Hey, what's up guys? It's Levar Arrington here from up on Game. Wanted to talk to you about a serious issue. Hate. You know, something personal that I have experienced and witnessed and watched is how the hate in our country is getting so out of control. It's at an all time high and people are facing way too much hate. A lot of people don't think it's a problem, but I do. I can recall growing up being in high school. One of my high school teammates, good dude too, just happened to wear a shirt that was a derogatory shirt towards my racial group. It depicted Malcolm X moments after he was assassinated and it just made me feel really, really sad. It made me feel upset and so many other emotions. And it's really because we're supposed to be a team, but it's going to take all of us to stop that sort of hate. As I mentioned, we are a team in this country. So let's take a break from hate so our team can regroup and regain our momentum. We need to take a time out against hate. Visit standuptoallhate.org to help and join me in calling for a time out against hate by following at what's up with Hate? Or posting the blue square emoji.

John Mitilkoff
I'm mentally ready for the Brock Purdy slander. And listen, there's no defense. He didn't play great.
Colin Cowherd
What do you want me to do? So but that's not the lead story today. The lead story is Debo Samuel. Look at me. Take care of me. And that's what The San Francisco 49ers did. Spent the early portions of the game trying to make sure Deebo was happy. Just like Brandon iu. Same thing to the Niners. Held out when he came back. Six games, no touchdowns. Stop pandering to wide receivers, 49ers. Build your own D lines. Your best receiver is a seventh rounder who came into the league with no ego and still doesn't have one. Juwan Jennings. You start drafting these wide receivers in the first and second round about couple years in. Get me the ball. Deebot isn't washed, but he's not what he used to be. And clearly, inarguably, Brock Purdy was forcing the ball to Deebo Sweeney to make sure he was okay. Don't be shocked if A.J. brown and Jalen hurts and they waste a first half doing the same damn thing as they face the Steelers. And if Pittsburgh wins and Philadelphia's first quarter and a half is trying to get A.J. brown the ball, that's what happened last night. Brock Purdy went into that game. And in fact, I looked this morning. First 12 offensive plays, 4 of 12 drawn up for Deebo. You should have had 8 of 12 drawn up for George Kittle. He's still elite. Kittle's amazing. And you're having to take care and babysit and coddle. This is not the NBA. It's the NFL. You play to win the game. And it was an ugly night. It was a wet night. Matt Stafford couldn't do anything right in the first half, but the Rams came to play a game and win. No agendas, not trying to placate anybody. I mean, listen, Cooper cup could be upset. He's been unseated by Puka Nakua, clearly. Cooper cup blocks as much as he goes out for a pass. But it was Matt Stafford, Kyron Williams, Sean McVeigh, Cooper Cup, Havenstein, all about winning a game, no agendas. Stafford had a very bad opening half, right? I mean, he almost threw about nine picks. But you know what he did at halftime? They're like, you know what? Let's just run the ball. Let's just run the ball. Did Puka get upset? Did anybody pout? Did anybody go into the locker room? The Rams came out and said, it's all about ball. Let's just run the football. Stafford was off his game. And then eventually, Matt couple nice escapes. Kyron Williams, terrific young player. Just a terrific young player. Blake Corum getting snaps. Puka, Cooper Cup, I mean, it was just all about football. And the Niners, by the way, here's another thing about the Niners, that devondre Campbell, a linebacker, because Dre Greenlaw was healthy, came in and played and was great, and they let him be the starter. And devondre Campbell pouted, refused to go into the game in the third quarter, pouted, took his ball and went home. Can you imagine that? Suddenly now San Francisco's not just old, inexpensive and brittle. They got a culture issue. Get Debo demanding the ball. Yet Brandon Iuk holding out a camp. You got Campbell the linebacker. Does he think he's Fred Warner? Does he think he's Dre Greenlaw? Hufunga Bosa? How many Pro Bowls? I mean, give me a break. So, you know, it was a classic example of this, by the way. A very young Rams team That defense, nobody's making any money. That Rams team, it's like a college team. No egos on the road, sloppy and wet, ugly first half. I think even their kickers are rookie. I mean, everybody's young on the Rams except old Matt Stafford, who was absolutely great when it mattered the most. But. And by the way, the Rams now are finally healthy. They're getting their tight end. Their number one tight end is coming back. So the old line's finally healthy. And by the way, Stafford wasn't sacked. When Stafford isn't sacked, the rams have won 10 straight games. So this Rams team, no turnovers last night, no sacks. But more importantly, no pouting, no taking my ball and going into the locker room. No building a game plan to placate and pander to a wide receiver who's not what he once was. Here's a couple of the Niners. George Kittle, who is still amazing, and Charvarius Ward talking about devondre Campbell quitting mid game. It's more of a one person making a, like Mooney said, a selfish decision. And I'm with Mooney on that. And I. I've never been around anybody.
Doug Gottlieb
That'S ever done that and I hope.
Colin Cowherd
I'm never around anybody that does that again. So for him to do that, listen, that's some so good stuff to me. In my opinion, like, it's probably going to cut someone. So, you know, it is what he is with that. Say this for Devo. Devo didn't go into the locker room now. He had a terrible drop. I could not as a football coach, I do not believe the culture of the NFL. They don't do load management in the NFL. They don't do that. You play hurt, everybody's hurt. By week three, everybody's backup quarterbacks are banged up from practice. Everybody's banged up in the NFL. The Niners have great linebackers. The guy that left is their third best linebacker. But to quit on your team in the middle of it. Bye. Bye. Take care. See you. I mean, Debo, I don't like that stuff either, but he's playing. He's not what he once was. But you can't quit in your team. Can't do it. Can't do it. Meanwhile, yesterday I came on the show and sometimes I see the comments. You folks can be a bit hurtful. I suggested, I thought it was just reasonable. I am America's honesty broker. I said, I think Belichick's going to stay one year at Carolina. Get exhausted by the tedium, which is known as College athletics and go back to the NFL, because I do think next year he'll get a job offer. And this is all rehabbing college tv. So did you see the little addendum in Bill Belichick's contract? The Carolina job? It's just. It's just a little footnote. What's that in fine print? Belichick can leave June 2 this year, back to the pros. Now, he's not going to this year. Nobody hires A football coach June 2. But Bill Belichick can enter the portal, as they say, June 2nd. And that may be a little footnote, little fine print, but I can assure you the legal teams fought over that. Bill demanded. That was in his contract. And Bill got it. Because this job, the top agents in college football. I noted this yesterday. Jimmy Sexton's the powerhouse. He's not sending his best clients for this job because of the administrative chancellor, academic, athletic, you know, fissures in the athletic department. So basically, Belichick can be off Tobacco Road before he's finished with his first cigarette. This addendum is not about this year. He's not going to leave. Now, my prediction, he'll stay a year and Belichick goes to the NFL and we'll get an offer because there's seven openings a year. And Belichick had a quote yesterday. He said, it kind of came to me, this college football thing. No, it did not. It did not come to him. The NFL left him. And so he's a pro football coach, and he. He is going to get an offer next year, in my opinion, and he'll bolt. And all this for Belichick has been about rehab. So Brady leaves and win a Super Bowl. Belichick looks out of touch. Matt Patricia to offensive coordinator. So then you go into rehab. So what does he do? He gets on tv and Bill's smiling. He's fun. He's got fun stories. He is showing the NFL I'm not the old curmudgeon you think I am. Then he's got the young girlfriend. He goes to college, he looks youthful. It's fun. He's again showing the market. Hey, I'm not some old crusty guy. I'm gonna relate to kids and the transfer portal. I am here to stay. Except for the fine print. The fine print says he can get into the portal June 2nd. And you fight over stuff like that. The legal team spent hours on stuff like that. Sometimes a day or two on stuff like that. Here was Belichick yesterday when asked about it. Belichick basically said, I did not come here just to leave. Then why is that in the contract? You think he asked for that and Carolina said, sure, we'll pour 30, 40, 50 million into it and you can leave in an hour. It's not the way it works. I've had a few contract negotiations. So anyway, that. That I thought was something. The details always look at the fine print and there you go. You know, it's interesting. I am going to talk about Brock Purdy now, Jason, I want you to get ready because if I've said before, in our business, you know this to be true. In our business, you and I can not love a player and we're immediately marginalized as haters. And that's not the case. Like you could sometimes you could. Like I've always said, I really, really like Jason Tatum of the Celtics. I don't love him late in games. I think Jalen Brown's the guy I trust to want the ball more. And he's shown it as an MVP of the Eastern Conference and of the Finals in the two biggest series in the Celtics in the last decade. Jalen Brown was viewed by the team, the coaches, as the guy that we give the ball to. So I don't hate Jason Tatum. He's one of the 10 players in the NBA I would start my franchise with. But I would also put Jalen Brown on that team too, because he is a killer late in games. And so with Brock Purdy and Dak. I've never hated Dak. He is Kirk Cousins with a star in his helmet. That's what he's always been. He's Kirk Cousins with a star in his helmet. You can win a division. You can go on winning streaks. The intangibles are amazing. Quality guy, smart guy, leadership qualities. But let's not pretend it's Mahomes. So you can't pay him like Mahomes. And truth is, both Cousins in Minnesota, he got paid more than he was. Probably his real value was and Dak the same. Now the Cowboys are out of money. So that now here's where San Francisco's in a spot. They haven't written the check yet to their Kirk cousins or their dac. So I want to discuss that. Coming up, be sure to catch live editions of the Herd, weekdays at noon Eastern, 9am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1 and the iHeartRadio app.

Levar Arrington
Hey, this is Levar Arrington here from up on Game and listen, I want to talk to you about something very serious for a minute, all right? Something personal to me and right now something that should be personal to you as well. In our country, the hate is at an all time high and it's like we're going backward. The hate is winning. We can't allow that, all right? It's out of control. So many different people, so many different groups are facing too much hate. And it's enough. It's time for it to stop. We need to stop, regroup, change the momentum as a team, because that's what we are. Everyone in this country is on the same team, so let's act like it. And when a team can't get it together, what do you do? You call a timeout. And that's what we need to do. Call a time out against hate. Let's think about what we say and do. And when we see hate, when we see someone doing or saying those things we know are wrong and hateful, we need to call it out. I'mma call it out. You need to do the same thing. Visit standuptoall hate.org to help and join me in calling for a timeout. Against hate by following at what's up with Hate? Or posting the blue square emoji.

This is John Mitlkoff from three and out with John Mittelkoff. Picture this. You're in the garage, your favorite room in the house, and you're tuning up your engine with parts you found on ebay. Every piece is just locking perfectly into place. You step back to admire your work, hands covered in grease. And because you're committed to driving that thing further than the odometer can even handle, you start thinking to yourself, you know what? I could probably use some new brakes, some shocks and struts. This baby deserves a new air filter. So you head right back to ebay. You can find any part you need. It's unreal. From wipers and headlights to cold air intakes, exhaust systems, and even that turbo you've had on your mind. Ebay is that stock garage of your dreams. And you've got ebay guaranteed fit. Because eBay knows DIY fixes can be major. And mods are also intense. So you need to know those parts are guaranteed to fit every time before you dive in. Wrench first. And in the off chance you order a part and it doesn't fit, send it back. Simple as that. You know what you love more than the car itself is driving it. You're serious when it comes to engine maintenance and locked in when you're headed into a build. And that's exactly why you start with ebay. Minor fix or complete overhaul. You want to get your ride back on the road, and you've got ebay guaranteed fit. So ebay created my garage, where all you had to do is add your rides info to get exact parts that fit. When you see that green check, you're a click away from that part, clicking perfectly into place. So now that you know all that, imagine standing at that open garage door looking at the car you love more than anything, knowing that anything is possible, whether it's keeping it on the road forever or turning it into something that's never been on the road before. Because with ebay, your garage just got a whole lot bigger. Get all the parts you need at prices you'll love. Guaranteed to fit every time. Ebay things people love.

Hey, guys, this is Matt Jones. Drew Franklin from the Fade this podcast. We got a great episode coming up. Picks in all the sports. Football, basketball, we do them all. But here's a preview of this week's episode. I've seen people in the gambling community kind of make jokes about fade this and we just goof off and don't even talk about the games. Bring your records and set them on this table right now. All you out there that are spend two hours talking about the games and will in the last seven years and night games they've come in and haven't scored 20 points and you get too detailed. Bring your records right here to fade this. We'll we'll talk about books in in cooking and Kevin Costner and still make more money betting on sports than you will. And this episode was brought to you in partnership with DraftKings. To hear more, listen and subscribe to Fade this on iheartradio or wherever you listen to podcast. This could be a rough three to four minutes. It's time for a little Brock Purdy discussion. J. Mac A Brock talk if you will. During the holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sometimes it gets uncomfortable when you talk Politics and Purdy13 starts this year, barely averaging a touchdown pass a game with one of the best scheme coaches in the league. One of the great tight ends of all time who's still outstanding. The best seventh round receiver in football maybe ever in Juwan Jennings who PFF has as a top 10 receiver in the league with Debo and a top 12 offensive line in review. Great head coach, great tight end, first ballot hall of Famer, two good wide receivers, stable offensive line. 13 games he is looking for the bag. 15 touchdowns, nine picks. Bruh, you gonna pay that 58 million? You're the Cowboys and he's playing his worst football when you need him to play his best football in his last four starts, in three of four of those under 200 yards. But this is really interesting. I know what you're saying. There is no McCaffrey. Let's give you a couple of career Barack Purdy moments and you saw this with Stafford last night when the fit was hitting the sham. Stafford was great. Brock Purdy, trailing by a possession in the fourth quarter in his career, including the playoffs, has a 57 passer rating. That is who he is. Brock Purdy, tied or trailing in the second half in his career, has a passer rating under 70 and the Niners are on the precipice of paying him $60 million. You'll be a more functional Dallas Cowboys who acknowledged yesterday we're still out of money for the foreseeable future. You watched that game in the second half. Weather stunk. Quarterbacks win games like that. That was Stafford saying, hey, let's run the ball. Stafford had four or five throws, one big one over the top. I mean Stafford all night had one huge Throw and a couple important throws but. And once you pay Purdy, you'll have to move off key pieces that were the key components to the infrastructure which is given the illusion that he's elite. I know Wicked is really popular right now. Wizard of Oz behind the curtain vibe going on. Pull back the curtain on Brock Purdy. Look at those career stats again. Oh, he doesn't have Christian McCaffrey. Yeah. His lineup isn't completely stacked with hall of Famers. Matt Stafford last night finally had an offensive line but Cooper cup has regressed. He's got Puka but no really big time tight end and honestly a defense full of kids. And it was Stafford late who made the two or three big throws. Give Stafford the keys to any car he wants. Any car. Big throws, key escapes, no turnovers, avoiding sacks. Here was Brock after I had to be better for this team and didn't play my best tonight. So gotta watch the film and see what happened and where my mindset was at with each play. But I just feel like I had a lot of plays left out there that I could have made for our team. I thought the defense and special teams played so good and you know, that's what's hurting me is just feel like I'm. I failed the team once again. Purdy average. And that has been my Brock talk. J. Mac with the news. No, no, turn on the news. This is the Herdline news. Okay.
John Mitilkoff
All right, have your moment. Enjoy it. Okay, let's start. Let's start with the Eagles. Colin. It's been a drama filled week for Jalen Hurts and A.J.
Colin Cowherd
Brown.
John Mitilkoff
The crux of the drama stem from Philly's poor pass attack. They've thrown the fewest passes in the league this year. But Jalen Hurts says all that matters is winning.
Levar Arrington
It's not any difficulty in winning when that's your. When that's your main thing and that's truly my main thing.
Colin Cowherd
Definitely put an importance on what winning and what that is. But.
Levar Arrington
But also as you grow and as you evolve, the longer you can saturate yourself in something, you know, the more comfortable you can get in it.
Colin Cowherd
Very interesting. I like his leadership skills too. I hope he doesn't spend the first four series trying to make A.J. brown happy.
John Mitilkoff
Oh, I told you that was going to happen. Yes. Remember I said AJ Brown prop.
Colin Cowherd
Remember I said Kittle.
John Mitilkoff
One of them got over the other. He landed on four catches. But I don't know the line has gone up in this. I guess the Eagles are saying all the right things and people Are buying it from four and a half yesterday to five and a half now.
Colin Cowherd
I'll take Pittsburgh. I'll take Pittsburgh. You go ahead just like yesterday. I'll take the less needy team who's just going for the W. You know, football is. Baseball is an individual sport. You go to bat and you're pitching. Even though that seems selfish. That's how it's the infrastructure. Basketball and football is very much a team sport.
John Mitilkoff
Oh yeah, okay.
Colin Cowherd
Now you can have an individual star. That's important. But Patrick Mahomes, without a great left tackle got crushed in a Super Bowl. Right. So every sport has a different feel to it. If you go into a game and you are trying to prove a point instead of trying to win, you become the Niners last night because that's all they cared about in the first three series. Let's get Debo the ball. First 12 attempts, plays four for Deebo.
John Mitilkoff
Isn't the first time that's happened. Remember Malik Neighbors? It's happened with the Giants.
Colin Cowherd
How'd that work for the Giants?
John Mitilkoff
It's not good, but that's the reality. I mean, listen, they have not lost a game this season with AJ Brown on the field.
Colin Cowherd
They're great. For the record, they're not losing a lot of games to anybody when everybody's on the field.
John Mitilkoff
I mean, they got smashed in Tampa without A.J.
Carson Palmer
Brown.
John Mitilkoff
Early again.
Colin Cowherd
What was that, week one or two or three. I mean, come on, it's September. You're not even.
John Mitilkoff
I tell you're feisty today.
Colin Cowherd
So I got a good night job.
John Mitilkoff
Here is reading you don't forget the sports. All right, let's move on to my jets who have already been eliminated from the playoffs. They got a lot of blown fourth quarter leads. They losing one score games seven of the last 13. They just, they're terrible all around. Now this is where it gets interesting. Earlier this week, Garrett Wilson suggested the team might have a losing gene. And Aaron Rodgers seems to agree.
Colin Cowherd
Might be some sort of curse we gotta snap as well. But whatever the case, you know, this team, this organization is gonna figure out how to get over the hump at some point. You know, the culture is built by the players. You know, there's a framework set down by the organization, by the upper ups, by the staff. And in the end, it's the players that make it come to life. And at some point, everybody's going to have to figure out what that special sauce is to turn those games that should be wins into wins. Well, I know what it is. The elite quarterbacks Like Stafford in the last two weeks, Matt Stafford has made the throws to win those games. That's the. As great as McVay is and you know I'm a fanboy of McVay the last two weeks, Stafford has won those games over Josh Allen in Purdy because he's made two big throws late. That throw over the top when he got Puka. That's the ballgame.
John Mitilkoff
Well, also Brock Purdy made a great throw to Debo in third and 10. Debo dropped it in the red zone.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, I'm not dropped. No, I'm not denying that. That was. That was a really, really ugly drop.
John Mitilkoff
That could have been six.
Colin Cowherd
I thought it would have been six if you looked at it. Yeah.
John Mitilkoff
But as for Rogers, like, I don't know, this is. Now he's talking about a curse, bro. I'm so over this guy. You know what they're calling him? Right Toe Rogan. That's what they're calling Aaron Rodgers. Now listen, I'm just, I'm just reporting what the Internet says. People, even jets fans are out on this guy. I'm dead serious. I'm not making this up. I just don't want him on the team.
Colin Cowherd
I actually thought he played this nonsense. In fairness, you know, I've come around on Baker. I support Baker. I don't like him this weekend, but I support Baker. I thought Aaron played his best game of the year against Miami. But once again TUA and Miami figured out a way to win and the jets couldn't make things work in Adams.
John Mitilkoff
Catches the ball, should get the first down, but his momentum took him out. They have to settle.
Colin Cowherd
But Aaron played well this past week.
John Mitilkoff
I'll just say one of the reasons that some of the jets fanboys potential excitement. The left tackle out of Penn State. Yeah, Olu filling in for Tyron. He was great.
Colin Cowherd
Yes.
John Mitilkoff
Played an awesome game. Aaron Rodgers had some time in the pocket. So there's not like, oh, we might.
Colin Cowherd
Have a left tackle game. But I will say this, I've said this. The jets problem is not the personnel that kid from Penn State can play. That is not. They have their left tackle for the future. They don't have a lot of needs on this team. They have to have. They need more production at tight end, period. You got to get. You got to have another weapon. Receivers are good, they could use. I mean, I'll be honest with you. They don't have a lot of needs. What they need is a quarterback in their prime.
John Mitilkoff
That's a small.
Colin Cowherd
I know when I said that two months ago, all the pushback from the fanboys, go, look at this roster. Running back, check. Receivers, Check. Check. Left tackle. Now, check. Defensive front edge, rusher, corners, safety.
John Mitilkoff
We gotta pump the brakes.
Colin Cowherd
I'm just saying. We were on this six weeks ago. The issue isn't everybody else. Get a coach and get a quarterback.
John Mitilkoff
Easier said than done. So I got a Vegas trip coming up. So I went and looked at all my tickets. When you go to Vegas, you get Futures Tickets. And one that I had to tear up was jets over ten and a half wins.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, God.
John Mitilkoff
Why did I really think that was possible?
Colin Cowherd
Kong, you're a fan.
John Mitilkoff
They're one of the worst teams in the league.
Colin Cowherd
No, you're a fan. But they're not. Now, they are not one of the worst rosters in the league. I'll argue that all day long. Now that they have a left tackle, they got components.
John Mitilkoff
It's one game.
Colin Cowherd
Let's. I watched the entire game.
John Mitilkoff
I'm hopeful. Final story is Detroit Lions. They have the best record in the NFL, and they still have not clinched the NFC North. The Vikings are a game back and the packers are three games back. Jared Goff recognizes there's no room for error heading into the final few weeks of the season.
Colin Cowherd
We have to keep winning. You know, we'd love to say 12 1.
Doug Gottlieb
Our division is wrapped up, but it's not even close.
Colin Cowherd
You know, we got two teams on our heels that are pushing us pretty hard, and, you know, we got to keep winning. And I'm sure they're just waiting for us to lose. You know, J. Mac, I did a deep dive on this, and there's a game every week in the NFL where my instincts are one side. And then I talk to my buddy, Chad Millman, and I go. Yesterday afternoon, I didn't go work out. I just stayed home and I just kind of went through a bunch of stuff for blazing five and all that stuff. There's a lot of things that line up for Detroit here. Like, a lot for Detroit. For Detroit. This is a. This is a team that is getting ready for another one of those spicy blowouts.
John Mitilkoff
I think you're talking to some of the wrong people.
Colin Cowherd
Okay.
John Mitilkoff
And I know Chad, but whatever he's feeding you on Detroit, just.
Colin Cowherd
I'm just telling you, if you very.
John Mitilkoff
Careful here with the Lions this weekend, Okay. I have a feeling it'll be in headlines. By the way, make plays in five.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, yes. With vigor and confidence.
John Mitilkoff
Vigor.
Colin Cowherd
Okay. All right, J. Mac with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by the herd. Lie news. Carson Palmer around the corner. So here's some great news for Jerry Jones and bad news for Cowboy fans. Forbes today released the most valuable domestic franchises and the Cowboys are worth $2 billion more than second place Golden State Warriors. Rams are third. Yankees, Knicks. Good news for Jerry. Here's the bad news though. A headline this morning by Stephen Jones, Jerry's son. The Cowboys expect another really, really tight off season. They're out of money. It's going to be really, really tight. The Cowboys are your friend who makes a great living but strangely lives. Check to check. He's got a Range Rover, but he's a renter. What? How does that work? There's no limitations on how great the Cowboys could be. No state income tax, beautiful facilities, nice place to live for a great young athlete. Center of the country, mostly decent winter spring weather, business friendly state, huge brand television money rolling in, but they can't budget themselves correctly. Dallas spent all their money on a Rolex and yet they're renting furniture. So it's. And if you think I'm off my rocker here, I just want you to think about this for a second. The Philadelphia Eagles have two wide receivers, two making over 25 million. The Philadelphia Eagles have a quarterback making over 50 million. The Philadelphia Eagles have three offensive linemen making over 20 million. And they could still pay Saquon Barkley a ton. Think about that. And you guys couldn't get Derek Henry for 8 million at the trade deadline. And that's just what the Eagles are paying their offense. Howie Roseman, the Eagles general manager is running laps around the Dallas Cowboys. Since the Cowboys played in their last, just the conference championship. Forget the Super Bowls. Since the Cowboys played in their last conference championship, Eagles have been in three Super Bowls and many believe, and I may be one of them, this year will be their fourth. So I've said this about the Celtics and the Lakers. If you look at the Celtics and the Lakers and the Eagles and the Cowboys, it is not close. In the ownership and executive level, it is not close. I mean, look at Philadelphia, what they're paying their offense. Philadelphia's got young stars, stars in their prime, aging stars. Dallas has two great players. So this Mike McCarthy decision that we're going back and forth on, I got news for you. Howie Roseman and the brilliant owner of the Eagles, Jeffrey Lurie, would have this puppy all figured out. It wouldn't be a week to week proposition. It's, it's. I think sometimes you forget the gap between the Ravens and the Bengals in the same division. The gap between the ownership and the executive. It's not about Lamar and Joe Burrow. They're both amazing. They're all timers, both of them. The gap between the commitment and the foresight and the vision of the Ravens compared to the Bengals, it's. It's a mile. You think because the Lakers and you think because the Cowboys have these big brands, they have their act together. I'm telling you, they got a Range Rover in the driveway. Driveway. And they got rented furniture. They don't. I mean, this idea that they're going to be tight again. I mean, the Denver Broncos are paying a fortune for Russell Wilson, and right now they're a playoff team. The Rams were paying for Matt Stafford and Jared Goff, and they got to a Super bowl and won, and they were paying two quarterbacks a fortune. It's not we always blame the players. Look upstairs to the guy in the dark glasses. That that's and the gm. That's where these games are often decided. Carson Palmer around the corner Blazing five today J. Mac, I'm not kidding you. I had to put it off to the side. I didn't want it to burn the desk. That's how hot it is.
John Mitilkoff
You're coming in hot today. What's going Was that a late night last night?
Colin Cowherd
I may put shades on to block the sun from the blazing five. The thing's on fire over here on the desk.

Hey, this is Levar Arrington here from up on Game. And listen, I want to talk to you about something very serious for a minute, all right? Something personal to me. And right now, something that should be personal to you as well. Imma call it out. You need to do the same thing. Visit standuptoallhate.org to help and join me and calling for a timeout against hate by following at what's up with hate? Or posting the blue square emoji.

This is John Mittelkoff from three and out with John Mittelkoff. From wipers and headlights to cold air intakes, exhaust systems and even that turbo you've had on your mind. Ebay is that stock garage of your dreams and you've got ebay guaranteed fit. Because eBay knows DIY fixes can be major and mods are also intense. So you need to know those parts are guaranteed to fit every time before you dive in. Wrench first and in the off chance you order a part and it doesn't fit, send it back. Simple as that. You know what you love more than the car itself is driving it. You're serious when it comes to engine maintenance and locked in when you're headed into a build. And that's exactly why you start with ebay. Minor fix or complete overhaul. You want to get your ride back on the road and you've got ebay guaranteed fit. So ebay created my garage where all you had to do is add your rides info to get exact parts that fit. When you see that green check, you're a click away from that part, clicking perfectly into place. So now that you know all that, imagine standing at that open garage door looking at the car you love more than anything, knowing that anything is possible. Whether it's keeping it on the road forever or turning it into something that's never been on the road before. Because with ebay your garage just got a whole lot bigger. Get all the parts you need at prices you'll love. Guaranteed to fit every time. Ebay things people love you can count.

Come back blazing five Top of the hour and I'm going to give my love for Caleb Williams is the Bears have been a hazmat spill for six months and that kid keeps stepping to the microphone and saying all the right stuff. You know he's gone seven games with no pick. That's an NFL record for a rookie. I know everybody wants to bury these kids when they lose games. I'm just telling you our next guest knows what it's all about. Where you land is about 70% of the game. 15 years in the NFL. Best quarterback USC's ever had by some stretch. Carson Palmer now joining us live. First of all, he's just named head coach at Santa Margarita High, which is big time. He coached the freshman last year with his son who's a quarterback, and now he's going to take over the program. You know, you were up there in Sun Valley and you're living a great life and then all of a sudden it's like you got the little coaching bug. So I want to congratulate you. First of all, Dr. Drew Bledsoe, my friend, coaches as well and loves it. So congrats to you.
Carson Palmer
Thanks, Colin. Yeah, I'm right back in it. This is the Mecca of football in this country, the Trinity League. It's an incredible opportunity for me. It's where it all started for me. It's where my football journey began, my faith journey began. So it's a really special opportunity to come back home, back to my alma mater and be a part of this program again.
Colin Cowherd
Good for you. You're too darn young. You got to be back in the action. You look like you're 32 years. So I've said this before in the history of football. I can make an argument that the two quarterbacks who I think are all time talents, but they didn't get the great landing out of college, are you and Joe Burrow. And as I've watched Burrow, my heart goes out for him. They gave away Joe Mixon for a seventh rounder. They won't pay Jamar Chase, who's just incredible. And this is not to take a shot at Cincinnati, but you got into a situation there where you said, guys, enough is enough and you're a loyal guy. Do you see when you watch Burrow, do you see a little bit of that where you're like, boy, that kid is. Your heart goes out a little bit for him?
Carson Palmer
Well, it's not what I see, you know, from a skill standpoint or production on the field because production on the field is second to none. I just see a frustration on his face and that's what concerns me. You know, it looks to be building, it looks to be waning and weighing on him. So that I think the thing that jumps out at me is, is you can see the frustration on his face. It's tough to put up the numbers he's put up to score the points they've put up and be in the situation they're in, which is on the outside looking in Their playoff shot this year, unfortunately looks to be slim to none. And you got to start Thinking about next year, but I'm starting to see some frustration grow on Joe's face, and that's concerning.
Colin Cowherd
Yep. We talked about this about a month ago. He was getting feisty even before games, and you can feel it. And I feel bad for him. He looks at Lamar and he can look at Josh Allen and Stafford, and all these guys have a better supporting cast. So of all the rookie quarterbacks, I really like Bo Nicks, and I think a lot of it's Peyton, and a lot of it's fit. His numbers are good, but you could just see him growing. You look at all these young quarterbacks, is there one that you've that kind of snaps or pops out for you?
Carson Palmer
Well, I'm biased because he went to usc, but Caleb Williams in Chicago, it's been. You just talked about it a minute ago. It's been a tough year. There's a lot of chaos in the organization. There's a lot of questions about the staff, but he hasn't thrown a pick in seven games. That is. That is an amazing stat. Think about that. When you're in that moment and you're him and you're fighting for every yard and trying to get a win, you're trying to get the ball down the field. I mean, it is really easy to make a mistake. It is really easy to force one into coverage. It's really easy to put yourself and your team in a vulnerable situation. And I think that's the most impressive thing about him right now, is he has not done that. He's trying everything he can do. He's doing stuff he was doing at sc, moving around the pocket. You know, he's not getting a ton of separation on the outside. So he's creating a separation by holding on the ball for three, four, five seconds, making guys miss and giving his receivers downfield a chance to shake loose. And in all that, he's got guys flying around and bodies coming at him faster than they ever had before in his life, and he still hasn't thrown one to the other team. That's a truly amazing stat.
Colin Cowherd
You know, it's. I watched the Niners last night, and I'm like, listen, you know this. You know this, like Arizona, like, windows close really fast. This. We have a regulated level of violence. You can have two or three great players. Your left tackle goes down or ages, and all of a sudden the quarterback's like, okay, our window's closed. I look at the 49ers and I said this coming into the season, I said, guys, they're getting Older, they're expensive and they're getting a little brittle. I kind of felt like last night is kind of of all the season it came down to that is just that now they've got some culture stuff. Did you ever have a team where you could kind of sense it, Carson, like, oh, man, it's closing. It's getting close. It's closing.
Carson Palmer
Yeah. Oh, absolutely. It happens every three, four, five years. Sometimes, like in Kansas City, when that window is being talked about closing, you find a new way to reinvent yourself and defense in Kansas City. And they're not explosive and throwing the ball over people's heads, but they find a way to win games at the end of the game. So, yes, that can absolutely happen. I think the biggest factor in that window is the fact that they got a paid Rock Purdy here pretty soon and that's going to be a substantial chunk of their salary cap. So you're going to lose a Debo, you're going to lose a Kittles, you're going to lose maybe a Bosa, who knows? Once they have to pay him, everything changes. And I think I talked about it last time I came on your show. You know, Brock, Brock was not a first round pick. There were some flaws in his game, in his physical makeup. And I think you put Brock in an environment where the ball is wet, where the wind picks up, where the temperature drops and that ball gets a little slick, it doesn't quite have that tackiness on it. You see some issues and some flaws pop up. And you saw them last night. They're still going to have to pay him and they're still going to have to give them a big chunk of that salary cap. And that's where you start to see that window close faster.
Colin Cowherd
Finally. I always thought, Bill Belichick's a pro coach. And though there are similarities now more than ever between college and pro, it's actually crazy that college players now have no salary cap and almost no free agent window. It's the wild, wild west. The NFL's got all the borders and the fences. And I look at Belichick and I think, oh, Bill, Bill loves structure. There's no structure in college football. I don't think it can last that long. I think he could win games. Smart guy. Do you think he could go to college and just. It would drive him nuts after about a year.
Carson Palmer
I think it's going to be really fun to watch. You know, the attention to detail and the fact that you have limits on how many hours you get with your team. You only get, you know, five, six, seven hours with your team during the season. In the NFL, guys can come in at five, they can come in at six, and they can stay till nine, 10, 11 o'clock at night. So I think that's going to be a big factor in his success is he doesn't have the time to work with these guys. But like you said, this is the new NFL. There's no cap, you know, there's no number of draft picks you get to add to your team. You can go and take whoever you want from wherever you want if the school's pockets are deep enough. And obviously North Carolina is showing that they've got deep pockets, they're serious about the football program. It's been a basketball school for as long as anybody can remember. But they, you know, they're searching and Bill is a great place to start. The thing with Bill is just figuring out what kind of tolerance, what kind of patience he has with 18, 19, 20 year olds, as opposed to 20 to 35 year olds.
Colin Cowherd
Carson Palmer, varsity head coach, Santa Margarita High School name there yesterday as alma mater. His son is going to be a sophomore. Right, Your son. Well, your, well, your son's name is what? And he's a sophomore quarterback.
Carson Palmer
Fletch. Yeah, I've got a sophomore quarterback and like I said, I'm right back where it all began in the Trinity League, coaching at Santa Margarita. Really, really excited about this opportunity and being able to have an impact on these young men's lives.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, good for you. That's great. Giving back and congrats to your son. I'm going to actually, I got to come down and see a practice. I really want to watch this stuff. I think it's great.
Doug Gottlieb
Anytime.
Colin Cowherd
Thank you so much, Carson. Great. All right. Older brother, of course, Jordan, who comes on our show. So that's kind of a legendary Southern California high school. There's a handful of Bosco's and Santa Margaritas and modern day and you've got some Sarah's here in Mission Valley, I think it's called Mission Valley, where Sanchez went. So there's a lot of these legendary schools and that's cool. Blazing 5. Let me throw this out to you now, J. Mac. I'm not really a boycott guy, so when people like, like say I'm boycotting, I'm not. It's like it's an American option. But you know, when people years ago got a little into their feels with the NFL, I'll never watch again. Oh, ratings have come out. NFL rating season to date, 18 million people per game. The best in nine and a half years. People are watching. Isn't that funny? You know what I think is interesting is that the media kind of resents power too often. And by the way, I think it's good for comedians and the media to take their shots at power. I get that. But you can't become paralyzed by it. Roger Goodell has never gotten the respect this guy has navigated Covid streaming cte. I mean, it's still a sport that can be dangerous. And every time I turn on a football game, such good kids. The NFL ask you to play sometimes a little dinged up, but they will reward you financially handsomely. And it's harder to run Netflix than a smaller streaming service. It's harder to run the NFL than the mls. And they have navigated through a lot of storms and they have come out. As the NBA ratings go through the floor over the last four years, NFL is up again. What's poppin Justin Jefferson here?

The Herd with Colin Cowherd – Episode: Hour 1 - The 49ers Have Lost Their Way
Release Date: December 13, 2024
Host: Colin Cowherd
Produced by: iHeartPodcasts and The Volume
Overview
In this compelling first hour of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, host Colin Cowherd delves deep into the troubling trajectory of the San Francisco 49ers. Through incisive analysis and candid commentary, Cowherd dissects the team's recent performances, management decisions, and cultural issues that have seemingly led the once-promising franchise astray. This episode not only scrutinizes the 49ers but also draws broader parallels to NFL team dynamics and leadership strategies.
Key Discussions
Overreliance on Deebo Sweeney
Colin Cowherd criticizes the 49ers' excessive focus on wide receiver Deebo Sweeney, arguing that it has hampered the team's overall offensive strategy. He points out that "the Niners have spent the early portions of the game trying to make sure Deebo was happy," leading to a predictable and ineffective offense. This overemphasis limits the quarterback Brock Purdy's options and sidelines other talented players like tight end George Kittle and rookie receiver Juwan Jennings.
"Brock Purdy was forcing the ball to Deebo Sweeney to make sure he was okay. Don't be shocked if A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts waste a first half doing the same damn thing as they face the Steelers." – Colin Cowherd [04:23]
Cultural and Leadership Issues
The episode highlights significant cultural problems within the 49ers organization, exemplified by linebacker Devondre Campbell's refusal to enter a game mid-quarterback. Cowherd emphasizes that such actions are unbecoming in the NFL, where "you play to win the game."
"Devondre Campbell pouted, refused to go into the game in the third quarter, pouted, took his ball and went home. Can you imagine that?" – Colin Cowherd [08:59]
Comparison with the Los Angeles Rams
Contrasting the 49ers with the Rams, Cowherd commends the Rams for their disciplined and team-oriented approach. He highlights Matt Stafford's leadership and the Rams' ability to focus solely on winning without pandering to individual players.
"The Rams came out and said, it's all about the ball. Let's just run the football. Stafford was off his game, but eventually, he made a couple nice escapes." – Colin Cowherd [08:59]
Management and Drafting Strategies
Colin criticizes the 49ers' drafting strategy, particularly their investment in wide receivers early in the drafts while neglecting to build a robust defensive line. He suggests that the team needs to "build their own D-lines" and focus on fostering a more balanced and resilient roster.
"Stop pandering to wide receivers, 49ers. Build your own D lines. Your best receiver is a seventh-rounder who came into the league with no ego and still doesn't have one." – Colin Cowherd [04:35]
Future Prospects and Contract Concerns
The discussion extends to Brock Purdy's future with the team, highlighting concerns over his performance and the financial implications of his potential contract. Cowherd warns that paying Purdy a substantial salary could force the 49ers to move key players, disrupting the team's chemistry and performance.
"Once you pay Purdy, you'll have to move off key pieces that were the key components to the infrastructure, which is given the illusion that he's elite." – Colin Cowherd [47:17]
Broader NFL Culture and Coaching
The episode touches on broader NFL cultural issues, including the challenges of load management and player burnout. Colin also speculates on Bill Belichick's potential move to college coaching, pondering how a pro coach might navigate the less structured environment of collegiate sports.
"I always thought, Bill Belichick's a pro coach. And though there are similarities now more than ever between college and pro, it's actually crazy that college players now have no salary cap and almost no free agent window." – Colin Cowherd [50:18]
Notable Insights
Team vs. Individual Focus: Colin underscores the importance of a team-centric approach over catering to individual star players. The 49ers' fixation on Deebo Sweeney is portrayed as a misstep that undermines the team's cohesion and effectiveness.
Leadership Accountability: The episode emphasizes the critical role of leadership in maintaining team culture. Instances like Devondre Campbell's refusal to play highlight the need for strong leadership to uphold team standards and accountability.
Financial Management: Colin brings attention to the financial strategies of NFL teams, using the 49ers as an example of how poor budget management can stifle a team's potential despite having high-value players.
Comparative Success: By comparing the 49ers with the Rams, Colin illustrates how disciplined, team-focused management leads to sustained success, whereas the opposite focus can result in stagnation.
Conclusions
Colin Cowherd concludes that the San Francisco 49ers are at a crossroads, grappling with internal cultural issues and flawed strategic decisions that have derailed their performance. He suggests that without a shift towards a more balanced team-oriented approach and better financial management, the 49ers risk further decline. The episode serves as a cautionary tale for NFL franchises on the importance of leadership, strategic drafting, and maintaining team cohesion to achieve long-term success.
