Now let's get this party started.
Colin Cowherd
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Here we go. It's hour two. Show's just starting. Live in Los Angeles. It's the Herd. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening, thanks for making us part of your day. By the way we put it up did we put it up? On my social media. Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum, who do you want? I have said this. You've got to be fair in our business. For years, I said about Anthony Davis, dad bod doesn't train enough. He had a reputation as soft, wouldn't play through injuries. Two years ago, something happened. Whether it was diet, physical training, Barkley banging on him, calling him street clothes. The dude has given us two great years as a top five player. I think he's the best defensive player in the NBA. He's one of the few guys that makes Jokic work for it. And so we'll get updates on the poll. You have been telling me for years Jayson Tatum is the man. And my takeaway is then why in the Eastern Conference finals, in the finals is Jaylen Brown getting mvp?
J. Mac
He got the mvp, but who led them in points, rebounds and assists in the playoffs? Jayson Tatum, my guy. He's a top five player in the league fo show. I don't think there's any doubt about that except from the guy I'm sitting across from.
Colin Cowherd
Okay, I like Jason Tatum.
J. Mac
Sure you do. Sure sound like you do.
Colin Cowherd
Okay. So I said I thought this was so crazy. The Friday news dump by the Cowboys and then they had the press conference yesterday. Our radio audience won't be able to see the air quotes by Stephen Jones. But just watch this again.
Greg Olson
Obviously, we're also evaluating where it didn't go right. You know, in terms of, you know, this drought that people say we're in.
Colin Cowherd
In terms of a championship game or a Super Bowl. It's 29 years. There's no reason for air quotes. What they say is a drought. I'll put the last NFC championship appearance on the screen just in the NFC, 29 years. And then Jerry had another sound bite and I'm not sure the point he was trying to make if you don't think I can't operate out of my comfort zone, you're so wrong. It's unbelievable. This is as big a risk as you could take. No head coaching experience. Yes, that's what the critics are saying. This is a huge risk. No coaching experience. I think Jerry is validating his critics. And with that, Nick Wright. First things first. Let's talk about more positive things. Let's talk about winners. So yesterday I didn't buy into the official thing. One of the things and I talked about because I know you're a great poker player and I said Spags and Andy Reid once again in a matchup against Buffalo are better poker players. They say if they go all in on one or two hands, they always know when to do it. And I said, what drove me crazy about Buffalo is when you go to one of these final tables, you got to save your best. You got to bluff and save your best. The Josh Allen Tush pushes drove me crazy. Now they tell it. They told you basically early in the game, this is what we're going to do every single play on 4th and 1. Did you feel the same?
Greg Olson
I felt a lot of things. First of all, credit to you, Colin. You called this one early. The Buffalo Bills still the Chiefs without the trophies. Maybe always will be the Chiefs without the trophies. And we can get to your analysis of the game. I would be remiss to not acknowledge you and J. Mac's analysis before the game. Why don't you just pick the team that always wins to win? It would be easy. I understand J. Mac. J. Mac has dug the hole too deep. He's just like, kansas City's gonna hate me forever anyway, so I'll just triple down on it every year. Eventually I'll be right and I'll be able to declare victory. You, Colin, could just be right. Just be like ah, Mahomes and Reed. I'll just go with them. But so maybe next year. Maybe when they're going for the four Pete. We'll see. Now your point about the QB sneaks was a great one, I thought. Your point? I hadn't thought about it. From the perspective of Jalen, hurts a little undersized. Josh Allen a little. Not oversized but real big. That it makes it almost harder for Jalen to get a bad spot than Josh.
Colin Cowherd
Right.
Greg Olson
Like so. All of that's good. But I think there is a bigger point that you're kind of making. But it's the one I was hammering all year and it's why I found the chief's skepticism so absurd all year. How many times do they have to show you that they are saving their best stuff for the biggest moment? Yeah, how many times do the Chiefs have to show you that they will use games during the year? How many during the season? You know what? We saw a lot of Man Mahomes and Xavier Worthy not quite on the same page. He can't get his feet down. He can't track the ball. They practiced it in games again and again and again and then they hit it in a huge spot during the first matchup with the Bills. Mahomes 0 rushes during the playoff game against the Bills, a career high in rushes. Contrast that, Colin this is where I'll bring it to the to the tush push stuff to the Bills approach. The Bills tush push this season was, from a statistical perspective, more effective than even the Eagles tush push.
Colin Cowherd
Yes. Yes.
Greg Olson
The Bills found something that worked, Colin, and just like, okay, this is what we do. Are we going to work on something new? Nope. We're just going to go thing that works. Are we going to have an alternative? Nope, we're just going to go to the things that works. Are we going to no, we're just going to put it on tape two dozen times doing it the exact same way because it's so effective in the regular season and then in the playoffs. Two things have happened. One, you have given the Chiefs an hour's worth of film on exactly how you run your critical play. And two, you don't have an alternative because you've just been doing the thing that works. And so it is. I just really hope people learn from this season that on certain teams they can't be evaluated by point differential or by explosive performances because they are actually planning for Game 20 during Game 7. And certain other teams are treating every game like the super bowl, which is great until. And of course you are playing a game to get to the super bowl and you don't have another gear.
Colin Cowherd
So I defended Josh Allen. He had a bad first drive. I don't think he had the better coach or the better coordinator. I thought the best head coach and best coordinator were on the other team. Kincaid should have caught the ball. They didn't call a single play for James Cook in the final drive. Inexplicable to me. So I did feel like, I mean, even on the tush push, Josh did everything he could. I mean, the truth is the fact that he got the ball off on that final play to Kincaid, it's a remarkably athletic play that he even got it off even if he threw it to the wrong guy. But I didn't put a lot of the onus on Josh, do you?
Greg Olson
So I think, I think we might find a common ground here.
Colin Cowherd
Colin.
Greg Olson
I think Josh did everything he could have on the final play while also coming up very short on the final drive. The fourth and five was dead on arrival when they misidentified the blitz. Now maybe that's on Josh, maybe not. It seems like the former offensive lineman, quarterback and you know football. All 22 folks are in an Internet war about that play and I'm staying out of it. I'm like, I don't know guys, I probably would have missed the blitz or two. You guys figure that out. Once that free runner was in Josh's face on 4th and 5, he made as good of a play as you can make. I don't think it's fair to say Kinkage should have caught it. I would say he could have caught it. So that part I agree with. But the flip side to that coin is this, Colin. 333 left, all three timeouts, down three points. Biggest drive your life. Six plays, 17 yards. That's not great. It's just not great.
Colin Cowherd
That's right.
Greg Olson
We can talk about this is about Mahomes greatness. Josh was in a position that I as a Chiefs fan, it's the worst feeling there is, which it's like, oh my God, Patrick might not get the ball back, right. They have the like you're in a spot where Patrick might not get last licks and for Josh to go into that and they get the first down on his scramble and then first and 10, he has the worst throw he's had all game since the opening. Two throws over Shakir's head. Second and 10, he dirts one essentially to Curtis Samuel. Now you're in third and 10, which set the table for fourth and five. And now again, I think he's the second best quarterback in football. I also think if we are being fair, two years in a row he has had the ball in his hands. Down three points in a game. He was either favored in at home or it was basically a pick emergency in a spot that he can go win. And last year, first and 10 or second and nine, he misses the guy. Third and nine, he gets rushed. Fourth down, they missed the field goal, but still it would have been Mahomes. Well, the minute 40 left and yesterday 333 left, three timeouts down three points on the 30 yard line to get 17 yards out of that Drive is a miss. And the flip side to it is Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs had a more successful, far more successful drive trying to run the clock out than the Bills had trying to save their season. So I'm not killing him for it, but if you want to beat a legend, you have to have a legendary moment, and he didn't.
Colin Cowherd
So it's interesting. Let's say Mahomes wins his third in a row. So Bill Russell had 11 titles by the time Michael got to three. Forget sex. There was an understanding. We're looking at the greatest player of all time. There was a sense that they put.
Greg Olson
It on his statue.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Greg Olson
It's engraved. Yeah. After three titles, he retired. Said the greatest there ever was, the greatest there ever will be. Nobody was like, but Magic's got five. Yeah, exactly. Go right.
Colin Cowherd
And so Ohtani, even with the Angels, he didn't have to have Babe Ruth's entire career. We're like, yeah, that's better than Babe Ruth because we have eyes and we're reasonable. Right.
Greg Olson
Like, it's saying that.
Colin Cowherd
It's like, yeah, I don't know that.
Greg Olson
Otani being better than Babe Ruth is a universally held opinion, but I like that you are trying to move the Overton window to, hey, I said it now. Everyone agrees. I love the take, but I don't know that that is, you know, the consensus. But go ahead. I'm with you on this.
Colin Cowherd
So Tom's got the most hardware. But there is. And by the way, for years and years, Montana had more than Tom. But there was a feeling the minute Tom won his fourth, we were like, yeah, it's. It's. It's. But it. Football's weird.
Greg Olson
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
Because in football, it really comes down to, like, you know, we're just going to look at. Tom's hardware's insane. And nobody's saying Tom's less, but there is something about Jordan's game against Russell. And you're just like, yeah, I've never seen anything like that. And I've been watching basketball 50 years. Mahomes is doing stuff where, I mean, whether he's manipulating officials, throwing with his left hand, it just looks crazy. If he wins a third straight, do you think the discussions will begin? Okay, forget numbers. That's the best quarterback ever.
Greg Olson
So definitively, the discussions will begin. Now, let me say something in just the. I'm obviously a Mahomes guy, right? Let me say what Patrick, I know for a fact would say about this exact topic right now. Now, if he wins another one, maybe it changes. He Would say the hard part is going to be that Tom beat me in a Super Bowl. And that in the. Where the Russell Jordan thing falls a little flat is they did, in fairness, play twice in the postseason, and Tom won both.
Colin Cowherd
Yep.
Greg Olson
Now, one of them, you know, Patrick drove him down the field, tied the game, never got the ball in overtime. But the, you know, the league who rigs everything for the Chiefs didn't change the rules based on that overtime. They only changed the rules when the Chiefs did that to the Bills. Of course, just remember so that that's a fair point. And folks be like, they played and he won. It also is crazy that if you just change one result, say if you like, change the Tampa Chiefs super bowl, change one football game changer, and all of a sudden, instead of right now, it's seven to three, it's six to four with Patrick going for five, and it's like, well, this thing's over already. But those results didn't change. He won those games. The flip side is the guy has been the best player in the league since the first game he played, and we've never seen that before. He's never had a down year. He's never had a down season. The worst year of his career. They win 12, 13 games. They lose an overtime of the conference championship game. The idea that if we want to treat his first season like his learning year, he. 5,000 yards, 50 touchdowns, overtime against the goat in the AFC title game. He has played six years since then. They have been to five Super Bowls.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Greg Olson
Five Super Bowls in six years, and they've won three. We'll see if they win four. So. And if you pull off the three Pete, then you do have something. Not only that Tom doesn't have, that no one else ever has. So here's what I would say. I think he's the best player ever.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Greg Olson
I think Tom is the greatest of all time. I look at those two different things, okay? One is more about talent and ability, and one is more about accomplishment. If Patrick were to pull off a three peat, I not only do I no longer think he has to get to 8, I don't think he has to get to 7 for it to be a consensus opinion.
Colin Cowherd
Okay?
Greg Olson
I think if Patrick pulls off a three peat and gets six rings and it's. Then it's like, okay, he's just the greatest we've ever seen. And I will say this. Here is the other stunning piece of it. Colin Patrick just played in his seventh conference championship game. He's 29 years old. Tom Brady did not play in his seventh until he was 35. Yeah, so when people are talking about, will Patrick play long enough to catch Tom on the ring stuff, he might not have to because there was that drought for Tom, as great as he was in the middle. And I don't see that drought ever coming for Patrick. A 10 year, zero Super bowl drought seems unfathomable given what we've seen from this player.
Colin Cowherd
Now, in defense of Brady, whereas Mahomes got Andy Reid, Montana got Bill Walsh, Tom had to deal with, you know, Belichick, who thinks Matt Patricia is an oc. I won't go.
Greg Olson
I mean, okay, again, I'm not going to again. You're putting me in. It's like, hey, Nick, want to come on the network's best show and, you know, try to tear down a bit the network's biggest employee? Not what I'm trying to do. However, if you're going to go after Belichick, I am going to remind everyone that first Super Bowl, I think they scored the whole playoff run, three offensive touchdowns, and the defense was pretty good. And so we can say he didn't have an offensive mastermind. But that 01 season, you know, they did win some playoff games without getting to 20 points. The defense that Belichick I think had some hand in was probably a little helpful. Okay, maybe a little.
Colin Cowherd
Okay, we're going to have a final question. So we posed this earlier. I have never. I think Jason Tatum's an excellent player, but I never bought into the top five guy in the league stuff. I said their game. I said this three years ago. Their games. I think Jaylen Brown wants the ball more. In fact, I think they move Marcus Smart out of town because he was taking the ball to Jayson Tatum's hands. Jordan wouldn't allow that. The late Kobe wouldn't allow that. So I said this. I didn't love Anthony Davis early career. I thought he was soft. I didn't think he played through injuries. I didn't think he was in the greatest shape. The last two to two and a half years, he's been the best defensive player. He's a dominating force. You really can't defend him when he, when he plays the way he wants to play, which is a big four, it's virtually impossible, maybe not Jokic level, to defend. So I said today he had another monster night. Unbelievable. And I said, if you're asking me today who the better player is, especially now for the next three to four or five years, I'm like, oh, I think It's Anthony Davis. J. Mack is a Jayson Tatum guy. So I think he is much more intimidating defensively from rebounding. I think he is a dominant 12ft in player. And the other thing is I never when I turn a game on. I always said this about LeBron. You just. Your eyes go to Anthony Davis immediately. He is on the floor. There are offensive possessions in the playoffs for Jayson Tatum. I'm not sure playing who's a better player today.
Greg Olson
Well, gosh darn. I didn't. This is what a question. Because it is. Here's the thing. Top five or not. What is definitively true and you are right about is in the Jokic, Giannis, Luka tier. Tatum is not now is Shea in that tier now? Maybe. And so call that four guys. I know Luka's hurt. And then there's a real debate who would be next. I. I would rather have Anthony Davis.
Colin Cowherd
Boom.
Greg Olson
Because I Now listen, I want to be fair here. I think that I will know. I'm trying to just be totally honest about it.
Colin Cowherd
I.
Greg Olson
They.
Colin Cowherd
Listen.
Greg Olson
They both have performed excellent on deep playoff runs.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Greg Olson
You know what I mean. They. I understand Tatum wasn't great in last year's Finals, but he was fine like they. And they won easily. I think that, let me put it like this. I think that Anthony Davis at his best is better. If you told me, I know I'm hemming and hawing, but I want to give you a real answer. The best of Anthony Davis is better than the best of Jason Tate. Yes, I do think Jayson Tatum over the course of a season probably adds a little more impact than AD has shown over the course of the breadth and width of his career. But AD when he is locked in. Because I agree with your first point. I think Anthony Davis is the best defensive player in the league and it's a crime he's never won defensive player of the year. So when you're. You get that from him basically every night. When you add to it, he can do this type of stuff. Offensively, he hasn't really fully unlocked it the way you would have hoped. I get it. It's probably a little disrespectful to Tatum, but you don't mind, you know, flirting with a little Tatum disrespect. And I respect that from you. And so yeah, I mean, let me put it like this. Do I think last year if you switched them put Tatum on the Lakers and Anthony Davis on the Celtics, do I think the Lakers go further in the playoffs? Obviously not. Do I think the Celtics all of a sudden don't win a championship. Obviously not. And this year, when the Celtics have, I think, real competition, do I think they might be better because of how they're built with Anthony Davis instead of Jason Tatum? I think there's an argument there. I think that you're also going to get. Man, people in Boston already, like, they had kind of given me a break for a bit. Now you've got me back on this Tatum stuff with you. I don't need to drown on the ship with you. I don't know why you're pulling me into it.
Colin Cowherd
I. I'm one of them. Just feels so. If you told me I have a series, seven game series, I'm taking Anthony Davis, I don't know, about five years, 10 years, I got a seven game series. And you know who's going to be in that seven game series is going to be a. A Jokic is a Giannis.
Greg Olson
And it's like, oh, well, that's a, that's a whole nother thing. If we're talking about, like if we're trying to get through the people you have to get through. I understand that you're swaying me more and more, but again, I haven't. I got to tell you something, Colin. I'm on such a chief sugar high, I couldn't. I mean, you might as well just ask me about badminton. I haven't thought about the Lakers in a week. Like, I just. I mean, I. I'll tell you what I have done. Rewatched that game three times. Oh my God. Oh, the calls, the calls. How about the phantom DPI on the Chiefs that nobody cares about. I mean, give me. Everybody can. I gotta say one thing to you. Yeah, but just because it's a big platform. Your show. Fellow members of the media, please stop letting the tail wag the dog. It is not supposed to be that we in members of mainstream media scroll the algorithm bastardized for you tab and be like, well, this is what people are talking about. And therefore we talk about it. It's supposed to be the other way around. We set the conversation. So this whole idea of we have no choice but to talk about the officiating after the AFC championship game. Why? Because Dov Kleiman and ML Football, who aren't real people, populated your Twitter feed with it. Grow up, everybody.
Colin Cowherd
I agree.
Greg Olson
Not you, Colin. You've done a good job.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, I agree. I don't, I don't believe in luck. I think Kansas City situationally, circumstantially, is the best football team, which New England was for 20 years, and Kansas City grabbed the baton and now they're doing it for the foreseeable future. Nick Wright, first things first as always, buddy. Great seeing you.
Greg Olson
See you buddy.
Colin Cowherd
Through forgot got him off balance on that 80. Jayson Tatum what's our poll say?
J. Mac
So Wes, our social media maven just posted it. There's not many votes, you know, a little under 1300 votes. Anthony Davis polling at 20%, Jason Tatum at 79.8%.

Colin Cowherd
You know what that is. East coast people drinking early in the morning. West coast people aren't up yet.

Greg Olson
No, no, no. Turn on the news.
Colin Cowherd
This is the Herd line news.
J. Mac
All right, Cohen, let's start Colin with Liam Cohen, who became the first NFL coordinator in at least the past 25 years to average more than 28 points per game, average more than 6 yards per play. I mean, basically, the Tampa offense was incredible.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
J. Mac
Now he's in Jacksonville with Trevor Lawrence. Now, I will say Cohen had a bit of an awkward press conference. I know you're big on these. Here is Cohen excitedly talking about his new qb.
Colin Cowherd
How do we make Trevor Lawrence in this offense as dynamic and explosive as we can be? Right? We've got to build it around him as well. Right? We've got to make every part of this about improvement. And he will be a Part of that process. He's earned that right. I cannot respect his toughness and mentality and work ethic more than I do already from afar. And this will all, this will all be about Trevor right now. And people don't like that.
J. Mac
Well, no, we were saving the best for this moment. So we have this clip. There's this saying in Jacksonville, duvall, Duvall County.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
J. Mac
And here's Liam Cohen for some reason shouting, duvall.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, boy. What? Duval. Yeah. No, people didn't like that.
J. Mac
I don't know, man.
Colin Cowherd
I'm going to give all head coach all these first time I saw Nick Ceriani wear a jersey Sunday.
J. Mac
Whoa, wait a minute. Wait.
Colin Cowherd
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
J. Mac
He's going to the Super Bowl. This is. Hello, I'm your new coach. Duvall. Like, it's just goofy. I don't know.
Colin Cowherd
Sirianni is not good at the podium.
J. Mac
He's not. I, I, I think, here's the thing. I think Colin will be successful in Jacksonville. He's got Trevor Lawrence. I, I'm surprised at how many people have bailed on Trevor Lawrence already.
Colin Cowherd
It's like, well, I, he, I think, I don't know if people are bailing, but people are watching the games and they don't see him elevated. Greg Cosell's never been a big fan. I've been on Greg and I rarely disagree on quarterbacks. He and I are on opposite sides or close to it. On Trevor Lawrence, I like him. He's not as big a fan. All right.
J. Mac
Over under 1/2 Super bowl trip for Trevor Lawrence in his career. So he'll never make the Super Bowl.
Colin Cowherd
No. Doesn't mean he can't win playoff game. If his next six years, he wins five playoff games for this franchise and this thing with Liam Cohen works, I think you have to say it's a successful career.
J. Mac
So you don't think Trevor Lawrence will make a Super Bowl?
Colin Cowherd
I think what's happened is since he got into the league, the quarterback play is getting better and better and better.
Greg Olson
I mean, God, look at this.
Colin Cowherd
Lee. This year, Caleb, Jaden, Bonix, Penix, McCarthy, Drake, May. We could have six guys. That all worked. There's the Vero Herbertua class with Hertz. We're getting these classes now on a regular basis every three years where like four or five guys can play.
J. Mac
You know, you know the Warren Buffett, Buffett saying, when everybody's running away, you should run in like running back jumping.
Colin Cowherd
You and I, you and I running backs. Everybody ran away running back. So you and I were like, no, no, no, no, no, no. Remember when everybody was selling running backs and we're like no, running backs are more valuable big picture long term to a quarterback than a receiver that goes against what you think receivers, a best friend. No, dog's a man's best friend. Running backs a quarterback's best friend.
J. Mac
I'm buying Trevor Lawrence stock. Next story. Colin is the Vegas Raiders. You know they were one of the big winners. Y coach Pete Carroll had a normal press conference. He was not weird. This guy's been around the block. 73 years old, talked about his relationship with new Raiders GM John Spitek.
Colin Cowherd
I think it's a perfect mesh opportunity for us to show you how important it is for this relationship to be at the tip of the spear for our program. His background, his mentality, his devotion to character and football and the game and have a respect for what it takes to make this thing strong and right has just hit me right in my heart. Yeah, I think Spy Tech comes from Jason Light. You know I'm a huge fan of the Buccaneers gm. He's. He has been his right hand man for many years and he was part of. I mean Tampa's had a ton of good drafts. I think Spy Tech and Pete are. That's about. I kind of felt like the Raiders have been kind of just Hammond egging it for years. They don't quite have it right. This is to me easily GM coach. This is the best job Mark Davis has done. Like I like telescope but Antonio Pierce, I'm like interim coach. I'm not sure this is winning coach. Excellent GM prospect out of a very good drafting team. Worked under one of the shrewdest best drafters in the league the last 10 years. 10 years. I like it a lot.
J. Mac
Who is their quarterback? Week one, 2025.
Colin Cowherd
Well, I told you I would go Kirk Cousins for a year. I would. I would. If I would draft Shador Sanders if available. Probably won't be. I would go get the. The Raiders have 10 picks and a lot of cap space. I would get Kirk Cousins for a year and then I would draft if I could either a Jackson dart or a Kyle McCord, give it a run for a year behind Kirk Cousins, see what it looks like. And then next year's draft quarterback draft class is much better. And if a year in the backup doesn't look the part, then you go draft the position again.
J. Mac
Justin Fields if he hits.
Colin Cowherd
No, I'm not interested.
J. Mac
Sam Darnold, I would.
Colin Cowherd
Or Cousins. Well, no, Darnold's better than Cousins but I Don't want to get locked in four years with Sam. So I'm telling my take is go draft with your second pick first pick, go get a weapon second pick. If you're the Raiders, go get again. There's a. I don't think Riley Leonard is a second round pick. He's more fourth. Will Howard I talked is his more fifth.
J. Mac
I think Jackson dart, Jalen Milroad do anything.
Colin Cowherd
He won't be available. He could be if he's available in the Raiders second pick. Maybe that's the guy.
J. Mac
Okay, now I mentioned Justin Fields because our final story is about the Steelers and you know, disappointing end of the season despite an awesome start. Owner Art Rock Rooney II said yesterday he'd like to resign either either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields. When asked about head coach Mike Tomlin, Rooney said, when you look at how many games Mike has won in this league, you don't win that many games if you're not a good coach. And I know he's frustrated like we all are in terms of not being able to take that next step, but we still feel good about him being the leader and still think he has the strengths that he always had in terms of being able to lead a team. One of our producers here had a good take that, you know, the Cowboys are starting to kind of fail to the bottom. They're headed down, down, down. And are the Pittsburgh Steelers going to be the new Cowboys just headed down because they can't figure out quarterback and they're investing in defense again.
Colin Cowherd
If, if Cleveland lands Shadour Sanders, who is a pocket quarterback with Kevin Stefanski, who is a pocket coach quarterback more than he is a mobile quarterback, then I think, I think that's trouble.
J. Mac
Steelers have the worst quarterback in the division again.
Colin Cowherd
I don't want to make it sound like Russell and Justin can't play. I've told you, we're renaming this franchise the Pittsburgh Stalers. They are stale. They continue to lead the NFL year after year. Next year will be year number four in a row in succession. Most money paid to defensive players. That is not winning playoff games.
J. Mac
Okay, how's this? I had floated the idea of trading T.J. watt last offseason.
Colin Cowherd
I think that's a smart move and they're outraged by that.
J. Mac
Yeah, well, it looked bad for like 10 weeks and then it started to look smart at the end of the season. I'm just curious, do you revisit that? Do you say, hey, if you're drafting second, whoever you are, T.J. watt. Can I interest you in Watt and.
Colin Cowherd
Some think about this. You're in a division with Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson and you don't think it's viable to trade a couple of first round picks, a TJ Watt, maybe throw in George Pickens if he drives you nuts to go get Shadour. What's crazy is not taking the swing.
J. Mac
Or running it back with Russell.
Colin Cowherd
Pittsburgh's too good to get a top 10 pick, so you're going to have to at some point Pittsburgh is going to be too good. They'll win eight, nine games, 10 games. You're too good to get a top eight pick. So what does that mean? You're going to have to at some point give stuff up. And so to me, it's crazy not to consider moving TJ Watt a couple of firsts. And again, if I had to throw in George Pickens, the Steelers draft wide receivers and pass rushers as well as anybod in the sport.
J. Mac
And remember Baltimore got Lamar at I believe 32nd in the first round. So maybe you don't have to go up. If the Steelers think that they can build something with Jalen Milroe.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, I mean maybe next year's draft is so good. I mean maybe the Steelers go up. Jalen Milroe may be the answer. But the idea that it's ludicrous to consider moving off a great defensive player and first round picks to get quarterback solved. If you let the Browns, if the Browns get either Cam Ward or Shador Sanders and they're both, both capable of, they're both franchise quarterbacks, I think then you're the only franchise go Lamar Shadour.
J. Mac
Joe Burrow, not to mention Herbert Mahomes, Alan like that C.J. stroud, Trevor Lawrence.
Colin Cowherd
I will tell you this. Sam Darnold to the Colts to me is a perfect fit.
J. Mac
But yeah, if you don't have a quarterback right now, it's just like what do we. And it's tough to find them. It's you just have no chance sense really.
Colin Cowherd
Isn't it funny that it's met with outrage when you consider saying, listen, you guys will find pass rushers. You can't pay a fortune for a safety.
J. Mac
He's going to the hall of Fame, obviously, and nobody questions that. But you know, Aaron Donald leaves, right? Hall of Famer, all time great Jared Verse comes in is like, oh my gosh, what do we have here?
Colin Cowherd

Check out our new season of Next Question with me, Katie Couric, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Colin Cowherd
You know, it's interesting. As I watch the Chiefs, I feel like when I watch the Patriots or. Or it was the Michael Jordan Bulls, the part of me is in awe of the spectacle of greatness. And you don't get a lot of dynasties. Kyle Van Noy, 11 years, two Super bowl championships, is now a Raven had an excellent year. So let me ask you, Kyle, when you watch Kansas City, I know their arrival, does it drive you crazy or is part of you saying, listen, man, I've been. I've been in that chair. I've won those close games with Tom. How do you view it?
Kyle Van Noy
You know, I get really excited, honestly, just because you Know to beat the best, you gotta be, you got to be the best. You got to beat them like it's plain and simple. If you're trying to end something, you need to beat them. Part of me hates them, part of me respects them. You got to respect what they're doing. Andy Reid at the helm with Patrick Mahomes. They've been a great team. I think it's been the three headed monster with Kelsey Mahomes and Chris Jones, those three sticking together and then you can put anybody around them and they seem to figure it out either defensively with Spags and Chris Jones or offensively, doesn't even matter who the offensive coordinator as long as Andy Reid's there with Patrick Mahomes. And you know what's impressive to me is just the, the amount of games they've won that are just one score, games it's gone on all season and that's what championship teams do. I've been a part of that where it seems like in the fourth quarter teams start to shrink and shrivel away and they've done a good job of sticking to the plan. Nobody gets nervous because they know 15 is going to bail them out if it comes to that. And then it seems like on defense they're always going to get that stop. So they got an awesome thing going and hopefully the Eagles take advantage in the super bowl somehow and win.
Colin Cowherd
You tell me again, you've been on a dynasty. Now you're watching the Chiefs. How do the Eagles match up now? It's a green wall of talent, Kyle. They got nothing but dudes everywhere. How do they match up?
Kyle Van Noy
You know, I look at it this matchup and I think they match up really well. Both teams can go strength on strength. You have the Kansas City Chiefs who methodically have driven the ball down, down the field and have come away with touchdowns. I think they're one of the top teams with the longest play drives for touchdown ratio. I believe the Eagles are the best team defending that. So them, you know, not getting beat over the top, not getting beat with big plays. You're going to have to drive this length of the field against the Eagles defensively and they match up really well because they tighten up in the, in the red area. Now offensively, the Chiefs, to me, they struggle a little bit against the run. They perform, you know, well when it matters. But Saquon's a different beast. I don't think they faced an O line like they have with the the Eagles and then what's going to come down as the X Factor to me is Jalen hurts. Is he going to be able to make the throws when he needs to, and I believe he can. I think him and A.J. brown got into a little rhythm last week. You saw that fourth down conversion with the go ball. It's not my favorite thing to do, but when you have A.J. brown, a true number one, it's a good decision. He came down with it and then he had a touchdown in the game. I felt that chemistry really helped them and hopefully it'll gain traction going into this last game.
Colin Cowherd
Final question. One of my favorite guys, Kyle Van Noe. You got a couple minutes here. Listen, Lamar is great. I'm his biggest fan. The reality is when Tiger was in his prime, nobody was beating him. That's just the reality of it. What do the Ravens do to get to that next level? You're close. I love Lamar. It was a bad day for Mark Andrews. It happens. What is the vibe in Baltimore today after another gutting playoff loss? Kyle?
Kyle Van Noy
Yeah, I love Lamar too. And I'm sure he appreciates you being one of his biggest fans, especially with the amount of people that aren't for whatever reason. If you just watch the tape and you watch them, it's greatness. You know, something I'll bring up, you saw the other night, Josh Allen had two throws, really weren't very good throws. And then he had another couple later on that didn't happen to be turnovers. Right. And then he, everyone says he's put. He played a solid game, you know, which he ended up doing. Lamar Jackson had two mistakes against the Buffalo Bills, which happened to be turnovers in one game. You have Kansas City and, you know, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, you know, throw balls that should have been caught for interceptions. They didn't in our game. You know, you have the fumble and then the one missed throw that happened to be turnovers. And then he plays lights out before, after that, during the second half played. Unbelievable. It's just getting rid of those costly mistakes.
Colin Cowherd
Yep.
Kyle Van Noy
Where or the ball bounces, where the team doesn't catch them, where, you know, we take advantage of that, where we don't have turnovers in our games. And I think he'll clean it up. I think it's a learning situation. There's many quarterbacks that didn't win until they were in their 30s of their first Super Bowl. Lamar still young, he's still getting better. I think he's going to take it up another level. I know he has another gear. I know he has another level of play. I've seen it in practice, and I'm excited to see it again this year. Up close, you know, personal. Being on the bench, watching him and cheering them on.
Colin Cowherd
Kyle, you just keep playing. You just keep making plays. You're about mid. A minute left. How old are you right now? Come on, tell me. How old are you?
Kyle Van Noy
I'm 33. I'll be 34 this next year. I'm grateful to keep playing my first Pro Bowl. A lot of people, you know, are pumped about it with me. I'm excited for all the fans that I that voted for me. And then, you know, my play, it speaks for itself. It's a. It comes down to a mindset just like you. You feel like you're the best at your job. You feel like I'm the best at mine.
Colin Cowherd
Hey, next time you're in la, come sit on. I'd love to see you again, buddy.
Kyle Van Noy
Yeah, you already know. It's all love, and I hope to see you soon.
Colin Cowherd
All right. One of the really great guys in this league, Kyle Van Noy, he didn't know what his future was a couple years ago, and he ends up with a great organization, did a nice playoff run. So Kyle Van Noy, good dude. Greg Olson, next hour. That guy loves football. That guy was sitting on this couch that we turned into a chair. We just sawed it right in half. That's what we do. And he's like, I don't know, man. I miss football. I want to go play football. I'm available to play football. Boom. Ravens worked out just fine. All right, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Davis, come to your senses on that poll that's available on my social media platforms. Shake yourself, people. AD live in Los Angeles, it's the Herd.
