The first guy that comes to mind to me is probably, without even talking to Rich about it, probably the first guy that comes to mind for Rich, and we'll see who that is. But let's hear what John Cena said over the weekend. Well, let's hear the moment he didn't say it.

Let's hear the moment everyone thought he was hugging it out with Cody Rhodes. And, you know, they had a wrestling WWE pay per view. I saw it, and you saw it. And then as he's hugging Cody Rhodes, the Rock gives him the old throat slit. Like, do it. Cena has, like, an odd look on his face because you're not used to seeing him mean.

Yeah, he looked like. Like Ernest P. Worrell, bro.

To tie it all together, we're talking about wrestling. We learned in the Last Dance documentary. Dennis Robin disappeared and showed up on Monday night Nitro. Like, I mean, that is, like, a real story that, like, apparently Phil Jackson, Jordan, the Whole team's like, yo, where's Dennis? We got to track down Dennis. And he pops up smoking a cigar, holding a championship belt, spray painting NWO.

With Hulk Hogan anytime. He also went over the North Korea.

And played basketball with Kim Jong Un or Kim Jong Il or whatever.

Again, it's more about reputation. We don't know the real story because people always said Kurt Schilling was a bad dude, and we recently had him on our show at Super Bowl. I loved his baseball story. He seemed like a swell fella.

No one says he's a bad guy. They don't like him politically. There's a difference.

[Steve Covino]

That's not fair, because that's why he's not in the hall of Fame right now.

What about when you hear a guy who was sort of a. See, are you we confusing badass and bad guy? Like, oh, he was like this.

Had a bad reputation, you know, as being a bad guy.

I'm the bad boy.

He was more of a bad boy. More of a heel than a good guy.

Hmm. Who is a good heel in the world of sports? You know, in the. In the world of baseball? Mitch Williams, the pitcher. Don't you feel like he sort of. Yeah, but had a reputation?

I think. I just think of him blowing it for the Phillies.

What I think. Yeah, but he had that reputation. He was like.

He had a bad mullet, but he seemed like he leaned more of a badass a little bit. I don't know why I'm confusing myself. Is it Onus Wagner who always had the reputation, or was it Ty Cobb? Ty Cobb.

Ty Cobb had a reputation.

Cobb had the reputation of going cleats first, you know, being a dirty player, being that dude. Yeah. So Ty Cobb is definitely in that conversation.

Like. Like, to me, like, Tommy John was a great pitcher. Played in the bigs for years. But Tommy John is best known for his surgery Honus Wagner is best known because he has the most rare baseball card.

I read that as a kid.

I think of just old VHS baseball highlight videos that I would have. And I don't know if he was really a bad guy, but he seemed to be like an angry sort of badass on the mound. And you always see these clips from the 1970s of A.L. hraboski, the mad Hungarian. And he'd be on the mound, all fired up, growling at something, you know, and you got to throw, like, intimidation factor in there. Too Rich. I always think of Bob Gibson was just a badass. He was all business, just a bad. I wouldn't say he's the sweetest guy on the mound.

I like where you're going with this. I don't want to confuse, like, badass and bad guy, but there's. There's a guy who. He held nothing back when he pitched the ultimate competitor. But at times he was very honest about, yo, I'm throwing at a guy. That's how I play. Pedro Martinez. Pedro, as a Yankees fan, I'm surprised you didn't think of him earlier. Pedro.

Like, I saw him at Costco like a month ago. He's always around and out and about and very approachable. So he's a nice dude, but he was a badass, bro. You know, he just was in the Octagon. The fact that he's like, after all these years, after never being a heel, is he going to lean in and be a real bad guy or what? It should be fun. It makes me want to watch a little bit, to be honest.

I mean, it got my attention over the weekend. I'm not a big wrestling fan anymore. As a kid, obviously, we all grew up with that. So, again, if anyone else comes to mind, you want to give them props because you need that. I think Floyd Mayweather is one of the greater examples you threw out here, Rich. It builds intrigue. Sometimes you want good versus bad, good versus evil. You know what I mean? You want it like that.

You know who's a great villain. And by villain, by bad guy, I mean, like, when you want to see the people lose, that means they've done their job.

Like Jake Paul, he's a great villain.

And then you saw a little nasty streak when he steps on the stomach of a player from Kentucky in their Elite eight game. But you couldn't beat him, which made it more frustrating. It hit the game winning shots. But, like in playing that role of villain and the guy that you love to ha. I think that Christian Laettner is one of the top guys, especially in college basketball.

There's a famous story, if you're a Yankees fan, about why they got rid of Mel hall and he actually turned out to be a bad guy. I always thought he had a bad guy sort of reputation and he was sort of a badass when he played baseball. Do you guys remember Mel Hall? He hit majestic bombs.

They had to get rid of Mel hall because they were. He was killing the confidence of Bernie Williams.

We're talking about how great paradise is. Danny G. I watched a similar show on Netflix called Zero Day with De Niro and it stunk. Did you try watching that or no?

We got one episode in and Brenda said, yeah, I don't want to see the second episode.

Yeah. But after one episode, Rich was sort of hyping it up. It's actually pretty good. That's why I don't believe you when you say shows are good because you talk about every show.

He's the boy who cried show.

The premise of Zero Day with De Niro.

[Steve Covino]

I think you got to give it a full watch before you start recommending to people. Because you were talking about it.

Well, I only watched episode one and I was like, then zip it.

I don't need to know. You watched one episode. I'll tell you, every episode I watch.

[Dan Byer]

It stunk because then it sounds to.

[Steve Covino]

Me you're vouching for it. Like, why are you wasting my time talking? It's like you telling me to, hey, man, taste this. It tastes like ass. Like, why do I want to taste it? Why do I want to hear about a show that you don't even know if you like yet? Yet Rich is eating a kebab and.

[Rich Davis]

He starts with filet mignon at the tip and he starts going further in and it's like fried poop on the end.

[Steve Covino]

I don't want to hear about it. You don't finish it and then tell me if it's good.

[Dan Byer]

What kebabs are you eating? I don't know.

Seem like a good analogy in my mind. I liked the first episode was decent. I get it.

[Dan Byer]

And then it stinks.

So you know, then you're talking about it and then like, then you got me invested in a crappy show.

[Rich Davis]

We have a three episode rule at home.

There you go.

Once we get three episodes, if it's worth the fourth episode, then we're excited about it and might tell somebody about It.

But there it is.

You should live, by the way, episode in not gonna say, oh, my God, that's amazing.

We also do a segment called weekend hobnobbing on Fridays. And I had said that, hey, maybe invest. And I did. And I'm telling you right now, I'm saving you the time. It stinks. Don't watch Zero Day with De Niro. It's. It's about like a cyber attack and you think it's gonna go somewhere and after six episodes and that's all it is. It's a miniseries like.

And it's a De Niro zero.

[Dan Byer]

It's a De Niro zero. Well done, Sam.

Better than a kebab thing. Speaking of what to watch, I never watch SNL, but I did watch the 50 year highlights and they were great.

I did watch that clip. Yeah, no, it was really funny. It was a lot of funny moments, a lot of great cameos.

Did you watch this Weekend? People are saying one of the better bits in a while. Shane Gillispie, couple of beers. How it. He makes it sound like a pharmaceutical ad. And it's like when I'm. When I'm down and out, there's that I have couple of beers and it's essentially just him drinking and he's like more friendly at work. He has more confidence.

I saw it and I saw a lot of the highlights. People love Shane Gillis. They do. He gets a lot of props from a lot of people on social media. He's always in my algorithm. But I did see that he hosted and I saw two of your boys were there. Rich McCaffrey and Kittle.

[Dan Byer]

Actually three. It's just the third guy. It sucks that he doesn't get the props.

[Steve Covino]

He wasn't in the headline.

[Dan Byer]

I didn't recognize him. Use check.

[Steve Covino]

Oh, he was there.

Yeah, he's there. You know, he's part of that crew.

[Steve Covino]

That's messed up. He should have got some credit.

And did I also see Greg Olson was part of that little posse? I'm not a current player, but announcer Greg Olson. Shane Gillis is friends with a lot of NFL players. You could tell he's cut from that bro cloth. He's very bro. Yeah.

Good for him.

And he had a lot of NFL support at Saturday Night Live. And all over their social media, George Kittle was posting pictures of him on set. And I'm sure that's a thrill for the cast. They get to meet athletes and the athletes always admire the performers.

So that's just A, I guess great respect in how relationships start. Cause I remember when. When Sebastian Maniscalco would be a frequent guest on our show, he would often talk about his relationship with J.J. watt. You guys know J.J. watt. He's a really good guy I invited to the barbecue. And, you know, you. You start thinking about all these random celebrity athlete friendships, and I actually looked some up and some were random. Gordon Ramsay is apparently good pals with David Beckham spot. Did you know that? I know you're a big Gordon Ramsay friend. They're both British from. Yeah, yeah.

Conor McGregor apparently is sort of super pals with Justin Bieber, at least at one point. Right.

[Dan Byer]

I thought it was peculiar last week because I didn't know they had a friendship at all. You saw that Bieber and Chappelle met up for dinner, right?

[Steve Covino]

Random.

[Dan Byer]

That's interesting.

[Steve Covino]

The Gallagher brothers and Ricky Hatton. Two blokes. Three blokes. You know, bloody blokes back in the day, all buddy, chummy. This one was sort of famous. Matthew McConaughey and Lance Armstrong. Remember them working out and jogging around together for a long time.

[Rich Davis]

Austin Connection, Austin, Texas.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah. Ronaldo and Lil Wayne. I didn't even know about that one. But again, at one point, they were pals.

[Dan Byer]

The weirdest friendship of all time for me is Lil Wayne and Skip Bayless.

[Steve Covino]

No, I got you beat. Kim Jong Un and Dennis Rodman. Yes.

[Dan Byer]

Okay.

You know what?

That's gotta be.

It's gotta be. There's the crescendo. I think that's it. I think that was the best one. But again, I didn't know that. I knew Shane Gillis was tight with a lot of these dudes, but I didn't know it was at that level now.

They were out there. Remember they were all at McCaffrey's wedding together.

[Steve Covino]

Yes. Yeah, that's right.

[Dan Byer]

And that's that we realized that Greg Olson's a party animal. And it was. Remember we said Shane Gillis is there with his hot girlfriend. What is he doing at McCaffrey's wedding? Apparently, the mutual respect. So you saw a lot of support, and that happens a lot. And I can't beat your Kim jong un. Rodman 1. But you and I thought it was really funny watching that Joe Montana documentary about how him and Huey Lewis, they're like the same guy.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah. They got the same sort of vibe about them. The moxie. Yeah. I would say that's a really good one, too. They were good pals. So much so that Huey Lewis invited Joe Montana and a Lot of the players to be in the background for. Hip to be square.

[Dan Byer]

Not even. I'm not BSing you.

So if you're hip, hip, hip everywhere. Those are the 49ers featuring Joe Montana. Yeah, they're in the song.

It's like Ronnie Lap Montana and a couple others that are actually in the song. Hip to be Square. Fun fact. Now, while they're having fun getting ready for a big comeback year in the Bay Area in Santa Clara, and you're saying, ooh, Niners, they gonna bring it this year. Over the weekend, my phone lit up. I was at my, I was at my, my son's friend's little birthday party and I'm trying to talk to other parents on my phone.

People are like, yo, what are you, Mr. Important? I'm like, oh, you know what it is? I'm a big Niners fan. And everyone all at once is like, yo, say farewell to Debo.

[Steve Covino]

Yeah. But for a fifth round pick, that was a whack a doodle do.

[Dan Byer]

Yeah, it feels like a pretty one sided deal. As of now, I'll justify and play, you know, I'll play Justifier and say, yeah, his production was way down. He's not The Debo of 2021 that we remember. Like a couple years ago when he was, you know, 1400 yards running the ball every the last couple years, like 600, 700 yards. Like he has lost production. You could say he's not in the same physical condition. Remember when he said, I'm done running the ball too? I don't know. I think with Ricky Piersol emerging at the end of the year with Juwan Jennings, IU Kelsey next year, I'll be.

Honest, your side of the argument is like, yeah, whatever. But the commander side is like, hell.

Yeah, he's only 29.

Exactly. Jaden Daniels, like, yeah, damn right. Making moves. So it's. There's another way to look at this.
