Because if I told you Danny, what's The final score? 27 20. That's within a point of the over under. If you told me 24:20 I'd say under. But then you can't. You can't see these teams going off. Of course you can. I'll go.

Well I hate to tell you what other people are saying because it really doesn't matter matters what we think, right? But if they are expecting a blowout, let's say a blowout happens, they're saying it's more likely to be the Eagles with the blowout.

So it's actually really interesting to see, see that a legitimate fight is off, but a fight with Jake Paul is on. It goes to show you the culture we're in.

Terence Crawford, they're saying that fights off. And the Canelo Jake Paul things looks more likely. Yeah, that's the bell influencer boxing. Take it over. What's your thoughts?

[Minnie Driver]

I, I think Canelo is dominant.

You know, I get it. Jake Paul is really, you know, really good at fighting and you know, he's done a good job. But fighting Canelo.

That's right.

There are people that say that might be like a one round deal.

What inspired you to play football? And at what point did you realize, I'm really good at this?

[Nate Thompson]

Yeah. What. What age?

[Bijan Robinson]

Yeah, when you're a little kid, I.

[Minnie Driver]

I just know, like, you know, God definitely blessed me to play the sport. You know, I obviously play for him, so it's. It's been amazing. But it was really. When I was like 4 years old, 4 or 5 years old, playing flag football and just. I mean, I ran backwards the first carry, so that was. That was cool.

[Bijan Robinson]

But after that, taunting the people chasing you.

[Minnie Driver]

No, I, like, he went the wrong way.

[Matt Castle]

Yeah.

[Bijan Robinson]

I thought, you can't catch me.

[Minnie Driver]

No. Yeah. Yeah. I, like, I just ran backwards.

[Bijan Robinson]

I thought you were so fast that.

[Nate Thompson]

You running backwards, like five years old. My. My son starts T ball next week, so now I'm going to be assessing every move he makes.

[Minnie Driver]

Sure. Just make sure. Because my mom was like, what is he doing? Like, this is. Might not be the sport, but yeah, man, it's been. It's been something I just love to do.

[Nate Thompson]

That's so cool. Awesome, Bijan. First two years in the league, over 2,400 yards rushing. And I think this year, between you, Seyquan, you know, Derrick Henry, the running.

[Minnie Driver]

Back is back, no doubt.

[Nate Thompson]

I'm sorry. People ruffing around, headphones. Was that something that you took as a compliment when Saquon. Did you hear he put you in his top three?

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah. I mean, that was. That was great, man. Like, that was awesome. Obviously, you know, he's been the guy leading the charge this year, and it's been fun to see. And, you know, there's a lot of guys, you know, that are right behind him that, you know, has been elevating this position this whole season. And for me, like, I mean, you have, what, four guys that. We're 100 and some yards away just from 2,000.

[Nate Thompson]

It's amazing.

[Minnie Driver]

All purpose, like or two of us. So it was. It was definitely a cool thing seeing all the guys just. Just be great for their teams and great for the NFL and being, you know, try to be the most offensive or most impactful off the players in the league.

Now when he's speaking so highly of you.

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah.

You know, there is a brotherhood. You guys play the same position.

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah.

Does that mean you're rooting for him this weekend?

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah, absolutely.

Or him in particular. Or the Eagles.

[Minnie Driver]

I mean, definitely the Eagles, but, like, I really want him to do. Do really well. I think that'd be really cool. Just, like, finish the season off the right way for running backs and to you know, show everybody just the ability that what you can do for, for an offense and obviously his off to line is, Is incredible, but you know, just showing the gifts that he's been given on, on the biggest stage. It'll be pretty cool.

Who are some of your role models on your come up when you were a little kid?

[Matt Castle]

Like.

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah.

[Bijan Robinson]

Who influenced your style as a player?

[Minnie Driver]

So definitely like Ladanian Thomason lt, He's been the guy that I used to watch a lot. And then obviously like Reggie Bush at usc. I still have his tapes because my grandpa, he was a PAC 10 official, so he would have all the games that he had when he did USC. So that was great. And then like LaShawn McCoy is one of them. Like, he's, he's a guy that I used to love to watch run the football. And then A.J. peterson, like, those are the four guys that I was always like watching in, trying to study and trying to make moves off of them. And it was pretty cool.

[Bijan Robinson]

Do they reach out to you though, and tell you, man, hey, we're proud of you. This is incredible?

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah, absolutely. I talk to every single one of them and I mean they've. They've been just great mentors for me and just always been shouting me out and it's been, it's been pretty cool.

[Bijan Robinson]

I love that, man.

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah.

[Nate Thompson]

Yeah. Bijon, I gotta say, you look cool in that uniform. I always feel like the Falcons uniform.

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah.

So an 8 and 9 team, not. Not the way you wanted to finish the season.

Yeah.

But a lot of times people say eight, nine, that's like football purgatory because you're sort of stuck right there, like.

[Minnie Driver]

Playoff in the middle.

[Nate Thompson]

But I feel like you guys are just like a move or so away and you're. And I'm not saying your division's not tough, but I thought you guys had it this year. You look forward to next year and say, all right, dude, guys, we're like a couple moves or adjustments away from really getting to that next level. Is that your mindset?

[Minnie Driver]

Most definitely. And for us, like, you know, when we do make those moves and whatever we do, I know they're going to do it the right. In the right manner, they're going to do the right thing. They're going to pick the right people for this program because, I mean, and honestly, like, you know, we don't want to look too much ahead, but, you know, I know that we play you know, one day, one game at a time. But we're trying to, you know, be the best team, not just in the. In the south, but like, in the NFL, hopefully, and try to have, you know, the kind of talent that can take us to that kind of level, which I believe we. We're about to do. And we're, you know, getting to have this offseason. So, you know, it's been. It's been fun to. To see other teams, you know, in the playoffs. It's. It's definitely stunk. Like, it's definitely hurt, too. But hopefully we can. We can do some big things for that next year.

[Nate Thompson]

Yeah, Bijan, we saw our buddy PUK in the KUA the other day, and he was saying how he set a bum to say goodbye to Cooper Cup. They're boys and, you know, some of these deals, I'm guessing players find out when we find out they do. Like, you're seeing stuff like, Kirk Cousins might get released and Penck might be officially your guy.

[Minnie Driver]

I know.

[Nate Thompson]

Are you going to find out when we find out?

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's. That's exactly like when.

[Nate Thompson]

What happens to the group chat after that?

[Minnie Driver]

No, I mean, what Mike got. Got a name, the starter. Like, we all find out. Found out on the Internet. It's like on social media. Like, that's how we found out. So it was. It's like little things like that that, I mean, obviously you can't control, but it's you. You find out when everybody else does.

[Bijan Robinson]

So what goes through your mind when you hear that the Falcons are expected to cut Kirk Cousins? Do you want to reach out or you just play it back or you just wait, see what happens?

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah, you just kind of just have to see what happens because, I mean, obviously people could say, like, we're going to do this, this, and this on social media, but it might be false. Like, and as much as you want to reach out, you don't want to reach out because you don't be that guy. Yes, exactly.

[Bijan Robinson]

And it's out of your control. Right.

[Minnie Driver]

So, like, honestly, you just kind of just play the. Play, play, play the car. See, See what's true and just kind of wait.

[Bijan Robinson]

All right.

[Nate Thompson]

Other group chats, by the way, among teammates. You guys. Does the group chat?

[Minnie Driver]

Not really. Not really group chats? Yeah, we. We kind of stay away from, like, outside source things in the group chat because we just. We just don't want to stare up anything or cause anything.

[Bijan Robinson]

What's your relationship with Penix Jr. Yeah.

[Minnie Driver]

I mean, it's It's a great relationship. Great relationship. That's my dude, man.

[Bijan Robinson]

He's already your dude.

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah, absolutely.

So if he is the guy, you don't have to work on the relationship. You guys are cool.

[Minnie Driver]

Not at all.

Like, that's. And. And that's the kind of guys that they bring in, too. Like, they don't want to bring in guys that are standoffish or like, that don't talk to the teammates or that. That don't really gel. Like, he immediately gelled as soon as he got in, and it was pretty cool.

[Nate Thompson]

When you see, you know, guys like you say, Kwon, Derrick Henry having these monster years, people keep saying, like, well, the Chiefs could just game plan against Saquon. Can you really game plan to stop a guy at that level? Like, I mean, have other teams tried this?

[Minnie Driver]

I think every. I think every team probably tried it. It's really hard, man. Because the thing that's hard about it is you got a quarterback that can run and he's taking the defender away from the play. So the. The blocks happen a lot more cleaner and you can see a lot more. A lot more holes in the defense when. When that happens. And then you have two of, like, some of the best receivers in the NFL on the outside, and you have a tight end that's one of the best tight ends. So you have so many threats around you. That helps him out a lot. But, yeah, you can't really. You can't really game plan against it. All you can do is try hard to stop it. But any one of those runs that he has can break for. For a long one.

[Nate Thompson]

I gotta ask Dijon Robinson hanging with Kavino and Rich.

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah.

I always love to put myself in the scenario of an athlete. You're way bigger, stronger.

Yeah, you know, you got age on me and everything. Could a regular guy 10 carries in the NFL with a good O line gain 1 yard? Would he get copy? Yeah, you think so?

[Bijan Robinson]

Wow.

[Minnie Driver]

Yes, absolutely. Five yards now. Five yards.

[Nate Thompson]

Because you've seen those, like, what's the hardest thing to gain a yard? Hit a three pointer in the NBA, like, yeah, get a baseball if appropriate.

[Minnie Driver]

You said what you said. With a good old line. With a good old line, you can gain 1 yard.

[Bijan Robinson]

Leave it at that. Yeah. Hey, I'm happy with one yard.

[Minnie Driver]

Five yards is hard because he has to. He has to try to outrun a linebacker coming at him and that kid. But one yard you can literally get the ball and dive.

[Nate Thompson]

Is there nothing more frustrating? And this happens to every elite running back like you. You got that seam, the breakaway, and a guy just get your angle.

[Minnie Driver]

Oh, that's the worst.

[Nate Thompson]

Because I always see the running back pop up and slam down the football. Is that the worst?

[Minnie Driver]

That's the worst feeling ever. Like, and then it's. You didn't just get caught, but then your whole team's gonna start like, oh, you got caught. You can't. You can't outrun the player. Like, they're gonna start making fun of you. Like, yeah. And then all you can do is be like, dang, bro. Like, you can't say nothing to it, because that's what happens.

[Bijan Robinson]

You know, we've been talking about a lot this week is how defenders now are just punching at the ball. They're just throwing left hooks, right hooks.

[Minnie Driver]

And I love it.

[Bijan Robinson]

It's. It's. They're on target all the time. Are you feeling that when you're covering the ball? I mean, because you're really just getting punched.

[Nate Thompson]

Your fumbles are down this year, so.

[Minnie Driver]

You, like, you're prepared. I didn't have a fumble this year. Like, the only one was when the ball went over.

[Bijan Robinson]

You didn't have any fumble, but you caught a few right hooks to the ribs.

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah, yeah, but. But the cool thing is, like, now that guys are starting to, like, try to punch at the ball, they're not tackling, so.

[Bijan Robinson]

So you like that better?

[Minnie Driver]

Oh, absolutely, because then you're not tackling, and then you're breaking tackles, and, I mean, obviously, we're taught to, like, you know, high and, like, squeeze the ball and everything like that. So, man, it's cool for me, hey.

[Bijan Robinson]

As a superstar in your position, you're a young guy. You're in the NFL, you're making big money, you're scoring touchdowns. As a player, you got to keep yourself hyped up all the time, right? You got to be that guy. So you got to get in your own head, like, I'm the man. I got to be the man.

[Minnie Driver]

Of course.

[Bijan Robinson]

So when you're doing all that and you're living this cool lifestyle, how do you stay grounded?

[Minnie Driver]

Absolutely. So with this. With this campaign, it's the big draft campaign, and, you know, we want 10,000 mentors for 30. 30,000 kids who want to draft a thousand mentors, which is really cool. And I think it's just cool to have those kind of mentors. Like, for me, obviously, you guys have mentors. And, you know, I've always had mine throughout my life and my coaches and my dad, everybody, man. Like my mom. So, I mean, for these kids that don't have one, you know, we need to start now to help these kids out, because it's only going to help us in the world and help us grow as people. But, I mean, it's definitely been a great opportunity to be with them and to represent them, you know, throughout my time, my journey here.

Bijan Robinson, big brothers and big sisters. You know, so many people in your business. I gotta ask you this because you seem like such a cool dude. So many people in your business retire so early. So, yeah, you know, they're older guys on the field, but young men in life, no doubt. What do you think about after football?

You're really good. I do a lot of. I do a lot of different things. Like, I dj. I've been doing the dj, this DJ series in the NFL. So that's been pretty cool. So, I mean, and then I have, like, this Bijan Mustard sin business that's, you know, that I. That I have so, like, just three different things that I want to continue to grow and elevate, so. Because I always know it's important to. To have all this stuff after football and to do. I mean, what you guys are doing is. Is what I want to do as well, so, like, it's been pretty cool, man.

Well, no, but it felt like best player available and he kind of Fell in their lap. The NBA draft. That' it felt like when the Lakers got connect, a lot of people did.

Except LeBron, who I saw this kid play forever. He always knew. Of course. LeBron knew. Of course. No, you're right. There is. It was too bad, but you need. You need somebody to play defense on that team. Yeah. And at least Williams will give you a spot in the Wiggins post. It's not lipstick on a pig, because the warriors aren't a pig. But to me, it's. I just don't. I don't see that move. I don't think there were any moves they could make. So maybe they're just like, well, we got to do something. Let's try it. And who knows? But I just don't think it knocks off Oklahoma City or anybody else. They're just fighting to get into the top ten right now, let alone the top six.

Danny, we were saying yesterday how the west is stacked and the east is meager, like Bob Seeger.

If right now, if the 11 seed Golden State warriors, who are 25 and 25, were in the east, they would be the six seed, essentially. So it's like you're talking about the east being, you know, very few quality teams. There's going to be west teams that are over 500 that don't even make the play in the game.

But it's. I mean, it'll be interesting to see how the matchups break down in the brackets, especially if you get these younger teams against some of these old heads, if you will, with the Suns, Lakers and Warriors.

And people said, hey, no, LeBron, you can't do that. But Pat Riley did trademark it, and now he's getting paid. We wondered how that was gonna work.

Scotty doesn't know. That would be like if that song won Rock song of the year. And Scotty, is Drake the biggest diss track of all time? And the question, though, now wins awards. Will the NFL allow the line about pedophile to stick? Because they're saying, will Kendrick change it? Will they beep it? Will they let it fly? Could lawsuits happen? Like, that's. Since it's a diss track, you know, not all the lyrics are kind. So do you think they'll let that fly? Or if you're the NFL, do you say, hey, dude, if you don't change, we gotta beep it?

NFL is known for playing it safe. So I think the NFL and, you know, millions of families watching will play it safe. In this case, if they have to beep it, they'll be on standby to beep it.

[Matt Castle]

Yeah. And also remember, rap artists do a lot of shows where they have to do their radio versions of the song. So he's. He's well versed at being careful with his lyrics.

[Nate Thompson]

No doubt. Now, Covino, a lot of NBA trades, but there's a guy that's probably done in Atlanta, and it's not Bijan Robinson.

He's got a bright future. Kirk Cousins.

Yeah, we talked to Bijan Robinson about it. He's just waiting on his group chat to see what happens. And, you know, he finds out when we find out on social media, but it looks like they're cutting ties with Cousins and investing in Pennix Jr. Moving forward.

[Nate Thompson]

You know what it reminds you of the, the NFL draft when the sentiment was like why on earth would they take Penix Jr. When they just gave Kirk Cousins all that money and the, and, and a lot of people were like, you know why? Because it's the NFL. You never know. Cousins was coming back from injury, he's getting older. And you know, the sentiment was, well, even if Cousin plays a couple years, you'll have Penix Jr there. Talk about grand opening, grand closing. Like that didn't even last more than a season. And now we're looking at all right in year two. Here's the keys to the car. Michael Penix Jr. And if cousins is.

Released, I don't think he likes that.

How much money will Kirk Cousins have made in that contract? That contract was for how long? That was a big ass contract.

[Bijan Robinson]

So Danny G. Did the math. While you look that up, Danny G. I'll read the stats you put up before. In his 13 year career with NFL contracts alone, yeah. Kirk Cousins has made $294 million. That's just on NFL contracts.

[Nate Thompson]

That's like Powerball stuff.

[Bijan Robinson]

Yeah, that's insane. That's in the lottery, dude.

[Nate Thompson]

It's like he like he won the Powerball.

[Bijan Robinson]

That's the sixth highest though in active players. So that's no chump change, man. That's a lot of flow and that.

[Nate Thompson]

And by the way, let's remember where his career started, where he couldn't even really find a place. You know, it was like Washington, then Minnesota, then you know, he's bounced around.

[Matt Castle]

Yeah, people thought he was just like a really, really good backup.

[Nate Thompson]

And take a Look now, dude, four years, 180, including $50 million as a signing bonus and 100 million of that guaranteed. So for a guy that played most of the year but way underperformed, is that the easiest money you think a pro athlete has ever made? Is there someone else that comes to mind? Like they signed a big deal and they were hurt like so far. I mean I know it's an injury, but Brandon Iuk signed that big deal with the Niners, got hurt like a game into it. Remember you signed.

There's a lot of examples like that of like Jacoby Ellsbury that signed with the Yankees. Never played ever.

Dude, tease me now about Jamarcus Russell. Yeah, that was before, that was before the low lower rookie salaries.

So we like to chop it up here. Live from Radio Row New Orleans. But we're really just trying to get you to think of those rare moments where, look, work stinks most of the time, but there's every once in a while where the gods smile on you and you get paid to do basically nothing. Right. Everyone has to have one little moment in their life where they're like, that was the easiest money I ever made. Rodney Dangerfield style. Some easy money and rich. I know you have a story too that comes to mind of like, yo, that was the easiest payday I ever had.

[Nate Thompson]

Can I tell you that? I think I have the answer. It's not, it's not the biggest money deal, but can you think of a guy and you're always going to come up with guys on your team. So part of me that it's a Met, but can you think of a guy that signs a deal and like almost didn't play yet your team still wasted payroll and salary on this guy. Do you remember former Oakland A, he was around the league a little bit. Jed Lowry.

[Bijan Robinson]

I remember the name.

[Nate Thompson]

Remember the name. Jed Lowry. The Mets signed him in the late 20 teens. From what I understand as I'm reading his stats, on January 10, 2019, Lowry signed a two year deal with the Mets. He was placed on the disabled list, the IL with a sprained knee. Ultimately, in two years as a method, he had seven at bats.

[Bijan Robinson]

Oh my God.

[Nate Thompson]

He saw no field time, seven pinch hits, no hits. No hits, 0 for 6 with a walk in seven at bats. And he signed a big two year deal.

[Matt Castle]

Enigma, which you turned me on to. Was it Netflix?

[Bijan Robinson]

Yeah, the.

[Nate Thompson]

With Aaron Rodgers.

[Bijan Robinson]

Aaron Rodgers tacky series. Yeah.

Remember Matt Flynn kept talking.

[Bijan Robinson]

Yes.

Throughout the. The docu series. He made more than $19 million during his NFL career.

And he only had seven starts.

[Nate Thompson]

And you know, it was based on that one game, one good game. He played for the packers as a backup.

[Matt Castle]

Yeah.

[Nate Thompson]

And, and lit it up. And then the Seahawks signed him and if you remember how that story went, then they drafted Russell Wilson. Russ beat him out in camp and never.

[Matt Castle]

Yeah, then he, then he goes to the Raiders and Derek Carr beat him out in preseason.

[Nate Thompson]

So it's. Yeah.

[Bijan Robinson]

That that guy still got his $19 million.

[Nate Thompson]

I mean, I mean there have been times where Covino and I have worked really hard and haven't really got paid for something we did, hosted an event, you know, did something for a client. And then there's those few times that in everyone's career and I'm sure everyone feels the same way.

[Bijan Robinson]

Yeah, you can't believe you got paid.

[Nate Thompson]

Like, there was a time where I've hosted events where I've done such minimal work. Like I just played music and made like one announcement. It was a pretty nice payday. And I remember being like, like, why would they pay me this?

[Matt Castle]

You feel like you're robbing a bank.

[Nate Thompson]

You know what?

[Bijan Robinson]

That's the first thing. A lot of times as radio hosts, we'll host a sales event and they want you to come by and you think that you're gonna have to speak at this event and sometimes they don't want you to. And you're like, really? So why am I here?

[Nate Thompson]

So you just want me to like walk around?

[Matt Castle]

Yeah, like a. You're like a male model.

[Minnie Driver]

Yeah.

[Bijan Robinson]

So what am I here to do?

[Matt Castle]

You don't want me ever in your life.

[Bijan Robinson]

You don't want me on the mic to like at least make an announcement or say hello to the clients. And it's like you're basically paying us to do nothing. That again, there's a lot of times we don't get paid anything at all. But in those moments it's like, it evens out because like, wow, they paid us for that.

[Nate Thompson]

So whatever your line of work is, I'm sure there's an example of this because I'll give you one more. During COVID my wife and I, we bought our house in Los Angeles. But in order to buy that house, we had, we had a property in Texas that we sold. That was when people were looking for houses. Inventory was low, you know, prices were going through the roof. Our real estate agent was sending us like fruit baskets and prizes and wine and everything because they put the house on the market. It sold in a day because that was when the market. And he's like, listen, I've never sold the house. I'm taking a commission for. He felt guilty, the real estate guy.

[Bijan Robinson]

He's like, oh, but he took it.

[Nate Thompson]

Oh, he took it. But he was. He sent my wife and I like some prizes essentially because he's like, he didn't do anything. I did nothing.

[Bijan Robinson]

Sold himself.

[Nate Thompson]

And that's the Kirk Cousins story. Everyone did nothing.

[Bijan Robinson]

Yeah, he did nothing for that team.

[Nate Thompson]

But he seems like a good dude.
