who blew it more, by the way.

[Steve Covino]

You quoting Billy Madison or Robert De Niro in Kaplan?

[Rich Davis]

See, I go Madison. I know you go De Niro.

[Steve Covino]

De Niro says, I gave you a chance to be a real cop and you blew it. And Stallone is like, yo, like, absolutely. Why? Why are you yelling at me like, yo, Bobby. Bobby D. Absolutely.

[Rich Davis]

No, See, I go Billy Madison when Ernie's on the phone with, you know.

[Steve Covino]

Those are two years, Veronica, who went.

Veronica Vaughn, you blew it.

But people forget the cop land line. It's very similar.

So, I mean, I have my answer and I'll let you know and you tell me if you agree or not.

I think Boston could very well recover. I think the Knicks are a great team. I'm rooting for the Knicks. I think everyone is except Dave Portnoy. Like, unless you're a Celtics fan and you're Die Hard, I think everyone's like, celtics won last year. They have a dynasty. Over the years, I felt the same.

[Steve Covino]

Way Danny G. Felt. He hit us immediately with the text. You know, we're watching the game, but he hit us with, man, they're showing signs of life where it looks like they really could win. They might have that chance to win, and we haven't Said that in a long time about the Knicks.

[Rich Davis]

There's, there's Celtics fans that are still saying oh gentleman sweep. Where you give the other team one game and it very well could happen. The Celtics are your defending champions, but our parents grew up with the Celtics dominating. We grew up at a time of Larry Bird. We saw Kevin Garnett. We've seen this team win throughout different st. The Knicks in our lifetime have never won the Starks and Ewing days. Then you could say Sprewell era. Sprewell era. It just. They can never put it together.

[Danny G]

Then the Carmelo playoff run.

[Steve Covino]

Oh yeah, that's right, the Carmelo era. Yeah, they had some good squads and they had some fun players to watch. So they gave you some reason to root because they had fun players and you believed in them. But they never amounted really to much.

[Rich Davis]

So I think that that series is going to go six or seven regardless. I could be totally wrong. I love they match up well. I think it's fun to watch. The Knicks are for real, but the Celtics, again defending champions, I think they may look back and that's where the series went wrong. But I think OKC for as dominant as they were, and I know regular season at this point means nothing, but we got to remember they were roughly 20 games better than anyone else. Like it wasn't even close. Like their one seed status. I bet you if you look back over the last 10, 20, 30 years of the NBA, the difference between the one seed and two seed, very rarely is it that steep. Like OKC was, they pretty much clinched the one seed like a month ago, two months ago.

[Steve Covino]

Make the point too though. We're super pumped about this because there's nothing really like playoff basketball. Like the regular season is just for the most part. And then when you see how intense it gets in the playoffs, you're like, damn, why don't they play this way throughout the entire season? It's next level excitement. And the analogy goes, if your woman is capable of freaky deaky things in the bedroom, but she reserves it for holidays and your birthday and things like that, special occasions, it makes you think, well if you're capable of this, why not all the time?

[Rich Davis]

What do you do? You're naked, hanging from the chandelier and man, the stuff you do on vacation.

[Steve Covino]

Honey, that's how the NBA playoffs makes you feel. It's like if the NBA is capable of this, and I understand they have to tiptoe around and not get hurt throughout regular season.

[Rich Davis]

Oh, is load management, your kids getting in the way it's just such a.

[Steve Covino]

Major contrast from playoffs to regular season. So of course you're pulled in and excited about it. It's the time to tune in, guys. These games are insanely intense.

[Rich Davis]

I've always said that the NBA playoffs are like hotel sex. I've said it my whole life. But it really is, like, amped up to a new level.

[Steve Covino]

That's it, really. NBA playoffs are like hotel sex. You nailed it.

[Rich Davis]

And you wonder, why can't it be like this all the time?

[Steve Covino]

Vacation, like, vacation sex.

[Rich Davis]

Geez, now I'm thinking dirty thoughts and how much I love the NBA playoffs.

[Steve Covino]

Because don't tell me you don't think. Why can't every day be like that?

[Rich Davis]

Oh, look at you. Prime to go.

[Steve Covino]

No, I'm just saying that's how you feel. You're sitting there because don't tell me you're not watching these games. Like, if the games were this exciting all throughout the season, you'd be a hell of a bigger NBA fan. We'd be talking about it every day. And that's how it's been pretty much our whole life. Well, it's nothing like NBA playoffs.

[Rich Davis]

The playoffs, like I said. Why is hotel sex like the NBA playoffs? Because there's preparation that goes into it. What happens. You're going to Hawaii for a week. Your wife's at the spa, you know, waxing. You're gearing up for it. I think the teams have geared up for this moment, and here we are. They're going all out, holding back nothing.

[Steve Covino]

But it's so evident, man. So evident.

[Rich Davis]

They're. They're doing whatever it takes.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah.

[Rich Davis]

Now, I think OKC back to them. 20 games better than everyone else. It was a joke how good they were in the regular season, but seems like an easy argument to make.

[Steve Covino]

So young team they're playing a team with. With playoff swag and experience.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah, you took the words out of my mouth. I think it's. It's easy. It's an easy argument to say best team, but young team. So when you lose Game 1 to the team that won the NBA title two years ago with your possible.

[Steve Covino]

You know what I call that?

[Rich Davis]

Mvp. Jokic. Now, Jokic, SGA are arguably your two best players.

[Steve Covino]

I call that a mole of rom. You know why?

[Rich Davis]

Oh, why?

[Steve Covino]

Because the Nuggets took their heart out. Kalima.

[Steve Covino]

Kalima. They took the heart out of this young team yesterday. That's how I feel about it. Could they turn it around? Be fun to see. But to me, that's a heart Ripper.

It was the mismanagement of the clock. Right, Rich, that has the Thunder winning this bad competition.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah. When you blow a game one and you can think of many series in the past where one team had game one sort of not in the bag, but under, you know, under control, and then they let it slip away, and that could really change the series. I remember there was one NBA Finals where LeBron and the Cavs had Game 1. When LeBron was with the Cavs, they had Game 1 under control, and they let it slip away to Golden State. One of the many years they lost to the warriors in the playoffs, in the finals. But game one on the road, picking up a W against okc, that's got to give Jokic and his, you know, team and of course, confidence in their coaches.

[Steve Covino]

How about that? Look with Westbrook hitting Gordon with the Open 3, and you take that every time, as he said at the end of the game, like when you got that open shot, you take it and he made it coming in clutch. You got to give props to that. Again, that all comes with the composure and experience of being there before. And the Thunder again have their back against the wall saying, home, no Shivay. Home no Shivay, home no Shabbat. And you got Aaron Gordon and Jokic being like, got him. So it was heartbreaking. Heart ripped out yesterday, but, man, we reaped all the benefits because that was fun to watch as again, a fan with no horse in the race. That's just great basketball.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah. So, hey, your thoughts at 87799 on Fox. If you had to say who blew it?

Which goes to show you, with all the criticism, NBA still got it. You know, we spent a lot of the year, like, man, what's going on at the NBA? We've been. We always do that.

But when it comes playoff time, so exciting.

And I know, Rich, you were making that case, you know, on our patreon about hockey as well, but, man, some great, great games yesterday.

Granted, the Celtics missed a shot prior, but Knicks could have got the ball back. But it seemed the Thunder in prime spot and let the Nuggets hang around a little bit more than they should. Made some bad decisions in the final seconds and a comeback comes back to.

And they would take all their anger out on me. I'm just sitting there, like at a broadcast. You don't know how many times I just wanted to step over and karate kick him. But my job was too important to me. I looked at it like a career.

Inter Milan lead 76 on aggregate. They lead this second leg, 4 3. But just two minutes of extra time. So Barcelona time running out for them. Inter Milan, oh, so close to advancing to the Champions League final. Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty will not race in the Preakness Stakes. The Kentucky Derby winner will run in the Belmont coming up in early June, according to trainer Bill Mott. Celtics list Sam Houser is doubtful for Game 2 tomorrow against the Knicks because of a sprained ankle. While Kristaps Porzingis is probable to play. He missed the second half of last night's game because of an illness. Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Deandre Hunter questionable for the Cavs tonight as they host the pacers in game two. Warriors and Timberwolves will start their series at 9:30 Eastern Time in Minneapolis. Thunder GM Sam Presti named the NBA's executive of the Year today. Florida gave men's basketball coach Todd Golden a six year extension worth 40 and a half million dollars. He's now under contract through 2031 after his squad won the national championship. Yeah, there's big game players and I, you know, since I'm the number one coach here in Fox Sports Radio, I talk to my kids about that start. I talk to my kids about being big game players because we started doing, you know, our playoffs for the girls softball. My daughter and I'm like, yeah, girls in baseball, in women's basketball, basketball for men. You know, there's something as a big game player where in games like this, you step it up because you see it.

[Steve Covino]

I love to thrive under the bright lights in those pressure moments. The big shot bobbies of the world. I mean, to me, it just says so much about who you are to be able to step up when it counts. I mean, to perform well when it doesn't matter. Yeah, good for you. But it's a next level accomplishment when it matters.

[Rich Davis]

Now, I wanted to. I wanted to bring up one thing, and then I know we're going to talk about times you covered for someone in a big spot. There's a couple stories. But, Kavino, I think I told you this once before. Is it okay to teach little kids to play angry in today's world? I don't know.

[Steve Covino]

These weenie parents.

Today I decided my son yesterday, we're doing a little batting practice in the yard.

[Steve Covino]

I say, I say yes, but I'd say be careful.

[Rich Davis]

So I think I'll tell you what, I did pass along a little info to some of the other parents coaching. So I realized my son got really mad at my daughter. He picked up a baseball and threw it to me with the speed and intensity. He's never thrown a baseball before.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah, play mad.

[Rich Davis]

I go, do that again. That's why I'm mad. I go throw mad. I go, pick up every ball there and throw it to me mad. Yo, dude, he threw it twice as far as he does when he's playing around in T ball. And I go, yo, show me a mad swing. He takes a bat.

[Steve Covino]

He's like, ah, isn't this the teaching methods of Coach Klein from the waterboy? You think you're an original? Didn't he tell. Didn't he tell the water, Bobby Boucher?

[Rich Davis]

The water stinks.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah, yeah, like you're acting.

Water sucks. Yeah, really sucks.

This guy's trying to sell Coach Klein's playbook. That's happened already.

I thought I did. I guess not. But what I told my son was, and I'm gonna tell the other boys on my team, on my team, kids, T ball.

Does that make your son Bobby Boucher?

Yeah, my. So I. I told him, I go, I. I always. I go, give me a whole. I go, who's angry? He goes, the Hulk. I go, all right, Hulk throw. Incredible Hulk. So tackling fuel you don't realize sometimes that kids, kids are half assing it until you tell them like, come on.

[Steve Covino]

I like that. Yeah. They don't understand the word hustle or intensity. They understand that.
