I love writing more than anything. You're left alone, you know, you do three hours in the morning, you write three hours in the afternoon, go pick up a kid from school and write at night. And after nine hours you come out with seven pages and then you're moving on.
Alec Baldwin
And actor and comedian Jack McBrayer. The most important aspect is the collaboration with people that I like, I trust are talented. That has been the most amazing gift to me about this crazy business that we've chosen. Meeting these people who have such diverse talents and you're able to create something together. Listen to here's the thing on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

All right. Hey, don't forget fox Sports Radio YouTube channel. I always remind you anything you miss there. Plus lots of fun video to go along with what you're hearing. So we're talking about something, I promise you. Check out the Fox Sports Radio Our.
Steve Covino
Bonus pot is there too. Over promised. But it's Fat Tuesday and we be rocking out. Let's go 87799 on Fox. Man, the lines are loaded in celebration of Fat Tuesday. Now you can always chime in at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. In fact, we recommend you always do that. Let's get involved. Let's stay interactive. The show really never ends. Appreciate all the feedback. Again, I'm Steve Cavino. That is Rich Davis and again, hope you're having a Saquon Barkley type of day. As I said earlier, little fun fact. I don't think a lot of people know that Saquon Barkley is the nephew of Iran Barkley, famous boxer who just dominated in the 80s. And if you remember, Roberto Duran got the best of them at one point, which was a big fight, big moment. But Saquon, huge fight fan and he is the nephew of Iran Barkley. He sent a two year $41.2 million extension with the Eagles. Props to him. Yeah, we'll talk some football. We got Travis Hunter and Shay to get to Shaq Diesel trivia this hour, but I don't Want to keep people hanging?
Alec Baldwin
You know, we'll go rapid fire through these, but based on the Saquon contract code.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Alec Baldwin
Just when everyone said, oh, running backs don't matter. Over the last couple of years, Christian McCaffrey. And then last year, Saquon and Derek Henry were like, oh, yeah, running backs don't matter. Running back, hold up.
Jack McBrayer
You don't forget Josh Jacobs with the Packers.
Alec Baldwin
And Josh Jacobs. Running backs have been such a crucial part of offensive success. The minute everyone started counting out running backs, like, you know, you could do running back by committee. Who cares? The minute that sentiment came into the forefront, a lot of teams like, oh, yeah, really? Oh, really. And you'll see. You saw what happened the last two seasons.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Alec Baldwin
All right, your favorite big guys, it's Fat Tuesday. Rapid fire. We'll be done with this. And then I have an NBA thought based on a stat I just saw. I just saw. We'll go to Alex in Colorado. What's up, Alex?
Rich Davis
Oh, hey, man. Love you guys.
Alec Baldwin
Thanks, man.
Rich Davis
You know, called in twice and, you know, you're great.
Alec Baldwin
Appreciate that.
Rich Davis
Big Ben Wallace. Big Ben Wallace. So you crushed me with the feelers like Prince Fielder, Tussle Fielder, fat dudes that just crushed it. And I was thinking of, you know, my hometown, Detroit. We got Big Ben Wallace.
Alec Baldwin
You know, when have you ever seen that graphic? I know you have Kavino. So I'm just speaking to the collective you where. It shows you where kids played in Little League, and it was always the big dude that was catcher or first base, like Lefty was first base or big guy. And big guy, you have a. If you're a coach of a Little League team and you got a big guy, what's your instinct? First base, first base, or catcher?
Steve Covino
That's my instinct. Yeah.
Alec Baldwin
Yeah, that's, you know, it's where you go.
Steve Covino
I have another honorable mention for basketball. How about Chubby from Teen Wolf? He was on the Beavers. Remember that?
Alec Baldwin
Chubby played by the same dude that says, look, it's Enrico Palazzo.
Steve Covino
He was also Francis Buxton in Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
Alec Baldwin
What a guy.
Steve Covino
Yeah, his name's Mark Holton, by the way. Mark Holton. Chubby from, you know, the Beavers. Anyway, who else do we got?
Alec Baldwin
Let's say hi to Bill in North Carolina.
Steve Covino
Hey, what up, Bill?
Alec Baldwin
I think the best answer so far have been Chubby and King Hippo. What's up, Bill?
Rich Davis
Yeah, I got. I got one for you.
Alec Baldwin
I'm going to.
Rich Davis
I'm going to jump across the fair gender fence and I'm going to give you one you guys probably work with. Or how about the Fabulous Sports Bay?
Alec Baldwin
I don't even know who the Fabulous Sports Babe is.
Steve Covino
It's Danny G. Hey, Babe. Hey, what's going on?
Alec Baldwin
Jose in Rochester. What's up, Jose?
Steve Covino
Hey, what's up, Jose?
Rich Davis
Hey, guys. I love you so, man.
Alec Baldwin
You crack me up. Thanks, man.
Rich Davis
How about. I don't know if you guys remember Bob Lanier had the biggest foot in basketball. Size 22.
Alec Baldwin
It's a big fella. Was he a big guy?
Jack McBrayer
Fat foot.
Alec Baldwin
Fat foot. Matt in Illinois. What's up, man?
Rich Davis
Hey, how about John Daly?
Steve Covino
Yeah, we said he's the Babe Ruth of golf. For sure. That's a great one, Greg.
Alec Baldwin
And Hartford. It will take one more after that. What's up, Greg?
Rich Davis
Hey, I'm thinking. I got two. I'm thinking Cortez Kennedy and I'm thinking Duckworth from the old Trailblazers.
Steve Covino
Thank you, buddy. One last.
Alec Baldwin
What about. What about Goldberg, the goalie in. In Mighty Ducks? Is that a good one?
Steve Covino
I don't know. I never saw it.
Alec Baldwin
That's true. Gillen, Virginia, Wrap it up.
Steve Covino
Hey, what up, Gil?
Rich Davis
Hey, guys. So I got a few. We're gonna start in entertainment with any character from the Sopranos, but jump over to baseball with Kirby Puckett. And then I've got the young version of Doughboy.
Steve Covino
I like all those answers. Actually, I'm gonna go with Bobby Buckalow, though.
Alec Baldwin
You know, when you. Bobby Buckalow.
Steve Covino
And I'm gonna go, yeah, Kirby Puckett. Dude. When you think of Kirby Puckett and Tony Gwynn. That's why this is an inspiring conversation.
Alec Baldwin
It's the one I forgot to mention. I wrote down Tony Gwynn.
Steve Covino
I mean, these guys were not built with, you know, amazing physiques. And who was. Who was greater than Kirby Puckett and Tony Gwynn when it came to hitting and baseball and everything else, that's what made them insanely great. And they were such.
Jack McBrayer
Some of the hitters relatability with baseball too. Like it. That's why a lot of guys look down at the field and when they're in the stands, like, I could play that game. I could go out there and play.
Steve Covino
Inspiring.
Alec Baldwin
Such a skill sport.
Steve Covino
It is it it right there, man. And that's why there's an interesting debate going on between Travis Hunter and Shay Ohtani. I think that's a natural position transition there.
Alec Baldwin
No doubt. I just. You know what? Well, I'm going to put my NBA thought aside until later and we Go right into this conversation about Shohei Ohtani and Travis Hunter because when you talk about skill in sports, I'm not going to get to that conversation of like, what's the hardest sport to play? Because, you know, that's, that's so for debate, hitting a baseball, you could argue to this day is the hardest thing to do. I've seen, I've seen professional athletes from all different sports get together in like barbershop type scenarios and discuss, well, listen, I could go to the NBA tomorrow, maybe hit a couple free throws and, you know, I could throw up a couple three pointers and hope they go in.
Steve Covino
But I could probably debate for like some sort of decathlon or something like that. There's always a debate of some other sport. Fighting, of course. Right. The physical condition you need to be in, the skill level you need to have to compete.
Alec Baldwin
People say, you know, hockey players, they're skating.
Steve Covino
But it all comes back to the same old thing. The hardest thing to do is hit a round ball with a round bat. And it's baseball. It's a skill sport, as we just explained. And the debate this week was based on something Travis Hunter said. I mean, again, he was asked the question, but what is harder to play on both sides of the sport? Is it football or baseball? Here's what Travis Hunter said. If you missed it.
Alec Baldwin
Probably me, what I do in football, because it's a lot on your body. You know, Tony, he's a great player, but you got to do a lot of football.
Steve Covino
Again, the question was what's harder to play on both sides of the sport, football or baseball? Meaning is it harder for Travis Hunter who plays offense and defense, or is it harder for baseball? Shohio Tani as a pitcher and batter?
Alec Baldwin
The answer is obvious and you can't come down on Travis Hunter. It was a quick answer to a quick question at a combine.
Steve Covino
That's the other thing that people need to keep in mind when it comes to quotes and a lot of things we discuss here on Fox Sports Radio. Well, why did they say that? Hey, did you hear what Travis Hunter said? Yeah. Well, he was asked the question. That's what people need to keep in mind sometimes. Now that he said it like he was calling out Shohei Ohtani. Hey, Kavino, calling out baseball. Someone asked him a question that needs to be explained.
Alec Baldwin
Hey, Cavino. Yeah. You like big asses?
Steve Covino
I do.
Alec Baldwin
You hear Cavino, he's on Fox Sports talking about how.
Steve Covino
All he's talking about is Boot asked me. Yeah. So he was asked the question. He Answered. I'm not mad at him about it.
Mark Seal
But I asked you a question.
Steve Covino
I don't agree with him. I don't think anyone should. Does he make a point? It's almost like a two part answer. Football is going to be more toll on your body, but is it a harder sport to play both ways? No way. You got to be exceptional in baseball.
Alec Baldwin
I think it's a. I'm not saying, I'm not saying it's a short conversation, but I sort of think it is because there's two layers like you just said, the physical wear and tear and what it does to your body.
Steve Covino
You could be more gas playing both sides of football to play in the NFL.
Alec Baldwin
Forget college. I mean, he was a, you know, star player in college, Heisman Trophy winner. To play in college on both sides of the ball and do that in the NFL is extraordinary. The fact that you could line up on both sides of the ball and defend the pass and then also make, you know, ridiculous catches at a professional.
Steve Covino
And that's, you know, elite level too.
Alec Baldwin
What that does to your body is something no one's experienced. That's insane. But Justin Jefferson, if he needed to, could play defensive back. If you were like, yo, we're in the biggest emergency of all. Emergencies. CD Lamb, could you be a defender for a minute? He could probably do it. Maybe not elite, but guess what? I betcha Brandon Iuk or Tyree Kill could defend the pass.
Steve Covino
You know why, Rich? Because they've all done it at one point in their life in that sport. There's no question that these guys are playing both sides of the ball at one point.
Alec Baldwin
They may not be elite on both sides like Travis Hunter, but I could promise you, you take, you know, T. Higgins or any, any elite wide receiver that we talk about, if push came to shove, they could play defensive back, they could play free safety, they could do any of these things. And any guy in the secondary, if he needed to, could catch passes from a quarterback.
Steve Covino
But as we described with baseball, such a skill sport, to be elite enough to be a dominant pitcher and a dominant hitter at a big league level like Shohei Otani is doing, takes much more skill, much more difficult in our opinion, than what Travis Hunter has to do. And that's not to take anything away from him because it's remarkable. It's just to combat the answer he gave to that question. If you guys agree or disagree, would love to hear from you. 87799 on Fox. But I think what Shohei Ohtani is doing is much more Difficult. Much more impressive.
Alec Baldwin
It's a difference between yo, that's crazy, that's unbelievable. Versus, like, yo one guy has done it since Babe Ruth.
Steve Covino
Effectively harder to play on both sides. Fox Sports Radio Nation. Is there any debate. Does Travis Hunter have any truth to what he said?
Alec Baldwin
All right, let me, let me throw a curveball at you, Ohtani style. Shohei Ohtani at points. I mean, this guy's been an MVP without even pitching. Throw in the fact that in any given season he's a Cy Young candidate. That's what makes it insane. And not even a question for me. Like to take what, you know, a screwball or a, you know, Verlander or Scherzer in their prime or Paul Skeens is doing on the mount and imagine if that guy was also stealing 50 bases, hitting 50 home runs.
Steve Covino
That's the thing.
Alec Baldwin
Yeah.
Steve Covino
It's like, think of any slugger out there, Aaron Judge, he's not going to get on a mound and be as dominated as Johe has become on the mound. It's just not going to happen. Has he done it at one point in his career? You know, as a, as a high schooler in Little League? Yeah, of course. Everybody has. So I'm sure he has that experience. But to do it on that level, no way.
Alec Baldwin
I think the best.
Steve Covino
That's why when you see any position player take the man, they're always throwing junk pitches, knuckleballs, things like that. You sent me that random clip of Wade Boggs recently.
Alec Baldwin
I had never seen that. Dan Buyer, I know you've seen a lot of these clips. Did you ever see that Wade Boggs throwing knuckleballs from, like, back in the day he retired the side.
Mark Seal
No, I didn't.
Steve Covino
He was real pumped to make his debut. He was one of those guys known for always throwing a mean knuckleball, always wanting to get out there, and then finally got his chance with the Yankees.
Mark Seal
I've seen it.
Alec Baldwin
I never said I'm gonna find that incentive. I had never seen it myself. And it's during the Yankees Joe Tory days and the Yankees were down double, you know, double. 10 plus runs in the seventh or eighth inning. Out comes Wade Boggs, and he's throwing knucklers and he actually strikes someone out, gets two guys to ground out. It was. It was phenomenal.
Steve Covino
Right.
Alec Baldwin
The better question is not Travis Hunter versus Ohtani. You got to say, do you put what Ohtani is doing because pitching and hitting are so different, is that equal to what Primetime did or Bo Jackson playing two different sports because pitching and hitting, it's almost like two different sports. That's the better question.
Jack McBrayer
It would almost be like being a Pro bowl kicker, kicking, you know, 60 yard field goals and then also being able to play, you know, skill position.
Alec Baldwin
It would be like if Saquon Barkley could also kick like Justin Tucker.
Jack McBrayer
Yeah, exactly.
Alec Baldwin
It's. It's still two different skills. Like, I'll be honest, it sounds ridiculous, but I'll pat you on the back, Kavino, since I rarely do. So being a sports talk show host is different than when Covino does like rock radio. Oh, yeah, those are two different skills. Like when, when you hear Covino on one of the rock stations on SiriusXM.
Steve Covino
Hey.
Alec Baldwin
Oh, that was Metallica. And you know, he's shooting the crap about all his fun facts about rock music in between songs. Still hearing.
Jack McBrayer
Telling some of the same jokes, though.
Steve Covino
Oh yeah. Without a thing.
Alec Baldwin
Oh, the jokes are equally bad. But. But that skill is not the same skill as doing a talk show. It's a different skill set.
Jack McBrayer
Yeah. Different tool in the toolbox.
Steve Covino
Yeah, it absolutely is. That's actually a good question. Is that a better debate? Like what Bo Jackson did, what Deion Sanders did. Is that a better debate? Travis Hunter, regardless, not trying to take anything away from him. It's unbelievable. It's amazing. You know, the fact that we're even debating what he's doing with Shohei is a testament to how great he is. But I do think that two sides of baseball is harder to play than, you know, both sides of football.
Alec Baldwin
Kavino.
Steve Covino
I just. More taxing, more tolling on your more exhausting football to do both sides.
Alec Baldwin
Sure, there's football gurus that want to strangle me when I say this, but from my perspective, being a defensive back and a wide receiver are probably two of the most similar positions where you're, you're just doing close to the same thing, just on two different sides of the ball.
Steve Covino
I'm sure a professional would debate that.
Alec Baldwin
Of course they would. But I'm saying, like, it would be like defending a point guard or being a point guard that has the ball.
Steve Covino
But you would imagine the same athleticism is required.
Alec Baldwin
It's a very similar skill set. I maybe make. I could be totally wrong, but that's. Wide receivers tend to be.
Jack McBrayer
We were talking wide receiver versus defensive back, right?
Alec Baldwin
Yeah, yeah. Wide receivers usually are a little taller.
Mark Seal
I mean, if we talk about physically.
Alec Baldwin
Physical differences and have better hands and defensive backs a little quicker and they're.
Steve Covino
Receiving because their hands are better.
Alec Baldwin
Yeah.
Steve Covino
Now it became A debate. Travis Hunter, again, he was asked the question, what was harder to play on both sides? So we thought about it. We brought it to you. We'll take two quick phone calls and we'll get ready for some Shaq Diesel trivia.
Alec Baldwin
Let's say hi to Doug in Maryland. Hey, Doug.
Rich Davis
Hey, guys. How you doing? Hey, real quick. Yeah, I don't want to take a lot of time, but Travis Hunter's on the same level as Charles Woodson, who played both ways. But look, like I was telling your call screener, the the most difficult sport in the world to play is baseball. You're hitting a brown ball off of a round bat, and then he throws 100 miles per hour. I mean, there's no argument. It's Ohtani. And trust me, I'm not a big Ohtani fan, but I have to admire and respect the talent that he. That he has. I mean, there's no debate.
Steve Covino
You know what's so funny is that's one of those, like, automatic responses that we all have. Round ball, round bat, hardest. Ever did those science nerds with the mustaches and brai ever put this to the test? Did John Brinkus ever really do a sports science on. On what really is the hardest? Because we just know, as sports fans.
Alec Baldwin
We all know that cricket's easier than. Is that what you're saying?
Steve Covino
I'm saying we just as sports fans, have heard that, and that's our automatic response. Round ball, round bat, hardest thing to do.
Alec Baldwin
I don't know if that's true. Am I dreaming?
Steve Covino
It seems to be, though. When you got such a short reaction time, I believe John Brinkus did put that to the test. Like how insane it is in sports science, to what were you reacting to, React in that split second, that split second to make that decision on where to pitch is going to be.
Jack McBrayer
Because when we've all. We've all stood in a batting cage, the fastest one, and you know, before you can even think about getting the bat around the pitches past you. Whereas all of us have thrown a football. Some of us can throw it better than others, but we can all spiral the ball. We've all caught a punt, you know. You know, so it seems at least easier. Even though the NFL is not easy, the NBA is not easy.
Alec Baldwin
You don't have a defender in your face, but we've all made a three pointer.
Jack McBrayer
Exactly.
Alec Baldwin
I think I may be dreaming this, but this has been discussed among athletes, and I feel like Mookie Betts, who's known as such a great athlete across the Board has discussed with fellow elite athletes, football, baseball, basketball, where he's like, yo, with all due respect, I know I wouldn't be great in the NBA, but I might score four points, chuck up a couple shots, get lucky, but there's no way. And he's talking to, like, NBA players saying, yo, there's no way you're even touching the ball in 10 at bats in the big leagues. Like, you're not. You're not even making contact yet. In the NBA, I wouldn't be good. But I think a guy like Mookie Betts said, I'll get off a couple shots and maybe I'll get lucky. You're not getting lucky in the batter's box. I think that's where it ends. All right, you want to say hi to Robert in Minnesota? Robert, you're on with cnr. We got Shaq Diesel trivia on deck. What's up, Robert?
Rich Davis
Hey, guys. Love this show. It's great.
Alec Baldwin
Thanks, man. Thank you.
Rich Davis
I think it's important also to acknowledge the cultural differences we don't discuss with the international players. Whether it's from Asia, from South America, from Venezuela, from Dominican Republic. These guys are adjusting to a culture change as well as their sport. And an important question to ask is, everybody from clock sports.
Steve Covino
Gotta dump that idiot?
Alec Baldwin
Yeah, that guy calls every day and.
Jack McBrayer
He changes his voice every day.
Alec Baldwin
But you know what he does? He says. He says something rude at the end, but he doesn't realize that, like, it's purposeless because we have a dump button.
Steve Covino
Yeah, but. Yeah, but the beginning part of the call is always great.
Jack McBrayer
I know, man.
Steve Covino
He ruins his own call.
Jack McBrayer
You guys have a troll caller now. That officially means Covino and Rich have arrived.
Steve Covino
Yeah. We made it, bro. We made it.
Alec Baldwin
Hey, yeah.
Steve Covino
Hey, you like me now?
Alec Baldwin
With that said, let's play some Shaq Diesel trivia if you want to win a Cavino and rich swiggy stainless steel water bottle. Some goodies. Let's go. 87799 on Fox. We will play Shaq Diesel trivia next right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Julie Stewart Binks
Okay, we'll lean into Nate's playing experience and tap into our interests away from hockey and try to do it. Energy lines are supposed to to do provide an emotional boost. How do you feel about all that, Nate?
Nate Thompson
I'm vibing Julie. I'm ready to roll.

Alec Baldwin
I'll name drop.
Steve Covino
Oh, my goodness.
Jack McBrayer
Not only are CNR friends with Tyson and Mahomes.
Steve Covino
Hey, man.

They're also buddies with the Big Aristotle.

Alec Baldwin
I want confirmation that during our fat guy in sport conversation, I did not bring up Shaq.
J
I was just going to say you guys were lucky I didn't hear my name. I was listening. But yeah, definitely Charles Barkley belongs to this conversation. Especially now. Definitely Charles Barkley.
Jack McBrayer
One thing fat on you is your pockets.

Jack McBrayer
How are you, Mark?
Alec Baldwin
Say what's up to Shaq, longtime listener, first time caller.
Nathan King
What's going on, Shaq?
Steve Covino
I appreciate that, Mark.
Jack McBrayer
What do you do for a living there in Maine?
Rich Davis
I make alcohol for Sazerac.
Jack McBrayer
Send me some nice hookup. Yeah. Here are the rules for Shaq Diesel Trivia. The first contestant with two correct answers is the champion. If there's a tie, we have a tiebreaker question. Your name is your buzzer, but you do have to wait until all three possible answers are read. If there's two wrong answers in a row, we move on to the next question. Are you ready?
J
All right, let's get into this.
Jack McBrayer
Let's get it on.
J
Big Aristotle party started. Okay, now I'm not on the list, but who holds the record for the most NBA free throws made? A, Oscar Robertson. B, LeBron James. C, Karl Malone.
Rich Davis
Mark.
Jack McBrayer
Mark.
Rich Davis
Oscar Robertson.
Steve Covino
No.
Alec Baldwin
Oh, Rich.
Jack McBrayer
Rich for the steal.
Alec Baldwin
I mean, just based on longevity. LeBron James.
Jack McBrayer
No, no. You're both losers.
Alec Baldwin
By the way.
Steve Covino
The hot Karl Malone, the hot car.
Jack McBrayer
LeBron is second on the list.
J
787.
Alec Baldwin
You know, LeBron one point away from 50,000 tonight, right? Yeah, I saw Dan shaking his head in there.
Jack McBrayer
I wonder why.
Alec Baldwin
Dan's furious.
Mark Seal
Yeah, I wonder why as well. Shaq, you know what Rich knows more about? I thought his nickname was the Mailman.
Alec Baldwin
No, not.
Mark Seal
Not what you said.
J
Rich knows more about Maggie Malone. All right.
Jack McBrayer
All right. Nobody on the board yet as we move to round two.
J
Round two. Spider. John Salley won NBA titles with three different Teams. The Pistons, the Bulls. And who? A, the Spurs, B, the Lakers, or C, the Heat? John. Sally.
Rich Davis
Mark.
Jack McBrayer
Mark.
Rich Davis
The Lakers.
Jack McBrayer
Yes.
Alec Baldwin
There you go.
J
With me and Kobe in 2000.
Alec Baldwin
Mark on the board.
J
He's a good man.
Alec Baldwin
I knew that one, Shaq.
J
Yeah. Good for you, Mark.
Jack McBrayer
All right, Mark, Halfway to winning a swiggy as we go to round three.
J
What was I once quoted saying about my foul shooting? Hey, underhand foul shots would make me look like a big dummy. I'd rather go 6 for 13 at the line, B. Me shooting 40% at foul lines is just God's way of saying nobody's perfect. Or circumstances. Most of the people hating on my free throw shooting could never sniff the D league mark.
Jack McBrayer
Oh, Mark for the win.
Alec Baldwin
B. Yeah.
Jack McBrayer
B. Yes.
Alec Baldwin
Wow.
Steve Covino
Wow.
J
Me shooting 40% at the foul line is God's way of saying nobody's perfect. But I'm damn close.
Mark Seal
And he jumped right in there dang clean.
Steve Covino
Sweet.
Rich Davis
I wanted to win that squiggy. I'm sorry.
J
That was a great job.
Alec Baldwin
You know, Mark, we're happy for. By the way, Shaq, is it true you named your boat after yourself?
J
I did. It's called. What's it called?
Alec Baldwin
It would never sink. What was that stupid joke?
J
He called it Brick. Brick called it free throw. Free throw. That way I never sink it.
Jack McBrayer
Mark, congratulations. Hang on the line there in Maine. Thank you for listening.
Alec Baldwin
Mark's the man.
Jack McBrayer
Thanks, guys.
Mark Seal
I like Mark. Mark's energy. It's a good call.
Alec Baldwin
He brought it. He brought it.
Mark Seal
I like it.
Alec Baldwin
My joke failed. What was that. What was that stupid meme that went around about Shaq's boat?
J
It's called free throw because I would never sink it.
Alec Baldwin
Oh, that's right. Okay. That's what it is. That's what it is.
J
You can't tell jokes if you don't know the punchline.
Alec Baldwin
Okay? So sorry, Shaq. Have a good day.
J
Let her go.
Jack McBrayer
See you, brother.
Steve Covino
Thanks, Shaq.
Alec Baldwin
Thank you, Shaq. You know, thanks for coming in. As we. As we go to Dan Byer for an update, I want you to think about one thing.
Steve Covino
How bad that joke was.
Alec Baldwin
How bad that joke was.
Steve Covino
You know, you gotta know punchline to your own joke. I bet the joke was told. How about that, guys?
Alec Baldwin
Fool me once, shame on can't get fooled again. Dan Meyer. What's going on, man?
Mark Seal
Guys, crazy day in base. This story has been making the rounds. Actually, you know what? I'm gonna save it to the end. I'll save it to the end. Yes. What a tease. Kyrie. Irving Done for the year the Mavericks guard tore his ACL last night against the Sacramento Kings. He will need surgery and will not play again this season. And now there's possible talk maybe the Mavericks just keep Anthony Davis out for the rest of the year. Mavericks currently the 10 seed in the West, Jalen Suggs of the Orlando Magic hasn't played in more than a month. He's not going to play for the rest of the year. He had surgery to repair his left knee injury. Philadelphia Eagles made running back Saquon Barkley the highest paid running back in NFL history. Gets a two year extension worth $41.2 million. He becomes the first running back to break the $20 million a year mark. Jets released wide receiver Devonte Adams Vikings did not use the franchise tag on quarterback Sam Darnold. That means just two players got the franchise tag this year. Bengals wide receiver T. Higgins, who got it for the second time, and Chiefs guard Trey Smith had the franchise tag placed on him. The Cowboys didn't need to do it to defensive lineman Osa Adigazua, who signed a four year, $80 million extension with the team. CD Lamb of the Cowboys also restructured his contract. The free up about $20 million in cap space. Seahawks made a bunch of cuts today. Tyler Lockett was not one of them, but they saved $26 million in cap space. Packers signed kicker Brandon McManus. He's back on a three year deal while the Rams traded offensive lineman Jonah Jackson to the Bears in exchange for a sixth round pick that I mentioned. Devonte Adams got released. If I did I' but if I didn't he freed up about $30 million in cap space for the New York jets and reports say that Adams likely prefers to play on the west coast as he looks for a new team. University of North Carolina will not be appearing in HBO's off season version of Hard Knocks despite reports that they were last week. That is not going to happen. And now the baseball story happened in college baseball today. George Mason University. Their baseball team set an NCAA record by scoring 23 runs in one inning in a 26. 6 victory over Holy Cross. The GMU Patriots scored the runs in the second inning, did not hit a triple or a home run. Holy Cross had to use five different pitchers and at one stretch, George Mason had 19 straight batters reach base a 23 bottom of 23 run. Bottom of the second inning is George Mason gets that 20 run win today over Holy Cross.
Alec Baldwin
Guys, back to you is no emptier feeling when you're playing Even rec sports, if there's no run limit, like I play in one league where there's, you know, there's five run limit per inning just to keep the game moving. When you were a little league kid and the pitcher couldn't find the strike zone and you just felt like we're never going to get in the dugout.
Steve Covino
I hope you're not having a Holy Cross sort of day.
Alec Baldwin
Holy mackerel.
Steve Covino
Yeah, Holy mackerel is right. Thank you.
Alec Baldwin
DB I got to ask you a football question. You brought up devonte Adams. What is your thought? Because I'm too close to. I'm too close to the story to give you a real answer as a Niners fan. If devonte Adams wants to play on the west coast, if the Niners picked him up and got some type of deal. Is Devonte Adams and Debo Samuel a push to you or is Debo his youth give you a feel like Debo's got more.
Steve Covino
You know, that's how I feel. You already said it. I feel like Debo's going to give you a little more because I think he has some gas left and that's why the Commanders are excited about it. Again, it's. It's two sides to the story, right? Yesterday you heard here on Fox Sports Radio, Rich trying to justify that Tebow's game. I feel like it's not giving you all the stats and his decline and how he's just not that good anymore. If you go and talk to any Commanders fan or you talk to Jaden Daniels or anybody who's rooting for the Commanders, they're like, yo, these are the moves that we need to make, man. This is it. And if you talk to Debo, he'll tell you how excited he is to join that team, how hungry they are. So again, two sides to every story. That being said, I think Debo's got more juice.
Alec Baldwin
Devonte Adams played for Danny G's Raiders just a year ago.
Steve Covino
I think it's a push on attitude.
Alec Baldwin
He was on. He was on receiver. It is a push on attitudes. I feel like devonte and Debo not the cheeriest of wide receivers.
Steve Covino
I think there's a commonality there for.
Alec Baldwin
Sure, but I feel like devonte Adams is one of those guys where. And it's not the best trait. And again, I don't know him personally, so this could all be BS But I feel like he's one of those guys. We know these friends and we've been in relationships with people where when things are good, they're happy. When things are bad, they get all sour. And I feel like in a good situation, if devonte Adams was on the Niners and they were winning, don't you feel like devonte Adams, all of a sudden he's cheery and happy. Devonte Adams.
Steve Covino
Yeah. But he has a sour shoes on right now.
Alec Baldwin
Sour shoes?
Jack McBrayer
More like devontae Saddams.
Steve Covino
Yeah, more like Saddams. Good one, Sam.
Jack McBrayer
Sam, play the rim shot on yourself. Yeah. Rich Adams is going to have to be okay with taking a pay cut because, you know, no team's going shell out. What was it, $36 million or whatever the jets would have been on the hook for.
Alec Baldwin
I just feel like, you know, if McCaffrey's back in action, Kittle wants to remain a Niner, he will. And if you got Ayuk, Jennings, Pierce, all and you had a veteran like devonte, that's a pretty solid core of receivers. I just. I wonder if Happy Devante would take a pay cut to go to the 49ers. It's an interesting.
Steve Covino
You would hope. You would hope.
Alec Baldwin
And I only said the Niners because he said west coast. And the Niners now have a. A void to fill a little bit. Right now. I have an NBA question I want to end.
Steve Covino
So do the Rams.
Alec Baldwin
I mean, that is true. That's another landing.
Steve Covino
I don't see that as much of a fit, though. But. So there's an opening.
Alec Baldwin
Since Jimmy Butler joined the Golden State Warriors.
Steve Covino
Yeah, they've been streaking, dude.
Alec Baldwin
Eight and two.
Steve Covino
Yep.
Alec Baldwin
Since Luca joined the Lakers. I believe 11 and two are the.
Steve Covino
Two since AD joined the Mavericks. Oh, boy.
Alec Baldwin
Oh, no.
Steve Covino
Nightmare. By the way, though, when Dan Byer was reading his update on that and he's saying Kyrie's out for the season most likely. Right.
Alec Baldwin
Yeah.
Steve Covino
ACL surgery. Does that take heat and pressure off.
Alec Baldwin
Of A.D. well, you heard the other rumor story. He said they may just shut him down now.
Steve Covino
Yeah. So, I mean, why. Why would you. And how do you look at that? Like they made that move and his whole season's a bust as a result with the Kyrie thing would have happened. Like the whole story is kind of odd, but all these injuries. Ridiculous.
Alec Baldwin
Is it that the storyline, though, when most team like more than one star player, like that's.
Steve Covino
I think it takes some pressure off of AD they really threw the season away is what it comes down to.
Jack McBrayer
Just in that case, you're right. But also, we know AD Is a competitor and how much he fought to stay on the court all last season. And you know he has a chip on his shoulder, too.
Steve Covino
Not too.
Alec Baldwin
What's the point?
Jack McBrayer
No, I feel you on that. But I mean, there would have been pressure. You're right. There would have been pressure on AD to come back and help them lock up one of the playoff spots because as Byer said, they're in the 10th seed right now.
Alec Baldwin
Dude, reference my team that I was just talking about in football last year. Iuk out for the year. McCaffrey out for the year. When you lose the Pro bowl star players on your team, more than one of them, like one. One star's gone. You could try to pivot and be like, well, what could we do? It just sometimes it's like destiny. Like, this is just not the year when Trent Williams was wrong.
J
Yeah.
Alec Baldwin
When Trent Ayuk McCaffrey. Everyone's down. It's my. Yeah.
Jack McBrayer
Don't you think A.D. has something to prove right now as well, though? Because everybody's been talking about Luca and how much motivation he has, but they're. They're forgetting about Anthony Davis and his competitiveness.
Steve Covino
I think he has a lot to prove. He's being downplayed because of how sad they are about Luca and seeing how well he's doing in la. Yeah, I do think he has a lot to prove. I just don't think it's happening now.
Alec Baldwin
I'm just saying, when you look at the NBA Western Conference now.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Alec Baldwin
And you see the Golden State warriors, they're now in the six seed, which means no playing nonsense. Like, if the season ended today, they're the six seed. They proceed. Lakers, the two seed, are those two teams with the adjustments they made. And even Stephen A. Not only did he apologize to the.
Steve Covino
Boxer Lamont Roach, I apologize to that brother.
Alec Baldwin
He apologized to Jimmy Butler for not thinking that would be an impact move. And right now, you might look at a Western. Sorry.
J
I'm sorry, Jimmy.
Alec Baldwin
You might look at a Western Conference where the Lakers, the Warriors, a dominant okc and maybe throw the Nuggets in there for good measure. That might be. Those might be your four Western Conference teams and the return of. Oh, wait, Golden State and the Lakers.
Steve Covino
But is it really the Jimmy Butlers and the Lucas that are making the impact? They are by default because you could make the argument that they lit the fire of a Steph Curry and LeBron James. That's really what happened. You rejuvenated the old guys. It's the Colin Cowherd theory. You got to give credit where it's due. It's the young blood inspiring the Old guys to step their game up, to remind everybody that they're still the guy. And that happens just by default.
Alec Baldwin
Yeah.
Steve Covino
You know, you see Rich get real competitive. This is true. I swear to God. Rich doesn't even realize he's doing it. But if a young, handsome guy walks into the party, Rich really wants to show that he still has the game and the charm and the riz. And all of a sudden, Rich comes to life, and he's like, I'm the most charismatic, handsome guy in the room. It's just your instinct, dude. Like, if you're the guy. And then other people like, oh, maybe Jimmy Butler's the guy. Steph Curry's like, nah, hold up. I'm the guy. Well, if Luke is the guy, LeBron's like, hold up, wait a second, I'm the guy. And I think that's what we're seeing here, too. A little mix of everything. But it's not necessarily those moves. It's the oh, geez. Stepping up.
Alec Baldwin
I'm thankful that you acknowledge that about me.
Steve Covino
It's a weird. It's a weird trait, dude. It's an oddly competitive trait.
Alec Baldwin
I think it's a great trait.
Steve Covino
Yeah, but they're on the court. You're at a party. There's a difference.
Alec Baldwin
True. I just want to make sure everyone knows. Yeah. Hey, we got more coming on Rich next. Fox Sports Radio. Hang tight.

Julie Stewart Binks
Okay. We'll lean into Nate's playing experience and tap into our interests away from hockey and try to do what energy lines are supposed to do. Provide an emotional boost. How do you feel about all that, Nate?
Nate Thompson
I'm vibing, Julie. I'm ready to roll.

Those dudes. Now, Rich.
Alec Baldwin
Yeah, buddy?
Steve Covino
Do you know what the no leaf clover is that? Metallica sings about the no leaf clover. Metallica has a song called no Leaf Clover?
Alec Baldwin
I do not. Tell me all about it, stud.
Steve Covino
Think about it.
Alec Baldwin
It's bad luck. Yeah. Before leaf clover is good luck. I would imagine a no leaf clover is, like, terrible luck.
Steve Covino
Ba bam.
Alec Baldwin
Rich, what album is this from? The Black album. I don't know. I'm just naming any. Nah, that was before.
Steve Covino
So the no leaf clover is S and M. The opposite of good luck. You're right. So having bad luck. And you heard Dan Beyer, you heard the story today. You saw the highlight last night. Kyrie tore his acl. Was painful. It was sad, but it was inspiring. It was all moving. Fans were up on their feet. But ever since AD Got traded, it's been downhill. I mean, since Luka got traded, Mavs fans have been going through it in 2025. People are chanting, you know, thank you, Nico. At Lakers games. It's so embarrassing.
Alec Baldwin
Haven't the Mavericks even pivoted in another weird way where they raise ticket prices? And it's like. And you're raising ticket prices.
Steve Covino
But it actually started if you. If you go through the timeline. On January 14th, Derek Lively suffered an ankle fracture. Right. Then February 1st, the Mavericks trade Luca. And you're like, what? Everybody freaked out about that. Mavericks fans devastated. And I think we're seeing, like, the Impact was greater than anyone would have thought. The fans are really upset by this whole thing. Protesting. A lot of pressure on AD A lot of pressure on Nico Harrison.
Alec Baldwin
I mean, it felt big. We were in Vegas when it happened, and you heard the murmurs through the whole casino. Like Luke.
Steve Covino
They were like whispers, I think. So, again, that was February 1st. The Mavs trade Luca for AD on the 8th. February 8th, AD strains his abductor in the Mavericks debut. What? Second quarter.
Jack McBrayer
You started the third quarter.
Steve Covino
Started a third quarter. But the first two. Yeah, the first two were really like, whoa, man. Automatic gelling, like Magellan chemistry there.
Jack McBrayer
He and Kyrie looked really great together. One of the reasons why is because AD doesn't need the ball in his hands as much. And so Kyrie was obviously handling the ball a ton because no more Luka on the team.
Alec Baldwin
Yeah.
Steve Covino
And you're going to see great defense. It was great chemistry. They always wanted a ball together. And again, Strange is abductor. He's out on the 10th, Daniel Gafford springs his MCL. And then yesterday, the 3rd, Kyrie tears the ACL, and you probably get no ad return as a result. So everything has been downhill. It's like, Nico Harrison's no good. Terrible, horrible, very bad year. Every move he made was bad. And the team has been crumbling since. So they went from contenders to, like, yeah, I don't even think we're going to play anymore. So just some bad luck all around, Rich. It makes you think, have you been through a streak that bad? Have you seen a streak that bad?
Alec Baldwin
I. I think, personally, I think in relationships and life and work, we've all been through our hot and cold streaks. But I remember dating a woman once where everyone in her life, things started happening, too.
Steve Covino
Oh, yeah.
Alec Baldwin
And I left because I was like, I'm not next. Like, every. Everyone she knew was like, oh, they got a fender bender. Oh, her dad got sick. Her brother got arrested for weed.
Steve Covino
Her dog died.
Alec Baldwin
Her dog died. Everyone in her life, something was happening. I'm like, out. See ya. Sor. All right, well, listen, we'll see you tomorrow. Have a great Tuesday night. Ariba. Dare to, baby.
Steve Covino
See you in the promised land.
Alec Baldwin
Later, fatties.
