You know, every generation thinks they're the young cool generation until they hit like 30 or so, and then it's like the younger kids make fun of you. Like, you know how it's funny to see millennials now get picked on by Gen Z. I love it. Because forever millennials are the annoying like.

Know it alls gen alphas now making fun of them.

So apparently there's something called the millennial pause and younger people get such a kick out of it and they're just making fun of all millennials. Apparently when millennials post anything on social media, they pause for a second. Like the almost Kavino. I'll record you and go, hey, it's Kavino. Like they're saying millennials don't trim the beginning of their videos. And that's like the big joke among probably like your daughter's generation.

It's like us using an ellipses and getting crap for it on social media.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah. Dot, dot dots make you old and apparently smiley face emojis make you old now and low socks make you old.

[Steve Covino]

As far as observations over the weekend, we're going to have a lot more football to talk, so I'm going to throw some UFC 311 out there. More and more of these names are getting impossible. Just look at that card and try to try to pronounce any of the names that fought over the weekend.

[Rich Davis]

We should do a UFC spelling bee.

[Steve Covino]

But UFC, good luck with death. UFC 311 came original. Get it?

[Rich Davis]

Yeah.

And I was down enough to watch it. Get it, get it. 311. UFC 3 11.

But Mahachev was victorious over my Kano. Some good fights over the weekend, but in other fight observations and inauguration observations, I don't know if you saw, Jon Jones was invited. He was there. But you know who was rolling together today? The Paul brothers and Conor McGregor. Now, they looked like they were buddy chummy at the inauguration, but I think they're probably working out a deal.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah, there was the talk of Jake versus Connor.

[Steve Covino]

No, Logan versus Logan versus Connor. Yeah. Okay. So I would say, hey, if they're palling around like that, I think they're probably also talking business and negotiating. For the casual fight fans who like a spectacle, but for the actual fight fans, I hope you enjoyed your 311 over the weekend. Now, another observation I made was just how good Jaden Daniels is. Now, we know that already, but here's what you're hearing, and it's not what I was hearing prior to maybe this week, last week, there's not only he may have had the greatest rookie season ever, but I think it's easy to say that he's having the greatest rookie quarterback season Ever, right?

[Rich Davis]

Or both.

[Steve Covino]

What are your thoughts on it? I mean, have you seen a guy as poisonous, electric as he's been playing in his rookie season last year, C.J.

[Rich Davis]

Stroud got that attention and then, you know, not that it died down.

[Steve Covino]

I don't know.

[Rich Davis]

He didn't make it as far.

[Steve Covino]

I find him to be so much more. Well, his game. His game, they play different games, right? They're both great, but his game is so visually exciting and easy to understand. This dude is just great and so fun to watch. And I've heard people on this channel, people on tv, my buddy's greatest rookie to ever do it. And I'm like, wow, that's. That's pretty. Those are some pretty big words when you think about all the greats that have stepped in, especially at quarterback now. But it makes me say, hmm. And it makes me want to watch the guy.

[Rich Davis]

No rookie quarterback has ever won a Super Bowl. Now you might say, wait, Ben Roethlisberger? No.

[Danny G]

Championship game. Yeah.

[Rich Davis]

Year two. So when you think about second year quarterbacks that got to the big game, Warner, Brady, Roethlisberger, Wilson, Jaden Daniels is one game away. And I'm not saying the Eagles didn't look good because it looks like Saquon Barkley at any given moment could just bust open a 50 plus yard run.

[Steve Covino]

But you know what made me say about him made me happy for him to found a place where he gets to flourish. You saw how excited he was. He even said that again, to be there, to get this opportunity meant the world to him. You saw his excitement in the end zone. But I saw Odell Beckham Jr. Post about him over the weekend too. Did you happen to see, I saw.

[Rich Davis]

That saying how he was so happy for him.

[Steve Covino]

Saying like he was one of the nicest, coolest dudes to ever strap him up. So when you have your peers and your colleagues, other great players speaking that highly of you, I think that says a lot about who you are. We know how good he is. Right. We see that. But it seems like he's also really dedicated and good dude all around, which makes you root for him even more. Just as a player, you can hate the Eagles all you want.

[Danny G]

Do you remember when we were filling in for the Dan Patrick show, what was the last holiday we filled in for him? Was it Christmas?

[Rich Davis]

Probably right around the holidays afterwards, around there?

[Danny G]

Yeah. And you guys said, pick one quarterback if your life was on the line to lead you down the field for a winning touchdown.

[Steve Covino]

I remember that.

[Danny G]

Remember who I chose? No, but who Was it you guys took the big names off.

[Steve Covino]

I don't remember who I chose.

[Danny G]

In my defense, I surprised you a little because I said even though he's a rookie, Jaden Daniels looks so poised. And that's the one thing that Noticeably poised. Yes. The way he just calmly.

[Steve Covino]

And he's having fun out there.

[Danny G]

These are high pressure, high pressure moments. He just looks like he's playing football in the backyard. That really stands out.

[Steve Covino]

People say that about other players, but I could really see that with this dude. Like I said, his game is easy to understand and it's exciting to watch. You don't have to know a lot about football to watch him and appreciate. Wow, this dude. That dude. Yeah, that guy. He's really good. Like, you could see that. So, Danny G, rewind to when we filled in. You made a good call.

[Danny G]

I don't remember who.

[Steve Covino]

I think I understand.

[Rich Davis]

I. You said Daniels, I said Josh Allen and cavino said Tommy DeVito. You know, pretty sure that was. I was prisoner of the moment. I think you're like Tommy DeVito.

[Steve Covino]

I was big dreaming. Yeah.

[Rich Davis]

All right, let's say what's up to Jimmy in Texas. Jimmy, what was your observation? Really fun divisional weekend in the NFL. What's up, Jimmy?

[Brian]

Yo, what's up, Armando? Hey, I can't wait for you guys to get a three hour time squad. Y'all need that extra hour for sure.

[Steve Covino]

Thank you, man.

I just got to say, I need to preface it. I'm a Texans fan. I'm not hating on the Chiefs at all, dude. I think that they are a great team. I'm kind of rooting for history outside of Daniels for sure. But my thing that made me say because I don't. The Texans would not have won that game. They shot themselves in the foot too many times. But those calls were terrible. What made me say hmm is why. How is it that we can have replay of this call down and stop a play and get somebody out that the dank has a concussion, reverse the call on if it's an actual catch or not, things like that. But you can't have one for. You can't have them help out to see if somebody was actually hit from the quarterback position.

[Rich Davis]

I mean, it's going to change the NFL.

[Steve Covino]

I, you know, they.

[Rich Davis]

They've talked about that in all the games, saying how there's got to be a way to be able to change some of these calls. And listen, you don't want to get tied up. Remember when they did the pass interference thing and it was so Subjective. Like with his arm, touch him. It didn't. That was. I agree. We should not be having pass interference calls reviewed like we did. It was a failed experiment. But if some guy is accused of roughing the passer late, hit something, that is a 15 yard penalty. And a lot of times these things coincidentally happen on like a third and long. And it goes from a turnover on downs or a punt to yeah, now it's. The drive continues.

[Danny G]

And you can see how it could get called incorrectly in real time because like when the two Texans helmets hit, they heard, they heard helmets hitting. They see Mahomes down so the flag goes. But you're right, a quick replay on that, you would see that it wasn't a headshot on my homes.

[Steve Covino]

If anything, it makes the Chiefs more hateable. And I feel it takes away from their game a little bit because they're a great team without that. They don't need that. You know what I mean? They're already hard to beat and now you're just giving extra advantage to the Chiefs. I think that's just a bad look all around.

[Rich Davis]

I, I think you saw, I think what that game was Buck and Aikman, right? And I think every announcer on all four broadcasts, all, you know, all the A teams were out. I think every game there was the sentiment of, yeah, we need to clean this up and fix the replay process when it comes to these calls. Because much like baseball, maybe it's a separate category. Like, it's not a. It's not a. It's not a challenge for a first down or a catch. Maybe there's another category, like not the red flag, like, like a blue flag, something where you could challenge like that wasn't a penalty or, you know, you ever see a play reviewed and they can't call the face mask because it wasn't originally called. There has to be the ability to.

[Steve Covino]

Didn't that happen over the weekend with the shoulder pad?

[Rich Davis]

There has to be an ability to go back and see a play and be like, well, we got it wrong. If we're correcting everything else, why can't we correct this? And I was talking to the guys I was watching the game with. I was hanging with some of my daughter's friends, dads, and we're saying it's so subjective, right? Because if Mahomes is tiptoeing along the sideline trying to get one more yard, if a guy hits him as he's about to step out versus a guy tackling Lamar Jackson and tackling him with a play falls out of bounds, like it's so tricky for these refs and especially hearing the crowd go nuts to not grab that flag. And I think it has to be reviewable. Cavino, I agree.

[Steve Covino]

Things that made you go home over the weekend. Any observation you may have made. We'll take one more phone call now.

Hey, what's going on, guys? I don't have any hmms, but I do want to say a couple of things. Burrow played in the super bowl when he was rookie, lost to the Rams. That was his rookie year, right?

[Rich Davis]

Was. I don't think it was.

It was not.

It was his second year. Yeah.

[Steve Covino]

I mean, impressive, but yeah.

[Brian]

Marino losses the super bowl in his second year as well. Look, I'm also draw a comparison. You guys were talking about Lamar Jackson earlier. I draw a comparison of his career so far. That of Dan Fouts, who was a quarterback for the Chargers, played in, you know, two AFC championships, lost, lost several other playoff games. And, you know, I know Lamar still has. He's got a few more years, maybe five, six, seven years left. Good years left. So far, his, his career is drawing similarities to that of Dan Fouts.

[Rich Davis]

Yeah, I mean, listen, there's, there's greats that never win in all sports.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah, I hope that's not in his future. I like Lamar Jackson.

[Rich Davis]

All right, let me, let me ask you this. Go around the room. You're allowed to pick three quarterbacks that have never won to win a Super Bowl. Who do you think deserves it in your mind, of all the 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL, you can't pick someone that won already, obviously. Would you say, you know, in fast forward 20 years, when we're, you know, you know, about to start collecting Social.

[Steve Covino]

Security, like, it would feel wrong if they didn't.

[Rich Davis]

It would feel wrong if they didn't if you had to pick three.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah, it's easy. Easy answer.

[Rich Davis]

I mean, but I think once you say easy, I'm going to name others.

[Steve Covino]

And you say, ooh, Lamar Jackson. We already established that it would feel wrong if he went down the merino path. Like, man, I can't believe that greatness. And he never won a Super Bowl. Lamar Jackson. You can't say Lamar Jackson without Josh Allen.

[Rich Davis]

Okay.

[Steve Covino]

And it's great.

[Rich Davis]

I mean, it could ball any other dude.

[Steve Covino]

Balling back and forth and playing a completely different game than Jackson. Just so fun to watch. And Joe Burrow, he just seems too good to not win one.

[Rich Davis]

These are three AFC quarterbacks That every year they have to not only compete with each other, but Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, you know, he's not in great favor right now. He had a terrible postseason game. But now you're saying Justin Herbert's not going to win one.

[Steve Covino]

No.

[Rich Davis]

Right.

[Steve Covino]

I mean, you heard. You heard who. Kevin Washington called him Justin Sherbert. Oh, yeah, yeah.

[Rich Davis]

And then Rob Parker said, I love Sherbert.

[Steve Covino]

I mean, people are debating, you know, that he sucks. I'm not going that. That route. No, I don't put him in that category.

[Danny G]

Cove, do you think your boy Baker Mayfield will ever get to the big game?

[Steve Covino]

I don't. I don't think so. Man, I would love to see fun.

[Rich Davis]

You just named these three quarterbacks. So you're leaving off Jaden Daniels, huh?

[Steve Covino]

I mean, you said right now, who's more deserving? He's. This is rookie season. It's crazy that we're even talking about.

[Danny G]

Is this deserving or exciting, Rich, because we got two youngsters in. CJ Stroud and Jaden Daniels.

[Rich Davis]

I was gonna say, the way I.

[Steve Covino]

Interpreted what you said, when the. When the record books are written, it would be a shame to see these dudes not win one.

[Rich Davis]

Okay, that's. That is how I angled the question. But you could also take it and say, in 20 years from now, when we're, you know, like I said, older men, who would you be like? Oh, man, they never won one. Because again, you could add C.J. stroud, Jaden Daniels, Caleb Williams. I mean, he didn't have the greatest rookie campaign, but with a new head coach and Ben Johnson and an offensive guy like that, who's to say Caleb Williams? As in.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah, but we haven't seen this in the NFL yet. So I would say I'm pretty. I'm pretty confident those three names, as far as being high caliber, proven dudes in the NFL, I mean.

[Rich Davis]

All right, so you think Jared Goff wins one?

[Steve Covino]

I don't.

[Rich Davis]

You think Detroit's windows done?

[Steve Covino]

No, I'm not rooting against golf, but those are my three. Who are you three?

[Rich Davis]

I think Burrow is the number one guy for me because I. Listen, they missed the postseason this year, but I feel like Joe Burrow, somehow. There's just something about him where I feel like he has that. That winning DNA or something about him. I could see Lamar and Lamar or Josh Allen. My bet is that one of them doesn't win. And that would be really sort of a bummer.

[Steve Covino]

Right? And that's why I thought it was really big of Lamar Jackson to say he. He's rooting for Josh Allen to win it all. He's like, go out there and win it. Win it all, man. Do something. I'm rooting for.

[Rich Davis]

So based on what you're saying, Kavino.

[Steve Covino]

Because you know what? They're always going to be compared together. And if Josh Allen has one and Lamar Jackson doesn't, Josh Allen gets the best of them in that conversation.

[Rich Davis]

So let me get this straight then. Brock Purdy, Jalen hurts, Dak Prescott. These are all guys in your mind that will never win.

[Steve Covino]

I mean, if I have to choose three. Yeah, they're not. They're not replacing anybody.

Ideal of the memes that are going around today that it took. It took Jaden Daniels one year and he made it further in the playoffs. And Dak Prescott has.

Everything. That's what they do on the first day. Well, it's just that usually it's not done at a rally. Usually it's done in the Oval Office. Right. Right now, the game tonight. There's so many storylines, but Ryan Clark said that his son, Jordan Clark is, you know, hyped up for the game, but he's just as hyped. He's saying that he's more excited for his own kid than he was winning a Super bowl trophy. Now take a listen to Ryan Clark talking about his son, Jordan Clark, who's playing for Notre Dame.

First and foremost, your husband, your dad. What is Monday night going to be like? Oh, as a father.

Well, one, I think it'll be from.

A football standpoint, the most important night in my family's lives.

Wow.

And he says it doubles anything you do as a parent. Like when your kid accomplishes something, it doubles anything that you do as a parent. Now, look, if you never made it to the bigs, of course you're going to be happy. Maybe more happy, I don't know. But I think it's easy. Easier for a guy to say who played in the NFL, who won a Super Bowl. You're going to be so pumped for your kid. I think you're pumped for your kid no matter what. But truthfully, double. I don't know.

[Rich Davis]

To be honest, if you.

[Steve Covino]

I love seeing my kids succeed, but I wonder what the truth is there.

[Rich Davis]

What have people said about you, Kavino, Kavina, you self centered son of a.

[Steve Covino]

Of course you couldn't be prouder. It's your kid.

[Rich Davis]

I get that. Until I had kids. And I don't want to be that guy, like, until you have kids. But until I had kids, I never thought I would care more about someone else than myself. I'll be honest with you.

[Steve Covino]

Is it obvious? Is it double like what he's saying, because it is very cool.

[Rich Davis]

Dude, if you told me right now we'd end up with the most popular TV sports radio show there ever was, but my son succeeded beyond me, I would choose my son. It's like you're supposed to want your kids to be you, but improved.

[Steve Covino]

No.

[Rich Davis]

You know what it is?

I don't disagree with you at all. Of course it seems obvious, right? But when you hear Ryan Clark say that without skipping a beat, it really does bring it home and remind you that, yeah, like, when you care about something more than yourself, it's sort of amazing. Here's a guy that succeeded in the NFL, still doing well.

[Rich Davis]

But does it have to be something you're interested in? Because I'll ask you this. Did it mean more when you were like, Steve Covino, Allstate baseball high school player, or that your daughter's cheer squad won this weekend?

[Steve Covino]

See, that's interesting. Yeah, it meant more for me, I think, you know, but I was proud of my daughter.

[Rich Davis]

Right.

[Steve Covino]

You know, this weekend. So I understand the feeling. But he's saying, think about it, though. Put it in perspective where your heart.

[Rich Davis]

Really is, watching his kid do what he did.

[Steve Covino]

Here's a guy that won the super bowl, but he's saying that his son winning tonight would mean double that. And I guess we could all understand that if you're a parent. But to hear that spoken, you're like, yeah, that. That is kind of true. And that's kind of wild because you think of the super bowl championship as like the beacon end all, you know, everything.

[Rich Davis]

Legacy, family, the man, the Mannings, the Griffeys, the. You know, do you wonder if those fathers would say, you think Archie Manning said it meant more to see my sons win Super Bowls than if I ever won?

[Steve Covino]

Yeah. It's just an interesting question. And he put it nicely again, double than anything he's ever done. And he couldn't be prouder of his son. So Jordan Clark representing Notre Dame tonight, making the Clark family proud.

[Rich Davis]

I can't wait to two great games. Two great games tonight. Ohio State, Notre Dame. And then I'm going to watch Gerald's game, bro.
