When I was a kid, I would always. Again, when I was a kid, I would confuse Larry Dallas from Three's Company with Neil Diamond.

No, I used to think different strokes. Mr. Drummond was Peter Gammons. I thought they were the same guy. I used to think Patrick Swayze and Kurt Russell were the same guy.

And Rob Lowe's like, jokingly frustrated like, I'm not Stamos.

But then again, they're both 61 and.

They don't look alike, but maybe they're cut from the same cloth in a way.

Like, oddly overly handsome for someone.

Rob Lowe's great. Yeah, it's really funny. They're both. And they're both not only ridiculously handsome, they're both really charming, funny guys.

Yeah, I love how Rob Lowe's kids make fun of him on social media. That's also a lot of fun. Anyway, let's talk a little NFL draft. We're less than a week away. I see all the guys, the editors in the hallway talking about who's going where, who's picking who, what's going to happen. We got the big Fox Sports Radio NFL draft show that's happening Thursday night. And Jackson Dart, from what I understand, Dart, get with it. Jackson is pulling an interesting move, which is he's not going to Green Bay to be there live for the draft. And it's an interesting thought. If you were a young kid, college kid, that's about to have your family stars be changed, you're going to make it to the National Football League. The money, the fame, your family could be middle class or struggling, and all of a sudden, again, your, your family's future has been changed forever. Would you want to be there to awkwardly bro hug Roger Goodell, get up on that stage and hold up your jersey, or do you want to spend that time in your living room with like your cousins and friends, just chilling out on the couch?

[Steve Covino]

It's a great question. I think it's more trendy, especially this year, to not go for whatever reason. So he's not on the attendees list again, Jackson D, do you gotta go? He's projected what, bottom of the first round?

[Israel Gutierrez]

Exactly.

There could be a team that could jump up towards the middle.

You know, someone that high. I think you should. These are once in a lifetime things and I get it. Well, you could say, then you should be there with your family. I think if you're more bottom down, then I understand. But this is a major event.

Are you a top draft?

[Steve Covino]

These are spectacles nowadays. We talked about the evolution of the draft for you not to go. It's like the guy who doesn't go to his prom, it's like, why not? Why wouldn't you go? The guy that doesn't go to the company Christmas party and you're like, well, why didn't you go?

[Rich]

Devil's advocate, do you want me to be Keanu or the guy who's receiving.

[Steve Covino]

An award, he doesn't go because what didn't mean anything to you? I get being with your family is a big deal, but you should be there for that moment.

[Rich]

Let me play devil's advocate. Do you want me to do Keanu.

[Steve Covino]

Or how do you feel about the guy that wins an award and doesn't go?

[Rich]

That thing is lame.

[Steve Covino]

Okay, then why would this be any different?

[Rich]

Let's say, hoo ha, devil's advocate. Let's say, yeah, Aaron Rodgers. And you think you're going at the top, and then you embarrassingly sit there pick after pick after pick. Didn't that else happen to who else? Was it like, there's another quarterback in recent years that was sitting there like a putz. You don't want to be that guy.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah, you don't want to be that guy, but you also don't want to be the guy who doesn't show up to receive his Academy Award because he's too cool for it. So on behalf of Jackson Dart, I say thank you.

[Rich]

I look at it this way as well. It's an opportunity to showcase your style. And I know that doesn't mean a lot to some, but what are they featuring? You're going to see this in the NBA playoffs this weekend. What are they going to show all pregame? The players walking in the tunnel and what they're wearing, Their quote unquote drip. Honestly, this could be like, look at that jacket. Look at those sneakers. Look at that. Style is a big part of the NBA in the NFL.

[Steve Covino]

I feel like you don't think there's.

[Rich]

An opportunity to be like, yo, look at my jewelry, look at my suit. I get to strut up there, hold up my jersey, bro, hug the commissioner. And it's. It's your first real introduction to the casual fan.

[Israel Gutierrez]

Johnny Manziel. Had to wait until 22.

[Rich]

You know, I was going to say Manziel, and then I'm like, I thought if I was wrong, you guys would make fun of me. Yeah, he had a way.

[Steve Covino]

We make fun of you no matter what, so you should have went for it.

[Israel Gutierrez]

One thing I've heard Covino, certain players say is, my dream forever has been to be up there on stage and giving Goodell a hug. Because that means they made it to the NFL.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah, it should be an honor. That's my point. And I feel like you're snubbing the honor. I know that's not the intention. The intention here is to spend it with your family. But here's what I have to say to that. I get it. Family's everything. And they got you to this point. Without their support, you'd be nothing. And you want to share that with them. But guess what? How about you go up there and receive this honor and then you celebrate with your family.

[Rich]

You could bring your mom.

[Steve Covino]

How about you could do both. How about you could go up there and do your thing and you could slap Goodell in the ass if you want and put the hat on and show your style and then leave and go party with your family? You know, no one's saying you can't party with your family. So for me, I just feel like you're being lazy about it and you're just choosing not to go.

[Rich]

Nothing, nothing makes me smile more than on draft night. When some of these moms who, you know, sacrifice so much for their kids and they see their son get drafted, it's a beautiful moment. And what's even a more beautiful moment is when some of those moms push away the scandalous girl that's hanging with their son. Like, this is not your moment.

[Steve Covino]

And I think you regret it, too. Man. How many people pass on big moments? Like, I mean, I know he didn't pass on it, but you always hear how Dwight Gooden didn't make the parade. Right? And just. You live with that the rest of your life.

[Rich]

There are so many New York Mets in 86 that were drugged out and allegedly drugged out.

[Steve Covino]

The guy the night before didn't go to his graduation. Rich, didn't you not walk? That's such a weird thing.

[Rich]

I don't regret it, though.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah, but I think you should, like, you accomplish something and you don't show up. To me, that's just. Well, then what was the point?

[Rich]

My program director told me.

[Steve Covino]

Because he told you he doesn't make it, right?

[Rich]

No, but it stuck in my head. He goes, you went to college to get a great job, right?

[Steve Covino]

I go, yeah, yeah. That's all him manipulating you.

[Rich]

He said, you're on the air in New York City. You got the best job. What are you gonna do? Do you need to go back? And I go, you know, I don't really feel like it.

[Steve Covino]

I think he just got in your head. I think that's a weak choice. I think you walk proudly and make your family. You do it for your family, man. They wanna see you succeed. They wanna see you walk. They wouldn't have went, some people don't walk. Some people don't go to their graduation. Some people don't show up to retrieve their award. For me, this is an honor that I think he'll regret missing out on because he could still party with his family. Don't give me the family stuff. And it's a lame ass look where you sit there with your jean shorts on like Brett Favre. Everyone's gonna criticize this stupid couch you're sitting on. They're like, that's the couch they have.

And we all get to judge their girlfriend or wife sitting next to them in the relationship between the mom, of course.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah. You're putting your family in an awkward spot too. Cause they're all sitting there in their Crocs.

[Israel Gutierrez]

[Rich]

Yes. And that cringy face his girlfriend's making. And I always remember CD Lamb. Remember, his girlfriend at the time was like, looking at his phone and stuff, and you're like, oh, this is. This is over.

It was his wife. Yeah, it was.

We always say that. I know it's his wife, but, you know, what do you do? You're looking at their decor and you're like, oh, they must shop at Ashley Furniture. Like, it's awkward. I don't like that. Go there and leave it up.

That was the only. The only benefit of the 2020 or 21 draft during COVID was I love getting a glimpse inside every coach's house at every draft. These house. I thought that was sort of cool. So here I am saying, you know, there's a little something fun about each.

[Steve Covino]

Got the camera in the living room. So funny. So I think it's an honor. I think. I think you go, Rich. I do. I think you go. But it seems to be more of a popular thing to not go.

[Rich]

I got to ask you legitimately, because.

[Steve Covino]

Apparently there's a bunch of names on the not attending list.

[Rich]

I am a huge NFL fan. In fact, my favorite sport. Love talking about it more than anything here on Fox Sports Radio. And I know we got the first round coverage during our special dollar shave. Club is sponsoring that. And on Thursday night after the first round, is it nerdy to watch?

I mean, just keep it on the background.

Meaning, like, I. If there's a player left on the board, there's intrigue to be like, oh, they slipped. When are they gonna go? But I feel like after round one.

No, day two is fun, Rich. I think it's when you get to the sixth, seventh round, and I'm still getting text messages from My older brother saying, see who they got in the six.

[Rich]

But I'm a Niners fan. But if you tell me the niners in the second round or third round with the pick, you know, 87 took and it's a guy I don't know. So I'm just going, oh, good, good.

[Steve Covino]

Here's the thing with me personally, I can't really get into other programming or like Black Mirror or White Lotus or whatever show until the sun is down anyway. I really can't. I can't focus on a show. I just can't get into that zone or into that mood. It's like sexy time. I can't get into that mood. And the sun's still out.

[Rich]

Wait, you only get it on with your girl during the night?

[Steve Covino]

I'm just saying I'm not in that vibe. Right. Respectfully. So like, to have that on in the background is perfectly fine. You don't have to be glued to that db.

I do think that the draft changes and obviously the schedule has changed because for years it was a two day event, Saturday and Sunday and the first, second and third rounds would be on the first day and then they'd have the rest of it. But I do think like the first two days, the Thursday and Friday are really about the players and the teams. And then I feel like four through seven are more about names in college that you kind of knew and guys that could be going unique places and different stories. And then looking back on the first three rounds, that's kind of how the coverage ends up going. Because it isn't pick for pick. They're not. They're just putting up graphics of people who are picked in the sixth and seventh round at that point. But hey, it's a different vibe.

[Rich]

It's also just great indicator that, hey, before you know it, a new football season will begin. Baseball's in full swing. NBA playoffs in full swing. And it's crazy to think by next week, by Thursday, does Aaron Rodgers have to make a decision? It's my daily. Aaron Rodgers mentioned. Mentioned. Danny, you could hit me later. By next week.

Yes. No, no. He's just straight up being disrespectful at that point. Yeah, you got to.

[Israel Gutierrez]

You know what else is fun to piggyback off of what DB was saying on the weekend. You get a lot of former players of the team coming up to read the pick and a lot of them smack talk. So they're going to be in great Green Bay. Right. So you're going to get a cowboy up there talking smack about how the Cowboys run the world and all that in all the booing and the back and forth. That's fun. I like when the ex players mix it up with the crowd.

Not that I remember. But yeah, it's a fun atmosphere. So I say you gotta go. That's my side of it. And you know, good luck and congrats to Jackson Dart and everybody else. Cove. I pointed out our seat, pointed it.

Out when we filled in for Dan Patrick earlier this week. I would say the NFL draft is top three things in our lifetime that have evolved to something completely different. And the top three, and if you think we're missing one top three, if you, if you're a kid of the 80s and 90s, let's say you're roughly 40ish years old in our lifetime, top three, the NFL draft, which went from a bunch of people in a boardroom with landlines with the, you know, 80s wood paneling, walls and cigars and cigarettes. Like, yeah, who are you taking the first round? Oh, who the Bears taking?

[Steve Covino]

It's like a little League draft.

[Rich]

Honestly, it looked like the Little League draft where a couple dads get together.

[Steve Covino]

It went from that to, I'll take Bobby McMillan.

[Rich]

Wait, he's, he's turning six or seven.

[Steve Covino]

He's seven, but his mom's hot. I got Bobby.

[Rich]

Okay. That's how it was. And now you pick a city, it gives a little boom to the economy. Hundred thousand people go to check it out. Fans and lights and cameras go to Detroit.

Like both days it was like 200,000.

But I do want to ask you one thing, Kavino. I saw you're a big fight fan.

And there's speculation about Jake Paul.

I mean, in today's world, you never know, right? I mean, we saw all these women go into outer space this week, and people are saying it didn't happen. So I don't know what to believe.

But there is a rumor, slash official word that Jake Paul's next opponent is.

Who is Julio Cesar Chavez. How old is that? Not the father, the junior, not the dad, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Who's 39 years old, I believe. I'm surprised to see he's 39.

[Rich]

Didn't you say that he was.

[Steve Covino]

Saturday. Now I'll explain. Yeah, all right. He. It's going to go down at the Honda center in ANAHEIM, CA, Saturday, June 28th on Disown Pay Per View. So MVP Promotions, which is Jake Paul and Golden Boy De La Hoya, joined forces to make this fight happen. And you have to remember, Chavez Jr. Does have a bad reputation, but he's a former champion who's battled Sergio Martinez. That was a battle. Didn't get KO'd by Canelo. Some people say he lost every round, but, you know, he showed up out of shape. And that's the criticism. The criticism with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Is that he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His dad, legendary fighter, fought his way to the top. His son, sort of lazy, but he has a good jaw and he's a strong puncher. And when he's committed and he's not so on the weed when he's not smoking and out of shape, he's actually a really tough fighter. And he's a tall, big dude, so I don't know what weight they're fighting at, but he'd have to beef up a little bit, hoping that he comes in shape because he could beat Jake Paul, no doubt.

[Rich]

Well, I look at Julio Cesar Chavez, like you said, he's 39.

[Steve Covino]

He's 54, 6 and 1 career.

[Rich]

He. He's. I was gonna say he's had 62 fights. So the, the kids fought a lot.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah. And Jake Paul's 11 and 1. So again, the only criticism here is, is that Chavez Jr. Hasn't fought in a minute, and he's known for being lazy. If. And it's a big if. If he shows up in shape. Jake Paul's got his hands full with this dude. And by the way, you know how much pride is On a lot. You think Chavez Jr. Wants to show up with that legendary name in front of all these Mexican fans? And it's more. It's kind of a cultural thing too, because he represents Chavez's dad in Mexico, right?

[Rich]

Yeah.

[Steve Covino]

And Jake Paul, they call him El Gallo. Jake Paul, he's got that Puerto Rican backing because he's lives in Puerto Rico. Well, he lives in Puerto Rico now, and there's that rivalry there between Puerto Rico because they embrace him and Mexico. So there's gonna be a lot of fans excited about this fight. I'm Team Chavez Jr. If he's in shape, I wonder if.

[Rich]

I'm excited about this. I haven't made up my mind because at first I thought it was senior, and I'm like, he's gonna fight an old man?

[Steve Covino]

No, he's fighting again. A bonaf champion who had tons of potential and a guy who just got in his own way for being lazy. I mean, he sounds like another sham to me.

[Rich]

He fought Uriah Hall a year ago.

[Steve Covino]

Sham.

[Rich]

He fought Canelo.

[Steve Covino]

He fought Sergio Martinez. You know, Chavez Jr. Fought a lot of big names. Well, keep in mind, he's a big name.

[Rich]

Keep in mind he lost to Canelo Alvarez. Yeah, he went the distance with Canelo. So this favors Cesar Chavez Jr. But that was in 2017, and a lot happens in eight years.

[Steve Covino]

So Jake Paul's active and, you know, training all the time. He's a big dude.

[Rich]

I'm looking at his, you know, fight history. He's fought. He's fought some good fighters, but again, this is a long time ago. At one point, Cesar Chavez Jr. Was 40, and, oh, and then the wheel sort of fell off a little bit. And, you know, we'll see what happens. But if you're a fight fan, Jake Paul, official Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. In June.

Stop picking old guys. He's not that old, but still, he's older. I mean, you thought it was his dad.

Guard John Morant is expected to play tonight against Dallas. He received injections in his injured ankle on Thursday, didn't practice, then is officially listed as a game time decision, but ESPN reports Morant has told people around him that he expects to play this evening. The Lakers have given general manager Rob Pelinka a contract extension and a promotion. He's now the Lakers president of basketball operations, while San Antonio spurs said coach Gregg Popovich is at home and resting after he was taken to a local hospital on Tuesday after an incident at a restaurant, according to espn. Speaking of hospitals, Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani not with the team in Texas. Don't worry though, he's going to miss the start of their series at the Rangers. Ohtani stayed in California awaiting the birth of his first child. Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm was suspended one game for violating Major League Baseball social media policy with a post that he made on X soon after he was ejected in their game against the Rays. Chisholm is appealing that one game back Cubs outscored the Diamondbacks 13 to 11. Cubs blew a 71 lead. We're down 117 in the 8th and then scored 6 in the bottom half of the inning. Crazy day at Wrigley with the wind blowing out Carson Kelly homer twice for Chicago, Ian Happ at a grand slam. Eugenio Suarez had a grand slam for Arizona, but the cubs win today. 13:11. Justin Thomas leads the RBC Heritage at 12 under par after two rounds of play and former Ole Miss quarterback Jackson Dart, something you guys talked about along with former Georgia Edge rusher Mikel Williams will not be attending the NFL draft next week. It's a holiday weekend. Happy Easter. You got to make time for some of this. Happy Passover. I got to finish Black Mirror. It's been out for a few minutes, but here's what I've learned so far. Black Mirror is available on Netflix. It's like the modern day Twilight Zone. Black Mirror meaning like your phone. Technology. How technology gets in the way of our lives.

Skip three and then continue on with four. Black Mirror. Ryan Coogler's the Sinners comes out this weekend, and they're saying it's going to rival Minecraft. They're wondering, is it gonna be number one in the theaters this weekend?

Yeah, it's that. It's that. Or like, is that Minecraft? That's Michael b. Jordan and Mrs. Josh Allen soon enough. Hallee Steinfeld.

Yeah, but Coogler's teaming up. Coogler's known for directing Black Panther and Creed. This time, the Sinners reunited with Michael B. Jordan again. So the Sinners weekend is bound to be a big one. The Diamond Heist trending on Netflix and the Life list, a movie also on Netflix with Sophia Carson I think is worth watching. And my kids are really into Sonic right now. And you can now stream the third one on Peacock. So Sonic 3. So that's gonna be exciting. And Danny G, I know you got all the times for the NBA games. I think the one to keep your eye on Obviously besides the LC Sunday 6:30 out here on the west side. That's the Warriors Rockets game.
